    I don’t want to be a negative Nancy, but the lack of a vendor/world drop refresh makes this expansion feel more like the old style dlc than an expansion.

    Posted: 02 Oct 2019 04:09 PM PDT

    I'm not really complaining, but it just feels a bit off to call this an expansion. When the only thing different about this one from old dlcs is that it's drip fed instead of all right there.

    Does anyone else feel this way?

    Sony has agreed to implement Cross Play on any game the developers want to. Bungie, Let's EF'IN GO!!!

    Posted: 02 Oct 2019 04:16 AM PDT

    You know Microsoft is all over Cross Play!! Just hit the switch.

    Edit : link to source, https://metro.co.uk/2019/10/02/ps4-crossplay-can-now-support-title-says-sony-10845969/

    the image is wrong but I cannot change it unfortunately.

    Edit 2: oh hello Frontpage!, :)

    Edit 3: half of the comments here are worries about the pvp section between consoles and pc. I doesn't have to be that way. You could (theoretically) opt-out of pc lobbies. This won't be a problem.

    [Spoiler] So, uh, did Bungie get Skolas and Taniks mixed up?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2019 07:05 PM PDT

    The entire mission was set in Taniks' ketch and he even fought the way Taniks fought. This guy didn't use any of the moves Skolas was known for. It's like they threw Skolas name into Taniks...

    (SPOILERS) I am loving Shadowkeep so far, but please bungo, with the plot moving the way it is, No more reskins.

    Posted: 02 Oct 2019 11:56 AM PDT

    So after just finishing the campaign for Shadowkeep, I gotta say, im pretty happy.

    After years of teasing and building, they finally showed us the big ol spooky bois getting involved in the main story as direct antagonists.

    The mystery around the doom doritos still remains though, even with us now having explored the inside of one. I am legit so excited to learn more as the season moves forward, especially after that awesomely atmospheric final level.

    However.

    I was very aware that the majority of this dlc has been populated by assets weve already seen and killed a thousand times before. (Albiet with some fancy glows and a red paint job). For the size and nature of this content drop its not really a big deal, and it suits the gameplay and story just fine.

    Considering bungie just bought thier independance and have been working on a completely new business model for Destiny at the same time, I was hardly expecting to see an entirely new race added to the game or anything like that, but I do worry for the future of the game.

    Destiny by in large runs off of assets we saw being developed for the original destiny 5 years ago; the enemy factions, models and enviromental assets are all pretty darn familiar to most of us now.

    Now where I worry, is that with the introduction of our ultimate enemy; the pyramid ships, we will not be seeing a new faction, but instead yet another reskin of the already existing enemy types. Complete with largely the same animations and models, just now with an even SPOOKIER glow.

    There is already precedent for this with the Taken, SIVA, and even the scorn being fairly derivitive of pre-existing assets. And the story so far even leans into the idea of the Darkness not really being another enemy race, but a metapysical force antithetical to the light/traveler.

    But please Bungo, do the Doom Doritos Justice. Give us some badass new enemies to fight, with a crazy new look and vibe. It would make me love this game even more.

    TL;DR: Bungie please dont make the darkness another fallen reskin.

    What Bungie has accomplished is impressive (A Sysadmin Perspective)

    Posted: 02 Oct 2019 01:11 PM PDT

    I want to point out that whoever manages the Bungie infrastructure, at some point some months ago they had directives that looked like this:

    1. We are going to give the option to migrate users from 3 different platforms (Xbox, PS, Battle.net) to a single unified platform (Steam)

    2. We are then going to decommission all primary characters off Battle.net and migrate them over to Steam within a 24 hour window

    3. Simultaneously during this migration, we're going to deploy a major revision of the product to production

    4. At the end of the upgrade and migration window, we will be expecting an exponential and explosive growth of new registered users, so we need to make sure everything scales too.

    5. All hands on deck for the migration to squash bugs live.

    If anyone here has ever experienced something like this before in their professional careers, they gotta know how much work this is, and how much teamwork and coordination is required. It's amazing to me that today everything seems to be working just fine. It's not uncommon for this kind of thing to knock orgs offline for a week. Sometimes to the point to where you gotta roll everything back and try again.

    Whoever manages the Bungie Sysadmin/Devops team, hats off to you and your team. I hope you all get that PTO approved and you get a chance to sleep.

    Also, if you could write a whitepaper about how it all had to happen, I would love to read it. I bet it would make for a great learning tool on how to do such a large scale migration.

    "Dont bother doing the old campaigns, its not worth it"

    Posted: 02 Oct 2019 11:14 AM PDT

    Why do people keep saying this?

    Millions of dollars went into the creation of these campaigns: art, music, cgi cinematics, etc...

    Even if it doesnt give us better gear, I might as well enjoy the spectacle that many artists poured years of their lives into.

    Perk changes from Patch 2.6.0.1

    Posted: 02 Oct 2019 11:50 AM PDT

    Hey there! We all know how wonderful it is when numbers get changed and we don't know what the new numbers are. So, I went and got them/collated them for everyone's viewing pleasure! Note, this is in regards to PvE, not PvP

    Rampage:

    1x stack = ~10% increased damage

    2x stacks = ~20%

    3x stacks = ~33%

    Kill Clip: ~33% increased damage

    Swashbuckler:

    1x = ~6.6%

    2x = ~13.2%

    3x = ~20%

    4x = ~26.6%

    5x = ~33%

    Multikill Clip:

    1x = ~17%

    2x = ~33%

    3x = ~50%

    Master of Arms (Recluse's Perk) ~21% crit damage increase ~98% body damage increase (deals about the same damage as a crit still)

    Desperado/Onslaught Individual damage values per shot were decreased (for example, damage PER SHOT even with rampage stacks on Breakneck was about ~1.2% less. That being said, the perks increased ROF does lead to an overall substantial increase in damage though I couldn't get exact numbers. They still shred.) At Rampage x3, Breakneck still does an increase of ~40% DPS (so, quite a bit better than other Rampage weapons) on top of having better staggering and reload capabilities compared to most other Autos in the game, falling behind only really behind exotics.

    Surrounded's base damage (30%) wasn't actually affected here, only its precision bonus that was kind of random on weapons. Surrounded spec is still a +10% so any weapon with Surrounded can sit pretty at +40% increased damage.

    Subsistence went from reducing total ammo by ~60% to reducing it by ~35%. Still reloads an estimated 15%-20%

    Ricochet Rounds basically just lost some range overall. Not much else to say here because exact numbers vary wildly from weapon to weapon.

    Bonus stuff:

    Explosive Head, Explosive Payload and Timed Payload are outright increases to damage by ~10% for crit damage and ~15% for body damage due to the changes for red bar crits. This was always the case with higher tier enemies but previously it was a damage loss for red bar enemies due to damage weighting.

    Dragonfly's damage increased by the base damage values for each enemy (so any + to damage on a red bar applies to Dragonfly's damage as well)

    The Red bars in the Tribute hall still have 2x modifiers, and seemingly the Shadow Thrall in the Whisper of the Worm mission do as well.

    I have a guide going over all the non-pinnacle/exotic weapon perks in the game (as well as some of the barrel and magazine perks that have an impact in game). Feel free to check it out!

    Edited for Formatting (and somehow forgetting to put in Multikill Clip X_X)

    Edit 2: Exotic Boogaloo: Apparently my numbers for MKC and Swash were off because the Tribute hall is EVEN WEIRDER than before.

    Armor ornaments genuinely should be universal.

    Posted: 02 Oct 2019 04:34 PM PDT

    By universal I mean two things:

    1. All armor gets to be used as ornaments, not just Eververse armor.

    2. Armor ornaments should be applicable to all armor, such as blue armor.

    Honestly, a lot of normal armor looks great, and entirely deserves to be a part of the fashion mechanic in the game.

    And if it was applicable to every item, it would alleviate the commonly hideous mish-mash of items during light leveling.

    Preferably for players, anything in collections would just be an ornament by default, but I get that Bungie tries to make money by connecting things to the store.

    But there are ways you could have a universal ornament system yet still have it be connected to the store:

    For example, adding an option to fuse a certain item with bright dust in order to save it as an ornament.

    Or even just having "ornament tickets" drop from Eververse that allow you to convert a normal item into an ornament.

    Honestly, time and effort was already put in to establish the ornament system ingame, it is a shame if it doesn't have more of its potential used as it shouldn't be too hard.

    [Spoiler] I just want to say that I welcome catalysts like Cerberus+1 anytime

    Posted: 02 Oct 2019 06:38 AM PDT

    I think this is what an exotic catalyst should be. For people who don't know, its catalyst is holding reload button will switch gun to a slower fire rate, lower range but tighter spread mode. It has a unique animation (it isn't a reload animation) and it changes the gun completely.

    There are catalysts like Hard Light where it adds a small amount of stability, and compared to this, its almost nothing. I think we are seeing a big change in catalysts after Forsaken and I hope this continues, I love exotic catalysts, chasing and completing them. It adds a lot to the guns.
