The regrind for the exact same weapon but just a higher infusion cap has already started. The worst parts of sunsetting combined with pointless grind.

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 04:51 PM PDT

Old weapons dropping with the new seasonal icons have a higher infusion cap than previously.

    Old Lonesome vs New Lonesome

Seems super pointless except to extend the grind for weapons we already have good/god-rolls for. How does this "help" with making the loot pool interesting?

Friendship ended with FIGHTING LION. Now WITHERHOARD is my best friend.

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 06:33 PM PDT

Are you some sort of sick fuck who doesn't like shooting things, and instead likes watching them slowly die? Me too. Hi, I'm Eldritchqueen, and today I moved on from the cocaine that is Fighting Lion to the meth that is Witherhoard.

Fighting Lion is a kinetic grenade launcher. Poor thing takes PRIMARY ammo. Pathetic. Witherhoard is the twisted deformed special-ammo-eating infant child of Dragon Breath and Anarchy's sick copulation. Shoot and forget. Witherhoard ain't something you need to have up constantly, it's just THAT good. You see a crowd of enemies coming towards you? Shoot the ground in front of them. The stupid motherfuckers will run right through it and create MORE blights. IDIOTS!

But there is a darker act. With enough grenade launcher mods, and perhaps an Ophidian Aspect with enhanced grenade launcher loaders, one can come unto true power by using Witherhoard as a fucking primary weapon. DO NOT BACK AWAY FROM YOUR COMPUTER SCREEN. I know power like this is scary, but please stay calm. You can litter the field with your disease-ridden, entropy-causing puddles of anguish and death. Someone in the air? Scared that the blight will spawn beneath them? DOESN'T WORK LIKE THAT! The blight spawns ON them, you hear me? This shit can bounce of WALLS if you want, do some crazy around-the-corner blighting! What if there are enemies right on you? SHOOT THEM IN MELEE RANGE! YOU WON'T TAKE DAMAGE, FUCKER, BECAUSE WITHERHOARD LOVES YOU AND YOU LOVE WITHERHOARD.

The power the Darkness holds is so very strong, friends. Reject modernity. Accept strength. Put away your Fighting Lions. Hail the true exotic breech-loading queen. Long live Witherhoard!

Liking season 11 a lot so far, but having to regrind an identical Gnawing Hunger 5 seasons after it came out is precisely the sunsetting nightmare people were afraid of

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 08:53 PM PDT

I love that we now have Gnawing Hunger in world loot pool, but my Gnawing Hunger from Season of the Drifter is capped is 1060 and the 'new' one at 1360.

Therefore, I'm not just going to have to regrind a reskinned gun from a few seasons ago. I have to regrind the EXACT same gun from a few seasons ago.

Please tell me to shut up if I'm missing something, but as far as I know perks etc. are identical.

Edit: I'm willing to give Bungie the benefit of the doubt (again). Maybe with the downsized workforce they didn't have time to make enough new weapons since they were working on the expansion(s). Maybe the old weapons are a bit of fan service for those who don't have those particular weapons yet, because they are nice weapons for sure.

It's just that I'm going to be pissed off of if after this season we still get old weapons, of which I have perfectly good versions already, but with a higher level cap. I'm not against sunsetting, but I am against sunsetting if this is how its going to be from now on.

    My character is soft locked

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 06:06 PM PDT

I had 10 umbral engrams in my possession before getting to the step in the quest where you take one to Drifter. Can't accept his. Can't use the decoder. Can't discard what I have. Can't store them. Anyone else run into this? Can we get this some attention from Bungie so they know about this problem?

Edit: this was fixed by going onto another character and looking in abandoned quests at the Drifter. Take the umbral engram, use it at the decoder, then switch back to your character that is locked. That character should now be able to use the decoder.

Edit: credit to u/whypayday2isagoodgam on finding a fix for this

Guide for the newest Daito Dungeon

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 06:26 PM PDT

    PROPHECY DUNGEON GUIDE

    • Recommended power: 1040 recommended up to 1060
    • Speak to Drifter to gain access to the Dungeon. Launch from tower.
    • Weapons: Any good kinetic, Mountaintop, Recluse, Anarchy, and pretty much any weapons you'd use in Pit. These are taken enemies so prepare for their shields accordingly.
    • Subclasses: Hunter, Warlock, and Titan together will work well. Have Hunter run tether, Titan Bubble, Warlock well. Hunter is probably the most flexible.

    Tunnel opening area:

The goal of this opening area is to make your way through the tunnels cleansing platforms. These platforms will have a dark or light aura on them. To cleanse these you need to kill orange bar knights while standing in either the light areas to drop light motes or dark areas to drop dark motes. Your hud will be either light on the bottom or dark on the bottom so when you stand in the shade you get dark and when you stand in the light, you get light. Take these motes to the corresponding platforms. To cleanse a platform use your grenade button or fire/trigger button. Cleanse 3 platforms to open a door, do the same thing in the next room, then make your way up to the next area.

    Encounter 1 Heaven/Hell:

Gather dark and light motes and cleanse the platforms with your trigger/weapon fire button grenade button just like before. Cleansing all the platforms will drop the boss's shield and you will be able to DPS. Once the shield is down open up on him and kill him. If his shield comes back, repeat the process.

There will be holes that appear around the arena. DO NOT GO INTO THEM. Use the pink plate in the middle to go to the next section.

    Wasteland:

Go to the areas with the 3 blights and destroy them. While doing this there will be ads and yellow bar minotaurs that spawn. After you clear every area a message will pop up on your screen saying "the way is open". You are looking for a big cube building of which there will be many. Find the right one to go to the next section(if someone could clarify this part for me that would be great).

    Encounter 2 - Hexahedron encounter:

Ads will spawn around the arena. Kill them and continue the light and dark motes process from before to cleanse the plates. The goal of this encounter is to cleanse the light or dark plates to turn the room and light up each section of the middle cube. Find the side of the room Toland is on and cleanse the plate beneath him using the same process as from before. Once the plate is cleansed, go to the middle plate under the cube and ride the lift up. This will flip the room and light up a section on the cube. If Toland is on the ceiling, find the side of the box with no symbol and cleanse it. Keep doing this till all sections are lit and eventually big centurion yellow bars will spawn. Kill them and this will end the encounter. Go back to the Wasteland.

    Wasteland Part 2:

Follow the immune enemy that spawns and find the next cube building that will take you into a trippy sparrow section.

    Singularity

The goal of this section is to make your way to the bottom jumping on the platforms and using your sparrow along the ribbon sections. There will be ads along the way as well as diamond buildings with ads in them. Make your way to the bottom to a platform that will carry you up to the boss arena.

    KELL ECHO BOSS

In this encounter you will be doing the same motes cleanse as before. 3 knights will spawn and so will 3 dark plates in the 1st phase. Kill the knights while you are standing in shade for them to drop dark motes then cleanse the plates. While doing this ads will be around to clear and the boss will be over in a corner immune and trying to kill you. Once you cleanse a plate an oger will spawn, kill it. Once you cleanse all plates, you will go to the middle and go down to a room with a bunch of platforms and the boss.

This is the time to DPS the boss. If the boss hits you in any way, you will get teleported back to the spawn in that room. Chase the boss along these sets of platforms while DPSing. You will have a debuff called dark entropy that will require you to keep moving and DPSing the boss. Once you reach the end, boss will leave, go to the purple plate you used to get out then that will take you to a different but similar boss room. Now there will be light platforms. Do the same thing as before but this time with light motes so stand in the light areas and kill Knights. Continue doing all this till the boss is dead. You will then go to the platform to be teleported to the end room with a chest.

If there is any issues, please let me know. I made this watching streams and haven't done it myself yet. I am willing to replace sections with more well written ones just like with my raid guides.

Edit: Clarified some things and cleaned up some sections with typos and such.

Edit 2: Title of post is wrong. Changed the starting part to be right but can't edit title. RIP. Close enough.

EDIT 3: CURRENTLY, DUNNO IF THIS IS A BUG, BUT THE DUNGEON IS FARMABLE ACCORDING TO SWEATCICLE. 6/9/2020.

EDIT 4: The toland section is the strat I saw Sweat use. If someone could clarify that section that would be fantastic. Supposedly when toland is on the ceiling, you find the side of the box with no symbol and cleanse that side.

Congrats to Sweat for world's first(if this is wrong lemme know). Awesome stream and being quick like you were helped this guide get made so fast. Congrats boys!

Why do I have to get another IDENTICAL weapon to the one I have now?

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 06:01 PM PDT

I don't post often, and I complain even less often, but I feel like something needs to be said about this.

I have an Arsenic Bite that I got the first week of Forsaken, it has nearly 45 thousand kills on it, Archer's Tempo and Rampage (the old static roll)

I love this bow more than my unborn child and I use it in everything from patrols to Nightfalls to Raids. Suffice to say it broke my heart to hear that it was going to be sunset. I spent the last month of last season using it more than I usually do (which is a lot to begin with) because I wanted to have my fun with it while I still could.

    Then it happened...

I got a legendary engram, and in it was an Arsenic Bite I had seen so many times before, but this one was different, it had a little Arrival symbol in the corner and it's max power was 1360, and my heart soared, my baby wasn't getting sunset after all!

But as quickly as it had taken off into the sky, my heart dive bombed into the ground faster than a Cabal drop pod. Upon checking my Arsenic Bite, it's max was listed as 1060.

    So...

For those of you who don't know, there are some weapons that got rehashes for this season, Arsenic Bite, Last Perdition, Gnawing Hunger, Steel Sybil, just to name a few.

When you get them, or view them in collections, they say their max power is 1360, usable for a full year from now. But this does not apply to the exact same weapons that already exist. The perk pools haven't changed at all. So for example, if you have a god roll Last Perdition that you use in endgame stuff, you have to farm for another one of the same exact roll in order to keep using the weapon in endgame.

    This is really, really stupid.

Why do I need to throw thousands of shards at Rahool to get a bow EXACTLY THE SAME as the one I have now just to be able to use it in the future? What happened to respecting the time, and the thousands of kills, I have put into this thing? It's a massive spit in the face to not only sunset my favorite weapon, but then say "you can still use it but you have to farm a new one that's IDENTICAL to the one you already have, and none of your kills will carry over." What the fuck is the point in even sunsetting these weapons if you're just going to make a brand new version of it that is exactly the same as the old one???

I'm really hoping this is a bug and it was supposed to apply retroactively, or at the very least let me apply the new version of the weapon to my current one with some kind of infusion to make it swap to the new Light cap. Seriously, I would use 10 Ascendant Shards to make that happen, or maybe one of these new Exotic Cyphers. Make Ikora able to do this, it would give her something to do.

Please Bungie, do something to show you actually do respect and care about the time people put into your game.

[Edit: I would like to say that I don't hate sunsetting as a whole, I'm certainly not thrilled about it, but I can live with it if they truly think it's best for the game. My issue is them sunsetting our gear only to make us farm for the same shit all over again, either sunset it or don't, but don't fucking do both]

Helping my Son get Felwinter's before seasons end.

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 04:53 AM PDT

My sons and I were playing destiny last evening and my younger son says "Dad can I still get Felwinter's Shotgun tomorrow after reset?" I said "No it is gone at 1 pm tomorrow" The look on his face when he said "okay" hit me in the feels. I asked him what step he was on. 1000 kills, not started. Wife calls down "dinner time!". So we are sitting at dinner and I decide to help him out. "Son, after dinner how about I go get those kills for you" So I hop on to his account and set up a top tree tether hunter with as close to 9 sec dodge cool down as I can get. I grab two shotguns and Tractor cannon. Put on scavenger mods, and a heavy ammo finder. I head into the Castellum and set to work. Took about an hour, but I knocked it out. I could have gone a number of places for faster, similar progress but I like the Leviathan environment. I called him down as I was flying to the moon. He when through the last two steps, watching and listening to Ana Bray tell Rasputin's story. The look on his face when he grabbed Felwinter's Lie reminded how much I enjoy playing with my sons. I also told him that I finished his Tractor Cannon catalyst along the way. Wanted to share, and thank you for reading.

Edit 1: Thank you kind guardians for the Awards. And thank you to everyone for the kind words.

Edit 2: Thank you for the additional awards! You guardians are wonderful.

Building a Viable Future in Destiny 2

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 09:39 AM PDT

    Source: https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/49189

    TL;DR

    • Destiny 2 is too large to efficiently update and maintain.
    • The size and complexity of the game are also contributing to more bugs and less innovation.
    • Instead of building a Destiny 3 and leaving D2 behind, each year, we are going to cycle older, less actively played content out of the live game and into what we're calling the Destiny Content Vault (DCV).
    • This will allow us to add to and support D2 for years, including the three new annual expansions we announced today, starting with Beyond Light this fall.
    • The DCV will include all content from Destiny 1 and anything that cycles out from Destiny 2.
    • We will bring back (or "unvault") activity and destination content from the DCV each year.
    • Unvaulting starts in D2 Year 4, with the Cosmodrome coming back, as well as its three strikes and the return of the Vault of Glass raid.
    • The primary D2 content leaving the game and going into the DCV this fall are the destinations – Mars, Io, Titan, Mercury and Leviathan – and their supported activities.
    • There will be new ways to earn the Exotics originally linked to content that has entered the DCV.
    • When Beyond Light ships, the Director will have the following destinations:

      • Europa (new)
      • Cosmodrome (unvaulted)
      • Moon
      • Tangled Shore
      • Dreaming City
      • European Dead Zone
      • Nessus
    • This approach allows us respond to player feedback more rapidly, enable more innovation, and will keep Destiny 2 and your characters thriving for years to come.

    • More details to come soon and throughout the year.

Building aViable Future in Destiny 2

Earlier today, we laid out a vision for Destiny's future, built right inside of Destiny 2. A future where we maintain your characters, accounts, and continuity with our game systems and build on each of them for years. This fall ushers in a new era in Destiny's journey, launching off a trilogy of expansions where your Guardians will explore the true nature of Light and Dark:

    Image Linkimgur

Put plainly, we are investing in Destiny 2 for years to come. But to continue your Guardian's journey and deliver on this roadmap, we need to make some changes to our ever-growing world so it can flourish.

    The Limits of Growth

Over the past couple months, we've mentioned the problems that come with maintaining a game the size of Destiny 2; and we've said that it cannot grow infinitely. After three years of non-stop growth, the scope and complexity of Destiny 2 has ballooned to unprecedented scale.

As of this writing, Destiny 2 features nine destinations, 40 story missions, 54 adventures, 42 Lost Sectors, 17 strikes, 31 PvP maps, 12 one-off special activities (like Menagerie or Zero Hour), seven raids, six Gambit arenas, three dungeons, many, many quests, patrols, public events, and of course, thousands of associated rewards. All of that, plus hundreds of game systems which layer on top of that content.

This unrelenting growth has resulted in a game that requires players to download up to 115GB to play, as well as huge patches tied to frequent updates. And those numbers are rising rapidly, as we've been adding approximately 25GB of content each year to Destiny 2 since launch. Those sizes not only stress hard drive capacity but also push the limits of patching capability. It also makes the time to generate a stable update for the game after all content is finalized, tested, and ready to go balloon to literal days instead of hours.

Worse still, that 115GB includes a lot of content that isn't relevant anymore – and can't remain relevant – as we evolve the world and introduce new experiences that will take center stage instead. For example: Warmind's campaign represents only 0.3% of all time played in Season of the Worthy and yet the Warmind Expansion accounts for 5% of our total install size. This dramatic imbalance between player engagement and overall cost to maintain is found in a lot of our legacy content.

    Impact on the Live Game

Maintaining that much content in perpetuity slows down our ability to update the game with fresh experiences, reduces our ability to innovate, and delays our reaction to community feedback. The test surface alone is massive, to say nothing about how it impacts our designers, artists, and engineers trying to make cool new stuff every day under the weight of the crushing complexity of our scale.

Unfortunately it also means that we sometimes ship content that doesn't meet the quality bar we've set for ourselves and that our players have come to expect. Recent examples are the issues with Felwinter's Lie quest or when we had to perform our first-ever rollback of player progress due to a bug.

Our ambition is for Destiny 2 to be the best Action MMO in the world and that means being far more agile and nimble than we are today. But the simple fact is that our game's size and complexity prevents us from improving Destiny as fast as we – and you – would like.

    The "Destiny Content Vault"

With Destiny 1, we solved the "ever expanding, exponential complexity" problem by making a sequel in Destiny 2. We left behind all of Destiny 1's content and many of the features players grew to love. We believe now that it was a mistake to create a situation that fractured the community, reset player progress, and set the player experience back in ways that took us a full year to recover from and repair. It's a mistake we don't want to repeat by making a Destiny 3. We don't believe a sequel is the right direction for the game and for the past two years we have been investing all of our development effort into new content, gameplay, and new engine features that directly support a single evolving world in Destiny 2.

To create a sustainable ecosystem where the world can continue to evolve in exciting ways, and where we can update the game more quickly, we're going to adopt a new content model that we're calling the DestinyContent Vault (DCV) . Each year, usually at the expansion boundaries, we will cycle some destination and activity content out of the game (and into the DCV) to make room for new experiences.

The first cycle of Destiny 2 content going into the DCV begins this fall, with the appearance of the Pyramid ships in Season of Arrivals and the Beyond Light expansion, which we revealed today. Those events will usher in dramatic changes to the Destiny universe, affecting characters, destinations, and Guardians for years to come.

To set a new maintainable foundation for the game this fall and to create room for BeyondLight and the future roadmap, the first Destiny 2 deposit into the DCV will be larger than those to come in the future.

    Curating the Vault

Content that goes into the Destiny Content Vault may return in the future, altered (if necessary) to fit the new state of the universe. Furthermore, we consider all Destiny 1 and 2 destinations and activities part of the new DCV and we're going to be pulling from that archive – revisiting some of the most interesting places in Destiny's history – from now onwards. It's why the original Destiny 1 Raid – the Vault of Glass – will be returning to Destiny 2 in Year 4.

Going forward, our explicit goal will be to try to keep the scope and scale of Destiny 2 at a relatively consistent size in order to increase our agility and to be able to properly support and maintain the game. Over the course of each year, the game's content scope will grow as we add new destinations and activities in our expansions and Seasons. As we approach the next expansion, another cycle of content will go into the DCV to make way for a new influx of destinations and activities.

We will always do our best to give early notice of what's being cycled into the DCV, to help you and your friends plan around how you want to complete your collections and build up your account before the new Destiny year starts. The vast majority of content we choose to vault will also be from destinations and activities that have been free for all players for several months prior to their departure. For example: the Curse of Osiris campaign, which has been free since Shadowkeep launched in October 2019, and part of the Destiny 2 experience since December 2017, will go in the DCV later this year.

    Year 4 Destiny Content Vault

    Preview

Here is an early preview of some of what's going into the Destiny Content Vault (DCV) and what's returning in Year 4.

    Returning from the DCV

    • On September 22, 2020:

      • Cosmodrome as a selectable, explorable destination (but not yet at full Destiny 1 parity on 9/22).
        • Note: We're looking to leverage Cosmodrome's initial return to expand the new Guardian origin story to the world of Destiny. Veteran players will be able to experience that story as well.
        • Cosmodrome's Will of Crota strike will also be added to the strikes playlist for all players.
    • During Season 13:

      • Cosmodrome will be fleshed out to roughly Destiny 1 Year 1 parity.
      • Cosmodrome's The Devil's Lair and Fallen S.A.B.E.R. strikes return.
    • During Year 4:

      • Destiny 1's first raid, Vault of Glass, returns.

    Heading to the DCV

    • On September 22, 2020:

      • Io, Titan, Mercury, Mars, and Leviathan will be cycled out and no longer be accessible.
        • This includes all PvE activities (including campaigns) on those destinations.

    Other Key Year 4 Details:

    • There will be three raids playable this fall, including a new one set in the Deep Stone Crypt on Europa as part of the Beyond Light expansion.
    • There will be new ways to earn Exotics originally tied to destinations and activity content that have entered the Destiny Content Vault.
    • Available strikes will be based on a pool of possible strikes from active destinations. When a destination goes into the DCV, so too will its strikes.
    • The PvP Map playlist will remain a curated 'best of' mixture of maps from Destiny 1 and 2.
    • Gambit and Gambit Prime are being merged into a single mode, with their original armor visuals available to earn from the Drifter.

To be clear, the DCV does not apply to any weapons and armor in a player's inventory or vault. The DCV is about activities and destinations. We know you will have a lot of questions about how this will work. We will share more updates about our content plans throughout the summer. This includes a detailed overview of everything changing via patch notes, extensive DPS articles that will help break down what's changing and when, as well as lots of opportunities for you to ask us questions along the way.

    A New Beginning

This fall, we will begin delivering on the future of Destiny by making way for new adventures, locales, and stories dreamed up by our creative team, and forging the truly evolving world that it was always meant to be. These changes allow us the freedom to finally weave an overall experience for the Destiny universe that can truly live, starting with BeyondLight . We can now fit puzzle pieces we haven't been able to pick up since the beginning of the original Destiny – including the true nature of the Darkness and Light and how such power will change you as a Guardian. We can now bring some of the greatest experiences in Destiny to the forefront of the current game alongside new ones to come.

The past six years, we've seen the Destiny universe grow and our community along with it. We want our quality of service to grow in kind, to be able to react to community feedback quicker, to innovate more often, and to continue to tell new stories with your characters. We're excited to continue that journey with you.

    Oh fuck me.

Its a 4 wave event involving the banking of motes from killing enemies, Culminating in a 4th wave with a boss.

It has high red level champions who will block the bank.

Completing a wave adds back time.

No matter how much I hate the state of the game these trailers always hype me up so much

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 09:41 AM PDT

I'm not sure I really love the idea of having "vaulting" older content, though I really love the idea of "unvaulting" Destiny 1 content.

On top of this..in a way, I still hope they gonna make another Destiny 3 game one day and build it on a better engine to support it for how much long they want, without this delete content limitations.

I want to BUY content, I don't really want to Rent.

New Stasis subclass will have a customizable tree

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 10:16 AM PDT

This is as per Luke Smith in the Dr.Lupo Q&A. The subclass will not be like the Solar/Void/Arc subclasses, where the perks are batched together.

They're pretty expensive, but seeing as it looks like we only get anti-barrier for ARs this season, it's definitely nice for people without EV to finally get it.

Let us know if transmogging will use collections or physical armour BEFORE the destinations go to the DCV

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 08:02 PM PDT

Bungie, please let us know how transmogging will work well before the DCV is enacted.

Do we need to have the armour physically? Or is collections where we transmog from?

With all these locations disappearing, I dont wanna miss out on being able to transmog some of the cooler looking armour from the destinations if I need physical versions.
