    Trials of Osiris are LIVE

This thread is for all general discussion, questions, thoughts, musings, wonderings, etc. for the Trials of Osiris.

    FAQ

    What is Trials of Osiris?

    • Trials of Osiris is the pinnacle PvP activity. Every Weekend, the best players compete in 3v3 Elimination for one goal: Go Flawless.

    • To start, head to Saint-14 in the Tower Hangar and buy one of the possible passages (see below).

    • To reach Flawless and get to the Lighthouse, you need to win 7 matches without losing one.

    • It uses Win Based Matchmaking, which means you'll face teams with a similar amount of wins on their card. Matches will get harder as you win more matches.

    • There is NO fireteam matchmaking. You need to team up yourself!

    • Power Level matters, however bonus power from the artifact is not enabled.

How Long do the Trials of Osiris last?

    • Event Starts: Every Friday at Daily Reset (1700 UTC).

    • Event Ends: Following Tuesday at Weekly Reset (1700 UTC).

Where do I go to find Guardians to compete with in the Trials?

    • You can head over to /r/Fireteams, www.The100.io, Xbox LFG system, DestinyLFG.net or DestinyLFG.com, or go to the Bungie.net recruitment forum (also available through the Bungie App).

What if I have a question about another piece of armor/weapon or general Trials question?

    • Use Control + F (Or Command + F if on a Mac) and search for keywords in your question. Someone may have asked it already. If they haven't ask right below.

[Humour] Am i a bad person to laugh out loud when I see teammates fall through the floor at the end of the haunted forest?

    Posted: 16 Oct 2020 04:07 AM PDT

I know its easy to get out from under there but it always makes me laugh cos I can remember how it feels especially the first time when you dont know how to get back up.

Kinda reminds me of the tower mission in d1 cosmodrome where you'd get kicked out the door at the top if you dont know.

Edit: Wow thanks for the awards guys! Good to see we all think this shit is funny!

Edit 2: Hey Dmg04 thanks for the comment, hopefully you're getting a laugh too like we all are!

Confession from someone who played since 2014

    Posted: 16 Oct 2020 03:18 PM PDT

    I've soloed strikes and nightfalls

I've killed gods of hive, vex, and fallen alike.

I've won wars that honestly should only count as skirmishes

I've gotten countless exotics and armor sets

I've singlehandedly won a crucible match (the other team was afk)

I've been seen as a paragon pure stupidity in the city

    AND NONE IF THAT MATTERS

Because I'm still the worst guardian ever. My aim is so poor I couldn't hit a pyramid. My luck is defined by the lack of legendaries and glimmer. I die to dregs and harpies alike. I wasted a super on a single goblin. I lost almost every crucible match in d2 and my PVE k/d ratio... best not to speak of that. Not even the Darkness would want me and the only way I managed to kill Oryx was because he stubbed his toe on an engram

Tl;dr: it doesn't matter how long I played or how many exotics i have, I'm still a legend. A legendary guardian known for his less than average performance in service of the City. I still love this game no matter what

Paul Tassi: Why Destiny 2’s Community Team Should Be The Industry Benchmark

    Posted: 16 Oct 2020 05:28 AM PDT

    https://www.forbes.com/sites/paultassi/2020/10/16/why-destiny-2s-community-team-should-be-the-industry-benchmark/#67bd6686a8e3

He is absolutely right. I have never seen another studio have quite the same community team. Only Oliver from Fall Guys is in the same league.

Edit: By popular demand I also going to reference the Warframe and Path of Exile teams who are also in this same league. Community management is important and if so many people are saying they are class acts like our team they deserve praise too.

Can we get some new, not eastern themed, iron banner armor?

    Posted: 16 Oct 2020 10:38 AM PDT

We've gotten eastern themed iron banner armor since launch and it's gone from really cool to looking like an eastern inspired shellfish knight armor and it just looks... bad. We haven't gotten any armor based off of Greek or Roman design yet, or heck, even middle eastern themed armor like Persian or Ottoman. I wanna look like a badass ancient warrior not a really bad quality Dr. Zoidberg cosplay!

Thank you so much Bungie for this game. Best Shooter.

    Posted: 16 Oct 2020 02:43 PM PDT

I'll explain my title in a few. First. I recently took a break from Destiny as it was the only game I played since D1 alpha.

I'd log probably 15-20 hours a week sometimes more - never less.

Took a break to play titles such as Horizon Dawn, Last of Us II, Spiderman, God of War, and Final 7 remake. I wanted to get these stories done with on PS4 so when Ps5 came out I could jump right back into Destiny with the new upgrades.

The Beta for COD Cold War popped up and I decided to give it a shot. I played it for two days... and I'm not sure if I can ever go back to these type of FPS as long as Destiny is around. It (COD) is mildly entertaining but runs dry fast. The coolest part is using real weapons and that's it.

During this break I so badly wanted to jump back into Destiny but I knew once I did I would not finish what I sought out to finish.

So Bungie.. thank you. All the grief you get and applause you receive is rooted in people wanting this game to be the best... Because it is.

TLDR: Destiny is the best FPS hand down.

Despite some annoying flaws, Destiny 2 is an awesome game.

    Posted: 16 Oct 2020 06:55 AM PDT

Something is always OP, content bugged at launch, annoying glitches or restrictions everywhere.

Despite that, Destiny 2 has brought me hours on end of heaps of fun.

I'm pretty sure I found a new Destiny 2 logo coming in Beyond Light.

    Posted: 16 Oct 2020 06:10 PM PDT

I found this logo on Destiny 2's optimization section on GeForce experience. I think it is the new logo for Beyond Light, but I could be wrong. The logo has more of a Beyond Light-ish vibe, and I think I can see an image in the logo? I had to turn up the image exposure to make it easier to see the symbol.

Also, I could be way off the mark and just didn't hear about the new symbol or something.

Been trying an unused seasonal damage mod: "Volatile Conduction" is actually quite fun for build creativity because of how weird it is.

    Posted: 16 Oct 2020 02:10 AM PDT

It kind of dumb/ weird: This season be like "Solar, your classes are already great but have a better neutral game hehe. Void, you too buddy, you earned it. Arc...you're barely used by most players but use this mod to nearly kill yourself for your damage buff lol, and it is super only."

Anyway... there is one exotic and a mod setup that makes Volatile conduction super viable in PvE; that is of course Tommy's Matchbook for self-burning, and using charged with light "protective light."

It's already a fun build running Tommy's as it's such a fun exotic by itself just going BRRRrrrr and wrecking everything - the 'protective light' gives you extra protection when you take a single hit after the shield goes, (and what blew my mind is that protective light doesn't proc from Tommy's alone and you have to take a hit from an enemy first which is excellent for it's usability).

Running mid-tree Stormcaller, Geomag stabilizers with volatile / Tommy's already synergizes well because of pulsewave on the class giving you better movement and reload speed just for breaking your own shield with it... AND thanks to Tommy's you have "Volatile Conduction" on command which gives the super a HUGE damage buff if you pop it while your shield is gone.

This, I think, has made Chaos Reach the single highest DPS super you can get, it's ridiculously strong.

I have been having a blast throwing up Kamehameha's and melting bosses with this, and I would love to see more builds with it before the season is over!

I also tried this mod / combo with Titan Thundercrash and I halved this weeks Nightfall boss' HP with it. It is hilarious seeing the Titan super-boop hit this hard.

I know that Solar and Void options are just too OP and too good, and made this mod pretty much redundant, but seriously, try it out for some fun.

If you ever want to solo the current dungeons, do it now!

    Posted: 16 Oct 2020 12:25 PM PDT

In various groups/parties the last few weeks, I've been talking up the recent announcements and especially how I suspect the Solo and Solo Flawless Dungeons are about to substantially get harder in difficulty due to changes. Guardians, if you have any interest in doing these challenges, DO THEM NOW.

Here is why... starting with the stuff that Bungie has for sure said ...

The End of "Taken" and "Hive" Mods

The Taken and Hive mods are critical parts of any current Solo or Solo Flawless Dungeon strat. Specifically "Barrier" which grants a reduction of incoming damage and "Armaments" which grants Heavy on some grenade kills, these mods play a huge role in survivability and dps for Dungeon's challenging encounters when solo.

    The Erosion of The Mountain[top]

Cozmo tweeted in a response to Aztecross that the Mountaintop will see an adjustment in addition to its sunsetting (I feel like that is a sign it has an exotic brother coming, but thats off-topic). I know not everyone has this beast of a weapon, which like other PVP Pinnacles from season 3 onward turned out to be PVE beasts as well, but if you have it, you know it plays a big role in your endgame PVE. If you would use it in the Solo challenges, then your time to do so may be dwindling.

... moving on to the stuff that isn't 100% clear, but likely ...

Two Engines Into One... Less Exploits... No More "Ball Dupe"?

If you've played the Pit of Heresy, you know that the Totems encounter is the wildest encounter, and on solo, it is pure insanity. That is why a prevailing Solo strategy is to "ball dupe", which exploits a game glitch to bypass a number of the mechanics and quickly end the encounter. It is strongly theorized that this is possible via the player creating a "race" between the "Mission" and "Physics" engines, which with Beyond Light, will be merged into one. I strongly suspect that while this merger will fix a number of nasty bugs moving forward (ie: "why do I always whiff when tossing balls at Ca'uor in Spire of Stars?") it will also make player-advantage exploits less common or at least harder to pull off.

PS: If you want to be boss, you don't have to abuse the exploit for the solo challenge, but if you are taking this advice to get the solo/solo flawless done in the next three weeks, then you shouldn't handicap yourself and come back to do it "legit".

    Oppressive Darkness Into the Vault

Oppressive Darkness is an insanely powerful artifact mod that we had for the first time a few seasons ago and will likely cycle out for a time (or all time) next season. It is very useful for higher burst DPS during certain Dungeon encounters and especially on certain classes. Especially as a hunter main who uses invisibility instead of Wells and Bubbles to improve solo survivability, I will see a huge loss of burst DPS when this mod takes a break. My vote: take advantage of it now, especially if you are a Titan or Hunter main.

Weapon Balance Pass Will Likely Affect Other Favorites

A lot of solo guides build around a handful of great weapons. These include Falling Guillotine, Xenophage, Witherhorde, Recluse, and a few more. And Bungie knows that and can ask the important question, like "why?" and "does that mean it's OP?" I suspect adjustments to some of these weapons, especially the Falling Guillotine sword.

    ... so in conclusion ...

    Final Thoughts

If I wanted to make a bigger list, I could. For example, there are questions about how Prophesy Triumphs will be handled and whether old Dungeons might see their Power Level increased--meaning sunsetting begins to matter. There is a possibility larger sandbox changes will affect things, similar to the Shadowkeep changes changing the PVP efficacy of Hand Cannons.

And of course, who knows if the Stasis subclasses will be so powerful that it will make everything easier anyway (like the Forsaken subclass attainments changed Leviathan forever)?

But at the end of the day, if you find yourself wanting to play Destiny today but not knowing what to do or you are feeling a little bored, these challenges are there. And if you want to do something difficult but fun and rewarding in your last three weeks before the end of the season, give these a try.

    Are we getting scary?

    Posted: 16 Oct 2020 08:35 PM PDT

We're getting ridiculously powerful. Light and Dark, we can use both. Most can only use one or the other. We slayed gods from every faction, Hive, Vex, Fallen, and Cabal are just afraid of us. Not the Guardians or Humanity, us.

The Kingslayer. The Young Wolf. Crota' End. Hero of the Red War. The Man who Avenged Cayde Six. The Cursebreaker. The Shadow of the Earth. The Legend.

Saint will say we have a hundred titles he couldn't even remember and he's our biggest fan.

We're obviously not hesitant when going on rampages and not even Ghost likes it when we start killing everything (check the Right Choice lore). We are probably the most powerful guardian, if not one of the top 10 most powerful beings in the universe by the time Lightfall comes.

Just a thought. I keep thinking all this power might makes us insane or at least godlike.

Makes me wonder whats gonna kill us.

Why is 1kv unironically more like Xol than whisper?

    Posted: 16 Oct 2020 06:55 AM PDT

Xol is a worm that fights in a variety of ways. Primary, he belly flops on people that get close like giant meat spaghetti, or he shoots us with a fiery face laser.

Riven is a Taken Ahamkara that, throughout the course of the raid, grants us wishes that feed her power.

Wouldn't it make more sense for the weapon that looks like it would be a good bludgeon and shoots a laser to be given by the face laser spaghetti monster?

Wouldn't it make more sense for the taken wish dragon to find eternal life by becoming what was one of the most asked for exotics?

    Perspective.

Edit: I did not expect to get to the front page with a post that seriously used the phrase "giant meat spaghetti."

Can we please take a moment to appreciate how good the “Last Call” mission is?

    Posted: 16 Oct 2020 02:19 PM PDT

As well as the entire campaign and expansion really, but this mission in particular I decided to replay recently and damn it's amazing. The en media res, dialogue, character interaction, mission structure, introduction to the Scorn, incredible music, and, of course, Cayde's last stand are all just so great. The first time I played it I knew I was in for a treat.
