    Trials of Osiris is LIVE

This thread is for all general discussion, questions, thoughts, musings, wonderings, etc. for the Trials of Osiris.

    FAQ

    What is Trials of Osiris?

    • Trials of Osiris is the pinnacle PvP activity. Every Weekend, the best players compete in 3v3 Elimination for one goal: Go Flawless.

    • To start, head to Saint-14 in the Tower Hangar and buy one of the possible passages (see below).

    • To reach Flawless and get to the Lighthouse, you need to win 7 matches without losing one.

    • It uses Win Based Matchmaking, which means you'll face teams with a similar amount of wins on their card. Matches will get harder as you win more matches.

    • There is NO fireteam matchmaking. You need to team up yourself!

    • Power Level matters, however bonus power from the artifact is not enabled.

How Long do the Trials of Osiris last?

    • Event Starts: Every Friday at Daily Reset (1700 UTC).

    • Event Ends: Following Tuesday at Weekly Reset (1700 UTC).

Where do I go to find Guardians to compete with in the Trials?

    • You can head over to /r/Fireteams, www.The100.io, Xbox LFG system, DestinyLFG.net or DestinyLFG.com, or go to the Bungie.net recruitment forum (also available through the Bungie App).

What if I have a question about another piece of armor/weapon or general Trials question?

    • Use Control + F (Or Command + F if on a Mac) and search for keywords in your question. Someone may have asked it already. If they haven't ask right below.

Surrounded spec has been bugged since Beyond Light dropped

    Posted: 26 Mar 2021 02:44 PM PDT

I made a post about it a while back, but it got no traction. I did some recent testing and confirmed that the mod still doesn't work. It worked before Beyond Light, but I suspect since not many people care about the mod, it's not gotten any attention. Hopefully this post brings it to bungie's attention and at least gets it on their to do list lol.

Surrounded Spec boosts the effect of the titular perk on weapons, boosting the damage bonus it gives and allowing said bonus to linger for a few moments even once the user is no longer surrounded.

However, currently it does none of this. The results I got from my testing (in a lost sector, with the same weapon, just removing the mod) are as follows:

Baseline (no perk activated): standard damage, no changes

No mod: damage boost, disappears once no longer surrounded

Mod: standard damage, even with buff active. Disappears once no longer surrounded.

Pre-beyond light, the perk and mod functioned as normal

TLDR: Surrounded spec has been nonfunctional since beyond light released. It provides none of the bonuses it says it does, and appears to negate the perk entirely when slotted.

You can "roll" Exotic engrams (from lost sectors) into any Armor type you want without worrying about sector rotations.

    Posted: 26 Mar 2021 09:41 AM PDT

    Video Explanation ---> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWGHZweV2G4

EDIT - Just for clarification "Exotic Engrams" are actual exotics when they go to your postmaster. "Encrypted engram" is NOT an exotic but just an enhancement core in disguise, you can freely just delete this for 5 shards and keep your inventory full for more exotics

    Text version

Simply put, the system around exotics dropping is revolved around rotating days on what sector it is and what armor type it is and some days, the exotic you want to farm is in a "bad" lost sector that you don't like. With this strat you do not have to worry about that, you don't even have to wait for that armor piece to roll around in rotation for you to stock up on engrams.

How it works -- For whatever reason, when you turn your lost sector drop into an exotic engram rather than a straight up drop, the game counts it as a MASTER exotic drop when it goes to the post master, with this in mind you can do the following

    1) You need a full engram inventory (10)

    2) You farm ANY of the daily legend/master lost sectors and have your exotic engram go to post master (NOTE - encrypted engrams don't count, those are just enhancement cores)

    3) Once in the post master, Wait until the master lost sector rotates around to the armor piece you are seeking. For example, You farmed 10 exotic engrams from Veles Labirynth which was exotic boots for the master that day, but you wanted exotic Arms. Wait until the following day when ARMS become the master lost sector, that is when you turn in your engram from the post master and viola, it will turn into exotic arms instead of boots.

In case people are unaware, this is the rotation for lost sector planets and armor pieces.

    Europa > Cosmodrome > Moon

Europa (Concealed void > Bunker E15 > Perdition

Cosmo (Exodus Garden 2A > Veles Labyrinth)

    Moon (K1 Logistics > K1 Communion > K1 Crew Quarters > K1 Reveleations)

Armor types rotate as follows on a daily rotation

    Boots (Master) + Arms (Legend)

    Arms (Master) + Chest (Legend)

    Chest (Master) + Head (Legend)

    Head (Master) + Boots (Legend)

With this knowledge you can essentially farm any of the lost sectors you want, on any difficulty you want, stack the exotic engrams in your postmaster and wait until the day your preferred armor type is the master reward for the day and open them up and play the lotto.

NOTE - This does not make you target ONE specific armor piece, just the armor TYPE. In other words you can't just farm 20 stompees BUT you can stack up say, 10 exotics in your post and they will all turn into boots.

EDIT - Yes I do guides for various PvE stuff wasn't the first and it won't be the last even if some people hate me for "leaking their secrets"

    :)

Add Rampage/Onslaught to Shadow Price perk pool

    Posted: 26 Mar 2021 06:43 AM PDT

Old Pinnacle perks (like Desperado on messenger) is a great way to make Endgame activity weapons more viable. Shadowprice def needs some love atm to be even considered viable.

"My Pinnacle drops are bugged! They aren't helping me level!" They're not bugged. Here is a quick explainer on the way Pinnacle drops work since this question comes up a lot, including advice on efficiently leveling with Pinnacles.

    Posted: 26 Mar 2021 11:51 AM PDT

I've seen this sentiment a lot, and see a lot of confusion over how Pinnacle leveling works, so I'm here for a quick explainer and to help you best level to the Pinnacle cap.

For those unaware, this season has a Powerful cap of 1300. Once you hit 1300, you can only progress up to the season Pinnacle cap of 1310 with Pinnacle drops. This is ignoring the artifact power bonuses; we're only talking about gear levels.

So how do Pinnacle drops work? There are +1 and +2 drops: +1 drops are in the three ritual playlists (complete 3 Crucible matches, 3 Gambit matches, 3 strikes with the matching subclass) EDIT: and Hawthorne Clan XP reward, and +2 drops are everything else. These drops are guaranteed to be 1 or 2 higher than your base power level. This has nothing to do with your current highest level item in a particular slot.

I'm going to use my character as an example. My current base power level is exactly 1306, broken down as follows:

    • Kinetic: 1307
    • Energy: 1304
    • Power: 1306
    • Head: 1307
    • Arms: 1305
    • Chest 1307
    • Legs: 1305
    • Class: 1307

If I complete a Pinnacle activity, the drop will be +1 or +2 based off my base power level of 1306. So, if RNG gives me a +1 drop in my Kinetic, Head, Chest, or Class slot, guess what? It does absolutely nothing for me because it will be 1306+1= 1307 drop, and all of those slots are already at 1307! This is where it may feel like something is bugged, but RNG is involved with the slot that drops. If I get a +2 drop in my energy slot, that's going to feel great because I'll go from that slot being 1304 to 1308.

So, what can I do to be more efficient with leveling and chasing Pinnacle gear? For that, consult https://destinyoptimizer.com. It will pull in your details, including what Pinnacle and Powerful activities you have yet to complete for the week, and make a statistical-based recommendation on what activities to prioritize to be able to have the best chance possible to not "waste" a Pinnacle drop by getting a drop in a slot that doesn't help you. Sometimes it may make sense to pursue Powerful gear that can help bring up a lagging slot before tackling Pinnacle activities.

There's another conversation to be had about RNG playing such a big role in leveling with Pinnacles as a string of bad luck with getting multiple drops in the same slot hurts, but I wanted to lay out how the system works to help clear up any confusion people may have over what we currently have to work with. I personally think there should be some sort of bad luck protection or slot-focusing, but we don't currently have such a system.

The Crucible Experience for brand new players is prohibitive, unwelcoming, and feels bad.

    Posted: 26 Mar 2021 03:23 PM PDT

I recently introduced a friend of mine to the game and while they've been enjoying the exploration and the gear, part of the new light process is playing crucible. I'm Unbroken so I'm used to crucible being sweaty, but I watched my friend play their first rumble match ever (which is required for the quest) and get farmed by a gilded Flawless player. Not a single shot in, not a single kill. I understand that pvp will always be more challenging for new players but that matchup should not ever, ever happen in my opinion. Someone with thousands of hours shouldn't be playing singles against someone with less than 10 hrs on their account and it results in a bad experience for the new player.

I know that some level of this is inevitable. But for brand new, 0.01 k/d players that's rough.

I finally did solo flawless Prophecy!

    Posted: 26 Mar 2021 06:54 PM PDT

Here's proof, honestly never thought I'll manage to pull this one of after countless bugs that stopped my previous attempts. I'm so happy it's finally done! I did solo flawless Shattered Throne a few weeks ago, but Prophecy's imo so much harder.

If anyone's curious, my loadout was Witherhoard, Ikelos SMG and Guillotine for Phalanx Echo, Long Shadow, Ikelos SMG and Xenophage for the wasteland and the hexahedron and finally Witherhoard, Ikelos SMG and Shining Sphere with auto loading holster for Kell Echo (also for the damage phase I switched Ikelos SMG for Far Future with auto loading holster to have less trouble with hobgoblins). 100 recovery and discipline, 50 intellect, 40 strength, full Warmind Cells build (Wrath of Rasputin, Rage of the Warmind, Warmind's Protection, Power of Rasputin and Global Reach) and Synthoceps as an exotic because why not (switched for Lion Rampant for the spaghetti part though). Solar bottom tree as partially seen on the screenshot. I fucked up the first damage phase on Kell Echo as I got teleported once and sometimes special ammo for the sniper rifle didn't want to drop, that's why it took so long.

Why is it that only Stasis subclasses are able to increase your base stats?

    Posted: 26 Mar 2021 07:53 AM PDT

With the introduction of Fragments, it should be fair to assume that also the Light subclasses would be able to have stat increase options. Which still isn't the case.

Like seriously. Just running Stasis gives the opportunity to have double 100 stats.

Dying instantly in Gambit from ads that have explosive weapons

    Posted: 26 Mar 2021 07:00 AM PDT

I've noticed over the past 3-4 weeks that while playing Gambit I'm immediately getting killed by ads. To clarify, this isn't a question of being too weak, overextending and getting cutdown as a result or anything along those lines. When dying you'll usually go from about 2/3 of health+shields to instantly dead. As in, there's no transition from taking damage, to your shields popping and then finally dying. You literally go from 2/3 health+shields to dead within a few frames.
I've found that it's normally the result of certain ads hitting you with explosive weaponry such as Hydras (in fact it's mostly Hydras), Minotaur's and I think some Cabal/Scorn however the main offenders here are the Vex by a large margin. I'm just wondering if anyone else has noticed this or if it's a known bug as it's incredibly frustrating when it happens so any insight would be appreciated.

EoT is doing STILL doing LESS DAMAGE than it should

    Posted: 26 Mar 2021 12:35 PM PDT

I want to start this off by adressing what was changed with the most recent patch (yes it increased EoT damage but there is another glaring issue with it)

(all numbers are without the buff, and account for the damage of only one of the six projectiles EoT fires)

Pre patch 3.1.1.1 (recent patch) Eot was doing to Carl (Ehroar test dummy):

    *13,563*

Image proof (kinda rough to see):

    https://imgur.com/a/cDAwkQD

After the patch its damage to Carl is:

    *19,385*

    Image proof: https://imgur.com/a/BjmDA4F

This equals to a buff of 43% to eot, that is great, and elevates the weapon a lot compares to its previous version in Season of the chosen... the issue is, the weapon is STILL doing less damage that what it should be doing

    allow me to explain

When season of the chosen released the floor of the game was raised by 50 Light, this means that Lost sectors like the one Carl is at will suffer from a inflation in numbers *NOTE: This does not mean weapons do more damage or were buffed, it simply means it shows bigger numbers, to account for the new health bars on enemies*

The question now becomes, if we want to compare previous registered weapon damage in BL to the neew standard what should we do

ehroar gave us this answer very early in the season when he tested an ikelos smg pre and post patch

    Footage: https://imgur.com/a/k4ti3Tz

This basically results in us needing to multiply the damage of any previous number from BL by 1,448 to know exactly how EoT damage Should be (with none of the initial Season of the Chosen related buffs to all rockets)

Now Lets go back to Season of the Hunt to see how EoT compares...

Lets me just say that... after seing these numbers... the issue with EoT becomes clear IMO

These are the non buff numbers of EoT during BL:

    *20,184*

    Image proof: https://imgur.com/a/j381LmK

    Now aplying the 1,448 multiplier

    Eot SHOULD RN Be doing:

    *29,226*

    ...

The current damage of EoT is numerically worse, than the damage it did In BL, in other words, EoT is doing around 33,6% less damage than it shuld be doing ATM, Not only that But that is ignoring any buff EoT was supposed to be getting in the beggining of the season.

Something is Defo broken With the EoT buff

The only conclusion I Can give is

    1. EoT is still fucked with regards to mini-boss (Carl) damage, dealing 33,6% less dmg than what it should be doing had it NOT RECIEVED any of the initial Season 13 Buff
    2. Whatever Buff Bungie was planning to give AoT, it simply did not ship with S13, in other words, EoT was not buffed against bosses, BUT there is a small 1,6% nerf might have sliped under the devs noses, according to one of ehroars video post s13...

Now that Stasis is nerfed, Hunters; don't forget about Athrys's Embrace

    Posted: 26 Mar 2021 01:45 PM PDT

It's one of my favorite ways to roll Hunter in PvP right now because it's just so damn fun.

Your Weighted Knife does a ton more damage if you get enough head shots, and it bounces an extra time. Plus, that last bounce seems like it's a heat-seeking missile. It WILL find an enemy and go stabby-stabby if it can.

Pair it with a primary that wants lots of crits anyway, like a Pulse Rifle or Auto Rifle (Vigilance Wing is actually doing well in this meta, also Monte Carlo is still quite good--I think the key is both weapons flinch the enemy a lot, which can mess up the aim of those pesky 120 rpm hand cannon users).

I can't tell you how many times I get some crits on an enemy who runs into cover, then I can just throw my knife at the floor, it bounces and hits the wall, then fukken YEETS itself over to the enemy and finishes them off. (Or just some completely separate, unlucky soul, who eats a 258 damage knife body shot.)

I'm not normally the kind of guy who emotes after a kill but dammit, the desire to do so is real after someone is around a corner and then a sentient murder-knife just Captain Americas its way into their thorax out of nowhere. I can only imagine their confusion, seeing a body shot knife in the killcam as the reason they died. Thrown by some asshole around a corner.

ANY time I have its damage buff activated (again, not hard if you're using a weapon that fires lots of bullets) I can toss it at the environment around a group of enemies for a potential 'free kill.' If I miss, eh, my Dodge can refill the cooldown whenever an enemy is near me.

Don't forget, you don't even need to do this bouncing method. With the buff active it's a OHKO to the body so you can toss it right at people aggressing your position, knowing that even if you miss the head, they're dead if it lands at all. (Hell sometimes you miss, and it goes ting, ting SHANK to someone else entirely who God hates today.)

Every single time I chuck a knife and see a kill pop up an entire 3 seconds later I can't help but laugh. It's SO fun, actually quite competitive, and no worse than freezing people all over the place so I don't even feel that evil.

Light subclasses are much more viable now than before the Stasis nerfs, give Athrys's Embrace a try if you haven't. For a better look at how to use it, you can check out CoolGuys's video on it from last season. With all the Stasis around I didn't use it, but now I am, and it's addicting. And it's even great in PvE!

This season was really good keep it going.

    Posted: 26 Mar 2021 08:02 AM PDT

    Things I loved:
    - 7 weeks of episodic storytelling.
    - weekly challenges that mixed up my playstyle and routine
    - animated comic book like cutscenes.
    - enemy density in battlegrounds helped me test new builds.
    - new exotics that are fun.
    -The Glycon.

Things I liked: - vendors actually having something rewarding every rank
    - playlist exclusive drops
    - umbral engrams feeling rare.
    - best pvp primary gun play and feel.
    - stasis getting reigned in.

Things I hated: - less earnable bright dust.
    - power grind
    - grandmaster content so late in season.
    - seasonal lore not reflected anywhere in universe other than seasonal areas. A text box from failsafe or devrim commenting on current seasonal developments would be great.
    - playlist exclusive drop rates.
    - trials cancelations.
    - helm not accessible in tower despite being in tower.
    - making umbral engram focusing more confusing, conveluted, and un rewarding.
    - vendor engrams that do not decrypt at light level.
    - Gambit is still either stomp or get stomped not fun.
    - Crucible special weapon ammo economy, lack of pvp maps and game modes, no incentive to play comp
    - Osiris is at the tower... No one cares

Dead Man's Tale is how you make me want to hipfire on mouse and keyboard. The Last Word is not.

    Posted: 26 Mar 2021 03:41 PM PDT

Before I get into this post, I just wanna say that I get it. TLW is strong on console and used to be pretty OP on PC before the changes. I know. Nobody, not even me, wants it to go back to that level of stupidity and crazy low ease of use. But I feel like there has to be a better way to make TLW competitive on mouse and keyboard.

What I'd like to see happen is that Bungie just let's us aim down sights without a damage penalty. As it stands, TLW had its range brought down, its bodyshot damage brought down, and its stability got nerfed. Hitting 4 to the body for a kill at 25m isn't possible anymore and hitting 3 to the head for that crispy 0.67 would actually be a lot harder that it used to given the recoil change to TLW itself as well as the PC-wide recoil changes. Taking all this into account, I don't see why we can't just ads with TLW again. It would absolutely be the easiest way to make the gun viable again on PC.

If Bungie is going to refuse to do that and are just totally dead set on making the gun a hipfire only type thing, then they should look into making the hit detection work like it does for Dead Man's Tale. I don't understand how they can have one weapon that feels like I'm shooting blanks all day and another weapon that feel almost exactly like it should. Like how can you get it so right and so wrong at the same time?

Regardless of what's done, I'm curious what you all think of this idea. And if anyone from Bungie can chime with their thoughts (or even a technical explination for why it's out of the question) that'd be amazing. As awesome as Dead Man's is, and it's REALLY awesome, it just makes me miss the OG sometimes...

With #ThankYouEpicGames trending, I think we should all remember to thank Bungie.

    Posted: 26 Mar 2021 08:21 AM PDT

Regardless of the mistakes and complaints, Bungie has delivered a fantastic game over the years... They've given us fond memories, countless hours of entertainment, and a place to forget the world (not to mention the friendships).

Speaking for myself, I know Destiny has helped me through the last year considering lockdown, so thanks Bungie. Appreciate ya.

Edit: some people seem to be offended at the suggestion that we thank Bungie for their work and creativity. If you feel they your money is enough thanks, that's absolutely okay by me.

With the new matchmaking Iron banner matches feel harder but i am getting fairer games.

    Posted: 26 Mar 2021 06:45 AM PDT

I played about 20-25 matches of iron banner yesterday and the overall theme of matches felt harder as if the overall enemy team was much harder. However i came out winning more matches because my teammates weren't actually that bad. This obviously needs a lot of work but so far i think it's a step in the right direction.

This loadout allows us to stagger unstoppable with outbreak and lay huge damage on champions, while the scouts were 1 of each element and had anti barrier, mostly only need void and solar. Come boss room we would send him to his perch clean up the trash mobs and all proceed to spam our grenades through the floor of the perch. Voidlock had contraverse holds, hunter had ability regen from heart of the pack or invis or something not sure, and solarlock had benevolent dawn from dropping rifts to get his grenade back. Super consistent runs just have to shoot the same targets to stack outbreak damage buffs, and if you have access to disruption break for antibarriers for the love of God use it its +50% kinetic damage which gets ridiculous with a team full of outbreaks.

Clearing the Grandmaster nightfalls have become my favorite thing in destiny!

    Posted: 26 Mar 2021 10:16 AM PDT

It's been a while since I got the rush of clearing something in D2 like I did when I cleared the heroic kings fall in D1.

It took us about 3-4 tries before we got our run down to clear it in about 20 mins each run.

The challenge and the amount of rewards is so satisfying for end game content. At this point I would say clearing a grandmaster is a better feeling than clearing the raid.

The rush you get from having the boss being one shot and trying to get the shot in through all the enemies is a hell of a rush.

Even when we failed to kill the boss it wasn't upsetting , just getting that close to killing him felt good. It had us actually pay attention to our load outs and mods. We ended up forgetting to put on the sniper resistance mod which allowed us to tank a single boss shot.

If you're 1325, do yourself a favor and try the grandmasters out!

Want to add a bit of fun and chaos to Iron Banana?

One word: Divinity. Most fun I've had in pvp in a long time. You can almost feel the panic as the bubble surrounds them. Also a top way to complete your assist bounty.

Slow abilities shouldn't be pocket tethers

    Posted: 26 Mar 2021 04:33 PM PDT

Honestly wouldn't mind being slowed every time I breathe if it just slowed movement and restricted dodging, but having it affect accuracy and handling is just overkill. The current way slow works leaves no room for the target to kill the one who slows them unless they have a shotgun and even if they do, good luck switching to it in time. The slow ability shouldn't guarantee free kills, no other grenade prevents you from counter play. Slow abilities are basically pocket tethers.
