Strikes should go back to energy burns over singes.

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 06:40 PM PDT

I miss the old D1 NF burns where you could actually tell it was doing more damage. I dont notice that singe is even doing anything in D2 strikes. Really dont even bother adjusting my loadout for them anymore. I loved in D1 how you could get your ass kicked by whatever the weekly burn was but you would also setup a great matching loadout and fuck you could rain hell down on them alien bastards. Singe just seems a waste of a feature just so you can have the matching subclass to get your engram.

Young Ahamkara's Spine is the best exotic. Here's why and how you should use it.

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 10:27 AM PDT

Are you a Hunter looking for good exotic to use in PvP? Don't listen to the Stompies and Wormhusk normies, those exotics are boring and easy.

    Instead join the YAS GANG.

Young Ahamkara's Spine is an amazing exotic that is ridiculously overlooked, it synergizes with so many things in both PVE and PVP, and it's incredibly useful for area control and damage output.

For the uninitiated, Young Ahamkara's Spine (henceforth referred to as "YAS") is an exotic that buffs your Tripmines into space. It grants Tripmine energy on solar ability damage(throwing knives, Tripmine damage, supers, which works for every shot of Golden Gun btw, even solar charges) and it pumps up the 4 D's ( ಡ ͜ Ê– ಡ ) That is to say that it increases the Damage, Duration, Distance, and Durability of these magnificent little mines. And on top of all that, it prevents you from getting hurt by your own high explosive children. And on top of THAT, you get built in fastball, so you can YEET these bois to the moon.

Sick of your Tripmines only doing 140 damage? YAS may be right for you, now you deal a cool 160 per hit. Toss that baby on a wall and one tap with a hand cannon for the clean. The boi stronk now.

Sick of your Tripmines not lasting long enough to have a meaningful relationship with it? Is it just gone too soon? YAS may be right for you, now your Tripmines last long enough for you to see him graduate college and find a good job researching solar power. (Heh)

Sick of your Tripmines not having the range? YAS may be right for you, now you can nuke a small village. Blast that Titan before he even thinks about shoulder charging you.

Sick of your Tripmines getting knocked off the wall by a light breeze? YAS may be right for you, now you need a full magazine from most weapons to even phase that baby. Try to hurt my baby, just try.

Sick of taking damage from your own Tripmines? YAS may be right for you, now you're a Tripmine whisperer, and they will no longer bite you back. Keep those teeth pointed at the delicious meat of the enemy.

As you can see, YAS is the obvious choice for Grenade Oriented Combat, it has received more Shaxx Seals of Approval than any other exotic, including Armamentarium! (suck it Titans) It's even been praised by Asher Mir! When asked about the Young Ahamkara's Spine, he had this to say: "What are you on about with this incessant drivel about grenade enhancing Vertebra? Go make yourself useful and calculate the blast resistance of the Vex if it's so good!" (Notice how he said "it's so good" at the end there)

    How to use ya bones

Definitely make your YAS arc, and put on Enhanced Impact Induction on her for even more Tripmine energy on your throwing knife hits. I'd also recommend Enhanced Bomber on a solar Cloak for grande energy when you dodge. Beyond that, synergize however you'd like.

For PVP, you can use the Outlaw explosive knife with a Tripmine on the same doorway for a nice instakill trap for instance, but try out all the Gunslinger trees and find your Zen.

In PVE you can use Thousand Cuts to throw flaming knives, Throw Tripmine, dodge, and repeat until your target is nothing more than flaming goop in front of you.

    Say Yes to YAS

This post approved by YAS GANG

YAS GANG is not responsible for any injuries caused by stepping in or slipping on the flaming goop of your used-to-be enemies

Revitalize flashpoints by adding true world bosses

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 08:22 AM PDT

TLDR: Add massive world bosses to flashpoint destinations that spawn every few hours that drop exclusive loot.

I am on mobile so apologies for any formatting mishaps.

    Intro

If you are like me, you probably dont give a damn about flashpoint other than in the first two weeks of a season where you're trying to boost your light up a little. I think this is a shame because a big part of these types of games is interacting with the world around you. What is my main solution to this problem? World bosses.

"But op, we already have world bosses, they can spawn randomly and after an event". Fuck that noise. I aint talking about these beefy adds that get nuked the moment players see them. Think more massive boss fights that spawn every few hours, that in some cases may take a little bit of coordination.

Lets take a step back and talk about my main inspiration for these world bosses, Guild wars 2. In gw2, world bosses spawn on set times in specific locations. One boss in particular, Tequatle, spawns on daily reset every day, and requires players to split up and defend these cannons from adds between damage phases. Why do players do these world bosses? For gear, materials, gold, and a chance at rare cosmetic drops.

So how could these types of world bosses work in D2?

Lets say, on mercury (I know its getting vaulted, this be just an example), instead of the public event, the middle structure dissapears and suddenly a Penoptes lookin vex shows up with a shield on it. To get the shield off, similar to the mercury public event mechanics/the actual penoptes fight, you would need to get an arc charge, jump on some platforms and dunk on the boss. Or maybe the only way of damaging the boss is by using these arc charges for damage, making how fast you kill the boss dependent on how fast you are in making arc charges, not on the weapons you're using. I would imagine the mechanics of these fights would be based on the mechanic of the destinations public events.

It doesnt even have to be a boss fight. What if for the moon(if they add flashpoint to that destination), instead of a boss fight, you storm the scarlet keep, stopping some ritual?

But as cool as these bosses could be, no one is going to do them if the rewards are shit.

I know it, you know it, my uncles dog knows it. The main reason we play activities is for the rewards, which for some reason, bungie has been really stingy about. If the rewards are bad the activity will be dead on arrival. So heres my idea on what would get players to keep these events alive:

    • 1 pinnacle drop(weekly lockout)
    • Masterwork materials (grindable)
    • Rare super cool cosmetics(emotes, sparrow, ghost, hell maybe a finisher) (grindable)
    • Randomly rolled gear based on destination (grindable)

I would like to emphasize the importance of cosmetics. Just the chance of getting a cool cosmetic has the power to keep a player engaged, just look at the SoS emote for proof.

Edit: I figured I should give my reasoning for the other rewards, so here my reply to someone else in the thread:

Ideally, there would be other ways to earn destination guns. The main draw of these events wouldnt be the guns, but for the masterwork materials and the chance at the events cosmetic. I think it takes 10 prisms to buy a ascendant shard? So in this case, completing the event would drop 2 prisms guaranteed each time, in addition to enhancement cores and the random gun. This would be a nice way for casuals to grind for ascendant shards without having to do high level ordeals, thus making it easier to masterwork their gear. The 2-3 hours between the events would make it so the events wouldnt be the best(time wise) way of grinding these materials, and make high level ordeals pointless for the more hardcore players. IMO randomly rolled guns should also drop from regular public events and from a umbral engram type system from the vendor.

    Challenges in implementing these events

Im not naive to think that implementing a system like this isnt going to have its problems.

We all have experienced open world match making issues. I dont know if this is a thing still, but I think what can help for this event is disabling the fireteam reservation thing. For those who dont know, when you're out on patrol, you have two reserved spots in that instance just in case someone joins your fireteam, because the max amount of players you can have in an instance is 9. I also think by having one world boss a week based on which flashpoint destination it is will help funnel players onto that one destination.

There is also the problem on how often these bosses spawn. I think Every 2 or 3 hours is a good time period but thats up for debate.

Also this would take a lot of dev time to implement I would imagine.

Will this make flashpoints the best they can be, probably not. There would still be a lot of down time between the boss spawns. But I think that if theres one thing a game like destiny is missing, its massive world bosses/events.

But hey, im no game developer, just a redditor with dreams.

Edit 2: Added some headings to make it easier to read

Edit 3: A lot of people saying that randoms are going to ruin the activites, and yea, thats going to happen sometimes. Randoms not knowing what they are doing is a big part in every game like destiny. The different level of players you get in pve is what makes pve somewhat different each time you run an activity. Some runs you are going to curb stomp the boss, and sometimes you are going to fail, and that is ok, just gotta try again at a different time. It is what it is. Also, I believe that with time randoms will learn the mechanics, because unlike the optional heroic public events, they NEED to know the mechanics if they want to finish the event.

Bungie, all we want is a yes or no answer: will we be able to transmog armour from collections?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 04:43 AM PDT

I'm well aware transmog isn't finished yet and probably won't be in game too soon - however, this a question we need an answer to. Right now, I have no idea whether I should dismantle good looking armour that I can't pull out of the collections, or keep it so I can transmog it when transmog is added. An answer to this question in the next few weeks would be very helpful to the community.

Bungie, there is WAY too much trash i n the bright engram

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 10:41 AM PDT

Ive been playing D2 almost religiously since before Forsaken. Im currently sitting at 163 168 on the season pass, which means ive gotten all the season pass engrams and am only getting engram drops every 5 levels. I have not gotten a single weapon ornament, armor ornament, exotic emote, or exotic sparrow yet this season.

Of whats available in the bright engram:

There are 4 exotic weapon ornaments i dont have

5 out of the 6 exotic armor ornaments i dont have

4 out of the 6 exotic emotes I dont have

2 out of 4 exotic sparrows i dont have

1 out of 4 exotic ships i dont have

I have all the transmat effects, all of the shaders, all of the legendary ghosts and sparrows, all of the ghost projections, all of the legendary ships, etc

Out of 18 engrams from the season pass itself, and 12 13 from overleveling the season pass. Out of those 30 31 engrams, every single one of them has been a legendary ghost, small gift of bright dust, or a group of shaders. The only things i remotely care about getting are the worldline zero, heart of inmost light, and transversive steps ornaments.

What gives? At this rate, i wont get a single one of those items before the end of the season. Why even put them in the engram if the probability of getting one is so low? Especially when i already have all of the other stuff in collections...

Back in Destiny 1 we had the taken armor set which gave us the emote Taken Shiver. It would be amazing to have more unique rewards such as that.

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 07:13 AM PDT

It was definitely a thing of beauty. More rewards for playing and completed tasks have more memories and feeling that directly purchasing it.

Decided to go for the mint condition triumph today

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 03:29 PM PDT

So I'm addicted to triumph hunting... And talking to some clan members we decided to go for the mint condition triumph in the dreaming city.

For those that dont know this triumph requires you to complete the rift generator event without it taking any damage at all.

So we start off in a party of 3 and decided to use Titans and to pop a bubble over the generator. Our first attempt consisted of just us 3 and the generator took some damage as our bubble run out and we didn't have a super. Never mind back to the drawing board.

Checked the clan roster and messaged a few people and two more decided to join us. Both on Titans. Nice. Now we just needed to get them into the instance. Checked the roster and there was a lone guardian. A quick message and he decided to join us. We got the other two members of the clan to join him so we had 6 of us. At this point it was 5 Titans and a hunter.

Second attempt begins and we decided to make it heroic but it took damage from a witch. Hmmm. We wait and decide not to make it heroic.

10 minutes go by and the event pop ups. This time an extra 4 guardians were close by. Another two Titans. 7 Titans a warlock and a hunter.

Well this public event became one of the best things I've ever seen in destiny. Rather than strategically placing bubbles and taking it in turns we could just pop a bubble and there was enough orbs to instantly pop another bubble. What ensued was a mass orgy of bubble popping and orbs.

Oh by the way... We got the triumph. Its actually a zero point triumph.

If those random guardians happen to see this, thank you for the laughs.

Why I hope some version of the Menagarie comes back in Beyond light.

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 09:19 AM PDT

Today the menagerie is underused compared to previous seasons, but its concept is impeccable. Here are a couple of reasons why.

    1. Its matchmade!

How many times has the community complained about non matchmade events in D2?

    1. You can customize your rewards.

Yes it is a lot harder to customize menagarie rewards compared to focusing umbral engrams, but there is still a huge customization aspect to it. You used to be able to farm specific things and even still you can go for certain rewards.

    1. Its challenging in a fun way.

It does not punish you for sucking. It does not punish you for having shitty teamwork. Even if you try it today for the first time it is very easy to follow along. You may not complete the objective 100% but you can at least give it a good go, even if you have no idea what you are doing.

    1. It is very manageable to complete.

It doesn't make you start over from scratch or anything like that. You just keep going until you get to the boss.

Finally, Its not overly repetitive. Yes there are only a certain amount of encounters, but you are not guaranteed to play all of them in one run. You could run it 5 times and have a different set and order of encounters.

I think if they bring a similar event in Beyond light, it would be super successful.

Edit: a lot of people have been saying "well sundial and vex offensive are the same thing and they weren't received well" While it is true they had matchmaking and similar loot systems, they just were not fun. Menagerie was made well and its fun to play even if you aren't loot grinding. Vex offensive and sundial were bogged down by bounties and the encounters and variety are just not same.

If I dismantle every single blue engram I get without hesitation, do we really need them?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 07:45 AM PDT

I understand using them to reach max light, but after 1060 (or whatever it will become), blue engrams are a GIANT waste of time.

Hear me out.... more fauna on worlds

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 08:02 PM PDT

I've been thinking a lot that yes, there are enemies almost everywhere you look but they're all the same. You're telling me in this universe there are no animals or creatures that live on these planets?

Imagine you're walking around IO and you walk around the corner to see some crystallized creature going about its business or you're on Nessus and some animal corrupted by the vex technology is helping teach their young how to hunt.

What I'm saying is the game could benefit from some wildlife and variety on the planets. It would really help bring some livelyhood to the worlds

Make future raids drop one ascendant charge (by chance) in either secret chest or final bosses

If you’re aren’t willing to teach a raid on Lfg then don’t write willing to teach a raid.

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 06:05 AM PDT

A couple months ago I was searching for a raid group for Cos or Crown of Sorrows for those that know the raids by names. I find this group called Willing to teach Cos and I clicked on it because I had no idea what to do Cos. The usually sends you a invite and you join it, the guys in here were British which I can understand pretty well. The first couple encounters go by pretty smoothly then it was both boss phase were annoying. I was paired with the host which I understand why because I do the same thing with the new raiders I teach. Took a couple runs to beat the first phase. Then it's final boss phase a hour pass by and the host kicked me for no reason so I dm him on the destiny app asking why I was kicked and he responds with you didn't know what to do. I laughed it off and gave him a bad raid report.

Bungo, please fix Warlock Scatter Grenades

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 11:25 AM PDT

A group of adds were barreling toward me and my teammates. Me: Witness me!!! (As I chuck my scatter grenade).

Does the grenade wipe them out? No, no of course not. It just went boink boink boink before finally breaking off where all these adds used to be.

Bungie, if you can't find it in your heart to fix this long-standing issue then at least re-skin the grenade to make it look like a basketball. That way it makes more sense when this thing bounces all over the damn place.

since the EDZ is sticking around.. put a WEATHER system

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 12:22 PM PDT

rain in the EDZ would certainly be a nice addition...

i mean.. there IS rain on titan, and lightning from the traveler skybox/stormcaller .. we have the assets

let's apply it to a patrol.. would certainly be nice. imagine it raining and being cloudy in the EDZ like in the concept art.. or even foggy!

this would certainly give the European vibe!

damn.. planets sure do need weather variety.

    .

    Watch THIS 7:30-8:10

Bungie DID intend to make patrol zones feel immersive aside from enemies, from sounds to visuals, this new weather system will take that to another level i'm telling you!

Proud Dad moment! Got my 9yr old son through his first raid after only starting on D2 a month ago.

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 07:58 PM PDT

I've been playing since Destiny 1. Fell off shortly before Rise of Iron. Picked back up on D2 through Warmind and Osiris. Fell off again until about the last month or so. Got my boy into it with me and with the help of our OG clan from D1 was finally able to teach him Leviathan and we just beat it start to finish In about 3 hours. He was ecstatic and I couldn't have been prouder and happier for him. He was a better raider than some I've tried on LFG. Just wanted to share our excitement.

To add, it was only his second attempt, and he was using mouse and keyboard on PC.

Buff legendary heavies and Exotic Primaries

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 03:44 PM PDT

Exotic primaries are very underused In the endgame, for the most part they just feel like a normal legendary and then a kinda cool perk thats normally better than something like Rampage or Kill clip, but never good enough for me to use my exotic slot.

Legendary heavies are, save some outliers like Falling Guillotine, super bad and not used for anything. Basically Swords and Spike Grenade launchers are the only things usable. And while they are usable, the gap between them and most Exotics is so huge that using a legendary instead of an exotic feels awful for basically any activity where DPS is somewhat important.

Simply put if we lower the gap between Legendary Heavies and Exotic Heavies, while increasing the gap between legendary primaries and exotic primaries, we can have a healthier meta in the endgame where Exotic primaries are used way more often, legendary heavies are used more often, and Exotic heavies do not hold your exotic slot hostage If you care about killing bosses.

Energy Converter mod is glitched with Celestial Nighthawk. 75-80% super recovery per use.

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 10:30 PM PDT

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUVCy7dqDYo

If you throw your nade as soon as you get a kill with your Golden Gun the super gains of the Nighthawk perk and Energy Converter will stack. The window for throwing the grenade is fairly slim, around .5-1 seconds, but not too hard to hit at all.

How to auto win every Grandmaster Nightfall:

    3 Hunters

    Celestial Nighthawk

Mods: Energy Converter + Taking Charge + Stacks on stacks + 2x Supercharged + Innervation

Just have everyone take turns exploiting this to kill every enemy in the strike. The orbs dropped by your 2 teammates will get you up to 100% super, 5 stacks of charged with light, and the Innervation mod will also recharge your grenade. Totally self sufficient, no risk, Golden gun only, certified busted.

Some easy farms (EP, Leviathan) are getting removed soon, and the five weeks of frames will help pad out this season's extra runtime. You also probably want to get the weapons before they are sunset, so you can use them for at least a bit.
