    Trials of Osiris is LIVE

This thread is for all general discussion, questions, thoughts, musings, wonderings, etc. for the Trials of Osiris.

    FAQ

    What is Trials of Osiris?

    • Trials of Osiris is the pinnacle PvP activity. Every Weekend, the best players compete in 3v3 Elimination for one goal: Go Flawless.

    • To start, head to Saint-14 in the Tower Hangar and buy one of the possible passages (see below).

    • To reach Flawless and get to the Lighthouse, you need to win 7 matches without losing one.

    • It uses Win Based Matchmaking, which means you'll face teams with a similar amount of wins on their card. Matches will get harder as you win more matches.

    • There is NO fireteam matchmaking. You need to team up yourself!

    • Power Level matters, however bonus power from the artifact is not enabled.

How Long do the Trials of Osiris last?

    • Event Starts: Every Friday at Daily Reset (1700 UTC).

    • Event Ends: Following Tuesday at Weekly Reset (1700 UTC).

Where do I go to find Guardians to compete with in the Trials?

    • You can head over to /r/Fireteams, www.The100.io, Xbox LFG system, DestinyLFG.net or DestinyLFG.com, or go to the Bungie.net recruitment forum (also available through the Bungie App).

What if I have a question about another piece of armor/weapon or general Trials question?

    • Use Control + F (Or Command + F if on a Mac) and search for keywords in your question. Someone may have asked it already. If they haven't ask right below.

12 man raids are a thing now!

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 04:36 PM PST

    Video instructions

    The gist of it is:

    • Create two teams of 6, Team 1 and Team 2,
    • Have the host of Team 1 launch whatever raid you're trying, keeping an eye on the launch timer
    • Have the host of Team 2 attempt joining Team 1 when the timer on the host of Team 1's screen hits 0:02
    • If done successfully yields a 12-man lobby.

The process in and of itself is pretty simple but the timing has to be super precise to pull it off. Can take minutes to hours to set this up properly.

Guys the State of the Game blog was amazing but I just wanted to point out that gambit wasn't mentioned

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 05:47 AM PST

It really was a great blog post but just thought it was weird not having gambit be mentioned. Drifter himself is a very important character and will have a huge role in the Witch Queen no doubt but his playlist is sort of irrelevant right now :( At least the new rewards each season are nice. Edit: I actually really enjoy gambit and do think it has potential, simply saying 'lmao gambit' isn't going to help, let's talk about it

Bungie the fact that my Flawless reward can be a 56 stat roll armor piece is insanely disheartening.

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 06:33 PM PST

I love Trials, I do. I play it almost every weekend. I've slowly pulled myself up from a hard carry to a very strong contributor who's managed to go Flawless just over a dozen times.

Every single game 7 is a rush and the experience itself is easily worth it imo. That said going to the lighthouse and being rewarded with... this, is just, like, what the fuck man. I get better armor from basically every single prime engram. Flawless armor should really be held to a higher standard Bungie.

Solo Players Being Able to Participate in Trials in the Future is Awesome!

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 05:51 AM PST

When I got to the part of the State of the Game article that mentioned solo players being able to take part in Trials, I was overjoyed. I will gladly play trials if I do not need a pre-made team, because I already lose all my control matches anyway, so why not lose in the cooler mode! I personally find 3v3 a lot less chaotic and more enjoyable, so this looks really promising. I know there's many other things to probably be more excited about, but I was always bummed out that I couldn't do trials since Destiny 1, so when this came out I was very surprised. I know I should temper my expectations (And probably only be able to complete the weekly bounty) but I genuinely did not think this would ever happen to begin with.

    Thanks Bungie

Can we take a moment to appreciate Tex Mechanica

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 09:08 AM PST

In the world of Destiny, there are hundreds upon hundreds of guns, made with everything from Golden Age tech to literal space magic. I mean the entirety of DSC's loot pool is state of the art Braytech weaponry. Black Armory was nothing but the best weapons that could be made by humanity. Weapons like Thorn, Lumina, and Touch of Malice are literally infused with magic. But you know what guns compete with them? Tex fuckin' Mechanica.

Imagine that, in a world with insane tech and magic, Tex Mechanica just makes regular old guns, in a classic Western style, and they're some of the most powerful and sought out guns. But even though they're so sought out by Guardians, they're still useable by regular Humans as well (lookin' at you Chaperone).

Even when compared to the other foundries, Tex Mechanica stands out.

    • Häkke: makes strong utilitarian guns, in a standard military style

    • Veist: Energy Weapons utilizing what seems to be lightweight high tech materials

    • Omolon: State of the art liquid ammo, etc etc

    • Suros: The Apple of gun crafting

And here's Tex Mechanica, combining style, power, and utility, without relying on crazy technology.

I seriously love the aesthetics and feel of Tex Mechanica weapons, and kudos to Bungie for knocking them out of the park. I haven't unequipped DMT since snagging the catalyst

Change Trials of Osiris into the procedural legal drama it deserves to be

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 03:15 AM PST

Since Trials has so many problems and there are so few viable solutions, just get rid of Trials pvp and turn it into a procedural legal drama. I mean, its literally called Trials of Osiris. Osiris is a grizzled legal veteran of the Last City District Attorney's Office and he's training up his new rookie legal assistant Crow to eventually become a junior prosecutor. He's become jaded by years of putting away scumbags that just get out on the streets and commit crimes again a few years later. Crow is an idealistic but naive legal prospect that believes he can make positive change for the people of the Last City by becoming a prosecutor for the DA's Office, but Osiris thinks he's got his head in the clouds and tries to knock him out of it. Crow tries to soften Osiris's heart of stone but finds its tougher to break through to him than a match game shield with the wrong energy type.

Come on you cowards, you know its the right thing to do

The old trials armor should be added as a random drop inside the playlist.

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 11:38 AM PST

With transmog coming armor is going to basically become esthetic only and it would be a nice addition if the old trials armor was treated like the trials cosmetics are currently.

(As far as I know you can no longer get it)

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 05:09 PM PST

RNG was very kind today, got all 3 new exotic chest pieces in 7 runs. Le Monarque w/overload bow shreds the whole sector, couple of kinetic scout shots to break the barrier champ shield, void rocket for fast boss erasure. Go get yours!

New Light Beginner's Quest Should Already Have Champions, And Basic Champion Mods Should Be Universal And Readily Available

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 11:26 AM PST

Now, the title might get a bit controversial since a lot of people dislike champions in general, but hear me out on this one. Since I've seen a couple of post that we're suggesting that Bungie should implement tutorials or a means to require the usage of champion mods in Nightfalls, I had this idea of implementing it early on in the game. A lot of beginners don't seem to understand them, and don't bring them on Nightfalls. The champion mods seem self explanatory at first, but without seeing it in actual practice, a lot of the mechanics that come with them aren't explained.

My first suggestion would be that champion mods should be readily available and be made universal to all weapon types. This may sound too op but let me elaborate; the current champion mods we use are tied to the current season, these make loadouts less versatile and forces players to use specific weapon types in a season. Making champions mods universal means that all weapon types can all have their version of the champions mods; Which are, overload, unstoppable, and anti-barrier. This will in turn make load outs more variable and versatile. This is easily balanced out by the two armor mods per armor limit, but this can be further balanced by only making the "normal champion mods" available without the artifact (By normal champion mods I meant the one's in the first column of the artifact, the ones without other effects aside from their respective champion effect). Another thing is the mods slot requirements, more powerful types of weapons should obviously require more slots (like the current anti-barrier sniper requiring 6 slots). The mods should also be made farmable, starting with three starter mods, which correspond to the three champion types and your first weapons' types.

My second suggestion is that the first mission should already implement champions; the champions obviously needing to be underpowered. Introduction of scenarios that require the mods, would play a key role in teaching new light's the importance of always carrying them. One good example of a situation where you are forced to deal with champions is in the strike Broodhold. The part where you are required to get worms from knights, force you to deal with barrier champions. The new light quest should ask you to put the mods on and include encounters that coax you into learning how to use them. For example, while equipping an anti-barrier mod adds that spawn should have shields and you should encounter barrier champions. This method not only introduces the main use of the mods but also their secondary benefits.

Lastly, I think that this can overall benefit seasonal artifacts. They can create more unique mods for the seasons, that can be more experimental and befitting of the season's theme.

I'd like to know more suggestions from you guys, if you guys think this would be a good idea.

    P.S. I can't live without anti-barrier mods

Unbroken II looks better than Unbroken 2 (Guilded)

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 08:23 AM PST

    Hello!

So they announced in the Bungie SoD that they are going to show how many times you've gilded that said title, but I feel the actual numbers make it look sloppy, and ugly looking. Could you try changing it from Numbers to Roman Numerals instead? I feel it would just look aesthetically pleasing instead of just the number.

Now that sunsetting has been sunset, it would be a good idea to consider making changes to the Vault

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 09:34 AM PST

Seriously. I personally don't use all 500 slots at the moment, but if we're gonna be carrying random rolled gear for the next god knows how many years, the vault needs to change to accommodate it sooner or later. Things like more vault space, separate custom vault tabs, tagging certain items with custom color tags and so on would be really cool, but I'd love to hear your ideas too! I know it's early, but hopefully Bungie can start working on this before it becomes a problem.

After playing other games, let's take a moment to appreciate something in Destiny that doesn't usually get mentioned...

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 08:23 AM PST

    The fonts.

Seriously, every other game has some sci-fi Mass Effect techno-lettering.

I love a simple, Helvetica style font, and Destiny nailed how to present wording and labels from the get-go.

Before Synthesis arrives, please for the love of the Traveler don’t make the materials ridiculously scarce

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 02:23 PM PST

This is a feature the community has wanted for a while, so to finally get it and have Silver be the only viable option would suck. Don't make the materials so hard to obtain that paying real money is the better option, have it be a side-incentive instead of the driving factor.

Tower Thought; do you ever think the vex don't genuinely care what we do, and just keep setting up elaborate "plots" to destroy the galaxy to keep the violent loot obsessed monkeys from sol busy?

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 05:11 PM PST

I mean if you think about it, vex encryption and plots tend to be laughably bad. They send powerful enemies at us, but never really seem to commit actual resources. If anything the fact they have loot, designed for guardians, that seems to me to just be a sacrificial offering to get us to screw off for five minuets and let them have some peace and quiet. And that all the experiments on organics is just their attempt to get us to piss off.

I was a supporter of sunsetting, but man it felt good playing yesterday knowing all my God rolled armor and stuff didn't have an expiration date.

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 11:11 AM PST

Funny tho, with transmog on the way, there's no reason to have more than 3 class items per class with each singe. Gonna be farming the old raids now for armor sets ig.

Please let the Last Word's catalyst function similar to dead man's take but in reverse

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 08:59 AM PST

As you may know, the catalyst for dead man's tale allows it to be hipfired at a faster rate (and removed hipfire penalty).

My hope then is that if/when we get the catalyst for the last word, please allow it to fire like a normal hand cannon when ADS. Give a slight boost to range (nothing crazy) and maks it have a slow rate if fire (maybe 120 or even 110). Essentially make it a worse 120 with decently reduced range when ADS

I feel like this would help it in PvE a little bit and probably wouldn't change much in PvP where it's still better to hipfire as it would be outperformed by other hand cannon archetypes when ADS.

    So I'm a hoarder.

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 06:42 AM PST

My vault is almost always full. I just can't let go of weapons that might be god rolls next meta or armor with high stat rolls.

In come sunsetting. Okay. I can clean out some weapons that got sunset. Old armor. Check.

    But still full. Always full.

Yesterday morning, I decided it was time for spring cleaning. Sharded any armor that was sunsetting this season or next just for good measure.

    Yesterday morning.

I was feeling good. Proud o' ya. Finally cleaned out some space in the ol vault.

And then in comes the announcement.

    No more sunsetting.

And I'm left holding a pile of shards that used to be my gear.

I'm not upset or anything. Okay, maybe I'm bemused by it all. Maybe slightly annoyed at the timing.

    Yesterday morning.

I love the changes. I just wanted to share this with you because I'm pretty sure the changes were all because of me. Someone at Bungie saw my vault thinning out and decided it was time.

    You're welcome.

I have to imagine it would be really resource heavy on hardware, but when last gen consoles aren't supported, I would love a battlegrounds type activity with 12+ guardians in a land war with a different race.

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 09:05 AM PST

After seeing the 20 person strike on the front page and knowing everyone wants a permanent 6 person matchmade activity, I was thinking how cool a mode would be that felt like a true land war. Battlegrounds and the enemy density is really great, but how cool would it be if there were 4x the enemies with 4x the guardians on 3x the size of the battlefield? We could even throw a segment in where we have tanks and fight some tanks! Think an in game Battle of Twilight gap activity!
