For those that didn't play destiny 1, this was a staple when running new players thru the taken king:

Wendigo was probably an experimental version of the charged with light mods

    Posted: 12 Oct 2020 10:25 AM PDT

It makes since, wendigo became a thing roughly around the time that these mods would have been in development and they use similar mechanics; pick up an orb, gain bonus damage, lose that bonus when you kill or shoot. If this is true, imagine what other weapons or perks are proto versions of something new in the works.

    1778 triumphs

    16 titles (including forerunner)

And nearly 2 years after the triumph system launched

But I hit it, 100,000 triumph score. I had started this season at 70k and decided to go for it once Bungie announced the delay of beyond light. 2-3 months later and my goal had been finally reached.

Future Seventh Seraph/Ikelos Weapons are needed

    Posted: 12 Oct 2020 06:12 PM PDT

I was on a D2 break during season of worthy, so unfortunately i missed out on the slew of seventh seraph weapons. Obviously I now have the SMG's, shotty's, and sniper in God roll fashion from this season, but damn, not a kenetic in sight!

Given the most recent TWAB about Mods, Warmind cells are going to be a thing for the next 12 months, I REALLY hope they bring back some more weapons that can make them for us to farm out!

That is all. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

    Why Warlock Mains Are Upset

    Posted: 12 Oct 2020 05:49 AM PDT

This was originally a comment made in another thread, which I was encouraged to turn into a post.

As a Warlock main there seems to be a mismatch between multiple characters players who do not main Warlock and actual Warlock mains who have this gripe and where is comes from.

Many Warlock exotics are only good in low end PVE, and not generally considered strong outside of them. So these are generally speaking just fun. When I say end game viable I mean: in the most difficult activities, are these seen? Below is a breakdown from my perspective and what I commonly see among other players opinions.

What I am trying to show here is two things: one, there are so many similar vein exotics for Warlock, and it's just become tiresome to get a new melee or super based exotic for Warlock; and two, there are lot of exotics that are great on patrol, and the previewed ones are already questionable as having any use for end game and competitive modes. I see a lot of hopeful conversation, but we have little evidence either of the new Warlock exotics will be any good mainly because Bungie has a history since D1 of being wary of allowing dots or burns to be strong.

    • Exotics that affect Super (end game viable?)
      • Skull of Dire Ahamkara
      • Crown of Tempests (PVP swap, useless on console)
      • Apotheosis Veil
      • Phoenix Protocol (PVE)
      • Stormdancer's Brace
      • Geomag Stabilizers (Gambit, I guess? There are better options)
      • Promethium Spur

    • Exotics that grant ability energy / grenade
      • Crown of Tempests
      • Nezerac's Sin
      • Eye of Another World
      • Verity's Brow
      • Sunbracers
      • Aeon Soul
      • Contraverse Hold (PVP, but Nova Warp is weak)
      • Getaway Artist (sort of reduces the viability of bottom tree stormcaller because you don't need it, and arc soul by itself is weak, not very useful in PVE or PVP end game)
      • Starfire Protocol (niche PVP)

    • Exotics that affect melee
      • Felwinter's Helm (PVE)
      • Karnstein Armlets (PVP)
      • Claws of Ahamkara
      • Winter's Guile

    • Exotics that affect weapons
      • Ophidian Aspect (PVP)
      • Transversive Steps (PVP)
      • Lunafaction Boots (PVE)

    • Exotics that affect class ability
      • The Stag (low key PVP)
      • Sanguine Alchemy
      • Vesper of Radius

    • Exotics with Unique Effects
      • Astrocyte Verse (Blink is generally still weak in PVP)
      • Wings of Sacred Dawn (The changes made to this exotic didn't move it up)
      • Chromatic Fire

Overall, Warlock exotics for use in PVP end game amount to the same two-three since season 2, and 3 for PVE, with only one newer contender in Felwinter, which I would argue is still undervalued. But that's a little light, don't you think?

Without knowing what the new exotics will really do, as a Warlock main, and Bungie's fear of strong dots and burns since Destiny 1, I'm not betting on either of the new exotics being viable for end game in either PVE or PVP. They nerfed Thorn in D1, they nerfed Viking Funeral in D1, they didn't include Viking Funeral in D2, and they do not allow multiple dot grenades or other types of effects to stack. Throw 2 solar grenades, it burns as if it's one, same with Vortex grenades. Only pulse grenades can stack because they aren't a dot, but note that Warlocks do not have the option to have two pulse grenades.

So, overall, I am extremely reluctant to get hyped over two exotics that claim a strong dot or burn effect will work well for anything outside of low end PVE content. I'm looking at the new exotics, and it seems like I will still be using the same things and at the same time contending with new exotics on other classes that will present challenges. The new Warlock exotics will not present moment to moment gameplay challenges in crucible, flat out.

Edit: A lot of people are arguing with my assessment of whether or not some these exotics are end game meta. That's not the point of my post. My primary purpose is to address why Warlocks are upset about the newly shown exotics are lackluster. We are not out of options. We just keep getting more of the same rather than unique options, and not much in the way of PVP.

    Exotic Armor Ornaments

Does nobody ever chat anymore, or am I just going crazy?

    Posted: 12 Oct 2020 05:55 PM PDT

It feels like absolutely nobody has the option to PM them set to on. Nobody's ever in local chat. Nobody's ever in team chat. Everybody's silent as a mouse. A multiplayer game isn't as fun when literally NOBODY is talking anymore! I just don't get it.

Ghaul's actions from Vanilla D2 can still be felt going into Beyond Light

    Posted: 12 Oct 2020 01:02 PM PDT

Ghaul's actions unlike the vanilla D1 campaign with us killing a black goop ball magically healing the Traveler still doing shits all actually can still be felt as of present. The weakening of humanity's leadership role with the murder of the Speaker, the sole guiding voice to the tower has lead down an on going spiral of distrust in our tower leadership. If we still had a guiding voice perhaps Guardians wouldn't need to turn to the powers of the Darkness. Caiatl his successor in the red legion and daughter to Calus, is still out there an onlooming threat. The faith in the light diminished as all it took was literally covering the giant ball in the equivalent of wrapping paper to make hundreds of thousands of guardians across the system powerless. As Eramis says, "light fades away, darkness is forever." And finally he is the literal catalyst for every event from season of the worthy onward with the pyramids returning, as he gained the power of the light which the traveler finally had to intervene. No matter what you say about vanilla campaign, it's aftermath leaves our story into a darker path, which I guess the most we got outta vanilla D1 was the Stranger and Garden of Salvation but that whole heal the traveler by shooting magic black goop felt kinda like a let down compared to Ghaul

Displaying non-kinetic weapon in character screen

    Posted: 12 Oct 2020 06:44 PM PDT

So I have seen a couple of posts already that are asking for the option to equip energy or heavy weapons when viewing their character. Somehow at the end of either Thorn or Lumina quest (I forget which) the kinetic weapon is unequipped (Rose I believe) and before it is replaced with the exotic, you can press start to view your character with energy weapon equipped (see images with Inaugural Address and Graviton Lance equipped). Just thought it was interesting that this is in the game already but disabled.

Bungie: We’re Trying to Get Destiny 2 to Feel Like Destiny 1, But Updated to the Systems We Have Now

    Posted: 12 Oct 2020 11:14 AM PDT

    Hi there fellow Guardians,

I've found this article earlier today, there are quotes from the EDGE article. I thought this part from Luke was worth sharing.

What we're trying to do with Stasis and wielding the Darkness is to show you as a player more freedom. There's also a meta statement tha we're making about the difference in the powers between light and dark, but there's this other part, which is the fantasy of, 'This is my Guardian, there are many like it, but this one is mine'.

I think we're trying to get a little bit back to the feeling of Destiny 1, but updated to how we're thinking and some of the systems that we're using today in Destiny 2.

I'll use a MOBA as an example. They get to have a lot of tuning vectors for their four abilities. The modularity and the piecemeal nature of Statis allows us more flexibility to do more to introduce....There's cool stuff. I know that Kevin Yanes and the abilities team have a pretty strong desire to keep iterating on it. We're just getting started.

There's some more stuff at the link about balancing content for different tastes.
