Now that we are going to be able to change elements on gear, all class armour pieces (marks, cloaks and bonds) should be obtainable from collections.

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 04:28 AM PST

They don't have random rolls aside from element so there is no reason we shouldn't be able to take them out of collections.

I’m getting tired of the ‘The Sky Is Falling’ mentality a lot of Destiny players seem to have.

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 08:28 AM PST

I'll admit; at first, I wasn't too stoked about 'sunsetting' weapons. But, the more I think about it, the better of an idea it becomes. Think about all of the crazy stuff they can do with legendaries without having to nerf said weapons later because they'd be 'too OP' in future content. The new weapons will be able to stay strong and unique for that 'era' and ethos of content they were released in without breaking a future raid/trials. I'm looking forward to the future of Destiny 2, and I'm fairly certain there are many more people like me, who are too. The ones excited for the change (me) might not want to speak up because it's more popular to be negative about everything. Anyway, I'm gonna end this before I rant. If you made it this far, thanks.

    Edit: thanks for the award.

Edit: I'm glad this got more of a positive response than a negative one.

    All of Osiris' Sundial dialogue

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 11:02 AM PST

    Sundial Dialogue

In two weeks we'll be losing the Sundial activity and along with it a wealth of Osiris' dialogue. I've spend some time in the SundialGodHelpMe to make sure I got it all.

Now I know nobody wants to skip around 24 mins for interesting stuff, so I'll post timestamps for the ones I find absolutely the most interesting. Osiris has a couple of lines referring to Calus, The Red Legion, Ghaul, the Psions, the Infinite Forest and briefly OXA.

    Super noteworthy:

    10:20:

If the Traveler fled the system, there is a chance that the Darkness would ignore our region of the galaxy entirely. It would sacrifice our second awakening, our ability to wield the Light, but potentially continue our Golden Age. There are too many variables at risk, but it's a variant path worth investigating in the Infinite Forest.

    14:44

The light they have collected here is but a remnant of the whole. Information is scattered throughout various signals… but… they have offered the bulk of their prize to Calus. The legion may be attempting to buy their way back into the Empire. Interesting.

Final thought on weapon retirement and argument against it. Power level is what trivializes end game content. Not weapons and perk combinations.

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 07:44 AM PST

Datto actually put it best in one of his recent videos, and I'm paraphrasing, but his basic observation was weapons don't matter in D2.

As long as you're at or over-leveled for the content tackled, you can use literally anything and be successful. Sure there will be more optimal weapons, but all content can be reliably crushed regardless.

Let's go back to D1. As frustrating as forever 29 felt it kept the raid challenging for months, not less than a week like current Destiny raids. Sure later on cheeses were discovered, and full 30 power level/all Gajallerhorn fireteams emerged, but that raid was a challenging activity for a while. You would still fail encounters repeatedly with the wrong group.

Before Crota was being soloed with rock band drums or Ethernet cables were pulled that shit was HARD. You needed to prioritize adds as a team because they HURT. You needed to land crits effectively or you wouldn't take them down fast enough. People moaned and called this "artificial difficulty", but I disagree you needed to be a better team, better threat assessors, better shooters to overcome the power disadvantage.

When we started being able to over level everything got easy. What's more, now in D2 most "invested players" can reach "at level" endgame content within a week of release. I would argue that Menagerie was the last most recent bit of difficult content in this game, but guess what I just played it yesterday to farm for swords and it was strike level easy.

Where am I going with this? Having a full deck of "weapon cards" hasn't made weapons less interesting. Being able to smash all end game content within a week of release has made all weapons less interesting. Has made all raid gear less interesting.

I felt Bungie was actually doing really well recently with weapons personally. New interesting perks were popping up, being brought back- things like Vorpal and Demolitionist.

Some of these weapons were hard fought, some of them trophies for time investment, but Bungie is slaughtering the wrong lamb. It's power itself that whitewashes the game. It's a collection based loot game, why target that?

Let's look at the recent backlash against trials. Sure some streamers/PvP aficionados were raising concerns about possible OP weapons like Revoker when trials returns and that's valid, but the community as whole lost their collective minds about artifact enabled power in PvP. Why? Because power is greater than weapons or anything else. It trumps all.

Luke Smith lamented about how something felt off about Destiny. That there wasn't any aspirational activities and that getting new weapons just became a box checking game. I agree. But I don't draw the same conclusion.

Weapon collection became a box checking game because it currently is the only game left. That's not the weapons fault. Sure a lot of those old D1 raid weapons were really good. Black spindle and fate-bringer probably the biggest outliers. But at the same time you would use and equip those weapons because they were hard to get. They meant something. The content and difficulty added a lot of shine to those items independent of the perk set. In closing I'd say let us keep our weapons. They are the trophies for the game that is currently being played. But if upcoming content has a difficulty that requires more than a few attempts to master, and those weapons are difficult to get, I can assure you those are the ones I'll be equipping over my "basic bitch" outlaw/kill-clip whatever. I wanna shoot someone in the face in crucible and have them be like damn, I can't believe he got that weapon. I wanna walk into the tower wearing "glowhoo" after beating hard mode raid and have people message me again.

Long winded post I know, and I'm sure this ship has already sailed, but that's my 2 cents on why I feel weapon retirement is the wrong approach.

EDIT: I understand Datto is personally for weapon retirement. That doesn't mean I can't agree with him that power makes all content easily completable and weapon choices less impactful. It's OK to agree with someone on one stance and not another.

With the World Pool Getting 3 Factions worth of Armor and a bunch of Faction Weapons Next Update Can Rahool Get Some Kind of Bounty System to Better Target Items?

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 09:16 AM PST

We are going to be seeing 15 new armor pieces in the pool per character (all 3 factions) plus weapons in a pool already very over saturated.

It would be awesome to see the D1Y3 Arcite bounties but instead of for Crucible, for the world pool. So get a bunch of hand cannon kills, get one of the world drop hand cannons.

The sleeper simulant nerf was actually pointless, please remove it so we can actually use it again.

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 05:27 PM PST

There's no reason to use sleeper for invasions right now, just make it like it was and nerf it's pve dmg as we don't use it for dps in the first place, all you did was limit our options, when you nerfed sleeper it wasn't at all meta or overpowered.

I love Fusion Rifles almost as much as I love getting tea bagged.

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 05:48 AM PST

I've done some extensive research with Fusion Rifles in Crucible over the years, dating back to the first game and my beloved Saladin's Vigil, and the one undeniable truth I have found is that the majority of people do not like get getting killed by Fusions. I retired my Erentil this season with 3,700 crucible kills to protect my forehead from over exposure to strange scrotum and taint sweat. Mine didn't even have Backup Plan, Firmly Planted, or Rangefinder and I mostly used it right outside of shotgun range to counter apes. I just enjoyed it. Didn't need to map people with an OP one from 40-70m to get my rocks off. Still, balls on my face about every 10th kill. As my self esteem dwindled, I decided to switch my Fusion of choice up to the new Gallant Charge this season. Nothing special at all. No god roll, as if it would matter. Kill, kill, kill.......balls, balls, balls. Two separate times, I worked an Erentil user so bad with it that they actually switched to Gallant Charge mid game to counter my witchcraft. After I reached the 1,000 kill mark on this weapon, I realized that pubic hair had started to gather into a little knot on top of my nose. Maintaining world record crouch spam numbers. After I stopped crying this morning, I went outside for a walk to clear my head and take a man sized shit in the wilderness. I began to realize that people weren't tea bagging ME. They were tea bagging every 60m cross map bolt they had ever been killed by. It didn't matter if I put Telesto on and fired it straight up in the sky to start each round/match/encounter. The shear sound of that charge was going to give everyone PTSD. So what would I do? Become a knuckle dragging shotgun ape and let my sister shave my hair into a reverse mohawk? Lane camp with my sniper rifle while relieving myself into my diaper? Maybe go off the deep end and join the proud 0.1 percent of the grenade launcher cult. Nope. Fusion rifles all the way moving forward. I plan to celebrate the new sandbox by getting 2000 kills with Merciless on my way to a 1.0 efficency the first 3 days so we can get a decent amount of people asking for it to be nerfed before Trials starts. That would be my Magnum Opus. Use whatever weapons you like people. Know what weapon I hate getting killed by the most in Crucible? Whatever weapon is responsible for my last death.

I'm actually going to miss Sundial.

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 06:34 PM PST

Alright, I know. Not the greatest rotating event ever... but honestly? I think it was a marked improvement over Vex Offensive, which was SEVERELY disappointing (and overSHADOWED by the release of an expansion along with it)

But the Sundial's reward system is one of the coolest things about it. Finish run, grab loot, rinse, repeat. No chalice. No runs. You do all of the prep outside of the activity, and once you're in, there's just the events inside the activity.

Events. Right, those. I think the only one I'm really not okay with is the one with the Arc Charge deposits, that one's a bit irritating.

The rest are just solid fun though. Especially the boss fights, which I quite enjoyed.

I'll get hellfire for this, but I actually enjoy it more than I enjoyed the Menagerie. Personal opinion, I'm willing to concede that Menagerie may be objectively better.

So, good job Bungie. You did alright with this seasonal activity. Keep improving the idea.

I never got my Rapid Hit/Vorpal Weapon Patron though.

EDIT: I JUST GOT MY RH/VORPAL PATRON I CAN LEAVE THE SEASON IN PEACE

We need more snipers with zoom stats around 35-40

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 01:00 PM PST

So a current issue with the sniper meta right now is that there are so few snipers with actually viable zooms. Many potentially great snipers in the game are ruined by having zoom stats of 50. With a 50 zoom stat the minimum zoom is 6.5x, even with short zoom scopes such as ambush.

There are only a handful of snipers with zoom stats from 35-40 with the scope, and unsurprisingly, they are all the "meta" snipers. The only 2 snipers with zoom stats of 35 including the scope are Revoker and Twilight Oath. Both guns have zooms of around 4.5x which was what the original zoom of Ambush and Shortgaze was in D1. And again, unsurprisingly, these 2 snipers are the most used snipers. Beloved has a zoom stat of 40 with a zoom around 5.1x and it is also used a lot.

If Bungo wants variety, which they seem to really want... all they need to do is modify a bunch of existing snipers to have zooms around 35-40 including the scope. That would instantly make a lot of functionally obsolete snipers become viable, and would take literally no effort on their part.

Revoker is statistically a sub par aggressive frame sniper, made OP by having a 4.5x scope and breaking the ammo economy with Reversal of Fortune. I guarantee that if more snipers had lower zoom stats, we would see a lot more variety (although I do believe RoF needs to be changed/removed.) They honestly could just change RoF to quickdraw, and Revoker would be the only aggressive frame with snapshot and quickdraw which would make it still pretty solid.

Anyway, just wanted to give my 2 cents. Hopefully people agree.

    Edit 1:

Upon further investigation, it appears that all of the "meta" snipers tend to have barrel options rather than scopes. There are actually quite a few snipers with base zooms of 35 or 40, but it would appear that when a sniper has scope selection rather than barrel selection, the zoom stat of the scope gets added to the base zoom of the sniper rather than not adding anything when there are barrel options instead. If they made "short zoom" scopes add 0 to the zoom, it would make a lot of existing snipers viable.

Imagine having the cajones of Saint-14

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 04:40 PM PST

When it comes to Saint-14, our Guardian has:

    1) Started this man's whole career by giving him the courage and bravery (and shotgun) to become one of the greatest guardians to serve the light

    2) Rescued his Friend from the infinite forest when he was in too deep and trying to keep up above in his head instead of going under

    3) Rescued him from the corridors of time using nothing more than a shotgun to locate him amongst potentially infinite nodes in the corridors because we are so powerful that even the plot has to bend to our will

    4) Collected so much fractaline stonks that we could rebuild an entire lighthouse on Mercury for him while he stood in the tower and played with birds

And after all that this man still makes us compete in a weekly PvP event to collect his best rewards. That, right there, takes some massive badongles down below.

I'm hyped for trials though, that's gonna hopefully be great.

Edit 1: Corrected the mistake of calling Osiris his Mentor when, in fact, that role more belonged to The Speaker. Osiris was more of a close friend/brother to Saint. (Thanks u/Don11390 )

Why does this game not have region lock?

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 11:11 AM PST

I shouldn't be matching people from Russia and Korea if I live in NA east. And its not like this is a rare occurrence. In crucible (any playlist) and even gambit I'm matching people from different continents constantly. I am willing to wait more time to find a match if it means I won't be lagging. Please implement region lock.

edit: this is coming up alot so ill just clarify it here. im NOT suggesting to make it impossible for different regions to play. you should of course be able to play with ur friends from different regions if you want. but the matchmaker should never go across regions.

    Hand Cannons and Dragonfly

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 08:29 AM PST

Dear Bungie, ever since shadowkeep and the reduction of precision damage to hand cannons, they energy hand cannons have always felt so considerably weak compared to their kinetic counterparts. I understand the need to rein in hand cannons due to their massive range and much higher damage output compared to every other gun in the game, especially Crucible on PC. But Bungie, what you did also killed energy hand cannons in PVE. Before Shadowkeep, the hand cannons that I loved using were my Nation of Beasts and my Vaking Vigil with Dragonfly. When I got online from a long day and just want to explode tons of things, these were my go-to's. I have 13,000 kills on both of them combined. But as of late they never leave my vault. Every time i see them, I get sad from the amount of work I put in for them to just be a shell of their former selves. Keep in mind I farmed and used these before Menagerie was a thing. Dragonfly Spec is practically needed to get the most out of a Dragonfly hand cannon, but since Energy hand cannons do not one shot even at max light difference at "vandal tier" enemies at max light, i am forced to use minor spec in stead. But then I am sacrificing my 13 in the magazine instead, which is why i used them, they remind me of a baby fate bringer. I do not feel like I am asking for too much for the casual players when I ask that Hand cannons get just enough Red Health Bar critical damage to one shot them without minor spec. This pushes players away from Outlaw and more towards Rapid Hit. I don't necessarily want it to be pre shadowkeep damage but i do want to just easily cause explosions everywhere on max light difference to decompress. For further proof, look here: https://i.imgur.com/PLHZjMA.gifv Thanks again for working hard on such a great game that I have dumped countless days into, and thank you for your time. -Dove

I still think the way that Shaxx and Drifter absolutely lose their shit if you're on a roll is the best part about Crucible and Gambit

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 08:53 PM PST

Get a streak of 10-15 in Crucible and Shaxx starts to go mental, with lines relevant to your specific class (which helps make it feel more personal). Then there's the amazing "ran out of medals" medal, which is hilarious.

Meanwhile, if you're in Gambit, Drifty Boi is even less composed than Lord "No Indoor Voice" Shaxx. Wipe out their whole team and he starts to cackle like a madman, burn through entire waves of adds without stopping and he'll tell you to slow down. Absolutely stomp your enemy, crush them into the dirt and win with an overwhelming advantage and he'll remark about how you've "killed a god or two."

Honestly that right there makes me feel like the famous god-killing space badass that I'm supposed to be way more than running around picking up rocks in Devrim's backyard.

Freelance Survival - Last Man Standing, Dying Seconds, Last Arrow with Levi, One Shot Triple Kill to win the round.

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 10:43 AM PST

I originally posted this to r/crucibleplaybook but it's been deleted, probably as it's a clip. I read the rules, it said no clips unless you speak at length about it. I wrote more than two paragraphs like the rules stated about why Levi is so good for PvP/PvPvE and how I came to discover the build I was running.

    https://imgur.com/a/e1AjlwQ

It is truly one of those star aligning, one in a million shots that I couldn't replicate in a month of Sundays. Am I flexing? Not at all, it took no skill (aside peeking) the bow did all the work and I just got lucky af.

I had a Spiteful that I fell in love with, better than Hush IMO with it being lightweight it suits my style of play better. I had Enhanced Bow Targeting/Unflinching mods and a couple of legendary shotguns in the energy slot to pair with it. I never feel weak at any range. As I had such mods applied and legendaries in my first two slots, Leviathan just made sense. Boy am I glad I tried it out in more than just Ordeals/Sundial. Once you get the timing down, she wrecks. You get two instant delete arrows from every brick, 180 hip fire body shot OHKs feel naaasty.

I run two shottys and Leviathan in Gambit and I'm making 50 kills/50 motes almost every game. Sometimes I'll change it up and go Chappy/Martyrs and invade, no one's getting near you with Levi equipped. She can OHK body invaders, makes the enemy team quake if you invade with her and she does decent DPS. It staggers the big beefy bois that start spawning after the first wave, due to the exotic perk it also fucks up the ads around him so you can cleanup with Martyr's.

    Optimized Bounties for 2/29/2020

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 12:05 PM PST

Deertrivia has been called for jury duty! Clearly they don't understand that the Division 2's Warlords of New York drops next week, followed by Season of the Worthy the following week, followed by Animal Crossing the next week. You want to pull me away from all of that?! This is hardship, your Honor. This is the very definition of hardship.

Step 1 - Put on your Princess Leia costume.

Step 2 - Pick up the following Dailies. Weeklies can be found here.

    Tower Bounties:

    • Saint XIV Daily – The Finishing Touch – 10 Finisher Kills on Cabal
    • Saint XIV Daily – Leading Light – 20 Super Kills
    • Zavala Daily – One Shot, One Kill – 25 Precision Kills
    • Zavala Daily – Vanguardian – 50 Kills in Strikes
    • Zavala Daily – Finish Them – 5 Finisher Kills in Strikes
    • Shaxx Daily – Coordinated Fire – 5 Assist Kills in Crucible
    • Shaxx Daily – Lightbearer – 3 Ability Kills in Crucible
    • Shaxx Daily – Power Up – Recover Power Ammo in Crucible
    • Shaxx Daily – In the Zone – Capture 3 Zones in Control
    • Drifter Daily – All Right, All Right, All Right – Complete 1 Gambit Match
    • Drifter Daily – Big-Game Hunter – Kill an HVT in Gambit
    • Drifter Daily – Face to Face – Summon 2 Primevals
    • Drifter Daily – Final Ploy – 5 Finisher Kills in Gambit

    Planetaries

    • Devrim Kay – European Live Zone – Kill 50 Enemies in the EDZ
    • Devrim Kay – Front Line Defense – Kill 30 Cabal in the EDZ
    • Eris Morn – Lunar Patrol – Complete 3 Patrols on the Moon
    • Eris Morn – One Way Ballistics – 15 Kinetic Streak Kills
    • Eris Morn – Final Termination – 7 Finisher Kills on Vex on the Moon

Step 3 - Follow these steps (any order):

    1. Fly to the EDZ, grab Devrim's bounties, then run the Arms Dealer Strike. (15 minutes)
    2. Play one Control match, and another match type of your choice if you need it. (10-20 minutes)
    3. Play two Gambit Prime matches. (20 minutes)
    4. Fly TO THE MOOOOON, grab Eris's bounties, then head to Sorrow's Harbor. You should wrap up Lunar Patrol and One-Way Ballistics there pretty quickly. Then Sparrow your way to the Lunar Battlegrounds, hang a left, and head into the cave with the Vex Gate. Get close enough, and a bunch of Vex will spawn. MURDER. (10 minutes)

Total Non-Elemental Non-Weapon-Specific Bounties Cleared: 18 Dailies. Still waiting on a good day to get Scorn and Hive Strikes, but if you've done those on your own, you've almost certainly wrapped up your Zavala Weekly and Obelisk Strike Boss weekly.

    Total Time: 55-65 minutes

    Rewards:

    • 108,000 XP (unmodified)
    • 12,000 XP per weekly (unmodified)
    • 150 Fractaline
    • 15 Vanguard Tokens, 3/8 Weekly Vanguard Challenge
    • 20 Crucible Tokens, 4/8 Weekly Vanguard Challenge
    • 10 Dusklight Shards
    • 15 Helium Filaments

Extra Weapon/Elemental Bounties: I try not to do this because I want to list bounties you can earn while playing pretty much anything, but I figured some people could use an extra XP boost in the final weeks of the season. So I'm going to start tossing in a few easy ones you can do alongside the normal bounties.

    • Devrim also has Void damage in the EDZ. Run a Void weapon or Subclass in the Arms Dealer Strike, and you'll clear it.
    • Zavala and Banshee want Sniper kills. Run a Sniper in your Strike, you'll clear both of these.

We're carrying my friend through it and so far we've gotten to the crucible bit, but only the first one counted. Me and my friend are using rat king, and our third has the quest. We've played 3 games of mayhem. And how do you do the nightfall with the timer being removed and all?

Bungie, I know this is probably nitpicking, but is there a chance that you can update the Exotic Sparrows from Seasons 1-3 to outfit the Destabilizers (mid-air roll) perk?

Allow me to argue my opinion on why this should happen:

    1. The Destabilizers perk partilly refills your boost after successfully doing a trick. It's a minor gameplay element that is missing, but it's a gameplay element nonetheless. That means that Destiny Fashion enthusiaists may or may not be put in a situation where using a sparrow to match their looks will cause a detriment to their performance, regardless of it being the smallest possible aspect. Also, you can't look fabulous on your sparrow without doing graceful flips!

    2. The ability to do flips and wacky stunts. This one is pretty obvious (I mean come on). Also, it can be pretty irritating, for someone who likes to flip their sparrow off of the smallest ridge, to see a really cool sparrow drop and say, "Hey, this cool-looking sparrow called Otherside just dropped from the Strike chest!" and not be able to do flips and cool tricks with it ("Aww, what the hell, man!").

    3. These un-upgraded sparrows are currently dropping from the Bright Engrams. It's nice that Bungie has used the Bright Engrams as a way to unlock past items, especially for a new player. However, like my previous point, getting a cool blast from the past and not being able to put it to the best use feels like a real s l a p i n t h e f a c e.

Overall, I think Bungie should update these old Exotic sparrows to include the Destabilizers perk, because while unobtained sparrows of the past can make fine additions to anyone's collection, they're still circulating in the game only to serve as scrap metal for those who like to FLIP.
