I don't find myself saying, "You had to be there," so much as, "Eh you're not missing much," to my friends who no longer play.

    Posted: 14 Mar 2020 03:18 PM PDT

I feel like I have fewer and fewer friends that are sticking with this game since each season feels more like a joyless cash grab than the last. Not only is the gameplay loop just an awful bounty simulator, the game has no heart anymore. Every character in the game has be reduce to nothing more than a bounty dispenser. It doesn't feel like anything our guardian does matters. The game just feels hollow.

I know that is this doesn't get downvoted into nonexistence, many people are going to tell me to just play another game. So I'll ask, what other games scratch that Destiny itch for you? I don't like Warframe, and I'm not playing BL3 again unless the introduce cross-save so I can play on PC. But I'm open to anything else. Hoping this is Destiny related enough to not be breaking rule 2 but I guess I'll find out.

Instead of manufacturing 'you had to be there' moments, make content that we want to be there for.

You do NOT need to go flawless to get Trials armor, confirmed by Cozmo

    Posted: 14 Mar 2020 08:07 AM PDT

Here is a link to Cozmo confirming that you do not need to go flawless to get the entire set of armor. Hopefully we can get this to the front page because there are a lot of misinformed people judging by what is currently on there.

Why does it feel like we're in an almost constant state of waiting for the game to *finally* fix itself?

    Posted: 14 Mar 2020 04:23 AM PDT

Between Forsaken and Shadowkeep, each expansion was much smaller in content than the ones in Y1. It was kinda expected as there were three of them as opposed to two, and that they introduced Raids and other activities, but:

    • We still haven't had a proper vendor refresh since this started.
    • The only strikes that have come out since Forsaken are the two from Shadowkeep, and the ones that Playstation already had, which don't count.
    • No actual Campaign Missions.
    • Various other disappointments.

After that, Shadowkeep was teased and we got hyped again. Then it released and now we've got even less content in eah of the new Seasons than in the Y2 DLCs.

We know full well that most content is going away, so of course we're looking at the loot we can earn because we want to get as much as we can out of it when the Season is over. Unfortunately, so far we've had:

    • Pinnacle Weapons replaced with "Ritual" Weapons, then just not being added entirely when this would've been the perfect Season to finally get a sword one.
    • Grind that revolves almost entirely around repetitive Bounties (they're supposed to be supplementary, not the primary source of our XP and stuff!).
    • Already existing armor that we've been asking for finally put back into the loot pool, only to have no seasonal mod slots.
    • An over-dependence on Seasonal mods, to the point where the above situation is an actual travesty.
    • An overreliance on being here "now, right now" to artificially force "you had to be there" moments, when all that does is alienate players too busy to play during said moments.
    • An increasingly predatory approach with Eververse. Each and every Season, 90% of the cool stuff is locked behind a paywall, and our means of getting and spending the pseudo-premium currency known as bright dust is constantly shifting. It's like there's no consistency anymore! Also, remember when the engrams had stuff from the current Season? That was nice.
    • Trials finally came back, but it shafts players on rewards, only allowed to get 3 weapons and 1 armor piece per week, and armor requires flawless, something old trials didn't require. Glows aren't a permanent unlock, the guns can't roll with the reload + damage perk combo everyone loves, there are no adept variants, and the armor can roll with crap stats. Also most Triumphs for the Seal seem to indicate that to get the Flawless title, it has to be done this Season, which is a real middle finger to most players considering that this season already has a limited time Seal, and Trials is a permanent activity.
    • No new Strikes since Shadowkeep.

Now we're in the situation where we're basically wondering when the game will finally fix all of these things. Hey, is is going to happen in Season 11, when things are supposed to finally come to a head? No? Is it going to happen when the fall expansion comes out? Still No? Are the Y4 "Seasons" going to follow this exact same model? Probably?

How's the power grind going to work this whole time? Is it still going to be a repeat of the same crap over and over again that we have to do before we can enjoy any of the new content each season?

What happens when we get to the end of Y4, nothing has changed, and we're left with a game that went stagnant years ago and the only things we have to show for all the time we spent playing it are some weapons that are useless because they've been "sunset", armor that is useless because they can't equip mods for the current season, and Trials gear that can't even glow anymore because the activity went dark again and there were no more opportunities to refresh said glow.

Maybe they'll finally get it right in D2's last Season, but we know full well how that's going to turn out. The darkness ships will finally arrive, blow up the Tower again, we'll lose our shit again, and then it's on to Destiny 3, a game where Bungie will completely ignore all of the lessons they learned when making said final season, fail to implement 90% the QoL changes, and make us re-earn all of our Exotics again.

To any Bungie reps that might be reading this, here are the changes I'd like to see going forward:

    • Less of an emphasis on FOMO and player retention. Stop making players feel like they have to play, all it does is piss people off.
    • If you can't make new permanent content because you're afraid of making the game too big, stop making new "Seasonal activities" and focus that time and energy on improving the content that is already here. Yeah, we got a new Difficulty level in Strikes, but what about adding Medals to the Strike Scoring system like D1 had? What about expanding that Scoring System to all Strikes instead of just Nightfalls like D1 did? What about adding strike-specific loot to the Strikes that don't already have it and move them to the general loot pool and not just Nightfalls like D1 did? And what about Crucible? It still has all of its game types in some sort of rotation! Why!? And Gambit hasn't had any updates at all since Joker's Wild. Forges and the associated Weapon Frame quests still need some QoL improvements, Raid Exotics still don't have true bad luck protection, we still don't have a way of properly replaying campaigns in the way other FPS games do, and we still have no way to recustomize our ugly characters.
    • Stop shoving everything cool into Eververse, especially if it's themed around a place we can already visit, and activity we can already do, or an enemy we can already kill. If there's a Hive-themed ship, I'd like to get it by killing a Hive-themed boss.
    • Give us much more freedom with regards to what weapons we can put Anti-Barrier, Overload, and Unstoppable mods on. Exotics need this desperately. I also think these should be available as permanent unlocks and not part of the seasonal artifact. Also give every armor set a Seasonal Mod Slot.
    • Either change how Power Levels work or ditch them entirely. As someone who has played since launch, Power Level either doesn't matter at all, or it matters in a negative way. It's either not affecting the game at all, or it's actively screwing you. I get that it's how we measure progress in this game, and that without it a lot of the grind is gone, but having done that grind myself so much, I honestly don't think that'd be a bad thing. Some people will insist on keeping it, in which case maybe have us level our "slots" instead of armor pieces?
    • No more talk about "sunsetting" on legendary weapons. It's planned obsolecense and it's considered a really scummy practice in the real world, so it shouldn't fly here. Don't focus on making new weapons better than the old ones, just focus on making them different somehow.

That's all I've got right now.

Bungie, some feedback for you. You guys ABSOLUTELY killed it with the Rasputin Bunker Heavy Frames.

    Posted: 14 Mar 2020 05:04 PM PDT

It's important to say what we don't like but equally important to give feedback on stuff we do like. The Heavy Frames are a complete joy. They are both fun and useful. Those are 2 things that should intersect more often. I can solo the 1000 power level Legendary lost sectors and I'm only 981. The Heavy Frames are a treat to fight along side. Good job to whoever had this idea.

The grind to upgrade 4 bunkers only for them to disappear in 10 weeks is demoralizing at best.

I'm literally trying to decide if I even care enough about the loot to do it... warmind cells seem cool, but i just don't know if I care enough to put myself through the bits grind to fully upgrade every stupid bunker... Are there specific warmind mods tied to each specific bunker? Or can I fully upgrade one bunker and end up getting all the mods from somewhere?

Trials of Osiris is a step in the right direction, but FLAWLESS needs FLAWLESS LOOT

    Posted: 14 Mar 2020 10:23 AM PDT

First off, I wanna focus on the positives. - Trials of Osiris is back. Hooray!! - The armour and weapons are cool. It's recycled sure, but they are cool nonetheless. - The Lighthouse is an awesomely designed destination. - I love the cutscene! - Saint-14 is a fantastic vendor and announcer for it.

    BUT

There's a long way to go to make this the endgame activity for PvP players.

Going flawless should have exclusive rewards. There are no adept weapons to chase. And apparently the armour will be in the passages / token pool on rotation in the future, so there is literally no reason to go to The Lighthouse apart from bragging rights. This is so wrong. Hard-core PvP players need a proper pursuit, and something to show for it. Hopefully this can be improved for future seasons.

Also The Lighthouse should be unlocked all the way until reset for you. Like Destiny 1. In these Trials you only get to visit it once, and that diminishes the rewards for going flawless even more.

To summarise: -Please add adept weapons. -Please add exclusive armour. -Please keep The Lighthouse open until reset.

Being forced to wear a specific emblem for a red glow that you have no choice about is NOT "adept" weapons or armour.

I'm not going to go into the Triumph seal in too much depth, but ideally, this needs reworking also, perhaps given the complexity of raid challenges in my personal opinion (having triumphs associated with all the different passages feels like a missed opportunity in a way). But the seal should also be available to complete until the last Trials of Osiris event occurs instead of being limited to a single season.

    Please and thank you! 🙏

EDIT: Not sure what's happened to my bullet points. Will try to fix the formatting sorry! 😅

EDIT 2: I think ornaments for gear and guns could be an acceptable compromise, since it doesn't affect gameplay. Like the Rise of Iron era ornaments rolled out across the board. Just something to show for actually going flawless would be amazing thank you!

Trials Does Not Have a Loot Problem

    Posted: 14 Mar 2020 10:45 AM PDT

Destiny 2 endgame has a loot problem. I want to communicate this clearly and directly.

Raid weapons and armor are generally lackluster; only a handful of them are particularly strong (Anarchy, Midnight Coup, and . . . .?). Not a single item from either dungeon is particularly noteworthy. Yes, Pit drops a guaranteed masterworked armor piece, but the base stats for that piece is often in the 40s.

All of the posts about high-level, masterworked armor and adept weapons are valid, but it strikes me that perhaps PvP mains are only now noticing what PvE mains have known for a long time.

We need Fatebringers, Genesis Chains, adept versions, all that stuff again. In other words, we need the return of aspirational endgame loot.

It's almost been 2 years since Forsaken was released, and we still don't have catalysts for half of the weapons that were released then.

    Posted: 14 Mar 2020 02:25 PM PDT

12 exotic weapons released with forsaken (13 of you count thunderlord), and of those weapons, 4 of them have catalysts.

Like, seriously? The catalysts that we've gotten aren't bad at all. Ace and Cerberus were pretty nice, lumina catalyst helps support players do their job more effectively and easily, and black talon catalyst is a better now that swords got revamped. But lumina wasn't even from forsaken, and neither was izanagi, and yet that got its catalyst 2 seasons after it was released.

Just because Tommy's, Symmetry and Eriana's were seasonal exotics you basically had to pay for to finish their quests doesn't mean that other season exotics shouldn't have catalysts. Why doesn't devil's ruin and leviathan's breath have catalysts? (I know it's still possible to get, same with bastion.)

When I start a new trials run and the first game is a loss and it says "team has completed flawless run" I just question wtf is bungie doing with matchmaking.

    Posted: 14 Mar 2020 07:33 AM PDT

Seriously you should never play a 6 win team your first game, ever. I can't believe we still have these matchmaking issues this long into the game. I know im going to get down voted but whatever, this discourages people from even playing trials and places them against people who aren't even comparable in light level or skill. Fix your matchmaking already bungie, this is ridiculous.

    Posted: 14 Mar 2020 11:03 AM PDT

How could a 500 staff AAA studio like Bungie develop little to no content in 3~4 months? The answer is simple: there's only a few amount of developers working on destiny 2 right now.

If this season's launch say something, is that the cadence of content will only get worse. There is literally no justification for the way the content is being produced at this pace and drip-fed to us like this.

EDIT: Take for instance Battlefront 2: the few dozens developers working on the game managed to put content every month. New maps, new heroes, new classes, reworks. They have a fraction of the manpower Bungie have, even so, they managed to put WAY more content than destiny 2 in the past 6 months.

An evolving world should be seen in its enemy design

    Posted: 14 Mar 2020 10:22 AM PDT

First of let me say this. Some of these ideas are pretty weird but I feel like if destiny is supposed to be an evolving world we should see that in our everyday gameplay, not just seasonal events. The effects our guardians have had on the solar system should be seen and felt in 'average' gameplay. This could be done by reworking the enemy design. Now each of these suggestions could be a season worth of content (And work for Bungie) but I just couldn't get these ideas out of my head.

    Cabal:

These should have a big rework. The red legion has been utterly thrashed across the system. Their record of never knowing defeat has been shattered this has been happening for two years now. We should see these effects in how they fight. They should be desperate, scrambling for any small victory. Upon contact with a guardian Legionaries should immediately flee and fall back to a Centurion or Colossus. Perhaps they have small camps with Scorpio turrets and mines in a desperate attempt to keep you away.

Their losses should reflect in their fighting as well. Without supplies perhaps their weapons have begun to malfunction and they've been forced to augment themselves with Fallen or Human weaponry, this would make them unpredictable and with various combinations, every encounter could be different. A colossus could use an old human mortar to blanket the field in fire from afar or use modified scorch cannons to force you to keep moving or try to hunker down. I feel like War Beasts could become highly versatile. In a desperate move Cabal could strap different types of munitions to War Beasts and have them charge you, with different colors as tells the player would have to adapt and prioritise. Perhaps this could lead to a quest or adventure where you save a War Beast, tame it and with an exotic armor piece tag enemies for it to attack, distract or debuff (Each class would have their war beast do something different), I dunno just spitballing.

    Taken:

As far as we know the Taken are now commanded by Savathun. Her personality and quirks should be reflected in how we interact with them. They should be cunning and deceiving. Taking (Get it) a note from the Trickster, they should lure us into traps. Upon encountering a group of Taken thrall they should fall back after sustaining losses but it's a feigned retreat. Around the corner waits a taken captain and ogre who blind and punish your aggressive push.

This could be used to create strikes that force the player to examine the battlefield and figure out what might be waiting instead of rushing ahead. (This could still be an option but would be more difficult.) Perhaps being an invisible hunter would allow you to scout ahead or evade their traps.

We could also do with new taken units. A Taken cyclops that can tag you if they hit you, highlighting you for all nearby taken to focus on. A Taken chieftain that with their totems can either resurrect killed taken/buff the damage of nearby taken/or spill taken miasma on the field forcing movement from the player.

The idea for my Taken rework is to make them reflect their new leader. Make them cunning, make them use traps, make them lure us into a false sense of security when fighting them. This could lead to a strike based around chasing a taken target and upon killing them a trap is sprung that forces the player to escape a horde of different taken enemies. This mission/strike can have multiple endings and rewards. If you stay and kill all the enemies Eris will praise you and you'll be rewarded by her with strike exclusive loot while Zavala will chastise you for your foolishness. If you follow Zavala's orders and escape he'll congratulate you with escape and reward you with a strike exclusive weapon or armor piece while Eris will be disappointed that they missed an opportunity to learn more about the Taken.

    Fallen:

The Fallen are a tricky one. We haven't really had anything major happen to them recently other than the House of Light and I think that should be the focus of their rework. I feel like this would be one of the biggest and most important. Mithrax should be a vendor out in the EDZ, perhaps he moves between Fallen lost sectors and with him, you can go on missions together or with his house to take over Fallen lost sectors, establishing outposts that can aid you in battle during public events or just out in the world. This would come with new fallen themed armor and weapons.

Perhaps if you do enough missions for Mithrax and prove to the Vanguard that he can be trusted Fallen might move to the Farm. (This would also encourage people to come to the farm to see the fruits of their labors.) Here you would see people and fallen working together building, repairing and patrolling together. This could lead to something big, over the course of a season perhaps you'd hear people in the tower/city talking about how the fallen are living with people on the farm. Eventually, we'd have to confront Saint-14 about this and convince him that Mithrax and the house of light can be trusted. Maybe we go on a mission where Mithrax helps/saves Saint.

I just wanna incorporate the story of Mithrax into the world and use his character and motivations to demonstrate the idea of not just an evolving world but in the case of Saint-14 and the vanguard, evolving characters. Something this big of course wouldn't just be an AI or unit update but a full season or even expansion.

    Hive:

In Shadowkeep we learned that some of the Hive are, in a perverse way, envious of us and wish to imitate our power. We also learn that some of the Hive are trying to resurrect Oryx. I feel like these two factions should fight. One wanting to preserve the Sword Logic and one trying to change it. (We'll call them Loyalists and the Restorationists) We could see armies of Thrall fighting on the moon's surface, in the pit of heresy and in the scarlet keep with each faction holding a different position. These positions would change. The Loyalists, seeing the others as truly heretical would rather see the other faction beaten that kill us. So there could be moments where it seems we are fighting with the Hive, only to turn around and kill them the moment we can of course.

The Restorationists, on the other hand, could be led by Nokris. A perfect way to bring back a wasted character. As a necromancer, he could bring back dead enemies and I'm talking proper zombies. Zombies Fallen and since we're on the moon. Zombie guardians. This could make for some great moments where you'd be fighting the Hive and suddenly a disfigured guardian rushes you. The lore potential with Eris and any lost characters is limitless. This idea of a Hive civil war is messy but I feel like there is a diamond in there.

My experience with the Seraph Tower Public Event so far is effectively "hope you get instanced with enough people to actually play it".

    Posted: 14 Mar 2020 05:17 AM PDT

Was kind of excited for it, until I played it. Ads have more health, yellow bar enemies are there too, and full blown bosses spawn that take several people's worth of constant concentrated fire to kill, all while barely ever getting staggered.

And then I'm forced to use SMG's to fight Champions, while also having to use "Seventh Seraph" weapons to play off my armor mods, of which the only one i have is the exotic (if it counts) and it genuinely sucks.

If you were going to make the public event this hard, why not just make it a Strike-type fireteam of 6 mission like the Vex and Sundial, that way I'm not completely beholden to just having enough people to actually play the event?

And that's not even getting into the "Now go do a 1,000 Light/Power level mission where everything can borderline one-shot you" part. I have literally zero motivation to play anything related to this season because it's such a sheer cliff to climb.

Also, I hate bounties. Always have, always will. They turn the game into a chore.

    Por que, Bungie?

This Season and Trials feels like a last minute assignment that was completed the night before it's due.

    Posted: 14 Mar 2020 03:20 PM PDT

I think a lot of time was spent thinking about what font to use and then the rest feels like it was thrown together at the last minute:

Bungie: "Oh shit! The new season starts tomorrow? I was too busy working on other things. I kinda forgot about this assignment so let's throw in a bunch of bounties, get a space ship to crash in to the earth, toss in a escalation protocol/forge thing, and what else? Trials!!! We've been thinking about that for over a year! Hurry, let's slap that together real quick and sprinkle some mediocre loot in there."

I've turned in some doozies before due date and bullshitted my way through. It works, but hey, it was only $10 right? Can't really hold too high of an expectation.

The “you had to be there” moments have always been here, in the form of events like laser tag weekend, the first completion of last wish, the whisper being discovered and outbreak being discovered, most of those things have something in common, they’re still here for new players to do.

    Posted: 14 Mar 2020 08:26 PM PDT

I guarantee anyone who was there when the whisper was discovered remembers it, same for outbreak, laser tag weekend, and when the wolves ran wild in iron banner. THOSE are the kind of "you had to be there" moments we like because when our new friend asks:

"hey how'd you get that sick sniper rifle"

    we can say

"oh it's from this AWESOME MISSION that you and I should do!"

It's not fun when it goes like this:

"hey how's you get that cool sidearm?"

"Oh it's from a mission you can't do anymore"

So yeah the you had to be there moments have always been here and they were pretty nice.

Constantly being kicked out of server/other errors (PC)

    Posted: 14 Mar 2020 07:44 AM PDT

This problem is already known, but today has been beyond ridicilous for me:

    - Logging in on morning and trying to get to Tower, three disconnects. After that tryna talk to Spider, FIVE disconnects. When I finally got to Spider I was ready to kick his teeth in.

    - Finally being able to play, few disconnects but managed to do what I wanted.

    - Finally having a decent group at Seraph Tower: Kicked out from server, then game crashed. New try, kicked out from server immediately. New try, kicked out from server after five seconds. Now I've had it and I make this post.

    - Also you have to quit the game through task manager because why not.

I have never, ever had a single disconnect or being kicked out from server before, not to mention whole game crashing.

I hate this. Make it stop.

Edit: I can't get to EDZ Seraph Tower at all. I take few steps, the game kicks me out from the server non stop.

Literally nobody likes drip-fed content in a game like Destiny

    Posted: 14 Mar 2020 04:01 AM PDT

It makes it worse when the drip-fed content isn't even good.

So so sick of having mediocre content being released regularly as opposed to fantastic content being released semi regularly WITH some of the style of content we're receiving now, in between. while at the same time, they change aspects of the game we never asked to be changed, and ignore the ones we want changed.

I feel so severely disappointed by this season and the past few that i can't put it into words. There's just so much i'd say to Luke Smith if he were right in front of me that it would probably be around two pages long... It's okay defending Bungie's actions based on what they're SAYING will be looked at, when the core experience has been neglected for months now, with no action being taken on some of the most broken aspects of the game.

everything feels so linear and samey that at this point i may aswell be playing a mobile game. If i have faith an expensive expansion will be good, i'll buy it, but i feel like the main difference between what we had in D1 and what we have now is:

All the content we get is shown to us before it's released, and no other meaningful or fulfilling content is released alongside it. Due to the seasonal model, we get this style of release very often.

I would love to dig in to an expansion with some previews of what's to come, aswell as some cool little extras i can get on my own terms on the side.

People are buying seasons expecting them to be more than they actually are, and a large portion of the playerbase is being disappointed by it, myself included.

Please, Bungie, for the sake of the game, Ditch Eververse, and make us pay for something we actually want to pay for. Take the leap of faith, i promise it will be worth it.

EDIT: Apologies for the generalising title. i understand some of you prefer drip fed content, but the vast majority of people who love the FRANCHISE, and not just the GAME, do not.
