GG Bungie. This is what a season should be.

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 09:53 AM PDT

For all the shit they took last season (well deserved on many fronts) Season of the Arrivals is what a season should look like moving forward. Season of Dawn was very solid but this goes above and beyond IMO. Is it perfect, no. However its a very good blueprint to move forward with especially the story telling and evolving world aspects. Do I like having PE's as the main loop, no but Contact is way better than the towers and actually quite fun IMO.

Edit: For clarity I'm talking about seasons under Bungie as a self publisher (IE Shadowkeep and beyond). Yes season of opulence was fantastic but was created in a completely different atmosphere under a different release model with 3 development studios working on the game.

Edit 2: Yes undoubtedly some people are never happy with anything.

If you die to the zero ammo DoT while blocking with a Ruinous Effigy orb, you should get turned into a fresh void orb for the next person to pick up.

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 05:11 PM PDT

I guess similar to Queenswalk? Conga line of orbs.

For those going after eyes, here is a good tip l.

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 07:56 AM PDT

Each planet has 10 eyes and whisper and prophecy has 5 each. So complete one planet, check your count, if it's in tens only then move to next planet. This will save you from messing up and backtracking on each planet to find the one you missed.

Edit : same goes for calcified fragment too. IO has 10 and mars/mercury/titan 5 each.

Huge props to the designers of Ruinous Effigy

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 04:55 AM PDT

Literally my new favorite exotic. Not only is it unique, its hilarious to use in PvP and very strong in PvE. I literally had people fighting all morning over the transmutation orbs in contact public events and strike runs.

Thank you Bungie, this exotic should be the staple and inspiration for what weapon exotics are like moving forward. Between Witherhoard and now Ruinous Effigy the exotics have been fire this season.

I unironically still use monte carlo.

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 01:29 PM PDT

I play titan. I like punching stuff. Monte Carlo likes when I punch stuff. I like when Monte Carlo likes that I punch stuff. Thank you for attending my ted talk.

Edit: I play on console and on console the recoil is a little heavy.

The biggest lesson Bungie should take away from this season is the value of a sense of discovery

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 11:56 AM PDT

In the build up to this season and even in the reveal stream, we as players knew next to nothing about what was coming (dataminers and leaks aside).

A ton of the best content in this game has been secret. The various Whisper-type missions, etc. And it was refreshing this season that - rather than being fed basically the entire plot and upcoming content - we got a super high-level season name and broad idea about it involving the pyramids.

We weren't told about the vast majority of the stuff that has come with this season or when it would come, and so many posts on here every day are excitement at the latest discovery or unlockable.

Destiny as a game is at it's best when it feels like a world to explore and learn about, not when it's a well-defined and clearly plotted out grind-fest. We need the grind and loot to make the game worth playing, but it's always cool to not know how we're going to be grinding or what content we'll have to do it.

Bungie really knocked the aspect of discovery out of the park this season and it's completely addictive to come back each week with new things to discover.

    Effigy meets phalanx shield

Armor pieces that have reached their infusion cap need to give a full refund on masterwork materials

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 05:33 PM PDT

Ruinous Effigy is fun but its Masterwork I feel overlooks one thing - Using a Transmutation Sphere and getting a multi-kill should create an orb of light. Currently does not.

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 05:46 AM PDT

That's all I feel should be changed.

I love this weapon, using the power of ''dunk'' (Cayde: It's a guardian thing, you wouldn't understand) against our foes.

I really enjoyed seeing Eris and Zavala talking before my eyes. For the first time I can remember in Destiny I felt immersed.

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 11:05 AM PDT

Also good to see Zavala being a little more lax.

    I LOVE "world bosses"

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 01:44 PM PDT

I enjoy HVTs but they are way too fragile to be fun.

The Ruinous Effigy quest introduced me to the roaming Taken bosses (and Marionettes) and I love engaging these. I enjoyed world bosses in WoW too and this finally gave a similar feel.

From the massive Ogre and his Wizard friend, to the Taken Knight brothers to the Incinerator. Small little mechanics, and more health. It's perfectly enough. (Though if Bungie wants to go bigger I'd be down too)

I think these are super fun and HVTs should be upped to their level. I also really like that there Champions thrown in there too. Marionettes were made for the quest/this season but I think the roaming patrol bosses going forward could also involve or just be Champions. It adds a baseline level of difficulty and makes it so you can't as easily roflstomp them.

Please, more threatening enemies like these in zones. It makes the worlds feel like we aren't in control of them.

Also, they don't advertise themselves on the HUD which means newcomers aren't drawn to them, which means 1) they don't mess up your kill 2) don't die by engaging something out of their league.

    Dear Bungie

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 07:24 AM PDT

The new dialogue between people like Eris and the Drifter and others is AMAZING this patch <3

Everyone went from sounding like la de dah just send in the guardian its whatever. To actually sounding like shit is about to hit the fan and they actually care, and have some.....shock. Character.

    More of this plz <3

The way they’re doing the age of triumphs for raids is honestly really nice

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 09:30 AM PDT

I don't do raids mostly cause they take a lot of time and I'm just relatively shy (mostly since I wanna do them with friends instead of just random people) but with the age of triumphs releasing rewards for just completion of raids (shaders, ghost shells, unlimited attempts at raids to get gear) it really feels like a nice way to send off these raids. I was able to convince my fire team to try the raids out and I was able to get Anarchy in Scourage. I recommend anyone who hasn't done the raids to give them a shot and muster up some courage to ask for help. Destiny is known for their raids and honestly I'm glad I got to do one with my friends

If you want to get the Mountaintop quest done, this week (and this season in general) is the one to do it

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 08:19 AM PDT

This week, Zavala gives you the curated Militia's Birthright for completing the new bounties on IO/Titan
It has Proximity Grenades and Quickdraw, not too shabby

Coincidentally, this week is also Momentum Control in Crucible

Even more coincidentally, you can pick up a Martyr's Retribution (wave frame tube GL) from Umbral Engrams this season

(do you see where I'm getting to here)

basically just stack the curated Militia's Birthright, an autoloading Martyr's Retribution, any heavy GL, and GL scavenger/loader and go to town in Momentum Control

took me about an hour or two to knock out the double kill requirement for the quest

if you've been wanting get Mountaintop to just check off another quest or use it before it gets sunset next season, now's the time

The pyramid on Mercury shows up in missions with Simulant Present.

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 05:33 PM PDT

Either an oversight or a super cool addition to the Simulant Present part of mercury in the Tree of Probability strike, but the pyramid of Mercury shows up there too! You can't see the sun peeking out nearly as much as in patrol, so I think they updated the skyboxes there too, really cool addition on the part of the design team. Wonder what the simulant future looks like...

If you hate trials but are going for moments of triumph and solstice read this

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 12:48 PM PDT

To anyone who is not a big fan of trials but they want to finish this moments of triumph title and plan to do solstice, just wait until solstice is active to do this part.

Reason being, based on leaked details you will have to get 7 general wins in trials for the armor anyways for solstice. So if you want to limit how much you do trials. Just wait till then.

I imagine that's why it is featured in moments of triumph to begin with.

Ruinous Effigy Shield Altars Of Sorrow

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 08:11 PM PDT

So I went inside of the enemy spawn bubble and i found out that I can keep the shield up on the Ruinous Effigy Transmutation Sphere and I can steal all of the kills for a short time.

Today, I found my raid team

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 01:20 PM PDT

When the new triumph event came out I decided to hop in and do the leviathan raid for the triumph. I saw a post of a guy wanting to learn the raid and joined, 3 raids and a few hours later it was like we'd known eachother for ages.

We finished with spire of stars and despite none of us knowing what to do we managed to one phase it and we all got the emote, so we took a nice screencap here (I'm the Titan in the back right in the moon-fang gear)

    You guys are awesome
