New Updated EAZ Loadout and Chest Guide

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 08:22 PM PDT

First off this is a continuation of my last post. I have gone through the EAZ for the last 6 or 7 hours and I think I have found all the chest. If I missed any please feel free to let me know that way I can update it.

There are a lot more chest spawns than last year, so instead of trying to solo it this year I would definitely try to find a group and section off the map. I have noticed that a lot of the chest are on the ground this year and quite easy to get to.

I am going to go through a bunch of stuff in this post including, loadouts, strategies, and the chest guide.

Here is my updated map: https://imgur.com/gallery/Joohr0d

    LOADOUTS:

So to start things off, my loadouts are actually very similar to last year so far. I am a titan main so I'll try to explain best I can for the other classes as well. For all of them the core part of the loadout is a one two punch shotgun. This can be any one two punch shotgun you have, but I use the Perfect Paradox with demolitionist and One-Two Punch. (The reason I use this is because I also have Hive/Fallen armaments, so if I get a grenade kill I get heavy ammo from it. The Fallen armaments are a rare drop from the sparrow chest in the SoTP raid, and the Hive Armaments can be found in the menagerie by slotting runes into a fully upgraded chalice. This is optional) On titan I run the Synthoceps and bottom tree striker. Punch one small ad, proc knockout, shoot mini boss once, punch him to death. Hunters can use top tree arcstrider and liars handshake. Warlocks are going to have to give me a hand here because I don't know good setups with them. Other than that I run anarchy or any high DPS heavy. Use shotgun melee for mini bosses and heavy for final boss.

    STRATEGIES:

Try your best to stay away from your teammates if you think you can handle killing minibosses on your own. If you are using the loadout I mentioned above you can easily solo the minibosses. Stay as high as possible because it is easier to move across rooftops than it is to move on the ground, sparrows are faster but if you are running with a team who can all solo mini bosses, it is easy to just stay and wait for someone to spawn near you. If you are not running with a team use the teleporters on the floating islands that teleport you to the opposite side of the map. You do not have to kill all the ads, only the miniboss and the rest will despawn. So clear out any ads that you think may kill you (I'm looking at you cabal phalanxes) and then just shotgun melee the miniboss. Stick to your side and you can get a large amount of miniboss kills pretty easily. My record so far today with only blueberries is 16.

    CHEST ROUTE:

So my recommendation this year is to run with a group and section off different parts of the map. But before I go on, TREASURE HUNTER PERK ON GHOST SHELLS WORK. If you have a ghost shell with treasure hunter on it, it will spot any chest within 50m of you. If you aim down sights this range is increased, and if you scope with a sniper you can just about see where every chest in the EAZ spawns. So with that said, after you kill the final boss a single chest spawns. Opening this chest will start a timer that will give you a brief glimpse of where every chest you got spawns. This timer does not start until you open that first chest, so use all the time you want to get yourself to a good vantage point on your section of the map then open the first chest. It's better to not pinpoint every exact location but to see count how many chest are on your side of the map. Once you count you can pick up all the chest on your side and then try to assist elsewhere. If you are running the ghost shell you don't have to know the exact location of the chest because it will be marked when you run past it, so just try to go to general locations and your ghost will do the heavy lifting. There is one hidden chest in the south east corner of the map in which there is a broken down bus between two buildings. Entering that bus and heading to the back of it reveals a secret entrance. This is the only chest that is easy to miss so if you are in that corner of that map and can't see the chest, assume that it is the secret chest.

Again feel free to ask any questions or let me know if I missed any chest because I'm beat for the day after running EAZ for hours.

Also spread this around. I dont care if you credit me or not. Anything that gets blueberries to be better is all the reward I need.

TL;DR shotgun, punchy punch, run with a team, and use the map to find chest.

Solstice weekly bounties don't reward bright dust. Why Bungie? Why?

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 10:29 AM PDT

Not only that, but there is no reward for completing armour grind on all characters. Or at least you can't see it in Eva's inventory.

Solstice of Heroes is super boring

its my first solstice of heroes so i have no idea how they years were prior (although i was around for the annual pass so im not a new light player) but i have to say the EAZ is an absolute slogfest with no enjoyment for me at all, of course im gonna grind it anyways for the armour but has it always been like this? cuz i dont know if its just me but this event sucks

WARNING! Be very careful when opening Solstice Packages

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 12:56 PM PDT

The packages can move after each opening so you can accidentally dismantle something important such as Enhancement Cores if you're not paying attention. This is the same bug as last time we had Solstice. Take your time when opening each package.

I tire of competing with allies for kills.

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 11:00 AM PDT

I'm sick of it. I'm sick to death of it. Whether it be in PvE or PvP, this solstice wants you to compete for kills and orbs (I think? I'm unsure if orbs despawn when your allies pick them up, but it feels like it) (nevermind, just kills). Your allies running weapons that don't give you the orbs you need? Tough shit. People should have the same requirements for the armour as eachother so people can help eachother with orbs. Kills should be "as a fireteam" or "with nearby guardians". Let assists progress. Anything. Please.

EDIT: since this is on the front page, a little clarification: I'm posting this less on my behalf but more on the "blueberries" behalf. I fear that the competitive aspect of competing for kills will turn folks off from the experience, and I genuinely want people to enjoy Destiny. Additionally, continuing with the concept of competing for kills is no bueno- it's an idea that's not great and could definitely do with some working on. I believe in the past Bungie has changed / done things so that it acts as a fireteam, or that assists also count: stuff like that would be for the better.

As a newcomer, the game is incredibly obtuse in guiding you

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 05:07 PM PDT

I've been looking for a new game to dive into and I consistently hear a lot of great things about Destiny 2. As a casual D1 player I am somewhat familiar with the systems and setup of the game so I thought it would be pretty easy for me to jump in.

I was mistaken. It started off pretty okay with the introduction and initial few quests introducing me to the strikes, PvP and Gambit but my quest list has quickly gotten out of control and I have no idea the order of what I am supposed to be doing.

I know the Red War was the original campaign for D2 so I decided to start with that. Again it was all good up until I had to talk to Sloane and she gave me 5 additional quests. I now have 20+ quests in my log and no idea of who these people are and what the plot actually is since these quests are all set after the Red War.

My final breaking point is when I booted up the game and it automatically put me in a quest to find Eris and stop some pyramids or something. I wish I could experience the plot and level up the same way everyone else did orignally without also having me do the newest content at the same time.

The only comparison I can think of is FFXIV which is another long running online game. Despite having multiple expansions, every player still proceeds through all of the original content before moving onto the newest stuff.

I really want to enjoy Destiny 2 but I keep spending hours completing quests with no idea when this quest is actually set in the overall storyline.

    Unlimited range.

    High damage per shot.

Ease of use > don't even need to get headshots.

    And is an elemental weapon.

I used the Luxe armor sets to make some covers for Hand Cannon Vogue, a magazine inspired by the emote of the same name in Destiny 2.

After finishing one armor set, your progress on other characters is doubled.

Update Nightfall exclusive weapons for Beyond Light. Sunsetting these weapons is silly.

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 10:21 AM PDT

    Title.

There's no good reason why Horror's Least, The Long Goodbye, etc are going to be sunset with Beyond Light. I'm all for sunsetting -- but sunsetting weapons that will (likely) continue to be drops in Beyond Light.

Even more ridiculous: single-perk weapons like DFA & Duty Bound have *never* been updated to include the new perk set / configuration, meaning that these weapons have been inferior to all the other weapons in the current pool since Destiny has moved away from the fixed-perk model. Net net: we've never been able to use these rare drops within the current environment. Getting one of these weapons as a drop doesn't feel good - it feels bad (unless you're chasing Wayfarer).

It seems unlikely that Bungie is going to give us any more Nightfall-exclusive loot -- but this small adjustment would give players the chance to grind for these weapons in the new perk pool. It isn't perfect (perfect would be Nightfall-exclusive loot), but it's a start.

COLLECTING ARC ORBS FOR THE RENEWED SET DOES NOT WORK IN GAMBIT PRIME

I forgot how gambit prime and comp don't spawn orbs.

Felwinters helm makes the glows into the solstice armour

So when you add felwinters helm to solar and arc subclasses it makes the glows change into the stasis colours. This is very weird. it probably doesn't mean anything but I thought it was interesting.

    Solstice Robes dont change color

Please make it so the gold at the bottom of the robes changes color with shaders. It was the same with dawning armor :( What it looks like

Destiny is a fantastic IP that is marred by terrible direction and leadership.

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 09:49 PM PDT

This Solstice is last year's event but less. Luke Smith rants about earning cosmetics in game and then we get the reward for earning all three armor sets removed - but Eververse has plenty of new options.

Going from an awesome exotic ship - to a legendary sparrow - to nothing at all, sums up D2 in a nutshell. Forsaken was the only great time period during this game and it had its own issues.

As a play space, the EAZ is RAD.

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 07:39 PM PDT

Disclaimer: I'm a New Light player, so this is, in fact, my first rodeo.

I only did 3 runs, so maybe the gameplay loop gets boring fast, but I really wish more of the game had that vertical maze feel. The intro to Scourge kinda gets it, but the EAZ requires you to really use the space and move through it quickly; you have to find and use shortcuts constantly to get through the bosses faster. The chest hunting encapsulates all the best parts of the first 20 hours of New Light for me: exploring, finding things, seeing what's possible movement-wise... the whole experience is like a distillation of the fun parts of the game to me.

I'm sure people are already vomiting salt onto the gamemode, but if that's you, remember this: at least it's fucking matchmade.

Bungie's nerf/buff philosophy can be encapsulated within the history of Whisper of the Worm

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 11:51 AM PDT

In Crota's End Bungie released a legendary sniper rifle that allowed the user to circumvent the ammo economy known as The Black Hammer. Bungie realized how busted this was so they sunset that weapon along with a few others in The Taken King.

Later they reintroduced The Black Hammer as an exotic called "The Black Spindle" which had the same perk, this time as an exotic perk, which allowed the user to circumvent the ammo economy. After a while with the Black Spindle Bungie realized that the ammo regeneration perk was too strong and decided to nerf it so that it simply reloaded the weapon from reserves instead of pulling ammo from thin air.

In the second year of Destiny 2 the essence of the Black Hammer/Black Spindle was recreated in "Whisper of the Worm" which reintroduced the un-nerfed ammo generation perk that Black Hammer and OG Black Spindle had. After a year Bungie re-realized that the heavy ammo generation was too powerful and re-nerfed the exotic perk in the exact same way.

It's like a game of "Live, Die, Repeat" except it's "Be strong, get nerfed, get buffed back to original strength, get nerfed again"

I fully expect swords to get a nerf next season and snipers get some kind of buff overall.

Edited for clarity: Am dumb and forgot Hammer and Spindle were special weapons. Perks worked the exact same as Whisper of the Worm
