    Trials of Osiris are LIVE

This thread is for all general discussion, questions, thoughts, musings, wonderings, etc. for the Trials of Osiris.

    FAQ

    What is Trials of Osiris?

    • Trials of Osiris is the pinnacle PvP activity. Every Weekend, the best players compete in 3v3 Elimination for one goal: Go Flawless.

    • To start, head to Saint-14 in the Tower Hangar and buy one of the possible passages (see below).

    • To reach Flawless and get to the Lighthouse, you need to win 7 matches without losing one.

    • It uses Win Based Matchmaking, which means you'll face teams with a similar amount of wins on their card. Matches will get harder as you win more matches.

    • There is NO fireteam matchmaking. You need to team up yourself!

    • Power Level matters, however bonus power from the artifact is not enabled.

How Long do the Trials of Osiris last?

    • Event Starts: Every Friday at Daily Reset (1700 UTC).

    • Event Ends: Following Tuesday at Weekly Reset (1700 UTC).

Where do I go to find Guardians to compete with in the Trials?

    • You can head over to /r/Fireteams, www.The100.io, Xbox LFG system, DestinyLFG.net or DestinyLFG.com, or go to the Bungie.net recruitment forum (also available through the Bungie App).

What if I have a question about another piece of armor/weapon or general Trials question?

    • Use Control + F (Or Command + F if on a Mac) and search for keywords in your question. Someone may have asked it already. If they haven't ask right below.

The changes to 110s and 140s is precisely the reason why my vault is always at 498/500

    Posted: 23 Oct 2020 01:35 PM PDT

My weapon-hoarding tendencies of keeping tons of different guns "just in case they become good" has been thoroughly validated and I don't know if that's a good or bad thing.

Fun Fact: A Sniper Rifle with both Triple Tap and Fourth Time’s The Charm with a 7 round magazine would be able to shoot off 31 rounds without reloading

    Posted: 23 Oct 2020 01:39 PM PDT

Subsequently, reducing the rounds to 6 makes it 23, 5 makes it 19, 4 makes it 11, and 3 makes it 7.

Not sure what anyone would do with that information but I just found it pretty interesting. It'd be hilarious to see this in game but it would be absolutely broken beyond belief

You will be able to tell in-game what gear has been "sunset" very easily.

    Posted: 23 Oct 2020 12:11 PM PDT

For those that don't know, Bungie release a Help Article a while ago when sunsetting was first announced. That guide is linked below :

    https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/49106

Essentially, once a piece a gear reaches its "maximum power level" the season icon colors will invert. So all of your gear currently black transparent with a white logo -- that will reverse when that gear becomes sunset and is no longer able to be infused. It will turn into a white transparent with a black logo.

I'll be upset if the new Adept Weapon features aren't present in future Raids and Dungeons...

    Posted: 23 Oct 2020 05:33 AM PDT

I love the sound of the new Adept Weapon features coming to Trials. As a mostly PvE player, I really hope they bring those same Adept Weapon features to Raids and Dungeons.

EDIT: Sorry, everyone. There's nothing to see here! Apparently, I'm not allowed to want Adept weapons to show up in Raids and Dungeons. My opinion "sucks dick". So I guess there's no need to discuss further...

EDIT 2: As u/locky-770 pointed out, my wording is bad in the title. "Upset" comes off too strong here, and shouldn't be taken so seriously. I should've said "I'll be bummed".

Collapsing 150 and 140 hand cannons into one archetype makes sense. What about the same for the 200rpm and 180rpm scouts?

    Posted: 23 Oct 2020 08:20 AM PDT

Title. 180 rpm scouts are completely pointless, they still take 3 crit 1 body to kill and are slower. 200's are 0.9 sec, and 180's are 1 sec.

    180's do 55 per crit, 200's do 54... Literally 1 point different.

The only difference is body shot ttk. It takes 7 body shots to kill from a 200 (31 damage) Vs 6 (35 damage) from a 180.

Wouldn't it make sense to collapse the archetype into just the lightweight archetype and buff the body shot damage to 35 to allow 6 shots for a body kill?

The precision frame scouts basically bring nothing to the table at all. 1 sec ttk with the same amount of crits to kill as 200's and nothing else except slightly increased body shot damage.

200's however, have a decent 0.9 sec ttk, and provide a speed boost and have high handling stats.

I think this would make sense.

    Posted: 23 Oct 2020 04:37 AM PDT

All I want is to have my team hive kills count toward my bounties, etc. I know you're more than capable of having bounties track across a fireteam. It would give me incentive to keep playing along my fireteam and not have to go mach 5 to try and beat my team for kills. Obviously certain bounties like gunsmith will be just for us but like them dang vanguard bounties. Come on.... Please just let us play nicely together :(

Thought it was time to share again since we're just a few weeks away from Ada and the forges vanishing into the DCV. Thanks to the peeps who mirrored the clip to YT! Also RIP my beloved Blast Furnace with 21K kills.

a reminder for bungie that lightweight and agressive swords exist and that it would be cool to have them usable on all three classes

    Posted: 23 Oct 2020 06:40 PM PDT

also new sword types would be rad too
like the reason we all loved guillotine all season and laserboi for two weeks before we figured out what guillotine is that they are fresh compared to 80% of the weapon that just plays exactly the same right?

But while you aren't holding an smg, the mecha-holster actually closes!

Turning all Lightweight hand cannons into Adaptives was ultimately a great decision for the health of PvP.

    Posted: 23 Oct 2020 12:47 PM PDT

I don't dislike 150s at all, actually, which the following text may contradict, but just hear me out. While not overpowered in the sense of feeling unfair, 150s have been stifling the primary Crucible meta for a while, and this new change will definitely breathe new life into the primary PvP meta. Another thing to note is that this is all purely my thoughts on what may probably happen to some degree. I can't see the future. Additionally, before I begin any of this, I already hear the adaptive auto rifle argument coming. First off, 600 ARs had a similar problem, but not for nearly as long, as they're getting a deserved small nerf with Beyond Light after over half a year or so. Plus, with these ARs, the community recognized the problem relatively quickly, which is where the main difference lies between the two weapons.

150s have always had an unshakable presence within the Crucible, but the vast minority acknowledges this. In fact, a connection could be drawn between the overtuning of 600 ARs and the dominance of 150 HCs. They've always simply been great at everything both before and after the Shadowkeep hand cannon nerf, often the best in certain categories (handling, aim assist, low zoom) with no real drawbacks. They even provide a mobility buff (and in turn, a hunter dodge buff). For a long time, they've been the single easiest and most forgiving primary weapon archetype to use with THAT low of a TTK (before 600 ARs got buffed), and somewhere down the line, they became the "standard" for primary weapons somewhere down the line, despite being one of the clear outliers for the longest time. This discreet dominance can be blamed on the other, more overpowered primaries that have always been introduced to the sandbox (Luna's/NF, Recluse, adaptive autos, etc), but that's a whole different discussion.

Now that 150s will be brought down to the level of everything else, think of all the primary weapons that will be able to shine through even more. Other hand cannon subarchetypes will finally have a reason to be used with their coming buffs and range fixes. Pulse rifles overall will finally be pushed past "off-meta options with diminishing returns compared to hand cannons" to being on the same level as them. The 600 rpm AR nerf in conjunction with the 150 removal will give the other AR buffs a chance to mean something as well, as well as giving the previously-just-okay 360 RPMs a chance to be significant without receiving a buff that would make them undoubtedly broken. Sidearms will only continue to get more recognition, even if they're already pretty decent in the current sandbox.

What this change definitely DOESN'T mean is that the primary meta in PvP will be completely fair and balanced. Scouts will still lack utility even after their aim assist buff; SMGs will still be outclassed, even within their own ranges; and bows will still be bows. This simply means that, in my opinion, the primary meta will be far more diverse come Beyond Light.

(TL;DR: Don't be lazy, read the whole thing so you don't take anything out of context.)

Got a really cool achievement today

    Posted: 23 Oct 2020 03:57 AM PDT

And I feel like a preschooler. My clan made some discord roles which would get a star next to your name in our channel for completing. One was solo flawless all dungeons which I got, and was happy. Today I got the elite Sherpa role which was flawless in every raid, complete each 15 times, and Sherpa 15 people. Before this season I wasn't much of a raider but, like I child, I really wanted a gold star next to my name. Today I finally got it. I'm really pleased, and along the way to my flawless runs I managed to get a lot of low man runs in too. This game continues to be fun if you find new ways to punish yourself :)

I'm incredibly sad about Thorn as a 140

    Posted: 23 Oct 2020 03:41 AM PDT

Not because of pvp ttk, not because of balancing complaints (I think the 140/150 merge had to happen).

Purely because Thorn is a 150 to me, I've used it for so long that way, the cadence, the sound effect, the animation at that speed.

    My poor Thorn :(

Can the "no hud" notification stop appearing or reappearing?

    Posted: 23 Oct 2020 12:10 PM PDT

Every time I exit out of a menu, I get this warning telling me something I already knew when I did it.

I usually turn off hud to take screenshots, and I find it hard to take quick screenshots when a bright red message appears and lasts more than a second before I could take the pic.
