I think it needs to be said: The people who worked on decorating the tower for FotL this year did a great job!

    Posted: 30 Oct 2019 12:27 PM PDT

Huge improvement from last year! The people responsible need a raise because everything is better from 2018. If anyone on the team can see this it's awesome and we appreciate it!

    • The trees (especially the ones you can climb) are more fleshed out and plentiful

    • Love the caution tape and boarded up areas which add a great deal of atmosphere

    • More intricate pumpkin carvings

    • The spider webbing that was added

    • The bed sheet ghosts are a huge plus

I could honestly go on and on (I mean they put a pumpkin in the ac duct to the LB area) but a couple things I noticed that I said "Damn" to (because they didn't have to do it)...

The black cat on the top of the tree

The ghosts where Benedic used to be

And my favorite which hasn't been talked about, the Ramen carved pumpkin sitting on the Ramen bar all lit up. Nice touch!

Anyone else impressed? Or is it just me?

Hey Bungie just a heads-up, $15 for an ornament isn't considered a MICRO transaction

    Posted: 30 Oct 2019 04:29 PM PDT

First there was a base game. Then came DLC and expensions. Then came Eververse. Then came season passes. Now we have to pay for DLC/Expensions WITH additional season passes and 95% of vanity items locked behind Eververse. The Bright Dust economy is absurd and the Silver prices are absolutely insulting. Some ornaments cost more than a freaking season pass. These aren't micro transactions. Four ornaments can buy me a complete new game. It's absolutely disgusting you try to portray Eververse as micro transactions vendor.

Can we have a Lone Wolf title to appreciate the guardians who have no friends and solo everything

    Posted: 30 Oct 2019 04:19 PM PDT

I understand that it's not a good thing to have no friends, but I've spent the past 3 years soloing every non matchmade activity whether or not it takes 5 hours and I think there should be some kind of way to appreciate the guardians who spend 10x longer than necessary to get anything done because they have no fireteam.

and yes, I know there's LFG apps and servers but that can't stop my tier 10 social anxiety.

Owning the Season Pass should give you a %50 discount on all seasonal Eververse content to make the current economy fair.

    Posted: 30 Oct 2019 05:49 AM PDT

If we paid for the season we should at least get some kind of discount on the actual seasonal content. Eververse does not make up the costs of new content, the season passes do. Or at least thats how it should be.

Everything they have said to justify the price increasing has been a massive lie, they could at least bring the Prismatic Matrix back for Season Pass holders, but they wont. They even spun its removal as "Oh if we remove it, it will actually be fairer to you!", which was immediately called out but they refused to respond to issue and brushed that under the rug, now they are doing the same thing to the economy itself. Brushing it under the rug.

And before people try to defend the current prices, please note that even WITH a 50% discount, we would still possibly be paying around 2.4k per emote.

*This blew up really fast, hot damn. Hopefully this doesn't get thrown into the megathread gravesite

Just saw a guy named "Phallus, 3rd Leg of Calus"

    Posted: 30 Oct 2019 03:27 PM PDT

Really sucks that eververse and the season pass both have nice armour ornament sets while the dungeon has nothing.

    Posted: 30 Oct 2019 12:22 PM PDT

Played through the Dungeon last night and while it was a lot of fun I cannot really see myself playing it again. That is the point of the loot in a looter. It is there to encourage you to replay content.

Eververse has a really nice ornament set and the season pass has another. Meanwhile the Dungeon has the same armour as the moon. My boss drop was a helmet I already had drop 10 times(with an affinity I won't really ever use).

As someone who keeps up with all the paid content it is such a buzz kill to see all of this cool stuff in the game that is not directly attached to cool content like the dungeon. Raids are pretty inaccessible for most people so the Dungeon becomes the marquee piece of content. Missed opportunity.

There should still be new seasonal engrams, eververse items should STILL dismantle for bright dust and tess’ bright dust bounties should still be here too.

    Posted: 30 Oct 2019 06:13 AM PDT

Kinda stupid how theres no new engram to get this seasons items only way is to purchase with silver or with bright dust that is if you have literally millions of it, seeing as how all 3 spooky ornaments this event and last years ornaments will cost 36000 bright dust and thats not even including the ship/sparrow/ghosts/emotes/projections(also last years items are silver only for the whole event). How come when tess became more bs you guys at bungie felt the need to get rid of her bright dust bounties or seasonal engrams and dismantling tess items for bright dust?? Like seriously who had the bright idea of having BEST OF YEAR 1 & 2 engrams and only those for an entire season while also making them essentially completely worthless if you're a veteran player and already have everything, whats the point? the items are just gonna give 1-3 shards and some glimmer when you dismantle not even gonna drop bright dust WHICH IT SHOULD.

The Izanagi's quest is bugged yet AGAIN and, with Bungie's track record, it looks like new players and veteran players alike , won't be able to unlock it for the entirety of the Season of the Undying.

    Posted: 30 Oct 2019 06:18 AM PDT

    EDIT:

    dmg04 replied:

Team is digging on this right now. Fully understand the frustrations here, as players are looking for a top DPS weapon to use in difficult content.

Once we have more info on the underlying bug, the proposed fix, and a timeline, we'll let you know.

    -------------------------

I'm not mad, I'm just incredibly disappointed.

For those unaware, previously the quest for the Izanagi's burden was bugged for those who had yet to obtain the key mold from Ada-1 prior to Shadowkeep. With the update from 29/10/19, that bug was fixed but now players are reporting new bugs: (1) using a key obtained after completing a forge at max temper does not grant progress to the Mysterious Box quest; (2) consuming the Obsidian Crystal after turning in a rare bounty during that specific step of the overall quest does not grant progress; (3) the key mold seemingly cannot be claimed by other characters when it has already been claimed by one character. As such, the quest that was previously bugged with one point of failure is now bugged with multiple points of failure.

The following is a rant. The initial problem with the Izanagi's quest was known at day 1 and it took Bungie 29 days to fix that problem. With the bug now having multiple problems, I expect this to not be fix until at least 29 days from yesterday, when they found out about the bug. That is a predicted 58 days that will pass before the Izanagi's quest will be fixed and that is assuming that no new bugs will come in the next fix. 58 days! That's almost the entirety of the Season of the Undying. Is a timeline such as this normal, or even acceptable, to Bungie and the Destiny community? I have poured my heart and soul into this game, I have ~300 hours logged in since Shadowkeep (the perks of being single and being able to seduce all your friends to also become obsessed with Destiny) and have spent $150+ on this game since I genuinely want to support Bungie. I love what they have added to this game since Shadowkeep and I want them to continue. But lingering bugs and problems in this game that take ages to be fixed has always been and looks like will continue to be the norm when it comes to Destiny and Bungie. As such this rant, was less about the problem's with Izanagi but more about the slow pace that Bungie is taking to fix problems that has persisted in this game, before and during Shadowkeep. I love what Bungie has done with this game and I hope that they continue to improve (keep that shit up!) but the problems with the Izanagi's quest just shows the underlying problems with Bungie and Destiny that many have just swept under the rug.

I hope my prediction is wrong and that these new problems are fixed much earlier than I expect but I'm keeping my expectations low. Meanwhile, I'll go enjoy the other new stuff while crying on the inside as I still do not have my Izanagi's.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk. I'll see you all next time.

Without Ephemeral Engrams, I have no reason to keep playing FotL 2019 and it's only Day 2.

    Posted: 30 Oct 2019 03:24 PM PDT

EDIT: Yeesh, this isn't a goodbye post. It's the same community feedback that this game has built itself on for the last 5 years. I'm not quitting the game lol.

After only 7-8 hours across 2 days, I realized I've already done everything there is to do just by running the Event bounties and the weekly Crucible/Gambit/Flashpoint. Hell, I haven't even done a strike, Vex Offensive, or most of the weekly Moon stuff yet.

Last year, I remember hungrily eyeing that Horror Story rifle while I ground out bounties and bought masks, especially since it was a higher power level than much of my gear even after religiously getting all of the Powerful Gear I could between Forsaken and the event. This year I had enough for all of the masks in the first 4 hours, and had accumulated plenty of candy for the Rifle (which dropped not at the 960 cap which would have been thrilling, but the same 950 level I've been getting trash at for a couple weeks.

But the real bummer is the lack of Eververse rewards. I won't get into the overall economy and pricing, that has been done to death already elsewhere. My issue as it relates to the event is that last year, just playing the game during the event would give you xp which would drop a Bright Engram AND an Event Engram every level. Sure, your RNG might suck and you might not get the event loot you wanted, but it was EXCITING to have that possibility every time you filled that xp bar. It kept me playing until the end of the event, where I actually did spend silver on the last few things I wanted but didn't get, AND felt way better about doing so because hey at least I tried first.

Now? The only things I can grind for are the completely underwhelming Mystery Bags and rolls of an Assault Rifle I'm probably not going to use.

Last year after the Festival, I put my Destiny career on hold to play things like RDR2 before the end of the year, but the whole time I was thinking fondly of my time with Destiny and was excited to return someday.

This year, I'm stepping away really soured on the whole thing. Destiny is at its best when you have the possibility of getting cool stuff by grinding the same content over and over. Without the stuff, it's just a grind.

Everyone's moaning about the Bright Dust while ignoring what could really help solve the problem

    Posted: 30 Oct 2019 07:25 AM PDT

Put Silver in the Season Pass. Getting Bright dust is worthless in comparison. Put about 1,000 Silver across the course of the Season Pass that players can collect. They're paying $10 for the Pass, so if they complete it, they get that money 'back' in Silver that they can use to spend on something they like in the store. This has two advantages:

    1. You don't have to let the Season Pass be purchasable through Silver, just real money. This means they'll have to spend the Silver on in-game items, not just the next batch of content. And let's be real, even if you did allow Silver purchases toward the next season, think of how much money Fortnite is making even though they give you more than enough V-Bucks in a Battle Pass to purchase the next one. People will buy things with the Silver they earn, which means they'll have to spend more money to get the next Season Pass anyway.

    2. Studies show that spending Silver will lead players to buy more Silver. I'm sure they have the charts that show this is the case as well. So if you give 1,000 Silver in the Season Pass, players will find an item they like and purchase it. This makes them that much more likely to put more money into the game if they see something else they like.

Bright Dust is nice and all, and I understand player frustration surrounding it, but the real solution is to give players a path to Silver through the Season Pass. That way, we can outright purchase items we want without having to hope they appear on the Bright Dust store. This also allows Bungie to keep Bright Dust as their scarce currency from bounties, while not restricting players in what they can get. You get the Season Pass, you're going to get $10 worth of Silver with it that you'll have to earn.

Map of 2nd encounter in the dungeon.

I know a map isn't really necessary, but I wanted to make one anyway, sorry.

    LORE LOCATIONS:
    - In the roof of the large cave between knight spawns 1 & 3.
    - In the small cave to the right of spawn, by the red door.

There is a hidden chest at the end of the tunnel that starts in the cave between knight spawns 2 & 4, entrance is hidden behind rocks (jump over).

I'll be doing a map for the 4th encounter as well, when I get the chance.

The enemies that are marked in the last wave of Altar of Sorrows are marked for a good reason, PLEASE go shoot them.

    Posted: 30 Oct 2019 11:11 AM PDT

I don't know how this is so difficult to understand, but after another hour of joining a lobby, grinding the event up to the boss, only to find out that apparently the enemies you need to kill are only marked for you in this group, it apparently needs to be said. Things are easy enough up to this point, but when there are 6 people participating and every time I get to the boss I only see me and 1 other person at most shooting the marked targets, it becomes abundantly clear that this group is a waste of time.

You do not have a lot of time to kill the boss, even with killing every add that spawns, if you do not kill the nightmares before they are sacrificed. They remove massive chunks of time. If you run off and kill adds and ignore these, you will still lose, wasting everyone's time. As much fun as it is to run around with riskrunner and kill adds and read reddit threads that convince you you're helping, you need to still actually complete the mechanics of the event to receive loot.

    A breakdown of Xenophage.

    Posted: 30 Oct 2019 08:11 AM PDT

So, after a few hours of day one puzzle-solving, dungeon-crawling, and damage-testing, I come to you with the spookiest revelation of this Halloween season:

    Xenophage is disgustingly bad.

And I don't mean run-of-the-mill, Leviathan's Breath bad. Leviathan's Breath has a niche where it's effective (Nightfalls), and it can be mildly effective outside of that niche (DPS is nothing to write home about but it's okay, decent ad clear, one shot bodyshot in PvP which is on par with other easier heavies).

No, Xenophage is really, really bad. Let's start by looking at some tribute hall numbers. By my calculations, I got approximately 17k DPS with Xenophage. Compare this to a spike grenades aggressive frame grenade launcher which deals 48k DPS. That's less than half. Now, on the other end of the spectrum, let's compare it to a rapid fire machine gun - about 9k DPS. Here's the thing though, a rapid fire machine gun has a job - ad clear. Its massive mag size, typically over five times as large as Xenophage's, allows it to be great for ad clear or ripping people apart in PvP.

Speaking of PvP, you might be thinking that of course it's not going to be good in PvE, because it's so obviously intended to be a PvP weapon - it's pretty much a culmination of the meme that machine guns are just better scout rifles. It has a low rate of fire and super long range.

Unfortunately, it's not good in PvP either. First of all, a heavy brick gives you a grand total of three bullets for this "beast". It requires two of those three bullets to get a kill. So, if you're looking for one and a half kills, you can get those with this gun assuming you have perfect aim.

But you may be asking me, "what about crits? shouldn't that make everything better?". Well, you would be right... except it doesn't do crits. Yeah. No crits at all. No matter where you hit something, it's always gonna do the same amount of damage.

At first I compared this to Leviathan's Breath indirectly. Let's take a closer look. Despite the year-long draw time, it actually manages to pull off higher DPS than Xenophage. Not an impressive amount, but clearly more. It also is capable of ad clear with its large explosion, and it can one-shot with a body shot in PvP (and you get 4 ammo if I'm remembering correctly)

For a weapon with an insect inside it, you'd probably be better off just throwing the insect at somebody. Mosquitoes kill more people per year than this gun could dream of. Not a great legacy for Omar Agah.

TL;DR: If you are afraid of insects, you're probably at a higher risk of dying from a fear-induced heart attack than you are at risk from dying to this gun. I really hope that the lack of crits will turn out to be a bug-friend for Omar.

Dear Xenophage what do you wanna be a Lmg? A Sniper? A Grenade Launcher? Because you do none of that properly

    Posted: 30 Oct 2019 08:11 AM PDT

First of all let me say you look and sound amazing and if that could kill enemy's in crucible and PvE you would be god tier. But that's not the case. And if Bungie would have said you are gonna be a Lmg/sniper/gl IN A SINGLE GUN I would have deleted all of my god roll legendarys to get you. And now that I got and tested you i just gonna be honest YOU ARE TRASH... here's why:

If you wanna be an Lmg

    • In crucible you only get 3 shots and you need 2 to drop a guardian your Legendary brother Hammerhead gets 29 and needs 5 to kill a guardian (with rampage 4 and less) let's say he gets 3-4 kills per brick in general

    • In Pve you hold up to 36 rounds which is not bad for the damage you do per shot BUT you are not able to hit crits and don't have a damage increasing perk your legendary cousin 21% delirium holds way more ammo in total (if you count 1 shot for like 10 regular shots) and has a damage perk that holds basically forever

If you wanna be a sniper

    • In crucible since you are not able to crit you can't 1hit headshot guardians and you need 2 bodys to kill a 140rpm therefore faster firing legendary special ammo snipe can 1st. 1shot headshot at any ranges and 2nd also only needs 2 bodyshots to kill

-In PvE did I mention that you can't hit crits??? And anyone that has a brain would pick Izanagi because a single honed edge times 4 shot does more damage than half of your clip ah and it also takes special ammo not heavy and sadly you only hit 37.75% of a 140rpm sniper crit damage

If you wanna be a Gl

    • in crucible you get 3 rounds and you can't 1hko anyone without WoL a 120rpm heavy Gl let's take Play of the game can do that while getting 4 shots and only needs a proximity detonation to kill not a direct hit. And let's not forget that annoying little thing called Mountaintop which kills in 1 hit to the body and just takes special?

-In PvE you have a nice stunn and aoe effect but won't do to much damage on direct hit and you have to compare yourself to the kings of Dps 150rpm Gl's with spike grenades or just Anarchy which allows you to do DoT while dps with another gun and if we wanna stay in your Rpm Wendigo can wipe an entire group of ads with a single shot of explosive light and also blinds majors and ultras and is also able to do massive burst damage.

Maybe your Parents didn't want you to be another bully in Gambit but let me say nothing ever compares to that Queenbreaker guy he aimed for the toe and always got headshots can you believe that? Headshots?! Or being killed by a toaster that shoots flaming burned slices of bread.

So please tell me what do you wanna be? Because otherwise we gonna forget about you like we forgot about the Aoen Cult

Bungie, we need an answer. Is Xenophage bugged?

    Posted: 30 Oct 2019 04:15 PM PDT

Xenophage has depressingly low DPS, doesnt crit and so on.

I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt Bungie and guess that the gun is bugged. Afterall it has explosive rounds but is only popping up with 1 damage number. Not only that but I'm hearing that it did crit when tested at Pax. You also hyped this thing up a lot

Now, I love this gun. Its design, lore, sound and feel are all absolutely phenomenal and I would love for it to be a golden addition to my arsenal. But in it's current state, that wont be the case

So u/dmg04 and Bungie we need to know, right away, is this thing bugged? Please answer our concerns ASAP and get this thing hotfixed ASAP

    Perfect Paradox - Exotic Concept

    Posted: 30 Oct 2019 07:45 PM PDT

Note: I'm sure this has already been suggested before, but I just wanted to give my own thoughts on what the weapon would be like.

Curse of Osiris is the only DLC in Destiny 2's timeline that doesn't have a thematic Raid Exotic weapon and/or quest affiliated with it. Sure, there's Prometheus Lens, but that's obtained through a random drop. There are also the Lost Prophecy weapons, but Perfect Paradox was the only one with a heart-wrenching backstory about Saint-14, and that hasn't been brought forward post-Year 1. It is an iconic weapon closely tied to a very major character in the Destiny universe, and I think it's time to canonically honor one of the greatest heroes the City has ever known. So, here is my interpretation on what the Exotic variant of Perfect Paradox could be.

    ***Weapon Name & Lore**\*

    Eternal Legend

Hands halt on the fraudulent clocks:
a new dawn for all to behold.
    Here lies a perfect paradox,

    Reload Speed - 73
    Aim Assistance - 72

    ***Trivia**\*

    I was going to use the name "Infinite Finality", but that was already used in Half-Life ^_^;

Perfect Paradox's flavor text's syllable scheme is 9888. I wanted Eternal Legend's flavor text to reflect that with 8889.

Eternal Legend is similar to the Arbalest in that it's a Kinetic weapon that excels in breaking elemental shields. Where Arbalest is long-range with Disruption Break, Eternal Legend is close-range with Shield Disorient. It is also functionally thematic with the Helm of Saint-14's perk, A Starless Night, which blinds enemies that enter the Ward of Dawn.

The perk A New Dawn, which is similar to Wavesplitter's "Supercharged Battery" perk, is supposed to represent Saint-14's theme of being a paladin or a holy knight, and his strength with the Light.

"Cast No Shadows" is part of a quote from the Titan mark, Order of the Lost Saint.

I was considering adding One-Two Punch before I decided on A New Dawn, but combining that with basically Shield Disorient would've been too...Legendary-ish? That combo sounds like it could be really cool, but I'll wait for Bungie to put that on a shotgun Ritual Weapon.

If ritual weapons aren’t going to have unique perks, it would be cool if we could get some ritual weapons that are unique in a different way, like a legendary heavy sniper or a legendary trace rifle.

Basically title. I get why they are gravitating away from perks like lunas howl (even though I disagree personally), but that being said there are still certain unique rolls that could be filled by guns with generic perks.

Randies is actually basically this because it's one of only two rapid fire scouts and it comes with good rolls. The new kinetic slug shotgun from moonscalation protocol is also an example of a generic gun fitting a unique roll.

So imagine in future, something like a heavy legendary sniper that's a crappy version of Darcy? A little more boss precision DPS than a grenade launcher, with a trade off on ad clear. Something to use when you have a primary/energy exotic on.

Or imagine a legendary trace rifle with no special perk! Trace rifles are a great middle ground between quick ad clear and major killing, and the ones we have are really cool and well done exotics, but they often sit vaulted because of using exotic slot for boss killing.

I think there's a lot of creative rolls for ritual weapons that will make them feel really special without using special perks and I know I'd personally love to see stuff like that.
