We want to start this TWAB off by speaking about the tragic events from earlier this week. The violence against the Asian American community in Atlanta wasn't an isolated event. Hate crimes against Asian Americans have recently surged across major cities in the US over the last year.

Everyone at Bungie stands with the Asian community during this difficult time and our hearts go out to the victims of this senseless act and their families. One of our goals is to continue to build communities around our games where everyone feels safe to be who they are and free to build friendships without the fear of hate or discrimination.

Please join us in making a donation to aid efforts that provide support and advocacy to those in need. To donate, support, and learn more on how you can help visit: imreadymovement.org

Thank you for supporting our AAPI families and friends. Enjoy the TWAB.

This week at Bungie, the Grandmasters have begun.

The most challenging difficulty of Nightfalls premiered this week as Grandmasters kicked off with a trip into the Devil's Lair. Battle your way through champions to once against face a familiar foe in Sepiks Prime. As it's Nightfall week, crank that music up to 11. If loot is at the front of your mind, your first taste of PvE Adept weaponry is available. We've been seeing numerous Guardians showing off their Adept S.W.A.R.M. Machine Guns and discovering a fancy new mod: Adept Big Ones.

Not into Grandmasters? That's fine, we've still got several activities lined up across the game for whatever you're in the mood for. If you're looking for a different flavor of chaos, Mayhem is on its way next week. If that's not your style we have a yet another Crucible option coming up.

    Iron Bananners

Lord Saladin has played a pivotal role this Season with some strong opinions on how to deal with the ongoing threats to the Vanguard. But even as battles wage through the system, the Iron Banner competition must go on.

    Iron Banner and bonus Valor

10 AM on March 23 through 10 AM on March 30

The Iron Lord will arrive next week with more bounties in tow and a slew of weapons to earn. If you need some quick boosts to your Power or to fill out some missing slots with pinnacle rewards, Iron Banner is a great place to get them. Go in with a full fireteam or queue in the solo node and face off against six other random opponents with five random allies. However you choose to play or whatever weapons you choose to bring, remember to control those zones! Also, throw grenades; it's not just a Mayhem thing.

    Clear Eyes of Tomorrow

    Image Linkimgur

We have received reports that Eyes of Tomorrow was doing less damage on bosses after update 3.1.0. We acknowledged that there was no intended damage reduction and started investigating a fix. We discovered there was a modifier incorrectly placed on the weapon that was reducing its damage to "miniboss" combatants like the bosses you find in a Lost Sector. We have a fix ready in Hotfix 3.1.1.1 which is currently scheduled for March 30.

There were reports that this was also affecting damage against raid bosses, but our internal test teams were unable to reproduce this and didn't find any changes to the damage outputs against big baddies like "Shaniks" while using several different combinations of buffs and debuffs.

We appreciate all of the reports on this issue that lead to this fix, but that's not all. There is other chatter in the air about this highly coveted launcher of many rockets.

    Drop Rate Change

We've also seen a lot of feedback that The Eyes of Tomorrow is not dropping for many players despite numerous clears on multiple characters. We've been digging into this and discovered that bad luck protection was mistakenly being applied on a per-character basis instead of across the entire account.

Want the tl:dr? We got you. In upcoming hotfix 3.1.1.1 we've collapsed all of your account raid completions into a single value so bad luck protection applies properly no matter which characters you run the raid on. This applies retroactively -- so if you still haven't gotten a drop yet you will have the corrected drop chance after the fix goes live depending on how much raiding you have already done.

Do you like getting into the weeds of making video games? Then keep reading... The original design intent of bad luck protection for Eyes of Tomorrow was to increase your chances of obtaining it with each weekly clear on your account, eventually reaching a 100 percent guaranteed drop if RNG had been particularly unkind to you. The goal was to reward folks for raiding consistently week over week, rather than binging dozens of runs in a single week. Another goal was to ensure single-character players were not at a huge disadvantage, as we didn't want the benefits of bad luck protection to require raiding across three characters.

With those goals in mind, we set it up so that each character has a weekly chance at the Exotic, but the bad luck protection count only "accumulates" once per week across the entire account. This meant that players raiding on three characters have three times as many chances at the Exotic, but that the increase in drop chance only increases once each week and applies equally to everyone who runs the raid, regardless of if you are running one character or three.

However, we mistakenly applied this protection to a system that only stores data on a per-character basis. That resulted in each character having individual protection counts. That would be fine, but only the first character you ran the raid on each week would add to their protection count. Left unfixed, this would have made it take up to three times as long to see the benefits of bad luck protection for people raiding across different characters each week.

In 3.1.1.1 we are combining all raid completions on your account to a single value. This means if you've completed the raid weekly since it launched, you'll now correctly have the max possible completions counted towards your bad luck protection, regardless of which characters you raided on. And moving forward, this protection will accumulate properly regardless of character. For some of you, this will have no effect since you only raid on one character. For others, your bad luck protection count will effectively triple.

So even if you continue to be extremely unlucky -- after this fix the Exotic is guaranteed to drop in the next few months if you have been raiding each week. Happy hunting!

    Rock-'Em Sock-'Em

You ever sit around debating who would win in a fight between characters, celebrities, or community managers? Yea, neither do we. Except today -- when we asked you to let us know who you think would win in a battle to the pain. Who is the baddest baddie? The robotic chicken-like Wvern with their full-on yeet attack or the formidable Taken Captain spamming endless blinding orbs of death?

KNOWN ISSUES LIST #HELP FORUMS BUNGIE HELP TWITTER

Our team of player support experts are hunting down any odd issues and making sure fixes are being tracked and you are in the know on what we know.

    This is their report.

    UPDATE 3.1.1 AND GHOST SHELLS

On Tuesday, we released Update 3.1.1. This update resolved many issues, including:

    • Fixed an issue where some users were missing friends or clan members in their PlayStation 5 roster.
    • Adjusted Riskrunner perk VFX.
    • Reduced Arbalest's aim assist.
    • Fixed multiple Ascendant Challenge Triumphs.

It was discovered that this update caused last year's Guardian Games Ghost Shells to get replaced with another Ghost Shell that would disappear when trying to be equipped. These Ghost Shells are currently disabled until we can resolve this issue in an upcoming update.

    UPDATE 3.1.1.1 NEXT WEEK

Update 3.1.1.1 will go live next Tuesday, March 23, at the weekly reset. Click here for a timeline of the maintenance windows and downtime.

Here is a small list of some of the issue being addressed:

    • Fixed an issue that prevented Scan and Heroic VIP patrols from appearing on Europa.
    • Fixed an issue where the Frozen in Time ornament couldn't be equipped to No Time to Explain.
    • Fixed an issue that caused Eyes of Tomorrow to do less damage than intended against yellow bar enemies.
    • Many Stasis changes.

    TRIALS OF OSIRIS UPDATE

Last Saturday, it was discovered that an issue with match re-joins in the Trials of Osiris playlist that we thought we had fixed earlier in the week didn't fix the issue. With Update 3.1.1, this issue should no longer occur, so Trials is scheduled to start at its regularly scheduled time this week.

    BRIGHT DUST ISSUE RESOLVED

Earlier this week, we sent out missing Bright Dust to players who didn't receive any when completing Vanguard, Crucible, or Gambit Weekly Challenges from February 10 to 23. There was a delay between shipping out the in-game message and sending out the Bright Dust due to the 337K players who qualified, but all missing Bright Dust has now been delivered.

    WEEKLY KNOWN ISSUES

While we continue investigating various known issues, here is a list of the latest issues that were reported to us in our #Help Forum:

    • Previewing Ghost Projections can crash the game if players don't have a Ghost Shell equipped.
    • The fifth feather in the Harbinger mission isn't spawning during week three, and the fourth feather isn't spawning during week two.
    • The Postmaster screen displays an opaque screen when trying to collect you missing items. Players can press the Cancel button or Escape key to remove it.
    • Locus of Communion sometimes teleports around the final area in the Presage mission.
    • Turning on the PS5's 3D Audio can make the Destiny 2 audio sound muffled.
    • Ultra Combatants' health bars are displaying in colors inconsistent to their icons and to other more powerful enemy types in multiple colorblind modes.
    • We're continuing to investigate PC FPS and crashing issues.
    • It's intentional that the Weekly Strike Playlist singe is randomized, meaning that some singes may not appear as often as others.
    • The Insight Terminus Nightfall Triumph isn't counting progress.
    • Random lines appear on Awoken character faces where shadows should be when on the PS5.
    • Heavy ammo spawns under the Distant Shore map.
    • Sola's Scar is translated as "Solar Scar" in Spanish-ES.
    • Guardian Games's class items no longer honor 2020 placements.
    • The Gambit PGCR can't show the second screen of stats.
    • A player's entire stack of Legendary Shards appear to be added to their account when removing/socketing Runes in the Hammer of Proving.

For a full list of emergent issues in Destiny 2, players can review our Known Issues article. Players who observe other issues should report them to our #Help forum.

    Movie?

    Image Linkimgur

Let me tell you about this awesome movie I saw earlier this week. A guy was walking down the street to get some milk and noticed that there was an AMAZING donut shop nearby. He started complaining that he desperately wanted to head in, purchase 50 donuts, and eat them all in a single sitting.

It was a super low budget indie flick written, directed, and starring Dmg. Well, it was actually just Dmg taking the Community Team on a virtual grocery run to buy milk. When he made it to the store, he went with whole milk, which I have to say feels like a bit much. I'm more of a fan of 2%.

[Editor's Note: Whole milk is so much better.]

[Editor's Editor's Note: Dylan, stop editing my TWABs.]

Anyway, welcome to Movie of the Week. This is where we highlight our favorite community created videos for everyone to see. Here are our picks for this week!

The fact that Iron Banner doesn’t have a “Lord” title to pursue is a bummer.

    Posted: 18 Mar 2021 08:16 AM PDT

I mean, we're pretty much Iron Lords after the Rise of Iron expansion in D1.

I would love to chase an Iron Banner title that made me "Lord" Nova Hands. I feel like I've earned that after stopping SIVA!

All Stasis Freezes In PvP Should Last As Long As Coldsnap

    Posted: 18 Mar 2021 09:57 AM PDT

Basically title. Warlock Melee ability and Coldsnap Grenade already freeze for only 1.5 sec before the person auto-breaks out. Why not just do that for all the grenades/melee's? Super freezes and the exotic gl that I forgot the name of are exempt from this rule for obvious reasons. I just feel like this makes sense and would make the player base happy; while keeping Stasis very strong yet not as overbearingly dominant. Just some wishful thoughts.

Sepiks Prime doesn't seem to register as a boss, so Machine Guns don't take the normal boss damage penalty.

    Posted: 18 Mar 2021 10:42 AM PDT

I'd seen this commented elsewhere but hadn't seen a lot about it, so I wasn't sure if it was true. However, I just tested it myself and it definitely seems to be the case.

This video demonstrates the damage: https://youtu.be/8D_djrcH_6Q

As you can see, the precision damage dealt to the Major Captain is exactly the same as the precision damage dealt to the Sepiks.

However, as you can also see, the Machine Gun benefits from both Boss Spec AND Vorpal when dealing damage. No testing for the new Adept Big Ones mod, but it probably works the same way.

I'm guessing that he probably counts as being a vehicle, so both of these bonuses still count despite the game not registering him as being a boss. We know that there have been problems in the past with the game registering certain bosses as vehicles instead of actual bosses, and this is probably why vehicles were included in both Boss Spec and Vorpal in the first place. I would guess that this is a result of their movement being so heavily restricted, as is the case with Sepiks.

Anyway, this means that Machine Guns kind of kick ass against Sepiks, and are a decent choice for the rest of the strike because of their ability to clear adds in a pinch. Since swords aren't really an option for boss DPS this week, MG's can kind of fill a similar role here.

EDIT: u/GameSpawn asked if this was also the case for the Servitor boss from the Exodus Garden 2A lost sector. Here's that test: https://youtu.be/EVoFOmjODYQ

As you can see, the damage IS reduced in this case, and significantly so, compared to the other Majors, while Boss Spec and Vorpal both apply against the boss.

Why are Stability and Handling in the opposite order on Fusion Rifles compared to every other weapon type?

    Posted: 18 Mar 2021 08:27 PM PDT

Normally, on every other weapon type, the stats are listed in this order...

    • Impact
    • Range
    • Stability
    • Handling
    • Reload

But on Fusion Rifles, the Stability and Handling stats are reversed, with Handling being listed first. This has been a thing for as long as I can remember, but I just kept thinking maybe it would get "fixed" at some point. That is, if this is a mistake, I guess. It just seems so weird to me that this one single weapon type has these 2 stats flipped. It happens on all rarities too, so I'm guessing it's just the whole archetype is coded this way. BUT, it's only normal Fusion Rifles, as Linear Fusions are in the "Normal" order like every other weapon.

But.... why? At this point, I can only assume it isn't getting fixed as Bungie are worried that it might allow Telesto to break the game. Again. For the 193 time.

Helpful tip for people grinding the nightfall

    Posted: 18 Mar 2021 11:31 AM PDT

If you are struggling to kill the walker tank you can use wither hoard to destroy it. If you fire it below the stomach of the tank you can hit all the legs at once, and since all the legs take damage separately you deal 1000-2000 damage a tick per leg. Combine this with hitting it directly with wither hoard you can do some incredible damage super fast.

(Edit: I should mention this works with every walker tank ie public events and the hallowed lair strike walker.)

    Surrounded Perk is Bugged

    Posted: 18 Mar 2021 01:22 PM PDT

I posted this the other day but it got zero traction so I figured I'd try again at a different time. Literally copy+paste my first post, hope you guys don't mind.

I was curious about the damage buff that Surrounded gave, so instead of just looking it up I started actually paying attention to the damage I was doing. And then I noticed that it was not consistent in the slightest.

    https://imgur.com/gallery/LtNfgmV

This is both with and without the spec. It's an Ikelos SMG, masterworked stability. These clips are from Xbox gameplay.

Maybe there is a reason behind what's causing the perk to not proc consistently, but I am too smooth brain to understand. I couldn't find much using the ol' Google except some stuff pretty recently about the spec not giving the bonus damage buff or lasting the extra time [which I was not paying attention to and am currently too tired to review these clips more closely or keep testing]. Am I late to the game? I'm gonna feel like a big dumb dummy head if I masterworked this lovely Threat Detector x Surrounded Ikelos if Surrounded has been none to be wonky.

Also, it really sucks the perk isn't working correctly. Now I need to find a new roll on an Ikelos.

To the person who claimed that Tier 3 focusing caused Imperial Needle to glow when perfectly drawn: Not true; the glow seems to be caused by the Draw Time masterwork.

    Posted: 18 Mar 2021 01:20 PM PDT

I'm going to assume this isn't common knowledge, because no one brought it up while immediately accusing the person of being a troll to get people to use 5 hammer charges for the bow(which is dumb, by the way. Were you really going to go out of your way and use 5 hammer charges just for a bow that gives off a brief glow indicating that it's perfectly charged?).

    Tl;dr: Title.

I happen to already have an Imperial Needle that I focused at Tier 3, so I tested one of the claims that u/StrainNew8806 made in this post:

"The Imperial Needle that you get from spending 5 Hammer Charges actually glows when drawing. The "glow" has 2 different stages. First, your arrow will glow indicating it's fully charged, then your entire bow for perfectly drawn."

The first 50 seconds of my video showcase my findings on this. I had an Imperial Needle with only one perk in the final column and the Draw Time masterwork, and I had my T3 focused Imperial Needle with the Reload Speed masterwork. The T3 bow didn't glow as Strain claimed, but the first one did. I test a bunch of other bows in the video- every other Legendary bow I have - and the only one that glowed as Strain described was the one with the Draw Time masterwork.

I think this has to do with something else Strain said in their post: "I am now sure that draw time determines the time it takes to reach perfectly drawn stage, but charge time (a hidden stat) is the time it takes to fully charge the arrow." This is probably meant to give the player a new cue for when the bow is considered perfectly drawn, because it'll be different than usual.

If anyone else has some footage of a bow glowing like in the video without the Draw Time masterwork or of a bow with the Draw Time masterwork not glowing, I'm open to changing this conclusion, but this seems like the reason.

chaos reach doesn't go through banner shield

    Posted: 18 Mar 2021 09:10 PM PDT

    Hello,

I haven't seen anyone talking about this and search function didn't give me any recent results so here it is:

Chaos Reach can't shoot through a friendly banner shield super. I've encountered this problem running GM nightfalls. The problem was reproducible. Warlock was wearing Geomag Stabilizer and Titan was wearing Ursa Furiosa. I've talked to other people and streamers and we are all having the same issue.

Apparently this bug existed before in Destiny but was fixed in Update 2.1.0 on Nov 27, 2018. (Patch Notes 2.1.0) Right now it seems to have reappeared.

Title. For those of us that can grind golf balls, either through GMs or Trials, both of which are considered pinnacle activities, we should be rewarded with the ability to re roll weapons.

Creating a quest for an Iron Lord title.

    Posted: 18 Mar 2021 10:07 PM PDT

I made a short post in the Iron Banner title thread on the front page and enough people seemed to like it. So I decided to make a thread of its own for it. As others, I don't like Destiny's PvP, but I play Iron Banner occasionally because it's chaotic and fun. I agree with those who think it deserves a title and I might even grind for it. The title quest steps would be character based and look like this:

Win 80 matches, get 300 super kills, defeat 1250 oponents, 500 precision final blows, capture 500 zones and defeat 400 opponents during a hunt. All must be done within the same season. Half of this has to be done with a full Iron Banner armor set equipped. Or course, any defeat counts for the 1250 defeats quest step.

Out of Saladin's spite, stasis (or any other new dark subclass) counts for nothing; meaning that results of matches where you have a stasis weapon or subclass equipped do not count for the quest.

Rewards for completing the quest are the title, few thousand blue drops, several hundred tokens, unique exotic ghost, sparrow and ship and Young Wolve's Howl.

But don't ask me how mercies would affect the quest and possibly make it much longer and more irritating than it ever should be. Maybe just let the matches go until they are really over?

We all lauded Devil's Lair when we first played it this season due to the sheer enemy density.

My fireteam and I were somewhat terrified of what this would mean for GM... but it felt like the most fair GM we've done. Maybe not the quickest, but no part of it felt like pulling your own hair out.

Kudos to Bungie for nailing the first ever strike.

Can we talk about Clash as a game mode?

Hello Bungie, fans of the subreddit, etc.

As a declaimer, I'm an above average pvp'er - in no world do I claim to be the best or even top 1%, but it would be disingenuous to claim I'm bad or even a casual. Clash is where I like to take in guns that are off-meta or even new rolls on current meta archetype to test its effectiveness. I have one simple request of you, bungie devs.

Make Clash a permanent playlist. Please.

I know Crucible is not in the best place right now for many people. Stasis is pretty obnoxious, several people dislike the 120 meta, Trials (lol), lack of loot, etc. I get it, I feel the same way. But, as someone who has kept playing Destiny for years because of its pvp, Clash brings me joy in light of it all.

Its a game mode that allows me to go in and casually play (or sweat if the other team really is up to it) and work on my gunplay rather than focusing on the objective. Don't get me wrong, I understand why control is a mainstay for the Destiny franchise and its a fine game mode. But sometimes, I just want to go in and pull the trigger and be mindless about it without having to be in 3's.

Alternative options include, for example, allowing it to rotate weekly with Control. I miss the D1 days where Clash/Control/Rift(!) would rotate in Iron Banner. Or, as you have recently introduced to us via the recent TWABs - consider allowing us, the community, vote on it. I can appreciate that the devs want to make decisions for the game surrounding balance, etc. and make those without our voting per se, but I feel like which pvp playlist are mainstays would be one that is low stakes and would benefit from the voices of those who like pvp the most. I know you take our feedback and I certainly appreciate it. Its why many of us love Bungie as a company.

So please, I implore you, consider adding Clash as a more permanent fixture in the pvp playlist.

    Cheers,

That one guy who farmed 600+ lost sectors.

Weapon names are now band names. What genre or type of music do they each play?

Gnawing Hunger is either a metal band or a band that plays nothing but songs about beef jerky.

Sweet Business is most likely a 80's pop band, while Midnight Coup is most definitely an Emo band.
