I really hope Crow isn't absent for a season after becoming such an incredible character.

    Posted: 08 May 2021 09:53 AM PDT

The redemption arc of Crow has been one of the greatest stories in Destiny, turning a once universally hated character to a universally loved character. I would love to see how the city and vanguard react to his role in the fight against the Darkness in a way other than lore cards shoved away in the coming seasons.

Shaders are designed to be the most affordable cosmetic...this BD change will make it feel less so

    Posted: 08 May 2021 11:45 AM PDT

.Imo the backlash about the bright dust price change for shaders would EASILY become smaller if Bungie were to announce more bright dust was being added to the challenges/season pass to circumvent it to a tea.

It's simple economics: if prices are going to be marked up on a common product, you in turn mark up how much currency the population earns on average to afford said product.

Shaders are BY Bungies OWN DESIGN are meant to be the most accessible and affordable cosmetic out of everything else. To price shaders to an amount where 5 new different shaders surpasses the price of AN EXOTIC ORNAMENT feels like an outright ripoff that'll rip through player's BD savings everytime they see a new color set they like.

(At 300 BD/shader, 5 of those=1500. Exotic ornaments like the ones for Anarchy and Divinity were 1250 each. Compared to when it was 40 BD, you could get at least 30 shaders for that 1250 price.)

Thank you. To the community, and all the people and developers of Bungie, Here's to building Destiny for the better, together. 🍻🥂💯💯

    Witherhoard is absolutely sick

    Posted: 08 May 2021 04:04 PM PDT

Got this beast of a weapon a week ago and do not regret it. I asked what I should get and got some mixed responses but witherhoard was one that many said, and caught my eye. This is probably my new favorite weapon in this game and would 100% recommend it to anyone who has it and hasn't used it in a while, or is on the fence about getting it

Do not dismantle your sunset curated Vouchsafe | Double dragonfly bug

    Posted: 08 May 2021 11:43 AM PDT

I made a less tidy post about this bug yesterday that I was updating as I learned more, but I figured for the sake of organization I would do another, more comprehensive write-up.

This bug involves an issue where the old curated perks remain selected on Vouchsafe even after the curated roll was changed. In DIM this will look like 2 perks in each column, the first (selected) one being the old perks (dragonfly zen moment) and the second being the new perks (rapid hit dragonfly).

In-game, you will only see the new perks, but they will appear unselected (grayed out) until you click on them. If you click on only the dragonfly, it will change the second perk to dragonfly without changing the first; thus, double dragonfly. If you hover over the item in your inventory it will show as dragonfly dragonfly.

Selecting the new perks is irreversible and if you also pick rapid hit, you will be stuck with the new roll.

Now here is the cool thing. It actually works. Double dragonfly will cause a more dense particle effect and do 2 ticks of damage instead of 1. With dragonfly spec, this is a 1 shot at close to medium blast radius (for less than 3 resilience) doing around 192 damage. With a damage buff, this easily clears the 201hp margin required for one-shotting all resilience levels. Charged with light makes the explosion range extremely generous. doing upwards of 250 total damage. (all of these numbers are with dragonfly spec).

This isn't necessarily overpowered by any stretch, since it is a sunset 200 scout that pretty much only has PVP applications, but that doesn't mean this won't get removed eventually. As far as I know, this bug is unique to vouchsafe and apostate (both were renewed with new curated rolls) but apostate doesn't have any interesting combinations.

Just put synthweave in the season pass...

    Posted: 08 May 2021 03:39 AM PDT

Bungie wants players to earn armour synthesis, but they made an entirely new and confusing system when they could use the season pass which has the same purpose but would work better. Put 5 Synthweaves in the pass and then give 1 for every 10 levels after tier 100 (110,120,130 etc). Don't cap this as you should allow players at level 500 to have 45 synthweaves, they're clearly playing your game the most.

I would be Okay with parts of Patrol areas being used as Crucible maps.

    Posted: 08 May 2021 12:53 PM PDT

Have a beta play list that rotates different patrol areas and have people vote on them. Implement the most popular ones.

I'm sure everyone can think of fun and (potentially) balanced areas that can be used. It would also be a nice opportunity to test out different types of play styles.

This is obviously bot a perfect solution but it would take way less effort than making a whole new map.

Edit: You can event make it an event, call it quarantine or something.

Now that shaders are becoming permanent unlocks, can we just get rid of Rahool and decrypt the engrams ourselves?

    Posted: 08 May 2021 07:07 PM PDT

At this point, he's looking to be almost as useless as Ikora. Plus, decrypting our engrams would make things so much easier instead of having to go to the Tower.

    Posted: 08 May 2021 06:20 PM PDT

With the removal of transmat effects being consumables come season of the splicer, the only way you'll be able to get transmat effects will be from eververse and the season pass.

Buy a ton of Blue Transmat Effects (Season 1)and trade them in with Amanda for new Transmat Effects. This will be the last time you'll get new ones without losing BrightDust

You know, I'm seeing a lot of talk about the class based swords coming back, but not a lot of talk about them being class based. Class based weapons benefit no one, which is why Ace of Spades is no longer a "Hunter only" weapon.

    Posted: 08 May 2021 11:23 AM PDT

I'm pretty excited for the Crown Splitter frame to come back and I'm excited for those of you that never had one to try it. That being said, if it's a Titan only sword, Hunters and Warlocks will never get to slam the ground like the Young Wolf's Howl exotic from Destiny 1.

Also, I run the Revelry armor ornaments (it's a mix but you get the idea) with my Stronghold exotic (which is also not very bulky) and Crown Splitter honestly looks huge with such a slim fitting armor set. On top of that, I'd actually prefer the mobility buff from a lightweight frame Sword. However, if the swords stay class based then we are blocking off 2, potentially 3 unique weapon frames from 2/3 of the community.

Think of it this way; what if, only Titans could use 120rpm hand cannons because they "hit the hardest," then only warlocks could use 140s and Hunters only get to use 180 rpm hand cannons. Ya'll would riot, like legit pitchforks in the streets riot and you know it.

But why would you riot, why would you care if Igneous Hammer could only be used by Titans? ...Exactly. Unique class abilities, jumps, and armor exotics? Sure, those are great. Just don't limit an already limited weapon class again, especially since these frames are so much fun to use. Let everyone enjoy them.

    All classes, all swords.

Tarrabah - From Zero to Hero

    Posted: 08 May 2021 07:13 PM PDT

In celebration of the end of the season, I put together a build leveraging the seasonal mods and exotic armor with a long-forgotten weapon, Tarrabah.

The purpose of this build is to stack the damage buffs from Font of Might, Mantle of Battle Harmony, and Ravenous Beast on Tarrabah.

With how easy it is to proc Absorption Cells on Mantle, Tarrabah shreds with its almost constant 20% damage buff stacked on Ravenous Beast's 190% multiplier. Font of Might gives a short and sweet 10% buff as a small cherry on top.

All the stacking damage buffs and the speed at which you can get your abilities back when using multiple of the Elemental Well mods make you an add clearing machine and I have even had success with this in the Proving Ground GM Nightfall.

    Build

    Class:

Warlock only (sorry Titans and Hunters) -- Well maybe until next season for Titans with their upcoming exotic.

    Subclass:

Solar. You must be running a solar subclass to make proper use of the perks from the armor and mods with Tarrabah, but as for which tree, that is a personal preference.

    Weapons:

    Tarrabah

    Armor:

    Mantle of Battle Harmony

    Mods:

    • Font of Might (important)
    • Elemental Ordnance
    • Elemental Armaments
    • Font of Wisdom or Elemental Charge (optional)

Font of Might is the only must-have mod as it gives the damage buff that stacks with everything else.

The next two mods are very beneficial to use as they create Elemental Wells to proc Font of Might, you have to use at least one, but I definitely suggest both.

The last mod listed is completely up to you, but the ones I have had the most success with are Font of Wisdom for getting my super faster with low intellect armor and Elemental Charge if I want to sling grenades as Shax taught me.

Special Ammo Finisher could probably work as well since Absorption Cells will fill that spent super in no time.

Everything else is up to you based on the activity. Tarrabah has a decent range for an SMG and its bullets seem to inflect insane amounts of flinch. Because of that, I felt most comfortable running a kinetic sniper.

    Math

When coming up with the build, I captured a lot of damage values to see what did and didn't stack -- and to my surprise, all three of the damage buffs stacked increasing Tarrabah's bodyshot damage by almost 300%, leaving it only 42 damage behind its headshot damage.

Headshot (% damage increase) Bodyshot (% damage increase)
    Tarrabah 1622 (44%) 1126 (0%)
    Ravenous Beast 3270 (190%) 3239 (188%)
    Absorption Cells 1946 (72%) 1351 (20%)
    Ravenous Beast + Absorption Cells 3924 (248%) 3886 (245%)
    Ravenous Beast + Absorption Cells + Font of Might 4317 (283%) 4275 (280%)

These values are the bullet damage increases and do not take into account the RPM increase that Ravenous Beast gives. I'll let someone smarter at math figure that one out.

Because the bodyshot multiplier of Ravenous Beast is so high, it makes aiming for headshots not even worth the hassle and makes this weapon really good for melting any enemy with pesky crit spots.

I created 2 youtube videos showcasing this build, one explaining it like I did here, and another to show it being used successfully in a GM Nightfall. You can find those here if you are interested in watching.

“I am a wall. And walls don’t move. Because walls don’t care.” Yeah, unless the opponent is using Stasis. Then the defender subclass turns into a joke.

    Posted: 08 May 2021 04:35 PM PDT

It feels really bad trying to be a defender in this meta. Frustratingly so.

Be me, a lone defender titan trying to take a zone with his teammates. My Banner Shield is up. I pop it, and I tell my mates to rally behind me. Use the weapons buff to clear the point and my shield for protection.

Well. A lone hunter has his Silence and Squall. Pops it, freezes me and my teammates, and the tornado does us in. Kills all 5 of us.

I feel awful. Them rallying behind me was the worst mistake they could have made. I couldn't defend a damn thing.

I'm not asking to be invincible. But against a very popular subclass, ya know Stasis, I want to feel like my void Titan stands a chance. I want to be the wall that darkness breaks against, not crumbles under.

Please, consider some buffs for defender against stasis.

Solo Flawless Pit of Heresy Guide Without Ball Duping - Warlock

    Posted: 08 May 2021 09:51 PM PDT

    Hello everyone.

For the past two months I have been off-and-on attempting my solo flawless Pit of Heresy run (I may be in the minority here but Shadowkeep is my favorite expansion lol). I refused to do any ball-duping so this guide will avoid any of that (momma didn't raise no b*!$#) Anyway, I figured I'd type up a report of my load-out and how I did it so fellow Guardians can give it a go! Solo flawless dungeons are a great challenge and super satisfying to pull off.

First, the part of my load-out didn't change: my armor. For the entirety of the run I had my trusty Geomags on with Chaos Reach of course. I also ran healing rift, storm nade, and the speed jump but feel free to switch those up. My stat distro is the typical Mob, Int, Recov rolls but again you can pretty much run whatever you want though I highly recommend max Recov.

First, Necropolis. For this I ran a kinetic sniper (Succession with Recon and Vorpal is amazing), any energy primary will do but I ran an adept Pally, and then Anarchy for my heavy. However, if you don't have Anarchy don't worry because you can run really whatever you want in this encounter. The only thing I would say is a need is a sniper. To beat it, I would jump down into the 'A' room with the first sword knight and kill him but not pick up the sword. I've found that killing him in this room allows him to spawn on the bridges throughout the encounter, though this might be incorrect. After nuking him, take note of the three rooms you gotta go to and walk back outside. With your sniper shoot the knights guarding each of the three rooms you gotta go to. Then, go back inside and kill the knight again to grab the sword and head to the topmost room and defeat the boss. Then work your way down the mountain-side. Watch out for the ogres, they don't have a lot of health but they will mess up your day. The knights are also super annoying, so I recommend throwing on concussive dampener to lessen the blow. If your sword runs out of ammo, don't worry about going back up top. Instead, kill everything on the nearest bridge, this will allow a sword bearer knight to spawn which will give you a fresh sword. Once you kill the final boss, do not head towards the big green spire. Instead, try and snipe the Revenant Knight hanging outside. Killing him causes all of the adds to de-spawn and makes your life a whole lot easier. After that it's just not killing yourself falling into the Ogre pits.

Next, Ogres. You can run literally whatever you want in this encounter as well. I personally ran Witherhoard, my adept Pally, and a Falling Guillotine. The sword is important because if you run past an ogre and he does a ground pound you can swing your sword to negate the knockback and collision damage (you can also swing the orb as well if you're carrying that) and Witherhoard made quick work of the adds in the orb rooms. There's not much to say about this encounter, just don't be afraid to use your super because the time you spend waiting for the ogres to walk out of the way will mean your super is right back up again. There are plenty of maps out there if you don't know your way around. After dunking all three orbs it is time for pain.

The aptly named Chamber of Suffering. This part is brutal. For this encounter I ran my kinetic sniper, Trinity Ghoul with the catalyst, and a arc based heavy (I ran an adept Swarm). The method for this encounter is as follows: Kill adds praying to the plate to proc your trinity ghoul effect. After that be certain to run around killing adds until the first knight on the left spawns, be careful ont to stray too far from the plate for too long though. Snipe him stupid fast and grab the orb but drop it on the plate, do not dunk it right now. The next knight is going to spawn in the middle, ignore him. I have found myself dying because of running to that area of the map far too often for it to be worth it. Keep juggling the orb and killing adds until the knight on the right spawns. Quickly snipe him, grab the orb, step back on the plate, and then dunk both orbs in quick succession. Dunking two orbs only spawns one set of adds which is good for you. Use trinity ghoul to kill adds until the two nights up top spawn. Then chaos reach everything. After that it's just rinse and repeat until you've dunked six orbs. With this method, there's no ball duping and you only fight two big waves of adds which negates your odds of dying. After that it's time to play Wipeout.

Wipeout isn't too bad. I found Xeno to be super helpful here because the three wizards are all solar shields. There's a map you can find online if you want but to be honest I found it easier to just use my radar and play hot/cold until I stumbled across a wizard. Just go slow and steady with your jumps and you should be good. After that, it's boss time fellas.

Boss. For this, I took off my concussive dampener and put on close range damage reduction. My load-out was my kinetic sniper, adept pally, and Anarchy but feel free to switch up the kinetic and energy to your liking. Basically you need an add killing primary, and a boss damage dealing special/heavy. Anarchy is super nice because it's "set it and forget it" damage to the boss but Witherhoard is the same thing, so feel free to use that if you don't have Anarchy. The method for this is as follows: Kill the two sword knights that are praying to the boss in the center. Pick up one of the swords and immediately go for the Shrieker in the middle. After killing him, run back out and deal with the Knight on the left. Don't worry about picking up orbs at this time. After killing the knight, kill another swordbearer to get a fresh sword and go kill the wizard. Once all three orb suppliers are dead, start dunking. Be certain to dunk in the receptacle that is farthest away from the boss because his big solar heavy attack will mess up your day. Also be certain to be killing adds in the center, especially the sword knights, while you're dunking orbs. You do not want anything in the center except you and the boss at the start of damage phase. Once damage phase starts, start doing damage, but do not use your super. Save your super until the explosive thralls spawn. Once they spawn, pop super and double dip doing damage and killing the cursed thrall. Then do damage until he kicks you out of the center. After that it's rinse and repeat. With this method it took me a simple four-phase which wasn't that bad and could definitely be improved if not playing cautious.

Anyways, that's how I solo flawless-ed Pit of Heresy without ball duping. Let me know if you have any questions!
