    Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding 'Season of Dawn In Review' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

    Radar Booster decreases radar range

    Posted: 08 Mar 2020 03:22 PM PDT

So I was testing some of the less used mods trying to find something useful. I thought radar booster would be great to pair with Knucklehead Radar. I go to the Tribute Hall to test how much it increases the radar range, and to my surprise, it ends up decreasing the range of my radar as seen here.

I didn't find anyone else talking about this, so I thought I should post this here.

Can we get bright dust by doing what we want and not just doing strikes, crucible, and gambit?

    Posted: 08 Mar 2020 05:17 AM PDT

if i could get maybe like 5 to 10 bright dust for completing a forge or doing some other activities, it would truly be Play to Win. The current way to earn bright dust just feels like weekly chores.

edit: Or rather, its Play to Earn. I dont quite remember exactly how Luke Smith worded it before

    submitted by /u/TheJudSub
    [link] [comments]

This season we only got 400 Bright Dust from the season pass. 400. The season pass should provide enough for at least 1 exotic Emote, Ship, Sparrow, or Ghost.

    Posted: 08 Mar 2020 12:24 AM PST

    Pretty much the title.

Given how rare bright dust currently is... This would be a nice QoL especially for those who can't always be playing this game (work, etc)

    For clarification:

I know you can get 1,200 a week per character if you do the weeklies (Crucible/Vanguard/Gambit). Which is about 14,400 per season (most people stick to the 1 character). That is probably enough to get you 3-5 exotic Emotes.

FYI Bungie when Xivu Arath gets her time to shine as a primary antagonist she needs an introduction as badass as Oryx blasting the rings of Saturn

    Posted: 08 Mar 2020 07:22 PM PDT

Xivu Arath is the Hive god of War and Destruction. A force as raw as her needs to show up with an incredible display of force. Now you can't just have her blow up the city because Ghaul already tried that so I've got an idea.

When Xivu arrives in the Solar System she's gotta turn Pluto into a War Moon as her main base of operations.

Ascendant shards still need more sources

    Posted: 08 Mar 2020 12:48 PM PDT

It's been talked about a fair amount, but with the pinnacle drops getting more sources, I thought I'd bring it up again.

I must preface this by saying I'm a solo player, so I never play master nightfalls. I know people will say "well, just start playing with a fireteam" but that's such bs that we should be forced to play with others in order to simply have access to something as necessary as ascendant shards. That being said, there are plenty of people who would agree that they get bored with the repetitive strike grinding.

With the optional armor element changes coming next season, shards are going to become much more useful. It's going to be a pain in the ass when I have to use my petty 3 shards that I get from the season pass just to change the elements of some God rolled armor from previous seasons that I already masterworked (not to mention the pain it would be to change a single exotic's element). All I ask is for a couple different sources, whether they take hours to grind or days.

Some solutions to this could be valor and infamy resets (although I see the potential problems with these), flawless in trials, or even a single weekly gunsmith bounty that takes time to complete.

I know I'm not alone in wanting a new source for the golf balls, so almost anything would be nice to see.

If you need to clean your vault for Season of the Worthy, make sure to do it before tuesdays reset

    Posted: 08 Mar 2020 02:54 PM PDT

Because right now we still get an additional legendary shard from dismantling items, and next season you'll have to wait until you're season pass rank 20 (or 24?) again to get the perk for an additional shard.

In my English class we had to write a sonnet, so I wrote one about Cayde

    Posted: 08 Mar 2020 04:53 PM PDT

    A Sonnet For Cayde-6 ♠️

You were the sun in my solar system

Your charm and wit enamored everyone

I was just going with to assist him

He's gone now, killed with his very own gun

His legacy ended, his debt unpaid

The beloved cannon with the killer

His kind would typically be remade

    I voyage into lands unfamiliar

I make unlikely allies for a price

To aid me in hunting our enemy

Like you always did I must roll the dice

To reclaim the object of your identity

The time has come your precious gun in hand

Time to end the mad prince's reign of this land

Can we get different pools for legendary engrams available from rahool?

    Posted: 08 Mar 2020 09:13 AM PDT

The legendary engram pool is already bloated. It's going to get a lot worse next season. Can rahool sell different types of legendary engrams that have smaller pools so it would be easier to Target the item(s) we are looking for?

A Gift for one of my closest Fireteam Members: The Necrochasm.

    Posted: 08 Mar 2020 09:53 AM PDT

One of my close friends adores the Necrochasm. It's his favorite weapon; and he was sad to see his destroyed in the old tower vaults. I see him sifting through the wreckage for it often. Hunter's get attached to those sorts of things I suppose.

I may not be able to replace his; but space magic is something I know a thing or two about. He's a good friend to me, and he hasn't fought with nearly as much heart without his old gun.

So I stole away to the old cosmodrome, pryed this Husk of the Pit from a Knight's cold, dead hands and nurtured it into an Eidolon Ally. With some blood, sweat and tears (and perhaps some Crux of Crota I kept in a small jar as a keychain..), The Necrochasm was reborn once more.

I hope he likes it, it glows in the dark!

TIL the game described in the lore entry "The Flower Game" is based on John Conway's "Game of Life", a PC game from the '70s.

    Posted: 09 Mar 2020 12:34 AM PDT

    Link to lore.

Rule One. A living flower with less than two living neighbors is cut off. It dies.

Rule Two. A living flower with two or three living neighbors is connected. It lives.

Rule Three. A living flower with more than three living neighbors is starved and overcrowded. It dies.

Rule Four. A dead flower with exactly three living neighbors is reborn. It springs back to life.

The only play permitted in the game is the arrangement of the initial flowers.

Link to Conway's Game of Life wikipedia page and link to Game of Life website.

    The Rules

For a space that is 'populated':

    • Each cell with one or no neighbors dies, as if by solitude.

    • Each cell with four or more neighbors dies, as if by overpopulation.

    • Each cell with two or three neighbors survives.

Fun fact, for those that didn't know.

Edit: reading further, there are several references to the patterns listed on the wikipedia page.

Though it has only four rules, and the board is a flat featureless grid, in it you will find changeless blocks, stoic as iron, and beacons and whirling pulsars, as well as gliders that soar out to infinity, and patterns that lay eggs and spawn other patterns, and living cells that replicate themselves wholly.

Gliders, Beacons, and Pulsars are all patterns found in the game.

Bungie Please: Re-think how you define "weapon balance".

    Posted: 08 Mar 2020 11:19 PM PDT

Since the very beginning of Destiny you've talked about "re-balancing weapons" without telling us exactly what you mean by that.

In my mind, a balanced weapon system means that each weapon archetype is just as effective at their ideal range as any other archetype.

So for example, a sniper rifle that kills something with a single headshot at super long range is just as effective as a shotgun killing something with a single trigger pull at super close range, with everything in between being, well, in between. Balanced. Outside their range, a sniper should be just as ineffective at, say, melee range, as a shotgun is at super long range.

The problem, as near as I can tell, is that this is not what YOU mean by weapon balancing.

It feels like your definition of balance is based on how much or how little an archetype is used by the players, so for season 9 you buff sniper rifles, sniper rifle usage goes up, season 10 you decide sniper rifles are over-used and therefore out of balance, so you eliminate the buff that made them popular in the first place. That's purely guesswork on my part because you've never told us how you define "weapon balance".

You have to realize how inconsistent that makes you look to the players. "How dare they enjoy using the buff we added to that weapon??!? Take it away!"

Here's an idea for your testing team:

Take away all the nerfs and buffs and figure out how much damage you want each archetype to do at their ideal range and outside their ideal range. Melee Distance, Short Range, Medium Range, Long Range, Super Long Range. Some guns may overlap, Scouts from medium to long, Fusions from short to medium.

Then design encounters around the weapons and singes you want to be used. No buffs or nerfs needed. Leave it to the players to figure out what weapons and singes are effective for which encounters.

If you want short range weapons to be used, you design an encounter like the Core Terminus lost sector on Mars, all narrow corridors and tight corners. Snipers and scout rifles aren't as effective here because you don't have nice, clear, long lines of sight. Shotguns, hand cannons, fusion rifles, sidearms and swords are all ideal.

Some of the Menagerie encounters are the same, The Riposte for example optimized for Hive sword use. You don't want a sniper on that level because it's literally useless.

At the same time, if you want to emphasise long range weapons, look at something like the Xol boss fight at the end of Will of the Thousands. It rewards the use of snipers, rocket launchers and the Valkyrie, but short to medium range weapons are still of use on the adds, even though they do jack crap against Xol.

I'm sure someone more versed in PvP can give you PvP examples. I don't really play PvP. I do know that some maps don't really have sniper lanes and encourage swords and shotguns. Other maps, you get murdered if you don't bring a sniper.

TL;DR You don't need to nerf or buff certain weapons to get players to stop or start using them, you need to better design encounters around the archetypes and singes you want players to use.

If you start with the idea of "OK, for this encounter we want solar weapons and snipers" and design around that, the players will follow.

The ahamkara are NOT extinct. They are simply mostly exterminated inside the Sol System.

    Posted: 08 Mar 2020 02:07 PM PDT

They aren't from the sol system, they came here from elsewhere in the galaxy. And it's mentioned in the lore.

The hive hate the ahamkara because they, much like their gods, are paracausel/Wyrms(worms/dragons/Whatever), which means the hive have encountered them elsewhere before coming to the Sol system.

So this means, if bungie wanted to, they could have a new great hunt start.

Give Anti-Champion Bonuses to Underperforming and Underused Exotic Weapons

    Posted: 08 Mar 2020 12:06 PM PDT

Many exotics, particularly primaries, are overshadowed by legendaries with seasonal mods available to them. Many people would like to see some of these exotics be able to compete in activities such as the Ordeal and Raids, and some people have even suggested that exotics should have a mod slot. While I think that is a possible solution, I don't think it is the best solution, as in my view of the game, exotics are meant to feel like a fully curated weapon with everything built in, and if we got anti-champion mods for snipers, Izanagi just gets stronger, thus creating power creep.

What I would suggest is that underperforming exotics get a new pass, for new content, where anti-champion mods are simply integrated. Some examples:

    Ace of Spades:

    • Memento Mori and Firefly stagger unstoppable champions.

Notes: Ace of Spades is good in PvP, but definitely lacks in high end PvE content, like many weapons on this list.

    Borealis:

    • When Ionic Return is active, the weapon gains anti-barrier rounds.

    Riskrunner:

    • When Arc Conductor is active, shots and chain lightning disrupt targets.

Notes: The weapon is overloaded with arc energy, so it just makes sense.

Notes: Borealis is a strong weapon undeniably, but for PvE content, it is usually overshadowed by the likes of Izanagi and Divinity, and really brings little to the table except being able to pop elemental shields. This would let it pop elemental shields and then give forgiveness against Barrier Champions, which you don't get with Izanagi/Divinity.

    Skyburner's Oath:

    • Make it effective against all cabal champions.

Notes: Skyburner's is probably one of my favorite weapons, but even I can see it is simply just lacking. Making it effective against all cabal Champions creates a niche for it.

    Sturm:

    • Sturm overcharge disrupts targets. Effective against Overload Champions.

Notes: Sturm has gotten a good deal of buffs to overcharge damage, but the Sturm/Drang combo definitely needs a spot in endgame content.

    Vigilance Wing:

    • When last resort is active (last guardian standing), this weapon becomes effective against all champions.

Notes: Would you risk taking on a champion alone, or resurrect your teammates? It at least gives it a place in an admittedly niche situation, but it is something.

This list is not comprehensive and open to other ideas. Thoughts?

I'd be a very happy crayon eater if we can have this faction system back

Bungie, please make armor numbers go over 100?

    Posted: 08 Mar 2020 05:19 PM PDT

I am not talking about getting higher start points, but the total showing whatever the raw number is instead of just 100 as the cap. It is difficult to try and swap out armor because you have to guess the number. This is compounded because only every 10 points count.

As an example I have 100 something mobility and the armor I want to change has 4 less mobility stats. I swap it out and I'm still 100 on mobility. Then I change to a different armor piece 20 mobility lower. It shows 94 mobility now. I wish it just said 114 or whatever the actual number is so that if my mobility is 114 and I see the alternate armor I want is 10 less mobility I don't have to keep guessing and swapping out pieces.

Being able to reallocate the 12 masterworked stat points.

What if when we masterwork an exotic piece of armor, we are able to take those 12 points and spread them across all stats however we want in order to deal with those annoying stats we may have that are nearing a tenth (like my 97 recovery or my 69 discipline)?

    Thoughts?

Also, exotic armor should have a seasonal mod for ALL seasons, but that may be asking too much...
