    MARS

"I'm willing to overlook your past."

Crimson light quivers, exhales, and surges in waves across bedrock walls at quickening tempo. Deified machination ripples in judgement.

"Trust doesn't come easily with you." Osiris's eyes wash in Warmind light. He remembers Saladin's words. Remembers the names that were. He feels small again, against the wash. Alone.

Osiris feels the weight of Rasputin's assessment. Rhythmic cipher crashes over him as displays sling projections into maddening motion. Osiris's face splits into golden multitudes to consume the information. Eyes in all directions, searching for the path. Rasputin constructs a model of the system, highlighting an anomalous signal near the edge of Sol's influence. Osiris's mind sieves the data into manufactured purpose.

    He is led.

    Never one to follow.

    With nothing left to chase.

Oxidized dust scours the landing pad. Sagira greets Osiris as he exits the bunker and slumps into his jumpship.

    "How did it go?"

    "Better than expected."

"Did you say hi to Ana?"

"She is busy. We have a lead."

Osiris grips the flight stick. His gaze slips betwixt and between points of focus.

"Do we have to leave right now?" Sagira floats into his sightline. "I'm sure Saint woul—"

    Their eyes don't meet.

    "We have a long flight."

Sagira relents. Her tone sharpens. "How long?"

    KUIPER-OORT EXPANSE

    ||KUIPER SLINGSHOT ACHIEVED: COURSE CORRECTION; NEGATIVE; BREAK LINE TRAJECTORY FAILURE||

    ||ALERT: GRAVITATIONAL ANOMALY: BOW||

Solar warmth peels away into guideless vacuum as Osiris skims across the Heliopause. A hollow serenity bathes his face.

    "What is it?"

Osiris breathes a sigh of relief at the sight of the anomaly.

    "An answer."

"I… feel strange." Sagira settles from her orbit about Osiris's shoulders, her voice crackling with interference.

"It might be best if you stay with the ship."

"It might be best if you had better ideas."

Osiris grunts under his breath and cuts the engines. "I won't be long."

    |COURSE CORRECTION;NEGATIVE;BREAK LINE TRAJECTORY FAILURE||

"That's never true." Sagira scans the warping stillness. "There's nothing in there, Osiris."

    "No reason to worry then."

Sagira narrows her iris at him. "I can't even find a point to transmat you to."

    "No matter."

"What?" Sagira faces the anomaly. "What are you trying to prove?"

Osiris affixes a visor to his helmet and clips a localizing beacon to his belt. With a hiss, his head swims in pressurizing atmosphere.

"It has to lead somewhere." His helmet radio vies with interference.

Sagira droops in disappointment. "Does it?"

He looks through her, eyes sullen and heavy. He nods.

A great Maw yawns before them, wicked and soft. Brilliant unfurling layers of opaque invitation. They drift. The Deep comfort hums through his skin, breeding a resilient calm. A silent static stasis boiling away at the brim of consciousness.

    ||COLLISION ALERT: BOW | COURSE CORRECTION;NEGATIVE;COLLISION IMMINENT||

The Anomalous Maw welcomes. It is a gullet, endless in hunger and depth that splits reality like petals opening to consume the Sun. The depth warps. Sweet flavor spins through the senses. It cradles him, locks in motionless descent, rocks away fear with warm recognition. Stretches, and wraps, and cribs.

    ||COLLISION ALERT: STARBOARD;BOW;ABEAM;RADIAL;AFT;BOW;ABEAM;PORT:AFT;RADIAL;PORT:BOW | COURSE CORRECTION: NEGATIVE;TRAJECTORY FAILURE;COLLISION: FAILURE||

It threads through space set adrift beyond and before, until there is only within. Within: a point. Lone and stark amid the undulating expanse. Distant, at the edges, and forward, only deeper.

Osiris a wayfaring witness. A reluctant heir. A broken promise made true. A husk to fill a throne of sustenance. A shear to prune the vine. A warden to vacancy. A mind elated and crestfallen. A sojourner of meaning ever seeking.

He turns back. Sagira's light blinks from shaded canopy within his vessel. Starless bends weave and break through pools of luminescent memory. They flow to the point beyond.

The point grows gaunt, and if he were to reach out, he would brush the walls with his fingertips. Osiris stands in dark quiet comfort. He treads placid trim. He swims in depth lined by pale rivers of white gnashing, far below and above.

He sends forth his Echoes. Their sight finds no purchase in the gullet. They push the walls beyond his fingers and let stand only the path of want. They drift until no longer felt. The skeins neither snap nor remain.

Before him, the gnarled point softens and splits into a blooming cathedra. A metal seed laid barren in the bosom of the throne in a pool of light. A nexus. He plucks it from the pool. From its drippings spawn a rapturous light, spreading through the enormity and ravenously washing over the gullet at increasing pace.

Dark gives way to cold reflective alloy.

    To logic and formless calculous.

The cathedra, overwhelmed by prediction, rings with the dull mimicked tone of congruence. They scream to Osiris. His mind. They crave, never to tire, his unique causality. They would grow, unceasing. Death to death, forever.

The path of want falls to assimilation.

Osiris flees to the safety of Sagira's blinking light. The gullet quivers reverberation that trails his every step in sentient chromic glisten. He calls for her. To open the ship. To break the false-light wave that besets his every step. To—

"I'm glad you changed your mind."

Sagira's shell shines a reflection across the cockpit as Osiris's jumpship rolls to face the Sun. "Ready to go?"

    ||KUIPER SLINGSHOT JUMP-LOCK: TRAJECTORY CLEAR; GREEN LINE||

"Sagira…" He grips a cold metal seed. "Yes."

The Sun hangs dim and distant in a sea of ink. Its waning glare burns the focus out of Osiris's eyes. Blind to all other points, they drift; engines humming in anticipation; vessel drenched in an angular shadow.

Our rules will still be enforced here, with the (hopefully obvious) addition of NO SALT ALLOWED. And remember, keep it related to Destiny.

(Note: This does NOT mean that salt-free posts are to be relegated here. Only that salt isn't allowed in this Megathread.)

Bungie, the P2W you have added to this game is simply unacceptable.

    Posted: 28 Feb 2020 06:57 PM PST

Bungie has been employing a marketing tactic called "anchoring", which is the idea where your players want you to do X (no artifact in trials) but you announce you're going to do the way worse Y (artifact in trials), knowing it will upset the player base, then you say you're going to do a less crazy Y called Z (no artifact power in trials, yes to mods in trials, eventually will cap artifact power in trials) that won't be as good as X but will make the player base happy because at least it ain't Y, and will distract them from other ongoing issues.

One of those issues has seeped into the game and I think everyone was distracted by Trials of Osiris so much that they didn't realize it.

Bungie has added severe P2W to the game, and it's unacceptable.

I am, of course, talking about the expensive Cowbell emote. Not only does it cost an extreme amount of Bright Dust, but it's P2W.

I conducted a study of over 300 Gambit rounds and an additional 100 Gambit Prime matches, all solo to maximize my testing.

My findings were that in any round where 2 random teammates joined in and Cowbelled with me, we would win the game. Any round where 2 random teammates did not join me in Cowbelling, we would lose.

The emote single handed helps you know if you will win or lose because it is at its core the ultimate test of knowledge and teamwork, and if your random players will not join in you can take solace in the fact that you will lose because the teamwork is simply not there. You might as well dodge if they fail to help you cowbell.

If this item was freely available to everyone with no grind, I would understand. But it takes weeks and hundreds of bounties or tons of money to even buy this emote, granting some players a massive advantage.

I truly miss when this game was perfect and had no flaws and everyone was happy with the seasonal activity, during Season of the Drifter.

Trials of Osiris: The Gentleman’s Agreement

    Posted: 28 Feb 2020 09:08 AM PST

For those who remember Trials of Osiris from Destiny 1, you might recall the gentleman's agreement that was formed regarding heavy ammo: if all the players in a match waved as heavy was spawning, an agreement was made between both teams that no one would pick up heavy.

As the game progressed, this was implemented as an actual in game mechanic that would remove heavy ammo from the round. Now we don't know if they'll make heavy ammo spawn in like comp(I.e. once a round every round) but some traditions are worth keeping around, and this one is personally one I'd like to see come back.

Edit: For those who don't remember this being a thing/don't think this was a thing: https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/45464/7_Destiny-Update---12132016

I have created a free Xur iOS app without ads :)

    Posted: 28 Feb 2020 06:47 AM PST

    Hello there Guardians,

I got tired of annoying popup ads and ads for recov services when trying to figure out where Xur is on my phone. So today i am happy to announce that i have created:

Find Xur - a free iOS app without any ads what so ever (Android coming soon).

I am really eager to hear some feedback on what you guys think, and ideas for further improving the app.

Last year i also created Xur Wiki and @Xur on twitter. I have used these projects to get familiar with the Bungie API. My end goal is to create a build manager that lets you save your favourite load outs and organise them so that you can easily equip your favourite builds when starting a new activity. You can categorise your builds by Raid, raid encounter, pvp mode / map and so on.

But for now: Find Xur on iOS, free and no ads! Hope you like it :)

UPDATE: Wow! Thank you so much, i did not expect such a huge response like this! In the great spirit of Destiny i encountered server issues on launch, but it should all run smooth now (Just like Destiny?🤔). Anyways, if you like the app i would be super happy if you would take the time to write a short review in the app store.

UPDATE 2: To everyone on Android asking for ETA on the Android version. I am targeting a open beta, and then full release Friday 20. March 2020. (I refuse to launch on Friday 13. for several reasons 😅)

[Seeking Financial Advice] I put my life savings into Fractaline due to some bad advice. Now that Spider's Materials Exchange market is crashing, I don't know what to do. Please help.

I'm scared. I have no glimmer to my name, but over 5000 shards. I have a ghost to feed and winter is still very cold. Any advice would be great.

[Edit] hey guys that above was the old me. I no longer have time for this poverty peasantry. I'm now at Max glimmer, and knee deep in tendies. I'm also starting my Financial Freedom speaking tour with Jake Paul.

    Peace.

[Edit] I'm at the Empty Tank on Tangled Shore, making it rain. Surely this uptick will continue with the Materials Exchange tomorrow. I'm sure of it.

[Edit] we're doing lines of fallen ether off of a shank's butt crack! Get in here!

Removing artifact power from trails makes pinnacle drops actually important for the first time ever

    Posted: 28 Feb 2020 04:17 AM PST

Hey Destiny community. First time poster.

I've been reading alot of the commentary on Twitter before and after the artifact level announcement from Luke yesterday. I see most people celebrate the fact that artifact level will be removed.

I also see a select few argue against it. I suspect most of these people are simply being contrarians. But, at least one argument is that "increasing artifact power encourages people to play all aspects of the game and taking that away means pvp players have no reason to engage with the rest of the content. Way to cave into the vocal minority, bungo." Or, something to this effect.

While I don't ascribe to this sentiment, it made me think and I came to a realization about this change that I have yet to see anyone else mention yet.

PINNACLE DROPS are going to be extremely saught after again!

It seems like everyone has forgotten that pinnacle drops are even a thing, and rightly so. A lot of people, myself included, have had absolutely no reason to engage with pinnacle content like raids, nightfalls, dungeons, and nightmare hunts this season because there is no content in the game where that extra 10 pinnacle power matters. And, the extra artifact level boost makes it even more irrelevant. I have not bothered with a single pinnacle drop in all of season of dawn.

But, without artifact power enabled, this means the only way to hit true maximum power and eek out as much of a competitive edge in trials as possible will be to do all of your weekly pinnacle activities. This means lfgs are going to be popping again. Clans are going to be organizing weekly raid night again. Reset is going to be exciting again and hoping the RNG gods will bless you with that pair of boots you need to raise your power level will be back. All so we can go into trials with our highest power level possible.

So, instead of "giving no reason to engage with any other content," in fact, just the opposite is going to happen. This change is going to drive even more players to engage with endgame content and I can't wait for it.

TL;DR: Removing artifact power from trials is going to increase engagement across all endgame content as pinnacle rewards are going to become more valuable than ever.

EDIT 1: Fixed misspelling of trials in post. Can't change the title but oh well. Thanks to everyone who pointed it out. To be fair, I blame swipe type and autocorrect for this.

"Your feedback is clear: The time you have invested in your stuff should be respected."

    Posted: 28 Feb 2020 03:08 PM PST

    > "In the months to come, your quest to become more powerful will have more avenues that lead to satisfaction. The last thing we wanted was for you to look at your favorite gun or helmet and decide that it had become obsolete. Since the reveal, we've read a lot of ideas for how this could have been done better. Your feedback is clear: The time you have invested in your stuff should be respected."

So what's with the big change of heart? This whole obsolescence by design has completely defeated any interest I had in grinding for quest weapons. In Luke's post he talks about Breakneck as if "how dare they!". That was a long quest that I sank a lot of time into that left me actually feeling rewarded and fulfilled. I don't see any point now if it's just going to get capped out of post-game activities.

And yes, the Bungie Defense Force has kept me well aware that Luke said it would be capped after 9-15 months or whatnot - as if that is supposed to make me feel better? I get just enough time to grind for, use and get very comfortable with a weapon just in time for it to be rendered obsolete by design.

I have always believed one of the biggest draws for playing Destiny was to be rewarded for our exploits by being able to have a collection of your favorite weapons in your vault and being able to grind for those so-very-sweet-but-so-rare drops with our favorite rolls. I thought this is how Bungie felt too, considering that's what they said, but I suppose our time doesn't mean as much to them anymore.

Creating an infusion ceiling for older weapons to force players into using new ones is a bad idea. As a "solution" it's about as effective as a bandaid on a broken leg and they are now alienating many of the game's most dedicated players. On top of that it's been tried before with Destiny and it was a real mess.

PvP kill screen should display active perks, buffs and debuffs

    Posted: 28 Feb 2020 05:06 PM PST

    Title.

The number of times I hear people say HOW DID THAT KILL ME or the number of times I wonder that myself...

It would be extremely useful to display this in the kill screen.

Also handy would be to see any relevant mods equipped by the enemy. ie if you were killed by Trust with Icarus Grip you would see that on the kill screen.

    For example:

Trust - Icarus Grip Rampage x 3 Empowering Rift

Edit: Armor mods are probably overkill but weapon mods are pretty interesting to know Edit 2: formatting and examples

Just played "Homecoming" on my 980 Titan with Recluse and Izanagi. Wow...

    Posted: 28 Feb 2020 01:06 PM PST

Back when we first played this mission we were given a wimpy character to play with and basically meh guns. Even new light players are likely given some blues and told to play that mission where the Cabal invade the tower.

I happened to see this in the abandoned quests and so I decided to go work on that. Took my 980 Titan with Recluse into that mission and THIS IS HOW THE MISSION SHOULD HAVE PLAYED OUT.

I was mowing down Cabal left and right. Like a complete God of the Destiny universe on a rampage for the Cabal taking out my home.

While the mission still ends the same way as it always has, the feeling of being a full powered Guardian rushing back when the defenses had collapsed was amazing. Too bad we can't have an alternate timeline where we turn the tide.

Still a 10/10 experience being able to play that mission with you full power and abilities.

Bungie, Electrostatic Surge on Bottom Tree Stormcaller is still broken

    Posted: 28 Feb 2020 03:58 AM PST

Since Bottom Tree Stormcaller was "buffed" in Season of The Drifter the perk Electrostatic Surge has not worked at all.

The perk itself states that while near allies you get your Rift back quicker. Supposedly they gave this perk a 300% boost in effectiveness but in reality it does nothing. Literally nothing. This has been a thing for nearly 4 seasons now and there's still no word on a fix for it.

    Kindly sort it out Bungie.

Ophidian Aspects extended melee range is not working currently.

    Posted: 28 Feb 2020 07:54 AM PST

Here is my janky recording: https://giant.gfycat.com/ArtisticGlumIndigowingedparrot.webm I measured the distance with DARCI and the lock-on range falls between 4-5m (presumably 4.5 as per the TWAB). I tried this many times from different angles and on different enemies, my video just shows a snippet of a test as proof.

The descpription reads "Weapons ready and reload very quickly. Melee range is extended."

I looked up other tests that were done in the past and found this post that shows the range differences with/without these gauntlets in D2Y1. https://imgur.com/Pb4HGOU As you can see, Ophidian gave a very generous boost to melee range during this time. Since then, it has either been removed completely or nerfed to a point were it cant even be accurately measured.

Weekly raid rotation + Aspirational content = A "new" mode

    Posted: 28 Feb 2020 09:01 PM PST

    Challenging Raid

Recently we have been seeing many posts related to weekly raid rotations that could offer pinnacle drops instead of just playing the most recent one. Taking that in consideration with the director's cut I would like to suggest an idea.

    How it works

On Vanguard tab, above nightfall there would be an option for a challenging raid, with 3 levels of difficulty.

Heroic difficulty: 3 negative modifiers and a time limit of 90 minutes to finish the raid. Team wipes would reduce 5 minutes of the available time.

Legend difficulty: Along with the modifiers and wipes penalty the time limit is reduced to 60 minutes and guardians light is capped -20 in each encounter (just like the 24 hours challenge on every raid launch)

Master difficulty: Same aspects as legend difficulty but if the team is wiped, they go straight to orbit

    Rewards

Like Luke said, one of the things that most engage players is loot and rewards, seasonal cosmetics would be a great choice for rewards.

    Master key

Every time you finish a run you will get a master key. One per difficulty and per account. You can drop a total of 3 keys every week doing 3 different level runs. You can stack up to 3 keys.

This key is used to open a special chest that spawns at the end of each raid.

    Loot for the chests:

    · Exclusive Uni/orn set (6 drops)

    · Raid weapon orn (1k voices/Anarchy/Tarrabah/Divinity). (single drop per season)

    · Ship, sparrow, ghost shell, emote and exclusive icon that matches the armor set design. (5 drops)

Each one of all drops is available weekly, that is, one week only the helmet will be available to be acquired.

Rewards will be tied to the account so they will drop in a sequence according to your account:

    Week 1 – Helmet

    Week 2 – Gloves

    Week 3 – Chest piece

If you miss one week for example you can get it on the next with no problem.

    Replayability and catch up mechanic

Repeating these activities will grant master key fragments that will stack up to 30 and enhancement materials.

5 fragments on heroic + 5 enhancement cores

    10 on legendary + 3 enhancement prisms

    15 on master + 1 ascendant shard

This fragments Keys can be used to craft a master key (20 fragments) or restore a rusted key (5 fragments)

Master keys will become rusted and unusable after staying more than one week in your inventory, to restore it you just have to take it to Ikora along with 5 fragments.

You can open the chest multiple times to get the rewards the you missed up to the weekly reward rotation and after that you get pinnacle drops from the raid loot pool.

You can trade fragments with various NPCs to get materials or items, especially with the spider.

    Thoughts

To drop every item you will need around 3 months which is the season duration.

So there would be a total of 3 new sets every season, the pass one, the EVV one and the challenging raid mode and the other items such as ship, sparrow, ghost and emote is also very "doable", they just need to decrease a few items of the 54185415 EVV seasonal pool.

    What are your thoughts?

The Legendary Engram is gonna be overloaded with soooo many items. If the Faction items are coming back, why not have them be obtainable by the actual Faction leaders?

It's going to be extremely rare to get the Faction items you want if the legendary Engram has 100 other items in it.

Here's a proposal. What if the leaders offered us their own items, but we had to do weekly bounties to obtain them? In D1, some of the Weekly Crucible or Vanguard bounties guaranteed a weapon or armor drop.

Factions can work similarly by having you do certain tasks for them, like obtaining Fallen Samples or doing 5 scan patrols. Completing these bounties guarantee a weapon or armor drop, and are repeatable.

    What do you think?

Hard Light Quality of life Change

    Posted: 28 Feb 2020 10:40 PM PST

So remember in year 1, when you had to enter your inventory to change the element of hard light? Consider this: when I spawn, hard light is ALWAYS void. That's fine and all, but in PVP I want solar. So i have to hit the button 2 times to get to Solar. I propose, we bring back that original menu and KEEP the reload change too, so our hardlight (and borealis, frankly) has a "preset" and then we can change it out from there.
    Thoughts?

Here's a good tip for people who are still missing legendary transmat effect (everything before season of opulence)

    Posted: 28 Feb 2020 07:29 AM PST

You can trade in 3 (of the same) rare transmat effect for 1 legendary one at Amanda Holliday. Just like the bright engram lootpool, this only includes effects from before season of opulence. But I suspect opulence items will be added to the bright engram loot pool next season - so you'll be able to get opulence transmat effects too.

So, here's an effective way to get a lot of legendary transmat effects and finish that collection:

-Buy a lot of the same blue transmat effect from your collections (they cost 1K glimmer)

    -Trade them all with Amanda

    That's it.

There is no duplicate protection, so you'll likely get a lot of the same ones. But eventually you'll have that collection finished.

Edit: It seems that the "Soulsknot" and "Arachnophile" transmat effect from season 4 don't drop, likely because they're festival of the lost items.

A tribute to Season of Dawn: the allies illuminated, the enemies defeated, and the legend we did it all for.

Every Seal through LFG thanks to the amazing Destiny community

Hi everyone, I just wanted to share this huge achievement with you all because more than likely I've played with alot of you. I want this to serve as an inspiration for those of you out there that are too shy or think you're not good enough to use LFG, please do it! It's a great place to hangout, there are definitely some toxic people but more importantly some of the greatest people ever. Some of my favorite moments of this entire journey is doing the flawless runs. After a couple hours you really feel like you get to know your fireteam members and when you hear that last beep for people leaving the channel it feels like you've lost a friend.

While I'm here I just wanted to share a few tips for kinderguardians or just people looking to start doing whatever it is that you consider hard.

Focus on getting better and not necessarily the achievement itself. (ESPECIALLY IN CRUCIBLE) If every match you stress about dying and losing glory you'll never get there. But if instead of raging you look at every death and every match and find how to get better eventually you will start to notice that you're winning more and more and that's because you've gotten better! However if you only focus on losses and team deaths you'll get tilted and surely never make it. This same attitude is what got me through flawless solo pit, I'd try it each day and figure out what went wrong then try to not let that happen again. Surely enough eventually after many tries and deaths due to nerves etc I got it and so can you.

Don't let nay sayers put you down. No matter what part of the community you're in pvp or pve once you get to the higher echelon of players the "oh thats no big deal" attitude will be heard everywhere. If you've only done one raid and you're proud of that be proud thats a big achievement. I've heard plenty of high skill players in crucible talk about how unbroken is no biggie. It is and I'll always be proud of that and always be proud of the first season I got to Legend. Don't let this get you down, instead it should subtly let you know that you're definitely becoming better.

Don't be toxic, at the highest tier of players i believe the very top of that pyramid are people that understand that toxicity does nothing but tear the team down, a team of lesser guardians that communicate well and roll with the punches will always beat a team with superior skill that are tearing each other up. This is especially true in raids and competitive. Even if you have a 20 k/d and your teamate has a .2k/d try to encourage them and not put them down. If you can get them to get their confidence back theyll start hitting shots and yelling at them is just going to worsen the situation.

I'm not sure if i can share the link here but if you google Destiny 2 LFG PC itll definitely pop up! If anybody wants to play with me or ask for some tips on how to do any of the seals feel free to dm me if alot of people want that kind of info I can also follow up later.

TLDR I got every seal in Destiny 2 just through the teamwork of internet strangers on discord because the destiny 2 community is amazing; hope to see you in trials next season

What if endgame content gave XP on par with bounties?

    Posted: 28 Feb 2020 01:56 PM PST

Many of the most dedicated players grind xp to increase artifact level, what if instead of mindlessly grinding bounties, it was equally optimal/more optimal to grind raids.

Xp for raids commensurate with time spent in raid, with diminishing returns (still best to run them fast, but it's not as much a waste to spend a longer in a raid). Maybe give extra xp if it's anyone's first time completing a raid, or first time in a week.

    Xp for comp matches

    Xp for master content

The more populated we can make these activities the better, imo
