    Braytech.org

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 07:53 PM PST

Hello! It's time for your annual dose of Braytech Exoscience medicine, Guardian!

I'm Tom, the developer behind Braytech.org.

We're three weeks into Beyond Light and Braytech is finally back up to par and I wanted to extend a personal invitation for you to make a return visit to our facility.

Braytech is a companion web app for Destiny which features a clan roster, collections and triumphs as you see them in game, extensive checklists (with more on the way), the only place you'll find maps, quests, and even reports. Then there's also Xûr, and some other stuff. There's also features inside the features...

I build it for my satisfaction and for the delight I feel when users find it useful. The last addition I added was a lore view to triumphs (Beyond Light really shook my snow globe up) and it's very pretty.

If you like it, tell your fireteam. If you have any cool ideas, share them and we might be able to make it even better! My goal is to be the best companion app, next to DIM.

Alright, thanks for letting me bother you.

FUCK IT! EVERYTHING SHOULD CHARGE LURES

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 02:42 PM PST

All activities, all fuckin everything. If we're being limited to only 3 charges at once and having it charge at a crawls pace then we should at least have the ability to charge it doing other activities than just Strikes, PVP and Gambit

Bungie should just hire me at this point

Banshee is selling Lucent Blade mod today - a must have for sword DPS!

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 09:03 AM PST

Make sure to go buy it guardians! 24 hour gunsmith special ;)

For those of you who don't know what the mod does:

"While Charged with Light, dealing damage with a Sword gives you bonus Sword damage for 5 seconds, consuming one stack of Charged with Light."

It will also passively increase the regen speed of your swords "guard"/heavy attack when another arc mod is slotted, meaning more frequent heavy attacks!

Eyes of Tomorrow's Deceptively Low DPS

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 09:17 AM PST

Not sure how many people have realized this yet, but Eyes of Tomorrow is not the DPS monster it was originally hyped to be. In fact, it isn't even the highest rocket launcher DPS in the game. This is because it seems to have an arbitrary ~50% damage reduction against raid bosses. I managed to drop it last night and took it into a few nightfalls. I was disappointed with the boss damage it was putting out, so I took it to Last Wish to do some damage testing. I was also very disappointed with the result on Kali, so I tried Riven as well just to see if it was some kind of strange interaction. I got the same results, but I saw Ehroar's video claiming it had very good damage so I took it to "Karl" myself and sure enough, it destroyed him just like in the video. So I recorded the damage numbers for One Thousand Voices and Eyes of Tomorrow on Kali, Riven, and Karl (Conduit lost sector boss on Nessus).

    Kali Riven Karl
    Eyes of Tomorrow 32736 42306 121104
    1K Voices 34191 44178 59582

So, taking a look at the damage ratios for 1K and Eyes of Tomorrow, we get:

    Kali/Karl Riven/Karl
    Eyes of Tomorrow .27 .35
    1K Voices .57 .74

As we can see, 1K is dealing about half the damage to Kali as it does to Karl, while Eyes of Tomorrow only deals around one quarter. The numbers for Riven are largely consistent. Essentially, Eyes of Tomorrow experiences a ~50% damage reduction against raid bosses. This has been shown on some lesser-watched youtube channels and is also corroborated in the DPS spreadsheet maintained by u/IAMADragonAMAA here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12vF7ckMzN4hex-Tse4HPiVs_d9huFOKlvUoq5V41nxU/edit#gid=338938407.

The rest of this post will be my personal opinion: Without this damage reduction, Eyes of Tomorrow would be the #1 single-weapon option for DPS in the game by far. As it does indeed deal ~50% damage to raid bosses (and possibly other bosses as well), it is actually a VERY bad DPS weapon. It only barely out-DPS's a legendary rocket launcher with a god roll. I understand that not every weapon needs to be a DPS king, but this really undercuts the weapon to the point of near irrelevance in endgame PvE, particularly in raids. It would be better if the weapon were smoothed and had less extreme parity between different kinds of content. A raid exotic which excels at melting Public Event and Lost Sector bosses, but is specifically completely awful at killing raid(and I also believe nightfall) bosses of all kinds just doesn't make any sense. This specific and extreme reduction in the weapon's damage will forever ensure it is not taken into any encounter with a boss and as an exotic heavy, it will struggle to find a place even in other endgame PvE content.

Clash Deserves To Be A Permanent Option.

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 11:43 AM PST

Honestly I don't know why it's not. Clash is essentially Team Deathmatch which is basically a standard mode in any multiplayer shooter game. Is deserves to have its own permanent spot. Tons of people just go into control and fight it out without paying mind to the points because they don't have the Clash option.

I know this is low on the priority list, and probably beaten to death, but a shader system overhaul would be a very positive change for fashion junkies

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 02:37 AM PST

It's getting increasingly difficult to find shaders I like when I don't have control over the specific colour/material channel, up to the point where I'm just not using some armours or ornaments simply because they don't take shaders the way I'd like, if at all. For example, I think the design of the new seasonal ornaments for Hunt look fantastic, and I really like the red tone of the robes for the warlock specifically. However, I'm not exactly the biggest fan of the hard pieces of the armor which have the glossy brown with orange weathering. I've tried numerous shaders with red in them, but they all have colours for other material channels that don't suit the theme of the armour I'm trying to achieve.

I know theres probably some technical limitation or hurdle, I'm no game developer so I'm hardly the expert, but a system like Warframe's or even Anthem, where you have set colour and material channels for each armour piece, and you can choose the colour and material, would honestly be amazing. That way, shaders would serve more as a palette, rather than a rigid, one size fits all, colour scheme.

Deep Stone Lullaby is a beautiful piece of music that perfectly compliments the gap in the raid.

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 06:23 PM PST

I don't think I can describe how fantastic this piece is.

My team leaves the Atraks encounter with a real sense of satisfaction. But, every time we approach the space walk, we all say "shut up" or "shhh" to listen to this wonderful composition.

Its been a week, but I'm still transfixed by this piece. It is nothing short of a masterpiece that perfectly fits the moment in the raid. I have listened to it whilst cooking dinner, while sitting in quiet contemplation. I'm borderline obsessed with it.

Thank you Bungie, for this amazing music that has tapped into a side of me I didn't know existed.

Please, move Osiris to the hangar next to Saint-14

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 03:18 AM PST

Right now Osiris is in the bazaar doing... nothing. As romantic as it is to send letters and poems to each other, I think it's about time that Saint and Osiris got to spend some quality time together, and after the events of this season, I think Osiris needs the company. It would be nice to see them finally together in the same place, maybe feeding Saint's pigeons together, although for that you would have to make a new animation for Osiris, so just putting him close to Saint, maybe next to the books and candles, would be enough. And if in the future we got some dialogues between them that we could overhear by standing close to them that would be ideal. I still listen to their dialogue in the Devil's Ruin quest from time to time because their banter is adorable.

Edit: For those wondering where Osiris is, here's a screenshot I took today.

Edit 2: Because I'm actually crying tears of joy right now, and because I know there are people that will be as happy as I am right now when they hear about this, I felt the need to share it: Robert Brookes, one of the writers in Bungie, has just confirmed that Saint-14 and Osiris are gay and in love. I can't thank Robert and all the writers in this game enough for caring so much for LGBT and POC representation. I feel more seen today, and for that I'm forever grateful. And now all the more reason to move Osiris to the hangar!

An eververse Engram should be awarded for every tier of the season pass after tier 100

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 08:45 AM PST

If you check the season pass, there is nothing after 100 and it's every 4-5 tiers (I don't remember the exact tiers needed) that are needed to be required to get an Engram.

Make Empire Hunts and Raids count for Lure charges

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 04:53 AM PST

Been doing a lot of Empire Hunts to get Cloudstrike and it irks me that it doesn't charge the Lure. Maybe make the amount charged depend on the difficulty of the NF/EH? Or even give a full charge on a raid completion? Doing old content to gain access to new content does not feel nice.

I find extremely cheeky on Bungie's side that the Forsaken campaign drops sunset pieces of gear despite their non sunset counterpart is in the game.

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 05:07 AM PST

I rerolled my Warlock because I was tired with his aesthetic and proceeded to replay the campaigns. When you get to the part where you kill the Barons, every Baron has a 100% chance of dropping either a weapon (No Turning Back or Death by Scorn) or a piece of armor (Robes or Helmet). Now, the Robes and Helmet are currently in the loot pool with Season of the Hunt symbol, therefore sunsetting in a year, but the ones that drop from the Barons have season of Undying symbol, and are already sunset.

It's a tiny detail, I know, and nobody that hasn't just started playing will care too much, but since the non sunset versions of that gear are in the game, why would I be getting the sunset version? It's pretty stupid.

As someone who frequently teaches raids, DSC final chest vendor has been a god send

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 10:21 AM PST

For those that don't know, after you've done your one run/character in the new raid you can still earn loot. You get the equivalent of one weapons worth of Spoils of Conquest for finishing one full raid (or farm 4 encounters if you're in to that) which you can spend on the final loot chest from the boss. You can select weapons/armor from what you've already acquired.

I'm already at 20+ clears from teaching and I LOVE that I'm actually getting loot!

    Umbral quests are horrible

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 02:13 PM PST

The Umbral quest to unlock more fragments are nothing, but pure irritation. I hate the Vanguard one the most mainly due to the fact their are not enough enemies to kill making compete with your team mates which is the opposite purpose of strikes. Gambit would be find if the things the quest have you do wasn't so idiotic such as get super kills with a stasis hunter which takes an incredibly long time and get slow kills with a warlock and titan which mean they can only use the vortex grenade and they have to be sure to kill the combatants quick before they freeze in it or it won't count. It would be as bad too if it weren't for the unreasonable amount of kills needed to complete the quest. Crucible is the least bad, but I'm NOT a PVP player and I don't want to be forced to do crucible just to have a slightly easier time doing the Umbral quest. Bungie please fix the Umbral quest along with just fixing strike to have way more enemies to kill.

Taniks, The Abomination beat without Guns or Swords

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 04:30 PM PST

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNgh7sne4b4

How we pulled it off: * We had one Nightstalker Hunter and five Chaos Reach Warlocks. The Warlocks would use Aeon Soul most of the time to get grenade energy back very frequently, and would switch to Geomag Stabilizers before damage phase started to make Chaos Reach last longer

    • The Hunter's job was to use a smoke bomb and grenade to stun the boss with the Suppression Augment. While the grenade was damaging Taniks, you could literally just touch the circle under two of the suppression areas and that would complete them, then the smoke bomb could be used on the third section.

    • We're submitting this for Movie of the Week, so hopefully we get lucky

My favourite thing about the warlock stasis melee now is...

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 01:40 PM PST

When you deliberately back off to get some distance so it can actually activate (especially against a group, since half our bounties involve stasis melee final blows!) ...

and you throw it, and instead you view snaps to some other random enemy you didn't see and you instead slap them with a wet fish. No stasis for you!

This has to be a joke, right? Either let it proc on any charged melee, or give it the range back.

Hot take: They created Shaw Han instead of using Shiro-4 for a reason

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 08:18 PM PST

I've seen people lamenting that Bungie decided to create Shaw Han for the Cosmodrome vendor instead of using Shiro-4, even though they share the same English VA.

To many, it seems like a wasted opportunity.

But to me, it seems like Bungie's keeping their options open for Shiro-4 in the story instead of being relegated to a planetary vendor role.

even if they dont end up using him, this leaves him open for a bigger role! (seasonal vendor?)
