This week at Bungie, the Guardian Games have begun.

Hunters, Titans, and that floaty class are facing off against each other in a friendly competition. We kicked off the event with a dev insight showing some of us at Bungie sharing our thoughts on who is going to win.

    Video Link

Sure, there's some light-hearted ribbing going on, but at the end of the day we're all Guardians. Still though, the winners get to flex their class item in everyone's faces, so get out there and represent your team.

Hunters won the first day, but Titans rose to the occasion to claim day two. It's still far from over. One thing we haven't told you yet is that during the final week of the event, every day's victory will count for double points. So if any class is holding a fairly significant lead and thinks they can sit back and relax, they better keep on pushing or another class could pull off a comeback.

Before we move on to the rest of the TWAB, Production Director Justin Truman would like to speak on the current state of the game and our plans going forward.

    Justin Truman: Hey everyone,

If you're like me, you're playing a lot more video games now than you did last month. In these uncertain times, we want Destiny to be a satisfying escape rather than a frustrating grind.

There's been a growing list of concerns with the game lately: Trials, the rise in cheaters, our new Seasonal model, the balance between rewards you earn vs. items you buy. We've been closely watching and discussing each of these topics as we read your feedback. When our community managers relay that everyone at Bungie is listening, I assure you, we are.

We're also working hard from our homes, trying to address and improve each of these areas for future releases. Nothing in Destiny is as easy as flipping a switch, and everything's gotten trickier while working remotely. But as Destiny players ourselves, we struggle with the same issues you do, and we want to fix them as quickly as we can.

But fixing these issues isn't good enough if we keep you in the dark the whole time, so we're going to try something a little different. Every week for the rest of this Season, we'll have updates from different members on the dev team covering the most important topics in Destiny right now, and what we're planning to do about them.

Today we're going to discuss Trials and our war against cheaters.

Next week we'll be diving deep on our Seasonal model, and how we plan to improve it in the future as well as some info on bounties and our plans involving their evolution.

We have plans for future editions of the TWAB, but we also want to hear from you. What are other topics you want to make sure we discuss in the coming weeks?

Like you, we love Destiny and the community that makes it as special as it is. For a bunch of us, Destiny represents more than a decade of our lives, and we're never going to stop trying to make it better – even if we have to do that from our beds and couches in this unprecedented time. I'm looking forward to sharing more with you in the coming weeks.

    Stay safe out there, Guardians.

    Trials and Tribulations

A few TWABs ago, we talked about some of the issues with how the Trials of Osiris rewards are currently set up. We have an update on how we'll start addressing some of your feedback.

Our goal for Trials is to encourage players to chase seven win tickets. Resetting tickets should not be the most effective way to earn Trials gear. Rewards should show players that the further you progress, the better the payout. Players that have already gone flawless once over a weekend should be encouraged to repeat the experience on passages other than Mercy – to strive to earn more rewards and not sit at the bottom of cards picking on fireteams struggling to hit three wins or even just win a single match.

Trials has always had a problem of being approachable for players who aren't highly skilled PvP gods. We believe that players should be encouraged to make an attempt every week, regardless of skill. You should feel some value in dipping your toe in each week to see if you can get a little further than last week, to push yourself to improve and get better. While every single player won't make it to the Lighthouse, you should feel like you can get meaningful rewards by pushing yourself and still get some rewards for spending time in the activity.

So what are we doing about it?

    • Problem: Token Rewards incentivizes players to farm to three wins and reset their card.

      • Solution: In Season 11 we're planning on creating token payout milestones at 3/5/7 wins that give successively larger chunks of tokens. Bonus Tokens Passage should increase these payouts, and on a flawless run it will generate a significant token payout.
    • Problem: Trials is unrewarding for players stuck at 1-2 wins.

      • Solution: Create a weekly bounty that encourages participation each weekend and does not require match wins. When redeemed, the bounty will reward the same item that comes from the three-win passage unlocking the engram for purchase that week.
    • Problem: Trials feels unrewarding compared to other endgame activities.

      • Solution: Inject more chances to earn Masterworking materials from Trials. Masterworking/infusion materials will come from 3/5/7 win payouts in Season 11. We're also looking into possibly adding a new material-focused farming card in Season 12.

These are our current plans for changes we want to make in the short term. We're also still investigating improvements we can make in the long term. For example, you may be asking "What about Adept weapons?" We're currently investigating a new form of Flawless aware weapons for a future Season. They might not have the same name, but these weapons would have some differences in order to set them apart. Right now we are currently looking at giving these weapons the ability to replaces the weapon mod slot with an adept mod slot(name may change) that can accept custom-built mods in addition to the normal list of weapon mods. All of this is subject to change as we continue to develop but wanted to give you an early look. We'll share more details in the future.

We know many of you are far more concerned about cheaters ruining your trips to the Lighthouse, and rightfully so. It's a punch in the gut to lose on your final game to someone with a fully automatic Whisper of the Worm. Let's now take some time to update you on the cheater war effort.

    No Quarter

When winning every match is more important than ever, it's no surprise that there are some who are willing to cheat or pay others to cheat for them. We asked Destiny Engineering Director David Aldridge to give an update on the fight for a fair fight.

David Aldridge: Let's talk about cheating.

Cheating in Destiny 2 is up roughly 50 percent since January, and significantly more in the highest skill echelons. We expected a significant bump with the return of Trials, and we made a number of careful preparations, most notably partnering with Valve to integrate Steam Datagram Relay into our PC build to mitigate DDOS attacks. While many of those preparations were successful (e.g. DDOSing on PC is nearly extinct), we're still not happy with the amount of cheating happening today, especially in Trials. When your pinnacle achievements are denied by encountering a cheater on a high Trials ticket, or devalued by seeing someone else with ill-gotten goods, that's frustrating. Those frustrations are happening too often right now, and the vengeance of the Banhammer is often too far behind.

That said, the Banhammer has not been idle. Before Season of the Worthy launched, we were averaging 656 bans or restrictions per week. In the first four weeks after launch, that rate more than tripled to 2133 punishments per week.

When it comes to tracking and punishing cheaters, we have to keep some of our plans and knowledge secret for obvious reasons, but we still wanted to give you a brief overview of the worst types of cheating we're actively combatting:

    • On PC (where most cheating occurs, unsurprisingly):

      • Memory-poking attacks to gain gameplay advantage (e.g. infinite ammo, infinite ability energy, infinite respawns, teleports)
        • To acknowledge a valid point that we often see come up in community discussion, some of these attacks leverage Destiny's unique hosting model, discussed here and at much more length here. We designed Destiny's model to optimize for the feel and consistency of high-complexity, high-action, high-fidelity PvE experiences, while allowing the seamless blending of PvE and PvP. Unfortunately, that model comes with some unique challenges in providing PvP security guarantees. That said, we continue to invest in preventions and detections in this space, leveraging the servers that host and monitor every match. This is a subtle point we've struggled to convey over the years: we do have servers hosting every match, but in our hosting model, those servers don't have complete authority over the game simulation to prevent all of these sorts of attacks naturally. This makes it more difficult (but not impossible) to mitigate these attacks.
    • Aimbots

      • <We have plans to address this problem, but will keep the details close to our vest to prevent further hacks and workarounds.>
    • Wallhacks

      • <Same as above>
    • Lag switching

      • We have detection and banning systems in this area, and we'll continue to hone those. We want to be cautious here because some players suffer with unreliable internet through no fault of their own and aren't using it to gain advantage.
    • On consoles:

      • DDOS in Trials
        • We have detection and banning systems around this (we've been evolving them since the original Destiny) but they're imperfect because DDOS occurs entirely outside of the machine running the game. One long-term mitigation to this is adopting SDR on consoles as well, which we hope to do at some point in the future.
      • Lag switching
        • See above.

But you didn't come here just to hear us describe the types of cheating in Destiny. The more pressing question is: What do we plan to do about it?

    • We're shifting more people to help work on this space. More eyes analyzing cheater reports, more developments in our anti-cheat systems, more people developing and testing new ban rules, and more fuel for the hammer. There are many details about new detections and preventions, but sharing those would give the bad actors a head start. The one thing I can say is that a big focus is rapid response – we want to get cheaters out of the pool more quickly. This is key to reducing the value of cheating, especially in selling access to cheats.
    • We're changing a key policy – fireteammates of cheaters are no longer innocent. We now reserve the right to restrict or ban any player who has benefitted from cheating, even if they didn't cheat themselves. This includes scenarios where players group up with or provide account information to a guide or carry service, which then cheats on their behalf. We want you to find new friends out there, but be sure they have your trust before you go. If you LFG your way into a fireteam with a cheater, get out and report them. If you ride them to a flawless, the Banhammer will come for you as well.
    • We're considering requiring a much higher player time investment to play Trials. We're interested in your thoughts on this. What if you had to have ~100 hours of play on an account to participate in any Trials match where a ticket with more than four wins was at stake on either side? Increasing the time it takes for a new account to become Trials-ready increases the power of our Banhammer (since cheaters can always create new dummy accounts), but it also adds barriers to honest, law-abiding PvPers that want to check out Trials. Would the reduction in cheaters be worth the increased barrier to getting your T-1000-aimskill buddy who's running behind on Light to join your fireteam?
    • [REDACTED]. Because this is a cheating discussion, know that we have additional initiatives we do not intend to share publicly, in order to stay one step ahead of attackers.

There are a couple of common misconceptions about Destiny security that are worth discussing here as well:

    • "Destiny does not have an anti-cheat"

      • Destiny does have anti-cheat that consists of custom security code and a third-party security product used by many other AAA games. We have a team of senior security engineers working on anti-cheat.
      • Anti-cheat isn't a yes-or-no thing, it's a constellation of possible mitigations. We're always looking to add new stars to our constellation, and to strengthen existing ones.
    • "Destiny relies on player reports or humans to identify cheaters"

      • The vast majority of punishments issued come from automated detections. We use player reports to help us identify emerging threats. All automated detections are reviewed and verified by a human before punishment to minimize the risk of false positives.
    • •"Destiny should use Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC)"

      • Destiny does utilize some of VAC's security features, and we have plans to utilize more. Bungie's security team and Valve's security team meet regularly to discuss the latest attacks and mitigations.

We're also re-evaluating some of our decisions along the way – for example, we may have made a mistake in not having Trials behind the Season Pass paywall, which would have created more friction against free-account-recycling cheaters. We won't change this for Season of the Worthy, but we'll re-evaluate access requirements in future Seasons. At its best, Trials is a fountain of nail-biting space combat crescendos, and it's something you can't find anywhere else. We want that experience to be available to as many people as possible. But if we're forced to choose, we will choose for Trials to be a sacred space, even if that means fewer people can play.

Our overall goal with Destiny security is to provide a competitive, fair ecosystem where cheaters are rarely seen and are rapidly ejected from the game. We're not there right now, and we're increasing the priority. We'll keep you posted.

    Guardian's Heart

Last week, we unveiled the Guardian's Heart charity initiative. Our mission is to combine the forces of this amazing community in support of the frontline healthcare workers who are risking their personal safety to battle COVID-19. If you missed our announcement stream, you can read all the details here.

One week later, we're already in sight of our total goal. To date, you have collectively raised well over $600,000! While we never doubted you, we never take you for granted. Thanks to each and every one of you for your support.

This initiative was designed to last for a full month and we intend to keep rolling. Some truly awesome people have hosted their own Bungie Bounties to raise awareness for the cause. Those will continue. Here's who you can look forward to hunting in the wilds of matchmaking this week. All times are PDT.

As cool as the Guardian's Heart emblem is, you can't take it with you once you're done playing. If you're looking for a way to show your support in real life for the heroes of this global health crisis, the Bungie Store is getting in on the action. Now through April 30, all profits from the Bungie Foundation Pin benefit Direct Relief charity for COVID-19 efforts.

With your purchase, you'll also get the free exclusive "Bending Borealis" emblem.

    Image Linkimgur

All Bungie Store orders over $50 will receive the Bungie Foundation Pin for free (while supplies last), and we'll make a donation of $14.99 to Direct Relief.

    Ghost Ship

On our Season of Worthy page we had an error that stated that there would be a Ghost available on the bottom Seasonal reward track for Season Pass owners. It was meant to inform players about the ship that is currently being offered. Since it was our mistake and we did promise a Ghost we will be delivering a Ghost that you will be able to claim next Season if you have purchased Season of Worthy.

Here is a quick look at the concept art for the Ghost and what perks it will have.

    Image Linkimgur

    Perks:

    • Guiding Light
    • Omni-Telemetry
    • Random Destination Perk

Sorry for any confusion. We'll have more details on how to pick up your Ghost before the next Season goes live.

    Twitch Prime Rewards

Any player with an active Prime subscription can visit this page to link your Bungie.net account and claim your rewards. Amanda Holliday will then have your rewards waiting for you in the Tower. Here's a look at what this month's offering includes:

    • S'mores - Exotic Emote
    • Death to Kells - Exotic Ship
    • Star Map Shell - Exotic Ghost
    • The Whipcrack - Legendary Sparrow

    Emerging Issues

    Image Linkimgur

The Player Support team is hard at work tracking down issues as players discover them in the wild.

    This is their report.

    ERROR CODES

Destiny Player Support is continuing to collect reports of players hitting WATERCRESS and NEWT errors. Our teams are still working on finding a fix for this issue.

We are also continuing to investigate increases in connection-based error codes such as ANTEATER, BEAVER, and RABBIT.

    CURRENT KNOWN ISSUES

    • While we continue investigating various known issues, here is a list of the latest issues that were reported to us in our #Help Forum:
    • Players must complete the introduction quest, The Guardian Games, before bounties and medals can be obtained.
    • The On Your Laurels Guardian Games quest sometimes doesn't go into player inventories, or Eva Levante keeps offering the quest to players.
    • The Void Feast Guardian Games bounty does not count kills while Devour is active.
    • Warlocks have to get 10 charged melee kills using the bottom tree of their Voidwalker subclass.
    • The Lethal Buddy Guardian Games bounty does not gain progress from Arc Soul kills from the Getaway Artist exotic.
    • Warlocks have to use the Attunement of the Elements Stormcaller subclass even if they're wearing Getaway Artist exotic gauntlets.
    • The Show Your Colors Guardian Games triumph shows as account-based, but must be completed on a single character.
    • The Daily Seraph weapons acquired from Rasputin bunkers can no longer be claimed even if players reach rank 92 on their Season Pass. For a full list of emergent issues in Destiny 2, players can review our Known Issues article. Players who observe other issues should report them to our #Help forum.

It's Movie of the Week time. If you are new here, here's how it works: We go on a hunt across the community to find some of our favorite videos and then we highlight them here. Here are this week's winners.

Movie of the Week: Crayola Crew

    Video Link

    Honorable Mention: Dance Dance Evolution

    Video Link

As Justin mentioned at the top of the TWAB, we covered the first two topics in a series of write-ups about some of the biggest current challenges with Destiny. We plan to unpack new topics each week and give regular updates on how our efforts are going.

Next week, we plan on talking about our Seasonal model and bounties. We know there's been a lot of feedback on bounties, especially since Guardian Games utilizes them for scoring. We'll share some of the ways we'll be changing up bounties and how they're implemented in the future.

Bear with us as we work to steadily improve the game. Much like you, we love Destiny and we want it to be the best that it can be.

Stop telling people to take a break. The game is designed to punish people for doing that.

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 11:15 AM PDT

Bungie: Ahh, you thought you wouldn't play Destiny this month? Well... right off the bat, kiss this emblem goodbye. You will never be able to get it again.

Guardian: OK, that's fine, emblems kinda suck anyway.

Bungie: AND this event-exclusive exotic weapon. Yeah, it's cool. Do you think we'll remember to add it to Xur's pool? Can you get it next year? Who knows!

Guardian: ...alright, not cool, but I guess that's fine. I don't use most exotics anyway.

Bungie: And it's really just too bad you won't have the bright dust to get what's on our shockingly small and crowded weekly store reset. That sparrow looks cool, right? Did you mark your calendar? Because the last time to get it for bright dust this season was last week! Bwahaha! Better luck next season!

Guardian: At this point you guys just sound evil. Like a cartoon villain, but not a good one.

Bungie: Evil? No. Don't you know this is how free to play games work? We've gotta make money somehow. Besides, we didn't even get to the best part.

    Guardian: We can stop now.

Bungie: You can stop after you get your 5 "boosted" season pass levels on your account. Because at rank 100, you get that really nice ornament for the season exotic that obviously looks better than the base skin. Plus, those armor sets you liked when this season was revealed? They're all in the upper tiers! Until then, enjoy your glimmer and legendary shard rewards, as well as the repeat armor rewards.

Remember, it's your fault if you don't unlock them now, and you never know if you can unlock them again.

Guardian: Didn't you guys already say you realized that FOMO was bad and that you were going to cut back on it?

    Bungie: Eh, probably.

    Guardian: ...

Bungie: You're still going to buy the armor glows in 2 months and you're going to like it.

*Edit: * Folks, I am taking a break from Destiny. However, in every thread that points out why Destiny sucks right now, I see someone advocating the OP to take a break. The thing is, Bungie designed this game and this year in a way that makes it difficult for people to take breaks because they're leaning really, really hard into FOMO as a punishment mechanism. That's what this thread is about.

A complaint from a Day One Year One Destiny One Player, from the deepest depths of my heart.

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 12:14 PM PDT

Since Shadowkeep launched, this subreddit has been flooded with a constant stream of complaints about the games state of constant bounty grinding, and the overall shallowness of content and the general direction that the game seems to be going in.

Throughout the last few seasons I have played fairly regularly and just finished my season pass for the current season today.

All throughout these last few months, however, one thing in the game has bothered me immensely.

Why in the hell are Nightmare Knights not just called Knightmares.

    Come on Bungo.

Obligatory edit yadda yadda nonsense starts here

Edit: Holy heck this took off, and not only is it now my most upvoted post ever, but shout-out the guardian who gave me my first gold!

I've had this joke running with my circle of friends for a while now, but I figured it was time to share it with all of you lovely people in this time of darkness.

    Love you all

    Calus Will Save Us

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 07:12 AM PDT

I see everyone making predictions and trying to make sense of the datamined information so I thought I would give my two cents:

I predict that Calus will save us guardians. His Leviathan will eat all of the Doritos ships and the screen cuts to black. THEN the sound of a soda can opening and it cuts to Calus drinking a Mountain Dew doing a wicked skateboard trick off the Traveler who is now indebted to him forever. The people of earth ask "what should we call you oh great one?" Calus replies "Call me Kyle."

This makes the most sense to me. If Bungie doesn't do this I will leave the game. Ball is in your court Bungie!

Bungie should've used Menagerie for Guardian Games instead of Forges

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 10:04 AM PDT

    Title.

Menagerie, in my opinion, is a more significantly enjoyable activity than Forges. You'd also be able to farm significantly more laurels in the process as well. Just seems like it was Bungie's way of getting us to play content that was not really active

Times when Luke Smith talked about Destiny's future and mistakes:

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 05:25 PM PDT

    Today:

"There is A lot of good stuff in Destiny. There is also a long way to go before we have it in a place we are truly proud of. We are going to be talking about next steps in the coming weeks."

    Feb 26 2020 Director's Cut:

"Setting aside the tricks our memories play on us, things are often clearer in hindsight than when we're looking ahead. The recent past is clear, loaded with learnings from the mistakes we make, and the future is fuzzy, hopeful, and unknown."

    Aug 13 2019 Director's Cut part 1:

"I think transparency about the game is important and I also want to be transparent about the work required." "Not just because of the sometimes-harsh-feeling feedback, but because this team wanted make something sweet, exceed your expectations, and meet their own expectations. None of those things happened."

    Jan 17 2019 TWAB:

"When I look ahead and think about Destiny and where it could go, I see a bright future, with roots in a memorable past. Not everything has been lost in the dark corners of time."

Nov 10 2018 in a since deleted tweet:

"We are not disappointed with Forsaken. We set out to build a game that Destiny players would love, and at Bungie, we love it too.

Building Destiny for players who love it is and will remain our focus going forward."

    Oct 12 2017, Edge Magazine 312:

"You project, when something comes out, what you think the problems are going to be. Sometimes you're right, and you're like, cool, we can just do the work we planned to do. Sometimes you're not right, or you have something else come up that becomes a higher priority."

No other commentary than this: Destiny 2 has repeatedly hit moments of high tension over poor design choices, and each time, Luke Smith comes out to tell us to look forward to the future of destiny.

Recreating the Vault of Glass in Minecraft

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 08:38 AM PDT

Hopefully this is allowed on this subreddit lol

Anyways, I just started this project with the goal of creating a functional representation of the Vault of Glass in Minecraft, containing all encounters and bosses (as well as some added secrets). Currently I have only finished the Oracle encounter, but I have started on certain aspects of other encounters as well (specifically the Templar boss fight)

Here is a YouTube video of the Oracles in action

It would be nice to get some other people on board to help with building the map and refining the command blocks and redstone behind the mechanics (since I'm sure I can improve what I have), but either way I figured I'd show this off. Hopefully I'm able to finish this and publish it as an actual adventure map (currently the goal is to make it a solo map, but I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to modify it and make it compatible with a full 6-member fireteam). Lemme know what you guys think!

EDIT: I'm currently going backwards and working on the confluxes/opening the vault. I'll update you guys as I go!

The season pass paid track needs to be redone

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 02:47 PM PDT

The paid track is just absurdly bad at this point. Pretty much every worthwhile item is in the last 30ish levels (aside from the exotic which is at 1 or 25 each season) .

Glimmer? Get that out of there.

100 Bright dust? Really? Why not enough for a single non-shader from your shop?

20ish slots taken by passive buffs, which are ordered oddly to further deincentivize playing the activity you want for the extra drops and most being a +2 percent buff or seasonal 1 energy for different armor pieces

Repeat seasonal armor sets, first set at lvl 1 has solstice armor stat amounts but I get it. 5 more slots being taken by a mediocre drop and then another 5 by the set people will keep if they're not willing to farm out a couple stat points.

    Zero silver

Its just lackluster in most categories and ends up being about 30 actual tiers of useful drops. I know there's a million other issues but this should be known to be one of them.

PLEASE BUNGIE, UNLOCK REVELRY ANTLER ORNAMENTS

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 05:01 PM PDT

Many of you may not remember revelry 2019, many of us don't want to...but the one thing i was hoping for, was the ability to use the antler ornament again....

The guardian games pretty much takes the spot of the revelry event from last year. Even in collections you can see the old revelry triumphs under the guardian games tab. So what i'm seeing is, we aren't getting revelry back cause it's been replaced and i could care less about the event itself, I JUST WANT MY ANTLERS BACK, THEY TOOK SO LONG TO GET TO NEVER BE ABLE TO USE AGAIN AND I LOVE THEM. NO REVELRY EQUAL NO ANTLERS.

I don't see another opportunity for this, and i really don't want them to be forgotten...waited a whole year just to see if we could use them again, but nope, still locked... if at the least, would like some consolation that they'll come back at some point...

Given theyre both pretty underused at the moment, giving Sleeper and Outbreak the ability to spawn Warmind cells would make them super viable + give them champion stopping capabilities.

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 07:53 AM PDT

I feel like both these guns are player favorites but there is little to no reason to use them, at all. Maybe giving them Warmind Cells will see them used more? its not as if it wouldnt make sense story wise lol. Warmind Cell builds are awesome and it would be cool to also add exotic weapons to these builds in the form of Sleeper or Outbreak

Reminder that Nika Futterman, the voice of Eva Levante, also voiced Asajj Ventress from the Clone Wars, Khan Maykr from Doom: Eternal and Chum Chum from Fanboy and Chum Chum.

In other words the voice of nana Levante is also a Sith assassin and a being of pure rage and malice (Chum Chum), making her the single most diverse voice actor in the franchise as far as I'm concerned.

TWO MAN CALUS WITH HEIR APPARENT

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 11:19 PM PDT

This gun was extremely fun to use, and we decided the best way to test it out was to use against Calus. Here's the video if anyone wants to check it out. Thanks Bungie for a super unique exotic such as this one! Heir Apparent vs Calus

Since no Hunter wants to become the Hunter Vanguard, why don’t we just make the Colonel the Hunter Vanguard instead?

    Who says no?

Edit: For those who are unaware, the Colonel is Cayde's pet chicken.

Swearing at Bungie in reddit posts isn’t making them more likely to implement ideas

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 05:01 AM PDT

The suggestions in this sub are completely awesome, I just want to say that. But why do we have to ask in such a negative way?

Why can't we just explain our ideas out for them and take in their feedback, instead of giving suggestions the same way you would insult your ex's mother.

Respect the devs for what they've done for you, and not what they haven't.

Talk to Bungie. Don't say "Trials is a f***ing disappointment and here's why" Followed by some incoherent text about how much the rewards disappoint, Instead give the devs constructive criticism, like "Some exclusive trials maps could improve the novelty of playing trails".

Treat the devs like human beings please. They are humans, after all, and they deserve our respect for what they have done. (Even if we don't like every single patch ever)

Edit: Why does everyone think I am praising Bungie for the bad stuff they have done? I admit that Destiny has fallen into the deepest hole that it has ever been in (Sorry Bungie), but that doesn't mean that Bungie "doesn't care". In case you haven't noticed, there have been the biggest setbacks to destiny very recently. As in, loosing development teams, and going free to play. Again, we have to acknowledge that they are a design team and not gods. If they do implement changes, it is rational to think that they can't be implemented in the week

Edit 2: Well I can't spell trials right

Edit 3: Okay. Let me condense this post down for you. RESPECT BUNGIE LIKE YOU WOULD ANYONE ELSE. Makes sense?

Edit 4: People are missing the pint of this post. The only thing I want is for some proper communication from both sides. I never said that Bungie was perfect and we are wrong. Lately, Bungie's decision making has been meh at best.

Edit 5: This isn't an attack on the community or Bungie. This community is the greatest community I've ever been a part of. Sometimes it gets out of hand, but when we come together, we can do amazing things. Think of all the puzzles we have solved. All the secrets found. This is a great community, and the community involves the developers, so let's treat it like one. That's all I ask.

Edit 6(wow 6 times): I think people are mis-understanding what I mean when I says swear words. When I say stop swearing, I mean stop using 40 swear words to justify why Hunters should be nerfed in PVP

Edit 7: I'm now going to stop replying to every comment because A) there are waaaaay too many negative ones for me to write a paragraph each for and B) nobody seems to understand that this is a post about trying to spread positivity

Edit 8: Read the entire text including the edits before you go off at me in the comments

The seraph towers will officially go down as the worst seasonal event in Destiny history

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 01:34 AM PDT

I'm calling it. These things are so mind damn hard to do in public event zones that so poorly designed that I'm genuinely contemplating whether Bungie has lost the ability to make good content. All they've been doing for 3 seasons is the menagerie. Now, they actually introduce something a little bit new and they screw it up by not matchmaking it. Seriously. If you guys just match made the damn things this would all be fine. We would have enough players to do the thing. I know some people have been able to do them and good for you guys, seriously, I'm glad people are actually able to complete them, but I've ran the thing 20 times on Earth (not joking) now and haven't done it once. Each time there were atleast 6 people and nope. We get to 80-90% and we're out of time. Seriously... Whoever designed these things... Don't ever do it again

I thought Guardian Games would drop with some Olympic inspired games to play.

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 07:20 AM PDT

This is probably one of the reasons it was so badly recieved. When you have "games" in the title and show images of what appear to be the Olympics, you set the expectation that there would be some new activities and events. I thought there was going to be a Javelin throw with the Javelin, some sort of track event like the Gaunlet in the Menagerie and maybe, just maybe, even sparrow racing. How about Archery or Skeet Shooting? You know, games...for Guardians. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I can't be the only one who thought there'd be more than bounties to do.

Remember When We Had Story Missions?

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 08:04 AM PDT

I would love to see one or two story missions included in the seasonal model to spice things up. That is all :)

Edit: I'm well aware of last seasons story missions (which were amazing), but what I'm saying is if we continued that trend every season.

I Am Still Under the Belief That This Game Going F2P Was/Is Bungie's & Destiny's Downfall

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 10:56 PM PDT

I know this has been a topic of discussion before however, I feel it is important that this gets talked about as we have been on a downward spiral since this game went 'Free to Play' as well as moved to Steam. There was a post detailing how player sentiment was doing since Forsaken to now and it is very evident that since Shadowkeep launched Bungie has been the catalyst to their shortcomings and don't seem to play Chess when it comes to putting out content they only see the short-term effects of an idea and never the effects of the idea thereafter [E.g. Trials of Osiris, Vex Invasion, Guardian Games].

I want to start by talking about my experience with bringing New Light players into the game; I have only brought in a handful of new players since the release of Shadowkeep which I feel Bungie had thought/hoped for players like me that have been in the game since launch to blow smoke up some new players' ass and tell them about all the amazing world-building, unique weapon quests, and raiding (Big emphasis there because, of the power cap changes to the older raids Bungie had hoped that new players were just going to jump straight on into this without realizing how flawed the social/guided aspects of this game have become since Destiny 1 and D2 Y1.) These new players did not last long into the release of Shadowkeep or the subsequent supplementary seasons to follow.

I had to ask these players that would quit why is that, and, a few claimed that there was no clear direction, to elaborate the few that said this, told me that the game just throws you to the wolves after the introductory mission hands you a bunch of quests with no varying degree of importance or structure, one had claimed, 'I don't know why they thought it was a good idea to get rid of that campaign they had.' I then had to explain who vendors the campaigns to you instead of the game knowingly setting players that haven't played the campaign at all to do so. Another player said they felt limited to the stuff they could do, which I empathize with as my clanmates would gather up to do a raid only to realize we would not be able to bring the newer player in with us forcing the party to disband so the new player could join in on activities or telling the new player that in essence your SoL, or running a raid the group never planned to do. Another player claimed they feel too late to the game, we have discussed FoMo a myriad of times here so I needn't bring it up but it reaches newer players all the same. These examples are only the shorthand figuratively speaking that does not even make up the book worth of complaints others have had since this game went free to play and these are only from new players.

So what was the point of even bringing that up? "It's simple math guardian" Bungie only planned on veterans shepherd-ing the new players to do all these quests/activities like a pet you would summon without any of the discovery or exploration that veterans did before New Light and had no idea how bland the experience would be if there were no veterans to taxi new players around. So I have to ask what was the design philosophy behind New Light and Free to Play in general? I understand that game design is hard "were it so easy - we'd all be doing it." But you guys at the studio make it feel like elementary with your pretentious ViDocs about the creation of a game type and how it is important that we do it right. Only an hour had passed with the release of Guardian Games before I had received an email from Bungie already popping champaign bottles at the 'successful' launch of GG. Meanwhile, I had received a notification that Kotaku had already posted an article detailing that "Destiny 2's Guardian Days Is Another Boring Bounty Fest So Far" It is apparent to me that you guys just fail to see any oversight on an idea before you put it out to be this bigger than what is activity. Stop. Work on core issues you guys know without any doubt are issues the game is having, enough of the implementation of ideas no one is even asking for, and stop with the pretentious rhetoric with TWABs and ViDocs and just talk to the player base. With the game going F2P I'm surprised you weren't taking notes from games that are doing it right both Warframe & Path of Exile when they are at their prime they can't be beaten when it comes to community engagement, feedback, and monetization strategies. Path of Exile has a community showcase for their seasons, their community manager posts videos on their official Path of Exile channel of fun and zany builds for the season, Warframe has a development stream detailing what the team will do come time for the next big patch, I mean hell, you guys were doing dev streams during Forsaken what happened to that?

This game was not designed around doing supplementary tasks as main tasks. This game was not designed around buying skins as loot certainly not buying skins themed around the activity surely. This game was not designed for a battle pass system where the player is forced to log in on hours like a job so that they get their money's worth on flawed and half-baked ideas for 3-months at a time. Stop. Stop. Stop. The game would be eighteen-thousand percent better if it wasn't free to play, it is not hooking most new players unless they have a veteran to taxi them and explain everything they should be doing, or they happened upon a guide detailing what to do, you have and overwhelmingly-large amount of posts as-well-as reviews telling you to stop doing this battle-pass system and yet you have your community managers saying, 'No, we're just going to continue doing this, however, we hear your feedback.' Enough of this passive language and talk to us, avoid this seasonal model and give your dev team time to iron out bugs, and focus on community sentiment if you don't this sub-Reddit along with your forums and other outlets are going to remain a place where the discussion goes to die and Bungie will continue to do nothing about a declining player base.

TL;DR I wish this game just went back to being a paid experience, Free to Play doesn't work for this games' longevity and Bungie insists on implementing features designed to continuously milk time & money from the player base despite the myriad of complaints arguing otherwise.

Yo Bungie, now that Mick Gordon is gonna have some free time on his hands, can you collab with him to make a track or two for Destiny in the vein of Sepiks Redux?

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 03:40 PM PDT

Ever since I heard the Sepik's Redux I've been waiting for at least one more song in that vein to get me pumped during a strike or raid. Misha Mansoor and his band are phenomenal. But If you could hire the mastermind behind the DOOM OST himself for a collab, I think you'd get a really unique addition to the Destiny atmosphere in-game.

Just tried out the evolved Seraph Tower event

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 07:46 PM PDT

It seems super unforgiving and feels like it demands a level of commitment that is hard to find when it comes to public events. EP definitely doesn't require this much coordination, demanded from people who are unable to be easily communicated with.

Idk man, this doesn't feel too fun.

Allowing NPC guardians to spawn in the open world would be amazing

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 10:00 PM PDT

I'm not sure how possible this is, but making people like Shaxx or Zavala or Ikora randomly spawn and kill ads in the open world would bring so much life to the game!

Imagine running a public event and hearing "THERES TOO MANY GUARDIAN IM COMING TO HELP" and seeing Shaxx run up and join you in the event. Or clearing a lost sector only to see Ikora nova bomb the final boss and explain how she's hunting for information

Even if it's a rare occurrence those moments would make the open world feel alive!

Sometimes, I wonder about what it must be like on the other end of the conflict.

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 01:16 PM PDT

POV: You are a cabal solider.

Your whole life you've been bred, trained, and raised for conquest. Your commander tells you your team's mission objective, seizing control of a satellite launch facility on earth for the glory of the Red Legion.

What your commander didn't tell you was the suicidal idiocy of your mission.

You jump off a thresher with your squad and lay eyes upon scores of your fallen brothers in arms, piled in heaps.

Your keen eyes spot the small party of guardians who have been laying waste to the cabal forces, while you're raising your weapon and firing your weapon, the guardian sprints up to your commander and punches him so hard his head explodes. Before you can fully process the sudden death of your commander, a hand canon round finds its mark on your forehead, sealing your fate.

In the fleeting moment you have while the life leaves your body, you wonder what the hell the point of all this was.

Blind Well is great for destination medals today. Multiple players, harmony buff gives super/ability regen, plenty of enemy waves for kills and laurel creation.

    Title.

Edit: yes, there's other options to do this. It's just a suggestion. Run whatever you want to do. I just enjoy always having my super and abilities up with the harmony buff, as well as being able to use it to rotate my super for the guardian games bounties and instantly get my super back for it.

Given the statistics, isn’t Guardian Games kinda pointless?

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 06:54 AM PDT

If the numbers had to be adjusted so hunters wouldn't automatically win, what's the point?

We're not competing to see which class is better, we're just taking an elaborate poll to see which class people prefer to grind bounties with. And if hunters make up the majority, don't we already have our answer? I like the idea of "guardian olympics", but I don't think running the same old bounties for the same old loot (mini-gun notwithstanding) has much of a value proposition.

HOWEVER, I'm going to add what I'm calling a "Positivity Tax" to my rant post.

Yo, Bungie. I like me that Officer Revolver from the bunkers. It go "pew pew" real nice. Well done.

    Edit: Spelling.
