I reckon' it's about time to feature one of the fastest animators in the west. You may have recently seen some of his animation work in a pretty awesome montage, or in a few cool images floating about on Twitter. But if you've had the high-noon sun in your eyes and haven't seen any of their work, prepare for some beauty.

    Enter: Drexis.

Welcome to the Community Focus. Tell us a bit about yourself.

Drexis: I'm honored to be here. For starters, hello there! My name is Drexler, and I'm most known online for my Destiny themed animation projects and 3D art, like my cinematic video "Collapse":

    Video Link

I love space, lore, memes, and music (little known fact, I actually play guitar!). I started playing Destiny in 2015, on Christmas day. Though, I had been eyeing the game for about a year before that. Once I got into it, my best friend and I would play almost every day. I'm still addicted! Other than my hobbies and Destiny obsession, I hang out with my brother and sister, and my doggo, Shasta. She's super sweet.

    Image Linkimgur

While I admit I'd seen you around these parts for some time, you definitely caught my eye with a certain… Vex piece. How'd you get into animation?

Drexis: I started animation with Minecraft animations when I was 12 years old. I was so very bad at it in those early years. I made some friends online that were better than me at everything in 3D. A few of them are still my friends actually – shout-out to Harry, who participates in my present-day clan shenanigans in Destiny 2! Anyway, I was a 'Minecraft animator' until early 2018, when I saw a YouTube video featuring some Destiny animations by Sami Glitch. I had been playing Destiny for a few years so I leaped at the opportunity to make Destiny-themed animations. I started learning more about 3D, more about art and animation, than I ever had previously. Destiny inspired me to want to pursue a career in 3D art, and I still hope to someday soon.

Have any examples of your work from the early days? Show us how you've grown since you started.

Drexis: Back when I made the creations below, I was hand-texturing low-poly game models myself, and the quality suffered quite a bit from my lack of 3D knowledge at the time. Here's some of my earliest Destiny renders and animations for your viewing pleasure. Warning though, you might need to bleach your eyes out after viewing:

These days, I have better stuff in my portfolio, but I couldn't have gotten here without those ugly first renders, those wonky first animations. Here's some more recent stuff:

    "Awaken" Destiny 2 Montage

Oh, and as Dmg called out above, I also put a tiny hat on a Vex.

    Here you go.

    — Drexis (@Drexis_Anim) June 18, 2020

One of our editors left a note during our approval process that "Emergence" is one of the "sickest" montages they've seen. Good work! What piece of Destiny or Destiny 2 has inspired you most while doing your work?

Drexis: Oh boy, there's too much inspiration to even list it all. Dreaming City, Cosmodrome, the Nine's pocket realm inside Drifter's… what? Asteroid? Giant meatball? Not sure what it is, but it looks really cool in there. I love Destiny's art direction and all the concepts presented, even the ones that didn't quite make it to the game, I sometimes get lost browsing hundreds of concept pieces by Bungie's talented artists. I know many have said it before, but it would be a dream to work at Bungie and get to know the folks behind the space magic.

At this point, it should be expected that we ask you about your loadout. I always love to see which tools of destruction are preferred by artistic minds.

Drexis: Falling Guillotine is my favorite weapon in Destiny 2, as Dark Drinker was in Destiny 1. It's just the coolest thing ever. It will always be welcome in my loadout. For other weapons, I am currently really enjoying Ruinous Effigy. Slamming that ball into the ground and taking out multiple enemies is satisfying. I'm a Hunter Nightstalker main, and have been since I started playing. Though Arcstrider is my second favorite. As for Kinetic weapons, I like Redrix's Broadsword, The Supremacy, and Witherhoard.

What's the best place to find your work? Where can Guardians follow you?

Drexis: If you need to find me, I have a few places for you:

Any advice you have for aspiring artists in the community before you go?

Drexis: I'm not great at advice, but if I had to say something, I'd say stick with it. Motivation is fleeting, and sometimes it's unreliable. Make yourself sit in front of the computer (or pencil and paper), put on the lo-fi Destiny beats, and move. It can suck, and you might hate what you make at first. But just getting those ideas down, materializing them into existence, is a breeding ground for the best thing you've ever made... woah, did I just say that?

    That was deep.

Alright, alright, alright! Thanks for featuring me! I hope to see all you Guardians out in the wild, sporting Falling Guillotines and shredding through the enemies of the Last City. Cheers!

That was deep! Maybe someday I'll graduate from stick figures and start drawing Vex, Fallen, or even Cabal with tiny hats.

Many thanks to Drexis for stopping by, and we'll see you all again next week for a fresh Community Focus.

This thread is for all general discussion, questions, thoughts, musings, wonderings, etc. for the Trials of Osiris.

    FAQ

    What is Trials of Osiris?

    • Trials of Osiris is the pinnacle PvP activity. Every Weekend, the best players compete in 3v3 Elimination for one goal: Go Flawless.

    • To start, head to Saint-14 in the Tower Hangar and buy one of the possible passages (see below).

    • To reach Flawless and get to the Lighthouse, you need to win 7 matches without losing one.

    • It uses Win Based Matchmaking, which means you'll face teams with a similar amount of wins on their card. Matches will get harder as you win more matches.

    • There is NO fireteam matchmaking. You need to team up yourself!

    • Power Level matters, however bonus power from the artifact is not enabled.

How Long do the Trials of Osiris last?

    • Event Starts: Every Friday at Daily Reset (1700 UTC).

    • Event Ends: Following Tuesday at Weekly Reset (1700 UTC).

Where do I go to find Guardians to compete with in the Trials?

    • You can head over to /r/Fireteams, www.The100.io, Xbox LFG system, DestinyLFG.net or DestinyLFG.com, or go to the Bungie.net recruitment forum (also available through the Bungie App).

What if I have a question about another piece of armor/weapon or general Trials question?

I think we need a solid DLC revolving around the City

    Posted: 07 Aug 2020 03:18 PM PDT

Nearly six years of Destiny, and we barely know anything about the City. We never get to experience City life or interact with the people we are the supposed protectors of. The only times we have ever been to the City outside of the Tower, it was only ruins and war zones. What's even more troubling is that we know more about the Vex, the Hive, the Cabal, and the Fallen more than we do about our own people.

I think it's about time we got some content that centers around the City. There is so much potential for it. Imagine if we had a Patrol Zone located in the City, where we patrol the streets and aid the City's civilians wherever and whenever we can. Maybe we chase after some thieves and robbers. Maybe we can help a parent find their child who has wandered off. Maybe we can play games with the children running around. Or if you want more excitement, perhaps we could pull off heists with the Drifter or help Aunor hunt down rogue Guardians who have taken refuge in the City among its people. Factions could also play a role in it, and you can create support among the civilians for whichever Faction you align to by helping civilians in their endeavors.

MasterWork weapon Kill-Trackers should inherently track both PvP and PvE without the need to toggle

    Posted: 07 Aug 2020 10:14 AM PDT

The toggle would simply allow you to display which one is your preference or your favorite. Or, maybe even be able to select and display both?

This is minor but would sure be nice.

Players who purchased glows from previous Solstices should not have to pay for the current ones

    Posted: 07 Aug 2020 04:58 AM PDT

Just saw that the glows from past Solstices, ones that we had to purchase with either Silver or Bright Dust, are not going to be made into Universal Ornaments. This means the only way to use them is on armor that is objectively inferior (terribly rolled and no seasonal mod slot), effectively making the glows worthless.

A lot of people are angry at this (the comment that revealed this info has almost 900 downvotes as of this post) and rightfully so. We had to work our asses off to get that armor, and we had to pay either bright dust (a limited resource) or silver (REAL MONEY) for the glows to make them look nice.

I appreciate the effort they're putting into making the new armor set fancy and all, but unless they do the same for the prior armor and glows then that's a lot of players' time that was effectively wasted.

While ideally, I'd like for them to give prior Solstice Armor the same treatment as the new set (i.e. glows are a single universal ornament that updates to your equipped subclass automatically (including Stasis)), an alternative (easier, but a lot lesser) solution would be to make the new glows free for anybody who purchased glows in prior events. I imagine it working like once you fully upgrade the armor, the silver/bright dust fee to unlock the subclass glows would be waived entirely.

Again, updating prior glows into the new Universal Ornament format would be a much better solution, and if they can feasibly do that then they absolutely should.

Hey Bungie, Xur has Merciless this week!

    Posted: 07 Aug 2020 01:25 PM PDT

Does that remind you of something you mentioned a while ago that hasn't been addressed since? No?

The exotic still doesn't work. Neither does Jade Rabbit for that matter, but scouts...

Flawless Title Should Let You Have The Glow Forever

    Posted: 07 Aug 2020 10:19 AM PDT

Basically what the title says. I think if you are good enough to get Flawless title. You should as a extra reward have the ability to turn on and off the flawless glow to Trials loot.

The amount of ads for Paid carries in both PvP and PvE is getting wildly out of control.

    Posted: 07 Aug 2020 05:51 AM PDT

Idk whether it's the FBI guy in my phone, realising I spend a lot of time on D2 so he's pushing all the ads my way. Or wether these ads are growing by the second.

Every site I go on now has a "Hey, get Divinity now for a crisp deal of just $40!"

Edit: This post isn't completely random. I thought it would be cool of Bungie to lean into the Reddit post from a week or so ago of Zavala T-Posing and killing a guy

Edit 2: Apparently this is somehow a Fortnite thing? Never played it so I didn't know. My bad guys! Lets keep Destiny super serious!

Infusion, Masterworking, Sunsetting are all symptoms of the same core problem

    Posted: 07 Aug 2020 07:19 AM PDT

Destiny's loot system is not engaging.

The fact that people feel exhausted from the light level grind - is proof that the system is just not engaging.

The infusion system was put into place so that people wouldn't feel bad about leaving behind the great weapons of the prior expansion [for those who have played long enough to know the pain of leaving Fatebringer behind in the Dark Below...]. Sunsetting is to force people to abandon the great loadouts that new loot can't overcome [when Bungie forced everyone to stop using Fate Bringer, Black Hammer, Gjallerhorn].

Masterworking was put into place because the fixed roll drops were dull and boring.

Sunsetting is not new. This would be the 5th time its been implemented in the game [Dark Below, the inability to infuse certain weapons in year 2 Destiny 1, Destiny 2 release, the move away from fixed roll drops, and now].

The truth is, until Bungie fixes this core problem - we'll continue to cycle through band aid fixes.

Why does Bungie think crucible is better now?

    Posted: 07 Aug 2020 12:57 PM PDT

I've played 18 matches of Iron Banner this week. Only 3 of the 18 have needed with 35 points of each other. About half end early because it's a blowout and the rest were never close, but not too big of a buttkicking to call it early. This isn't competitive. This isn't fun. As a solo player going against 4, 5 and 6 stacks I am on the losing end of these quite a bit. But even when my team wins, it's often boring. Am I wrong for thinking there is something inherently wrong with this? As I began writing this I started another match. It was called early because my team was getting stomped. I had the highest score and most kills on my team, but the score was 26-79. Was that fun for the 6 opponents? Probably WAY more fun than it was for my team. And, this isn't a rare occurence. This is the MOST common occurance. Why does Bungie think this is how matchmaking should be done?

    3 Warlock Petra's Run

    Posted: 07 Aug 2020 10:13 AM PDT

Just wanted to share a little challenge we got done yesterday night.

GG's to my buddies Nex and devise for getting this done with me. Was real fun to come back to Destiny for a reason and while this run was omega scuffed, we got it.

Shoutout to SKE, naya, and Magic for the inspiration to do 3 Man one class Petra's. You can find their 3 Hunter Petra's at the respective links...

Giving credit where it's due, the 3 Man Petra's challenge was first done by Claw, Chevy, and Poon.

I believe we are the first team to do all warlocks, but regardless it was a fun challenge and tlord on top. If you want an explanation on the encounters and strats keep reading, but otherwise GG.

    • Why 3 Warlocks:
      • Because transitions are more fun and 4 corners is no longer gate keeping. When devise found the strat back in Season of Dawn, we wanted to start runs then. However the team had other responsibilities and I had lost interest in D2 as a whole during that time. This is the one regret devise and I have because we had a lot of practice in transitions during that time and it was all for nothing once WLZ nerf hit.
    • Kalli:
      • Nex and Paku on double slug and anarchy. devise on double slug and tractor. If you watch devise's POV you'll notice he swaps doubles slugs and the occasional tractor. Tractor updates Kalli's health bar when double slugging so the damage actually registers. Nex and I are on anarchy for the tick dmg and the standard one plate strat. We left early this run because we didn't want to black bar Kalli, but ended up leaving her with too much health and lost a bunch of time.
    • Shuro:
      • I hate puzzle. Nex on slug, *something*, and tlord. Paku on sniper, slug, tlord. devise on sniper, sniper, tlord. Nothing new here, nova to speed up ad clear and ideally get one spawn on plates. DPS not using double slug because running tractor is a hassle. One person snipes ogre, second person nova's the knights in the middle, third person pushes up to nova knights before second plate and get another singe spawn on second plates.Puzzle room is standard stuff, Nex was our slide boy, I was the diagonal boy swapping to Guillotine, and devise was our 4 corners boy swapping to WLZ.
      • The reason I say I hate puzzle is because our connection seemed to dictate when 4 corners and diagonals would go. You can clearly see it in this run where devise hits the same exact worldline on the first floor twice, and the first one doesn't reg while the second one does. Guillotine fixed our diagonals issue so that's why you'll see me swap that and not wlz.
    • Morgeth:
      • Nex and Paku on double slugs and anarchy. devise on double slugs and tractor (Mtn Top for ad clear). devise wanted to solo a side so he's on left while Nex and I are on right afk anarchy. Literal snooze fest on right side because you place either 1 or 4 anarchy shots since ammo is not an issue.
      • Standard stuff with strengths. Paku takes first strength and uses "joining allies" to get rid of it. Paku then takes both strengths on right side immediately to force trap on right so Nex can cleanse. devise will pick up both strengths on left side but stagger the second pick up till after Paku gets trapped. As warlocks you cannot pick up anymore strengths so you spawn kill all yellowbars and group up on one strength left side. Paku will cleanse whoever gets trapped, and that person will pick up one strength and the DPS strength. Everyone goes behind Morgeth for tractor, both novas, well, double slug DPS in that order.
    • Vault:
      • Same boring stuff. Only difference is has one warlock on blink + astrocyte to speed up third captain kill and dunk. Nothing else to say.
      • (Do pardon the language on this one though, devise was pretty fed up with our connection at this point)
    • Riven:
      • To start, yes we used Oppressive Darkness (OD). Yes we know it's a seasonal mod. Regardless, running this over and over made Riven a real drag to do 3 floors. It's so free that if you wipe it's probably because you mountain top'd yourself. Way faster to use OD and so we did.All 3 of us on witherhoard, *some secondary*, and guillotine. Nex and devise were on nova and had OD on some armor maintaining 3-2 split. Paku on well and 3-2 split.
      • Order of operations was fall down, "joining allies", go to correct side, clear room, place witherhoards everywhere cuz psions can shoot your nova (LUL), witherhoard Riven, OD (+ nova), swipe away, OD, swipe away.Sadly I missed the heal nade skip in this run, so you know we'll be running this challenge back. I'm nowhere near as goated as Claw or Granger so the best I can do is hit the skip 7/10 runs.Finish off Riven and shotgun the heart, easy stuff.
    • Queenswalk (QW):
      • We practiced QW for about two - three days because we wanted to have a no reset QW. I think almost every Petra's run has 2 people orbit so one particular person is chosen before rejoining and going. For us, whoever was chosen was the lunchable, and whoever typed the same number as the lunchable in chat was on throat launch duty.
      • In my honest opinion, I think our team's perfect scenario was Paku on lunchable, Nex on throat launch, and devise on addy duty. In all of my runs ever, I've never seen a man launch throat as goated as Nex.
      • Regardless it's the standard strat for QW: WLZ the lunchable as far as you can before he gets tp'd into the heart, second person picks up and gets launched through stair room (we didn't this run), launched in lava room (I choked that one), and launched into vault room (I also choked that one). Last person uses tractor to get the movement speed and takes it home (God Bless Trees and my drop though? xD).

    TL;DR

Tortugas got the first 3 Warlock Petra's Run. If you're interested go give it a watch. If not, have a beautiful day. Slow and Steady Wins the Race.

Do NOT order the Tricorn face masks on bungie store

    Posted: 07 Aug 2020 12:53 PM PDT

hey everyone. i was SUPER excited when i saw the face masks bungie put up on the store. well i received them yesterday and put them to use today, i am very disappointed in their use.

the problem is inherent to the build. here is the information:

    1 Ply-4 Way Stretch Microfiber

2nd Ply- Durable High Loft 100% Polyester Microfiber

    3rd Ply- 100% Cotton Poplin

    front

    inside

the microfiber used for this in one or more layers is not breathable in any fashion. to the point of if the sides or top line your face (like they should) the mask literally suctions to your face due to the 3rd issue with the build

    Pulled apart

the layers in the mask are NOT sewn together, so while the external layer stays in shape mostly, when you breath in, the internal layer collapses onto your face.

the best way i could explain how to simulate this, is to take a microfiber cloth you use to clean something. then press it to your nose and mouth and attempt to breath in through it.

i am super disappointed in this build and will be trying to return it. i wanted these so bad because i loved the design.

Bungie, give us a bow that can roll with disruption break PLEASE

    Posted: 07 Aug 2020 09:46 PM PDT

In PvP, bows are pretty trash overall. The only bow that's even good in it is Le Monarque but it's an exotic and it isn't really used in many people's Loadout nowadays. In PvE, bows aren't terrible but there are honestly just better options for weapons in most cases. If there was a bow that could get disruption break, it would make that bow viable in PvP and possibly in PvE.

For those of you who don't know since disruption break is rarely seen, it makes it so that breaking a combatants shield will give you a 50% buff to kinetic damage temporarily. It's pretty ok overall but on a bow, it will make it super good in PvP, but not broken.

Using a bow, hitting someone usually gets them pretty weak which is why some people like pairing it with something like a hand cannon for a quick swap and kill using quick access sling. I think that since bows already would activate disruption break in PvP, this would make it viable in MANY loadouts. I mean, the truthteller can get disruption break and it can be super good in PvP because of it!

In PvE, this could also be good as a bow can take out enemy energy shields pretty easily and with that kinetic damage buff, your other weapon such as a mountaintop or witherhoard will just melt stuff like yellow bars and potentially adds.

I would love to see this happen maybe for beyond light and I think that it would make that bow very unique in many ways. Cmon Bungo, have some fun with some crazy combinations for once instead of just the usual auto rifle and shotgun or hand cannon and sniper or for PvE, grenade launcher and sidearm/smg. Please Bungie, I love what you did with trinity ghoul for PvE, we need another strong bow that isn't exotic for more possible bow combos in both PvP and PvE!

Thank you so much for spending the time to read my post! If you dislike my idea, downvote and let me know why. If you like it, you can choose to upvote if you want but still please leave any suggestions below. It means a lot and I hope you have a nice day!

As a mostly solo player, not counting matchmaking activities, I completed the Prophecy dungeon last night for the first time! Thanks Destiny Companion app!

Took an hour, got the helmet I've wanted out of the set and triumphs needed for titles I never thought I'd get!

    Make The Farm relevant

    Posted: 07 Aug 2020 10:39 AM PDT

Couple of suggestions that could make the Farm relevant... 1. Have Xur only show up at various areas of The Farm 2. Add a Shooting Range 3. Move Hawthorn to The Farm 4. Queue for finding fireteams for Nightfalls/Raids/or whatever

A team who has never even gotten to 3 wins should never be paired up with a flawless. Full stop.

It's amazing that this had to be said. What the hell is up with card-based matchmaking? It's the high-stakes sweaty pvp mode. It should be skill based the whole time. Bungie's wondering why trials has no players? all the new players are getting stomped and leaving.

Please add a "Spam" report to the Destiny 2 app

    Posted: 07 Aug 2020 02:37 AM PDT

I'm here trying to find an iron banner group but all I see is the exact same post. "1080+ Grandmaster Nightfall" all by the same guy. It became so much that I got curious and counted.

    SEVENTY-NINE POSTS.

But I can't report him under any of the suggestions since none of them have to do with spam. It's really unfortunate.

(Edit: Oh god as I posted this I go back to the app and he has made another post)
