    Trials of Osiris are LIVE

This thread is for all general discussion, questions, thoughts, musings, wonderings, etc. for the Trials of Osiris.

    FAQ

    What is Trials of Osiris?

    • Trials of Osiris is the pinnacle PvP activity. Every Weekend, the best players compete in 3v3 Elimination for one goal: Go Flawless.

    • To start, head to Saint-14 in the Tower Hangar and buy one of the possible passages (see below).

    • To reach Flawless and get to the Lighthouse, you need to win 7 matches without losing one.

    • It uses Win Based Matchmaking, which means you'll face teams with a similar amount of wins on their card. Matches will get harder as you win more matches.

    • There is NO fireteam matchmaking. You need to team up yourself!

    • Power Level matters, however bonus power from the artifact is not enabled.

How Long do the Trials of Osiris last?

    • Event Starts: Every Friday at Daily Reset (1700 UTC).

    • Event Ends: Following Tuesday at Weekly Reset (1700 UTC).

Where do I go to find Guardians to compete with in the Trials?

    • You can head over to /r/Fireteams, www.The100.io, Xbox LFG system, DestinyLFG.net or DestinyLFG.com, or go to the Bungie.net recruitment forum (also available through the Bungie App).

What if I have a question about another piece of armor/weapon or general Trials question?

    • Use Control + F (Or Command + F if on a Mac) and search for keywords in your question. Someone may have asked it already. If they haven't ask right below.

The new Hunter Super, "Silence and Squall" has a very clever name.

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 09:14 AM PDT

The Revenant Hunter's super is called "Silence and Squall" which is a direct reference to what the super does. During the Super, the Hunter throws two Kama, and they each have a unique function:

The first Kama freezes everything around it, creating Silence.

And the second Kama creates an AOE explosion followed by a massive ice tornado. (A Squall)

(For those that don't know, a Squall is a sudden violent gust of wind, typically during a snow or hailstorm)

So by using Silence and Squall, you are literally throwing Silence, followed by Squall. Not sure how many people noticed that little detail but I certainly appreciate it. Very clever Bungie, very clever indeed.

Edit: Here's some footage of the Super in action (plus a finisher, the melee ability, and the icewall grenade): https://i.imgur.com/2hhzOZW.gifv

8 things enemy combatants can do that I wish my guardian could do

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 11:18 AM PDT

    1. Run backwards as fast as my enemies run forwards, all while never bumping into anything and firing my gun with surprising accuracy
    2. Wield a garbage can lid with such phenomenal skill that it renders me immune to any attacks not aimed at my toes.
    3. Clone myself
    4. As soon as someone starts shooting me, I do a magic squiggly wiggly dodge dance that effectively gives me free DR
    5. Just goddamn teleport everywhere.
    6. Drop into an indestructible gaseous form the millisecond I start to take damage
    7. Spew gouts of flame across the map that are astonishingly accurate, and cause both DoT AND AoE burn
    8. Explode

I will cherish this era of Destiny

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 02:41 PM PDT

Just like those nostalgic memories of destiny 1, we are now in the process of making such memories with destiny 2. With all the mistakes and issues with destiny, it will always be part of me and I will always come back for more. Yet i know that someday there will be no more destiny, no more content and no more lore.

It will be a sad day indeed.

So I will cherish what we have now, and will be playing with joy knowing that there is more coming in the foreseeable future. I wish bungie realize how much we love this game and continue to support and shape this game to the potential it really deserve.

I know you might be wondering what is the point of this post, I have no idea but it was from the heart and Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on freehold.

    Thanks for reading.

Theory: The Titan Stasis super looks just like bottom tree arc because ... it IS - each stasis subclass will "take over" or "add on" to existing subclasses in unique ways

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 05:59 AM PDT

We have yet to be told anything further about how the new stasis subclasses work "mechanically" - we only know that Luke said they would be more customizable. What if part of that customization comes in selecting which of our base subclasses affect it (i.e. top middle or bottom tree arc titan, for example). People have been wondering if stasis is just the first "darkness subclass" of three to come - the way they've been portrayed so far seems to support this. Read on if you're curious.

    ---

My theory is that based on the super-cast animations we've been shown, stasis will add darkness abilities to a different elemental subclass for each subclass:

Titans: This is where the theory started given most of what we see in the footage looks just like bottom tree arc titan, with the running and occasional smashes. BUT, there's also the one portion where the titan flies really far before a smash, looking quite similar to middle tree thundercrash the way he flies. So it seems like stasis affects the titan's arc abilities.

Hunters: Comparisons have been made to way of a thousand cuts and for good reason. The stasis' super cast animation is the same as the one for blade barrage. It's also throwing shurikens which are similar to the wave of knives from that subtree - but most importantly, he's throwing knives - so it seems stasis affects the hunter's solar abilities. (if it were one of the other trees we'd see throwing smoke or punchy abilities...)

Warlock: I've already gone over how it seems like titans are mirroring their arc abilities and hunters mirroring solar abilities. So, by process of elimination it would seem likely that stasis affects the warlock's void abilities. This is supported again by the super cast animation (it's the same as middle tree voidlock novawarp, and there's also a moment where that stasis staff looks like it's drawn back similarly to throwing a nova bomb). The nova warp cast animation is admittedly very similar to stormcaller, but I don't think this is too much a stretch. Edit: forgot one detail - this is further supported by the name of the subclass "Shadebinder" which feels clearly void-associated.

Am I reading into the animations too much? Maybe. But we've mostly never (that I can think of) gotten new subclasses without at least one entirely new super-cast animation, and the above evidence seems like too much of a coincidence given these were also each the first subclasses each character unlocked way back in D1 (Titans had arc, Hunters had solar, Warlocks had void). Seems very bungie to mirror our first foray into the darkness with the same order in which we gained the light.

I'm not saying that titans will have "arc stasis" for example - just saying that the physicality with which titans at least first embrace the darkness would make sense to mirror the way the titan uses arc subclasses - and similarly with the other classes.

    ---

    What about stasis on weapons?

Yes, we've been told that stasis is a "new element entirely" but I don't think this disagrees with that statement. My theory is that the light deals with energy elements (energy slot weapons) and the dark deals with physical elements (ice) - which could indicate something like stasis elemental weapons becoming part of the "kinetic" weapon slot. Adding stasis to the energy slot would be rough because it's already overcrowded there - this would open up new gameplay opportunities depending on how the stasis element functions - i.e. you could have both "darkness" and "light" primary weapons equipped.

    ---

This quickly turned into a novel. Curious to hear anyone's thoughts here!

EDIT: Thanks for the awards, Guardians! Always feels cool to have people find some merit to your theory. In response to some general comment themes:
    - It's just a theory. I mentioned that I could be reading too much into the animations, you aren't wrong. I'm not definitely right. We all have opinions!
    - Definitely wasn't suggesting these would REPLACE the existing trees. Just possibly be part of the new customization methods they mention are coming and whatnot.
    - The strongest counterpoint to the "stasis powers are associated with existing subclasses" theory is that they give the subclasses explicit names, i.e. it's not like they called it "way of the behemoth." I don't think this fully disagrees though, we could essentially have a split node in the UI which is half arc / half stasis for titan and stasis is still a unique thing but somehow woven into your existing powers.

Accidentally glitched through the map and found an amazing view of the Darkness ships

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 09:13 AM PDT

I was messing around with my buddies, saying "I want to get as close to the ship as possible and shoot at it", when I accidentally fell through the map and landed on a flat surface down below. The lighting changed and created a really gorgeous view of the ship on IO. I sat there for 30+ minutes trying to snag different shots of what I saw. The pics are unedited entirely, so feel free to take them and do whatever you'd like!

On matchmaking screens, change the "singe" icons to simply be the element glyph

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 03:23 PM PDT

Title really says it all. The element portion of the singe icon is a tiny circular portion in the very middle of the glyph. Hard to see. Singe modifiers are the only ones related to elements so why not just make them the glyphs for the elements themselves? Or color them to match the element color. Would be a nice little QoL upgrade.

To The 4 Man VoG Team Who Invited Me

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 07:34 AM PDT

I clipped though the VoG door in patrol and was messing around when a raid team started VoG, they saw me on the other side of the door and invited me to the raid. We did most of VoG 5 man without coms (I didnt have them, I don't know about them). I left when waking the glass throne because it was 2 am. I had never done VoG, I didn't know the mechanics. If you guys see this, I salute you.

Will year 4 armor have stasis as a 4th elemental affinity?

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 07:59 AM PDT

If I remember correctly all year 3 mods will be only applicable to year 3 armor right? Which means year 4 armor could add a new affinity with exclusive mods without being too annoying. Just a thought, curious on peoples opinions.

How to clear Ma'adim Subterrane on Mars under 60 seconds for resonant stems.

Now that the nodes on Mars are getting duplicate protection, I wanted to share my method of farming resonant stems.

Done on Hunter with Stompees and nightstalker bottom tree for longer granade duration and faster recharge time combined with the smoke.

Edit: To all who do not know, Bungie mentioned in the latest TWAB, that node dupe protection was planned to be relased on 8th of September.

Why the freezing effect in PvP won't be as bad as you think

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 11:57 AM PDT

From the gameplay we've seen so far, not counting supers, basic abilities freeze players under specific conditions. Meeting these conditions are equivalent to being outright killed by the abilities of other subclasses. Examples of players being frozen in PvP required one of the following:

    • Extended exposure to stasis field AoE grenade
    • Two projectile based melees (Hunter throwing stars)
    • Stasis field grenade comboed with projectile melee

Equivalent abilities on other subclasses would kill you in the same condition.

    • Extended exposure to AoE grenade such as Vortex
    • Two melee projectiles hitting you such as double throwing knifes
    • Ability combos such as celestial fire with a solar grenade

From what's been showcased in PvP, by the time a freeze actually procs on you, you would already be dead in any other circumstance. I believe this is how it will be balanced in PvP. Sure, it'll probably be frustrating once you're frozen and you have to accept your fate without being able to retaliate, but in any other scenario you're already dead by any other subclass.

The real thing we should be worried about, at least until more details are announced, is the slowing effect of the stasis field grenade. This is the one that resembles an icy version of the vortex grenade. If the slowing effect is instant in PvP, then it's going to be very strong. If it only applies after extended exposure to the grenade, say a full second, then it likely won't be any better than our current zoning grenades.

I believe the strongest thing to come of these subclasses, at least from what's been shown so far, is the ability to create walls. In high level play, blocking off a lane, shutting down an ape, or providing yourself cover is such a game changer. Not for reason of lethality, but for reasons of movement.

tl;dr - Things look balanced as they currently stand. Let's not cry nerfs until we actually get our hands on it and get past the honey moon phase. We have a tendency to cry OP on something that's brand new before it settles into the game and people realize how it works.

If Ace of Spades is Cayde's gun, and Invective is Ikora's gun, what is Zavala's gun?

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 03:15 PM PDT

The thought just came to mind. Cayde had Ace, Ikora has/had Invective, so what does Zavala use other than his mighty fists and shields? Maybe this has been answered already but I've never seen it. Also Bungie pls give me Invective that was my baby. Thanks for reading.

Nobody wants to think about this right now, but I really hope Bungie clarifies if "stasis' freezing" is an upon death thing or not in the crucible.

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 07:39 AM PDT

I get that everyone is hyped, but really think to yourself about freezing in crucible. Crucible is already a hodgepodge of balance, but freezing will become the most annoying feature in PvP if it is not upon death.

Anything that takes you out of the game and completely incapacitates you will not go over well in the long run. Just think of how annoyed you get from a tether or suppressor grenade. You can still fight when hit by those. Now crank that up by 10.

I am not bursting bubbles here (as I am sure down votes will flow like a river in here), but freezing mechanics is not something that needs to be in a PvP mode. Slowing sure, dead stop....nope.

Clarification will help clear this up.

I made a fake Ad for Braytech.org and the creator liked it.

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 07:34 PM PDT

A few days ago I was chatting with a buddy about triumphs and he didn't know the website Braytech.org existed. So I showed it to him explaining how if you're concerned with getting max triumph in Destiny, this will be your best friend. I decided to make a fun ad for it, and guess what? The creator even retweeted my post! https://twitter.com/BraytechHelp/status/1295436811519500289

So anyway, this is to get some more love for Brayech, it is ran by one guy as a non-profit website. If you haven't been there yet (braytech.org) check it out. It is top notch, seamless, and pretty.

Don't use Icarus grip on Felwinter's Lie. Here's why

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 11:34 AM PDT

Alright, so I was wondering about how Felwinter's Lie would react to Icarus grip mods, since it has a set spread pattern, which is about the same every single shot. So I came up with a test; shoot Felwinter at a wall WITH Icarus grip while on the floor, then in the air, then do the same WITHOUT Icarus grip. Turns out that it's the same with or without Icarus grip, so whack on that backup mag or any other mod you'd like since it doesn't help you, at least for Felwinter.

TL;DR: Don't use Icarus grip on Felwinter's Lie, since it does nothing.

I've concluded that the Rasmussen Clan shader doesn't exist ft the scientific method

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 02:26 AM PDT

My observation: I do not have the rasmussen clan shaderMy question: Is it possible to obtain the rasmussen clan shader? My hypothesis: In order to prove the rasmussen clan shader exists, I must first obtain itMy prediction: If the shader is obtainable via volundr forge ignitions, either from weapon or armor drops with the forge polymer, then I will likely obtain it within a reasonable timeframe, e.g. 5 hours

Results: After eight ****ing hours, I can conclude that rasmussen clan shader either A. Does not exist, or B. is unobtainable or unobservable.P.S. Can someone come to my house and just punch me in the head so I at least look the same as I feel after this experiment
