I recently stumbled upon this guy's channel and it's honestly amazing. Every entry is read so smoothly and so perfectly.

Pleeeease go check him out. It seems like such a waste for something so well made to have almost no views.

I HIGHLY recommend his reading of Unveiling, if you need an example.

So...just to be clear... It's weekly reset day. It's the last week of the season and all we're getting is a cutscene?

    Posted: 02 Jun 2020 10:16 AM PDT

I understand Bungie is waiting to tell us about the theme for next season, but we're all waiting for some closure to this season's Almighty storyline and we get no new questline? Unless I'm missing something there's absolutely no reason to log in this week?

Godrolls, good rolls, and cleaning out your vault

    Posted: 02 Jun 2020 09:43 AM PDT

Problem: Your vault is overflowing and you're not sure what to keep. You have a feeling you might have some great rolls lying around, but who has time to actually sift through them?

Solution: I have just finished rolling out some big updates to D2Checklist's Gear Manager to roll in /u/pandapaxxy's updated god roll lists (head over to /r/sharditkeepit or this post for a lot more info about those).

TL;DR Go to the site, https://www.d2checklist.com/gear/weapons, login, type "is:godroll" and "is:goodroll" and see what you got.

Finding God rolls (and good rolls)

There are a few magic search filters on the site, and two of the most useful are "is:godroll" and "is:goodroll". This will show all the guns in your inventory where each slot has a perk called out in Panda's spreadsheet as top notch (for god-roll) or one of the top (for good-roll). Note the Vanguard icon for PvE rolls, and the crossed swords icon for PVP. God rolls are gold, good rolls are black. Same rules apply at the masterwork and perk level (MW's are not factored in for overall item classification, if you have a god roll gun by perks and your MW is sub-optimal its still considered a god roll).

The site will guess whether you're keyboard and mouse vs controller based on your platform (Steam is assumed MnK, everybody else controller). You can use the settings to switch that if you want to.

Edit: Note that only legendary random roll guns are checked for god/good rolls. Your Randy's and Recluse and Xenophage are all fixed roll guns, so they aren't checked, as they would just spam up your list of rolls

    Doing stuff with your gear

Each item in your inventory can be tagged as one of Junk/Infuse/Keep/Upgrade. I personally try to tag every item and then use the "Tags = Unmarked" feature to find and deal with new guns I pick up. You don't have to do this of course, plenty of people just use the site quickly to peruse for god rolls.

You can move gear around by clicking on its icon. One neat option is the ability to compare by Frame and energy. If you see 1/4 it's saying "You have 4 guns in this energy/slot, and one is tagged for Keep/Upgrade". I often try to prune my guns and armor down to one each in those slots (though seasonal sunsetting is making this a bit more interesting).

    Shard Mode

The single most important reason I actually built D2Checklist was the "Shard Mode". This does the following:

    1. On your current character, clear all their unequipped inventory.
    2. Move all gear tagged as "Junk" into their unequipped inventory until we run out of space.
    3. Lock gear that's Keep/Upgrade, unlock gear that's Infuse/Junk

With this feature, you can run it over and over again while you, in game, delete all the gear on your character. (Be careful! You should still eyeball check things, if there's an API error and a good gun doesn't get cleared, you might delete it by accident, I can explain a technique I have for double checking this in the comments if there is interest). "Sync locks" does just step 3 above, and is handy to safeguard your god-rolls from accidental deletion.

    Upgrade Mode

Upgrade Mode is similar to shard mode, but it's all about infusing without wasting enhancement cores. D2 has a rule that if you infuse one copy of an item into itself, it only costs a small amount of glimmer, not anything more serious like an enhancement core. So the site will find any pairs of dupes tagged as Infuse and Upgrade, and it will move them to your inventory (after clearing it), locking the upgrade item and unlocking the infuse item. Then you can clear your inv, save some cores, and raise the PL on the guns you like.

    FAQ

Q: I've been using D2Checklist for a while and I have a lot less god rolls suddenly. What gives?

A: Until this change, D2Checklist was using a much more blunt tool for classifying god rolls, guns often had as many as four "god-tier" perks, since there was no concept of "good". So a lot of your old godrolls are now just "goodrolls". Your gun didn't get worse, the rules just got stricter. Additionally, D2Checklist was using Panda's older guides, some of which were months or even years old, and the sandbox has changed since they were written. One obvious case is how range has been devalued in Hand Cannons and Shotguns. Your old god roll just might not be the best anymore.

Q: Is this a gear manager that you recommend using 100% of the time?

A: Not really. Heck, I wrote this and I still use it in tandem with DIM. Use whatever you like.

Q: I disagree with what you called god rolls.

A: That's fair. I've decided to go all in on Panda's rankings b/c I'm personally not interested in being a full time gear tester. If you want to develop your own custom wishlists for your use, I suggest checking out DIM's wishlist features. If there is a critical mass of interest, I may, in the future, add support for pointing your own Google Spreadsheet that matches Panda's format.

Q: I don't want to sign into your site, are you stealing my data?

Most of D2Checklist.com can work just fine without signing in. Bungie's gear management endpoints do require signing in (otherwise any yahoo could move your gear around, not cool) [this is true of all gear mgmt apps and sites]. I'm not stealing any data, it's all between you and Bungie (other than your gear tags, which I save on my own server). The code to the site is open source, so you can verify this claim if you're technical and want to.

Q: I have a question, feature request, problem. How do I get in touch?

Having not seen the dorito ship cutscene until today and realizing that people are complaining about it due to "it not being enough" and "having already seen it" due to data mining seems silly and unfair. The slow build up is pretty cool in my opinion.

    Posted: 02 Jun 2020 11:36 AM PDT

Not defending Bungie for a lackluster season or for a reset that shows no conclusion to the Almighty (its still a thing I guess), but this growing story arc is pretty damn interesting if you go along with it as Bungie intended. Like I said though , purely my opinion.

I was pretty disappointed with Season of the Worthy like most, but this is getting pretty excited to see unfold.

Bungie, unless you are changing the way armor statistics work, why do we need to sunset armor?

    Posted: 02 Jun 2020 02:16 AM PDT

I understand sunsetting weapons, I understand Bungie's perspective, I understand the communities perspective. Still, I see no reason as to why armor needs to be sunset if there are no changes coming to the dynamics of how armor statistics work.

Sunsetting weapons to change the perk dynamics favoured by the playerbase? sure. But why armor? we will legitimately have to do the same grind we've already done, for an item we already had, that has no varying dynamic.

The Almighty is no more than 82,000 km from Earth now, less than 25% the distance to the Moon

    Posted: 02 Jun 2020 11:13 AM PDT

Today's reset saw the Almighty grow even larger in the skybox above the tower, and I wondered just how close it was.

TL/DR: depending on how large we believe the Almighty to be (best I've seen written is between 3,000 - 5,000 km long), we can estimate that it is between about 50,000 to 80,000 km away from Earth's surface, which is about 13% to 21% of the average distance between Earth and the Moon (384,000 km).

This is apocalyptically close. If the Almighty made it this far without getting blown up then Earth and the Last City would probably be screwed, but we'll probably be ok thanks to some Deus Ex Rasputin.

    Math proof below.

I took a screenshot of the Almighty in the skybox from a stream and measured the relationship between the diameter of the sun and the width of the ship. Interestingly enough, the width of the Almighty appeared to be almost exactly 7 times the width of the sun (nice one Bungie).

We need to use the formula for calculating angular diameter to solve this. Since the Sun takes up about 0.5 degrees in the sky, the Almighty being 7 times the width of the Sun from our point of view is about 3.5 degrees. We need to estimate the length of the Almighty in order to calculate the distance to us, so I used 3,000 km to 5,000 km as estimates because the width of Mercury - the planet the Almighty was consuming to kill the Sun - is 4,880 km itself). You can watch this intro cinematic (edit: that was the wrong cinematic, here's the shot of Mercury and the Almighty together from the end credits to the Red War campaign) for some reference, though it's hard to judge.

The angular diameter equation requires the Radians unit rather than degrees - 3.5 degrees = 0.061 radians. Balancing the angular diameter equation to solve for "D" (the distance between the observer and the angular object), given "d" (the diameter of the object) - gets us this:

    D = d / (2 * tan ( 0.061 / 2 ) )

Plug-and-play values for the length of the Almighty in km:

Length of Almighty Distance from Earth % of Distance to Moon
    3,000 km 49,095 km 12.8%
    4,000 km 65,460 km 17.0%
    5,000 km 81,825 km 21.3%

Well, that was fun, now I'll hurry up and wait for next season =D

If Phoenix dive allowed the same amount of control as ballistic slam prior to diving, it'd make PD 100% more effective as a getaway maneuver. Healing, as you dive behind nearest cover sounds like it'd make this neutral game a little bit more relevant as the super is the major draw to this tree.

    Posted: 02 Jun 2020 07:28 AM PDT

It'd also provide a tiny bit more relevance to equip vesper of radius as an offensive tactic. It'd allow you to use your rift similar to ballistic slam, and anything to offer this exotic ANY ability to be used is a good thing.

In addition, the benefits of Wings of Sacred Dawn would work pretty well if you could control your evasive maneuvers after becoming a sky target.Just thinking during downtime!

*may be a little strong with the healing, but honestly you're hardly ever high enough to get a full healthbar when in a pvp setting.

Weapon specific champion mods and sunsetting shouldn’t exist in the same game.

    Posted: 02 Jun 2020 05:49 PM PDT

With weapon sunsetting reducing the number of weapons you have to chose from to begin with, we shouldn't be forced into an even smaller loot pool of maybe 2-3 guns that can be used in master tier content. I personally don't have a problem with sunsetting but they should remove the mods from artifacts and remove champions if weapons will be sunset. Guns wont get a chance to be good, even if they are statistically good just because they can't equip the mods to deal with champions. On top of that champions are just a nuisance to deal with and take away from the gameplay experience, especially overload champions as with them teleporting around so often it is hard to stun them in the first place. Champions as a whole are just annoying till you stun them and then they just stand perfectly still while you melt them. They are not a good addition to the game, and you shouldn't be forced into 1 weapon type to take care of them.

Nightstalker 2.0 concept for Destiny 2.

    Posted: 02 Jun 2020 04:01 AM PDT

    https://preview.redd.it/rihp0cgo1b251.png?width=2666&format=png&auto=webp&s=827da4e1b019c43941e42e3feb379e4d47fc4d42

    The Cunning of a Nightstalker

For the Nightstalker, I leaned into the identity of hunting from the shadows as the pack leader or a lone wolf while stalking your prey. The Nightstalker is the only class in the game that can use invisibility and Truesight, so a lot of the new perks make use out of that. Since these two abilities are incredibly potent, I had to make sure that the risk/reward was skewed to require more effort to get your abilities going. Essentially, the amount of potential power requires you to be accurate and thoughtful with your abilities.

    Big Changes

Just like my other 2.0 subclasses, the Forsaken Supers can be activated by holding your Super buttons, similar to the current Ward of Dawn on top tree Sentinel Titan.

Since there are so many ways to go invisible, I had to keep all invisibility perks in the same node in order to mitigate stacking. It would be pretty annoying if some one could dodge, turn invisible, then throw a smoke and go invisible or dodge for invisibility and then crouch and snipe somebody to get Flawless Execution.

Because of this, Vanish in Smoke has been altered and Nighstalker will be receiving a new melee in it's place.

    Side note:

Any time you see "mark(ed) enemies", this means enemies will have an "X" over them. If a perk requires you to defeat a marked enemy, it means they either have an "X" over them OR they are highlighted by Truesight.

    Understanding the layout

The way the tree progresses will be similar to Destiny 1 where you unlock perks linearly. This version of the tree is the final form after you have unlocked all of the perks. The tree grows as you unlock perks, starting with the 1 grenade, 1 melee, 1 jump, and 1 Super perk. Then the tree expands to show the 4 nodes with 2 perks. You unlock 1 perk in each of those nodes, then you go back into the inner square and unlock another 4 perks, then you go back to the middle square and unlock the rest of the perks, then back to the inner square. After unlocking the rest of those perks, the tree branches out and reveals the outer square. You go around unlocking 1 perk in each node until you finish the tree.

The grenade and jump nodes all remain the same. The new node directly to the left of the central node is the super node and the node directly to the right is the melee node.

To understand the node layout, I will use directions as if we were looking at a compass and reading the perks in a clockwise fashion.

    Melee node

    1. Snare Bomb - Throw a Smoke Bomb from a distance with this melee ability. The Smoke Bomb sticks to surfaces and detonates when enemies are near, slowing and disorienting them
    2. Corrosive Smoke - Throw a smoke bomb from a distance with this melee ability. The smoke bomb slows enemies and damages them over time.
    3. Shadow Strike - A short distance teleporting melee that returns health on kill.

    Super node

    1. Flaying Strikes - Consecutive hits with Spectral Blades weakens the enemy, increases swipe speed and reduces Super cost. (This is for DPS on a single target)
    2. Moebius Quiver - Only change is that creating additional Orbs of Light and Heart of the Pack has been removed because those are now apart of other perks.
    3. Deadfall - Increases the range, duration, and number of enemies Shadowshot can tether.

    North node

    1. Vanishing Step - Dodging makes you vanish from sight for a short time.
    2. Vanish in Smoke - Hold RB/R1 to convert your melee into a Smoke Bomb that can be thrown from a distance. The Smoke Bomb creates a smoke cloud that makes you and nearby allies invisible. Hold RB/R1 to convert it back to your equipped melee ability. (Releasing the button after holding does not make you throw it, it only changes the melee into Vanish in Smoke. There will be an audio cue and your melee icon will change to let you know what melee you have.)
    3. Flawless Execution - Precision kills while crouched grants invisibility, Truesight, and increased melee range.

    Northeast node

    1. Shadestep - Turns your Dodge into a short distance teleport.
    2. Emergency Provision - Your Dodge recharges faster when critically wounded. Dodging while critically wounded releases a disorienting smoke cloud. (The smoke cloud will not slow you like the Snare Bomb does, it'll only darken your screen if you walk into it. The real benefit is masking your movement.)

    East node

    1. Lockdown - Increases the duration of grenade and melee effects. (Grenades maintain their 2X duration and melee effects get an additional 3 seconds)
    2. Pack Leader - Precision kills while Heart of the Pack is active extends its duration for you and nearby allies. Marked enemies are revealed to your allies.
    3. Shattering Strike - Invisibility increases melee damage. Melees while Flawless Execution is active release blasts of Void energy that weaken and suppress enemies. (This is an area of effect blast 5 meters around the player. The increased damage is 25% in PvP and 50% in PvE.)

    Southeast node

    1. Predator - Damaging an enemy with an ability marks them.
    2. Heart of the Pack - Enemies killed by abilities or while tethered grant increased Mobility, Recovery, Resilience, and increased weapon haste. (Heart of the Pack will only last 10 seconds instead of 20 now that there are more ways to activate it and maintain it)

    South Node

    1. Thrill of the Hunt - Killing marked enemies or defeating enemies while Heart of the Pack is active charges your abilities.
    2. Play in the Shade - Invisibility grants Heart of the Pack for you and your allies. Making you or your allies invisible grants grenade energy.
    3. Curse of the Wraith - Defeating enemies that are marked or while Heart of the Pack is active causes them to burst into Corrosive Smoke upon death. Melee ability damage recharges your grenades.

    Southwest node

    1. Gambler's Dodge - Dodging near enemies recharges melee energy.
    2. Marksman's Dodge - Dodging automatically reloads your equipped weapon.

    West node

    1. Blackout - Activating your Super disorients nearby enemies. Invisibility is maintained while using abilities. (Abilities include grenade, melee, and Super. Spectral Blades will remain invisible throughout its entire duration.)
    2. Combat Provision - Damaging enemies with grenades grants melee ability energy. Supers generate additional orbs of light.
    3. Entrapment - Snare Bombs and Shadowshot gain increased health and do not activate until triggered by an enemy. (This works with Moebius Quiver)

    Northwest node

    1. Keen Scout - Sprint and Sneak faster, and gain an enhanced Tracker with extended range while crouched. (Removed tracking from tethers as that is now a part of Predator)
    2. Night Vision - Enhanced radar tracking while invisible. Truesight and marks last longer. (The enhanced radar tracking will pinpoint the location of enemies on your radar, similar to when a Dawnblade is using Heat Rises. Truesight and marks will last an additional 2 seconds.)

When it came to balancing this subclass, it was a bit of a puzzle. This made me really respect the designers over at Bungie. Hopefully I can join them someday. Please feel free to leave feedback, just make sure it is constructive. Thank you for your time.

Remember in D1 when they had awesome teases for new content a few weeks before each release?

    Posted: 02 Jun 2020 10:16 AM PDT

The Blades of Crota before The Dark Below. The Ether Chests before House of Wolves. Taken enemies before The Taken King. And most importantly the Transmission Crisis (aka Space Aids) before Rise of Iron. Why can't we get some of that before each new Season now? That would be a great way to keep us busy when there's LITERALLY nothing else to do

Banshee is selling Dawn Armor Mod "Heavy Handed" today

    Posted: 02 Jun 2020 10:03 AM PDT

Banshee is selling a dawn armor mod today that was previously available from the Tangled Shore obelisk. If you didn't pick it up last season, you can get it today. He also sold it on May 15th.

Heavy Handed (7 Arc Energy): While Charged with Light, regain half of your melee energy when you use a charged melee ability, consuming one stack of Charged with Light. Secondary perk (active with at least one other arc energy mod slotted in the armor piece): While surrounded by multiple enemies, defeating an enemy with a Fusion Rifle, Shotgun, Sidearm, or Submachine Gun adds ammo for that weapon to your reserves.

Witness Rasputin's Full Power this weekend

    Posted: 02 Jun 2020 06:53 AM PDT

One of the emblems that isn't available to players yet is the "Seraph's Wings' emblem. If you check out the description of how you obtain the item, it says to 'Witness Rasputin's Full Power'.

    https://www.light.gg/db/items/1983519838/seraphs-wings/

Now, I don't know about you, but to witness something, that means I need to see it happen live. Not a cutscene. Not a trailer online. I'm talking an in-game, live event in the vein of Fortnite. The evidence for this is overwhelming at this point for an in-game event to be happening this coming weekend.

    1. Luke Smith has used Fortnite as an example of what he'd like to see as a transition between seasons. In his Director's Cut last August, he gave a theoretical example for Black Armory, where a countdown timer appears on the Traveler and when it hits zero, a plane flies in to the Tower and Ada-1 arrives. Players would then follow her to the Annex where she would unlock the door and kick off the Black Armory season. It would seem that this idea is being put into action with Rasputin's strike on the Almighty.

    2. Bungie's silence. Bungie doesn't want to spoil that there will be an in-game event until reset, when a countdown timer will surely be somewhere in-game letting players know when the event will take place (this weekend due to the ability for most players to actually witness the event and its proximity to weekly reset so that the actions immediately snowball into Season 11). There's been no trailer for Season 11 because it'll come after the event. Bungie has stated that they will talk about next season and Fall at the same time. That's June 9th, an hour before reset. There's no reason to hold back that long if they aren't doing a live event for players to actually witness.

    3. Bungie wants engagement. Some have said 'With the state of this season, it'd be better if they just didn't do a live event at all!', but I heavily disagree. This event could be the catalyst not only for the next season and beyond, but the standard by which players truly witness the lore playing out before their eyes, in game, not via cutscene. This is what we all really want isn't it? Imagine entering the Tower Sunday and it's dark. The Almighty is massive in the sky. The clock strikes zero, Rasputin fires, and chunks rain down on us, destroying parts of the tower and sending the Almighty hurdling towards Titan, where it either destroys the planet or heavily alters the playspace. And we can go to Titan right after the event and see those ramifications. That would be amazing!

All this is theory, I fully realize that, but I don't think you put the description of Seraph's Wings as 'Witness Rasputin's Full Power' if they have no intention for us to witness it. It falls in line with what Luke Smith has stated he wants seasons to be like during their transition. Hopefully we'll know later today a for sure time so players can plan to flood the Tower and watch things play out.

Bungie, swords are in such a great place now and are incredibly fun to use....but please for the love of God bring back Passive Guard.

    Posted: 02 Jun 2020 12:08 PM PDT

Swords are great but because of most boss mechanics (looking at you stomp) it's still way too dangerous to get up close to a large boss with a sword. Passive guard lets us do that. It's such a great mod. Preferably it would be great if it just became a part of the mod loot pool rather than a artifact mod, but I'll take whatever I can get.
