    We all mostly agree that it never really lived up to being a full "raid" experience (though it was one of my favorites) and it's still too big to be a strike. But dungeon? Oh yeah. Maybe tune some of the enemy spam but mostly rework the Bridge encounter and it's the perfect size.

    TIL Gambit was originally designed to be the PvE equivalent of Trials

    In this GDC talk, Peter Sarrett details the development process of Gambit from start to finish.

    One of the most interesting parts is where he discusses the original intention for designing the mode was to have a Trials equivalent for PvE. So no matchmaking, only available on weekends, and with an emphasis on team strategy. This also means there was no Invasion mechanic originally, since it was intended to be competitive PvE endgame.

    Towards the end of the development cycle apparently they shifted and made Gambit always available, since Gambit was "too much fun" to only have on weekends (sure). The main change made then was bumping it down to best 2 out of 3, instead of best 3 out of 5.

    I was surprised to learn that - 1 just for the history of Gambit, but also that Bungie tried to make a PvE equivalent of Trials and it didn't really work and we ended up with Gambit instead, so we will probably never see that.

    This also makes the comments on this post hilarious to read - how many other comments where some random player has a "brilliant idea" that Bungie has already built, tested internally, and trashed over a year ago.

    Edit: For those interested, he talks about the Trials equivalence briefly at 4:40 in the video, and then discusses the pivot around 44:00.

    Bungie, please fix Point of the Stag's power limit

    Yes, I know it was supposed to come out during the Season of Dawn but the least we can get for it coming it out later than it was supposed to is the correct power cap, which is 1310, and not 1260. It's one of my favorite weapons in PvE and it'd be a shame to lose it in power-enabled content a season earlier than Dawn weapons.

    You know, cause squid guy Pahanin introduced Eriana-3 to Wei Ning at a saloon, and they became a couple and then Wei Ning died in the Great Disaster, so Eriana swore vengeance and made the First Crota Fireteam which failed due to the additional Strike and Story bosses, but Eris got out which lead to Crota's death which lead to... you get the idea

    I built this range calculator in association with my range chart spreadsheet. Using this tool anyone can identify the damage fall-off distance of any primary weapon without having to do in game tests. All feedback is welcome. I hope you find it useful.

    edit: Changed zoom tier slider so it can also reduce the weapons overall zoom tier - to allow for one to calculate for weapons like Cold Denial that have a lower than normal base zoom factor.

    A (somewhat?) Complete list of the armor objectives for the SoH event.

    Using the data currently on Light.gg I have put toget a visual picture of all the known armor and their objectives for the Solstice of heroes event. It seems that its either still missing or not there but it looks like there is no green tier armor this go around. Also note that regardless of class the requirements to reach the magnificent sets are all the same.

    Edit: Went ahead and marked it for spoiler because Im sure people out there want to be surprised on what they need to do to earn the armor this year.

    Also i could be wrong but iirc for the masterwork objective for the armor you only needed to do the objective once and it carried the progress across all your characters armor. Example would be here you would only need to do PoH ONCE and not 3 separate times for the masterwork objective to count towards each classes own objective. Going through last years armor in DIM it seems I was incorrrect about this. The armor had to be done separately.

    Warlock fashion is in critical need of more love.

    Most of what we have right now is just patterned dresses and antenna helmets, with a few coats and dusters that come from eververse, it's hard to make a warlock look as good as a hunter or titan due to the lack of diversity. We need more stuff like the intrepid set or cormorant blade.

    Bungie should make an exotic sniper that does more damage the farther the shot goes.

    I thought about this while watching SirD a while back and it actually seems like a good idea if it has really low handling, and a bad rpm. The intrinsic could be something like the title, and the perk could be like if u get a precision kill you get increased damage for ur next shot.

    If there's one thing Cold Denial showed us is that lower zoom ease of use is very important. What if we had lower zoom scouts?

    They'd still have the drawbacks of lower body dmg/average and body TTK and (some of them) longer optimal TTKs than HCs, but I bet they'd have more use (especially 150s) if they got a zoom reduction and a slight damage or rof tweaks. I'd definitely use regularly a, say, 17 zoom Polaris Lance! Maps are small Bungie!

    EDIT: the zoom reduction should also reduce range so it would prevent what some people fear, a meta of scout players at the back of the map. Around 40-50m base dropoff start without zoom added should be fair compared with pulses

    EDIT 2: I'm not saying they should have HC zoom like Cold Denial. Something between 16-19 zoom, AR to pulse, would be fair.

    EDIT 3: I talked with a friend (again regarding pvp) and I think some overall interesting changes could be putting lightweight and precision frames at 210rpm (so .86s ttk optimally on both), give precision frames good hipfire and in-air accuracy so the effect is on par with the lightweight effect (while at it, precision HCs should be at 210rpm too imo, .86s ttk is pretty fair with their forgiveness and 140rpms could be buffed to be 2c1b to be on par). The body and average ttks of scouts should remain punishing to not be better than HCs.

    1080 LoS nightfall,

    You are the best farm in the game and I won't be told otherwise.

    I have mw'd all my most used armor, filled my inventory and all 3 postmasters with shards and prisms. I rolled some baller stats on my most used exotics.

    I haven't done a raid, pinnacle gear drop, or anything outside of one bounty for IB THIS WHOLE WEEK. It just doesn't make sense to do anything else, when you can set me up on materials for the next 6-12 months.

    Now please go away so I can justify doing other stuff in the game.

    I love you, come back soon so I can feed my addiction to little golden outlines on my stuff.

    Bring back Glass Needles into D2.

    Don't you hate it when you grind for an exotic and you get it but it has garbage stat distribution? Me too. I just feel exotics are so RNG based that it's almost unfair. You have to grind Master/GM Nightfalls to effectively farm them, you have to hope it drops, and then when ur drops you have to hope it's a good roll. Glass needles should work to where you keep the total in stats, for example let's say I get Stompees with a 64 stat roll, but I can keep rerolling the stat distribution of the stompees until I get a stat distribution I'm happy with. This would make grinding for a good stat roll so much easier and better. Not everyone can sit there for hours on end grinding the nightfall until they get a sick rolled exotic. Glass Needles could be something Xur sells, let's say you get 1 for 10 legendary shards.

    Instead of Warlock bonds, we should have books.

    Just like the Wings of Sacred Dawn, a customisable book on our hip would be so much cooler than the Bonds we currently have.

    I notice a Titan Mark and I notice a Hunter Cloak. They're distinctive and provide character. A book on the hip or chest with varied and wilder designs would not only fit with the Warlock aesthetically but thematically.

    Imagine a vex book covered with digital holography or a Fallen book strewn together with scrap and junk.

    This will likely never happen but at least just make Warlock Bonds more interesting.

    Don't Forget to Pick Up This Week's Weeklies Today

    Even if you don't finish the weeklies today, they'll last 7 more days. With a little luck, we'll get mostly new ones to roll over tomorrow. With Solstice coming, you'll be in gambit and strikes like you probably haven't been in weeks. Might as well pick up all the weeklies now to get a lil extra bright dust to go along with your grind next week.
