    Focused Feedback: Armor Mods

    Posted: 19 Apr 2021 07:13 AM PDT

    Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding 'Armor Mods' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

The real problem with Gambit is the fact that you get 30 Infamy for a loss and you need 15000 to reset your rank.

    Posted: 19 Apr 2021 01:29 PM PDT

Title. Losses make the game so pointless and unrewarding to play and is my main cause of frustration with the gamemode.

There's a site that summarizes previous Destiny plots and could provide New Lights with important backstory that Bungie has neglected to do. Could we spread it around, perhaps?

    Posted: 19 Apr 2021 04:43 AM PDT

    https://www.previouslyondestiny.com/

Honestly, Bungie really dropped the ball on New Lights when it comes to lore. But if we can get this site well known we can spare some of them from wandering around the game in confusion.

Shaxx armour drops are worthless. Stop putting them into rewards

    Posted: 19 Apr 2021 06:37 AM PDT

The armour drops from Shaxx when you level up in the crucible have some of the worst rolls I've seeen. I haven't seen anything over a 58 point at this stage. This means that I have deleted every piece of armour that has dropped. Can we just remove them from the loot pool because you can just buy it anyway.

However, if I want a full armour set I can just buy it from him and most of the time it has better rolls than any of the random drops.

Bungie, if stomp mechanics are never going away, please consider allowing Melee Damage Resistance to also "only" launch us into a low orbit instead of into the next galaxy.

    Posted: 19 Apr 2021 08:20 AM PDT

    Title.

But seriously, it'd be nice if it reduced stomp distance and/or velocity as well. Also, what about it decreasing the total radius at which it triggers a stomp?

Dear Bungie, you have quite some audacity when you tell me that quitting comp matches will prevent me from matchmaking in future ones right after you kick me out of the match before it even starts.

    Posted: 19 Apr 2021 01:24 PM PDT

    Title.

You even gave me an error code. You knew I didn't quit on purpose.

Since this is flagged as Bungie Suggestion... Well I suggest you stop doing this.

    Sincerely.

Edit: just to clarify, I don't have any connectivity issue, my connection has been flawless the whole week (wish I could say the same about my trials card); I can say that because I keep monitoring it day and night; my NAT is as open as a 7-Eleven. It was not an issue on my side. The error code was Eagle, if I saw correctly. I was in a rush since I was trying to rejoin my teammates. One interesting thing is that a player in the other team got kicked as well. To reply to those saying "Bungie is making this so that quitting mid game is punished regardless", I'd like to point out that the title to this post specifically says "kicked before the match even started".

Can I manually delete Twilight Gap and Exodus Blue from my ProgramFiles/Destiny2 folder? I'd rather the game crash trying to load than to enter these two maps.

    Posted: 19 Apr 2021 07:41 AM PDT

I don't like these two maps.

Edit: LMAO AZTECROSS MADE A VIDEO ABOUT MAPS. Fuck it. Give us back Bastion, Black Shield, Blind Watch, Crossroads, Firebase Delphi, First Light, Floating Gardens, Frontier, Last Exit, Skyshock, Timekeeper.

I dont give a shit, charge me $40 for these maps. Just dont let me step foot inside Exodus Blue again. No more.

Bungie talk about "buildcrafting" but the cost and barrier to this is too high

    Posted: 19 Apr 2021 02:13 AM PDT

I see on Twitter that dmg talks about how fun build crafting is, but as a long-term active player, I rarely engage in this, sticking to a single build I swap the odd Champion or ammo mod out of. I fancy making a warmind build, or maybe a charged with light one. I can't be bothered to invest in doing that though, as the game has placed numerous hurdles in my way.

    Am I alone in this?

This is a rant, but not from someone who is always salty.

I feel like the game, by concept and design, actively discourages buildcrafting and demands too much time, cost and effort.

Firstly, time. The time it takes to grind for armour or weapons. This isn't that much or a problem as it is what the game is about, it's still time spent, but it's more palatable.

Time to grind materials, and their cost. You want two or three different builds, well, you'll have to upgrade them to fit all your mods in. That's going to take materials. These get progressively rarer, until you get to ascendent shards. These have been made to be a valuable, desirable rate resource, but I'd say that they discourage experimentation, as the cumumlative cost of a masterworked full armour and weapon set for one build takes months.

Baffling, it also costs to switch mods. Why? The flexibility should come from your loadout, not your glimmer wallet.

Why aren't all mods freely available? Okay so you don't have to have them at a vendor for everyone to pick up if you don't want to, but put them as focused rewards - you're guaranteed, say, Wrath of Rasputin from a Valor reset or something. Players know just wait for it to be on sale with Banshee. Is that satisfying? More satisfying than earning it?

There's no theory crafting for a lot of players as they just lack sufficient resources, not the will to do it. They don't have the time to play 20 hours a week, they don't have the mods, they don't have the shards.

Then there's a lack of loadout. It's an absolute pain to just swap out my ammo and Champion mods between activities, let alone thinking of "Well, I'll use this Sunshot/Warmind build for this PVE activity" and then go back to this PVP build. At one point, it feels like you resign yourself to either going it with a mismatch of mods, or sticking to a relatively vanilla character. Saving loadouts and swapping with a click in-game would make that so much easier.

With transmog, Bungie might finally get the aesthetics of character building right, but I'm arguing, when is it going to do the same with the actual meat and stats behind them?

Warlocks, you're not thinking about the Guardian Games like Warlocks

    Posted: 19 Apr 2021 10:11 AM PDT

Empty pitches to play the class? Giving up and allying with hunters? You guys aren't using your warlock brains.

Let's look at what we're actually walking into. If this is like last year's Games, every day you win is a point. That in mind, read this again:

We still have to account for different class population, so this year the class that comes in third place each day gets a permanent 10% bonus on scoring going forward.

So, first place class gets a point. Last place class gets +10% going forward. As for second place, well... don't ever be second place.

That means the way to win this is to be intentional about whether we're going to win or lose a day. If half of us are trying to warlock as hard as we can and the other half are trying to back up hunters and whoops we get second place? We look like idiots.

And we are in real danger of that. Warlocks got second place almost every day the first Games!

But there's more going on than "second place" bad. We want to eat our losses early, so we have +10% when we are actually trying for wins. Overall, the winning strat is to throw a bunch of games early, get those score multipliers, then start trying. But that's complicated by when bounties and weeklies are available.

So here's what we should do:

    1. Don't touch Guardian Games until this weekend at the earliest
    2. Bank your bounties Saturday and Sunday but don't turn them in
    3. Turn everything in Monday

If we win Monday that means we have the multipliers we need, and catching up will be difficult if we start trying from then on. If we don't win Monday, we throw the next few days again.

Plan ahead. Do the math. Think like a Warlock.

I think it's clear, Champions need a little TLC Bungie.

    Posted: 19 Apr 2021 06:07 AM PDT

Since Shadowkeep, Champions have remained as a constant, if somewhat unimaginative, addition to most "challenging" content. They haven't evolved as a concept, yet somehow created a number of player agency issues that I hope you will address moving forward. Overall, Champs are a step in the right direction.. but they still need more work Bungie.

    Problems with Champions:

    1. Seasonal champ mod severely limit loadouts (player agency)
    2. Some Champs are unfun or downright unfair in higher-level content
    3. Bugs

    Potential Solutions

The loadout limitation issue can be addressed in many ways. I'm summarizing what I've seen from the community:

    • Add more inherent anti-champ effects to old exotics, especially special & heavy weapons.
    • Balance PvE weapon sandbox to make the "forced" seasonal meta shifts more bearable.
    • Incorporate anti-champ traits to subclass abilities based on elements or make them more accessible. This could be as simple as improving existing status effects or as complex as adding an Anti-Champ bonuses to each element types.
      • Void Suppression prevents ability cast (teleport, barrier)
      • Arc Blinds prevent you from being targeted (already works like this)
      • Solar burn could prevent/delay Champ health regen
      • Stasis Freeze kinda does all three, but for a short duration.
    • Make anti-champ mods equally viable. Overload, specifically, sucks on fully auto weapons.
    • Introduce New Skill-Based Champions that aren't tied to some seasonal gimmick.

Most champions are pretty manageable and fair. But there are a few exceptions:

    • Barrier Servitor's tether should grant some other manageable buff damage resist/health regen instead of immunity. Same applies to normal Servitors.
    • Barrier Colossi - Colossi in general - need damage falloff, reduced projectile speed, or a damage nerf. They're oppressively annoying to deal with in higher level content.
    • Overload Champ's health regen and teleportation should only kick in once their stun has refreshed.
      • Captains teleport way too frequently, making them crazy hard to track on console.
      • Minotaurs are basically unstoppable champs. Give them a more interesting mechanic.

Bugs are obviously a problem. Champ mods inconsistently proc and some champions can be outright broken. Looking at you Taken Phalanxes. There are also issues with Stasis freeze and champ ability timers.

Edit: Added some examples and another bug mentioned by u/Assassin2107

I Finished My First Raid(the Last Wish Raid) And Got My First Title This Month (Been playing since 2018)

    Posted: 19 Apr 2021 07:17 PM PDT

I've played Destiny since 2018 when Forsaken came out (a buddy of mine bought me the Legendary edition with Curse of Osiris, Warmind, and Forsaken). I'd say I'm like an average player, and I finally finished my first raid (the Last Wish Raid) this month. I only play with IRL friends, so I haven't really gotten an opportunity before, and it feels great. My buddy (the same guy who bought me the legendary edition) is a big-time Destiny player with over 3,000 hrs and helped the rest of us out (3 of us were newbies). It took us about 3.5 hrs to complete it, and it was awesome that we finally did it.

On top of the raid, I even got my first title, Dredgen, and I'm super close to getting the Chosen title too. Ik they're prob the easier titles to get, but it feels great to finally have a title. After Chosen, I want to hopefully go for the Grandmaster title, but we'll see how that goes.

I'm almost at a high enough power level for Grandmasters this season, so I'm hoping I'll have my first Grandmaster completion as well. Overall, it's been a great season of Destiny for me. I took a break from Destiny when sunsetting came around, but I joined back about a month ago when I heard it was being removed and I'm happy I did. Now I just gotta do the Garden of Salvation and the Deep Stone Crypt, can't wait to have those under my belt as well.

Bungie, please buff the rates for exotic items from Eververse Engrams

    Posted: 19 Apr 2021 10:04 PM PDT

I kid you not, I've opened 63 Eververse engrams this season, and I've only gotten 1 exotic item to drop. What's even the point of having them if they drop items you've already gotten, and hardly any exotic ones? Just buff the exotic rates from these engrams, or just make them not drop items you've already gotten nearly as often.

Premonition drop rate is abysmal in the Pit of Heresey

    Posted: 19 Apr 2021 12:34 PM PDT

I really want the re-issued Pit of Heresy pulse rifle Premonition with thresh, but requires you to invest a lot of your time to only get a chance of getting this weapon.

It drops from the second encounter, The Chamber of Suffering. You get one chance of loot per character per week for that chest, which gives both weapons and armour.

You can grind Alters of Sorrow to complete Eris' bounty to obtain the Hymn of Desecration consumable, which guarantees a weapon drop from either the first or second encounter.

You use Desecration and then complete the Chamber of Suffering, but then you have to pray to RNGesus that the you don't get any of the other weapons!

On top of that, you can still get a trash roll...

Please, please, make loot from Pit of Heresy farmable. Even before Bungie announced the reissued moon weapons, I have only ever gotten two Premonitions to drop from 30 clears.

Start doing presage this coming week if you want chosen before the season ends

    Posted: 19 Apr 2021 05:53 PM PDT

Because the chosen seal requires the final triumph for scanning objects in the presage mission. If you have not started running presage, next week, beginning tomorrow at reset, will be the last week to start in order to get the title before the season ends.

For those who don't know, you need all five of the first scannables, then to wait for reset. Then you get 6 scannables in the second week, and wait for reset again. Finally, you get the last four and complete presage and you get the triumph completed.

Because of this, it takes three weeks, start to finish to complete the triumph.

So if you haven't already, go explore the mission while you still have time.

Edit: This is mostly if you want to get the pin for unlocking the title. Presage will be sticking around until witch queen.

We should be able to gild Raid titles by having a flawless raid as a need requirement

    Posted: 19 Apr 2021 06:50 PM PDT

Titles don't have as much flair as they used to when they first came out, as the grind for most titles has been made it exponentially easier than what they used to be. While Gilded titles are a step in the right directions for having prestigious titles back, the raid titles have been left behind and forgotten about. Up until Season of Dawn, all the raid titles required a flawless raid, and since the change to Enlightened and the flawless clear being removed from the title, the Enlightened and Descendant titles don't have the same prestige as something like Rivensbane or Shadow. While they still have the cool factor of being a raid title, they don't show as much commitment than a title that required a flawless raid. Back in Y2, seeing a person with a raid title meant that they were somewhat of an expert in a certain raid, as they were able to do an activity that required a lot of time and skill, where as now, the raid titles don't show as much prowess as the old ones did. I think that a good way to bring back the prestige of raid titles would to have a flawless raid be required (along with some other wacky triumphs) in order to gild a raid title. That way if people wanted to show expertise in a raid, they could do some extra triumphs, including a flawless raid, in order to gild the raid title. It wouldn't be mandatory, but something extra for the more hardcore.

If there’s anything I really loved about this season’s loot, it’s Frozen Orbit

Seriously, this sniper is SO GOOD. It's not perfect I'm aware, nothing is. However, in my eyes it's almost everything a sniper should strive to be, it gets a lot right, the zoom, the perks (yes large pool but there's a lot of great combos) and the feel and sounds. It's also in a great archetype

Bungie, show some love to old exotics.

    Posted: 19 Apr 2021 02:42 PM PDT

Ok first of all i know that you guys arent getting money from old content and i understand that. after all everybody gotta make a living. But you can show some love and buff those weapons without making them meta. For example currently nobody ever reals uses old primary exotics in endgame pve content. Thats because new exotics and special legendaries is more usable. I mean when was the last time you saw anyone using wavesplitter in GM or Master content. Now theres a lot of exotics that hasnt got a catalyst and the ones with old catalyst get shafted to side by new catalystised exotics. I mean Witherhoard get both handling bonus and a perk while crimson get only range. Then i thought of a solution. Add old exotics a instrintic Anti champion perk. For example give Arbalest anti barrier. Give graviton lance anti barrier. give Acrius unstoppable. Give Tractor overload. Give Queenbreaker Overload or Unstoppable. You get the gist of it. This would make all exotic used and prevent players from using the same load out as everyone. This would allow them a lot more usage and it would cost you less than completely reworking them.

Tldr: Please add some Y1 or Y2 underused exotics, Anti Champ perks.

    • Devrim Kay – Salzwerk Scavenger – Loot 5 Chests in the EDZ

Step 3 - Follow These Steps:

    1. Fly to the Cosmodrome, grab Shaw's bounties, then run The Disgraced Strike. Use a Pulse Rifle, Sniper Rifle, and Heavy Grenade Launcher, at least one of which is Arc. (15 minutes)
    2. Play one-to-two matches of Iron Banner with a Solar weapon and/or Subclass. (10-20 minutes)
    3. Play one-to-two matches of Gambit with a Solar Subclass. (10-20 minutes)
