    All Ends Are Beginnings

Today marks the last day of our long-standing Community Manager/Communications Director David Dague aka /u/DeeJ_BNG at Bungie.

    A Guardian Rises

As you may know, /r/DestinyTheGame was founded by /u/Cozmo23 almost 8 years ago and Bungie's new Community Manager DeeJ agreed to stop by the subreddit from time to time. When Destiny was nothing more than a name for the next big thing from the makers of Halo that rang through the expanse of the internet. And the rest is history.

    Send in the Cavalry

Over the years /u/Cozmo23 and /u/DMG04 joined the fray as Community Managers (many more joined behind the scenes) and through combined efforts the Community Team did a great job keeping up with the ever-growing, passionate and news-hungry Destiny community all over the internet.

For the next year, I’m hoping more than anything every season isn’t centred on a public event

    Posted: 06 Nov 2020 02:46 PM PST

Every now and again, sure but every season having the same loop in a different location began to drag

Arrivals mixed it up well enough to be effective, especially with the Weapon farm of the recaster

Hope this is the year Destiny really shines

I just cleared my vault and boy will I miss the Black Armory weapons

    Posted: 06 Nov 2020 02:15 AM PST

I ended up keeping them anyway, just for nostalgia's sake. Blast Furnace, Ringing Nail, Kindled Orchid, Tatara's Gaze, Hammerhead.. Hell even the weapons from the raid, the No Feelings, Tempered Dynamo and Threat Level.. That was an incredible set of weapons and they all found a place in my loadouts at some point. I will truly miss them and a part of me hopes Bungie reissues them at some point, it would be the only set of weapons that I wouldn't mind at all seeing over and over again.

    The loss of a Guardian

    Posted: 06 Nov 2020 05:57 PM PST

Let me star by saying if you haven't already tell the people close to you you love them and appreciate them because you never know when it might be your last chance to.

I was scrolling though my clan discord a few minutes ago and one of my mates dropped a picture of a message from another one of our clan mates. The message was from his wife letting him know that our dear friend and fellow guardian had passed way due to health complications from Covid. I see a lot of posts about other guardians losing fellow friends but I never imagined it happening to me. He disappeared a little over a month ago and we could never figure out why and today we finally received the answer as to why in the worst way possible.

I spent many long nights running raids and playing comp with him and although I never knew him personally I considered him a great friend. He alway new how to throw in an awkward phrase or joke that would have us all laughing even when we were frustrated. It's crazy to me how much destiny and bungie have impacted my life. Something so simple as a video game has given me some of the best memories and friends I could ever ask for and today one of those fiends lost his light for good. The fact that I'll never be able to run a raid with him every again or hear him chime in after being completely quit for 20 minutes really saddens me.

We will carry you legacy with us into beyond light and slay many enemies in your honor. ChikenHawkGOLD you will be missed and to his wife although I doubt she will ever see this the Guardians of The Century sends our deepest condolences. </3

    The most ambitious Crossover Event...

    Posted: 06 Nov 2020 07:36 AM PST

Reminder: Most Guardians playing the next few days might have less than three SotP/CoS clears or have never run Levi/SoS/EoW, but they still want that weapon/emote/triumph. Can please we tone down the "Must KWTD or KICK" and "20+ Clears - Checking RR" LFG's and help each other out this weekend?

    Posted: 06 Nov 2020 01:16 PM PST

Pretty much title, but to expand a bit:

We all know that there are only 3 days left (or less depending on where/when you're reading this) to win the Tarrabah/Anarchy RNG Lottery, claim that MMXX Seal, or just finally get the Toast Emote. So it's a safe bet that a lot of guardians are going to be raiding this weekend and some of them are going to be running solo.

For those of you who have run Scourge 19 times, I get it... you'd really like to get the 20th attempt done with minimal wipes. And it makes sense to include "KWTD" in an LFG post if you're running Prestige or farming a catalyst. But almost every SotP or CoS LFG I've seen this week has included some variation of "Must be THIS good to Ride" - which instantly disqualifies and potentially demoralizes a novice Guardian.

To be fair, there have been a good amount of "Anyone Welcome" and "Newbies Only" SoS/GoS LFG's these past few days, courtesy of some benevolent Sherpas. Maybe in the future, Bungie can add "Learn a Raid" to the LFG Activities drop down since the guided games feature seems to be perpetually stuck in Beta. Until then (and particularly over the next 72 hours) can we add "Kinda/Sorta KWTD" to our LFG's and give others the opportunity to figure out which one is the real Gahlran or to destroy the Giant Gundam Mech Servitor?

A hunter main on the hunter dodge nerf.

    Posted: 06 Nov 2020 06:13 AM PST

So I will start by saying that I don't think the nerf is unfair. I'll also say that dodge is the best ability in the game. But there's a bunch of stuff I've been seeing in all threads about this nerf that makes me scratch my head. Primarily it's people listing every positive you can get from dodge as a reason it's OP and I don't think that's really being honest.

Here are some of the things people mention when talking about dodge.

It makes you go invisible. On 1 subclass out of 9 that has the worst super in the game and one of the lowest play rates. I can't find the exact as guardian.gg lists all trees of each class together and mid tree Nightstalker is obviously a huge bump in numbers but I would imagine most people can agree that top tree Nightstalker isn't a great class and is typically ranked as D tier. Saying hunter dodge makes you invisible is exactly as accurate as saying warlocks have dodge.

Breaks aim assist/reloads weapons. It does both of these things but unless you're using Dragons Shadow it only does one or the other.

    Heals you. Only with Wormhusk.

    Disorients enemies. Only with Jesters.

Think if we used this logic on Rift/Barricade. You could say Barricade gives you a health bump, can be shot through, sends out a wave of fire, and empowers your melee and grenades. But that's not fair as it's hyperbole to act like that's all possible.

You could say that Rift gives you true sight, extends your weapon range, gives you Arc buddies, recharges faster around enemies/allies, and release a damaging pulse on cast. Again this would be hyperbole.

My point in all this is that while I don't really have an issue with the nerf I think it's best to not look at every possible positive and lump them together when you're thinking about/discussing an ability.

Bungie please for the love of god give Verity's Brow an ornament

    Posted: 06 Nov 2020 11:11 AM PST

The perk for the helmet does a lot of different things. Any kill with an energy weapon gives reduced grenade cooldown and extra damage. Throwing a grenade gives your teammates a reduced grenade cool down. I want to use this helmet so badly. Problem is... it's so UGLY. If it had an ornament that took it from 0 to hero like the stag's did I would be using it 24/7.

Surrounded and Dragonfly should not have to sacrifice the weapon mod slot to reach their full potential

    Posted: 06 Nov 2020 03:06 AM PST

Rampage, Swashbuckler, Multikill Clip, High Impact Reserves, Firing Line, Full Court, etc do not require mods to reach their maximum damage.

Why is this different for Surrounded and Dragonfly? There is literally no reason; no particular advantage that Surrounded or Dragonfly would have over other damage perks if they didn't rely on their associated mods to be good.

Yes, rampage does require rampage spec to reach its maximum duration, but rampage is already extremely powerful without ever needing this mod. It doesn't NEED it to be good in the first place. Surrounded and Dragonfly currently NEED their associated mods to be any good at all.

Without its mod, the radius of Surrounded is too small, it doesn't linger when the player is no longer surrounded, and the damage boost it provides is pathetic given the tiny radius and conditions for activation

Without its mod, the blast radius of dragonfly is too small, and even if it was big enough, the damage it deals is pathetic.

Surrounded and Dragonfly specs need to be removed, and the perks need to be buffed to match how they currently behave with the mods equipped.

I hope Randal has his own Lost Sector in the new Cosmodrome

    Posted: 06 Nov 2020 09:56 AM PST

With Lost Sectors being a thing in D2, I really hope our favorite Vandal has his own little hideout as a lost sector right behind where he used to spawn. I think its an obvious spot for one.

Side note, the loot cave would also be an awesome lost sector location.

I Redeemed Over 24000 Calus Tokens, Here Are The Results:

    Posted: 06 Nov 2020 09:22 AM PST

    SPREADSHEET LINK:

Always thought stuff like this was neat, so figured I'd see what happens. Basically, I opened over 1200 Calus Packages over the past two months. Here's proof.

You can view every single piece of armor I received and the stat roll in the spreadsheet above, but below is a generic summary. You'll get a lot more information by checking the sheet out.

Approximately 20% of packages turned into a weapon (246/1220). Within the 246 weapons, there were 82 Ghost Primuses, 42 Sins of the Past, 33 Conspirator, 30 Mob Justice, 30 Inaugural Address and 29 It Stared Back.

The remaining 80% of packages were armor pieces (974/1220). Helmet and Chest were the most common at 207 drops, followed by Class Item at 197, then Arms at 194, and Legs were significantly the least with only 169.

The average base stat role was around 60.4 to 60.55 for all except the helmet, which was 60.2.

Helmets saw resilience having the highest average, with recovery being the lowest. The highest stat roll for helmet was 66 (2 times) and the lowest was 51 (1 time), with 61 being the most common stat (44 times). Strength saw the highest individual stat at 29.

Arms saw recovery having the highest average, with mobility being the lowest. The highest stat roll for arms was 67 (3 times) and the lowest was 53 (1 time), with 61 being the most common stat (31 times). Both intellect and strength seeing the highest individual stat at 28.

Chest saw mobility having the highest average, with resilience being the lowest. The highest stat roll for chests was 67 (2 times) and the lowest was 55 (4 times), with 60 being the most common stat (41 times). Both resilience and discipline seeing the highest individual stat at 27.

Boots saw discipline having the highest average, with mobility being the lowest. The highest stat roll for boots was 67 (1 time) and the lowest was 54 (2 times), with 61 being the most common stat (30 times). Resilience saw the highest individual stat roll at 27.

EDIT: Every single token was redeemed on a Hunter.

After an entire season's worth of grind, I've accomplished my goal!

    Posted: 06 Nov 2020 03:03 AM PST

Just wanted to share what I think is a pretty cool achievement that I've worked on. I've finally done it!

Ever since Season of Arrivals launched, I've considered going for the highest power level I deemed feasible. I calculated that through a daily routine that I've been running for almost a year, I'll be able to reach +51 on my artifact and get a power level of 1111.

My dedication paid off, and yesterday I finally hit my goal! Now I'll be saving some daily bounties in preparation for Beyond Light, and my grind can begin anew.

Just to answer some obvious questions:

    • The loadout you see there is just my standard PvE loadout. I use more specialized gear in specific raids or nightfalls, but this is my generalist charged with light loadout with 3 ways to get charged and Protective Light.

    • I am a Titan main but I play some Warlock too. Hunter is just my PvP class.

    • Yes, that is a SIVA aesthetic.

    • My daily routine was comprised of doing 4 daily vanguard, 5 repeats, 4 daily gunsmith with 5 repeats, 4 daily recaster with 5 repeats, and then doing dailies on 7 planets - EDZ, Titan, Nessus, Io, Mercury, Mars, Moon (With 5 random bounties). On good days this took roughly 50-55 minutes, on bad days this could take around 90 minutes, sometimes a bit more.

    • My daily routine netted me roughly 450,000 XP every day, along with 30 planetary mats for each planet, 50 bright dust, 4 enhancement cores and 100 altered element, not to mention a few umbrals and usually 1 prime engram. I only cashed in bounties with maxed out "Shared Wisdom" as well, for a cool +12% XP per bounty.

    • I got a crapton of cosmetics from bright engrams (got every single thing in this season's engram pool) as well as a lot of Bright Dust and Legendary Shards. Economy-wise, the grind paid off as I'm perfectly ready for beyond light in terms of currency.

    • Doing dailies also got me about 5,000 weapon telemetries, 6,000 vanguard tokens and 7,000 crucible tokens, as well as around 30,000 gunsmith materials.

    • My clan raids regularly so I got a lot of XP from that as well.

    • Why? Because I could, really. I accomplished many seasonal goals this season, multiple flawless raids and getting reckoner+conqueror as well as many other titles and triumphs, but I wanted to end the season on 1111 just as a token of commitment to the game, especially coming in to beyond light.

    • Master activities are basically a cakewalk because of +31 light.

Last call for Izanagi's Burden. If you haven't started or finished. Friday reset is the last Bergusia Forge.

If you're like me you need to purchase a bunch of (raid) exotics at the kiosk. Even if you haven't started, you can still get Izanagi. grind one forge each day. The toughest part will be the Black armory key mold that needs to be crafted b4 Saturday Reset and that rare bounty.

Written Raid Guides - For those interested!

    Posted: 06 Nov 2020 12:47 PM PST

With the launch of Beyond Light imminently approaching and considering this weekend will be the last opportunity for many Guardians to finish all the content going into the DCV I felt I should share my written raid guides.

I genuinely feel Destiny's Raids are some of the best content video games have to offer. They are fun, challenging and generally speaking, a rewarding experience. Whether you're a D1 Vet or a Kinderguardian I HIGHLY recommend trying the raids before they're gone!

Why a written guide? I can only speak from my own experience so what I'll simply say is for me personally I find it makes the initial experience of navigating an unfamiliar raid a little bit easier. I'll freely admit watching/reading a guide and actually doing it yourself are two different things. However, if you're like me and prefer to read a straightforward guide I've got you mostly covered.

Below are links (google docs) to each of my guides to the respective raid.
***Unfortunately I never did a guide for Eater of Worlds however, I promise if that raid ever comes back I'll do one!!!***

    Leviathan - Here

    Spire of Stars - Here

    Last Wish - Here

Scourge of the Past - Here

    Crown of Sorrow - Here

    Garden of Salvation - Here

As you may notice with these guides I tried to focus almost exclusively on the actual mechanics of each encounter as (in my experience), strategies tend to change over time as new weapons, exotics, perks, buffs, nerfs, sandbox changes and sub-class updates are introduced. I do give some very basic general suggestions on strategies but again I tend to focus on the mechanics.

Also, if I could give any advice to any aspiring new raiders out there it would be what I refer to as the 3 C's of Raiding.

    1) Communication - You need to be able to effectively communicate during a Raid. Whether it's calling out specific buffs, de-buffs, symbols, icons, timers, enemies etc... You must learn when to speak up and when to be quiet so others can do so.

    2) Cooperation - You must be able to cooperate effectively and efficiently in nearly every Raid encounter. Team work makes the dream work. Even if it means taking on a role you may not necessarily be comfortable with I recommend it because you will expose yourself to more/different roles in the Raid and ultimately gain a better understanding of how it all works.

    3) Coordination - You should make a concerted effort to co-ordinate where necessary each mechanic of your role within each encounter. It's one thing to understand it, it's another to be able to effectively and efficiently execute it. Sometimes it's easy sometimes it's not. Sometimes experience really is the only teacher.

You may fail 9 times before you get it right. What matters is YOU GOT IT RIGHT!!! They say experience and failure are two of the best teachers in life. As a personal example it took me nearly 14 attempts before I finally finished the Leviathan raid. The 13 prior attempts sucked but also helped me understand what I needed to do to be successful.

Lastly, a final piece of advice is once you've got a clear on a Raid you've been want to complete and go back in, eyeing that specific role on that shotgun you want. Don't be afraid to switch up your roles, your subclass, your loadouts etc... Expose yourself to more of the game and more of the Raid and it's encounters/mechanics and you truly start to master them. Maybe even go for a title for two!

Please forgive me if this post isn't formatted correctly this might be the first or second time I've ever posted on Reddit... (Long time lurker)

Factions and Foundries should make a comeback using the Umbral/Recaster/Obelisk/Bunker system.

    Posted: 06 Nov 2020 04:18 PM PST

    Hear me out

    Updated Factions

You can earn umbrals (or the equivalent of umbrals) in a future season that can be redeemed by the Faction vendor that you are affiliated with. Those can be focused into anything in the past and future Faction pools.

The new vendor screens could be like the Obelisk/Bunker/Recaster in that you earn ranks, rewards for the ranks in forms of mods or buffs, and bounties that give you *extra currency and Faction rank.*extra currency and rank on top of what you earn as you play naturally so you don't feel forced to grab them.

Factions will return to their "always active" nature like in D1. Their focused engram types (like the improved arsenal focusing row) can rotate weekly just like Trails loot. A reward in the form of a cosmetic can be earned by maxing the weekly rank requirements.

ALSO, these new umbrals do not take up a spot in your prime engram stash. They always wait for you as you earn them at your pledged Faction vendor. You can have a Faction reputation item in your inventory that displays information of your rank and active rewards.

    Foundry Weekly event

The foundry vendors could take the shape of Suros, Veist, Omolon, etc. Frames (think this was theorized a while ago based on some unconfirmed leaks.) These Frames could appear in the social space(s) as seasonal events; on rotation with events like Iron Banner, Fotl, Crimson Days, Dawning.

Bringing back the past foundry weapons from D1 and D2 as well as new weapons in a Weapon Crafting system. This system could take inspiration from the Menagerie crafting where you can shape the rewards based on how you defeat enemies and complete activities. Activity specific or Faction specific weapons will have to be earned by participating in the respective activity and/or pledging to the respective Faction while this event is active. This crafting can take the shape of an earned foundry voucher after the recipe requirements are met ie. if you want to craft a Suros HC with range MW than you have to headshot a number of enemies from a distance. This can be more forgiving than it sounds in the same way the Chalice had options in its recipes. You could even see a buff pop up on the left of your screen when your kill met the requirements.

Along with this event could come with a participation ticket. In the same vain as the FotL masks, you can opt into the event that changes how you earn things within that week. Activating the ticket could alter the engrams/loot you earn from enemies such as auto-dismantling rare engrams into the events currency. Currencies that you would normally get are set aside in favor of the foundry's donations. Instead of forcing players back to the tower because of full inventories, they can just be applied to the vendor screen as well as the participation ticket (like legendary shards or glimmer.)

This loop would play out like so:

    1. Grab a participation ticket from the Suros Vending Frame.
    2. Using the ticket you specify that you want to earn a Suros hand cannon with a range mw.
    3. You then fire up the Crucible playlist and equip a Nature of the Beast HC.
    4. While participating in pvp, you earn foundry currency that helps you to redeem weapon vouchers.
    5. After a couple matches and enough precision kills, you are rewarded with a Suros HC voucher.
    6. You redeem your voucher with the Suros vendor and are rewarded with a rr Annual Skate with a range mw.
    7. After turning in this voucher you see that you've ranked up the vendor allowing you to pursue two active vouchers at a time. *this rank for each foundry remains consistent throughout the season.

*An example of an earnable seasonal pinnacle buff for a vendor could be "Any Suros weapon can make progress on your active vouchers." A lot like the clan buff system.

Just a thought as I wait for BL. I didn't edit it so it may sound a bit janky, but my heart is in the right place.

With only a few days left, and after a month of grinding, I now have the Platinum Starling

I took the simple approach of 3 forges per frame. I know that it isn't the most optimized way to do it but somehow I don't hate forges after going through all this. I had 20-ish frames when I started the grind from going after the legendarys but the rest were completed in the last month. About 75 of them were bow frames with the other 5 being either public event or strike frames. I used the Trinity Ghoul + Catalyst for the entirety of the grind racking up a total of 6276 kills. That total includes all of my kills in the forges as well as the large amount of times that I used Trinity Ghoul outside of the forges.

This will probably be the last time Xur ever sets foot on Io

What locations do you all think Bungie will send Xur in BL instead of Io and Titan?

Possibly the Tangled Shore and the Moon?

Destiny 2 Load Times: PS5 vs Xbox Series X vs Samsung NVMe 860 EVO

    Posted: 06 Nov 2020 06:47 AM PST

    • Xbox Series X to Menu: 47 Seconds

    • PS5 to Menu: 57 Seconds

    • From Steam Boot PC Samsung M.2 860 EVO to Menu: 43-50 Seconds (Tested it multiple times results vary)

    • Xbox Series X orbit to EDZ: 29 Seconds

    • PS5 orbit to EDZ: 39 Seconds

    • PC Samsung M.2 860 EVO to EDZ: 28 Seconds

    Edit:

Mistake its is not an NVME it's only a m.2 SATA. 970 EVO Plus is NVMe - This will probably be even faster if anyone has it and can test it.
