    No Turning Back

    Posted: 11 Sep 2020 03:27 PM PDT

So back when Forsaken came out, Petra gave me my very first Destiny bow, and even if it wasn't the best roll (had no idea what the best roll would even be yet) I threw a masterwork on it so I could generate orbs of light, clicked on that PvE kill tracker, and went merrily into the world with my "No Turning Back".

It carried me through Forsaken, through getting Dredgen (at least 25 or so of my "Army of One" came from that bow). It helped me with forges, with the reckoning. That bow has been my baby, and I vowed to myself when I got to 100,000 kills I'd enshrine it in my vault and replace it with a better roll.

When I found out about the vaulting I was absolutely crushed that I couldn't replace it with a better roll, and *really worried* I wouldn't be able to get the kills by the end of the season. But I did it, my sweet princess made it to 100,000. Exactly that. And now to the vault it goes.

Double Nightfall rewards on Lake of shadows next week

    Posted: 11 Sep 2020 10:06 AM PDT

When the friday reset, a big banner said Double Nightfall: The Ordeal Rewards On Lake Of Shadows. it means when you get the rewards (including exotic weapons and armor pieces) it will be doubled. So when you would normally get 1 you get 2. Thank you Bungie.

Like a five loadout slots which let you save current subclass with the gear you have in your inventory/vault (in the end everyone is transferring items through item managers)...

That would be a gamechanger for me!

Edit: Guys you are amazing with your response and feedback! I hope this become visible with a Bungie team and they can take it forward. Maybe anyone has some experience with that and know direct route to community managers? Plz msg me privately on that.

    Community Focus light.gg

    Posted: 11 Sep 2020 10:02 AM PDT

    Source: https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/49552

Our focus this week is on a community-created site that boasts tons of features to help you keep track of Destiny's armor, weapons, Triumphs, and so much more. We recently worked with them and some other API creators to put together a checklist of the Triumphs you should complete before the end of the Season. They've been amazing at finding creative ways to utilize the magic of the API to create cool features for the community.

    Please meet light.gg.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your role in the Destiny community.

Alan: Hello everyone! My name is Alan / afpac and I run the Destiny 2 database and tools site, light.gg. I've been a fan of FPS games all of my life, from playing freeze tag mods back in Quake 1, to everyone's favorite Assault on Zanzibar in Halo 2, all the way to Destiny 2 and other games today. Aside from that, I'm a former Top 50 world raider in World of Warcraft, so when I heard Bungie had built a game that brought aspects of the MMO genre into an FPS game, I was instantly drawn in.

In my personal life, I'm a software architect by day (imagine that), and I'm the proud dad of two adoring huskies and three indifferent cats. I enjoy hiking, biking, bowling, golfing, and traveling when there isn't a plague.

Top 50 raider huh - I was the second-best rogue on Stormrage (no, not really) but I digress. You want to introduce the rest of your team and have them share their favorite subclass and weapons?

Alan: Some may be surprised to hear the team behind the site is actually just me - I write all the code, maintain all the servers, scream when they crash, all of it.

While I dabble in all the classes/subclasses, Warlock is home to me, and the sound of a Nova Bomb murdering a pack of Thrall was once my text message ringtone. While I fondly remember the days of sniping Hobgoblins from miles away with Icebreaker in Vault of Glass, my all-time favorite gun has to be Telesto, with The Recluse coming in a very close second.

Oh… yea I just assumed you had a team backing you up! That is impressive. What are some of the most-used features you built… by yourself?

Alan: The Item Database that lets people see possible rolls on weapons (and suggestions from the community on which perks they should actually use - shout out to @Panda_Pax and @Mercules904) is far and away the most popular feature on the site.

The God Roll Finder, which allows you to specify which perks you'd like and find weapons that can possibly drop with them, is another big hit.

Finally, the Collection Leaderboard – the feature the site was originally built around – still has a vibrant community of players who enjoy grinding out the hardest to achieve Triumphs and collecting the rarest items to climb its ranks.

Those all sound like great resources for Guardians. Any other feature plans you are working on you want to tease out?

Alan: While I have a list as long as my arm of things I'd like to do, the closest thing on the horizon is what I'm internally calling Custom Wishlists. The idea is to allow people to customize the perk suggestions they see on weapon pages to match their own personal taste, share those lists with their friends, and quickly be able to tell which items in their inventory match up with something on their wishlist.

Another goal here is to give a platform to the folks in the community that love spending time testing out weapons to give some guidance to their fellow guardians on what perk combinations are worth giving a shot. These featured members will be able to curate their wishlists over time and share them with the community prominently on item pages.

There are also a few things on the backburner that are about 80% of the way there (loadout theorycrafting tool / PGCR with an absurd number of statistics) that will hopefully see the light of day at some point.

What made you decide to jump into the API community and start light.gg?

Alan: The site really is just a collection of things that I wished existed for Destiny 2 that I couldn't find a good tool for at the time. It started as a Collection Leaderboard shortly after Destiny 2 launch because I wanted to see how my collection measured up against my friends and others in the community. From there, I wanted to really drill down into items, being able to search by insane combinations of criteria at once (ala Wowhead), so I built the Item Database. Then with the advent of random rolls, I wanted to be able to find which weapons could roll with the perks I like, so the God Roll Finder was born.

More or less everything from there has been either something I thought would be useful/cool or a great idea from a member of the community that I've taken a stab at bringing to life.

We always love seeing what you come up with and create. Where all can we find you on the internet?

Alan: https://light.gg is home sweet home.

    • @lightdotgg on Twitter is a great way to find out the Trials rewards or Xur rolls on Friday, as well as stay up to date on the newest site content.
    • We have fledgling YouTube channel, where I've committed to upload more tutorial videos for different features.
    • https://discord.gg/pmHRd5U is the site's Discord server, the best place to argue over rolls or pitch your idea for a new feature on the site.

Anything else you would like to add before we let you go?

Alan: I'd just like to thank everyone for the resounding support they've always shown. The past almost three years have been extremely exciting and humbling. Seeing a personal passion project really take off and become something tens of thousands of people use daily is something I always hoped for but never thought would actually happen. The Destiny 2 community is truly one of the best corners of the internet, and I am proud be a small part of what makes it great.

We'd like to thank Alan for stopping by to tell us all about light.gg and some of the cool features it has. Make sure you check out the site and follow them on social for updates on when new features are added.

We love doing these and will keep them coming. If you have any suggestions on who we should focus on next let us know us on Twitter or our forums.

    I feel terrible! Kinda...

    Posted: 11 Sep 2020 08:36 PM PDT

My gamer son saw me grinding Gambit, and asked me why I was playing so much of it. I told him I need Army of Ones, for Malfeasance and - eventually - Dredgen.

He said, "if I get you an Army of One, can I stay up playing Warframe with my friends?". Since I planned for him to do that anyway, I said sure.

First game of regular Gambit, he used Xenophage and struggled. He asked for a rocket launcher, so I sent my recently acquired Truth over (thanks DIM!), and he went into Prime.

He went OFF! It was a joy to watch, as he got three Army of Ones, and 20 Guardian kills. In a single match! I think he killed six in one invasion. Ahh the joys of youthful reflexes...

I'm very sorry to the team we beat, but now I'm four Light vs Lights away from my first title.

So proud of my boy! Go Cr33p3rb0t!

We need a better loot system for Iron Banner.

    Posted: 11 Sep 2020 04:17 PM PDT

I've been playing more IB this week than usual just to complete the armor sets on two characters and it is frustrating. I still need boots on both of them, and arms on one because I accidentally deleted them.

The problem, basically, is there is too much loot. What I mean is that the loot pool is just too vast. It includes not only IB gear, but also world drops.

    Personally, I see three solutions.

1). Legendaries dropped from IB matches should only be IB gear. I should not be getting Wing Theorum armor or Truthteller instead of Iron Fellowship or Forward Path.

    2) A method to focus rank up packages. Something similar to the Umbral Engram system so that if you want armor you won't be getting 50 different weapons.

    3) A source of guaranteed armor drops. As bad as the quests the past three seasons were, at the very least you were guaranteed a full set of armor for completing it.

Bungie: About Izanagi's Burden and its final perk.

    Posted: 11 Sep 2020 08:36 AM PDT

Hold up, this is not a thread to ask for a reversal on the reload changes, they were good changes, the gun was busted.

Now with that out of the way, the reload changes did see a change to one of Izanagi's perks, which was a replacement for the now obsolete Outlaw perk, for No Distractions.

While I get the idea behind that (make the shot count), No Distractions, as it currently stands, is a worthless perk, for further explanations in regards to that, see following video (TL;DR: still flinches pretty badly, bad start-up time, overall unwieldy for most situations).

So I'm here to suggest a couple of alternative perks that could replace No Distractions to add more functionality/flavour to the gun, with a semi-brief explanation as to why I'd think they would make a good addition to the gun:

    • Opening Shot: While the idea is the same as with No Distractions (Make. The shot. Count.), Opening Shot has no start-up time and does more for the player to achieve the same thing, while also working more in favour of Izanagi's single-shot mechanic, since it only applies to a single bullet (until the perk resets).

    • Quickdraw: Since Izanagi's Burden is designed to reminiscently look like a sword, while having the name of a Japanese deity and with some crude connections made based on those 2 points and the existence of the Iaijutsu style in Japanese martial arts, makes this a thematically nice fit, while also providing the player with a quick option to switch to it quickly to dispose of a newly emerged threat, since Honed Edge doesn't disappear when the gun is holstered.

    • Sympathetic Arsenal: The usual end result of Izanagi's Burden being fired is that the target dies and the player loads in a new Honed Edge bullet right away, this means that this goes hand in hand with the usual playstyle of the gun while also providing the benefit of reloading the player's other weapons.

Those are all perks that would not affect the damage of the gun, but work well with how it is already used.

The following suggestions would affect the damage of the gun, but work well with how it is already used, without adding reload speed to the gun, which would go against it's intended use of being a heavy burst damage dealer.

    • Ambitious Assassin: This would allow Izanagi's Burden to overflow it's magazine, effectively allowing it to get an even greater boost in it's Honed Edge damage (which is probably not coded into the game to work that way, but hey), but only as a reward for having killed other enemies beforehand.

This would go very well as a nod to one of its related Lore entries too, which reads:

"As the man took aim at my head, I heard the shot and assumed I was dead. But it was him who was dead, not me. You were so far that none of us knew where to look. The second man winged me with one of our own weapons. He began to gloat about that, but another round from you shut him up. Two more thunderous shots, and their drones were as dead as they were. "

-Final Entry, The Black Armory Papers

The Implication being that Ada used Izanagi's Burden (the only 4 shot Black Armory sniper, Tartara Gaze (by default) only has 3, and the gun sharing motives with her design overall) from a faraway position, without being seen, to quickly dispose of 4 of her enemies, effectively making her the Ambitious Assassin.

    • Dragonfly: While not directly affecting the damage the player would deal per shot, this would allow a Honed Edge shot to clear enemies around the VIP you're trying to take down, allowing the player to potentially kill the VIP first, while also clearing some adds, instead of doing what most people currently do, which is to kill everything around the VIP first, to then kill them with No Distractions (pun intended). This is especially effective since Dragonfly's damage scales with the damage of the shot fired, which is increased by Honed Edge.

Due to being too straight forward and being too close to a straight-up buff, but still fitting the playstyle of the gun, here are some honourable mentions:

    • High-Impact Reserves: Effectively, this would just be a straight damage buff, not my favourite, but it would undeniably work hand in hand with Izanagi's Burden since Honed Edge reduces it to 1 shot left in the mag, meaning that HIR would be at it's strongest.

    • Overflow/Clown Cartridge: Same with Ambitious Assassin, but without the lore tie-ins or the reward structure that balances it, this would allow one to simply get more shots into Honed Edge with next to no Compromises.

Those are my suggestions, let me know what you think, if you'd like them or not, which one you liked the most and if you would have any suggestions yourself.

Please add separate reward engrams for vendors again. One for weapons and one for armor.

    Posted: 11 Sep 2020 09:12 AM PDT

Usually I would preface these posts with something favorable towards the current system, but I cannot think of a single benefit that the current reward engram system has over giving players choice.

Lets face it, we have a lot of tokens. For me, the reason why I have not spent many of mine is because of the randomness of reward engrams. Although I know that this is a game about getting random loot with the potential of getting good loot, I feel as though this is too much RNG.

Despite the fact that I think Destiny 2 has improved on Destiny 1 in many aspects, I think that the way reward engrams for vendors were handled in its predecessor was largely beneficial towards the player-base, granting them choice as well as respect for their time for accumulating all of those tokens and reputation gain.

    Thank you~~_

    Posted: 11 Sep 2020 02:27 AM PDT

Bungie, I know that you have extremely talented artists, who knows how to propperly design intricate, beautiful enviroments, but those do not translate to armor. I can count with a hand, the number of good looking sets added in the whole year and seeing the new sets to come it gives me dreadfull thoughts. What happenned? All of them are hideous. We ask for simmetrical designs, and you do the opposite. We ask for simple yet practical armor ala D1 and we get hobbo knight with a photoshopped knife.

We need sensitivity changes for controller/console.

    Posted: 11 Sep 2020 01:54 PM PDT

Now I know what you're thinking, this is annoying.. No one will care.. But please, I think you'll be intrigued as to what I have to say.

So, as a person who plays different FPS games, I think it'd be good for console players to have different sense from hip fire to ADS. I also think that it should be similar to PC (since now consoles have the same UI as PC) in the way that we have aim assist ofc, but we'll able to have relatively high sense, so the way that'd be implemented is aim acceleration, basically it'd go up in multipliers of how your sense is originally. So, mine is currently 8 but I'd be able to multiply that with aim acceleration so, changing it to 2x rather than 1x.

    Asher destroys the pit!

In Asher's final lore, he reaches the pit at the end of the Pyramidion, looks up, and sees a lake of radiolaria above him. He bring the lake down, flooding the pit. Is that why Asher said that there was no pit in the Pyramidion during the strike? Had he actually visited a future version of the location when he lost his arm? The pit was already destroyed by the actions he had yet to take! Vex time manipulation at its finest!
