    Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding 'Warlock Changes' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

It’d be cool if the engrams that shaxx and drifter give you for ranking up could drop the playlist-specific weapons

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 11:33 AM PST

As of now, they only drop playlist armor (with crappy rolls) and world drops, all 20 power levels under what you are, so it's basically just another fountain of legendary shards.

Making it weighted towards getting a Frozen Orbit/Stars in Shadow/The Keening from shaxx or a Bottom Dollar/Trinary System/Crowd Pleaser from Drifter would also help alleviate the rng on the weapons since they each have like 12 options in both columns 3 and 4. The same could probably be done with Zavala and vanguard token packages, with them weighted towards Xenoclast/Third Axiom/Royal Entry.

I would grind crucible and gambit even more, especially for wins, if I knew I could get more chances at rolls on these weapons directly from the vendors. Especially with weapon expiration dates, a system like this seems like a no brainer.

Edit: a lot more people are seeing this than I thought would be here, so I'll go ahead and suggest that weapons with perk pools as big as these would be the perfect opportunity for Bungie to bring back weekly random vendor rolls on weapons. It'd be sick as hell to watch people coming together over the god roll bottom dollar that drifter might be selling one week like it was d1.

real hooded crow, destiny hooded crow

notice the white+black palette, and how the bird on his chest is a hooded crow / looks like a hooded crow. i used to think he was hawk themed (because hawkmoon and whatnot) but i'm glad to see that i just didn't see the bigger picture.

also, he wears a hood- he's a hooded crow. hehe.

Can Coldheart get an actual intrinsic since there's other trace rifles now?

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 05:32 AM PST

Coldhearts intrinsic is literally being a trace rifle which was definately unique at the time it was introduced but now that there's other trace rifles in the game now I feel like it could do with a new intrinsic.

Edit: The increasing damage over time on a single target is its trait im talking about its perk with the gold circle around it

Edit 2: I believe its called coldheart because its ammo doubles as a coolest which basically stops the laser from destroying the gun i could be wrong but its lore makes it sound like this is the case. so It doesn't make much sense for it to be stasis if this is the case.

Ruinous Effigy has Gone from a Top-Tier Exotic to Mid/Low-Tier, and Its Unjustified

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 12:40 PM PST

I love Ruinous Effigy, It had a pretty good quest, it has unique exotic mechanics no other gun has, and it has been one of my favorite exotics since it came out. Despite it still being one of my favorites, post-Beyond Light Ruinous Effigy pales in comparison to other exotics after the nerf to its drain ability that was never really justified. I remember seeing posts here saying, "Oh, they must be nerfing it because it must do something with the darkness that makes it really powerful in BL." Well at this point it's pretty clear that Ruinous Effigy doesn't effect the darkness whatsoever, so it basically got a nerf for no reason. And now everybody forgot about it, leaving it like a broken toy to rot in their vault.

I'm not asking for the gun to be able to insta-kill stuff obviously, but a small buff to drain on the spheres would make it more much more suitable for running in strikes and heroic lost sectors. I find it a shame that one of the most exotic exotics in the game is outperformed by pretty basic legendaries in terms of add clearing potential. Even if Bungie decides to not buff it, can we at least get a kill tracker for Transmutation orb kills? At this point it would, without a doubt, be my highest kill gun but it only tracks laser kills.

If anyone else has thoughts on this, I'd like to hear them. Hopefully this thing will finally get the attention it deserves.

Dear Bungie: it's already known by good testers that Zen Moment only affects reticle shake on controller and not the stability stat. Would it be possible to buff it so it does what its description says?

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 08:59 AM PST

I'm tired of sharding Zen Moment rolls as a mouse player; I'd love if it gave stability.

Proof that it doesn't give stability:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvHqDUpTFlI

    https://www.reddit.com/r/CruciblePlaybook/comments/ge6rcd/zen_moment_does_something_testing_review_guide/

    https://reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/ldbsrv/how_zen_moment_actually_works/

You can clearly see in the tests that the height of the kick is invariable and that it only affects reticle shake, which isn't present on mouse at all. I think if it actually gave stability would benefit both controller and mouse users. I recently talked with Mercules about spreading this a bit because so few people are aware about how it works.

Some friendly reminders/suggestions for people who want Bottom Dollar but don’t play a lot of Gambit

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 01:40 PM PST

Look, I get it. New 120 hand cannon. I own Steady Hand and have been killed by it more times than I can count. It's good. I'm sure this one is also really good. However, there are a few things I wanted to raise that doesn't hurt to be reminded of when it comes to Gambit, as well as a few tips of my own.

    1. There is no shame in turning tail and running if you're afraid of dying with your motes. The enemies in this hybrid regular/Prime Gambit HURT and I'm not going to sugarcoat that. The priority in the first major part is to get as many motes in the bank as possible, so if you're afraid you might kick the bucket, especially if you have a lot (like 10+), please run/hide or whatever you need to do. Just abdicate and find a place to regroup and heal up. Helps with getting things like Killmonger and Thrillmonger too.

    2. Birds of a feather stick together. Stay with your teammates. You'll be able to clear enemies more efficiently, and your survivability will go up. Gambit is as much about working with your teammates as it is looking out for yourself. This generally works for both enemies and Invaders (although if you're in mote phase and have no motes, feel free to knock yourself out and waste the Invader's time).

    3. Please don't assume that someone else is going to get rid of the blockers. This is an issue that I encounter a lot and it has resulted with people in a lot of scenarios where they're stuck wrangling with a lot of Taken and get overwhelmed. Not to mention in those scenarios, you can usually say goodbye to all the motes you've banked thus far. Just assume that no one else is going to do it and go as if you're going to do it yourself. It'll, again, make things go a lot faster and will decrease the likelihood of you and your teammates dying.

    4. Don't hog the invasion portal. If you've gone once or twice and it did not go well, let someone else invade if they're looking to go. There is a medal for everyone on your team going to invade at least once (Taking Turns), so doing as the medal's title suggests will make people on the other team become less used to your tactics and be forced to reckon with a new person. If no one else seems willing to go, however, just go wild and use the portal. Play it by ear. The invasion portal will only open four times total before the Primeval is summoned, which means your team needs to make the most of the chances you have.

    5. If you have motes when an Invader comes, get behind something. Same goes for if your team has your Primeval. A lot of Invaders like sniper rifles. Yes, they can always see where you are, but if you're behind something solid, guess what? They won't be able to hit you, and a good portion of them are not going to try to find another vantage point. Force them to come within range of you and your teammates (especially if they don't have motes) and then show them the business.

    6. The Taken Spec mod is all-around useful if you have it, and so is the Vorpal Weapon perk. For those of you who don't know, Taken Spec is a mod that is obtainable from the Last Wish raid, and generally speaking you can get to the first secret chest without doing any encounters. Unlike most of the other mods from the raid, this one will actually work outside of Last Wish, and makes dealing with any of the Taken you encounter during Gambit a lot easier. Vorpal Weapon is also excellent—it'll work on any boss class enemy, which includes the Envoys, Primevals and Large Blockers.

    7. Bank your goddamn motes. This one is self-explanatory. Especially if you have enough to pull a primeval—do what the Drifter says and bank. If you have enough to top it off, just do it. You don't need 15 motes, a blocker is still a blocker regardless of size, and enough of those will still cause the opponent's bank to drain. Also if you run around with 15 motes for too long, the Drifter WILL yell at you. You have plenty of reminders to do it.

    8. Dying to non-player enemies a lot? Try adding to your mobility. Resilience is, unfortunately, not the greatest stat to add to unless you're a titan. But even then, sometimes escaping is your best defense. Enemies like Vex, Cabal and even Scorn do not have the best movement within a small space, so sometimes its best to just outrun them.

    9. Don't immediately blow your heavy and Supers on the Primeval when its summoned (thanks to Krism_47 for this one). Destroy the Envoys first and start getting your Primeval Slayer buff stacks. That'll make your attacks way more effective! For supers, x4 is a good enough stack for premium damage.

    10. For up close and personal Supers, the armor is NOT enough to prevent the Primeval from killing you (Thanks again to Krism_47). For these, use your Super for invading and clearing out mobs. If you have farther away one-shot Supers, save those for the Primeval.

    11. Just a few more recommendations in terms of gear. Unsure of what to bring in or what mods to use? Allow me to suggest a few things:

-Sunshot, Ticuu's Divination (as suggested by DoxTKX) or Graviton Lance: Explosions are good for ad clear. Especially if those explosions cause more explosions. Otherwise go with guns you are comfortable with within a PVE setting.

-Deafening Whisper: Large hitbox, and after a certain point during the Primeval phase this bad boy will one-shot Envoys.

-Reactive Pulse: This is an Arc Charged With Light mod. It activates if you are damaged within the vicinity of at least 2 enemies and will release an arc pulse upon the damage being received. This pulse is surprisingly strong, as it will clear out most basic mooks. If you pair it with another Arc mod, you'll also gain an overshield when you finisher an enemy. Both of these perks have saved my hide more times than I can count, and I will always fervently recommend it not just within Gambit, but in almost all PVE activities generally.

-Warmind Cells: If you have them, use them. Again, this is an ad clear thing, and if you have Grasp of the Warmind, sticking these things to enemies is not a bad thing either.

But that's just about all I have. I hope these are at least useful to a few people.

    Sincerely,

    A frustrated frequent Gambit player

Trials has more issues than any other aspect of this game and you have done almost NOTHING over the last year!

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 11:59 AM PST

The reward structure is still questionable.

Most of the REGULAR gear is completely inaccessible to the casual player base. Here's why:

20 tokens to rank up, but I get only 1 per win? Bounties can only give me 5? That seems unreasonable.

I get match made against people who are insanely high above my skill level but have the same progress on their card.

But you graceously allow me to have the 3-win reward from a single NON-REPEATABLE bounty so it's actually perfectly fine.

Edit (PLEASE READ): I apologize for the sarcasm and the strong wording in the title. I know the people who work on this game give it their all. I really do. To be honest, I LOVE where the game is and where it's headed. I just wish that Trials was as enjoyable as we all want it to be.

Please, please, please, do not mistake my intentions. I'm not merely trying to bash Bungie.

Just a reminder that if a Warlock is casting Chaos Reach and gets frozen, they can’t break out via button press.

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 01:57 AM PST

They fall to the ground, but they can't use the break out function due to them probably not being considered grounded by the game, so they can only wait for thaw out, which takes even longer for some reason btw. Might not be significant in most matches, but really relevant and annoying in Mayhem.

Bungie pls fix, for us Warlocks that want to play the game in Mayhem.

Edit: I didn't say anything explicitly to exclude the other classes that also encounter this problem, but since some people already misunderstood, I am now aware that some other classes' supers also have this problem. I just didn't know because I only play warlock.

Edit 2: Please for the love of all that is nice, look at edit 1 before you comment. Thanks.

It would be a nice QOL change to include a cryptarch at the H.E.L.M.

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 06:38 AM PST

I understand needing to keep specific vendors at the tower (zavala, shaxx, driftor, banshee), however it is just annoying to have to fly back and forth just to decode a couple engrams. We have access to post master and storage in the H.E.L.M., so why not another cryptarch?

Edit: A good idea im seeing repeated a couple times would be a cryptarch kiosk to avoid having to add in voice lines and such. This would be a great idea and i think would be easy enough to implement. The only trick would be figuring out the double markers that would be on rahool and the kiosk.

Still waiting for Charge Time masterworks to be straight up removed on Fusion Rifles.

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 06:24 AM PST

Heyo, it's your general reminder post about the only masterwork that worsens a weapon's use entirely, which has been brought up since its introduction as a MW roll.

The charge masterwork lowers the charge time by a negligible time in-game (in terms of frames of charge animation it's a couple at most) whilst reducing the damage by a not-so negligible amount - with a high impact frame this can make a shot take an entire additional bolt from your shot to need a kill a guardian (I think it was with a high impact FR for frame of reference). Draw time on bows doesn't reduce accuracy or impact for a comparison of a weapon that 'speeds up its usage' because of its masterwork, or equally, Swords don't become slower to swing because of their impact masterwork. I'm under the impression that it's somewhere in the coding or damage formulas that there's an inverse relationship to charge time and damage with linear/fusion rifles, so instead of having to rework that I would honestly prefer the masterwork to just go completely, I may be wrong with this however so apologies if I am!

Regardless, no investment of materials should be rewarded with an overall worse gun.

Edit: The main point is honestly my last statement, no masterwork and investment of materials should lower damage output, if they managed a way so that it kept the impact but CT lessened that'd be fine! I really don't think the benefits of CT are super useful in PvP or PvE since it's all tied to the frames of animation from what I last looked into (and reduction in said frames are so low that it is the last bits of masterwork that you actually get a tiniest difference), but if I'm mistaken please say! All I know is that CT and Impact are inversely linked and always have been, hence the reduction in damage and presumable why it might be a pain to undo from a coding(?) standpoint on Bungie's end.

I think we can be more creative with Xur and his influence over exotic items.

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 10:06 AM PST

I used to visit the guy every week in Destiny 1 and I think he's one of the most criminally underused "events" in the current game.

Currently, we are farming lost sectors for exotic drops. It's incredibly fun, even if the chests are not always guaranteed to drop what you're here for. I say we bring back strange coins and bring out a variety of things to "tune" the Three of Coin.

For example, a Three of Coin that strengthens the chance of an exotic from a lost sector chest.

A "Four of Stars" (idk get creative with other item names) that buffs the timer during a lost sector to allow weaker guardians more time to make it to the end.

A Three of Coin that adds a second chest pull to the end of the lost sector.

    Things like that!

Think of all the strange coins people would be farming for just for a chance to make their incredible lost sector runs just that more awesome!

Has anyone in bungie actually played Trials?

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 03:11 PM PST

I have 1000 hours in PvP, I tracked over a 2K/D last season between control/IB/comp (not farmed at all) but very very little experience of trials and spent today in various fireteams, some good some not so good and the overwhelming experience was one of rage anger and thinking to myself why the hell am I doing this?.

Firstly just power level. It's nothing but gatekeeping from content at this point in the franchise. The sheer amount of 1300+ was astonishing.

Stasis. Do I need say more? I'd wager a good 75% of my deaths were due to being slowed. Pissing in the wind is what it's like firing when slowed. Not only that the duskfield grenade pulls from about 10m away and then you get aped with a felwinters.

It was a wholly demoralising experience. I got a good gun out of it for the 3 wins, but I can't make trials and I'm in the top 5% what sort of chance does anyone have?

Also be interesting to see what percentage of the trials population just jumped off the edge.

Power Leveling needs a complete overhaul

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 03:12 AM PST

Power Level is such a boring system that's only there to serve an artificial grind at the beginning of every season to make it seem like there is more to do than there actually is. I hate having my power reset every few months just to do the same activities over and over again to get back to where I was the season before.

I understand that it was originally designed to give the player an impression of progress and power fantasy and it used to be working as intended, but with so many resets that have happened since it first released it has become nothing more than an annoying and joyless chore that always takes away a major part of my excitement for new seasons.

As a short term solution we should only get a major power increase with the big expansions once per year (100-200 levels) and only minor increases or none at all with seasons (0-20 levels).

The long term solution should be to give Power Level in general a complete overhaul.

    • More diverse ways of acquiring it
    • More meaningful impact in the game
    • More noticeable progression
    • Less unnecessary gatekeeping

Difficulty should never rely purely on Power Level, but more on mechanical complexity and/or enemy density. Being 1-shot by trash enemies doesn't feel difficult, it just feels stupid and frustrating (GMs...).

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 02:33 PM PST

I dont understand why we cant repeatedly pick up the quest for forsaken. We are still expected to pay for it and I personally loved it for getting screenshots it cutscenes. It's stupid that now the heroic missions playlist is gone so is our ability to redo missions and rewatch cutscenes. Just add back in the quest at that quest place in the tower and make it an infinite repeating quest so we can restart whenever.
