Witch hunting and you. The Rule, where to report and why you should NOT post it to r/DTG

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 06:25 AM PDT

    Good Morning Guardians,

From the launch of Shadowkeep, Destiny 2 has become a Free to Entry game and while this is a great step for overall accessibility, it does appear a dark cloud has come with it. Not in game but outside of it.

We want to address this while also advising you this is a serious reminder of Rule 1 and we expect all Sub users to take note of this going forward. We also expect every user to read and understand our Rules before posting to r/DTG, that should go without saying. Full list of Sub Rules

Any questions about our Rules can be directed to us via Modmail

    Season of the Witch

Since the inception of the new entry method of getting into the game we have had to administer roughly 80+ Witch Hunting Bans since Shadowkeep in the last month and we believe we're at the point where this Sub Rule needs driving home for visibility and to stop it from hitting our doorstep.

We know how you feel, we don't like cheaters anymore than the next fair play loving Guardian but reporting it here does not progress your report or make action against cheaters any more effective. You MUST report this through the proper channels, not here.

🚨🚨Report suspected game cheaters to Bungie directly via in-game options or this contact form.🚨🚨

Bungie need your reports more than DTGs users and that will always be a fact.

We have addressed it previously (below) and the time has come to put a full stop to this occurring on r/DTG

While this post will be a copy of previous reminders, all information we have given around it still stands.

    1. A note on Witch Hunting and Harassment - Absolutely no witchhunting, harassment or intention to harass is permitted.

    • Posting the personal information of another user is in a negative or accusatory light is strictly prohibited. This includes posting someone else's gamertag/PSID/Steam Name, looking through their posting history to find their gamertag/PSID/Steam Name, and/or linking to/posting their gamer stats without their explicit permission; including Real Life information as well.

    • The reasons behind this is due to potential harassment which can stem from this behavior. You will be treated under this rule regardless of whether you mean to post the information, whether you didn't know you were doing it, or you are trying to solicit it from other users (Incite a Witch Hunt).

    • Violations of this reddit-wide rule will result in mod action, ranging from temporary bans to admin involvement.

    • Posts about Trials lag, "DDOS'ing", illegitimate Trials cards, illegitimate Competitive or Quickplay Crucible outcomes, and any and all other related claims/subjects/topics/media are now being removed. No exceptions will be granted.

    • Report suspected game cheaters to Bungie directly via in-game options or this contact form.

    Use THIS BUTTON

The subsequent form, looks like this

USE IT - DO NOT REPORT IT ON r/DTG

    What is witchhunting?

Witchhunting comes in a number of forms, from doxxing to "naming and shaming" to posting videos with GamerTags/PSN IDs visible with an accusation of wrongdoing to digging up somebody's Guardian profile (Bungie.net, DestinyDB, DestinyTracker, etc.) in accusing somebody of lying, cheating, etc.

A few examples of witchhunting versus not witchhunting:

    • End of match scorecard with names visible, accusing top player of cheating because they have 100 kills and 0 deaths - Witchhunting

    • End of match scorecard with names edited out, accusing top player of cheating because they have 100 kills and 0 deaths - NOT Witchhunting

    • Post giving real name of user you think is lag switching - Witchhunting

    • Post warning others to avoid a certain player in Vanguard Playlists because they sit AFK the whole time - Witchhunting

    • Post with direct links to Crucible match reports, saying that you believe this is evidence that a team is DDOSing their opponents to win - Witchhunting

    • Posting a link / image showing a Steam name negatively. Yes we are aware these can be changed on a Dime but the rule still stands. DO NOT share other users information to identify them / highlight their possible in game conduct - Witchhunting

    • Video post with player names visible, asking "Is this cheating?" or otherwise questioning the legitimacy of what was recorded - Witchhunting

    • Video post with player names edited out, asking "Is this cheating? or otherwise questioning the legitimacy of what was recorded - NOT Witchhunting (Fair warning, if you edit out someone yet leave ANY names in, very likely it can be found on Destiny Tracker anyway and if that is the case it is Witchhunting)

    Why is this not allowed?

There is a Reddit-wide rule against witchhunting and the rationale is pretty reasonable:

"We all get outraged by the ignorant things people say and do online, but witch hunts and vigilantism hurt innocent people"

But this policy just protects cheaters! How will we get justice?!?!

No, it doesn't protect cheaters. Naming and shaming alleged cheaters on this subreddit will not result in justice. Bungie is NOT going to ban somebody because you paraded their alleged cheating all over this subreddit.

The policy is more there to protect non-cheaters. So if someone alleges that you, a Guardian who follows the rules, were cheating, you won't have others attempting vigilante justice.

You want justice for cheaters? Report folks who you witness cheating in-game, personally. Let Bungie take it from there.

What will happen to folks who witchhunt here?

First-time offenders will receive a 30 day ban from the subreddit.

(Yes, without prior warnings. No, being unaware of the rule doesn't excuse you from it. Yes, it is that strict.)

Second-time offenders will receive a permanent ban from the subreddit.

    The Last Word

This is serious stuff, Guardians. We understand that you HATE cheating because WE DO TOO, but witchhunting is NOT okay, no matter how frustrated you are.

    Consider this a warning.

Please feel free to ask any questions you may have about witchhunting.

If you are unsure if something you wish to post or comment is witchhunting, please send us a Mod Mail to ask for clarification BEFORE you share it!

    Got the Xenophage Exotic LMG!

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 02:17 PM PDT

    Proof:

    http://prntscr.com/ppufgb

    http://prntscr.com/ppufyu

Before Datto and gladd at least ;P

Will post how to do all steps!

    Guide:

Step 1 to get the quest - Go to where Eris / Ikora was standing watching over the ship past sorrows harbour / through the portal: http://prntscr.com/ppuhx3 https://www.reddit.com/r/raidsecrets/comments/dotuhp/exotic_quest_the_journey/ credit to this post for that diagram

Step 2 - Go to the Anchor of Light, and collect a relic at number 1 on this map https://i.imgur.com/HLoggZo.jpg, you then need to interact with 6 plates, shown on this map in order. You have 60 seconds between each interact.

Step 3 - You will need to clear each lost sector one at a time, after each final boss/chest there will be a hive puzzle in a 3x3 grid on the wall. You must get the entire grid matched with the symbol above the grid. You change the grid by shooting the tiles, which will change the row/column adjacent to it. I'm sure someone will get a good guide for this part.

Step 4 - You need to head into the new dungeon and beat the first encounter. Once beating the encounter, past the chest there's a wall of doors (dont stand in front of the doors). On the 3rd level of doors up to the left there is some hive writing on the ground, inside the door there is a hive symbol. Interact to get the next step.

Step 5 - In the next encounter, you need to take a left to the cliff with the big skeleton down below, you can drop down a ledge and there will be some more hive writing. Interact and some platforms will appear. You need to jump on the platforms and grab another relic. Carry this relic back to the start and then to the right, and dunk it by another plate against the wall. A door then opens. Here's a crude map i drew. http://prntscr.com/ppuluj

Step 6 - A door opens right next to where you place the relic. Go through the door and progress to the final boss of the quest. (Beware she is 980 and the adds are 970). This fight is fairly simple, if you can stay alive. You will get 1 of 4 statuses. Fury(or fiery)(solar), Neutral(kinetic), Thunderous(Arc), Abysmal(Void). You need to look around the room you're in and see the symbols above each element - this will show you where you need to bring the relic in the main room. In the center of the room there's a relic, pick it up and dunk it at the correct symbol and you'll get a short buff, during this buff you can damage the boss. PSA: I believe you can only do damage with the element/damage of your buff. Fury buff + izanagi = Immune, Neutral buff + izanagi = A good time

Bungie, please don't stop Divinity being able to stack with other debuffs

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 10:03 AM PDT

This exotic isn't gamebreaking, it requires you to sacrifice one person's damage for a team boost. This change will make it as useless as Sentinel in Y1/Y2, where you were more useful adding DPS rather than buffing in any activity. This change means a team's damage is WORSE than using a tether or an Oppressive Darkness grenade, as these can be used and DPS applied simultaneously.

This will pretty much kill the weapon and I hope the community will make this heard.

Bungie, The Bright Dust changes were too harsh, and for collectors it feels like we're forced to make purchases.

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 12:43 PM PDT

In the past for hardcore players, there never really was a deficit of Bright Dust, I often purchased many things for bright dust and more often than not i was well above 20k bright dust, even after purchasing the tributes from calus for almost full price i never really had an issue.

This has all changed with shadowkeep and its glaring this week, after doing bounties daily i was only able to purchase a few items that i needed for bright dust before I ran out, as it stands right now, having bounties as the only source of bright dust, and with how little dust they actually provide, it is incredibly hard to justify this new system.

Especially considering a vast majority of the items this season are seemingly Silver Exclusive, it seems almost counteractive that with so few Bright Dust items I still cant purchase them all due to how little its possible to earn.

Dismantling items into Bright Dust and the ability to earn the bright engrams with enough play time meant that you could put in a few hours or a day of work and be able to purchase the items you want, but as it stands you have to put in weeks of work and by the time you have enough to purchase what you want, its no longer available and it wont be sold for bright dust again.

This is a very bad way to have this system, and as much as I am willing to support you, Bungie, the changes made to bright dust are harmful to both casual and hardcore players, and all around its a harmful change.

Edit: To clarify, I'm not referring to the Silver Only items, I'm referring to the ones you can buy for Bright Dust

Edit 2: To clarify further as it seems people are taking what I say the wrong way, I am not arguing against the inclusion of silver, and I am not saying Bungie shouldn't want people to pay them money.

All I am saying is that the changes they made to Bright Dust were too much, they over-corrected and made too many changes where only 1 or 2 would've been fine.

DO NOT HAND IN RARE BOUNTY FOR IZANAGI’S BURDEN

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 05:43 PM PDT

DO NOT HAND IN YOUR RARE BOUNTY!!

Seems like the entire key submission quest line for Izanagi's Burden is broken. Multiple users posting about using the key on the box today (Hand key from Gofannon) does not work.

HANDING IN THE RARE BOUNTY DOES NOT COMPLETE THAT STEP!! DO NOT HAND IN YOUR RARE BOUNTY!!

Deleting the box and getting it back will just give you a box with nothing unlocked (I learned the hard way)

    Bungie pls

This event has demonstrated to me just how bad the bright dust economy actually is.

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 07:08 PM PDT

If you were to get both Eververse sets for all 3 characters it would cost you 36000 bright dust.

The event lasts for three weeks, and if you do all 6 weekly bounties on all 3 characters in that time, you would get 10,800

You would need to do 2520 bonus bounties to get the rest

2520 bonus bounties would cost 7,560,000 glimmer, 31x the current cap

If you bought that in shards from spider, it would cost you 7560 shards.

Bungie thought that this is ok.

A new player that just came in with shadowkeep would almost certainly not be able to get all of the event's items.

When you die in the Haunted Forest, don’t respawn if you’re a few gates past the start. Also rez those who die, don’t make them respawn.

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 04:47 PM PDT

Why you ask? If you respawn, it will put you all the way back at the beginning of the stage and you have to run back through all the areas you cleared. Now obviously if all 3 of you die, then yes, you have to respawn. This just saves you time if you wait for the revive from teammates.

    Xenophage Quest Guide!

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 03:36 PM PDT

    1. Go the Eris Morn memory location on the Moon. You have to do a memory challenge to get there or go through Sorrow's Harbor. Then interact with the statues and a chest will spawn, this'll start the quest.
    2. Next go to the Anchor of Light on the Moon. You have to pick up a fiery ball, then take it to small bowls and light them on fire. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/633753575180468235/638834181769789441/HLoggZo.png (The ball spawns next to 1, then work your way 1-6.) After this you'll have an objective to take the ball to.
    3. Now you have to go to all of the K1 lost sectors on the moon and complete a grid puzzle at the end of them, the solutions are: Communion: BL-BR-TM-TM, Revelation: RM-LM-M-M-LM-TM-BM-M, Logistics: TL-BL-MR-M and Crew: TR-ML-M-BM-BR-BR-BM-BM.
    4. Next you have to go into the dungeon. At the first encounter go to the left and right, there are two buildings that are higher than the rest without symbols. Check these building for Hive glyphs on the ground, shoot them and an enemy called Apocalyptic Knight (can't remember name) should spawn. Kill him.
    5. The next step is after the first encounter, there are a bunch of doors, one of which will be symbol-less, go up to that door and interact with the Hive rune.
    6. Once you are in the tunnels, go all the way to the left and you should see a cliff with some platforms floating off the edge. Jump along these platforms and pick up another fiery ball at the end. You have to take two of these fiery balls to the left side of the tunnels, there will be a door with two plates in front of it and you will be able to slam the balls on the plates.
    7. Next you have to continue through the door you just opened. You will reach a room with four symbols in the corners, these symbols will have elemental orbs below them.
    8. You will be given a buff, (Neutral dread - kinetic, Fiery dread - solar, Thunderous dread - arc and Abysmal - void) you will turn this buff from dread into vengeance. With vengeance you can damage the boss with it's corresponding element.
    9. To turn dread into vengeance, you have to take a fiery ball from the middle of the arena and slam in on the correct plate. To know which plate to slam on, you have to look at the symbol above the elemental orb in the previous room and find the plate with that symbol above it.
    10. Kill this boss.
    11. Finally take the bug to Eris Morn.

Congratulations you now have the Xenophage. I think this is the best exotic quest Bunige has ever made. Also sorry if some of this is incorrect.

EDIT - Added void buff name

EDIT 2 - Fixed Crew solution

    EDIT 3 - Removed step 4

Allow us to switch our armor's affinity for the cost of an upgrade module.

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 06:50 AM PDT

Upgrade modules aren't too cheap, but they aren't that expensive either. I think this would be a convenient way for players to better optimize their builds without lugging around three different sets of armor, and it would allow Bungie not to abandon the affinity system (they stated why they implemented it in an earlier TWAB).

    Thoughts?

Bungie Plz Addition: Remove The One-Per-Week Restriction On Earning Escalation Protocol Armor

    Modmail Discussion:

u/Vertiical: "Why it should be added: It would provide a way to grind for the (very cool) Escalation Protocol armor sets and get rolls that fit your character build."

u/kiki_strumm3r: "Why it should be added: Escalation Protocol should be as farmable as Reckoning, Forges, Menagerie, Vex Offensive, or any repeatable activity with a small loot pool. EP was just the first iteration of that design philosophy, and really should be brought in line with the rest of them."

Can we use prime engrams fo pull a random rolled item out of collections?

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 06:13 AM PDT

Or at least do something for the weapon and armor collections to mean something. It'd also be nice if all weapons showed off their perk pools like Avalanche does.

Edit: some additional thoughts, picked prime engrams because they're a rare enough resource to not run into the House of Wolves problem where you weren't actually playing the game to get your rolls, but this still lets you pull one out of collections if you chose to so collections aren't useless for armor and guns

[Spoiler] Add-clear is essential in the new Altar of Sorrow public event and low LL players can still contribute a ton!

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 05:46 PM PDT

In the new public event, Altar of Sorrow, you gain one second on your timer for every add you clear. This includes thrall and acolytes. If you're a low LL guardian like myself, you can really help your team out, especially on the final boss, by just clearing the area of thrall and other adds. Not only are you keeping the battlefield clear for your higher level allies to damage the boss and minibosses, but you're also adding very valuable time to your timer, allowing your heavy hitters to do what they need to do. If you're a pretty low level and still want to contribute to the event, then I highly recommend focusing entirely on defeating adds! Happy hunting guardians!

Winter's Guile does more Melee Damage per hit than Liars Handshake

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 09:04 AM PDT

TL;DR For those of you just catching up, with all the buffs, the final verdict comes down to:

    Liars Handshake + 1-2-Punch + Tractor + Thunder Coil + x3 Combination Blow = 317k Damage

    Winters' Guile + 1-2-Punch + Thunder Coil + Tractor = 325k Damage

Title. Big fan of Ehroar and wanted to crunch some of my own numbers after getting this exotic to drop for me :)

Currently on Greg, these are the damage numbers:

    Liars Handshake + 1-2-Punch = 108k damage per melee

    Winters Guile + 1-2-Punch = 110k damage per melee

BUT! We're guardians and we can always take it a step further. Liars handshake is locked to the Arc class for melee dps, and we got a fancy little mod called "Oppressive Darkness" that weakens enemies hit by your void grenade. Naturally, I wanted to try this out and man oh man did it pay off.

Winters Guile + 1-2-Punch + Oppressive Darkness is a WHOPPING 165k 215k per melee hit.

    https://imgur.com/a/jwnzwYt

    (See Edit 2 for correction)

    TL;DR: Warlock best, Hunter poopy

Thank you for coming to my ted talk

    EDIT:

Hey folks! I did a bit more testing and it was pointed out to me by u/Oswinnyy that I should be trying out the Thunder Coil mod! Since we can add it to both hunter or warlock, I decided to try them both. This was some of the hardest timing I had to do to get the Thunder Coil to proc on the warlock within the 5 second frame.

It should also be said that I do realize the liars handshake is much easier to use, my goal here was strictly numbers with ease of use aside. Without further ado:

    Liars Handshake + 1-2-Punch + Tractor + Thunder Coil = 317k Damage. My god.

Winters' Guile + 1-2-Punch + Thunder Coil (The timing for tractor proved too difficult for me) = 250k Damage

You win this time hunters, but if that timeframe ever gets extended, whoo boy you can bet I'm going to try Tractor cannon with this.

EDIT 2: If you thought I'm a dummy and didn't actually put oppressive darkness on my class item when I tested this first, you'd be absolutely right. I've fixed the above to show the correct numbers and testing proof

    FINAL EDIT:

Well Boys we did it. After giving it a couple rounds, u/FlameInTheVoid gave me a good tip to tractor before the final Winter's Guile Buff. With some good timing, this has resulted in a VERY TASTY 325k DAMAGE PER MELEE

    Winters' Guile + 1-2-Punch + Thunder Coil + Tractor = 325k Damage

Thanks everyone for joining me on this journey. Warlocks Rise up! :D
