Deep Stone Crypt World First Winners Posted: 23 Nov 2020 02:21 PM PST Source: https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/49873 Many fireteams pushed through the cold and into the unknown in search of mystery with hopes of glory. But in the end, only one would be able to make the claim of being the first in the world to defeat the new raid. Our team took the necessary time to review the completion and have validated the run. Here are the winners of the Deep Stone Crypt World First raid race with a time of 5h 29m 10s!
We were able to finish our review and make the official announcement yesterday but wanted to publish the promised post today in case anyone missed it over the weekend. It was thrilling watching this race from home. There were some ups and downs, and many teams came extremely close to taking down the final boss, but in the end these six Guardians from the clan Luminous rose above the rest and were the first to finish. Each member of the fireteam is going to be receiving one of these fancy World First Raid Titles with their name on it. Thank you to everyone who took the time to prepare and compete in this race. It's always inspiring to watch the community tackle these raid encounters and showcase your sensational PvE skills. We saw a lot of teams finish close behind the winners and many more were able to get a clear while Contest Mode was still active and claim the coveted 24-hour emblem. Congrats again to clan Luminous, and for anyone who hasn't got a chance to play it yet, Deep Stone Crypt awaits your arrival. [link] [comments] |

TIL Elsie Bray had a rockin’ bod even before she became an exo Posted: 23 Nov 2020 03:26 PM PST One of the dead exos you find talks about how she's tripping over herself because her one-size-fits-all exo body doesn't match her original, and complains that it's unfair that Elizabeth Bray was allowed to have a custom body that matched her original form. So it's 100% canonical that human Elsie Bray was STACKED. [link] [comments] |
Bungie, please replace Hawthorne’s dialogue Posted: 23 Nov 2020 07:42 AM PST Bungie, please replace Hawthorne's dialogue when completing the weekly clan challenge. The Red War campaign is gone. Stop referencing it. It should have been updated when Forsaken launched. Should have been updated when Shadowkeep launched. And now that we're basically in an entirely new era of Destiny and it's story telling and evolution with Beyond Light, she needs to say something different. Tired of hearing "Took out Ghaul, woke up the traveler.....blah, blah". Honestly, new light players will have literally no idea what any of this is. They'll essentially be asking who Ghaul is and how do they fight him? Answer: can't It's definitely time to replace this dialogue, even if it means just getting a random Bungie employee to record all of the voice work without hiring an extra actor. Please please please change this! Edit: holy crap! Didn't expect this to blow up over the course of the day. I'm enjoying reading a lot of these comments. Making me laugh good. Keep 'em coming! Let's see where I'm at in the morning Edit 2: Gold! Wow! Didn't expect that! Still enjoying the comments. Keep them coming. Let's see where I'm at in the morning [link] [comments] |
Gladd’s “Day One Emblem” Take is Bad. Also: Wrong. Posted: 23 Nov 2020 01:37 PM PST The Take:My Response:Gladd and co. (as evidenced by their using it throughout their race, and probably still using it over the DSC day one emblem) would likely prefer it that every day one emblem and/or trophy be, for one reason or another, just as rare as the Last Wish emblem. (To a lesser extent, Garden's: roughly 0.001% of players own LW, roughly 0.011% own Garden's.) Bearing in mind, LW's emblem is as rare as it is because the Forsaken power grind was so god-awful that it literally took bounty/pinnacle bounty drop hoarding, luck on Exotic drops and Prime Engrams, and having to leverage the Prime Engram bug in order to even be competitive in the marathon that was World's First Last Wish. That's not an acceptable precedent to set, yet it's the Raid and emblem they treasure most because of how unattainable that race was to the wider playerbase. In a vacuum, I'd say; "okay, fair." I like rare stuff too. But that day one wasn't so out of reach for pure difficulty or challenge reasons of course. Rather, it was arguably more a result of a poorly-implemented power grind only manageable by people who literally play Destiny for a living. If poor design choices or a poor leveling curve/experience is what makes way for their favorite trophies, then I'd rather they continue to throw shade at "handout rewards," and every future day one emblem have ownership more akin to DSC's. That scenario in all likelihood means that the rest of the game surrounding that Raid and day one marathon was in better shape at the time of the Raid's drop; it should go without saying that this is the healthier outcome. Are Bugs Good Too?I wonder if he/they (if others in the Raid race circles) also like that Garden's emblem is so rare in part because the tether and motes mechanics, and just final boss generally, had so many visual or latency/server-side bugs for many day one teams that it was a nightmare. So for many teams it was such a challenge more for reasons beyond execution or prep. It was a technical mess on day one as we played on likely packed or at least heavily-stressed servers. Buggiest Raid I have ever played when it launched. But hey! In the end, this did make that emblem rarer, when groups like mine had to spend three times as long as we should've needed to at Sanctified Mind when the floors were bugging out visually, motes picked up as laggy as they do in Gambit or worse, tether would sometimes be active but invisible, etc. Can't even list all bugs here, there were 100% more my team never even ran into. Is it good it was just out of reach of many a team's hands because of bugs in the encounter? It certainly makes the emblem club smaller and the ownership percent lower. Closing Thoughts:I'll take the thousands of clears (likely a bit overstated though on Raid Report's site, check Braytech.org for more accurate numbers) compared to 99 or so for Garden and like, 3 for Last Wish. I'll take them any day if it's because the game was in better shape at the time. Anyone who'd have it differently can and should continue to cry foul if this trend sorta continues, because this trend towards more people getting day one emblem is for an absolutely good reason. (Albeit it won't be as high a number as DSC maybe ever again, since pandemics/quarantines don't exactly happen any old year.) The vast majority of players benefit from a more polished game, and yeah, a less "nuclear" power grind/prep cycle is better for everyone. To these community circles asking for extremely rare trophies, I'll say this: want a trophy that's still super-rare and not because fundamental game systems are seriously flawed? Emblems like After the Nightfall exist, for instance. Don't bemoan loot/trophies being acquired more as a result of in-game systems being made better than in past DLC. People can't make a million vids to the tune of "HOW BUNGIE CAN FIX D2's BROKEN LOOT AND LEVELING" then say when fixes occur "that they made the pinnacle of PvE rewards too attainable," when it comes as a result of those issues finally getting properly addressed. EDIT (only one): I, like many who got their day one emblems watching ahead of our team on streams like Gladd's, Datto's, so on, respect the guy. But honestly, this take of his was just bad, and it has an implication that improvements to everyone's experience with the game (via fixing issues even acknowledged by personalities like Gladd himself) are ultimately in the way of preserving the rarity and prestige of the emblems and accomplishment of day ones. I'm not here to call him anything but someone who had a bad take on this emblem conversation as it relates to the new Raid, and what ramifications that stance carries when you look at it big-picture. Nerf warlock stasis all you need to for PvP, but the nerfs on PVE are really felt, and seem extreme. Posted: 23 Nov 2020 08:49 AM PST Title, but the warlock's stasis melee is laughably bad now. Too close and it's just a normal punch, too far away and it goes nowhere. Meanwhile titans smash and hunters get 2... Keep PvP and pve nerfs separate!! [link] [comments] |

Pulling exotics from collection at 1050 is very annoying, please revert back to LL-20 Posted: 23 Nov 2020 05:41 PM PST Some times Bungie pulls an absolute random move out of nowhere. Now exotics are insanely annoying to use because you can't just pull them spontaneously because of the 1050 ... Meaning you have to have : 1) a blue item that u Don't need at the ready 2) u have to use an unnecessary upgrade module 3) it just takes time to : pull --> find useless gun --> infusion (if you have modules left) store the exotic in the vault because you don't want to delete a 1250 in a vault that is already running out of space. And maybe you need it later. And if you don't have the blue ready, well, have fun launching the app searching other characters. It's a mess honestly. Usually I would pull the exotic, do the thing I thought would be great usage for that specific exotic, then delete it losing mats in the process which is fine. But now, going through the cycle just takes a lot of time and planing (you have to store random blues now?) And the vault is just full of exotics, which was the SPECIFIC REASON why collection was created !! Why? [link] [comments] |
The year is 2022. Lightfall has just been released. Posted: 23 Nov 2020 07:27 PM PST New players soon find a secret mission just like The Whisper and Zero Hour. It brings back another revamped, beloved exotic from D1. And of course... You must fight Taniks, the Ultimate Ascended Death Machine Supreme God of Darkness in order to get it Is he now Fallen? Cyborg? Exo? Taken? Vex? no He is the primordial darkness incarnate [link] [comments] |

Posted: 23 Nov 2020 05:06 PM PST As the title states, my team and I finished the new Deep Stone Crypt raid about 30 minutes before the 24 hours was up. But, when the final boss was just about dead during the final stand phase, my game crashed with a broccoli error code (which is a driver crash from the looks of it, which I can't do anything about.) My team defeated the boss, but because my game crashed and, according to Destiny, I didn't finish the raid, I didn't get the emblem. I streamed the entire thing, and this is the moment it happened (spoilers btw). You can hear my rage as I just realized the many hours I just put into this raid were all for nothing. I spent 23 hours in that raid, constantly trying and eventually finishing every encounter (that second encounter was really hard for us). And that's not counting the many, many hours I spent grinding to get my light level up to 1230 before raid day. It just really sucks to have gone through all that work, and not finish the raid and mainly not get the emblem because of something I could never have seen coming or have prevented. I don't care about the raid weapons or armor or the exotic, I'll get all of those eventually. I just want something to show that I went through all the work to get the 24 hour emblem just like everyone else, because I did. It's just extremely unfortunate that my game crashed right before my team and I were about to clear the raid. I will supply any other information to bungie if I need to, I just want the emblem that I should have gotten. If at least one good thing came from this, it would be all of the super hardcore gamers in my clan (my friends from the other raid group who actually finished the raid a few hours before us) coming into the voice chat to try and get me the emblem with only 30 minuets remaining. While we weren't successful in getting it done, these people are the best people I've had the pleasure of playing with. Their actions almost bring me to tears. Shoutout to the Drifter's Dropouts, y'all are seriously breathtaking, and I love you all. [link] [comments] |

I really like the random minibosses you can kill on Europa for legendary gear Posted: 23 Nov 2020 07:57 PM PST They're nothing major and you can just go up and dunk on any you see for a free guaranteed legendary. It really rewards dicking around on Europa completing other stuff, instead of just being forced to grind Empire Hunts over and over again. And then again, they aren't the only source of loot, so you aren't getting fucked over by whether or not you catch a Brig spawning or not. They're a nice optional additional reward, and I wish we saw more of that. It's nice killing a miniboss and getting something better than two tokens and a blue, y'know? And on that note, I think that every public event should always reward legendary gear. Only makes sense. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Nov 2020 10:13 PM PST If by Lightfall I am not fighting a Sivarifed, Taken, Darkness Weilding, Shankriding, Brig Artilery Using, Throne World Obtaining Taniks With A Pet Spider Tank and at least one arm per light/dark race of Destiny, all weiding former Raid Relics, in SOME kind of content be as simple as a Patrol or as complex as a raid... what the fuck are you even doing with this game. And have him drop his cloak too. [link] [comments] |
As much fun as Europa is, the lay out of the map in relation to the transmat point is very annoying. Posted: 23 Nov 2020 03:07 PM PST Europa basically has 3 zones that matter. Making us have to go through either Asterion Abyss or Cadmus Ridge every time to get to the Eventide Ruins is so annoying. The Dreaming City has 3 main zones just like Europa. It also has one transmat zone (I don't count Europa's EXO Stranger transmat zone). But at least in the Dreaming City you didn't have to go through another zone if you wanted get to the one furthest away from you. Now we have to go through either Asterion Abyss or Cadmus Ridge to get to the Eventide Ruins. It's so tedious! I feel like the whole crossroads and Variks' house was put there just to make the map look/feel bigger. Remove the transmat zone at the Stranger and just put it either in the North of Asterion Abyss or south of Eventide Ruins. It would make the lives of our Guardians much easier. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 23 Nov 2020 04:40 AM PST Simply put: He tried to drop a nuke on us in the form of the space station, that failed, and he's the only Destiny antagonist to go "Well that didn't work, but I'm still alive right now. Better quit while I'm ahead and start helping out in SOME fashion if I don't want to be unplugged again." [link] [comments] |

Deep Stone Crypt Desolation Map and Path (sparrow section) Posted: 23 Nov 2020 08:33 AM PST Hi All, here is a pretty basic layout of the first sparrow section of Deep Stone Crypt raid called Desolation. It's not the most accurate or pretty, but its decently close. It's still a work in progress and I'll update when I can and if I make a more detailed version but I figured it could be useful. Apologize for my sick MS Paint skills :D Red dots are spider mines [link] [comments] |
It'd be really cool if we could exchange exotic ciphers for ascendant shards Posted: 23 Nov 2020 07:26 AM PST We don't have too many sources of ascendant shards, and some players really dislike nightfalls or have every exotic already. It'd be cool if we could spend our exotic cipher on an ascendant shard so that we could get at least 1 a week by doing Xur's quest. [link] [comments] |
Raid chest guide for solo players Posted: 23 Nov 2020 06:06 AM PST Hey, getting the chests this week is super easy thanks to some weird geometry and a cheese. I figured I'd make a video going over how to use these to get both deep stone crypt chests for those of you who want some spoils of conquest. It's doable on all 3 characters, so you can get a total of 60 spoils, along with some nifty raid mods. I demo'd it on my hunter since jumping puzzles are hardest on them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMPfXCg_XzI&ab_channel=Ahnock *edit: Thanks to some helpful tips, I made a better route. Also more in-depth on the sparrow section for those of you that don't know the path. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7M7vGwKKIP4&ab_channel=Ahnock [link] [comments] |
Here's the Deep Stone Crypt Loot Table - with added info for the raid's Cache of the Crypt vendor Posted: 23 Nov 2020 10:59 AM PST I looked to see if there was a table out there already but I couldn't find one, so I made For those that don't know, the legendary weapons and armor in DSC appear to be farmable with the new "Spoils of Conquest" (SoC) currency you get when beating raid encounters and opening secret chests. When you beat the final boss in DSC, your drop for the encounter appears next to the chest, but interacting with the chest gets you this UI. It looks like any raid gear you've had drop for you so far is sold for 20 SoC. Alternatively, it looks like you can take a gamble to get a piece of gear that hasn't dropped for you yet by paying 60 SoC for one of the "Crypt Caches" at the top of the UI. Each of those caches corresponds to the loot drops from a specific encounter in the raid. So if you're impatient and have farmed up enough SoC, you might be able to get a new drop from one of those cache's. Hovering over the caches gives the details of what gear drops from them, which is where I got the info for this image. I'm not 100% sure it will drop gear you haven't gotten yet, because the only example I found of this came from Datto's first raid clear where he bought a cache and got a weapon he already had drop earlier in the raid. If the caches don't let you get gear you haven't had drop before, then I'm not sure what the point of them is, since they're 3x more expensive than just buying the gear outright down below. Also in the UI picture above, you'll see there's six pieces of gear available for purchase. Those greyed out couldn't be bought because there was no available inventory slot for them. I took that screenshot from iLulu's stream earlier today and it might be that she had run multiple classes through the raid already, and the weapon drops might carry over from class to class as well. Again, I'm not 100% sure as I've not completed the raid yet myself (Status: Calamitous). I did open up the secret chest in the opening sparrow run and got 10 SoC on each character for that. It looks like iLulu got 5 SoC from completing the final boss fight. u/Freakindon clarified in the comments that you get 5 SoC from completing an encounter if you already beat that encounter that week. So 5 SoC from each raid encounter (4 encounters in DSC) and 10 from each DSC secret chest (2 chests in DSC), that's 40 SoC per full raid run after your first weekly clear, meaning you might be able to purchase 2 gear rolls on those clears. Nezarec's Sin got stealth-nerfed Posted: 23 Nov 2020 08:26 AM PST Basically title. Before Beyond Light, it would only give two seconds on the first kill to proc Abyssal Extractors, but then 5 seconds per kill afterwards to maintain the buff if you already have it active. The only caveat is that before BL, the first kill would not count multis individually, so you could kill a horde of thrall with a single GL shot and only get 2 seconds off of that first proc. Video evidence here. Post-Beyond Light, it now only gives a flat two seconds on every kill. They did make it so that the first kill to proc the perk counted multikills separately, so now killing four thrall with a single GL shot will give 8 seconds right off the bat, but now it's so much more difficult to maintain the buff since getting a kill every two seconds is vastly harder than just getting one every five seconds. Video evidence here. This is pretty much a nerf in nearly every sense; the only positive that came out of it is that very specific weapons (Fighting Lion, other void GLs, etc.) can get multiple procs off of that first proc'ing multi, but in general (Dragonfly, DoT grenades, Graviton Lance, etc.), you're going to be getting your kills consecutively rather than concurrently, so you're having a much harder time maintaining the buff at an average of double your previous rate, not to mention sunsetting and the increase in difficulty of general adds makes add clearing even more difficult than it was before. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Nov 2020 01:24 PM PST To put some context here, the new raid exotic, Eyes of Tomorrow, downright the most powerful raid exotic ever released, fires a salvo of multiple lock-on rockets that deal massage damage to multiple targets and provides massive burst damage on single targets, plus killing 4 enemies in a volley gives it an extra-damage buff making it an all-round pick. What this basically is is the overpowered version of the Two-Tailed Fox. It's existence in the game only solidifies the absolute need to buff Two-Tailed Fox, which is currently one of the least used exotic heavies in the game, yet has some of the greatest potential as well. Background: Two-Tailed Fox fires two rockets, one is a Solar rocket that burns the target, and the other is a Void rocket that suppresses an enemy (preventing captain teleports and taken abilities). Pros: Two rockets are better than one, the burning ability provides a way to focus on something else, and suppress prevents annoying enemy abilities. Cons: Two rockets are obviously nowhere near as good as (at least) six, damage potential during longer DPS phases is ruined by reload time, Anarchy does a better job at multiple-focus than TTF burn rocket, and the rockets do about the same amount of burning/suppressing as the corresponding grenade abilities. Potential buffs: Rocket damage, burn time/damage and suppress time, adding a third arc rocket that leaves behind a field of damaging electric energy (like the Fists of Havoc aftermath on top/middle tree), and/or the addition of a catalyst to create orbs, (EDIT: From /u/deafengineer;) "Maybe make it modular, like you can slot the elements to have desired effects, like Murmur in D1. Add Stasis munitions to deliver a slow effect, you can pick two types of rockets." [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Nov 2020 10:43 AM PST When it comes to these content drops I consume it quite voraciously and can't pace myself to spread out the enjoyment. That was much worse last season obviously, but in these seasons I am always stuck dropping off after I get my pinnacles and have done all the activities. This is the day before week 3 and it's nice to see some timegating that feels more organic in nature. It artificially lengthens the enjoyment, yes, but having stuff like the eclipse zones after raiding is a neat flavor and is reminiscent of the curse and allows for spamming stasis to get through the born in darkness quest. I hope that Bungie continues to weave the timegated content to feel like the post-raid stuff and not like it's arbitrary. If you're on a subreddit for this game, chances are you're in the group of people that will consume this content on an orders-of-magnitude greater rate than it can be made and that can leave us lacking with nothing to do. That's why I like this slow burn instead of knocking most of the season stuff all at once. [link] [comments] |
