This week at Bungie, there is just a lot going on right now.

What a week. It started out with a brand new ViDoc showcasing Bungie developers giving you a behind-the-scenes look at what we've been cooking up from home. Now we'll pause the TWAB for 15 minutes so you can go watch it in all its glory. Even if you already watched it, go watch it again. Don't worry, we'll wait on you.

    Video Link

That was your first look into Season of the Hunt, as well as a deeper dive into Beyond Light, Stasis, New Light, and our plans for Year 4. We also mentioned that most Seasonal content is going to be sticking around throughout the year and showed off a new calendar for Beyond Light and Season of the Hunt. Start writing these dates in your calendars, or I guess like - programming them into your virtual calendars. You do you.

We followed that up by pushing out the Beyond Light launch trailer this morning featuring some good vibes and a familiar soundtrack. It's one of the last action-packed previews of Beyond Light you'll get before it launches in less than a fortnight. We'll pause the TWAB one more time so you can watch it, but this is it. No more pauses after this!

    Video Link

That's all we got for you this week...

Nah, just kidding. We got a lot more to cover. Let's get to it.

    Progression Changes

The start of any new Destiny expansion begins with a Power climb as you experience the campaign and play through the story missions. After finishing that up and completing some additional quests and activities, you're usually around what we call the "Soft Cap" and will need to start earning Powerful rewards to continue to increase Power so you can tackle some of the more aspirational activities in the endgame. After you reach the "Hard Cap" then there is an additional 10 Power you can earn through earning pinnacle rewards if you choose to hit the "Pinnacle Cap."

Here are the new Power Caps you are aiming for when the next Season begins on November 10:

    • Soft Cap: 1200
    • Hard Cap: 1250
    • Pinnacle Cap: 1260

When you first log in next Season, all of your weapons and armor will be at 1050 Power or higher. If you have anything already over 1050 it will be unchanged, and anything under will be brought up to 1050. All new players will start at 1050 as well.

    Powerful Reward Changes

We've heard a lot of feedback from players for more opportunities to earn Powerful rewards from the activities you enjoy most. We have a change coming that will allow you to have a chance to earn Powerful rewards from strikes, Gambit, Crucible, and from Seasonal drops all the way up until the Hard Cap. It will still be much quicker to continue to complete all the Powerful reward sources each week, but if you just want to play strikes or Crucible matches all day every day, you can continue to earn Powerful rewards.

We hope this helps you to continue increasing your Power during the period when you are still close to the Soft Cap and may find completing some of the Powerful sources like The Ordeal very difficult.

    Tokens and Collections

Destiny is at its best when you are shooting aliens, getting loot, and becoming more powerful. That gameplay loop breaks down when the best way to increase your Power can be standing in the Tower, handing tokens to Lord Shaxx.

Starting next Season, gear received from Collections and turning in tokens and will have a lower Power than in previous Seasons. Gear earned through token purchases will be 20 Power below your Power Level and Collection buybacks will be capped at 1050 Power.

    Economy Changes

Some currencies and items have changes coming either at the end of this Seasons or in the near future. Here is what to expect when you login next Season.

    Materials with No Home

With several destinations going into the Destiny Content Vault, many of you have been wondering what is going to happen to the currencies found in the areas currently underneath the Pyramids. The simple answer is that there are no changes to these currencies in Season of the Hunt, and you will be able to continue to spend them at vendors normally.

Starting in Season 13, Phaseglass Needles, Alkane Dust, Simulation Seeds, and Seraphite will be no longer accepted by vendors. For those of you that still have unspent stockpiles at the end of Season of the Hunt, Spider will be kind enough to offer a small Glimmer exchange to take them off your hands. But you'll realize the best value by spending them before that point, so make sure you turn in your stockpiles before the end of next Season.

There are other items that will be removed from your inventory at the end of Season of Arrivals. Some, like Faction Tokens, have not had a purpose in quite a while, and others, like Expired Ramen Coupons, never really had a purpose but held some sentimental value. We know that it might hard to part with those, but it's time to let them go.

Check out this Help article for the full list of items that will no longer be in your inventory at the start of Season of the Hunt.

    Bounties

Back in late April, we shared some plans on how to tackle the problem of "bounty fatigue." We have made some shifts to seasonal bounties and reduced their importance on earning seasonal currency and seasonal progress. We're happy with these changes, but still want to continue to improve the bounty system overall.

One of the plans we previewed was to eventually replace weekly bounties with a new mechanism to provide players with a set of non-expiring and account-scoped objectives each week that will grant lots of Season rank progress. We're still working on that system and will share more on it before its targeted release of Season 13.

    Season Pass

The Season Pass you've come to know since Shadowkeep is largely staying the same. There will be new weapons and armor to earn off both the free track and the owned path. One big change we are making is adding Bright Dust to the Season Pass.

As mentioned before, we wanted to change the way you earn Bright Dust and move more towards account-specific paths to give players with only one character significantly more Bright Dust than they've been earning over the last year. Here is the high-level look at the changes coming next Season.

    • Season Pass free path will now offer 7,500 Bright Dust
    • Season Pass owned path will now offer 3,000 Bright Dust
    • Weekly Bounties will now award 100 Bright Dust

With these changes, the vast majority of players will be earning more Bright Dust than before. One of our goals here is to not have a system that pushes you to try to grind out every weekly bounty on all three characters every single week. Whether you are a three-character player or only play a Hunter, Bright Dust will be more available when earning ranks on the Season Pass. We will also be making a change to the timing of Season Pass rank purchases which will be available starting in week five instead of week nine.

We have more plans for improving how you earn Bright Dust coming in Season 13 and will continue to monitor your feedback.

I've been talking a lot. Let's change it up. Here is Design Lead Justin Dazet to tell you about some changes Spider is making to his wares and to answer a question we have been seeing about the customization updates we are making to your Ghosts.

    Spider's Dealings

Justin Dazet: Spider is going through some changes in Beyond Light. Though a notoriously savvy black-market dealer, our favorite four-armed friend has been largely the same for quite some time now. But the impending journey to Europa has finally given him a reason to tune up the materials exchange and make two key changes.

First, Spider will no longer be selling Legendary Shards. This exchange was removed mainly because it was not seeing enough use, particularly when compared with the other exchange offers. After reviewing player balances and the frequency with which this exchange was accessed, it was an easy decision to free up the space for something much more interesting.

In place of the Legendary Shard exchange, Spider is now selling Enhancement Prisms. These highly valued items come at a cost – 400 Legendary Shards per Prism – and he's stingy with them so you can only purchase three a week. But we wanted to give those of you with higher balances a way to transmute your Legendary Shards into something a little more valuable than planetary materials and Upgrade Modules.

Second, we've taken another look at how the Enhancement Core exchange works and made some changes. The ascending cost mechanism has been removed, and in its place, Spider will now sell you five Enhancement Cores a day for fixed price of 30 Legendary Shards each. While this does limit the number of Cores you can acquire from him each day, we feel a consistent price is a clearer experience with less chance to accidentally spend large quantities of Legendary Shards.

More importantly it's also cheaper. In the old purchase model, you'd pay 310 Legendary Shards for five Enhancement Cores (10, 20, 40, 80, and then 160). In the new model you'll only pay 30 Shards each, which equals out to 150 Legendary Shards for five Enhancement Cores. So, while it does limit your acquisition rate, it actually will save you 160 Legendary Shards every five Cores!

    Got to Go Fast

Finally, we've seen a few people wondering if you'll be able to equip the Ghost mod Speed Demon with other mods like Guiding Light in the new system, and we have some good news for you: You won't need to. Starting in Beyond Light all Sparrows, both Legendary and Exotic, will innately summon instantly, even without the Transmat Preloader perk. As a result, there is no need for a Ghost mod to impact this functionality, so Speed Demon was not carried forward into the new system.

If you're already driving around a Sparrow with Transmat Preloader, you can keep using it and it will work just fine. Or you can pull it from Collections again and get two new perks. Newly created Sparrows will no longer roll on Transmat Preloader, so you have a chance to get yourself an extra perk and still retain that instant summon speed.

Hop on that newly instant-summoning Sparrow and zip on over to check out Spider's new offers. He's ready and waiting to wrap those four greedy arms around some of your wealth and make you a deal you can't refuse.

    Eververse

Starting in Season of the Hunt, Bright Engrams will now contain all Eververse content from Season 1 to three Seasons prior to the current Season (excluding content from special events like Festival of the Lost, the Dawning, etc.). Here are some practical examples:

    • Season 12: Bright Engrams contain all content from Seasons 1 through 9.
    • Season 13: Bright Engrams contain all content from Seasons 1 through 10.

As always, as you open more Bright Engrams, your chances for earning things you don't own increases. There will be instances of duplicate drops, but the Engram will be weighted to grant you things you might be hunting.

It's time now to check in with our Player Support team for the latest on known issues and important information on the state of the game.

    This is their report.

    WORLD ACTIVITIES

When Beyond Light and Update 3.0.0 release on November 10, 2020, some world activities will be removed. These removals are not related to the Destiny Content Vault but are general game updates.

Players should complete any activities and quests they have left if they want to claim rewards from them.

    • Flashpoints (Weekly Engrams should be claimed before November 10 or they will be removed).
    • All Destination Adventures.
    • World Quests from Year-1 locations, such as Enemy of my Enemy, Exodus Black, and Data Recovery.

    INVENTORY ITEM REMOVAL

With the start of Year 4 and the introduction of the Destiny Content Vault on November 10, certain items will be deprecated from player inventories that correspond with Vaulted destinations, activities, and campaigns.

Click here to review a list of items, quests, and currencies that will be removed from player inventories at the start of Year 4. Some items listed can be used or turned in for rewards, such as Glimmer, weapons, and armor, so be sure to do that before November 10.

    14-HOUR DOWNTIME

On November 9, Destiny 2 will be taken offline for maintenance.

Maintenance will begin at 7 PM PST (0300 UTC), ending on November 10 at 9 AM (1700 UTC) with the launch of Destiny 2: Beyond Light and Update 3.0.0.

Stay tuned to Help.Bungie.net and @BungieHelp on Twitter for updates.

    PlayStation 4 COLLECTOR'S EDITION CODES

Earlier this week, we informed PlayStation 4 players who purchased the Destiny 2: Beyond Light Collector's Edition that they may have received an email about a possible account lockout if they used their Collector's Edition codes. The issue resulting in account lockouts for early code redemption has now been resolved, and players can now safely redeem their codes prior to November 10.

    TITLES AND SEALS

With Moments of Triumph and Season of Arrivals coming to a close, players are strongly encouraged to claim and equip the titles located in their Seals so that they will correctly count as claimed.

    KNOWN ISSUES

While we continue investigating various known issues, here is a list of the latest issues that were reported to us in our #Help Forum:

    • The Warlock's top tree on the Dawnblade subclass can trigger the Icarus Dash cooldown when playing on PC.
    • Players can't dismount from their Sparrow using the dismount button on a controller if their Ghost is out.
    • Some players report that they're receiving the Baboon error more frequently.

For a full list of emergent issues in Destiny 2, players can review our Known Issues article.

Players who observe other issues should report them to our #Help forum.

Physical copies are not required to get that look in the future! All you need is the armour in collections.

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 12:30 PM PDT

Just got confirmed by Luke on the stream that transmog will NOT require physical copies of armour, the game will recognise what armour you have acquired before (collections) and you will be able to acquire the armour visuals that way, whatever that may entail.

Bright Dust changes coming in Beyond Light

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 01:48 PM PDT

According to the TWAB from October 29/2020:

Weekly Bright Dust bounties will now give 100 BD instead of the old 200.

10,500 Bright Dust will be given via the season pass as opposed to the old 2700.

    -Some important maths:

If every season is estimated at around 13 weeks (91 days)

    In Shadowkeep

    • 13 weeks x (2 bounties x 3 vendors x 200 bright dust x 3 characters ) = 13 x 3600 = 46,800 BD from the bounties
    • +2700 BD from the season pass
    • = 49,500 Bright Dust earned by someone doing all bounties every week in a season.

    From Beyond Light

    • 13 weeks x (2 bounties x 3 vendors x 100 bright dust x 3 characters) = 13 x 1800 = 23,400 BD from the bounties
    • + 10,500 BD from the season pass
    • = 33,900 Bright Dust earned by someone doing all bounties every week in a season.

That's a cool 15,600 Bright dust per season that's essentially unobtainable, as opposed to earlier.....Great for people with less time to play, but for the people who play regularly with 3 characters, that's over a 31% loss per season.

This isn't even counting the seasonal festivals we get (Crimson Days/Revelry/FOTL/Dawning that last 3-ish weeks. They'll also have their gains cut, naturally from approx 3600 per event to 1800 per event, making the difference from 53,100 to 35,700. That's 17,400 total loss per season.

(You have a net change of ZERO - you break even - if you do all bounties on just 1 character from now v/s BL, a 7,800 loss if you play 2, and 15,600 if you play 3 characters.)

This is NOT beneficial to solo players, only detrimental to 2 and 3 character grinders.

Don't get me wrong. The increase in Dust from Season pass is GREAT. It's a very welcome change. But the change to weekly bounties is unnecessarily punishing to the three-character-every-week-grinders, and is definitely going to push away the hardcore players.

Just thought this might be worth talking about since it kinda feels like we got monkey-pawed again, like back at the beginning of Shadowkeep when they removed BD gains from dismantling items or the removal of the Prismatic Matrix. Holding out on the 'potential updates in season 13', but I don't know if I'd be too optimistic.

( edit, since I keep seeing people say this. No, the hardcore community isn't playing solely for Bright dust. I just love getting on every week with my mates, and loading into Crucible or Gambit together. The bright dust acts as incentive to keep doing that. It's a nice reward. Taking away a previously given reward that you're used to....doesn't sit well, and can often create negativity and resentment, leading to people saying 'fuck this, the devs don't care about our time' and.... walk away from Destiny. Which is unhealthy for the game, long term. I just enjoy playing this game, and would rather have a decent community, since Destiny, more so than most games owes a lot to it's community players and developers.)

Bright Dust changes is another move against the player

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 01:47 PM PDT

Think about it. We're gain more bright dust with the Season pass ( that's good) but it's " fixed " rewards, when you are at level 100 you can't get extra bright dust from the pass. ( except from bright engram who has an very low drop rate of bright dust) And the week bounties are going to give us only 100 instead of 200 ? This is NOT an improvement. Adding more bright dust to the Season pass which is a fixed reward and reduce bright from bounties which is a repeatable rewards over weeks does the exact opposition of what you said in the TWAB Bungie. It will reduce the bright dust for everyone, pushing us to use real money at Eververse. This is wrong. Plus the prices are still too high ( hello legendary ghost Projection, multiplayer exotic emote and finishers ) and with this change we're gonna be able to buy less than before. This is not player-friendly Bungie. Yes, i'm mad about this change and i'm really hope everyone will see the problem with this change.

Destiny 2 Beyond Light - Launch Trailer

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 05:58 AM PDT

Bungie, the way you describe these economy changes seems deceptive (includes SGA on what to do with vaulted mats, upcoming changes)

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 04:46 PM PDT

TL/DR: It's fine to change up the economy, and some spin is to be expected. But today we got misleading insight into how best to spend our vaulted mats, whether cores are really going to be cheaper for most players, a new purchase channel that's more expensive and restrictive than one we've already got, and a freemium currency change that throttles players' buying power. That's some bullshit.

    Rest of post:

There are some significant changes coming to the economy in Season of the Hunt (Season 12) outlined in today's TWAB. Of course it's Bungie's purview to explain optimistically how well things will work, and changes to economic balance are a fact of life in games like Destiny. But the way in which these are described almost seems to be purposefully designed to obscure the very important consequences of these changes.

    Planetary Materials

Everyone has been curious what will happen to mats from the four destinations going into the DCV in two weeks (Mars, Io, Mercury, Titan). Bungie says in the TWAB:

The simple answer is that there are no changes to these currencies in Season of the Hunt, and you will be able to continue to spend them at vendors normally.

Starting in Season 13, Phaseglass Needles, Alkane Dust, Simulation Seeds, and Seraphite will be no longer accepted by vendors. For those of you that still have unspent stockpiles at the end of Season of the Hunt, Spider will be kind enough to offer a small Glimmer exchange to take them off your hands. But you'll realize the best value by spending them before that point, so make sure you turn in your stockpiles before the end of next Season.

This means we'll still have these mats in our inventory during next season, but they'll become useless at the start of the season after, in a few months' time.

However, the important part is where Bungie says "you will be able to continue to spend them at vendors normally." Unless I'm mistaken, the planetary vendors themselves won't be available to receive these mats next season as they're being vaulted, so "normally" isn't really fair. We won't be able to convert them to shards in an easy way through those vendors.

Instead, the only two vendors who'll accept those mats would be Banshee (for Upgrade Modules and Prisms / Shards) and Spider (for glimmer / legendary shards). However, you later say in next season Spider won't be selling legendary shards at all:

First, Spider will no longer be selling Legendary Shards. This exchange was removed mainly because it was not seeing enough use, particularly when compared with the other exchange offers.

This means starting next season, vaulted planetary mats can only be sold for glimmer at Spider, or used to help purchase items from Banshee that have strict inventory caps (25 Upgrade Modules, 50 Ascendant Prisms, 10 Ascendant Shards).

Players could wait it out for Banshee to rotate selling items for vaulted mats, but for those with thousands of mats they probably won't be able to cycle through them all in a single season anyway. Which is why I'd recommend the following to players:

UPDATED SGA: Consider dumping your planetary mats at vendors now before next season, especially Simulation Seeds on Mercury, since you have a better chance at getting masterworked gear that can give cores when sharded.

SGA: Alternatively. you could dump your vaulted planetary mats at Spider for legendary shards BEFORE BEYOND LIGHT arrives! You'll get 1 legendary shard for every 10 mats. I've got over 25k vaulted mats, which means I'll get over 2,500 legendary shards by dumping them before the new season. Not a great trade but I'll take that over some glimmer and stalking Banshee for days when vaulted mats are in rotation.

    Enhancement Cores

You mentioned Spider will start selling Enhancement Cores for a flat rate in Beyond Light:

This sounds like a used car salesman trying to spin the price of a car. Nobody is currently regularly spending 310 legendary shards a day to get 5 enhancement cores, that's insanity. People acquire them mostly from the Banshee bounties, which was a good change. Also, people PACE themselves, buying 1-3 cores a day to only pay the cheapest rates.

In reality, the new system is only cheaper than the old system IF you buy more than 3 cores a day:

Daily Core Purchased Current Cost Current Cumulative Cost Beyond Light Cost Beyond Light Cumulative Cost
    1 10 10 30 30
    2 20 30 30 60
    3 40 70 30 90
    4 80 150 30 120
    5 160 310 30 150

This means for all the players who run to Spider for a core or two (to be honest I have two stacks of them so this isn't me or maybe most long term players) to get what they need for an infusion or improved energy level, they'll need to buy in bulk instead, raising the barrier to entry for newer players or those with less time and fewer resources.

    Enhancement Prisms

Also, Spider will sell Enhancement Prisms for... 400 legendary shards!?

In place of the Legendary Shard exchange, Spider is now selling Enhancement Prisms. These highly valued items come at a cost – 400 Legendary Shards per Prism – and he's stingy with them so you can only purchase three a week.

This is less deceptive, and more just dumb. Banshee currently sells prisms for 10 enhancement cores, 25 planetary mats, and 10k glimmer. You just told us Spider will sell cores for 30 legendary shards, and he'll sell 5 mats for 1 shard, and 10k glimmer for 5 shards, so Banshee's prices = 310 legendary shards total. So:

SGA: Never buy Enhancement Prisms from Spider, Banshee's will always be cheaper AND he won't have a weekly cap!

    Bright Dust

Oh boy, this is the worst deal for players:

Here is the high-level look at the changes coming next Season.

    - Season Pass free path will now offer 7,500 Bright Dust

    - Season Pass owned path will now offer 3,000 Bright Dust

    - Weekly Bounties will now award 100 Bright Dust

With these changes, the vast majority of players will be earning more Bright Dust than before. One of our goals here is to not have a system that pushes you to try to grind out every weekly bounty on all three characters every single week. Whether you are a three-character player or only play a Hunter, Bright Dust will be more available when earning ranks on the Season Pass.

OK, so yes it is likely true that the vast majority of players will earn more BD than before, and more easily too, because a nice chunk will almost be gained automatically from the season pass (depending on which levels it's dropped into). However, it lowers the maximum amount of BD earnable overall, lowering all players' buying power at the Eververse store, and encouraging more silver purchases as a result.

Assuming we have a 13-week season, a player maximizing their BD gains today would earn the following:

    • (200 BD per weekly bounty) x (2 weekly bounties per vendor) x (3 vendors - Zavala, Shaxx, Drifter) x (3 characters) x (13 weeks) = 46,800 BD
    • Plus 4 weeks of a seasonal event where Eva has 2 more weekly bounties for each character, so another 4,800 BD, equals...
    • 51,600 BD max in an average season.

In Beyond Light, this math changes, AND it will draw differences between free-to-play and pay-to-play players:

    • Core bounty farming value is halved from 200 BD to 100 BD per bounty, so we drop from 46,800 to 23,400
    • Same for Eva's bounties, 4,800 to 2,400
    • Paid players get 10,500 BD for a total of 36,300
    • Free players get only 7,500 BD, for a total of 33,300
Bright Dust % of Current Max Earnable
Current Max BD / Season (Paid & Free) 51,600 100.0%
Beyond Light Max BD / Season - Paid 36,300 70.3%
Beyond Light Max BD / Season - Free 33,300 64.5%

Free players putting in time to earn cosmetics will only be able to earn 2/3rds as much as they do now. That's a dramatic buying power drop, and probably not a reasonable price to pay for more consistent earnings. Even hardcore paid players will only get 70% of what they do now.

The thing is, moving some earnable bright dust to the season reward track is a great idea! But it's purposefully built to reduce players' buying power, which is why this comes across as deceptive.

    There's an easy two-part solution:

    • First, move ALL of the 10,500 BD on the reward track to the free tier, so there's no difference there between paid and free players. There has been no difference between those player groups in their ability to earn BD up to this point, your changes just introduce those differences for the first time now, so there shouldn't be a reasonable argument in favor of keeping some misunderstood "bonus" that paid players got because that didn't happen.
    • Then, make weekly bounties give you 160 BD instead of 100 or 200. If you take our previous max earnings (51,600) and subtract the amount on the season track (10,500) you get 41,100. The max number of weekly bounties doable across all three characters in a season, plus those from Eva's event, is 258. 41,100 / 258 = 159.3, so round it to 160 and call it a day. That way player buying power isn't sabotaged.

    . . . .

In conclusion, it's fine to change up the economy, and some spin is to be expected. But today we got misleading insight into how best to spend our vaulted mats, whether cores are really going to be cheaper for most players, a new purchase channel that's more expensive and restrictive than one we've already got, and a freemium currency change that throttles player's buying power. That's some bullshit.

Luke Smith on the size of BL via Twitch Stream

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 12:26 PM PDT

He stated that it is definitely bigger than Shadowkeep but it's difficult for the team to create Forsaken sized expansions now due to budget & time constraints etc. It also seems like they are putting more emphasis and effort into their "seasons" (of arrivals shows us anything) than they have before ie story missions, activities etc which is a plus.

So while the big expansions might not be Forsaken big, it seems like for once in Destiny's life we are going to be getting consistent content drops via seasons and bookends every year with the bigger expansions.

I personally think that this is great for the franchise. Setting expectations and delivering more consistently. Thoughts?

400 Legendary Shards per Enhancement Prisms......This is a typo right?

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 01:52 PM PDT

and a max of 3 a week? You really think people will be dropping 1,200 legendary shards on Enhancement Prisms a week, let alone 400 on one? So, with that math in mind, I can run 3 Pit of Heresys, get the master worked armor reward from the boss, dismantle them for 6 prisms each for a total of 18. THATS 7,200 LEGENDARY SHARDS I saved just for running the dungeon on all 3 characters that week.

Not even forgetting to mention the amount of these bad boys you can get from running the lesser nightfalls, buying from banshee and getting from seasonal activities......

I'm really hopping someone just had a heavy finger and held down that 0 one millisecond too long. 40 is a lot more reasonable asking price. You think the legendary shard one from spider was useless, wait till you see the dust that collect on this bad boy.

Let's appreciate what a badass Eris is

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 07:33 AM PDT

Eris no longer has a ghost. We know the drifter is a light bearer and can be revived. I assume the stranger has a mechanism to being powerful or more invincible or even rez'd because she's an exo, but when Eris dies, she's dead. She's on the front line, though, fighting with them to be the pioneers on Europa.

It's everybody's faviourite Exotic and Legendary weapon tester, Calus! (Man, his head was super hard to get down o.o)

This was probably everybody's introduction to raids (Before Scourge of the Past came out haha) and I am sad to let him go 😔

Thank god he left a gift for us, the "Adored" Sniper Rifle (In Beyond Light that is haha)

Anyways! If you would like to see more Destiny characters (and else) check out my Twitter! Thanks!

Don't Infuse Your Items (New Power Floor 1050)

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 02:23 PM PDT

As confirmed in today's TWAB: "When you first log in next Season, all of your weapons and armor will be at 1050 Power or higher. If you have anything already over 1050 it will be unchanged, and anything under will be brought up to 1050. All new players will start at 1050 as well."

Don't bother to spend your Upgrade Modules on infusion for items that can go above 1060, because you'll soon be able to raise them higher. Don't spend Modules on items that are below 1050 because they'll automatically be 1050 in less than 2 weeks. If you're desperate to infuse a sunset item to its cap of 1060 instead of settling for a free 1050, go for it. If it costs you only glimmer, all the better.

EDIT: I'm sure there are some of you already that have tons of Upgrade Modules or the materials to buy tons more, but there are some folks in this game, especially new players from this season, who don't have all the luxury & stacks of mats older players have. Just trying to save some folks (for whom these are still precious resources) some unnecessary spending.

Make sure you are doing weeklys this week and the following week

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 01:16 PM PDT

Just read the TWAB and Bungie is reducing Weekly Bounty bright dust rewards and moving most of it to a season pass... Only 10,000 of it approximately. Weeklys will only give 100 Essentially crippling free things from the Eververse store

There's currently 8,400 to be earned pretty easily throughout the next two weeks, Good luck all!

How much bright dust you can earn in year 4 vs year 3

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 03:03 PM PDT

On this week's TWAB Bungie detailed these changes to the bright dust economy.

Season Pass free path will now offer 7,500 Bright Dust

Season Pass owned path will now offer 3,000 Bright Dust

Weekly Bounties will now award 100 Bright Dust

I decided to do the math for comparing the potential bright dust you can earn in year 4 to what you could earn in year 3.

    Season of the Undying - 10 weeks (Oct 1 - Dec 9)

    Season of the Dawn - 13 weeks (Dec 10 - Mar 9)

    Season of the Worthy - 13 weeks (Mar 10 - Jun 8)

Season of Arrivals - 15 weeks (Jun 9 - Sept 22, we shouldn't expect delays in the future)

Average length of a season is 12.75 weeks. I'll round it to 13 for this. I will also not be considering weekly bounties from events (FotL, Dawning etc.)

    Current model: 1200 * 13 =

15 600 Bright dust from bounties for one character in a season

31 200 Bright dust from bounties for two characters in a season

46 800 Bright dust from bounties for three characters in a season

Future model: 7 500 for the free season pass =

7 500 Bright dust for one character without buying the season pass

7 500 Bright dust for two characters without buying the season pass

7 500 Bright dust for three characters without buying the season pass

    Plus 600 * 13 =

15 300 Bright dust while doing bounties without buying the season pass for one character

23 100 Bright dust while doing bounties without buying the season pass for two characters

30 900 Bright dust while doing bounties without buying the season pass for three characters

Plus 3 000 for paid season pass =

18 300 Bright dust for one character while doing bounties after buying the season pass

26 100 Bright dust for two characters while doing bounties after buying the season pass

33 900 Bright dust for three characters while doing bounties after buying the season pass

If you complete your season pass and do all your weekly bounties every week:

    • If you only have one character you will be earning more bright dust than year 3 if you buy the season pass (18 300 vs 15 600). If you don't buy the season pass you will earn 300 less bright dust than you did in year 3.

    • If you have two characters you will be earning at least 5 100 less bright dust per season (26 100 vs 31 200).

    • If you have three characters you will be earning at least 12 900 less bright dust per season (46 800 vs 33 900).

    Edit: EarlDopler's clarification.

I just wanna give Bungie's music department a shout out on the off chance they read this sub.

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 09:36 AM PDT

Whoever you are, you're all geniuses. Destiny's music has always been top notch, but the music you put in trailers is amazing. Today's launch trailer music was definitely 'Paint it Black' or at least extremely inspired by it, but it was executed so well that it gave me and my friends that have seen the trailer, all goosebumps.

So thank you, and please continue to be amazing.

How to efficiently convert your expiring planetary materials to legendary shards.

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 05:37 PM PDT

    1. Wait for spider to be selling glimmer in exchange for the material you wish to dump.

    2. Buy as much glimmer as you can.

    3. Go to collections -> Flair -> Transmat effects -> Season 1 OR Season 2 and pick your favorite blue transmat. They cost 1000 glimmer. Craft them until you spend all your glimmer.

    4. Repeat steps 1-3 until you have dumped as much as you want.

    5. Go to Amanda Holliday in the hangar of the Tower. Her second page will now have the option to "reconfigure flair" at the cost of 3 of a kind blue transmat effects in your modifications inventory. Using this will convert all your blue transmat effects into purple transmat effects at a rate of 3:1.

    6. Dismantle all the purple transmat effects you now have.

    7. Remember fractaline and regret everything.

This method will give 1 legendary shard and 150 glimmer from each purple transmat effect, meaning that each shard costs 2850 glimmer and each material exchanged is worth slightly over 1/6th of a shard, significantly higher than any other exchange rate I know of in the game. Spider's exchange rate is 1/10 (or even worse if purchased indirectly through glimmer).

Eramis' ice collar is basically what I have wanted for years

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 11:07 AM PDT

I saw this post a couple years ago, and as a Warlock main, I salivated at the idea of having a mantle like this. Bonds are just OK; some lately have been slightly better than just OK (I'm looking at you Vex bond and 2nd place Guardian games bond).

I only just realized something today, after getting hype for the umpteenth time about Beyond light Eramis is getting mine, the artists and I am sure many other Guardians wish.

Bungie, for the love of Darkness, please let me claim the Icy collar from Eramis!!

Vortex Grenades & Super Should Pull Enemies Inward Toward The Center

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 03:57 PM PDT

If they pulled things inward on hit instead of pushing them out, they'd live up to their name and be more functional.

There's already that arc hunter melee that stuns you which is worse than being slowed by a grenade.

There's smokes that slows, stops sprinting, and jump ability, which this grenade wouldn't do all of that.

The Eververse loot pool is going to be massive next season from seasons 1 to 9. How about a "weighted Bright engrams" system?

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 05:00 PM PDT

Bungie, there is a huge amount of stuff to pull from the eververse lootpool next season, you should add a way to make the engram "weighted" for things like sparrow affinity, ghost affinity, ornament affinity, emote affinity and so on.

A way it could work is like the umbral engrams.

Take a preexisting Bright engram, burn 200 bright dust, then get a "weighted sparrow Bright engram". Or burn 600 bright dust for a "weighted ornament Bright engram".

These weighted engrams increase the chances of getting the type of loot you would like to drop.
