    Daily Vanguard Modifiers

    Affect Strikes, Menagerie, Heroic Missions & Adventures

    • Solar Singe: Solar damage increases slightly from all sources.
    • Iron: Enemies have more health and are not staggered by damage.
    • Heavyweight: Power weapons deal more damage, and more ammo is available.

    Why I think the elemental glows are dulled

    People are complaining, but I think its a minor mistake on Bungie's part. Destiny 2 uses a PBR rendering pipeline (Physically based rendering). Objects are shaded based on materials, which contain the base colour, reflectivity maps, normal maps, ect. Colours are stored as vectors, each number meaning the strength of each colour (R G and B). I will demonstrate the issue in Unreal engine.

    The white glow has all colours set to 1, since it is a solid white glow. The base colour is multiplied by the glow strength, so for a full super lets say its x10. 1,1,1 multiplied by 10 is 10,10,10, thus resulting in a glow effect.

    Now, for the elemental glows, they aren't defined as just 1,1,1. So when they are multiplied they dont result in 10,10,10 anymore. Lets use void as an example, as it is the most dull. Lets say that void is 0.2,0,0.4, multiply that by 10 and you get 2,0,4, a much lower value than the white glow, resulting in a less bright glow.

    The solution is to have a different max glow strength for each subclass so that the multiplied colour is equal to the white glows max strength. Here is the void glow multiplied by 50 instead of 10, making the output number 10,0,20.

    This could easily have been a minor oversight, I hope Bungie fixes this, as the void glow would be sexy if it was brighter.

    What a day! I think we can all agree that Gjallarhorn day went down a storm and was enjoyable for almost everybody, Destiny community and beyond.

    I'm rather shocked that there's a rather large amount of players who misinformed. Who are grinding out there Solstice armor expecting a full set of master worked 1060 amour.

    Just stating the fact, not saying it should. That's a whole other debate.

    It's just that a lot of people who I played with this week think after they complete the amour objectives think they are getting a fully master worked set of 1060 armor. I'm not the only one who has noticed this, some of my Destiny friends have noticed this as well.

    This being a common misconception that due to last two Solstice Of Heroes events gave fully master worked sets at max power level and that this year wouldn't be a different. Those people are sadly mistaken.

    I've been intrigued by this green level shotgun ever since i started playing destiny 2. Its such a cool, sci-fi design that barely anyone appreciates because it's such a low level weapon. I think it would be really cool if we could get one that's viable in non-beginner content, and that we can put shaders on.

    PS, the Trondheim-LR2 sniper is another good looking weapon. And the Psi Ferox II

    Semi-Massive Breakdown of Non-Sunsetting Weapons

    Mercules deserves all the credit for this, as I just took his Massive Breakdown work that we all use so much and spent way-too-long combing through the document to remove all the weapons (like 95%) that are being sunset. I just wanted a more useful, comprehensive list of what will be sticking around for comparison for my own uses and when I finished, I figured it was something other people might find useful as well.

    Semi-massive Breakdown of Non-Sunsetting Weapons

    Takeaways (that are mostly not new but really driven home):

    -Holy shit, there used to be so many weapons and there are going to be so few left

    -A lot of archetypes are going to have no representatives (for example, there are 5 non-sunset scouts left: 3 high-impact, 2 lightweight, 0 precision, 0 rapid-fire)

    -It is extremely unbalanced between weapon types, and the ones with the most extant copies are primarily the popular/strong/meta weapon types (ie, 11 HCs, 11 shotguns, 10 fusions, 9 ARs, 9 snipers, 9 sidearms.... but only 6 pulses, 6 SMGs, 5 scouts, 5 bows, 2 LFRs, 1 MG)

    -I don't see any way around Beyond Light starting off with a massive reissuance of identical copies of guns we already had.

    -I'm curious to see if this is used as an inflection point to lower the number of weapons in-game (or end-game viable) or possibly even weed out some archetypes. It's tough because no matter which they cut, it would piss a lot of people off, but I'm not sure that having fewer wouldn't be better for the D2 at large. I'm not sure Bungie is brave enough to do that, but it seems like a viable path forward.

    -

    EDIT: One additional takeaway:
    There are 62 archetype/slot combinations (ie, there would need to be 62 guns if there were one of each permutation of archetype that can go in each slot--so just 1 of each archetype of fusion or rocket launcher, but 2 of each HC archetype, one kinetic and one energy).

    As it stands, there are 30 archetype/slot combinations represented in non-sunset weapons for next season. For there to be just one gun of each archetype (with no regard for elemental representation) for each slot, they would need 32 more of unique archetypes (or, in the case of the same archetype, split between kinetic/energy),

    Nova Warp shouldn't be unable to blink or attack during the last couple seconds of energy

    Title. The super becomes locked into doing nothing for the last like 2 seconds of super energy because you don't have enough energy to attack or teleport. At best you can jump then teleport to get a bit of momentum in the direction of the incomplete teleport, but you cannot complete even the small blast.

    Compare this to striker super (or arc strider jump heavy attack) which lets you slam with no visible energy left on the bar because it freezes the super energy until the slam completes. Not to mention if a titan casts Fist of Havok, but dies before hitting the ground, then it retains the super - that's not fair either considering they get the damage resistance and are also getting a free pass for a bad super.

    The movement penalty while charging should be removed as well. It made sense when the super lasted a very long time, could attack through walls generously, and had significant bonus damage resistance while charging. However, those things were nerfed, and now the movement penalty simply makes it too easy of a target to melt. Shotgun melee can take down a Nova Warp before it can even finish charging a blast as the effective range of a charged blast is only 8 meters.

    The Nova Warp teleport is described as a "teleport a short distance," and for the record that distance is 3 meters. That's a joke. The titan shoulder charges are longer than that, and will kill something at the same time.

    Bungie, you need to fix this. It's not fair or balanced, and the Nova Warp super is weak enough as it can't even challenge other supers.

    In summary, grant Nova Warp the same benefit as other class supers that allow the player to complete one final action despite being at critically low super energy (ie: striker slam, arc strider jump heavy attack), reduce or remove the movement penalty while charging, and increase the Nova Warp teleport distance to at least melee range as 3 meters is basically useless and comparatively a joke to other classes. Finally, stop bending over to non-warlock players who whine when they see a warlock subclass finally competing.

    edit: While we're at it, can we make the cast animation do an explosion? It sounds cool, but it just wastes time and energy.

    Solstice 2020 actually not too bad

    So I've seen a lot of people bashing solstice for various reasons and for all there may be some validity I actually think on a whole its acty ok.

    To get the entire set finished probably takes around 10-20 hours depending on how you play it. Some of the steps are a little grindy but that's just Destiny.

    The up points for me

    3 really nice armor sets with a base glow available through play.

    3 ornament sets to buy but can be bought before finishing the white set if you don't have time etc. Also 6k isn't that much in dust

    The two ships and sparrow available for dust.

    The overboost on your alt characters is really cool. My 2nd run through is going really quick.

    Its gave me something to play and I've enjoyed it, I get some steps are a pain....looking at you 10 gambit matches and 7 trials wins but we have plenty of time to do them.

    So if your avoiding it cause people have told you its trash , give it a try you may be surprised.

    Sooooooo can we move queensbreaker and the other linear fusion rifles to the special slot now? Im pretty sure they are litterally the least used weapon class.

    If not that, can they please get a nice pve damage buff? I love the way they feel, but they hinder you due to better options.

    And OBVIOUSLY I DON'T WANT SLEEPER TO BE SPECIAL person already writing a rage comment based on the title alone.

    I just feel like they need some love, technically in D1 they were special and they didn't break the game, and with the nerf to queens I think it's better suited as a special now anyway.

    For some odd reason, only now an I fully understanding what Cartman meant during the episode ' make love, not warcraft's. After they grind for months leveling and finally beat the unstoppable player, the other ask " what do we do now?". To which Cartman replies: " now we can finally play the game....."

    This is quite literally how players feels every three months in Destiny.

    White glow should have been an ornament upgrade/toggle option instead of armour tied

    Feels pointless now as it is tied to armour. People who have good/min-maxed gear have no reason to mess with RNG packages to get armour let alone a super roll. Plus, all these armours have arrivals mod slot and can cover up to season 12 mods only despite having 1360 power level cap.

    Magnificent white glow should have been an ornament upgrade or toggle option once you finish all objectives. This would have worked well for everyone. Old or new or future armour, show up your glow entire year without getting gimped by mod slot or rely on RNG packages to get a decent roll and regrind all parts just to show off white glow you worked for.

    Oh well...wasted oppoutunity. 🤷

    Solstice Armor Glow Objective completions should turn them into ornaments

    I don't see why this can't happen. If the ones from eververse can be ornaments then I think the ones that we actually earn in game should be the same. Maybe not for each individual piece as you complete it, but at least as a reward for completing the full set.

    So I opened 100 Solstice Packages: Results

    Result: Blues: 91 Legendaries: 23 Cores: 30 Solstice Armor: 34 (11 Class Items) Upgrade Module: 3 Prism: 1 Umbrals: 14

    Of those 34 Solstice Armor drops, I kept 3 pieces. rest was trash.

    Not worth the time. I'm done with this event now I grinded enough. Focusing on BD farm now
