This week at Bungie, we kicked off Solstice of Heroes.

If you're anything like us, you're probably neck deep in Majestic armor, smashing through the Solstice of Heroes event. Our yearly celebration of Guardians near and far has begun. Solar, Arc, and Void have each taken a turn in the daily rotation of elemental damage. A few of you have already completed the majority of objectives towards your first Magnificent armor set, and are already off to the races on your alternate classes.

Tomorrow, Trials of Osiris will return at 10 AM PT. Seven wins might be all that's standing between you and your Magnificent glow. Form your fireteam, grab your bounties, and get ready for a fight.

Before we get deeper in the TWAB, we've been seeing some questions on rewards for Solstice 2020 in comparison to years past. Let's take a moment to clear up some confusion.

Last year, a Legendary Sparrow was available to anyone who fully Masterworked every armor piece for all three classes. We got quite a bit of feedback that this felt a little too grindy for a limited-time event. This year, we shifted focus to the individual Solstice of Heroes sets that you'll be investing time in over the next few weeks. Rather than a single reward after completing the armor on all three characters, we're providing a free glow when earning the Magnificent armor sets, per class.

Additionally, we're seeing some players asking why Magnificent armor isn't fully Masterworked when earned. This year, our approach was to give players a new path to earn high-stat rolled armor pieces outside of raids. As these armor sets have a Max Power Cap of 1,360, they'll also have a lifespan that lasts through multiple seasons. End result: Players can spend their time finding that perfect roll through Solstice packages for the duration of Solstice of Heroes. Even after the event has concluded, players can Masterwork their armor pieces at their leisure, and finish up some of their final Majestic objectives to unlock their glow.

    Image Linkimgur

As a final note: Obtaining Majestic armor sets will grant progress bonuses on your other classes. So, if you're like me and got your Magnificent Hunter set already, you'll have a 2x progress bonus for your next character's Renewed and Majestic armor objectives. Once you finish that character up, your third (and maybe final) character will have a 3x progress bonus for armor objectives. Pretty sweet, huh? With this change compared to last year's event, we're expecting to see more players getting all three sets.

We'll be watching the conversation for the duration of the event, so be sure to sound off with feedback as you fly through the EAZ!

    Bungie Foundation Update

It's hard to believe that Bungie Day was a month ago. Time is flying by! We've been eager to give an update from the Bungie Foundation, concerning the Empathic Ghost Shell and the Bungie Foundation Emblem charity initiatives that were available. Senior Foundation Manager Christine Edwards is here today to share the details:

Christine: Last month we celebrated Bungie Day, a beloved tradition that celebrates the best of our community – the camaraderie, the competition, and the care we all have for one another. This year we invited you to incorporate charitable giving into your festivities and you all stepped up in a big way!

We unlocked two unique ways to participate, first through direct donations and second through in-game purchases in the Eververse store. Because of each of you, we raised $602,204.31 in donations and $555,639.06 from the Empathetic Ghost shell, for a whopping $1,157,843.37! Every single dollar will go directly to helping kids in children's hospitals across the country by bringing them engaging digital entertainment that will brighten their day, make their treatments a little bit more bearable, and will remind them that even during hard times, their number one job is to play, smile, and be a kid.

As the parent of one of our patients put it, "[iPads for Kids] has made the experience more like home. It has helped keep King engaged and distracted from the pain."

Another parent told us, "Draven is three years old and has been in the hospital for ATRT in his brain since December 29, 2019. Draven just loves the iPad; it has helped him in so many ways. When he cries and we give him the iPad he stops crying. There's been times where he will fall asleep playing the iPad."

    Image Linkimgur

Each one of you who has given generously to the iPads for Kids program over the past few years has played a direct role in creating smiles, hope, and laughter for kids like King and Draven, along with hundreds of thousands of other kids just like them.

    Thank you.

Time and time again, you come together to show the world what Guardians stand for. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being one of the best communities in this solar system.

    Feeling Fashionable?

With some new Majestic armor sets in the game, we'd be crazy if we didn't host another fashion show. For those new to the conversation, every so often we challenge players to strut their stuff in the wilds of Destiny 2. Mixing shaders, armor pieces, Exotics, and ornaments to find the perfect set, and bonus points to those who find the perfect destination for their photo shoot. If you're selected, you'll walk home with a fancy emblem for your troubles.

    Image Linkimgur

Solstice is a celebration, and we're excited to highlight your fashion sense. Glow up, embrace your Arc, Solar, or Void side, and send some screenshots to @Bungie on Twitter with the hashtag #SolsticeFashionShow. We'll be retweeting winners through Thursday, August 20.

Now, it wouldn't be a fashion show without theming:

    • Players must be wearing at least one Solstice of Heroes armor piece (Renewed, Majestic, or Magnificent).

      • No Glows are required.
    • Players must take a picture on any destination to qualify.

      • In other words, an image of your Guardian in the character inspection screen won't be considered!

Well, what are you waiting for? It's go time! See you out there on the runway.

With Solstice fresh on the mind, Player Support has been diving deep in the Help forums, looking for fresh issues to diagnose. Missing bright dust on bounties, inconsistent objective progress, and a few other minor issues have been discovered.

    This is their report.

    MISSING EMBLEM CONTACT FORM

Players can be eligible to receive Destiny 2 emblems by winning Bungie community contests, purchasing items in the Bungie Store, or by donating to one of the Bungie Foundation's charity campaigns. Sometimes players don't receive their emblem for one reason or another, so we've created a specific contact form to help them obtain their emblem.

We will help players with emblem issues from the following contests or campaigns:

    • Bungie Bounty (Aurora Clash)
    • Movie of the Week (Anamnesis)
    • Outstanding Artists (Aspect of Luminance)
    • Fashion Show (The Levante Prize)
    • Bungie Store
    • Bungie Foundation or Charity Drive

Before requesting help through the contact form, please note:

    • Players must wait at least 15 days from a qualifying contest win or charity campaign.
    • Players should first check their Spam/Junk email folder for any emails that may have their emblem code.
    • Players should check their Collections > Flair > General section for the emblem.

For more information on the various Emblem contests and campaigns, as well as how to request help, please see our Guide for Bungie Contest Emblems article and Missing Emblem Contact Form.

    SOLSTICE BOUNTIES AND BRIGHT DUST

Shortly after Solstice of Heroes launched, Destiny Player Support became aware of an issue where weekly and repeatable bounties for the event were not giving Bright Dust as intended. We are currently investigating solutions to this issue. We are also investigating a solution for those who missed out on earning Bright Dust from these bounties during this time and will be granting Bright Dust to affected players as soon as we can. You can continue to complete and redeem your Solstice of Heroes bounties normally.

    KNOWN ISSUES

While we continue investigating various known issues, here is a list of the latest issues that were reported to us in our #Help Forum:

    • We are aware of an issue where Gambit Prime will not count for Solstice armor with Gambit objectives.
    • We are aware of an issue where Nightfall: The Ordeals will not count for Solstice armor with strike objectives.
    • We are investigating reports of doubled progression progress on Solstice objectives not working for some players.
    • We are aware of an issue where the Majestic Solstice Bond for Warlocks has an objective that incorrectly states to get 150 Guardian Super kills. The objective progresses correctly with Arc Super kills against any enemy.
    • We are investigating an issue where shaders do not properly apply to the Majestic and Magnificent Robes for Warlocks.
    • We are investigating an issue where shaders do not properly apply to the Majestic and Magnificent Cloaks for Hunters.

For a full list of emergent issues in Destiny 2, players can review our Known Issues article. Players who observe other issues should report them to our #Help forum.

Here in the States, we're in the thick of summer. Temperatures have risen, the Sun is out a little more often in Seattle, and we're slowly losing our minds one bead of sweat a time. Many of us are hiding in our living rooms with air conditioners on full blast. No better time to sit back and watch some community creations.

I love nothing more than a montage of Tex Mechanica weaponry being used to dominate the Crucible. Think you've got better clips? Submit a video to the Creations page. Maybe you'll win next week. Maybe you won't. All we know is, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

This is one of those weeks where I'm staying up past midnight to get some sweet loot. It's been nice jumping through older adventures while completing my Solstice armor, or finishing orb requirements through random activities like raids or Zero Hour.

No matter what you play, you'll gain progress towards an objective or two. Longer goals, like "Play 10 Gambit matches," I've been doing at my own pace. A few matches here or there, then shifting to something else to keep things fresh.

For some of you, this is a race. For others, it's a nice stroll through memory lane. However you're tackling Solstice, we hope you're having fun. Have a great weekend, and we'll see you again soon.

    Said it last time...

We get keys everywhere...lots of them. It does not motivate me to kill minibosses in EAZ when 90% of hidden chests are a single key.

Packages are also a blue item...yup a lousy blue item at least 75% of the time. With how rare good loot from the event is there needs to be more packages earned.

The fact that Felwinter's Lie, the objective best energy shotgun in the game that's not getting sunsetted, was only obtainable for a few weeks in one season is a bit of a problem. Make it obtainable as an Iron Banner reward for a bounty or something.

    Posted: 13 Aug 2020 06:16 PM PDT

This isn't really the same as not being able to get subjunctive or adhortative or the sundial weapons- this is a shotgun modelled to be super powerful. Modelled to be meta, and the fact that it will continue to dominate the meta especially in Trials and Iron Banner for the next two seasons and even regular crucible yet is no longer obtainable is just a mistake.

I really hope it gets brought back for the sake of the people who never had the chance to get it.

Title. The amount of people who've I've seen ask about masterworks the last day or two. The masterwork step was replaced with the white glow, masterwoking is done the same as every other piece of armour. So there I've answered your question, no need to make a post.

Bungie should make it that you get bright engrams every tier especially after tier 100

    Posted: 13 Aug 2020 07:27 AM PDT

For those who have never reached tier 100 and above, there is nothing else to get other than a bright Engram every 3-4 tiers, it should change to after a bright Engram per each tier because at that point, no one wants to just see a "level up" prompt and be rewarded with nothing 2-3 times over

Its honestly ridiculous that they dont already, I have like 5,000 kills with my chaperone but its not tracked just because it doesn't have a catalyst, its not really a big deal but its a nice feature and its something they should consider

Solstice glows would be way better if they were at "maximum glow" always

    Posted: 13 Aug 2020 06:56 PM PDT

As is without the glows the armor looks pretty good (once the glitched glow and unshaderable parts are fixed) but it would be way better if the armor glow looked like it was always at max super energy, or if it was at max glow in social spaces

    Posted: 13 Aug 2020 02:58 PM PDT

*Reposting with a more accurate title

The charts and results/data are in the linked google sheet. Enjoy! Around $50k a day in revenue, $1.4 million total in finishers, $900k total for Ruinous Effigy ornament. This data only includes 10 eververse items from season of arrivals and are being sold only for silver, they realistically make much, much more from eververse.

After seeing a post earlier today, I was inspired to collect and quickly chart some data regarding Eververse - Thanks to u/JpDeathBlade for the inspiration. Data is limited to Season of Arrivals Silver only items.

I estimate Bungie gets to keep around 80% of the total revenue = $2.6 million (I estimated Xbox/PS/Steam store takes 20% off of the top of silver purchases). I plan on trying to update this over the remainder of the season to see some other trends.

If you know of any other items that have been sold for Silver *only* over the last few seasons, I will try to add those (looking at you whisper of the worm ornaments)

I've just completed a Destiny mobile game project concept for anybody interested, the main inspiration is Darkest Dungeon!

I'd love peoples feedback and for people to see it!

For the love of the traveler, fix strikes spawning system.

    Posted: 13 Aug 2020 12:32 PM PDT

    Two MAJOR issues:

    1. If someone joins late to the strike, you can't progress to the next section until they spawn in. This is super frustrating to sit in front of a wall for 3 mins just because little John is using McDonald's WiFi.

    2. If I join mid strike, for the love of god Stop spawning me so far back. I'm absolutely sick of running for 5 mins just to catch up with my teammates. It's so dumb. Just spawn me right with them. Why is it so complicated?

Repeatables should reward you more than 10 Bright Dust per completion. I think 50 BD sounds better.

    Posted: 13 Aug 2020 10:33 AM PDT

Since the Solstice of Heroes started, a lot of people are going to max out their Bright Dust earnings to get either the Solstice Cosmetics/and or Glows from EV. It should be pretty noticeable that the repeatable bounties that give you bright dust for 3k Glimmer is only giving you 10 BD in return, which is not a fair way to earn back something the equivalent of 3k glimmer. 10 BD is something that only costs around 1k Glimmer or even lower to around 500 Glimmer.

For something that costs around 3k Glimmer, I think 50 BD per 3k is a much fairer way to earn back what you spend on without sacrificing the glimmer you get. Since you can only have a max of 5 repeatable bounties per vendor: As of Solstice of Heroes: Vanguard, Crucible, Gambit, and the Seasonal Vendor have 20 Repeatable bounties with 50 BD each.

    3,000 x 20 = 60,000 Glimmer.

    50 BD x 20 = 1,000 Bright Dust.

I hope you, Bungie, could see this large issue that people have been clamoring about for months, and since Solstice of Heroes started, it has gotten more attention recently. I hope you increase the Bright Dust rate from the repeatable bounties, or at least, make Bright Dust more accessible and easier to obtain rather than bounty grinding.

Thank you and have a good day getting those glows!

The ship (Solpiercer) and sparrow (Eira’s Grace) should have been made to glow with your armor.

Making lore for all the supers until stasis comes. Day 1:Well of Radiance

*We were outnumbered. No ammo, no weapons.

We were Hurt, our ghosts trying desperately, to heal us, But it was no good.

Then he came, A towering figure with a glowing spear of blue crystal. He had killed many of us. Enough of us.

He could heal his brethren why couldn't we? He could Give them Strength, why not us. I summoned my Dawnblade and Stabbed it into the ground. Our strength returned And our light shined Bright. One day his end will come, Our end will come, But not today.*

Thanks for reading, And be sure to voice your thoughts. Also tell me which one to do next!

    Have a good day Ahead.

The Solar Subclass with the Big Hammer should let you throw it as a one use move that completely drains your Super Energy

    Posted: 13 Aug 2020 09:54 AM PDT

Seriously imagine how cool it would be to just find the right vantage point, jump, and YEET the sicker down and leaves a decent sized AOE of flame, kinda feels like the short end of the straw that you can either, Slam which is slow to use or spin and beyblade around that's good for Crowd Control

Secondary idea is any Solar Subclass Guardians caught in the throw get a small buff to damage

Just a thought of course -^

The EAZ is a cool place, but the game mode is mind-numbingly boring

    Posted: 13 Aug 2020 01:59 AM PDT

Even the occasional prism from opening the packages isn't enough to motivate me to play it more than necessary for the Solstice armor.

The experience just feels very hollow and empty to me, almost like it was left at an unfinished state. Exploring for the first time was surely a fun experience. But after I realized the entire mode consists mostly of moving around the map in circle it completely lost its appeal.

There's zero cooperation even though it's supposedly a "cooperative" game mode. Most of the time people just scatter around the map killing mini bosses, then the big boss appears and dies in less than a minute and everyone splits up again to open chests.

The complete lack of narration also doesn't help. Wouldn't it be nice to have NPCs say something like the Contact event?

I can't believe I'm saying this but I would take another horde mode over this activity.

With the merging of Gambit and Gambit Prime in Beyond Light, what changes, if any, can we expect to the game mode?

    Posted: 13 Aug 2020 08:45 AM PDT

I'm sure in the coming months, probably around the time of Beyond Light's original release date, we will start to hear more and more about the changes that are coming. One that stuck out to me in the Beyond Light reveal that wasn't expanded on further was the combining of Gambit modes. This was mentioned in this article back at the start of Season of Arrivals. The relevant bullet point reads:

Gambit and Gambit Prime are being merged into a single mode, with their original armor visuals available to earn from the Drifter.

As someone who likes Gambit a lot, but feels like it's in desperate need of love, it would be nice to get some information sooner rather than later for those of us still hunting their Reckoner titles. If any community managers happen to stumble upon this post, I would love to have some sort of deep dive into what changes are coming with Gambit as you all have done with other topics in the past prior to a new season.

Some questions I would love to see answered are:

    • Is the features of Gambit Prime, Gambit, or something else entirely taking precedent after the merger?
    • What will happen to those still looking to get their Reckoner title?
    • Will there be refinements to the roles in gambit (Reaper, Collector, Sentinel, and Invader), or is the idea being retired with the armor?
    • If the roles and their armor are staying, how will the sets bonuses be handled with armor sunsetting? If their bonuses are being switched to mods, as an example, it would probably be easier to wait to later to get your title.
    • Will Reckoning have any relevance going into next year? (Personally, I'm more than exhausted of this game mode)

While it's too late for changes or current feedback to be implemented, here's a wish list of things I hope to see coming in Beyond Light for the sake of balancing and making the game mode fresh again:

    • Invasions, while fun and exciting, dominate the flow of the game mode. Defeating blockers, collecting motes, depositing motes, and damaging the boss all revolve around when you are about to be invaded. I would love for the other roles to feel as impactful as the Invader does.
    • Continuing off the previous point, it would be nice to see more of an emphasis on clearing blockers and sending blockers. Perhaps further limiting the number of invasions during the mote collecting phase but making blockers all the more lethal or adding new types? This would give more relevance to Collectors to send them and Sentinels to kill them.
    • Currently, it's too easy to snowball the game by whichever team invades first. Maybe limiting invasions by only allowing them during the damage phase while extending the length of the damage phase (boss health) as a trade off would be a good option? This would remove snow balling in the early game due to the first invasion bias and feeling like there's no chance to catch up while still preserving the impact of invading by healing the enemy prime.
    • Heavy should go to a system similar to Crucible. Allow the entire team to get it, but don't start spawning heavy ammo until at least one team has summoned their prime. Also, disallow the dropping of heavy ammo and use of armaments from the mode. Heavy has its place in Gambit, but it's far too abundant to be balanced right now.

Bungie you already have a bounty that counts teammate kills for your own, so do that with the rest.

    Posted: 13 Aug 2020 11:04 AM PDT

What bounty I'm talking about is the gambit one where you have to kill enemy guardians. It counts your invader kills or if a teammate kills the enemy invader. I really don't like being an asshole to my teammates/blueberries for getting certain objectives done.
