Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding 'Armor Sunsetting' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

    Posted: 25 May 2020 10:05 AM PDT

You have 24 hrs to collect until the next time this magnificent mod gets sold. Good luck!

Edit: The reason why it's a great mod is because it gives +20 mobility on any arc legendary armour.

Also Ada sells mod components, 25 gunsmith materials & 3 legendary shards for 1 mod. On her 2nd page.

So, 2 weeks left for the new season to start... I feel like this season never existed, when are we going to fight the Almighty or something? Like, after more than 9 million seraph towers, I think there are enough warsats to destroy the Almighty. This is the most deviated season I’ve played so far.

Imaging that this is what our character thinks and sees:

"Gotta destroy the almighty. Wait, a Cabal entered Zavala's office? That's weird, but it gives you the 4th horseman back so okay. Now, back to action... wait... let me do a master nightfall. I couldn't do it. Anyways, let's get going... wait, race wars? Isn't that, kind of racist and deviated from the topic? I dont wanna pla- Oh an exotic!!! Oh Jesus, I gotta play this no matter what. Finally got it. 2 weeks later What's this, the lie? What does it sa- 9 MILLION SERAPH EVENTS?!?! Is that even humanly possible? Oh wait, it's less, thank God Rasputin has mercy, hey, at least we can see what this mission is about. Oh, so it's the Felwinter's lie? That gun? Wasn't it hated for being a sniper in the Pre-Red War Era? Ah forget it, but what does it have to do with the Almighty? Oh, so Rasputin is now emotional, when he has always been a dry and cold hearted guy. So, what's next ghost? Killing a fallen because why not? Oh, we have to do bounties... great".

Weapon sunsetting: Why just Last Wish and Garden of Salvation? Why not all raids since Forsaken?

    Posted: 25 May 2020 11:37 AM PDT

Has it been explained why Last Wish and Garden of Salvation weapons are going to be exempt from sunsetting, while Scourge of the Past and Crown of Sorrow are not? It'd be another 10 guns tops, I can't imagine it'd be that much more work. (Really, I just want to keep using my Threat Level.)

Dear Bungie, please create a title of SHERPA to incentivize experienced Raiders to teach more.

    Posted: 25 May 2020 02:20 PM PDT

Guided games was a really cool idea but there was not enough incentive to go into it week over week. If you let us grind the guided games for additional non-powerful drops from the raids while also adding more cosmetics, obtained via triumphs as part of the SHERPA seal, almost every experienced Raider I know would be grinding the triumphs and doing guided games a lot more.

Add Guided Games for all of the Raids at every level, but please make it a requirement to have completed those activities 3 or 5 times via LFG to become a Guide for each, and allow guides to start a guided games raid as long as a lobby has 3 people qualified to guide their chosen Raid, whether they are in the same clan or not.

Guided Games should be a priority for PVE in my opinion. Used correctly they can promote the sharing of knowledge and experiences in a positive way and reduce queue times for seekers.

Ikora could also be re-tooled as the Sherpa NPC with bounties and additional incentives to be completed as a guide or seeker.

    For Triumphs I was thinking:

1-7: a reasonable amount of guided encounters/completions of each raid, each of these could award a cool emblem themed to their raids.

8: a reasonable amount of guided first time raid completions, this could award a dope exotic sparrow with stealth running and speed demon which would make it highly desirable (Maybe the one I've always wanted, a transparent sparrow that looks like the glass from VoG, and that would be a cool nod to where it all began)

9: A reasonable amount of guided challenge completions across all raids, this could award a (transparent and VoG glass inspired) ship that matches the sparrow.

10: a large amount of 5 star ratings from Seekers that you've guided, this could award a transparent VoG glass Ghost shell that matches the ship and sparrow.

Please make it Grindy. The longer we have to work on it the better it is for the non-raiding community.

Like many others my Clan is bored so last night we made up a "Raid Crawl"

    Posted: 25 May 2020 01:08 PM PDT

It all started with a "What if" posed in our Discord and quickly snowballed into a full blown event.

    Rules:

    1) You must use all white gear, except for a green heavy as a white heavy does not exist.

    2) You can replace your white gear with any drops you receive from a raid encounter or chest. No world drops are allowed unless it is an exotic world drop.

    3) You cannot use any exotics that did not drop for you during the raid.

    4) All classes and subclasses are allowed.

    5) Raids are done chronologically from their release date, starting with Leviathan.

    6) All mods, artifact or otherwise, are allowed

    Optional rules:

    7) Hard Mode: You must use your most recently acquired gear, even if it is functionally worse than your currently equipped gear. Exceptions: If the gear would result in a double special scenario, or it would replace an exotic found during the raid.

    8) Harder mode: No exceptions to rule 6. Get rekt, nerd.

    9) Vanguard Dare: You must use a 2-2-2 team composition.

    10) Dibs: No two players can be the same subclass

    11) Rainbow: You must have 2 arc, 2 solar, and 2 void subclasses.

    12) Old School Cool: You cannot use middle tree subclasses in Year 1 raids.

As stated we only started last night and ended our night after finishing Spire (Incidentally my first clear) and will continue once we can all gather again. We followed all of the rules except for 8 because... OOF. We also decided that spending the Calus tokens we earned during our runs would be allowed to be spent, feel free to omit this part. It was wildly refreshing to not roll into every situation over prepared and over powered, actually having to plan out and organize things. Struggling and barely making it through some of the bosses was refreshing. I even ran it on my Warlock (I'm a dirty Hunter main) to "amp up" the challenge some more for myself.

I know the season is(has been) a little stale for a lot of us and this has been the most fun I've had in all of it so I thought I'd share our "cure" for the lull. If y'all are bored enough and have people with the will to do it, I recommend giving it a shot.

Using Data To Justify More Raids Annually

    Posted: 25 May 2020 07:00 AM PDT

During this down time, I remembered a comment from someone at Bungie some time ago that said something on the lines of - creating a raid takes too many of our resources for little participation of the overall community. That was hard for fans to swallow because raiding has some of the best moments and experiences in the game. You just don't find mechanics and gameplay that exclusively live in raids anywhere else in the game.

It was also hard for us to find validity in that statement because, well... how do we disprove that or find reason to justify? It has now become easier to do so with Charlemagne getting further access to the API with the introduction of the Fractaline donation. That was when the whole enchilada became available and she could parse every aspect across every account ever created. So, I went exploring.

With this post, I wanted to leverage the power of Charlemagne to see a few things:

    • Just how popular raiding is within the community
    • Which activity cluster (Raids, Vanguard, Crucible, Gambit) is the most popular
    • Of those that are the most popular, talk about resources provided within the activity clusters

    ...

    Just how popular is raiding?

Warmind.io is chalk full of wealth of information. If you haven't used them, I suggest you start.

The link above is specific to raiding. They have been tracking successful clears of each raid since Destiny 2's launch. We can get an accurate account of total clears broken down by week. Just using this week, sorted by popularity:

    1. Scourage of the Past - 20,348
    2. Garden of Salvation - 17,322
    3. Last Wish - 12,387
    4. Leviathan - 9,219
    5. Crown of Sorrow - 7,301
    6. Leviathan Prestige - 3,763
    7. Eater of Worlds - 3,360
    8. Spire of Stars - 1,798
    9. Eater of Worlds Prestige - 1,069
    10. Spire of Stars Prestige - 387

That's a whopping 76,954 groups of 1 or more that have completed a raid this week or... up to 461,724 characters have completed a raid ( the use of 'up to' because one character could have completed more than one raid and the use of "characters' because one account may have ran raids on multiple characters). And the number only gets bigger as we go back farther or closer to a raid's release. How does that compare to the entire community?

Well, Charlemagne has given us a total number of 39.4 million accounts they crawl for data. Using their data of triumphs obtained, we can see total accounts:

    1. Grow Fat from Strength (Completion of Leviathan) - 6.076% or 2,393,944 accounts
    2. O Murderer Mine (Completion of Last Wish)\* - 3.103% or 1,222,582 accounts
    3. A Whole Buffet (Completion of Eater of Worlds) - 2.936% or 1,156,784 accounts
    4. Valiant Savior (Completion of Scourge of the Past)\ -* 2.525% or 994,850 accounts
    5. Garden of Salvation (Completion of Garden of Salvation)\ -* 1.694% or 667,436 accounts
    6. Calus Has Spoken (Completion of Leviathan Prestige) - 1.481% or 583,514 accounts
    7. In the Shadow of the Kingdom of Sorrow (Completion of Crown of Sorrow)\ -* 1.372% or 540,568 accounts
    8. On Your Way Up (Completion of Spire of Stars) - 1.143% or 450,342 accounts
    9. Fine Dining (Completion of Eater of Worlds Prestige) - .784% or 308,896 accounts
    10. A Superior Retainer (Completion of Spire of Stars Prestige) - .350% or 137,900 accounts

\) did not include flawless as it is not a prestige version of the raid

That's a lot of people who have completed a raid in the 3 years this game has been out! Raids look to be a great investment as they add longevity to the game. They provided content for each player at each stage of their tenure of the game.

    • High-end players will accomplish the activity early on and provide guidance for future raiders in either sherpas, video guides, or repetition clears
    • Mid-range players and farmers will help spread the participation out over time, allowing for a pool of players to raid with and keeping numbers up
    • low-end players and new players will enter the pool over time, keeping excitement up for the activity and adding to the numbers of participants each week.

How does raiding stack against other activities in the game? Is it more, less, or as popular as the other 3 activity clusters?

    ...

Which Activity Cluster is the Most Popular?

This turned out harder than anticipated! How do I surmise which cluster is more popular than another? I decided to look at a few options

    1. Real-Time Activity - of the combined cluster, which has more participation percentage wise
    2. Triumph Completion - of semi-difficult accomplishment, which had a higher completion rate

    Real-Time Activity

    Clusters
    Vanguard* Strikes Nightfall Total
    Real-Time Precentages 9% 6.7% 15.7%
    Crucible* Quickplay Competitive
    Real-Time Precentages 9.9% 5.9% 15.8%
    Gambit Gambit Reckoning
    Real-Time Precentages 7.1% 1.3% 8.4%

At least under real-time activity, and as of May 24th 919,000 players appeared in population across all platforms, Vanguard and Crucible are dead even. Gambit seems to be trailing. However, this only gives us a current snapshot of what the playerbase is doing on a Monday morning

\) I only included the choices of each Vanguard and Crucible as they are representation of the mid-game to end-game content.

    Triumph Completion

Again, of the 39.4 million accounts Charlemagne tracks:

    Vanguard

    • Strikes
      • Strike Spleunker (Complete 100 strikes) - 3.457% or 1,362,058 accounts
      • Strike Specialist (Complete 250 strikes) - 1.140% or 449,160 accounts
    • Nightfall completions
      • Master (Complete Nightfall: Ordeal on Master difficulty or higher) - 1.501% or 591,394 accounts
    • Grandmaster completions - 46,203 accounts have completed at least one Grandmaster

    Crucible

    • Valor
      • Prestigious (Reset your Valor 3 times across all seasons) - 4.309% or 1,697,746 accounts
      • Right Back at it Again (Reset your Valor rank 5 times within a single season) - 2.169% or 854,586 accounts
    • Glory
      • Become Legend (Achieve a Glory rank of 'Legend' in any season) - .690% or 271,860 accounts
    • Trials - .427% or 168,238 accounts have obtained the Flawless Empyrean emblem (Emblem for your first lighthouse visit)

    Gambit

Gambit is a bit tricky to try to quantify... It originated with Forsaken, was upgraded in Season of the Drifter, then.... nothing. Both Gambit and Gambit Prime are still fairly new to the Destinyverse and there's no real good way to measure accomplishments. So for now, I will hold off using it as a comparison against the other 3 clusters. TBD!

So when comparing Triumph completions of Vanguard to Crucible, we see Crucible is more popular overall. This is striking as Crucible has had very little development over the last year an a half and yet Vanguard has gone through several iterations such as Nightfall modifier adjustments, addition of new enemy class (champions), brand new strikes, a new Nightfall type, and new Nightfall end-game. Where as Crucible has been side lined until this season.

    ...

    So are raids more popular?!

I would answer, Yes! If just looking at Garden of Salvation completions, which has only been available for 7 months, more accounts have completed GoS (667,436) than Master Nightfall (591,394) or hit Legend in Glory (271,860).

Even when looking at titles, Trial's Flawless title and Grandmaster's Conqueror title, if you don't earn them this season you have to reinvest your time again next season on different maps and different nightfalls, respectively.

    Final thoughts

The goal of this was to see just how popular raids are among the community and sure enough, over time, they end up with a higher engagement. After reviewing this and thinking more on it, I would even feel justified to suggest that two or more raids a year should be mandatory as the return on invest is huge. Just looking at this week's activity of Scourge of the Past, up to 122,000 characters completed the raid. Almost as many that participated in this week's Trials (according to destinytrialsreport.com, that number is 145,700).

Trials took almost 2 years to return, 2 years of some work being applied to it on and off I'd imagine. 2 years and less than a half of a percent has been successful getting to the lighthouse as of this writing. Where as some of the raids (Leviathan, Last Wish, Scourge of the Past, Garden of Salvation) are on pace to average one million first completions a year. I think this is more than enough justification to expect more than one raid annually

Bungie, for the love of the Traveler... SEPARATE. ARMOR. AND. WEAPON. ENGRAMS

    Posted: 25 May 2020 07:35 PM PDT

I am totally not the only one asking and TOTALLY not the first time, but despite telling "we hear your feedback" this request keeps getting ignored from like... Launch of D2. The current world loot pool is extremely bloated, it can get infuriating trying to grind a certain armor/weapon piece from prime engrams and continously getting Mos epoch III or memetic savior plate(random examples). Separating armor and weapon engrams AND make activities that drop specifically them will make the grind so much easier and rewarding. Also, can you lower Mos epoch drop rate at least a little bit?

I feel Bungie nailed Rasputin's voice on The Lie quest perfectly, and I hope his voice has more screentime in the next few seasons.

    Posted: 25 May 2020 08:45 AM PDT

Despite the problems The Lie quest had, once it was finally accessible, I couldn't help but just feel soothed by Big Red's voice. I was more interested in the way he was talking to us. And although it was mostly robotic reversed Russian gibberish, I couldn't help but feel...emotion from him. You could tell he was...sad. From the random pauses, and certain repeats in tones. On how he slowed down or picked up on certain parts and how he would drag certain parts of his lines to show..regret for what he had done.

    It was a beautiful experience.

Whoever did Rasputin's voice work in Bungie did an absolute splendid job portraying how he feels or how he could even obtain feelings and emotions as a warmind. I tip my hat off you.

I really hope I get to hear more stories directly from Big Red himself in the future seasons to come and see how he transcends himself into something more than an just an AI. Splendid job to the audio team at Bungie.

We already have enhanced mods. Why not make basic champion mods available for all weapons and then use the seasonal artifact to make enhanced mods available for certain types of weapons?

    Posted: 25 May 2020 06:52 AM PDT

I'm not a hardcore player but in my opinion being forced to use specific gear in the most difficult pve activities. I have a vault full of sweet guns that I have earned from quests and engrams over the last couple years so it just feels miserable playing nightfalls with forced, subpar loadouts, to the point that I just end up not doing them.

Hmm maybe I'll try out scout rifles or bows, a couple of the more underutilized weapon types so I can keep by distance and stay out of harms way. Nope, I have to use an smg and reload after every kill or 2 because it can't mow down basic nightfall enemies with higher health, let alone the champions I need it for.

What about all those sexy exotics with the potential for all kinds of interesting builds based about them? Too bad, the only option is Erianna's Vow because it has anti champion capabilities.

I think having basic anti champion mods for all weapons would be a great quality of life change and increase most people's enjoyment of high level activities. Bungie could still create a small meta or challenge for more dedicated players by including enhanced versions in the artifact so people most concerned with their damage and efficiency would have to pick specific weapons the way Bungie seems to want us to. What do you guys think?

I wonder how much of Shaxx is under his armor.

    Posted: 25 May 2020 09:41 AM PDT

The only conclusion I am reaching is that Shaxx doesn't wear any armor. The plate is just painted on his titan flesh.

Because I can't really imagine Shaxx as being any less than what we see. The human/awoken (he clearly isn't an Exo, right?) bod of Shaxx just can't be any smaller than that. His shoulders can't be smaller than those we see. His biceps can't be less thick than what is on display.

So my conclusion is - Shaxx's armor is fake or paper thin. WWSIWWG
