If you kill yourself with your own super, say a Nova bomb, it counts for Shaxx’s bounty of killing an enemy with your super. I, sadly, just figured that out.

75+ Gambit matches, 41 wins, an Infamy reset, and not a single Gambit specific loot drop

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 10:43 AM PST

I'm not saying the drop rates are bad, but I got 5 exotic engram drops from ads during the time it took me to get zero bottom dollars or trinity systems, so. I'm sure there's people that are drowning in them. I am not one of those people.

    Some observations from my sufferings;

Motes drop through the floor extremely often. Especially on the emerald coast.

Also, why is the dreaming city map gone but the titan one is still here? Titan's gone, dreaming city isn't, so why did we get rid of maps? We only have 3 and it's abysmal playing the same ones over and over going for this gilded seal and trying for loot that won't seem to drop.

Ads teleport frequently across large distances of the map (I'm running hardwired fiber, so it's not my connection)

Why do the gambit engrams, and clan weekly gambit engram, contain general world loot? Why am I getting errant knight, insight vikti armor, and seventh seraph weapons when I claim a gambit engram?

Why am I playing Gambit and getting rewards from everything but gambit? Can we turn the world loot down and the actual gambit pool up a bit? And up the drop rate at end of matches? A buddy that suffered with me only got 1 handcannon the entirety of our playing as well, so the drops aren't just asinine for me.

Just up the rates of actual playlist gear, please. I'm not playing gambit for old crucible cloaks in my engrams.

Edit: Gilded title is finished. Easily over 100 games over the past 3 days. Still none. Not stepping a foot back into gambit this season for sure. Fuck these drop rates.

Second edit: it is apparently my cake day

Third edit: this kinda blew up. Thanks for all the commiseration from others who are going through the same drought. Bungie if you see this, please look at drop rates across the board. It's bad enough the gear will get sunset. At least give us better chances of getting the gear before then. Also Gambit needs serious love. Only 3 maps? C'mon man.

can we just remove the clan exp limit. its literally pointless, wastes our time, and hurts small clans.

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 05:00 AM PST

if me and 5 of my friends play enough to max a clan banner then let us.
its stupid being forced to do everything 3 times because of arbitrary character based limits. why let me do a mission on 3 different characters for a drop when I can just do it once with increased chances or multiple times on one character.
why do I need to go grind out 5k clan exp on each character every week for the feint hope of getting to rank 4 by the end of the season when I already play more than enough on my main to get the clan to max by my self within a season and ENJOY doing it because its my chosen main class and not the other two classes that I don't enjoy playing nearly as much.

It was really great seeing our jumpships holding station in the beginning of the secret mission...

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 06:43 AM PST

Could we get more of this please? I feel like our ships are vanity items that don't see much glory apart from being in orbit or loading into a planet.

On that note, I know it's been asked before many times but I would love if we could get that effect from the destiny 1 announcement where our ship swoops down and roars overhead when a fireteam member joins in? Maybe with the changes to the game engine this is realistic to implement now and it would be super badass.

A breakdown of the Presage mission, storywise

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 05:55 PM PST

The ominous Presage mission is a creepy and mysterious quest that takes place near the Reef. Many people have already done this quest, but not many know the full story of what actually happened in the Glykon. Thus, I am here to give a simplified version of what actually went down in the Glykon.

WARNING: MASSIVE SPOILERS AHEAD ; SCROLL TO END FOR TLDR

    Source: https://www.ishtar-collective.net/categories/book-captains-log

    Background:

    • Katabasis - a troubled male hunter in exile, attuned to the void subclass and using Spectral Blades, a Shadow of Calus (one of Calus' elite champions)
    • Gilgamesh AKA Gilly - Katabasis' Ghost, disgruntled, disillusioned, doesn't really believe in what Kata is doing anymore and is more or less shady
    • Emperor Calus - a withering cabal emperor who uses his robotic surrogates to hide his frailty
    • Qinziq - a female Psion officer who has orders from Calus to study the Scorn but also suspicious of Kata
    • Bahr'Toran - a relatively friendly Cabal Centurion assigned to protect Katabasis from other Cabal who dislikes Kata's command
    • Glykon Volatus - a Cabal carrier-class warship, belonging to the Red Legion

    Storyline:

Katabasis meets with the real and frail Emperor Calus whose body is deteriorating and weak. Calus explains to him that the Darkness has reneged on their promise to elevate him to godlike status some time ago when they first met. Thus, he intends to communicate and remind them of it. What he needs is the Glykon Volatus, a warship to hold the creatures he intends to communicate through. He assigns Katabasis to this task. With the help of Qinziq and Bahr, Kata succeeds, stealing and bringing the ship to orbit above the Reef.

Qinziq orders Kata and Bahr to capture Scorn and hold them in the Glykon. Kata questions Bahr's loyalty to Calus, where Bahr believes that Calus will use the Darkness to reclaim Torobatl, the Cabal homeworld. Katabasis talks to Qinziq and notices that she is studying the Darkness within the Scorn. It is important to note that Gilly does not spend much time with Kata and prefers to roam the Glykon by himself. The Glykon moves towards a destination simply called the Anomaly, presumably where the Darkness is stronger.

Calus arrives with the Crown of Sorrow. Using his Councillor Psions, Calus taps into the Crown of Sorrow with the Darkness from Scorn and tries to communicates with the Darkness. This tears reality. Receiving nothing, Calus tears the Scorn apart in rage as everyone watches. This is when the fungal growths start appearing. Kata has frequent nightmares about the Last City in flames.

Calus tries again. Bahr'Toran tells Katabasis that Gilly has been talking to the Scorn. Kata questions Gilly but the little light says nothing. As Calus communes, reality is sundered this time and drags the entire Glykon into an alternate dimension. Calus and his Councillor Psions disappears. The alternate dimension breaks and shifts the ship's parts, rearranging them and freeing the Scorn from their cages. They swarm to the Locus, a Scorn associated with the Darkness who tempts them with salvation, for leadership.

The Glykon is overtaken with Scorn now. Katabasis and Bahr'Toran fight against the Scorn as they make their way to Qinziq, who has assembled the last remaining Loyalist forces. Gilly appears and disappears at times, causing Bahr to comment on this. Qinziq attempts to use the Crown of Sorrow to bring the ship back to normal space as the remaining Cabal and Katabasis defends her against the incoming onslaught of Scorn. Even with the help of a Lightbearer, the defending forces fall against the stampede of Scorn quickly. However, Qinziq is able to bring the Glykon back to normal space before perishing.

Katabasis is resurrected by Gilly and hides from the Scorn, who now has complete control of the ship. Kata takes the time to bury the Cabal, but suffers from starvation and eventually dies. Before he dies he requests that Gilly does not bring him back unless there is rescue, to which Gilly agrees.

Gilly revives Kata in FULL VIEW of the Scorn. Katabasis is in shock and demands why he has done so. Refusing to side with Katabasis anymore, he explains that he is tired of all the running and that the Scorn offers a way out, salvation in exchange for Katabasis severing his light. If he does not do so, the Scorn will tear Kata apart and Gilly will keep resurrecting him until he learns his lesson. Katabasis slowly realises that his Ghost has given in to the Darkness, and shoots him.

TLDR; Calus disappeared after communing with darkness with help from Katabasis, releasing the Scorn aboard the Glykon. Katabasis' ghost gets corrupted by darkness and Kata shoots it.

Edit 1: u/Neseleth brought up some good points about the Darkness inside the Glykon. It is likely that the Locus has been influenced by the Darkness in one way or another more heavily than the "normal" Scorn as seen when they flocked to the Locus for leadership. The Scorn needs a leader as seen from Fikrul and Hiraks, but when all of them are dead, the Darkness or an entity in a similar vein saw the opportunity and took it, entering the Scorn's minds with the help of the Crown of Sorrows. Speculation: Some powerful Darkness entity or perhaps Darkness itself took control/manipulated a "normal" Scorn and transformed it into the Locus and brought in the fungi growth seen throughout the ship, intent on assimilating the crew and the environment similar to the Flood from Halo.

Give Shadebinders a wizard hat in their super

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 02:02 PM PST

You think this is a joke? It isn't. They're clearly styled after wizards, they have a staff with a glowing orb on it. Just give them the wizard hat they clearly deserve.

Hey Bungie, how about the emblem on the director GLOWS or something when it's Double/Triple Infamy or Valor???

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 05:43 AM PST

As it stands the only in-game way to divine whether there's Infamy or Valor for the taking is the screensplash on logging in, and even that is terribly vague.

If the point of juiced-up reputation is to get more people into the play mode then I'm thinking that emblem should shine or SOMETHING, and maybe give a better explanation on hover-over - like how long is it lasting, is it double, or triple, or what?

    Just my two motes.

It was nice hitting 100k in a nightfall on Hero difficulty for once

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 02:25 PM PST

Playing this weeks nightfall feels so boring in comparison. So much time is spent just running area to area with nothing to shoot, and the score really shows how much enemy density matters in a strike. I replayed Sepik's more times than I have ever done with any nightfall in the entirety of D2's life. I don't feel like one pinnacle drop is really worth LFG, especially when I can get the same for doing 3 regular strikes.

I really hope Bungie reworks every strike to have more enemies, last week was the most fun I've had playing strikes since D1 when all my friends still played and there were unique rewards for nearly every strike. I can't even bring myself to play this weeks nightfall more than once because of how time consuming and unrewarding it is.

If Umbrals are here to stay we need more engram space in our inventory.

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 08:21 AM PST

If you ever feel useless, remember that it's someone's job to make a new clan banner staff every season.

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 02:46 PM PST

Obviously not the person's entire job, but there's a new clan banner staff after every season. Someone has to design them, and some of them actually look pretty neat! But no one will ever see them or be able to appreciate them apart from taking a glance for a second when they curiously inspect their banner.

You know, if Season of the Chosen is any benchmark for what kind of weapons we'll be seeing in the future, than infusion-capping wouldn't have been necessary.

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 12:15 PM PST

Because these weapons' perk combinations are so cool, people would want to grind for them, even if they had older stuff that they use reliably and love. We all know that infusion-capping is about extending the grind, but with weapons like Extraordinary Rendition, The Messenger, Salvager's Salvo, Bottom Dollar, and Frozen Orbit, the grind will extend itself, and players will be adequately rewarded for it.

Having Osiris on the comms was really cool

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 08:49 AM PST

I enjoyed the dialogue from Osiris on the new exotic mission. Lots of interesting things to dissect.

It's great we get to hear more from such a famous character that hasn't really gotten the spotlight since CoO.

    More Osiris. Me like.

Hey Bungie, this is just a friendly reminder that I want my hand cannon targeting mod back. Thanks.

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 07:37 PM PST

The Presage boss has a bad tendency to teleport right in front of you.

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 07:26 AM PST

I'm sure this is a glitch since it has no teleporting mechanic after the initial bit of damage, but I died several times to it last night. Basically, I'd drop down into the lower level, and the boss would immediately cross the room and smash me with its flail.

    Here's an example.

Having no radar during the new exotic mission was a really cool touch by bungie.

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 04:35 PM PST

It made those noises even scarier because you had no idea if there was a screeb about to jump out at you.

It also just increased the horror vibe of the whole mission and made it alot cooler.

To all the guardians who get matched with me to play Showdown this week. I’m sorry.

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 08:31 AM PST

There isn't anything that sucks the fun out of a game more than having to grind out a game mode to hit some arbitrary target when it comes at the expense of teammates. Yet. Here we are. I can cap points in control. I can throw nova bombs like water balloons in mayhem. But I'm just getting shot in the side of the head by some sweaty titan sliding around with a shotgun to finish the damn task so I can have fun doing something else right now and I'm sorry. I just finished a match where I had 2 kills. 2! And the top guy on our trio had 20.

Jfc. I'm gonna to shoot some hive with a sidearm for awhile to feel like I'm helping control the pest population or something.

    Radar disabled in Presage mission

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 08:40 AM PST

I think this was brilliantly done, You don't know where the adds will come from, at least on first play through and had you looking around a lot. It also gave it a survival horror feeling that I really loved. I want more missions like that with that type of setting and no radar.

New Exotic Quest is worth the Season Pass alone

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 09:10 PM PST

I haven't enjoyed Destiny this much since Zero Hour, the dark and twisting maze in an unknown deserted ship left me scrambling to discover new mechanics while it's labyrinth of puzzles made me consistently hope that this will be the new platform for halloween.

For a moment I felt like I was in an episode of Supernatural perfectly blended with Destiny looking for a missing guardian and a monster to go with it.

The exotic has not disappointed, though it definitely feels like it's going to be a pvp item and I'm more of a pve player it's still be great to go for it. The mission's naturally replay-able and lore and comments suggest that it will be constantly changing at weekly reset as the maze twists and moves itself like the staircases in harry potter.

In Short, Boungie Brought their A game for this one, and they deserve the high five.

Hey Bungie, a shader kiosk for unobtainable shaders would be awesome.

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 07:48 PM PST

There's currently a ton of shaders that are unobtainable. Ones from raids, crucible, certain activities, etc.

It would be really nice if we could actually have a chance at obtaining them.

A shoutout for an often overlooked aspect of the game: writing and voice acting has been exceptional this season

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 10:29 AM PST

From the Battlegrounds voice lines to the Presage mission, this season the writing and acting are so good. I love that they're rotating characters in and out of seasons and packing story and lore into them.

The Battlegrounds dialogue between any combination of Crow, Saladin, Holliday, and Osiris have been really entertaining and I appreciate different dialogue at the end of a repeatable activity.

Osiris' lines in the new mission were just insanely well written and delivered. I normally don't care much for Osiris but a few of his lines were bone chilling. "We're too late. Far, too late."

    Good shit Bungie

Bungie has absolutely killed it with new perks since Beyond Light

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 06:50 PM PST

The added Wellspring, which is Demolitionist, but for all abilities without the reload mechanic. Awesome for ability focused builds. Thresh, allowing for easier supers in PvE encourages people to run the more fun ones like roaming supers or nova bomb instead of saving a well or bubble for entire encounters

They reintroduced Raid-exclusive perks with an awesome set in Reconstruction, Recombination, and Redirection which are all great PvE focused rewards for the highest level of PvE content.

They gave Season of the Chosen a unique damage perk, Frenzy, adding an interesting choice between the more effective but harder to trigger damage perks like Rampage and Kill Clip, while also giving people a reason to farm for new gear.

Then there's just the random interesting perks they added with Beyond Light: Chain Reaction (currently a fucking blast to use on the seasonal), Dual Loader (I only ever seem to get it on Heritage), Surplus (one of my favorites)

They ALSO combined the Rocket Launcher buff with several new interesting perks for launchers in Lasting Impression and Impulse Amplifier.

They've been adding powerful, interesting stuff that feels worth grinding for and I think they deserve a lot of credit.
