Bungie's changing the power grind from 50 per season to 10 per season and capping the power requirement for VoG challenge mode at only 1310 allowed me to partake in my first day one raid race ever and I couldn't be more grateful.

    Posted: 24 May 2021 12:27 PM PDT

Pretty much the title. I've been playing Destiny since the D1 Beta and am your typically dad gamer that has too much to do between work and family to dedicate the high number of hours that it used to take to hit the light cap to get raid ready. I've never had the opportunity to be a part of the day one raid race because of that... until now. It took my group 21 hours and 7 minutes to clear both modes and I couldn't be more jazzed about it. Plus I got a god roll Fatebringer and Mythoclast on my very first run to boot. THANK YOU BUNGIE.

Edit: Cap was 1300. Silly me.

VoG highlighted a new emerging problem within endgame PvE, but no one is really talking about it

    Posted: 24 May 2021 09:06 AM PDT

First off, I want to state that this isn't a VoG complaint post. Bungie, you guys killed it in my opinion. You managed to take a completely solved and known quantity in VoG and alter it in creative and modern ways that led to quite a nice challenge. Kudos, and I cannot wait to see what you guys can do with favorites like Kings Fall or Wrath now.

The problem I'm talking about is the buff/mechanics display. Destiny is moving more and more towards an MMO style of gameplay, with numerous abilities, mods, and weapons that apply debuffs or buff the player. If they continue on this road towards an MMO style (please do), it will become excruciatingly obvious that displaying a maximum of 4 mechanics and buffs, and not displaying what debuffs are affecting the target you are shooting at all, is just not going to cut it.

A lot of people probably realized this during VoG. Between Sheltered by the Void, Well of Radiance, Weapons of Light/Blessing of Sky, Power of Rasputin, Pulsewave and countless others, some potentially crucial information is always going to get bumped off the screen entirely. Dmg stated on twitter that it should always prioritize mechanic timers like Imminent Detain etc but there were reports that this might not always be the case. Regardless, when you start to add up all the information that we need right now, its much more than 4, and this will get worse as we get more and more into the MMO style. Can you imagine how bad this problem would be if Bungie eventually does fully embrace the MMO style and balances the endgame PvE around managing stacking buffs/debuffs?

It doesn't even have to be turned on by default, but it would be VERY awesome to see a buff/debuff overlay added to the game in the future. That way you could use the current spot on the screen for ONLY mechanics related information and endgame PvE players can still have all the information at their fingertips.

REMINDER: Crucible lacks maps AS WELL AS modes

    Posted: 24 May 2021 09:40 AM PDT

I hope when the day comes that Bungie acknowledges the existence of PvP, they don't just give us a handful of new maps and call it "a renewed focus."

PvP not only lacks maps, it also lacks modes/playlists. There was nothing more terrifying and exhilarating than playing Infection in Halo and being the last human alive. Or running the bomb in Grifball and seeing the whole team run towards you. Or playing Team Snipers and hearing random shots graze your head. Or playing CTF and juggling the flag hoping that you can make it back to your spawn. Not to mention the various custom games like Jenga, Halo, and VIP.

Destiny lacks unique and interesting and most importantly; fun modes. And it's kind of a shame considering how in-depth and expansive this universe is. Destiny has a way more in-depth universe than Halo, which would allow for some pretty fun modes, yet TO THIS DAY Halo PvP still beats Destiny PvP in terms of fun factor. And please don't tell me to go play Halo (which I already do), because that's not a solution. I don't bring this up to shit talk Destiny and Bungie, I bring it up as a comparison of Bungie's past work vs their current work.

Edit: I agree, Gambit also needs attention. I was just making this post in response to the post about no Crucible maps for 600 days. While that's a problem, even if we got new maps I probably still wouldn't enjoy PvP because we would still be playing the same boring modes.

Farming Templar checkpoint yields 5 Spoils of Conquest every ~2min 55sec. Or ~100 Spoils every hour. This is an optimal farm for anyone who wants / needs Spoils.

    Posted: 24 May 2021 01:51 PM PDT

For reference, a regular clear of VoG (unless you're speed running) is roughly 45-60 min, depending on group. You can farm about 25 Spoils a clear. So farming Templar yields about 4x as many Spoils in the same amount of time.

This is an invaluable farm for anyone who wants / needs Anarchy or wants Spoils to farm VoG weapons from the Atheon chest.

Loadouts to ensure that from kill to kill is under 3 min: use Slug shotties, Anarchy w breach&clear, one Divinity, one Well, and use Chaos Reaches and Thundercrashes. Templar will die before he can even attempt to make the second teleport. DPS him from the little ledge just right of spawn. Make sure the Well Warlock is using Luna boots + Divinity.

Obviously relic holder blocks first teleport.

Have someone save CP on an alt, everyone joins on them, CP player loads in then changes character during the fly in screen to another character. Clear the encounter. Switch back to the CP alt - rinse and repeat.

Best of luck and happy farming!

VoG is great. But the emblem for 10 sherpas was fucking genius.

    Posted: 24 May 2021 05:53 PM PDT

seriously, GGs bungie. It's really nice to see lots of people trying to bring new players through their first run, as opposed to most new raids where LFGs are filled with people who don't know the raid and can't get people to teach them.

Please keep doing this in the future. The only improvements I can think of is making it visible in the game instead of through the rewards site only, and to maybe make it so that you have to do the full raid and not boss CP.

    Posted: 24 May 2021 01:11 AM PDT

Wormhaven and Pacifica is in the map rotation while Titan was consumed by darkness, according to the lore so why not just put that 10 or so maps back in the map rotation and make Crucible feel a little bit more... alive?

    DMG's Tweet about Clan Upgrades

    Posted: 24 May 2021 02:55 PM PDT

    For reference: https://twitter.com/A_dmg04/status/1396884401221292034?s=20

"What improvements would you like to see? We're always collecting feedback, but are more than happy to pass along more notes from players as we see them."

While I would love to see updates to clans, as they desperately need them, I would really love to see what is already in the game working properly first! The clan list on PC has been broken since the launch of Shadowkeep. That's 19 months of the most basic social feature in a game not working. It's even worse coming from a company that is constantly going on about community, friends, "the real endgame is the friends you made along the way", etc.

For those of you that do not know, the way the clan list on PC currently operates is if a player is online on STEAM their card in the clan list is a light grey color, and if they are offline on steam their card is a dark grey color. All the normal interactions and visual aids if a player is online in the actual game do not exist or work. Currently the only way around this is to add each member of your clan to your personal STEAM friends list. This is not an acceptable solution, there are countless other games that get this right.

There have been lots of posts about this here over the last 19 months, but only one got any attention from Bungie, which was about a year ago from Cozmo. The jist of his response was the team is aware and working on it. Then silence ever since!

If only there was a system that was already in place where every player in Destiny already had an account no matter what platform they played on, kinda like a Bungie.net account or something like that!

It's been so long with this broken, can we at least get an update or something to say this is still even remotely a priority at least? It's honestly sad at this point...

The loot for the last two season has been really really good

    Posted: 24 May 2021 02:37 PM PDT

In Season of the Chosen and Season of the Splicer, we have had a GREAT improvement in loot, something that we've been lacking for a while. With this season's addition of Seasonal, VoG, Iron banner, Trials, Nightfall, and core activity loot, we have soooo much more stuff to chase. This is also in addition to the great loot added last season including new Seasonal, Trials, Nightfall, and core activity loot. Plus, all of these additions have included new perks which are unique, but most importantly they are sought after by players so that we don't keep the same weapons forever. While there are criticisms of the new loot (such as drop rates and wide perk pools in some cases) I think that the last two seasons have been a HUGE step in the right direction in this regard.

Prophecy Solo Flawless as easy as it will probably ever be this season.

    Posted: 24 May 2021 07:56 PM PDT

I did one of these for the nightmare hunts time trials last season because the sword guard mod was the absolute best for tearing through those ultra quick.

The flavor of the season this time is grenade launchers, I just ran through prophecy solo running breach and clear with grenade launchers and it was quite something.

Firstly the Phalanx Echo can be 1 phased, (it always could with the right strat, but it's easier this time), I used Anarchy - Chaos reach - Slug shotgun and it tore through him like nobodies business. It would probably be safer overall to use a well here. If you're comfortable running double slugs it's a very easy 1 phase. In the past, Well + sword has been my go to, with the ammo nerf to guilotine and the damage nerf to lament I don't know if they would still be the best. The slugs did great for me.

The Desert is the same, Grenade launchers were never a great choice here.

The Cube was always the easiest of the 3 main encounters, Seasonal mods don't do a whole lot here, put on Devour lock/Invis hunter/bottom tree solar titan and just take your time and focus on staying alive. Xenophage is king here for sniping hobs and downing knights.

The Roads encounter is still the same, snipers for distance.

Here's the important part, Kell Echo is now a very comfy 2 phase with Anarchy. I was off my game because I stopped doing Prophecy solo for a long time since I hit pinnacle cap last season. I was very suprised to see that Breach and Clear anarchy is as Murderous as it is. I ran Ikelos SMG primary for cells/psion encounters with Ignition Code/Anarchy. I whiffed numerous shots and got Teleported several times and still got a 2 phase with time to spare.

I imagine Witherhoard/Auto rockets are murderous as well with Breach and Clear. Both of these methods are a lot safer than trying to sword in my experience. Swords have never went well with Kell echo for me.

If haven't done Solo flawless Prophecy yet and want to get that emblem, get breach and clear and go kick some ass. Good luck Guardians.

Pretty sure I’m statistically the worst active PVPer in all of Destiny 2, so I’ve got that going for me

    Posted: 24 May 2021 10:49 AM PDT

It took me right around 150 Iron Banner matches this past week to finish all the pinnacle bounties across all three characters. I did not finish the weapon quest on any character yet, although I am one LMG kill from completion on one character. Iron Banner K/D ratio sitting at .57. Super efficiency at .71—just to be clear, that means most times I pop a super, no one gets killed. Using the new load in screen that shows teammate stats, I only saw 2 players with lower K/D ratios than me on my team all week, and one of them had 0.0 because it was their first match. If you see me, farm me, but save the teabag for someone deserving of the effort.

Bungie, no salt intended but I really miss the Tribute Hall and Menagerie.

    Posted: 24 May 2021 03:37 PM PDT

As a huge fan of the game through all its ups and downs I miss everything, but I find myself wishing for these two the most. I do understand they had to reduce the size of the game to optimize some things, fair enough in a constantly growing game.

Please bring these back in some way. I'm sure a lot people would complain but I'd be fine with a reskinned Menagerie seasonal event. It's just needs to be as good and not disappear (for a long while at least).

Please make Vex Mythoclast hold stacks like Symmetry. Don't make this another Tarrabah situation.

    Posted: 24 May 2021 09:28 PM PDT

This is one of the most iconic weapons in Destiny history. You have made it a hell of a lot of fun with a great FR/LFR mechanic that changes how it feels (and will LIKELY be exceptional once we get FR Champ mods inevitably).

But my god, the stowing of the weapon killing Overcharge is such a terrible decision. If this is a PvP issue, then just limit the stacks to 1 in PvP modes or something.

Otherwise, this weapon will be pretty much limited to playlist content and gimmicky stuff like Tarrabah was.

    It deserves better.

Could we possibly get a Strike variation of the mission "Sabotaging Salvation"?

    Posted: 24 May 2021 09:02 AM PDT

For those who don't know or may have forgotten, its the mission that is part of the quest "Reclaiming Europa" from Variks that you get after the Beyond Light campaign.

This mission involves destroying some Fallen Brigs and also fighting a gigantic Brig as a final boss. I personally think it was a fun mission, it'd be interesting if it turned into a Strike imo.

Vault of Glass - Easy non sparrow method to collect first hidden chest on all three characters

    Posted: 24 May 2021 07:50 PM PDT

    Hunter: https://gamerdvr.com/gamer/dyklone/video/135323123

    Warlock: https://gamerdvr.com/gamer/dyklone/video/135323127

    Titan: https://gamerdvr.com/gamer/dyklone/video/135323122

Sparrow glitch - Back up straight into the corner so the sparrow is parallel to the wall. Look right and up. Then press left dodge and dismount in quick succession.

Titan Sword Skating at 1:05 - Hold jump for a bit, cancel jump, wait a bit, sword swipe, repeat. Most people don't realize they need to do the jump cancel and instead just swing at the top of their jump causing them to lose their jump and not skating properly

Note 1: I didn't find the glitch but I found it hard piecing together proper runs on each character as their seems to be different routes and methods. I found this route the easiest as it's the same for each character, doesn't require any sparrow flying and most of the jumps are pretty safe once you get some experience doing them.

Note 2: You will only get mods, raid spoils and items that you've already obtained on that character.

Let me know if there are any clarifications needed.

Some tips I've learned through 9 clears of VoG since launch.

    Posted: 24 May 2021 04:15 AM PDT

    EDITS AT THE BOTTOM

I am one of those people who obsesses over raid mechanics, strategies, being efficient, min/maxing mods and builds, etc. I love the theorycrafting part of Destiny almost more than anything else.

So of course with a "new" (to me, I did not play D1) raid, my brain went into overdrive trying to figure out ways to make the raid easier and more straightforward for teaching players new to it, since I do a lot of this, and how to make it as efficient and easy for everyone as I can.

I'm just going to TLDR the big points (which most players probably already know by now, but I figured it was still worth sharing) from each encounter.

I'm not going to get into loadouts much as outside of being somewhat subjective, I think everyone knows what the meta is for VoG.

    Oracles

I saw a lot of people using Oracle maps with numbers and trying to call out which ones to shoot and all this, this is completely unnecessary.

IMO this is the easiest way to do Oracles:

    • Make sure everyone is aware of where all the Oracles are
    • Assign AREAS to players, not specific Oracles: ie: (front and back are in reference to the banner) front left or right, back left or right
    • Players will patrol these areas to keep adds down and they will usually be within eyeshot of at least 1 but often 2 or 3 Oracles
    • Make callouts for the Oracles in the order you HEAR them: ie: if you see the Oracle in front of you on the 2nd chime, say "2", then when it's time to shoot Oracles, you will shoot second after you hear someone in vc say "1".

TLDR: call out Oracle numbers in the order you see and hear them. 1st chime is 1, 2nd chime is 2, etc. If all players are patrolling their areas right you will not miss any.

    Templar

The first part of the Templar encounter is more or less an easier version of Oracles, so same thing applies. The DPS strat everyone is using now and is super effective, very similar to Taniks, have the relic bearer pop the shield mid, well on the corner ledge in front of the templar and DPS away in a well while the relic bearer blocks teleports. Not a whole lot to say otherwise. :)

    Gatekeeper and Atheon

    Gatekeeper

The rotation on this took a little bit for us to get down smoothly, there are a few important things to know:

Speed for the relic bearer is important and kind of key to success for the whole thing, the rest of the encounter is very simple.

When you exit one side to drop off the relic and go to another side, you have a very short amount of time (assuming you are not way behind) before the gatekeeper will spawn and lock the portal, which can cause bad things to happen. You can do a few small things to facilitate success:

    • If you are the second relic bearer, be waiting on the plate for the other portal, ie: if the first Praetorian was in left, be waiting on the plate at right. The player handing off the shield to you should stop right in front of your portal and drop the shield (change weapons). This should save time and help you get in there quickly.

    • If you are handing the shield off don't go all the way around, jump across the little "dps island" to the other portal, it's so much faster and can make the difference between beating the Gatekeeper spawn and not.

    • This is one of the two gear recommendations I'm going to make: use Witherhoard. It is excellent for holding the plates and keeping all the adds down, and it is amazingly clutch for those going into Mars and Venus as you can just lay Witherhoard everywhere and make Warmind cells with any Seraph or Ikelos weapon. I can't stress how good this is, if you're having a tough time, try this.

    Atheon

This encounter is not as hard as a lot of players are making it, it can be broken down into 2 distinct phases which are basically Oracles and DPS, but some small changes in callouts, what the Stay and Away teams do and how and where you do DPS can make a monumental difference in how easy this is for you and your fireteam.

    About Oracle and Mars/Venus Orientation

One thing that confuses a lot of players (and I've seen a lot of maps that just add to the confusion) is the orientation of the Oracles in the main room and in the Venus and Mars rooms.

Let me simplify this! The Venus and Mars rooms are simply smaller versions of the large room, for all intents and purposes they are essentially identical, just a good bit smaller. The only difference is when you spawn on Mars and Venus you spawn at the opposite end of the room from where we spend all of our time in the main room. Essentially, you are spawning where the chest is at the end of the encounter.

Because of this, a lot of fireteams get confused with the orientation of the Oracles between the Stay and Away teams. But there is a way to overcome this I will cover below. Just keep in mind, the rooms are actually laid out the same, only smaller.

    Oracles

    Callouts

Oh boy. I have heard so many different confusing callouts for Oracles and that's just so unnecessary. Here's a few tips you can apply to calling out Oracles that will simplify comms and make your life easier.

    • Use relative locations. Stick with Left, Mid, Right using near and far. Everyone understands this, numbers just honestly end up confusing people more. And with the Away team tip below, this makes even more sense. Lots of players are doing this, lots are not. Trust me this is better.

    • You do not need to call out the third Oracle. It is unnecessary and one more thing for the Away team to remember. If you call out the first two, the third one is whatever is left. For example, if the callouts are "Near Left, Far Mid, Near Right" if you just call out "Near Left, Far Mid" the only one left is Near Right which they will just shoot last. But! You can simplify them even more.

    • Depending on the callouts, you may be able to leave the Near and Far information out which makes comms even quicker and simpler. For example, if the Callouts are Near Mid, Far Left, Near right. You can just say "Mid, Left, Right". In this case whether it's near or far does not matter. If you get something like Near Mid, Far Mid, Near Right, you can just call it out like "Near Mid, Far Mid, Right" or leave Right out altogether. Again, the idea is to simplify comms and make it easier for everyone to remember what the callouts are. This has worked very well for me in all of my clears, even with first timers.

A couple of tips for the Away and Stay teams.

    • Away Team*

    • As soon as you spawn call out where you are (Mars or Vens, or Left or Right, whatever your team prefers) then literally run straight across the room to the far side, across the mini "dps island" all the way to the top of the stairs, then turn around and cleanse, do not stop to cleanse before then it's not necessary if you ran straight away. Doing this gives you the same exact perspective of the room you are already familiar with because you now have the same view and almost complete cover from all the adds as well as all the Oracles look identical for both Stay and Away teams, no more confusion there!

    Stay Team

    • Once the Away team calls out where they are, the 2 players not doing callouts should collapse to that side and make sure the plate is captured so the portal stays open and be ready to have (if possible) bubble, well and Atheon pre-Anarchy'd as soon as they start shooting the last Oracles.

    DPS

DPS should be done behind the portal the Away team comes out of on the stairs, or at the top of the stairs either is fine. Bubble should be to the right or left of the portal, either is also fine. This has a number of advantages:

    • The Away team will literally walk out of the portal and BAM there's the whole team, already DPS'ing with well and bubble and no jumping down to dps island then getting situated, etc. When you only have 30 sec of DPS every second matters
    • You're not all cooped up on the small island getting pounded by Atheon with no cover
    • The detained person won't spaz out and fall off or even worse, get everyone trapped
    • Fireteam members with mobile supers will have an easier time getting back to the well for additional dps/supers etc
    • There are structures on either side of the stairs that can provide cover from adds and Atheon

Supplicants really aren't a problem, there's only a few that come over there and in a well you have nothing to worry about.

As far as DPS itself goes, I am no streamer, I am not Ehroar, lol. However I will say that I learned something very quickly: VoG is about abilities and supers not weapons. The buff you get during DPS, Times Vengeance, gives you a HUGE boost to super and ability damage. So our best runs have all been with lots of high damage supers Thundercrash w/ Cuirass, top tree Nova Bomb, Chaos Reach, Gold Gun, Blade Barrage, etc. If the Stay team has things ready to go, those three players can probably get off double supers due to the increased regen. Weapon wise, all I can say is Anarchy. It just lets you do DPS and spam abilities and supers at the same time.

I hope these help some of you with faster, cleaner clears or if you haven't run it yet, I hope it helps with your first clear. I'm sure a lot of this is redundant to many players, but I just try and share anything helpful when I can to people who may be able to use it.

    Additional Comments and Tips!

A ton of great suggestions in the comments! A few things I forgot to mention that I was reminded of:

    • Breach and Clear! If you are using Anarchy or Witherhoard, use Breach and Clear for this whole raid, it is worth every point of the 9 energy it costs (thank you for reminding me /u/themanofspiel !)

    • Blinding/Freezing the praetorian minotaurs in a pinch will stall them for quite a while, a bubble will keep them in there punching the titan as well

      • During the add clear phase of Atheon if you leave one flying Harpy on each side they won't respawn, this can be pretty helpful! Thanks for reminding me /u/perfectlyfriedbread !

There's been a lot of discussion about Oracle callouts and Team Numbers vs. Team Relative Locations, so let me get nerdy for a paragraph and explain my logic. :)

When you number the Oracle locations, what are you actually doing is you are looking at the Oracles and saying to your team "Okay, the one in the far back is 1, then clockwise from there. So far right is 2, close right is 3, etc." What you are doing is actually taking relative locations and converting them to numbers which the Away team then takes numbers and converts them to relative locations like "okay it's 3, which one is 3, three is the close right one."

So my logic is to cut out the brainwork as much as possible and simplify it. Instead of converting relative locations to numbers, then numbers back to relative locations, why not just use relative locations?

That's basically why I switched to that and got away from numbers. FWIW, I have done numbers and we actually did numbers on Day1 and it was fine. I just find relative locations to be far simpler for most players. But ultimately, you should do what works for you and your fireteam!

VOG coming back made me realize something. If the vex can teleport anywhere, why do they make doors for their most important areas to be easily open to the public?

    Posted: 24 May 2021 09:50 PM PDT

Like for some time traveling, brilliant, calculator data robots, you'd think they could plug in some algebraic equations to realize that they can just close off all their entrances with walls to hide them. But no, they create convenient plates and doors that just let you in with 0 catch. Whoever the vex hired as engineers for their vaults and important data locations need to be fired. Now Quria on the other hand has some promise. Quria actually hides a vex network behind a different reality and doesn't make a door. Granted, we had to literally rip open a door with the splicer gauntlet but still.

Literally every other vex I can remember has made an obvious door to their important POIs. Panoptes allowed a big ass door to the infinite forest to just exist, The sanctified mind and all those guys in the black garden just made big portals to their planet without turning off the power switch on the way out, Argos was just like, "Yeah I'm just chill in the bottom of an enemy ship and give them the keys to break my immunity shield to my area." and more!

All cutscenes should be uncapped from now on

Bungie, after hearing my entire fireteam during day one basically orgasm at the sight of a 100+ FPS intro cutscene I can tell you that this is the way forward.

Colorblind filters don't work on oracles

    Posted: 24 May 2021 10:30 AM PDT

Did the raid on day 1, all went smoothly until atheon. I kept getting teleported and my teammates would call the oracles out, but since i have red-green color blindness, i could not at all see where the oracles were, and would end up shooting the wrong one.

The oracles while i was in the boss room was fine, because the background was blue and the oracles were red, but whenever i got teleported to venus (which was literally always) i would be an actual detriment to my team. The color blindness settings don't seem to affect it much, and there isn't a setting for color blindness intensity. (I play on console if that matters)

Is there any way the oracles would change color depending on the colour blindness setting? Im sure that if the oracles in mars/ venus were blue or bright white in colour, nobody would feel like the raid has lost its roots or its core feeling. So if bungie can fix or implement even a tiny change, it would be much appreciated.

    sincerely, Your friendly neighborhood warlock
