    This week at Bungie, we intercepted a distress signal.

    Strange things are afoot. Guardians have discovered a distress signal and Commander Zavala has ordered that the source be investigated. A mysterious derelict ship lurks in the abyss of space. Terrifying sounds of the unknown ring from within. What puzzles and treasures await? Find out for yourself by starting the mission from inside the Arms Dealer strike – this week's Nightfall: The Ordeal.

    We don't want to spoil anything and do recommend going into the new Presage Exotic mission without reading up on what horrors await but did want to give anyone who is curious the sneakiest of peeks.

    If you did happen to get sidetracked during your Arms Dealer Nightfall, it's worth looping back to earn this week's featured weapon. We are hearing good things about Palindrome which was a popular Hand Cannon from the Destiny 1 era.

    That's not all that went live this week. A new Battleground has opened on the Cosmodrome with more huge engagements that will pit heavily outnumbered fireteams up against large waves of enemies who have entrenched themselves in defensive positions. Don't forget to pick up a few of those Cosmodrome bounties before you start taking out the Cabal, one by one.


    Iron Banner

    Next week, Lord Saladin will return to the Tower for the first time in Season of the Chosen. He brings with him Iron Banner bounties that will grant you pinnacle drops. This Season will have The Time-Worn Spire and Multimach CCX returning from the first year of Destiny 2 with random rolls for the first time.

    There will also be a new perk called Iron Reach that can roll on these two weapons. Iron Reach will massively increase range with the tradeoff of decreased stability. Try it out and let us know what you think!

    The Iron Will armor set also returns, updated to accept new Combat Style mods.

    Equip your most powerful gear and ready your favorite weapons. And remember, capture those zones.

    Iron Banner and bonus Valor begins at 9 AM on February 23, running through 9 AM on March 2.

    It's time now to turn things over to the experts on our Player Support Team who are tracking any known issues and when their fixes are going live.

    PRESAGE PINNACLE

    We are currently investigating an issue causing the Pinnacle reward for Presage to drop as a Powerful reward instead. This issue will be resolved in a future update.

    HELP CENTER MIGRATION

    Earlier today, February 18, all content guides, error code articles, troubleshooting pages, and other Help Center content previously hosted on Bungie.net was migrated to a new service. The help center URL is still help.bungie.net and old links to existing help articles should continue to work and will redirect to the new Help Center's URLs.

    This new version of the Help Center has some player-facing navigational and visual upgrades but will otherwise contain the same support content in all of our currently supported languages on Bungie.net. This migration will not affect the #Help Forum.

    Migrating a Help Center is a complex task and we thank all of the teams that have helped us, especially the Bungie.net and Localization teams. If you notice any broken links, untranslated sections (excluding Contact Forms), or other oddities or issues while using the new Help Center site, please report them to our #Companion Forum.

    MISLABELLED EXOTIC ORNAMENTS

    Last week, the following Exotic ornaments were removed from the Eververse store due to an issue causing them to display the incorrect Exotic armor piece that they apply to:

    • The Titan Fourteenth Anamnesis ornament for the Helm of Saint-14.
    • The Warlock Caduceus ornament for Ophidian Aspect.
    • The Hunter Mantle of Remembrance ornament for Shinobu's Vow.

    We are currently working on providing Silver refunds to players who purchased these ornaments in Season of the Chosen and were affected by the issue. We will provide more information when it becomes available.

    BRIGHT DUST CHALLENGE REWARDS

    We are currently investigating an issue resulting in some players to not receive their Bright Dust rewards from completing the Weekly Challenges for Gambit, Crucible, and Vanguard. Players affected by this issue will be granted the Bright Dust they should have earned in a future update.

    KNOWN ISSUES

    While we continue investigating various known issues, here is a list of the latest issues that were reported to us in our #Help Forum:

    • Several new items are missing Lore tabs.
    • Players may experience crashes in the Jetsam of Saturn, Archer's Line, and EDZ Outskirts.
    • The Chosen Destruction Focused Umbral Engrams cannot be used to focus Umbral Engrams once completed.
    • The Anti-Barrier Scout Rifle mod behaves inconsistently with certain scout rifles.
    • Player benefiting modifiers in the Battlegrounds playlist are not granting correct bonuses.
    • Ticuu's Divination catalyst quest does not progress with explosion kills from the weapon.
    • There is no indication of the weekly challenge available at the H.E.L.M.
    • Players may receive an Online Privileges pop-up if they attempt to load into Battleground: Hailstone with a fireteam member who has not yet completed the Beyond Light introductory mission.
    • Players are only able to reset their Valor and Infamy ranks a limited number of times.
    • The Good Company gilded Triumph may not count progress if players are killed.
    • The door in the Hollowed Lair strike sometimes doesn't open, resulting in players having to abort the strike.

    Battlegrounds should count as Strikes for bounties and quests.

    They're practically Strikes-lite, and they're even in the Strikes section. If they counted as Strikes in bounties and quests that would just make parts of the seasonal grind so much quicker.

    PVE enemy lag has become really bad again

    Since Beyond Light me and my friends noticed heavy increases in PVE enemies lagging, teleporting and rubberbanding. Sometimes they even glitch into walls or the ground because of this. They also regenerate large chunks of health when they receive too much damage too quickly (e.g. from Lament, Rocket Lauchers, one-shot supers ...).

    There are also more and more occurrences of Warmind Cells disappearing when there are too many things happening around it (and yes I'm sure that my blueberry teammate didn't shoot it, it just instantly despawns by itself). Certain perks like Dragonfly or Chain Reaction also seem to stop working when a lot of animations are happening.

    It is especially bad in high density zones like the Raid, Gambit or this season's Battlegrounds. I've wasted tons of ammo on enemies that suddenly teleport to the other end of the map or simply reset their health bar as if I've never hit them. It's very annoying and detrimental to the gunplay experience and I hope Bungie can deploy some network improvements to bring this back to an acceptable level.

    If weapons are going to have 12 perks in each slot they should drop with multiple choices

    Right now when farming for the Palindrome you have 1/36 chance of getting the god roll of perks you are looking (excluding mag and barrel) which is pretty reasonable.

    If you are farming for one of the playlist activities (already have RNG and a bad drop rate) you have 1/144 chance (excluding mag and barrel). Having two perks in each slot changes those chances back to 1/36.

    Edit:

    Right now god roll chances are 1/9072 with 12 perks in each slot.

    My suggestion changes that to 1/2268.

    Edit: honestly shocked at how much attention this caught lmao. To be clear I understand it's a good gun, however I feel like it would be better implemented if "sunset" weapons were purchasable through a kiosk or something. I can't imagine anyone being super stoked about it unless it was something they were actively looking to get it.

    Also, if that helpful award cost one of y'all money to give this post you're a madman/woman.

    Bungie, an independent, employee-owned creator of world-famous videogames like Halo and Destiny, today announced major initiatives to prepare for the company's expected and rapid future growth, including the appointment of Trace Harris and Viacom CBS' Pamela Kaufman to its board of directors.

    HQ Expansion, International Office Coming in 2022

    In January, as part of its ongoing plan for sustainable growth, Bungie broke ground on an extensive expansion and redesign of its worldwide headquarters. Estimated to be complete in Fall 2022, this project will increase Bungie's HQ footprint from 84,000 sq. ft. to more than 208,000 sq. ft. In addition to building state-of-the-art facilities to support the growth and development of their talented employees, one of the primary drivers of Bungie's expansion is to increase the commitment to the long-term development of Destiny 2, tell new stories in the Destiny Universe, and create entirely new worlds in to-be-announced IPs. The new facility will include a reimagining of its Bellevue, WA-based studio space to support multiple project teams, including those outside of the Destiny Universe. Designed by award-winning architect NBBJ, the new HQ is centered on collaborative "neighborhoods" built to support the spirit of deeply integrated creative collaboration that defines Bungie's success and a hybrid workforce of both remote and on-site staff.

    In 2022, Bungie will open its first international office in Amsterdam. This office space represents Bungie's developing global business and will be home to the company's growing Publishing and Marketing divisions, ensuring Bungie's ongoing commitment to unify and expand on their passionate player community all over the world.

    Key Personnel Additions and Investments Announced

    Alongside the additions to its Board of Directors, Bungie has also announced several key talent additions and investments into its renowned talent pool.

    Newer appointments to the Bungie Leadership Team for the years of industry expertise they bring from inside and outside Bungie: Luis Villegas (Chief Technology Officer), Danielle Porter (Chief Financial Officer), and Don McGowan (General Counsel).

    To expand the Destiny IP and bring new stories and experiences to their highly engaged community, Bungie appointed Mark Noseworthy (Vice President, Destiny Universe) and Luke Smith (Executive Creative Director, Destiny Universe) to oversee and prepare for the expansion of the Destiny Universe into additional media.     Bungie Welcomes Entertainment and Media Expertise to the Board of Directors

    Bungie has announced the addition of two new members to its Board of Directors: Trace Harris, a finance and strategy executive, and Pamela Kaufman, President of Global Consumer Products for ViacomCBS. Harris and Kaufman bring years of expertise in multi-media IP expansion alongside their acumen in business operations scaling and join NetEase's Simon Zhu as external members to Bungie's Board.

    Trace Harris is a finance and strategy executive with deep experience in governance, financial transactions, and partnerships for industry-leading companies across the entertainment and technology sectors. She serves as a board member, chair of the Compensation Committee and member of the Audit and the Mergers & Acquisitions Committees for Altair Engineering, a global software company in the areas of data analytics product development and high-performance computing and data analytics. Harris' professional experience includes 13 years with global entertainment company Vivendi, most recently as its senior US executive for strategy, finance, and M&A.

    Pamela Kaufman is President, ViacomCBS Global Consumer Products, overseeing the worldwide licensing and merchandising of ViacomCBS' portfolio of brands spanning Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central, BET, CBS, Showtime and Paramount Pictures, and iconic franchise properties. Kaufman previously served as President of Consumer Products and Chief Marketing Officer for Nickelodeon.

    Crucible is Now a Place for Sweats to Play Casually, but Not for Casuals to Play

    As a PvE main and lesser-skilled Crucible player, I miss being able to meaningfully participate in 6-person matches as I did in D1 and early D2. Even in D1 when I didn't yet have my Thorn, and seemingly everyone else did, Crucible was far more fun than it is now.

    Now even games of Control are often "called" because they are one-sided curb stomps. Every guy on the other team seems to be a Flawless running with Felwinters or Trials guns. (Where exactly are all those tryhards that said they wanted SBMM removed so they could get a break from running the meta? They certainly aren't in my matches...) And even when my side wins, it's meaningless because the 1-2 top guys are basically carrying the team.

    We desperately need a regular 6-person mode with SBMM. I know many people that have abandoned quests with a Crucible component because they just don't want to deal with the curbstomping and teabagging anymore. I have a friend that has recently tried Destiny and is looking to sample everything, but I honestly can't think of what Crucible mode to suggest he try, because Competitive is very team-based and there isn't a single 6-player mode (outside the utter chaos that is Mayhem) that doesn't result in a game dominated by a few better-skilled players.

    Yeah, yeah, git gud, I know. But I miss when Crucible was actually playable for everyone.

    I ran 5 Battleground modes tonight to finish up some weekly challenges. The first one went fine. Second one tougher because one player left so we two-manned it to the finish.

    But in each of the last 3 runs we got matched with a person who would just sit back through each stage until it was time to move on to the next part. Literally would drive his sparrow to a rock or something to hide behind in the corner somewhere and just wait for the next part to get to. First run, i just let it go. Whatever happens sometimes.

    But then it happened the very next match again with a completely different player and i wasnt having it. So i started purposely luring the enemies over to where the AFK'er would hide and hang around him and even got him killed a couple times and then he got the hint and we finished the run.

    The last run, same thing. AFK'er right off the bat. This was on Europa this time. AFK'er drove his sparrow to one of the ledges and just sat there in his chair emote. So i told my buddy were leaving the match. Make that guy annoyed and he'll either back out too or actually try and play himself. Don't care. F him.

    Don't do this please. Just play it and grind it out like the rest of have too. Don't make it a harder than it already is.

    We need a way to decrypt primes and well lets be honest, Tyra is barely interacted with on the farm. Simple solution is move her to the Helm.

    Raid team overlooking Europa. While doing this illustration it got me thinking, I wish bungie made 6 man teams possible for patrol, or having the option to have 6 people for strikes. Should be a norm with the new engine update and next-gen. Feels bad leaving out people in a group of 3+ people.

    With Destiny moving into new Media, a Clone Wars style cartoon where arcs last 1-3 episodes and jump around chronologically would be really cool for the Destiny Universe.

    Please Bungie... Let the tier 3 (5 hammer charge) umbral focused armor drop with a minimum of 62 rather than 58

    Let me get this straight... the focusing of armor is really Good already, it guarantees 20+ stats on the particular stat You focus... IT IS AMAZING

    But the fact that it is most of the time a 58 or 59 stat roll means that:

    1. It will lose a lot on other stats...

    2. It kinda makes me feel bad that my really well rolled 20+ armor on recov is only a 58 total

    The second reason is more the "feels bad side" rather than a major issue...

    Am I the only one that feels this way?

    Dont get me wrong the drops are reaaally fucking nice... but if they were only at a Higher total stat count...

    Bringing back exotic class items with incentive and purpose

    Spoilers: Minor Spoilers regarding the new mission.

    TLDR: Make exotic class items able to be earned through endgame challenges and allow them to give a little bonus in said activity.

    Bungie I have been talking with my clan and we have thought of a way to bring back exotic class items and make them aspirational loot.

    Allow exotic class items to be rewards for completing hard challenges within the game. The reward/look of the class item could be tiered in a way that Guardian Games rewards were. For any OSRS players think of achievement diaries (or at least how they used to be back when I played).

    I will use the new Presage mission as an example and hunter cloaks for simplicity. (Granted this may need to be on a dungeon more so than this mission or a heroic variant to allow for the proper endgame style of grind).

    - Are you able to duo the mission? Boom. You are rewarded with an old tattered cloak that has the tex mechanica symbol on it.

    - Solo the mission? Now your cloak is brand new and everyone seeing you knows you have some skill or can potentially cheese stuff.

    - Solo flawless the mission? That cloak is going to look absolutely badass and maybe even glow with the bull horns on it and everyone who sees you will expect you know how to heroic PE's (except the RNG taken blight /s).

    The final tier of the class item could give a small bonus to whatever is was tied to for obtaining it. In this case when you have the final tier of the item equipped you would get 2 drops of DMT at the end of the mission. This makes it aspirational because it rewards the effort put in but does not make the buff unfair to those who don't have it.

    This was just me randomly spitballing ideas but I thought it would be a cool way to show off achievements in game other than just emblems or shaders and such. This would also not require Bungie to have to develop a full armor set and allow for some uniqueness in your fashion.

    You should not get frozen out of your super.

    I know stasis is still problem in the crucible and so I offer a solution. Stasis should not under any circumstance freeze a player out of their super. Your going to tell me that I wait ~4 min just to have it all drained. The slowing effect would work just fine and the damage increase from freezing should also still apply but the getting frozen out of a super is not fun. Or you keep the super energy not used if frozen out of said super. Just an idea to make pvp feel better. (freeze time could be less as well as the break out time)

    Shout-out to whoever designed the Trash Compacter room in the new mission

    I'm sure people have different names for this room, but it is the room where the walls close in on you. Without a doubt my favorite part of the mission. It really makes you feel like your in a SAW trap. The stress and intensity is so high as you fly above the vents looking for a little bit of blue, all while screebs are spawning and you are trying not to get blown to shit. Whoever the people are who designed this room deserve a raise, and give them dental.

    Sundering Glare Mod is WAY BETTER than you think... It stacks with Divinity and can be triggered by shooting your own Divinity Crits! A free 50% total damage buff

    Text TL'DR: Sundering Glare (20% debuff) stacks with Divinity (30% debuff) and Titan Bubble (35% buff) allowing a total of +85% increased damage, and the mod lasts 12 seconds and can be triggered using Divinity by hitting your own Divinity crits!

    I did some testing and this took a lot of effort and work to do. If anyone thinks I've done something wrong let me know, but I feel 100% that I am accurate with my results. So I tested Sundering Glare using the Guiding Sight Scout Rifle with no dps effecting perks or mods etc.

    Activating Sunder Glare takes 4 Scout Rifle critical shots from a distance of around 15-20 meters and once activated you get a damage buff on the effected target for 12 seconds which is a 20% increase.

    TEST RESULTS:

    Normal Shot = 3,612 (base damage)

    Sundering Glare (+20%) = 4,334

    Tether (+0%) + Sundering Glare (+20%) = 4,334 (-10%)

    Tether (+30%) = 4,695

    Divinity (+30%) = 4,695

    Titan Bubble (+35%) = 4,875

    Divinity (+30%) + Sundering Glare (+20%) = 5,634

    Titan Bubble (+35%) + Sundering Glare (+20%) = 5,850

    Titan Bubble (+35%) + Tether (+0%) + Sundering Glare (+20%) = 5,850 (-10%)

    Titan Bubble (+35%) + Divinity (+30%) = 6,338

    Titan Bubble (+35%) + Divinity (+30%) + Sundering Glare (+20%) = 7,605 (+85%)

    Titan Bubble (+35%) + Divinity (+30%) + Tether (+0%) + Sundering Glare (+20%) = 7,605 (+85% / -30%)

    Note: When Sundering Glare is active, it blocks the Tether hitting the weakened target, the Tether included in the last test keeps max DPS because the Divinity is activating Sundering Glare simultaneously.

    EDIT 1: From some comments I understand that the math is incorrect and apologises about that, I hope I still manage to explain how it works even with my terrible math skills! Appreciate the support and comments :)
