Bungie: loads 0 people in public events, altar of Sorrow and escalation protocol. Also Bungie: loads 15 people into the gulch so you can’t get your obelisk completed.

    Posted: 18 Dec 2019 11:52 AM PST

Edit: Since people are making several comments, this was poking fun at when Shadowkeep and other major expansions came out. During Shadowkeep, playerbase was at an all time high, yet no one would match into similar instances with public events, altars and the Vex activity.

    Matchmaking is fire.

Bungie please let us pick up the 8 weekly bounties at osiris instead of heading to 4 obilisks every time

    Posted: 18 Dec 2019 08:06 AM PST

Edit: Looks like we can pick them up at the tower next week, which should have happened this week already in my opinion.

But the inventory and organization of items is still a problem in destiny. The bounty tab is great but the inventory is a mess rn, dismentaling stuff takes ages as well as item management. I mean the content in this season is not overwhelming, we could easily have gotten a makeover and i hope this will be adressed in future updates.

Many comments here suggested bounty boards, which is a great idea in my opinion.

Add Brightdust as a reward for Season Pass holders for every 5 levels past 100.

    Posted: 18 Dec 2019 09:19 AM PST

This helps to solve at least 2 major problems. Note this is not meant to replace the current bounties. The changes they made this Season are a good start but don't help the core issues with the new bounty system which forces us into 1 of 3 gameplay options on all 3 of our characters to earn Brightdust instead of just playing the game.

    1) Brightdust Economy. This has been a big comment that players have had since the Shadowkeep changes. This would help players to earn brightdust generically by playing without having to go into specific modes or play on other characters they don't want to have to play on.

    2) Reasons to care past 100. Right now many Season Pass holders are Destiny 2 vets at least. They don't care as much about the returning engram each season because odds are they have a lot of what is in it. This gives them more agency past 100 as it keeps them playing if they so care. It also requires dedication an effort on the part of the player.

    Edit 1: Another Reason

    3) It fits with the redesign philosophy they gave us. They wanted brightdust to come from gameplay not from buying Bright Engrams for Silver and sharding the contents. We are instead rewarded for playing the game itself, only having more than other players because we put more effort into having more.

Edit 2: For those questioning where the line of thought comes from in point 3, look no further than the words of Luke Smith himself who a paraphrased above right here: https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/47935

Edit 3: Thanks for the Gold and Silver kind strangers. I won't let Tess get it until she deserves it.

Edit 4: I'd like to summarize some key comments from below I am not passing my judgment on them just helping to collect then. These suggestions/concerns do NOT necessarily represent my opinions.

1)This method doesn't really solve the problem for players who aren't as active throughout a season as others and may only be able to complete the pass itself. This also leads to a divide between haves and have nots, but at the end of the day the haves did make a purchase.

    2) Premium currency during the pass itself would also be good. The Season Pass is not meant to equivilate to actually Silver standards itself, rather it is supposed to offer significantly more content than an MTX purchase in general. Many games such as Fortnite and Call of Duty offer premium currencies during their pass, occasionally even enough to buy the next one though these passes are generally harder than a Destiny 2 Season Pass typically is. Players seem to like the difficulty of the pass itself so changing that might not be a good idea. The amount of Silver may have a different ratio to the cost of the Season Pass than these games for this reason and the fact the Season Pass gives other content outside the pass.

    3) Make the Brightdust amount earned smaller by 1/5 and do it every level instead of every 5 to make all levels matter and the full experience feel more rewarding.

Saint-14's Briefing when he gets told all about the past 5 years events would be hillarious.

    Posted: 18 Dec 2019 05:25 AM PST

Saint 14: I HAVE RETURNED TO THE CITY! VANGUARD, TELL ME WHAT I HAVE MISSED SINCE SIX FRONTS!

Ikora: Well, to start off with this one guardian went into the Black Garden and saved The Traveler kind of.

Saint-14: I AM GOING TO BET THAT THIS IS THE SAME ONE THAT SAVED ME!

Zavala: Yes, probably. They have a habit of doing the impossible. Then he killed Crota-

    Saint 14: WHO'S CROTA?

Ikora: doesn't matter now, he's dead. But he was a hive god. Who's dad came to visit and waged war with his Taken.

Saint 14: YOU MEAN THOSE BLACK CREATURES THAT LOOK LIKE ALIENS BUT ARE NOT?

Zavala... yes. Anyway, the guardian killed him, we had a time of relative peace. Then a Cabal army showed up and captured the Traveler and took everyone's light.

Saint-14: My god... It was bad enough dealing with my OWN light taken. How did you fix THAT?

Ikora: The same miracuolus Gurdain that saved the day 30 different times did it again.

Saint-14: THIS IS WHY THEY ARE MY IDOL!

Zavala: then... well we lost Cayde.

Saint- 14: GODDDAMIT HE OWED ME SO MUCH GLIMMER! Also a tragic loss, he was a good Guardian. BUT ALL THAT GLIMMER!

Zavala: then we found a ancient evil pyramid that is a connection to the ancient evil darkness on the moon.

Saint 14: WHICH YOU THEN DESTROYED BY HEATBUTTING IT UNTILL IT DIED.

    Ikora... actualy, it's still there.

Saint-14: ... WHY ARE WE HAVING COOKIES WHEN THE ULTIMATE EVIL IS COMING AND ACTIVE ON THE MOON THEN?

    Zavala: I don't know Saint. I don't know.

The bright dust economy is straight up trash and not only is there a new season, THERES AN EVENT! And I can’t barely obtain anything!

    Posted: 18 Dec 2019 07:20 AM PST

6 bounties on each character a week is still not enough for me to even get everything i want from this new event. By the time I even have any type of bright dust to try and get more then one item THE EVENT WILL BE OVER. We need to go back to what the bright dust economy was before with being able to dismantle items for dust, this bounty thing JUST DOESNT WORK! Especially for events. That's just more items I get to miss out on because the bright dust economy is trash now, this is so aggravating BUNGIE, go back to letting us dismantle items for dust. I was able to get everything a few seasons ago before the bright dust update. And I played at a casual leisure pace, now I can barely get my hands on anything and it's starting to aggravate the hell outta me. I know I can't be the only one out here man come on guardians.

Note: I swear I coulda seen a "mega thread" (whatever that means) on this but I couldn't find it so ima just post it here. Hope that's not an issue.

Bungie should stop treating players who pay for seasons/dlc/expansions the same as free to play players in Eververse or with the rewards.

    Posted: 18 Dec 2019 05:31 PM PST

I've seen people suggestion all kind of things in this subreddit. Cranking up the bright dust rewards. Having Silver in the battlepass and so on.

Some of these may work and some of them won't. Some people may not realize this, but putting Silver in the battlepass would only push Eververse more. Yes Apex, Fortnite or other games may give you some currency back, or even more, BUT those games basically LIVE because of the store.

Destiny 2 is a fun game because you play the game, and get rewards by completing activities, not by making currency to buy skins from the store. I personally don't want Destiny 2 to be pushed even more into the Free to play genre.

BUT, I think Bungie treating everyone the same is a really bad step. I hate Eververse as it is right now. It makes sense for a free to play game, but I'm not a free to play player..so why do I have to deal with it like it is right now?

Try a first step and separate the rewards for your player base.

Players who bough expansions/dlc's/seasons get Seasonal and Event engram back. This way, you have chances to get rewards from the seasons and from the event by continue playing the game.

Free to play players gets the Eververse as it is right now.

Without separating the player base, there won't be a good solution. Is simple, I personally wouldn't want free to play players to be able to get too much bright dust to by everything in the seasons by playing. It doesn't make any sense financially no matter who you are.

So basically, the bright dust increase or silver rewards are not an option because they would basically increase the rewards for free to play players also. Yea you can put more bright dust in the premium battlepass tab, BUT this won't resolve the problem. There are players who don't get to level 100+ in the battlepass even if they paid for expansions/seasons.

Having the seasonal engrams and event engrams back is a simple solution to give paying players the rewards back. The Forsaken Eververse was perfect. I have no problem with them continuing making some Silver exclusive items. But please..don't put freaking Silver in the season pass..I don't want this game to become even more towards free to play store simulator..

Comprehensive list of why "Play your way" failed.

    Posted: 18 Dec 2019 01:48 AM PST

    Hello!

As you all know, the Y3 "play your way" has been more restrictive than not, and is marred by problems that run directly against the motto. I thought it would be a good idea to collect all the issues. List in no particular order.

    - Elemental Affinities on armor: while the general scavenger/finder mods alleviated the problem somewhat, it still exists. You have to jump through quadruple RNG (get the item, get a good total stat budget, get a good stat distribution, get the elemental affinity) if you really care about your armor.

    - Exotic primaries not having a mod slot, making them useless in difficult activities: this is a symptom of the Champion system. You cannot counteract Champions in difficult content with Exotic primaries, making them completely useless in the endgame.

    - Seasonal armor mod slot: if you want to use seasonal armor mods, you better get ready to grind out a complete set of gear every 3 months (through the aforementioned quadruple RNG). This does not feel good, since armor is not easily replaced. Additionally, there are no good repeatable sources of high roll armor for this season. This is especially horrible in combination with elemental affinities and Dawn seasonal armor mods.

    - Bounties: to a lesser extent, Destiny has become a game of checklists. If you want to efficiently do bounties, you are switching your weapons multiple times, and chances are that you will use weapons that you don't want to use.

    - Artifact champion mods: similar as with the Exotic primary problem, this is a symptom of the champion system. Bungie are trying to mix up the meta each season by more or less restricting which weapons you can bring into high level activities. This restricts players this season to Scout Rifles, Pulse Rifles, and Bows in the "endgame".

This feels like the most restrictive system in D2 so far (even more so than Y1, where it really did not matter what you wore, because everything was trash :p), which is a shame - because the current implementation has the potential for greatness if just a few simple tweaks were implemented.

    - remove elemental affinity from armor

    - turn Artifact anti champion mods from mods into buffs that apply to all primary weapons (but you would still have to decide if you want to run Unstoppable, Overload, or Barrier)

    - turn the seasonal mod slot into a universal mod slot that takes seasonal mods from all seasons

    - bounties: Maybe have more "general bounties" (melee kills, grenade kills, elemental kills, activity completions, ...), less fragmented specific weapon bounties ("Kill 98 Cabal enemies with mid air bow dick shots"); maybe less bounties total but more experience (and material) rewards for activity completion?

This would be pretty much my dream of armor 2.0.

    Edit:

Jesus. Don't gild me, boys+girls, gild cancer research or the charity of your choice! :*

    (thank you, though!)

The season symbol on armor shouldn’t change when an ornament is applied.

    Posted: 18 Dec 2019 08:22 AM PST

Not sure if has been posted already, but now that the inventory images of gear change to reflect ornaments on them, the symbol of the ornament is carried over on the image. With seasonal mods only being available on their respective season's armor, the season symbol is important on the armor's inventory image so we don't have to go into details of all our armor pieces to see which mods can be applied.

A guide to Warlock Zooming (Attunement of Sky)

    Posted: 18 Dec 2019 07:04 PM PST

Hello fellow guardians. As i'm sure all of you are aware, there were recently some solar buffs that came around, including a bunch of changes to dawnblade. Some of these changes were a bit controversial with the warlocks, with sunbracers enthusiasts rejoycing, and daybreak skaters in grief. However, there was one absolutely massive change that almost nobody expected to be significant.

Icarus dash - Icarus dash can now be activated twice before cooldown and gives an additional boost of speed inside of Daybreak.

So essentially, icarus dash is now a carbon copy of twilight garrison from D1, and allows attunement of sky to still zoom around in their super, despite the less powerful super.

Before these changes, the fastest way of making your warlock move was to worldline dash off a ledge and hit your burst glide. It would cast you really far forward, allowing warlocks to get from one place to another really fast. Other than that, there was only one other zooming method, which was sword dashing, essentially just jumping, swiping your sword, and using burst glide to conserve your momentum. you could chain these sword dashes pretty fast, but it sapped ammo.

Now, things have changed, mostly due to icarus dash.

    What is Icarus Skipping?

Icarus skipping is a technique that I discovered that essentially allows you to multiply your momentum using icarus dash. Icarus skipping is essentially where you jump off the ground with some speed, and activate burst glide, and icarus dash in quick succession. It sort of looks like you're skipping across the ground, hence the name.

The fact that it multiplies is important, as if it were additive, it would work wildly differently. Since it's multiplicative, lower speeds really won't give you much of an increase, where a worldline launch accelerated by icarus skipping will give you enough speed to kill yourself upon impact even after crossing the entire leviathan runway.

How do you do an Icarus Skip?

To perform an Icarus skip, you need to have some kind of speed. At the beginning, i recommend doing a sword dash with your burst glide as the speed boost, but as you practice, you can actually get some significant zoomage by just burst gliding off the ground.

When you're speeding forward from a sword dash, jump off the ground right as you hit it, then wait for about a half-second before hitting burst glide and icarus dash in quick succession. The half-second delay is important, as the speed multiplier tends to peak just in the center at the peak height of the jump. if you activate too early (Even if the glide is going faster) or too late as it begins to slow down, the multiplier will go down.

You can see the Skip in the videos below.

Different types of skating that use Icarus Skipping

My personal favorite type of skating right now is what i call the Medium Skate. It essentially combines sword dashing with a modified icarus skip. Icarus skip only needs a midair burst glide activation with some speed, so you can do the sword swing and burst glide, then use that glide as your glide for the icarus skip, giving you some pretty massive speed.

This is much faster than just sword dashing into a regular skip, and after you do a second skip off the ground, you'll end up with around the same speed as the old worldline skating while only using 1 sword ammo from a regular sword.

    Here's a video

The new kind of worldline skating i mentioned is pretty nutty. It's essentially as simple as using the old worldline skate with burst glide, but using icarus skips to keep your speed going.

    Here's a video

And finally, here's what i call the Universal skate, since it can be used without any weapon dependencies. It's not extremely fast, but it's definitely faster than sprinting everywhere. Essentially, you just tap burst glide off the ground and turn it off to get a bit of speed, then use Icarus Skip. Here's where it's essential to perfect Icarus Skip if you want to do this, as the multiplier will not accelerate you enough to be worth it if you don't.

    Here's a video

Really hope you liked this. If you find any other ways to use Icarus Skip to reach insane speeds, please let me know, as i'd love to see them.

I know that at the beginning of d2 they made public events really rewarding, but now I'm always thinking, "Why am I even doing this?" It takes 5 minutes maybe even more for some heroic public events, yet they are very unrewarding. They give you 2 resources from that planet, some experience, some glimmer, and 250 clan experience. Why can't it give me enough resources to rank a planetary vendor once?

Blink bugged, season 9 evidence provided.

    Posted: 18 Dec 2019 01:57 PM PST

Blink no longer works properly since season 9, You can no longer blink during weapon change you have to wait 1 to 2 seconds before it will activate.
Here is a video of me attempting to blink after weapon swap.

    https://youtu.be/t7mrRjUUpNg

Aztec's video providing lots of evidence of him blink immediately during weapon swaps. Skip to 35 seconds onwards to see a few swaps to shotgun blinks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3S413G8meq4 This has nothing to do with astrocyte verse, that exotic does not change anything to do with this.

Please help me get this noticed by bungie I've been trying very hard to get attention drawn to this.

Weekly Obelisk Bounties Quick Grind Mini-Guide

    Posted: 18 Dec 2019 09:12 AM PST

Howdy fellow guardians! I was off yesterday and ended up playing way too long and managed to grind out all the weekly obelisk bounties on my Hunter. I put together a list of what I think was the quickest way to get them done along with how I multitasked a few of them. For extra EXP, make sure to grab as many relevant bounties as you can from every vendor applicable. Please feel free to add or share some other tips!

    Tangled Shore Bounties

    • Leaderless, They Fall - 20 Fallen Captain Kills and 45 Precision Sniper Rifle Kills: On the Moon, head to the lost sector K1 Logistics in Archer's Line. There are 5 captains in there and you can snipe your way through the sector. 4 quick runs and you're done.
    • No Fury Like a Guardian Scorned - 300 Scorn Kills: Blind Well in Dreaming City. It's Scorn this week. Bam!

    Mars Bounties

    • Legion's Downfall - Kill Cabal: Castelum on Leviathan. Endless waves of Cabal. I did this along with the Careful Aim bounty.
    • Perfect Shot - 150 Hive Precision Kills: On the Moon, head to the lost sector K1 Revelation in Sorrow's Harbor. A lot of Hive in here and the Acolytes are easy to headshot. I used a hand cannon. You could also do Altar of Sorrow but I liked not competing for kills. It took about 2 runs.

    Nessus Bounties

    • End Simulation - Defeat Vex: I have a favorite quick run lost sector on Nessus for lots of Vex kills. Head to The Orrery in Artifact's Edge. I used middle-tree void Hunter and went to town which helped with the other Nessus bounty.
    • Harnessing the Void - 60 Void Ability Kills: See above bounty! I always had a void subclass on so this also got progress while I did other stuff. Easy breezy.

EDZ Bounties (once you manage to interact with the darn obelisk lol)

    • Three Birds, One Stone - 3 Scout Rifle Kills Without Reloading for 180 kills: Head to the shadow thrall room in the Whisper of the Worm quest. Done in less than 5 minutes as they all die in 1 or 2 hits.
    • Careful Aim - 125 Precision Bow Kills on Cabal: Castelum on Leviathan. Hush was perfect for this. I did this in conjunction with the Legion's Downfall bounty.

I'm certain I'll be able to grind these out much quicker on my other two characters now that I figured this all out. Shout out and thanks to my clan mate Mo1518 for reminding me about the Blind Well this week!

I hope this helps. Happy grinding!

At first Eververse was supposed to fund content we liked, now I feel like it’s just funding next season’s Eververse.

    Posted: 18 Dec 2019 06:43 PM PST

I mean what's the end goal here?

Now we get so much time and resources invested into stuff I have to pay for. Armor sets, weapons, so many fucking cosmetics. And for the guys who paid for a game? Reused assets and maybe a few world additions but that's it. Too much of the game is about Eververse, more time and effort needs to be invested into the other stuff that people pay for.

Bungie, Thank you for Corridors of Time

    Posted: 18 Dec 2019 11:33 AM PST

Since Destiny 2's launch, I've rarely been able to fully feel the grandeur and spectacle that story missions presented, nor did I ever feel like I was making a difference in any way.

Ghaul, the Fanatic, and even the Worm God Xol, all had a sense of "HUGE BOSS BATTLE" to it, but truthfully I never felt like I was doing something that would've gone wrong if I couldn't do it. If I fail, someone greater will fill my shoes.

    Then comes Corridors of Time.

Part 1 alone had me immediately invested. I've heard of Saint-14 for so long now, the greatest Titan that has ever lived...One who Osiris spent lifetimes trying to rescue. To save such a legend, me? That alone was intriguing. Defending the Saint's bubble while waves and waves of Fallen enemy spawned, it was glorious. But it felt like a bitter sweet ending when I had to go back to the present without bringing the legend back. But I remained hopeful, as it now seemed possible to finally make a mark on history.

Come Tuesday, I was extremely excited to discover how the story continues. Especially since the roadmap shows this week as "Save a Legend".

I just finished the prerequisite quest, and finished the mission itself, an it was one of the best experiences I've ever witnessed in gaming.

The size of the Martyr Mind...The fact that Saint-14 cheers you on the entire fight...The sheer amount of Vex thrown at you in this giant arena...It all made me feel incredible, and confident. I hadn't felt that in a long time. I'm not the best PvE player, nor am I in any way close to being the best in PvP, so I've always felt like just another speck in the playerbase, who'll never really achieve anything. This mission changed that, it made me feel like I was doing something, something that will affect the world that I play in.

I really felt like I was changing the course of history. To be the direct inspiration for Saint-14, and to be the one who brings him back to life. An accomplishment like this is something I never thought I'd be capable of.

Thank you again Bungie, you've given me a sense of self-confidence that I've been a stranger too for years. Thank you for coming to my TED talk
