    Trials of Osiris are LIVE

This thread is for all general discussion, questions, thoughts, musings, wonderings, etc. for the Trials of Osiris.

    FAQ

    What is Trials of Osiris?

    • Trials of Osiris is the pinnacle PvP activity. Every Weekend, the best players compete in 3v3 Elimination for one goal: Go Flawless.

    • To start, head to Saint-14 in the Tower Hangar and buy one of the possible passages (see below).

    • To reach Flawless and get to the Lighthouse, you need to win 7 matches without losing one.

    • It uses Win Based Matchmaking, which means you'll face teams with a similar amount of wins on their card. Matches will get harder as you win more matches.

    • There is NO fireteam matchmaking. You need to team up yourself!

    • Power Level matters, however bonus power from the artifact is not enabled.

How Long do the Trials of Osiris last?

    • Event Starts: Every Friday at Daily Reset (1700 UTC).

    • Event Ends: Following Tuesday at Weekly Reset (1700 UTC).

Where do I go to find Guardians to compete with in the Trials?

    • You can head over to /r/Fireteams, www.The100.io, Xbox LFG system, DestinyLFG.net or DestinyLFG.com, or go to the Bungie.net recruitment forum (also available through the Bungie App).

What if I have a question about another piece of armor/weapon or general Trials question?

    • Use Control + F (Or Command + F if on a Mac) and search for keywords in your question. Someone may have asked it already. If they haven't ask right below.

Bungie, all I want for Christmas [Dawning] is the return of the Titan Commando Type 0 set as universal ornaments

    Posted: 30 Oct 2020 05:25 PM PDT

Mike Jensen designed some of, IMO, the most iconic looking Titan gear of the original Destiny. Such highlights include the original Vault of Glass armor, the Spektar armor, and the Sunbreaker armor (aka Murvaux, which has already been reprised in Destiny 2 as an Eververse ornament set). He also modeled the Taikonaut helmet and Dunemarchers, for that matter.

My absolute favorite, however, remains the Commando Type 0: Link to designer's ArtStation page and shots of Commando Type 0

It was originally featured in Vanguard and Crucible flavors during House of Wolves, and then brought back by Dead Orbit as the Heliopause set in Taken King.

That set captures perhaps better than any other set a look that straight up says "I am worn by the veteran Titan who spends a lot of time afield and on small or individual unit commando raids." In fact the flavor text on the Vanguard chest says exactly that: "The Vanguard selects elite Titans to form commando cadres."

    Titans need this armor back.

EDIT: You know, while we're at it, The Dustwalker set for Hunters would be awesome to see a return of as well.

EDIT 2: We did it reddit, we crashed Mike's website with traffic. Updated OP with fresh link to Mike's ArtStation instead of the original link to Mike's website which was here whenever it comes back online.

Why not put 100 Bright dust in every rank past 100 before engram drops?

    Posted: 30 Oct 2020 01:20 AM PDT

This would mean that, as an example, ranks 101-104 would all drop 100 dust per rank (totalling at 400) followed by an engram. This would certainly improve this whole situation of 55% of total seasonal weekly bounties being halved. Hypothetically, if you had an engram every 5 levels, with 100 dust every level between them, you'd end up with 8000 by rank 200. Not as much as the main track by any means, but it would certainly not break the economy. If anything, this would help ease the divide from then and now, offering a much more approachable way of getting dust, while also helping the grind and improving gains for both casual and dedicated grinders alike.

For reference, a repeatable bounty offers 10 BD and 4000 XP. A season pass rank-up is 100,000 xp. Assuming you had a full seasonal XP bonus, this would bring that XP up to 5808. This would mean a rank-up would take roughly 17 repeatable bounties, not counting XP from activities or any new ghost xp perks. Likely, this could be shortened to 14, 15, (maybe even lower) bounties, meaning this XP would be equivalent to somewhere around 100 to 170 anyway. What I'm trying to get at here isn't about XP gains for this, but moreso trying to showcase the value of a level in proportion to how much grinding it would normally take within a week to acquire that same amount. Having this exist in the game would likely not really break current bright dust gains, and if anything would alleviate the pains of bounties as well as allow a degree of excitement between levelling instead of the empty rewards we're currently given between engram drops.

    Here is the graphic

After the progression and economy changes we learned about yesterday this was the best way I could think to level up for the raid. If anyone here can think of anything I should change or add to it I would really appreciate it.

    Goodbye Whisper Thrall Room! <3

    Posted: 30 Oct 2020 05:26 AM PDT

I'd like to take a moment of your time to give a special goodbye to a place close to my heart. The Whisper thrall room, or as I like to call it, the catalyst corner. Let's make sure to visit this special spot in the next 10 days before it gets vaulted!

Running around EDZ hours on end,
    Catalysts were long and hard work to mend;
    Moving around between spawns,
Getting angry at newbies, "stop stealing kills you pawns!".

But then into my life you came,
    A room with endless thralls to game;
A little corridor you had at your end,
Where many thralls ended up dead.

"There's no light here" the voice said,
    But nonetheless light there we made;
Goodbye for now, may you quickly return,
For doing catalysts elsewhere is quite the ass burn.

Revive Nova Warp & Subclass. It Got Nerfed to The Ground.

    Posted: 30 Oct 2020 06:51 AM PDT

Nova Warp (N.W.) and the whole subclass is in a very sorry state.

In the beginning there was legitimate concerns and illegitimate whining. Bungie later said "the Nova Warp super is too dominant right now". But now Hunters dominate. So the big questions are...why & how was N.W. too dominant? It needed a very close look, then small changes in specific areas, not a total nerf of every aspect. And now its rarely used. Keep in mind, it's a ROAMING super and requires CHARGE TIME to attack. It's about balance. Some ideas I've seen...

Start with the first, original, before nerf, N.W.

    • Reduce duration to match other roaming supers
    • If you decrease duration, then increase mobility, don't nerf both (D.N.B.)
    • If you raise the energy costs to charge/hold attacks and to Dark Blink, that will impact duration, D.N.B.
    • If you nerf attack damage, then buff charge time, D.N.B.
    • If you lower the radius, then raise the attack damage, D.N.B.
    • If you nerf the user damage resistance, then buff ONE... range or charge time or attack damage
    • Don't punish charging and holding, this is needed because you are defenseless while charging and must be close to targets...with shotguns
    • Supers with charged attacks are at a disadvantage in close combat with supers with non-charge instant lunge attacks
    • Add full detonation when super is first being activated
    • When holding a charge, it should detonate if killed before release
    • No kills going through walls
    • Slightly lower spread and range of Handheld Supernova, that's it. No self damage, no charge times.

Edit - More ideas from comments:

    • Super has no sprint and has to depend on Blink for mobility.
    • Slight buff to Blink & Dark Blink abilities at there core, without exotics. Add timer like Icarus Dash.
    • If you increase Dark Blink energy cost, then increase the distance, D.N.B.
    • Dark Blink is needed to stay alive, you spend time charging attacks and getting close. So if you nerf damage resistance, then buff Dark Blink, D.N.B.

One of the saddest things about leaving Mars on November 10 is that the Hunters never had a chance to get Flayer Mantle back.

    Posted: 30 Oct 2020 01:30 PM PDT

Remember those cloaks designs? From a Mars strike back in Destiny 1.

    *nostalgia link*

I'm sure Bungie can bring it back for Year 4, but I don't see how. It would have to be a specific boss somewhere.

Almost 4 years of Destiny 2, and never have I ever gotten or been in a Tower with a Dance Party Key event

    Posted: 30 Oct 2020 04:19 PM PDT

I don't have a bunch of raids cleared so I probably wouldn't have gotten any keys myself with how low the drop chances are, but damn. Hard to believe that with how much time I've logged in the Tower over 3 years, I've never seen an event from someone else.

    3D printed Pyramid ship

    Posted: 30 Oct 2020 11:54 AM PDT

Bungie if you’re going to mess up the bright dust economy even more, at least don’t act like you’re doing it to “make it better for the players.”

    Posted: 30 Oct 2020 05:20 AM PDT

I understand that Eververse is a part of the game that is here to stay and y'all want to make profits from cosmetics. It kinda sucks for us sometimes (most of the time), but I can accept it.

But you trying to pass off these garbage changes for bright dust over the course of Destiny 2 as "we did this to help the player base" is annoying and insincere. You taking out the prismatic matrix was pretty telling of how much you actually care, cheers for that one btw.

Just come out and say "throw your money at the screen for cosmetics", but stop the charades bullshit about trying to "help the players" with these updates to bright dust stuff.

    ——————————————————————————

Edit 1: Yes, the fact that they are adding more bright dust to the season pass is good. Props to Bungie in that regard, hopefully it's implemented correctly.

But, nerfing the bounties is going to reduce the total possible amount available going forward, even with the season pass factored in. Grinding the bounties still sucks right now (at 200 per), but at least the option is there if you put in the time. Doing them for only 100 bright dust is just going to suck more.

Also, as far as the hardcore versus casual thing people are bringing up:

    • I'm glad that some players feel like this will help them get more items next season if they didn't do the bounties much.
    • I personally just play one or two days a week at night and try to do a few bright dust bounties/dungeon run/afk in orbit for no reason, so maybe I fall somewhere in the middle of casual/hardcore folks.
    • I just think this two steps forward one step back thing with certain updates is getting old, or whatever metaphor you want to use instead.

    ——————————————————————————

Edit 2: Yeah I think the bounties are bad too, I'm not saying they're the end all solution to fix this problem lmao. But they aren't creating a new system to fix things, they're just shifting weights around to where:

    • More bright dust from the season pass, coolio.
    • Bounties (which I agree, are bad/boring) are staying, but rewards are getting halved.
    • Overall you're going to be able to earn less bright dust in total next season :)))

I'm not saying bounties are the answer, and trust me I don't enjoy them either. But Bungie only gives us these two options for earning bright dust consistently (Yeah it also rarely drops in bright engrams, whoopie). So yeah, I wish we didn't have to do bounties for extra bright dust but I can't exactly change that.

With that being the case and the total possible bright dust earned for the season decreasing, their way of "fixing" the issue is bad.

    Ikora really needs some love.

    Posted: 30 Oct 2020 08:46 PM PDT

Just like your average Warlock, she seems to of been forgotten by Bungie. The last time she left the tower was in Shadowkeep and all she did was look at stuff. She even has a lore entry that talks about what she's been doing for the pass couple of years and she's rewriting a couple of books...really? That's her priority right now.

Both Zavala and Ana are apparently still running missions in the field as shown in Season of the Worthy and Ikora is writing books. Everyone is talking about Zavala's mental state, it's Ikora that is the problem, a supposed top tier guardian doing nothing, and I mean literally nothing. In game she has no purpose. Atleast make her a major character in the seasons to come instead of just being some chick on the tower with a name.

As it stands rights now, Hawthorne is a more helpful character then Ikora and Hawthrone spends most of her time with a bird. The gal needs a win, atleast let some of the ladies take her on a girls night out
for some family friendly cabal burning, she needs something to literally get her back on the field. She's the only member of the vanguard who still feels like they're in D1. The most she interacts with you if when you run past her as a blur. Honestly, I'm a little scared that Bunge doesn't know what to do with her and will kill her off. Cayde also had a useless role in the game when he got axed. Maybe she's next.

[Spoilers] Noticed something about Icefall Mantle

    Posted: 30 Oct 2020 09:00 AM PDT

It appears that your barricade doesn't regen as long as you have the overshield up. This might be how they intend to balance the exotic.

At tier 10 resilience you'd have around 20s of downtime which isn't bad but you won't be able to chain one overshield into the other.

Everybody whining about Bright Dust when Vanguard and Crucible tokens are now nearly worthless.

    Posted: 30 Oct 2020 12:23 PM PDT

If they only give us gear 20 power levels below and we don't get a weapon refresh basically all they are god for is to get armor for collections.

Can we get some more value out of these like turning in a bunch for ornaments or pinnacle drops for higher stat rolls or something??

Bungie we need to have a serious talk about the perk traction with controllers on pc.

    Posted: 30 Oct 2020 05:50 PM PDT

First off, yes I play with a controller on PC, I'm sorry I have bad carpal tunnel from way to much counter strike back in the day.

Why is it that as a controller user I have to put myself at a double disadvantage depending on if I have traction on my boots or not?

    1. If I don't have traction on my boots I turn like a semi going through a drive through.

    2. If I do put on traction then I lose out on an extra perk that a mouse and keyboard player would get.

Why can't traction be done away with and the turning speed that traction provides made into the default turn speed?

What's up with mod components? That portion of the economy should have been touched on

    Posted: 30 Oct 2020 09:16 AM PDT

Basically, I feel like they kinda suck to grind for a new player. Most players who have been playing reasonably long have a ton of them and they are currently only used to buy random mods each day, if you didn't get them in a rank up package.
