    Destiny Wholesome April Fools Day

    Wholesome April Fools Day

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 12:03 AM PDT

    Howdy Guardians,

This year we want to fool r/DTGs visitors in a different way!

As we're sure you are well aware, the world is more or less in a state of lockdown and the time for jokes is best kept for the future when the Darkness has subsided.

Sometimes it's good to take a step back and remember that we are the light-wielders and the world is currently consumed by Darkness. The r/DTG mod team want to spread a little light:

As from this post, for 24 hours r/Destinythegame is now 'wholesome'. r/WholesomeDestinyTheGame if you will!

For this change we will open link posts and encourage you to share with us your Destiny related stories, images and just things that cheer you and could cheer others up in this dark time that are related to this crazy game world we call Destiny.

    What this means:

    • Link posts are now ALLOWED. Share with us your Destiny related images. This could be a pet named after something in Destiny, your Destiny themed Console / PC, play space or something Destiny themed you've being apart of.

    • Media submissions must be wholesome.

    • Images must be related to Destiny (try keep the titles as clear as possible, no click bait).

    • Wholesomeness is encouraged throughout the day :)

    • All rules are still active. This especially means Rule 3 (No memes) is still in play.

    • The rest of the sub operates as normal. Be excellent to each other

While in the past we've done various things as a joke or for a bit of fun, we believe this year is a better time than ever to have a day dedicated to togetherness and keeping the light shining through.

So wherever you are and whatever the current situation is in your area, we hope today can be a little less dark and bit more wholesome.

    Enjoy yourselves, Guardians!

    Focused Feedback: Time Investment

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 10:45 PM PDT

    Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding 'Time Investment' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

Warden of Nothing is honestly one of the best strikes in the game and its bossfight is underrated

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 01:22 PM PDT

Most of the strikes are pretty straight forward, go to place, there is pile of enemies, move to next place, there is pile of enemies.

Of course this strike by that definition is no different, but there is something about it that makes it unique. For one, you have 2 factions instead of the main 1.

Additionally, this strike has more than just 1 big boss. It actually has 3 bosses, and all of them are from different factions. You have big vex who has the trains in the environment aspect to it. You have the cabal boss with dismantle mines yes, and you have the fallen boss (who is actually a vehicle but it doesn't matter).

The thing about the bossfight however is people tend to absolutely just delete the boss before his actual fight can begin. I don't even recall when I had to deal with his eye of fire mechanic which is actually pretty unique considering 99% of boss mechanics in this game are "stand on plate" while this is "seek shelter" (broodhold boss counts too but it's not necessary and you can still survive).

Additionally the boss spawns more bosses, naming who they are making the mini Overmind and red legion bosses sound cooler. When instead of it's you vs the Warden, it's you vs the warden and vex and red legion vs the vex. It's super cool.

Also did I mention this is the ONLY STRIKE BOSS who ever talks? (xol doesn't talk in his strike). Add that to the small list of bosses in general that don't talk, because the only other are Calus and Riven in D2 (maybe Sedia but that comes at the end after she's not a boss).

Some of you may argue there is the corrupted strike, but my point was this strike is underrated, and people seem to like the Corrupted strike a lot anyway.

edit: the fanatic talks, forsaken best expansion

Calling it now - if the September expansion includes Siva, then Gambit and Gambit Prime will be reworked into a singular mode called Gambit Perfected.

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 06:45 AM PDT

Bank will be all Siva-fied. Drifter will use Siva himself to make Siva blockers or whatever.

How to play Destiny pvp, the shitposting.

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 12:01 PM PDT

Anyone can get Unbroken with these few easy steps! Ironically it involves breaking many of the promises you made to yourself as you started playing.

    1. There is no "Play as you want" find the meta and play it. atm it's hard light. get that and you are halfway to 5500/flawless already.
    2. T-bag every kill, the angrier you make the enemy the more mistakes they make. emote spam also good.
    3. Is something bugged or can be exploited? you use that shit.
    4. Oh, if you don't have hard light, fear not! there are many like it, Jötunn for instance. just get on Reddit and follow the salt.
    5. Grind for the godrolls of the current meta, Spare rations and Mindbenders etc. then become one of the indistinguishable perfect replicas of every other player of your class.
    6. Bungie will only fix exploits that hurt them, use them while you can, a good example is the stuff that could be pulled out of collections for infinite shards pre shadowkeep. very good for throwing 2000 shards at Rahool for that one roll you wanted.
    7. I'm not kidding, this game will fuck your standards faster than you can lower them.
    8. If you play Titan your name has to be xX(some name)69Xx ((i main Titan dont @ me))
    9. There are a few youtubers who decide the meta, they are henceforth known as the council and when they release a video you have to get the exact roll they are talking about. no other weapons/armor are allowed to be experimented with.
    10. I've spent some 2000 hours in this game and i can say for sure i'll spend 1000 more, but i wouldn't recommend the game to anyone. Also don't buy stuff for silver pls.

Too many sparrows, not enough reason for them

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 09:42 PM PDT

Destiny has too many sparrows, and simply not enough reason to have as many as there are. Yes, we travel from point to point with them, and use them in speed runs when applicable, but they just dont have a point. Since the shift to season pass, a sparrow as been the level 90 reward during each season. There isnt a point to them. You offer them for silver and bright dust every week. There are more and more sparrows each season.

All I'm asking, (is for a little respect (jk)), is...

PLEASE BRING BACK SPARROW RACING LEAGUE!

SRL was fun and a break from the grind. I loved it. But more than my greed of wanting the racing experience back it gave us a reason to have all these different sparrows. It could even be a whole season to give us a break from the crazy grindfest that the seasons have become.

So please bring back SRL, or stop giving us an exotic sparrow for our level 90 season pass reward.

"In multiple strikes, defeat combatants with Solar damage" - But it's fucking Arc Singe.

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 02:33 PM PDT

Stop this please. I've mentioned it in Rant Wednesday a couple of times but enough is enough, it's time this was addressed.

The game challenges us to "complete strikes using the same subclass element as the currently active elemental burn" but yet again the weekly bounty doesn't even have the common courtesy and decency to match it itself.

Way back in Arc Week you even made out like it was a big deal Zavala's bounties were themed around Arc, surely that's how it should be normally.
There's nothing to gain from that not being the case, it's just annoying. If there's a singe on I don't want to see an element that isn't that singe.

tl;dr BungiePlz: Match Vanguard elemental bounties to the current weekly singe.

As a new player - destiny is really fun

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 07:47 AM PDT

I hopped into the game trying to find something to play with friends.

It was easy to try out a few strikes and it was a short learning curve. It was easy to convince a few extra friends to join. Now we've got a pretty sizeable crew playing together. I'm having a really great time

I've played a few other mmos before. Guild wars 2, wow, black desert.

This game is the most fun so far because of the shooting mechanics. That's ultimately the building block for everything else.

The shooting mechanics make for fun raids, fun pvp and fun strikes.

The story's decent and the atmosphere is great.

I see a lot of complaints on here and get it. I've been there before with other mmos. The loot doesn't feel rewarding sometimes, the game isn't balanced, is too much of a grind.

If you're feeling this way, consider stepping back, play a different game for a while. It's a sign you're not enjoying the core gameplay.

If you're not enjoying the shooting, if you're playing for the ends not for the means, maybe just take a break until that itch comes back.

It's not that I'm bored of Garden. I love Garden. It's that I'm getting energy weapons for every drop, including the extra challenge chest. On all 3 characters.

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 08:43 PM PDT

I understand RNG applies to everyone to make it fair. But when you have 5 armor pieces and 7 weapons (5 of which are energy)... I feel like your drop percentages are lopsided.

Bitching complete. Have a good day.

I sure hope Bungie's #1 lesson learned from D2 is "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 08:08 PM PDT

    Title says it all.

So much changed in D2 that worked so very well in D1.

    -Factions

    -Iron Banner

    -Trials

    -Strikes/Strike Playlists/Strike Scoring/Strike Specific Loot

-Vendors (specifically the weekly rotation of perks, not really referring to vendor refreshes)

    -Gunsmith Wednesdays

-GOSH DARN END OF MATCH REWARD SCREENS

    -SHADER SYSTEM!!!!

The list could go on and on. I think I just finally figured out why D2 doesn't feel as "magical" as D1 did. I know we have so many better things from this game than we did before but it just doesn't hit me the same. So many core features changed just for the sake of changing.

Why the F did IB change so much?? It was such a good mode and had more variety on gametypes. The bounty system was great and the offerings of weapons and armor for each time it came around was always something to look forward to. Now we just have new quests each season to earn the same armor from before and we haven't had a weapons refresh in forever. The strong theme of IB has gone with it as well. It had a specific feel and look and now its just dull and boring.

Trials is finally back but the tokens and bounties system is so jacked. It was great as an average pvper to go in each weekend and get a weapon or two and maybe an armor piece and feel rewarded for my time even without going flawless.

Strikes have literally no place in the game right now. There would be nights where I would just sit down with a nice hot cup of coffee and run strikes for 2-3 hours and just have a great time. Now strikes are just a slog fest and a way to get a few powerfuls each week.

Banshee is boring as hell and his bounties even more boring.

I don't even enjoy visiting Zavala or Ikora (when I actually have a reason too, she has been completely useless for most of D2) RIP Cayde

Factions have been completely removed and I get the reasoning why but my point again, if it ain't broke don't fix it. It never should have been a monthly token event. They could have been normal vendors like everyone else and had minimal vendor refreshes. Just something to rank up like in D1.

I'm not at all whining. I still absolutely love Destiny and Bungie. Right now it just feels like Bungie doesn't love Destiny as much as they used to and players are getting jaded. We understand the limits that employees have and should follow and all the reasons some things have to take a back seat but so many complaints with the game could have been avoided if a lot of core systems in D1 would have been left alone.

Fingers crossed that this doesn't happen if there is ever a D3..

Bungie, assuming Destiny 3 is indeed in the works, if nothing else, allow us to retain our Titles / Seals.

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 08:23 AM PDT

Players have invested an absurd amount of time into Title / Seal hunting and it would be a great service to the playerbase as a whole if these Titles moved forward with our characters into D3 if it is in fact being made.

And the end of the day they are purely cosmetic and there is no reason why accomplishments such as these shouldn't be retained moving forward into the next iteration of the franchise.

Bungie´s idea of "you have to be there moments" is just flat-out wrong

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 11:30 AM PDT

I was there when we made portal to defeat undying mind over and over. And no it wasn´t a memorable event by any strech.

I was there when we defeat all three psions combined. Yes the boss fight was something nobody really expected - only because you set the bar so low in previous season.

The idea of you had to be there moments come from activities like whisper of the worm, laser tag weekend or 24:02 meme, or age of triumhs.

Some of these things happened naturally, some of them didn´t. Your idea of "you had to be there" moments is just wrong bungie.

I don´t care about almighty crashing down, because I already know that it will not happen.

You can force these moments - as it happened with whisper or outbreak perfected(or prime effectively speaking), but artifically forcing your playerbase into something they don´t want to do, just because you think it´s that "moment" just doesn ´t work.

Let me repeat myself: I don´t care about almighty because at this point in time its absolutely clear that we will remove this threat from the world eventually - and I don´t care how.

You know why moments like outbreak prime/perfected/whisper missions resonated so strongly within community ? Because it took effort. It wasn´t explained by anyone but the community, and when the reward came from the mission it was absolutely worth it.

Bastion was a great example of it(the gun is phenomenal in pvp) - but you fucked it up in PR department.

TL;DR: whoever designed outbreak prime/perfected/whisper/bastion quests deserves raise and those PR guys from last season deserve to be fired.

Destiny’s Story needs to start tying up loose threads rather than creating new ones.

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 09:35 PM PDT

Bungie said it themselves that they want a more unified story going forward... but i don't see it. Every storyline from forsaken to undying has practically been scrapped.

    Where's uldren?

Where's wish 15? When will we shut down the kill battery in the dreaming city? Like savathun has now apparently been growing stronger day after day and we havent even touched the dreaming city in over a year.

Where's savathun who's approach seemed as close as ever in opulance?

Whats up with ada? Havent said anything to her in over a year.

What happened to the nine? Are we going to get any more development with the drifter and the praxic order? When is our faction choice going to actually matter?

When is our position as calus' shadow actually going to make an impact?

What the hell happened to eris on the pyramid ship? Like holy hell bungie we got a whole scene dedicated to her communing with the darkness, but not a single lore tab or flavor text on it since.

Where are the other daughters of crota?

What's happening on the dreadnaught? Its not like the hub of the hive's power for nearly the entirety of d1 and a massive link to the ascendent plane is just going to go untouched for years. Have the siege dancers that invaded it turned to red legion? Are they loyalists now? How's their faction doing?

WHERE IS OUR NEW HUNTER VANGUARD??? This is something that hasnt even been mentioned since jokers wild. Like the vanguard is struggling and contemplating dissolving, when are we going to see this? One of this season's main npc's is zavala, but hes had no mention of the status of the vanguard thus far, and i doubt we'll see anything of it.

However what i want to see developed most right now is the fallen. Ever since Mithrax was developed more this has been one of the most intriguing storylines ive seen in video games in general. We have so many factions battling for house domination and NONE of it has been shown in game or in lore in months.

Where is Mithrax's fireteam right now?

How are they faring working with the fallen and probably having to hide their intentions from the tower?

Where is Eramis and the devils? I mean they quite literally assaulted the city and saw no repercussions in doing so.

Who is that nightmare "fear of mithrax" we fought on the moon? What happened between this fallen and mithrax and how did he die?

Who is the daughter of light?

Where is variks and what impact has his revival of house judgement brought to the system? Have fallen flocked to this new kell of kells yet or is he just tposing somewhere in the reef?

Who is in charge of siva and what are they doing in the plaguelands? From what i know, aksis was not the controller of SIVA, rather a dealer, a perfecter, so who's really in charge of it? Rasputin? His son felwinter? One of the seraphs?

What would be Saint's take on the house of light and our allegiance with them? How would the scorn of the fallen react when his mentor and inspiration brings his worst enemy onto his doorstep? What rifts will that create?

What's happening with siviks' brood? They're on one of the moon lost sectors but why? Why are they from siviks and not just more house dusk or exile fallen?

Where is any development on the fanatic? Like come on bungie... we have killed the fanatic thousands if not millions of times over... is there really not a single way we can imprison his lifeless body at the end of the nightfall before he resurrects again? He is one of the main contenders to lead the fallen and has been bested countless times, yet still remains free.

How will the fanatic react to uldren being a guardian? How ab the queen? Petra? The vanguard? Us?

Anyways im done with my ramble, theres just a very very small fragment of the loose threads i can think of atm in the destiny story, and the biggest shame is that i doubt barely any of these will actually be answered ever :/

Players did a real 180 on Revoker since it’s release, eh?

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 07:55 AM PDT

    https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/bu22fz/season_of_opulence_pinnacle_weapons/

Back when Revoker was first revealed, there was a lot of complaining about how it was a terrible Pinnacle weapon on this sub, featuring the usual not-so-humble bragging in the comments such as "lol who misses shots" or "why would I need RoF when I always hit headshots".

Fast forward almost a year and it's certainly changed. Looking at https://trials.report/ , Revoker has been the most popular weapon by far in Week 3 of Trials and has cracked the top ten on each map. Revoker has me thinking that maybe weapon sun setting isn't such a bad thing.

Edit: sorry if I'm reply bombing, quarantine has me a little bored and having a healthy discussion on one of the best Crucible weapons is fun.

Imagine how awesome it would be to actually fight in events like the battle of Six Fronts instead of only reading about them.

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 06:32 PM PDT

Imagine how much more interesting Destiny's story would be if we lived out events like the battle of Six Fronts instead of reading about it.

After seeing season of the worthy's intro cutscene, I thought it was a bummer we didn't get to go on the almighty ourselves again. There's not much substitute to actually living or being part of these cool experiences. Imagine how much less impactful the main D2 campaign would be if we didn't actually board Ghaul's ship.

Experiencing these awesome events in-game is what makes us excited about them. That triangle ship reveal? Amazing. A cutscene about the Almighty simply does not get us as excited.

About the title. If Destiny does eventually get a final "ending," I'm sure plenty of fans would love a prequel that lets us experience the amazing events that happened before we became guardians, starting from the collapse.

TL;DR: Experiencing amazing events with our own character is a lot better than seeing or reading about them.

Content creators need to stop putting leaks in thumbnails and titles

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 11:57 AM PDT

As someone who actively tries to avoid spoilers and enjoy what already little story content we get from bungie there's nothing worse than opening the youtube homepage and getting blasted with leaks in the thumbnail and title.

From what I can tell the rest of the season as well as potentially the start of next season has been leaked by data miners and some decent sized youtubers have decided to post those leaks in both the thumbnails as well as video titles for clicks.

I know this isn't all content creators and most people at this point don't care about the story but it's really kind of a dick move for the rest of us.
