With auto-loading gone, it only makes sense to re-buff the Rapid Fire Frames & Trench Barrel.

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 09:41 AM PST

It's no secret that shotguns are poor for PvE right now. These weapons were nerfed due to their potential with Auto Loading. It really would've made sense if Bungie had un-nerfed the Rapid Fire frame shotguns and Trench Barrel now that Auto Loading is gone.

BRING BACK IKELOS TO ITS FORMER GLORY!

    That is all

Edit: I should say Rapid Fire Frames OR Trench Barrel. I'm not asking for an absolute god slayer, but when it comes to the higher tier of gameplay such as Raids or 980 NFs, Master Time Trials etc, there's no real reason to have a shotgun; as everything outclasses it. I'd just like to see it have some more stopping power when it comes to Majors and some bosses.

Personally I don't think we should have to re-proc Trench Barrel every 3 shots anymore however.

Edit 2: Seems a lot of people think I'm talking about strictly for boss DPS. That's not the case. I think it should be more effective against things like champions, majors, etc.

Edit 3: FOR CLARIFICATION. Prior to Shadowkeep Lunafaction Locks with Rifts or Wells and a Titan with Rally Barricades could automatically reload the entire teams weapons constantly with 0 downtime until the well or rift expired. This is why Trench Barrel was nerfed back around Season of Opulence/Drifter(I cant remember) from lasting the entire duration of the clip, to having to re proc every 3 shots. Then shortly after Auto RELOADING got nerfed and the Trench Barrel was left still nerfed. Originally Trench Barrel was nerfed because of Auto Reloading and how easy it was to melt things. So no. I'm not attacking your Auto Loading Holster. This is completely different.

Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

If instead of granting +2 to all stats upon Masterworking, every Energy Level gave you a Stat Point you could freely assign to and move between Stats, Armor 2.0 wouldn’t be nearly as infuriating.

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 03:31 PM PST

    DISCLAIMER:

I do not think this is a cure-all for Armor 2.0. There are people out there with far more well thought out and detailed solutions for the problems that Armor 2.0 faces.

This is merely a small suggestion.

    Armor 2.0 Would be Granted:

    • +0 at Energy Level 1 (0 Total)

    • +1 at Energy Level 2 (1 Total)

    • +1 at Energy Level 3 (2 Total)

    • +1 at Energy Level 4 (3 Total)

    • +2 at Energy Level 5 (5 Total)

    • +1 at Energy Level 6 (6 Total)

    • +1 at Energy Level 7 (7 Total)

    • +1 at Energy Level 8 (8 Total)

    • +1 at Energy Level 9 (9 Total)

    • +3 at Energy Level 10 (12 Total: Masterwork)

You would be able to freely move these points around, adding them to whatever stat you prefer, and removing them from others you do not need them on.

ONLY THESE 12 POINTS WOULD BE MOVABLE.

This would grant some measure of control over the whole RNG Fiesta that is Armor 2.0

    What do you all think?

Getting disconnected from my “game world” during a Gambit match-and then having a stern warning for leaving a Gambit match sure doesn’t feel good.

    Optimized Bounties for 1/15/2020

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 10:04 AM PST

Today's Optimized Bounties are brought to you by gas leaks. They're not fun! Don't get one.

    Let's get started!

Step 1 - Open every window.

Step 2 - Pick up the following Dailies - you can check here for the Weeklies you need. Pick them up in this order, because we're starting on good ol' Earth today!

    • Saint XIV Daily – Leaderless Legion – Kill 3 Cabal Bosses
    • Saint XIV Daily – Rank and File – Kill 50 Cabal
    • Zavala Daily - One Shot, One Kill - 25 Precision Kills
    • Zavala Daily – The Harder They Fall – Kill 10 Challenging Enemies in Strikes
    • Zavala Daily – Vanguardian – Kill 50 Enemies in Strikes
    • Zavala Daily – Finish Them – Kill 5 Enemies With Finishers in Strikes
    • Shaxx Daily - By the Code - Defeat 10 Opponents
    • Shaxx Daily - Defeat 1 Opponent With Super
    • Drifter Daily - Fistful of Motes - Deposit 25 Motes in Gambit
    • Drifter Daily - Line 'em Up - As a Fireteam, Kill 5 Guardians in Gambit
    • Drifter Daily – Elite Executioner – Kill 10 Challenging Enemies in Gambit
    • Drifter Daily – Final Ploy – Kill 5 Enemies With Finishers in Gambit
    • Spider WANTED – Metal Captain
    • Spider WANTED – Zerz, the Unstoppable Weight
    • Spider WANTED – Phyzann, Drowned Captain
    • Spider WANTED – Varghul, Fragment of Oryx
    • Devrim Kay Daily – Grenadier – 20 Grenade Kills in EDZ
    • Devrim Kay Daily – Deadeye – 10 Precision Kills in EDZ
    • Devrim Kay Daily – Front Line Defense – 30 Cabal Kills in EDZ

Step 3 - Follow these steps:

    1. Remember all those Ghost Fragments we got? We're turning them in for cash money! By which I mean XP. And also Glimmer. Pick up Devrim's Dailies, then run the four Lost Sectors that correspond with Spider's bounties (The Drain, Pathfinder's Crash, Flooded Chasm, Cavern of Souls). Then do your best Emeril impression and go "BAM!", because we just knocked out three Dailies, 4 WANTED's, finished your Lost Sector Obelisk Weekly, and contributed more kills to the Fallen/Cabal Obelisk Weeklies. BAM! (20 minutes)

    2. Run one Sun Dial, any difficulty. (15 minutes) This will get you the three Cabal bosses, and hopefully finish the 300 Cabal Kills for the Obelisk Weekly (or get you very close at least).

    3. Run one Strike. (15 minutes) I'd recommend a Hive Strike to contribute to Zavala's Weekly, but you've got a whole week for that, so run your favorite!

    4. Play one Crucible match. (10 minutes)

    5. Play one-to-two Gambit Prime matches (10-20 minutes).

    Total Non-Elemental Non-Weapon-Specific Bounties Cleared: 15 Daily, 5-6 Weekly

    Total Time: 70-80 minutes

Note 1: If you want three more, you can do Ana's Dailies on Mars today in a single Lost Sector. 5 minutes tops. Only reason I didn't put them above was it's an extra trip that doesn't really feed into any larger Weeklies. I was hoping there'd be a WANTED bounty to pair with Mars, but alas.

An overshield is excellent for a dodge, but not really worth it for barricades and Rifts. Can we get a faster casting animation for those instead?

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 01:26 PM PST

All we're really doing is delaying our deaths since we're static while casting. All the enemy has to do is throw a grenade at us and we die after casting the barricade, or wait for the overshield to disappear after we're done casting rift to pull the trigger on that shotgun.

An increase in casting speed would take the need for an overshield away for barricades and make placing down a rift in PvP less suicidal, as you can quickly run.

Thanks to everyone hard at work on solving the new puzzle

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 10:43 AM PST

It's times like this when I remember why this community is the best. So many people providing info and streamers accumulating and compiling all of it.

That's a lot of dedication, so thanks to everybody involved. Don't forget to rest though :)

Hardlight, Borealis catalysts should change energy type automatically when hitting shields

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 10:29 AM PST

Neither of these weapons are, well, good. And this change wouldn't exactly make them meta but would boost their functionality massively.

Tower thoughts: If Titans and Warlocks could activate their class ability twice as fast maybe they'd hate Hunters less

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 01:40 PM PST

But now seriously, is there a reason why class abilities for Warlocks and Titans take like 2 to 3 seconds to activate? That's essentially a self inflicted stun. You can die 3 times in that timeframe.

Imo, the activation should be twice as fast. Would surely come in handy in both PvE and PvP.

    Just my 2 cents.

Banshee-44's Weekly "Do 8 Bounties" Powerful Reward should include an Enhancement Prism along with the normal reward.

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 05:09 PM PST

I honestly couldn't care less about getting another Tangled Shore Strides.

What I could care about, however, is the whole reason I'm doing these bounties in the first place. Enhancement Cores.

And sure, it's nice getting an Upgrade Module on the weekly bounties, but when you hit the cap, you start to run out of reasons to use these.

Make it so when we've completed Banshee-44's eight bounties, along with the normal Tier 1 powerful reward, it should also drop 1 enhancement prism. Just a nice something extra to keep a reason behind doing the reward.

After about 50 minutes in the Tribute Hall, I have theorycrafted, successfully tested, and proved a complicated but theoretically infinite Hunter instant auto-reload build for all weapons with Demolitionist.

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 08:40 AM PST

TL;DR and Video Example at the bottom

Primarily, this build focuses on Heretic, the Altar of Sorrow rocket launcher. However, grenade launchers can also still join the party, as Doomsday is the only heavy GL that can roll demolitionist. Shining Sphere, the Iron Banner RL, can also roll the perk.

But because I'd rather eat an entire moon of stinky Shaxx cheese than grind for a Doomsday with Demolitionist, we're just going to assume you're using a rocket launcher. It's better that way.

This build requires Young Ahamkara's Spine and Middle Tree Gunslinger.

Alright, so first, you fire your rocket. Easy enough, right? We like to start out slow and easy here.

But then, throw your tripmine at your target. Think of it as extra damage, so long as you get a hit! But that shouldn't be too hard, since YAS Tripmines come with increased blast radius anyhow.

Now that you've thrown that grenade, your rocket has been automatically reloaded. Handy! You remember what to do on this step, right? Fire that bad boy again. Enjoy the second dose of fireworks, but we're not done here yet.

So now what? Well thanks to those lovely Ahamkara bones strapped onto our biceps, that grenade you threw gave you back 33% grenade energy the moment it made contact. But that's not enough for a full grenade refill, no, we need more. Luckily though, we're Hunters! And Hunters always have a knife!

So go ahead and toss those bad boys too. There's three of them, and each hit gives you back 33% more energy to top your grenade back up from full (so for those curious, yes, you can fully refill your grenade from nothing with a single knife trick throw).

Now that you've thrown your knives, and assuming they found their way into the boss's skull/helmet/chassis/party hat, you just got your full grenade back again! Starting to sense the pattern? Throw that bad boy again, because this is Destiny, and Destiny is all about repeating the same 2 steps a million times over again.

Now that you've thrown your grenade, wowzers, that rocket launcher in your hand has just been reloaded once more! Treat yourself to a third helping of fireworks, you earned it champ.

Now what, I hear you ask? Well luckily that's not all, because us Hunters also have something quite useful called the gambler's dodge. Now assuming you're not perched up on some rock 500 meters away from your target, as tempting as it is to use a rocket launcher as big boomy snipey boi, go ahead and do that amazing acrobatic tumble across the floor.

Poof. Those useful little knives just came back to you again. Crazy how that works, right? Well sadly you won't be able to ask them any questions, because you gotta yeet those clingy fuckers out once more onto your target's lovely face.

33% grenade back from the grenade you threw, and 99% back from the knives, and now you got a grenade in your back pocket once more. Toss her out with the knives, because you're a strong independant Hunter who don't need nobody.

Rocket reloads, so enjoy a fourth field of fireworks, and thanks to 'The Burning Edge', your dodge has already been refilled due to those knives searing their burn into the boss.

Dodge once more, throw knives yet again, and as long as 2 of the 3 connect, you got your grenade back for more auto-loading goodness.

TL;DR for all you lazy Titans who have crayons that need eating.

Using Blade Barrage and Young Ahamkara's Spine...

    1: Fire rocket

2: Throw tripmine, which reloads rocket (and also gives you 33% tripmine energy on hit)

    3: Fire rocket again

4: Throw knife trick, which hits 3 times, completely refilling your grenade for 33% on each hit

5: Throw tripmine, which reloads rocket, and also gives you 33% returns on said tripmine

6: Fire rocket, it's even better a third time!

    7: Dodge, refilling those knives

    8: Throw knives, refilling grenade

    9: Throw grenade, refilling rocket

10: Throw rocket, refilling your-oh fuck, no wait, you might need that, get it back

11: Burning knives have refilled your dodge, so dodge again while the boss is still recoiling from your 4th consecutive rocket, repeat steps 8 through 11 until target is thoroughly ripped a new one.

Disclaimer, I did say this was complex, but I assure you it's 100% real and 100% literally endless non-stop damage every step of the way.

And it's also a lot quicker once you get into the groove of things.

Edit: Thanks /u/Hawkmoona_Matata for the clip!

Don't Let the Peacekeepers Ornament Be a Flop, Please!

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 11:17 AM PST

This might sound completely random and on no one's radar but mine, HOWEVER lol I main Peacekeepers, a Titan exotic that buffs SMGs (for those that don't know. They look like this!)

Anyways I've been waiting for a Peacekeepers ornament since mid-way into Season 1. It's been a struggle haha. If my math is correct we are so close to getting an ornament for these bad boys! We currently get 2 new ornaments per class per season, and only 1 new exotic per class per season. This season we got our first double ornament for Doom Fang Pauldrons, and I'm not complaining cause it was a fire ornament! Well done, Bungie!

Back to my main point and the title of this post. Please, Bungie, don't let the Peacekeepers ornament be a flop! By flop I mean poor aesthetics, or just a simple recolor. Some other exotics got away with a simple recolor because they already looked great and just needed a little sparkle (Dunemarchers, and Lion Rampant). But Peacekeepers are not (exactly) in the same boat.

The main things that need to change with the ornament:

    Change #1: Increase their size.

My main gripe with these exotic boots is that they feel like they were intended for D1, but were saved for D2. Don't get me wrong I'm glad they were saved for D2, but these boots look like I skipped leg day, and all the other guardians bring it up when I land in the tower and it's tiring. (something closer to Dunemarcher's size please)

Change #2: Decrease the mag size.

One of the leading factors that leads me to believe these were meant for D1 is the fact that the mag size on the side looks like it was meant for an autorifle, not an SMG. The thing is freaking huge and would never fit in an SMG. So please let the mag on the ornament actually look like it was intended for an SMG.

Change #3: Make it freakin dope!

A bit of a subjective change, and while I like the simplicity of the base Peacekeepers, it'd be awesome if these looked really really good! I've gathered some images as to what I think might look good, again very subjective, but I'm like the only one on this planet that mains Peacekeepers so I feel like my input matters? idk here they are:

One - I like the layered plates, can lead to some really nice lines.

Two - This one doesn't show the legs that much, but I love the depth in this one. Lots of ins and outs.

Three - Adds a bit of beef to the legs while maintaining a simple look (if that's what you're going for)

Four - Ignoring the female form, these legs add a lot of angular lines and design.

Five - This one is probably my favorite because it's not too noisy, adds girth to the leg, and still looks good. (might be a halo armor set, not sure)

Anyways that's all I wanted to say, rather than remaining silent and hope and pray Bungie makes an awesome Peacekeepers ornament, I thought I'd share what I hope it will look like.

    Thanks for listening! :D

Full Lyrics to "Im on the moon, it's made of cheese" song

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 12:34 AM PST

    [in the key of Shaxx]

    I'm on the moon

    it's made of cheese

    A sight that brings

    me to my knees.

    I'm on the moon

    I'm all alone

    Playing a song

    with my trombone!

    [trombone plays in rhythm]

    I'm on the moon

    the earth above

    as beautiful

    as Mara Sov

[low saxophone plays in the background]

    Oh how I wish

    upon a star

    to hold her near

    and never part!

    [saxophone plays loudly]

    I'm on the moon

    so lost in thought

    whether we wan-

    -ted it or not

    [french horns and tubas intensify]

    We've stepped into

    war with Cabal

    but none of it

    matters at all

[music stops, and a soft flute plays]

    I'm on the moon

    no one's around

    I lay my head

    upon the ground

    [wind chimes]

    Tonight I sleep

    wish me sweet dreams

    I'm on the moon

    It's made of cheese...

No, these are not the real lyrics. In fact, I'm not even sure this song is real at all. But whether we wanted it or not we now have some sort of continuation to it. I went with a more retro jazz tone and kept it super simple like someone swaying to and fro sitting on a porch looking up at the moon singing this song to themselves. Hope you enjoyed it!

If you are in Heroic Blind Well when it's Hive week, PASS THE BALL.

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 09:25 PM PST

This will charge the ball up with enough damage to one shot the immunity shield on the heroic boss. I'm honestly dumbfounded at how many people (I'm looking at you, blueberry with Enlightened yet don't know the most basic PVE mechanics) don't know this ball mechanic.

This also applies to the elevator stage of the Corrupted strike. One pass to a teammate will charge the ball and deal much more damage to enemy shields.

Some Gunsmith package guns like Antiope, Halfdan, and Valkadyn are some of the best feeling guns in the game. Issue is farming for a usable roll that isn’t from y1 is nearly impossible with how big the gunsmith droptable is, how much a gunsmith package costs, and the rng needed to get a good roll.

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 03:30 PM PST

I really don't think they considered the impact random rolls would have on gunsmith packages. The system was designed for static rolls and now random rolls are ridiculously hard to get from banshee. 14000+ gunsmith materials in and all I have to show for it is a solid Halfdan-D and 5 garbage antiopes.

It just feels really bad when these are the last few guns I have to farm, and dedicating yourself to farming these (at best 1 package every 40-60 minutes) makes the issues super visible.

Why is the start of the game now a confusing mess?

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 04:44 AM PST

I've been fairly active since D2 was released and just stuck to the one character pretty much, so hadn't experienced what the game has now become for new players, until yesterday.

I set up cross save so I could play with my gf on PC, played with a practically new character I had created a while ago (and just not played with) and oh wow, even I was confused!

Why have they done away with the original campaign structure? Why can you now access the tower almost immediately? It's only thanks to me that she even knows how to get to the first three campaigns - hidden away in Amanda Holliday's inventory (like wtf?).

This really all seems geared towards veterans of the game who would be more inclined to skip ahead, but surely shouldn't that be an optional thing rather than just how things are? I remember working my way through the first campaign, discovering The Farm and then finally being able to visit The Tower. It was cool and felt like real progress and that you'd achieved something. For my girlfriend however it's just been plonk "you can do everything but we won't tell you how to do any of it, enjoyyy".

Did you all find it to be like this or am I missing something? :P

Edit So seems to be quite a common opinion lol. I must admit though, I made a new character today to make sure I went through the same quests and things as my gf and it is quite a lot less confusing than how it was for me last night - with a noob character, but one that was made before New Light.

The New Light quests do indeed give direction, however it's still all going to be meaningless to a new player and the campaign missions are only very briefly mentioned.

Things made decent sense to me, but that's because I know who said person is and where they are etc. and I think Bungie has made the mistake of making the starter quests from that point of view - knowing where everyone and what everything is already.

Minor/Major/Boss Resist armor Mod stacking test: Stacks, but diminishing returns

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 10:48 AM PST

    The title is the TLDR:
Multiple Resist mods do stack, but with diminishing returns.

Here's results I did from equipping various numbers of mods (from 0 Minor Resist Mods, then 1, then 2, 3, 4 and 5) and allowing a regular red bar Hobgoblin in the Nessus Lost Sector ("The Orrery") to shoot me once with its Line Rifle after each mod change, after clearing out everything else and leaving only that one mob alive.

I used a Hobgoblin's Line Rifle because it fires single, big hits.

This image shows my health bar after one hit from the Vex Line Rifle, with 0 to 5 mods.
    https://imgur.com/a/RJVeKND

In case anyone is wondering, I made sure there was no change in Resilience between the tests, to avoid skewing the results.

Pixel scaling gives us only rough results (since the total health bar length is not a direct multiple of Guardian health+shield HP), so for tiny differences it can either jump one or two entire pixels. So, inaccurately, using health bar pixels alone, this is a rough table:

Minor Resist Mods Damage Reduced (approx)
    0 0%
    1 9.3%
    2 18.5%
    3 24.0%
    4 25.9%
    5 29.6%

When stacked, the reduction is pretty good, as 9+ to 20+ % of damage reduction will clearly allow a player to escape to cover in a situation where they might have died to enemy attacks, especially when going for solo dungeon runs and such.

But I think each player will have to draw their own conclusions about how many mods is worth it.
Purely IMO, either 2 or 3 Resist Mods is the "sweet spot". The 4th and 5th are probably not worth it in most cases.

Don't forget they occupy the first armor Mod slot, which is the same slot as your Mob/Res/Rec/Dis/Int/Str Stat Mods, so you'll want to consider how many of them you're willing to give up for Minor/Major/Boss Resistance.

Note: I left the Hobgoblin alive when I left the Lost Sector after the test. He did good.

How can a ghost projection cost 1,500 bright dust but a shader only 40?

    Posted: 14 Jan 2020 11:58 PM PST

The Red Legion projection on sale for Bright Dust this week costs 1,500 dust. That's over twice as much as a Legendary emote (700); more even than the cost of the armour ornament (1,200). And of course unlocking a shader is almost a steal at only 40.

I simply don't understand the logic here. Is it a pricing error? Or does Bungie really think that ghost projections are that valuable? Do they really take over twice as much effort to produce as a mo-capped dance move?

If you have a lot of Finest Matterweave you can complete them fast at the Leviathan Entrance

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 09:12 PM PST

Just tried to farm precision sniper rifle kills at Embarkment and decided to activate this consumable, it drops up to 5 (average 3) cores per run - 6 Legionares and 2 Colossuses, completed my 150 pretty quickly. I recommend to use sniper so you wont die while consume another Finest Matterweave, then grab all the cores from the floor and load it again.

One of the biggest problems facing Destiny is the Game Engine

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 03:10 PM PST

For those of you who don't know the game engine used by Bungie to create Destiny is the Tiger Engine and it's an upgraded/modified version of the BLAM! engine which was used to create all the Halo games up to Halo 5. This engine was developed in 1999 I believe, which they are technically still using and its age has been showing since the development of Destiny 1.

Seriously this engine is holding them back. Ever wonder why Bungie has been releasing updates and content so slowly it's not only because "making content is hard" but working with a basically 20+ year old engine is also hard. I once heard it takes about 8 or more hours just to boot up a world map for them to make changes. They would have let the computers run and finish rendering overnight and come in the next day to work on it.

I hate to make this comparison because I know they are two different games, heck I don't even play Fornite but they are able to update their game so frequently and easily. I always hear about how they are able to update the game and add all their weird events. Engines like the Unreal Engine are so nice to work with. Even 343 is ditching the BLAM! for their new Slipspace Engine for Halo Infinite.

I feel like Bungie needs to allocate some time, money, and resources for a new Engine at least for Destiny 3 if they do it. Or if possible for D2 if they plan to keep updating D2 for another 3-4 years.

IM A TITAN; DIDNT READ: Bungie is still using a modified version of their old Halo engine to make Destiny and they need to invest in another Engine to ease the development of the Franchise.

If bounties are going to be the primary way of gaining exp, put a bounty master in the menu screen so we don’t have to go to the tower every time we want bounties

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 08:12 PM PST

If we had a bounty master in orbit, collecting and doing bounties wouldn't be nearly as tedious. Everytime daily reset hits or I switch characters I always have to wait to loading into the tower, go all the way to the npc i wanted to collect the bounty from and then start my activity. This makes it especially hard when my friends and I decide to play crucible but all of a sudden want to run strikes but don't have the bounties, so we have to trek all the way to the tower to grab them. This would not be a problem if activities gave exp and not just the bounties but if that won't change, we need a way to grab bounties without going to the tower.
