    Trials of Osiris is LIVE

This thread is for all general discussion, questions, thoughts, musings, wonderings, etc. for the Trials of Osiris.

    FAQ

    What is Trials of Osiris?

    • Trials of Osiris is the pinnacle PvP activity. Every Weekend, the best players compete in 3v3 Elimination for one goal: Go Flawless.

    • To start, head to Saint-14 in the Tower Hangar and buy one of the possible passages (see below).

    • To reach Flawless and get to the Lighthouse, you need to win 7 matches without losing one.

    • It uses Win Based Matchmaking, which means you'll face teams with a similar amount of wins on their card. Matches will get harder as you win more matches.

    • There is NO fireteam matchmaking. You need to team up yourself!

    • Power Level matters, however bonus power from the artifact is not enabled.

How Long do the Trials of Osiris last?

    • Event Starts: Every Friday at Daily Reset (1700 UTC).

    • Event Ends: Following Tuesday at Weekly Reset (1700 UTC).

Where do I go to find Guardians to compete with in the Trials?

    • You can head over to /r/Fireteams, www.The100.io, Xbox LFG system, DestinyLFG.net or DestinyLFG.com, or go to the Bungie.net recruitment forum (also available through the Bungie App).

What if I have a question about another piece of armor/weapon or general Trials question?

    • Use Control + F (Or Command + F if on a Mac) and search for keywords in your question. Someone may have asked it already. If they haven't ask right below.

Changing the polarity on my armor shouldn't cost a golf ball.

    Posted: 19 Feb 2021 10:59 AM PST

    Title.

It's such a extreme amount of materials to change armor polarity. All this does is discourage trying new builds. In order to play around with builds I either have to constantly dump golf balls to change mod polarity or have to have multiple sets of armor of different polarities. Which wouldn't be a big deal except it's already hard enough getting high stat armor with distribution the way you want it, so when you finally get a good armor roll it already costs a golf ball to masterwork it, then if a new mod comes out you want to try you have to spend another just to change an armor to the proper polarity. Don't like it and want to change back? Another golf ball. It just seems really unnecessary and really discourages me from ever switching up my build.

Bungie, thanks for not putting a timer on the new exotic mission

    Posted: 19 Feb 2021 08:22 AM PST

It makes a huge difference to "less hardcore" players who could have otherwise finished quests like Zero Hour and Whisper, and more importantly it lets you take the time to really explore the incredible environment of the Glykon. Slowly making our way through the tunnels of the ship, peering around corners for screebs, and the sense of disorientation really sold the creepy "Alien" nature of the ship. We really felt like responders to a distress call in space who had to figure out just what the hell was going on. Fantastic design, I hope we see more of this type of environment as we explore more and more of the Darkness.

Edit: thanks for all the awards fellow Guardians! I'm happy I got to spark more discussion about this awesome mission!

    Overload SMG is A W F U L

    Posted: 19 Feb 2021 10:36 AM PST

This is the worse mod in this entire game. Every enemy is perfectly timed to teleport just as the perk activates.

Why in the fuck is a single bow shot more functional than my entire SMG's mag?

Bungie, jumping around through the playlist activities to hunt for god rolls on weapons feels GREAT! Playing 15+ of each and not getting a drop feels AWFUL.

    Posted: 19 Feb 2021 11:38 AM PST

I'm running more Nightfalls than I ever have. I'm playing more Crucible matches. Heck... I'm even playing more Gambit, a game mode I've avoided for entire seasons before. Why? because I want the Bottom Dollar with explosive payload and a reload perk for my raids and nightfalls. It feels so good to play these game modes and hope to get a great roll on some really good weapons that you've designed and put into the game!

    But....

I'm starting to get burned out. Not because I'm playing too much. It's because the drop rates for these weapons are bordering on silly, and are becoming downright frustrating.

I've heard that one of the CM's said that you didn't want us to get the gun and stop playing. I've got news for you guys.... the rolls I want on these guns are pretty specific. And if the drop rates remain as-is, it's pretty much a mathematical impossibility for me to get what I want at this rate. And if I finally get what I want, I'm not going to suddenly stop playing. I want to take that new gun into content and have fun with it because it's what I like to use. But after investing hours upon hours into the playlist activities, I've got maybe a handful of these things to drop.

That feels terrible. It feels like what I want is NOT within reach. It feels totally out of reach. If I get a drop every 3-4 attempts, each one might get me closer and each miss motivates me to play another round... and another round... and another round... because I'm getting them and increasing my chance at getting what I want.

But if you're going to force me to play 10+ matches to HOPEFULLY get a single one of these guns to drop, I'm not longer feeling motivated. I'm feeling DEFLATED. BURNED OUT.

We need LOOT GENEROSITY folks. You guys are so close to making this recipe perfect, but you're holding back the loot for reasons I think you're simply incorrect about.

If I could focus an Umbral engram to narrow it down to the specific gun I want, I'd STILL have a hard time getting the roll I want! And I can't even do that. It's just... play and hope for it to drop once every 15-20 matches? Come on. That's WAY too stingy.

Now that we have 5 Tex Mechanica/Cowboy themed exotics, can we get some cowboy themed armor?

    Posted: 19 Feb 2021 07:27 AM PST

I would LOVE to run around using the Dead Man's Tale while wearing a cowboy hat on my hunter or something.

Edit: I know about lucky pants and the other cowboy inspired armor but my point is that the new exotic scout and all the other western themed stuff has me wanting MORE space cowboy themed armor and stuff.

Can we please just disable Hollowed Lair?

    Posted: 19 Feb 2021 06:17 AM PST

Getting a bit tiresome to load into this strike and either see people stuck at the first door or someone off in the distance farming a lost sector. Either way can't progress.
And can the future fix not rely on the host having to be on the first door as well because in the past this strike would also bug out plenty of times if host was lagging or again, he goes into a lost sector

To the young guardian who whiffed his super...

    Posted: 19 Feb 2021 08:04 AM PST

    We've all been there:

Holding on to your super for the entirety of The Arms Dealer strike, waiting patiently for the boss to appear at the top of the elevator, firing a rocket over his head as you ascend, reaching the top, panicking when you realize a flame turret is lighting you up and close to killing you, you finally release that Nova Bomb only to have it catch on a barrier and for Bracus Zahn to slowly walk away from the vortex bubble that came up a little short.

Sure, it's a bummer. But don't sweat it. Life doesn't get any easier, but with time you become mostly numb to those feelings of disappointment and failure.

And look on the bright side: I got a good chuckle out of you whiffing that Nova Bomb, and it made it all the sweeter when I nuked BZ with my recently buffed Thundercrash.

Cheers, young Warlock, from a friendly (if slightly embittered) mature Titan.

I do not recommend the Capreolinax ornamented Stag exotic for the Presage cuz it'll scare the bejesus out of you

    Posted: 19 Feb 2021 07:11 AM PST

Note mild spoilers for the setup and environment of the Presage mission

The Stag exotic is a great, underrated helm with an amazing ornament https://www.light.gg/db/items/915385568/capreolinax/ that turns into it into a gothic horror masterpiece.

The Presage mission is a fine example of space horror: having you explore a creepy derelict ship. The combination of the ornamented Stag helm + spooky atmosphere + inopportune shadows can give you your own jump scare. https://imgur.com/rQnzl2E

The "Presage" Quest should become the new meta for story/quest content, well done Bungie!

    Posted: 19 Feb 2021 06:07 AM PST

Bungie, as much as myself and many others love to criticise your negative decisions, all that aside, this exotic quest actually felt like a quest and it was fun. So fun that it will most likely be one of my favourite Destiny moments when thinking back in the future.

Usually the exotic weapon quests for weapons are bounty/chore chains until the last step (a harder version of a strike).

Then we had quests for whisper of the worm, outbreak, bad juju (kinda) and hawkmoon that stood out by taking place in entirely new areas for us to explore. Most of those missions had a timer which most players (aside from the top 0,1 challenge seeking players) didn't like that much because you couldn't freely explore.

This mission for the dead man's tale did everything right for me. I went in blind, solo and expected to hit a border where i won't be able to progress solo or to be limited exploring by another timer. But i got surprised in an extremely positive way.

There were so many hidden, barely visible areas/objectives to uncover, i felt like i actually was on an adventure in this space ship, all dark, alone, figuring my way out by not just shooting aliens but also interacting with the playspace you gave us. Absolutely great experience.

I am a Destiny vet and have played everything the franchise had to offer and this mission (even tho elitists will complain about difficulty etc.) was one of my favourite moments in Destiny. (If you didn't go in blind and also didn't solo on your first run, your opinion might be completely different)

TLDR: No timer, decent difficulty so everyone can do this, great jumping/puzzle/enemy distribution, amazing atmosphere and really cool level design. Thank's for this experience Bungie!

The grind for focusing umbral engrams is kinda insane.

    Posted: 19 Feb 2021 02:09 AM PST

When looking at the focusing, it takes 3 charges for a medium focus and 5 charges for the max. Atm, it's a horrendous grind since it takes about 15-20 mins depending on how good your team is to complete one battle ground. That's about a 75 minute grind for one 5 focus charge umbral. And to make it worse it's not even a guarantee for the weapon you want, let alone the roll you want.

I see people say "Wait for the upgrades" so reading them, the only ones that improve this grind are the "Get 2 charges at the cost of more gold" and "Get a chance at an extra charge upon completion". So alright, let's look at that. Say you do have both upgrades and you get lucky with that extra chance, you'll get 3 charges per run. So that's still a 2 runs for a 5 charge umbral. Which is about a 30~ mins for a single umbral engram that isn't even guaranteed the weapon you want. Yikes.

You get more rewards doing a Legend Nightfall in less time. That shouldn't be the case. Especially when it's just a seasonal reward system. It's not like it's for adept weapons or an exotic or some super op Weapon. Literally just how the prismatic recaster works. There's always grinds in destiny, that's fine. But this just goes beyond a grind. It's just a recipe for activity burnout and hate

Celerity : A perk designed to bring hope and help.. but in reality makes you feel hopeless and helpless.

    Posted: 19 Feb 2021 05:58 PM PST

I personally like the perk's intent, but it's a very situational one that makes you feel annoyed that you got it on your gun. I would love for it to be an intrinsic perk on qualified weapons. This frees up the perk slot it occupies for something more commonly useful. Thoughts?

Might be a small change but thanks for having no region lock on patrols in Europa, Bungie.

    Posted: 19 Feb 2021 06:42 AM PST

Seriously, the amount of times I have had to abandon kill mission patrols to complete an activity somewhere else on the planet used to be too damn high. Now I can fire up a patrol anywhere I see it while on the way to a lost sector or a mission and get some additional XP and get some progress on the bounties.

Bungie - how about letting us re-roll a perk at the gunsmith?

    Posted: 19 Feb 2021 10:30 AM PST

I just reset my Infamy rank and earned my gilded Dredgen title. During all that play time I had 2 Bottom Dollar HC's drop, one with outlaw and and the other with rapid hit, but both had a pretty sub optimal last perk. It feels so bad to get SO close to a god roll only to have one perk ruin it when the drop rates are this low. Especially when we know that when we do finally get that perfectly rolled weapon it's only going to be usable in endgame content for a few seasons because of sunsetting.

So... maybe let us put all these gunsmith materials to use to re-roll one perk on a gun? I think it would really help to add a level of customization to our gear while also helping justify the amount of time needed to grind for loot.

Just a thought. But overall... this season is awesome. :)

Bungie, Overload Champions are insufferable this season

    Posted: 19 Feb 2021 01:51 PM PST

Please fix the time gap to reapply stun to them, it's currently WAY too long. No matter what weapon and mod combo i use, I never have a problem with the first stun, but after a stun, and then doing damage, it takes FOREVER to stun them again. If you don't kill them during the first stun they are going to hunt you down and DESTROY you before you can stun them again.

I can't count the number of times I have stunned with an arrow, hit them with a rocket/couple sniper shots, then prep the next arrow and I will land 2 or even three arrow shots and they still won't be stunned.

Even with the arc grenades, it stuns and then doesn't seem to be reapplying the stun and they will literally just walk out of the AoE WHILE TAKING DAMAGE from it.

Last season the stasis grenade could overload stun lock them. I don't know if you all saw that and gave a buff to their stun resistance because you felt it trivialized an already frustrating enemy type, but whatever you did, it was too much. It's not enough that they regen health and teleport CONSTANTLY, but now you have nerfed our ability to engage with them or buffed their resistance.

    This ain't it chief.

Season Pass weapons (fixed rolls) should be able to be re-acquired from Collections

    Posted: 19 Feb 2021 04:19 AM PST

Farming Nightfalls is great and all but I miss the variety of the Heroic Strike Playlist.

    Posted: 19 Feb 2021 10:04 PM PST

I just miss the days when you did a Nightfall 1-3 times a week and farmed the Heroic Strike Playlist. There was so much variety in there and it made me realize I probably wouldn't despise The Palindrome droprate if I was playing a different strike each time. I understand we have to make much more of an effort to prepare for each strike but maybe you get like 2 minutes before hand to prepare when you already know what strike it is. This waiting area could even be a helicarrier above the destination like how we all thought the HELM would be.

For example: Apotheosis veil, vesper of radius, promethian spurs Lucky Pants, oathkeepers, tricksleeves Eternal warrior, Khepri's Horn, peregrine greaves
