Bungie's "Renewed Focus" on PvP was a blatant lie.

    Posted: 05 May 2021 01:05 PM PDT

It has been close to two years since we have received any new maps. There has been no effort of cycling maps in and out of the content vault. The closest thing we have seen is two new Iron banner weapons, and a new set of trials armor that is modeled based off of the dawning armor.

These things aren't a renewed focus, and I question if they're even the bare minimum. The PvP community is a husk, and it's sad to say that the damage is likely already done.

PvE is still pretty fun tho :)

    Notes:

    • One final playthrough, captured before the 'vaulting' deadline.

    • Originally intended to archive only in-game narratives; select cutscenes/excerpts, and all of the Lost Sectors have eventually been included (these can easily be skipped).

    • The recordings are entirely commentary-free.

    • *Only 750 Power weapons and armor were equipped to avoid being over-leveled as far as possible, with an exception being the "Legends Lost" World Quest on Mercury, where the Power level was likely in the 900s (well, that, and the 'Sorrow MG2' picked up in "Adieu", which was a scaled drop). An activated and partially leveled Seasonal Artifact, however, meant an effective Power Level progression of 757-767 from the series start to the end.

    • Adventures appear corresponding to their original progression levels, with two exceptions: "Deep Conversation" on Nessus, and "Arecibo" on Io, which seemed better positioned to lean into Expansions I and II, respectively.

    • All EDZ and Nessus content has been included for completeness' sake.

    • If you notice an error in any of the links or descriptions, please do let me know...

    • ..and that's it!

Every single Hunter cloak in the game has a hidden hood-down option. Please - let us toggle it.

See: Festival of the Lost masks interacting with Hunter hoods

There's like three default hood-down cloaks in the game - one of them isn't available, another's in Eververse, and the last one is RNG from Wrathborn hunts from an expired season.

Reminder: When Overload and Unstoppable champions are glowing, they cannot be re-stunned for a brief period of time

    Posted: 05 May 2021 09:10 AM PDT

A few of my veteran clanmates just learned this the other day. After you stun/stagger an Overload or Unstoppable champion, there is a brief moment when they don't move. Afterwards, they'll glow in which they cannot be re-stunned/staggered. This usually goes away after a few seconds.

For Unstoppable, their "horns" glow and for Overload, the "X" pattern across their chest glow

This should help when trying to re-stun/stagger Overload and Unstoppable champions

    Example:

    Vulnerable Unstoppable

    Immune Unstoppable

Bungie's approach to PvP as a whole makes no sense at all.

    Posted: 05 May 2021 05:11 AM PDT

New, powerful and cool-looking Trials loot last season despite the fact that Trials is an absolute nightmare to the average player.

No new Iron Banner set in over a year despite the fact that Iron Banner is far more accessible to players than Trials.

No specific rewards for the Competitive playlist since Y1 Y2.

Balancing (and often ruining) things in PvE based on their power in PvP and Gambit despite the fact that we haven't gotten new PvP or Gambit content in almost TWO YEARS.

People say that the reason that we haven't gotten a new PvP map in so long is because Bungie doesn't want to put dev time into a F2P thing, yet we got a whole new strike and two ported ones last season, not to mention Prophecy and VoG.

And if the real reason PvP has gotten no new content is because the team that makes maps and stuff is going to work at a new game, what on EARTH makes Bungie think they can manage a PvP-focused game based on the way they handle Destiny PvP?

Friendly reminder to remove artifact mods from gear before Splicers

    Posted: 05 May 2021 06:16 AM PDT

Just in case we get the same issue on season reset where the equipped & unlocked weapon mods from the artifact were missing on armor.

Probably best to reset the artifact and unequip any mods currently slotted on armor so you aren't missing anything crucial.

*edit* didn't realize some of you have abhorrent reset costs, so take the reset idea with a grain of salt, but definitely unequip the mods from your gear.

Even though swords needed a nerf, the last rounds of nerfs do not align with your balance philosophy Bungie. Heavy weapons should NOT be reliant on one perk (Whirlwind Blade) to feel good.

    Posted: 05 May 2021 05:43 AM PDT

I want to be absolutely clear, swords were overtuned, slightly, well-before Falling Guillotine (FG) was introduced. FG took things to another level, while its sister Temptations Hook absolutely sucked.

Unfortunately, swords are heavily reliant on Whirlwind Blade to feel good (more on that later). For example, Bungie gave Bequest (the DSC raid sword) higher base damage than a normal adaptive frame... but no one uses it because it doesn't have Whirlwind Blade.

Here are my ideas on fixing swords:

    A note on Sword Identity:

(From Bungie) Sword: Ammo efficient add clear, single target sustained damage, secondary burst damage (at the cost of being next to a dangerous target).

While it is true that swords are efficient at ad clear and offer great sustain damage, burst damage should be their primary value offering since they are close-ranged single-target weapons by default. According to your own philosophy, close range weapons need to offer higher avg-DPS and burst DPS to account for the risk we're taking by using them, especially in higher-level content (where weapons actually matter).

The recent sword nerfs do not align with this design principle. In higher-level content, sustain damage doesn't make up for the risk of close range. If anything, these nerfs will only make swords more reliant on Whirlwind Blade, which furthers the sustain damage aspect of the weapon while also reducing perk diversity. This completely defies your own sandbox design logic, Bungie.

You might ask, "can't we defend with swords?" To that, note that for swords defense (guard) and offense (heavy attack) are both mutually exclusive and mutually punishing. This means that you can only do one at any given time, which is fine, but ALSO that doing one significantly hurts your ability to do the other.

    Fixing Sword Identity:

So, how do we make swords a great burst damage option while reducing their sustain damage potential? It's pretty easy really:

    1. Revert the latest base damage nerfs
    2. Reduce sword reserves by 25-35% depending on frame (reduces total damage output)
      1. Remember, all swords have ammo regen perks.
    3. Reduce Whirlwind Blade's bonus to ~20%. (reduces sustain DPS)
    4. Add more meaning and thought to archetypes (see next section)
    5. (Optional) Add separate meters for Guard and Heavy attack to make guard-based perks viable. (increases burst DPS)

    Preserving Archetype Identity:

On point 5, Vortex and Caster frames are not nearly as well-designed as Adaptives, Goldtusk, or Thronecleaver. Both frames, after the next nerf, lack combo efficiency (i.e. its better to spam lights than use a heavy attack).

Compare these to the class specific swords, Lightweights and Aggressives. Both swords had a unique attack speed and heavy attack modifier (3.0) that made comboing ammo efficient, yet still gave the sword unique identity and value compared to Adaptives.

    • Casters actively punish you for using your heavy attack. Heavy attacks deal ~2.8x dmg, yet cost 8x the ammo of a light attack. Consider the following changes to make the sword a heavy attack focused, but still useful.
      • Increase base dmg by ~10% (5% less than Adaptives)
      • Reduce heavy attack cost to 3 ammo.
      • Reduce base reserves by ~25%.
      • Add an intrinsic holster-recharge effect to the frame
        • Caster Frame: [Heavy] Launch a heavy projectile attack. This sword's heavy attack meter recharges while stowed.
    • Vortex Frames (Darkdrinker) now also suffers from the same issue. To fix this, consider modeling it after the well-designed Aggressive Frame's AS and damage profile. After these changes, Whirlwind Blade would not be the absolute best option.
      • Increase light attack dmg by ~20% (20% more than adaptives)
      • Reduce light attack speed by ~22%
      • Reduce base Heavy recharge rate to ~5.7s (8-9 light attacks)
      • Heavy Attack mod to ~3.55x light attack, and cost to 3 ammo.
      • Reduce reserves by ~35%.
      • Vortex Frame: [Heavy] launch a heavy spin attack. Light attacks are slower, but stronger.

These are my humble ideas as a Destiny fan who just wants this game to fulfill its potential. Thank you for reading this post, and please offer constructive feedback for me and Bungie on the topic.

I played with a 9 year old Portuguese speaking Brazilian through Google Translate

    Posted: 05 May 2021 03:10 PM PDT

Fuck me. Logged on to shred bounties. Got a party invite, ignored it. I'm just chilling. Party invite came again, well shit, if this cunts that keen then fuck it. Let's smash cunts, pinnacles can wait. Through about 10mins I manage to work out he speaks Portuguese. Through Google translate I get him to follow through loads of strikes and nf. He's like 1300 light with 1 purple, trying to explain to him how to level up. I suggested gambit and he left, a sign of the state of gameplay? Perhaps. A sign of my shite Portuguese? Double Perhaps.

GAMBIT & CRUCIBLE UPDATE DESPERATELY NEEDED

    Posted: 05 May 2021 07:51 AM PDT

2 of the 3 CORE playlists in your game haven't been updated (they've actually degraded) since, what, Shadowkeep?

Bungie please give us an update on them with your TWAB discussing the upcoming season. I don't care about weapon metas and balancing, I don't care if people think they're "F2P" modes that don't make Bungie money. This is literally about maps and loot, I'm not asking for anything new.

Bring back all the OG Gambit and Reckoning loot and just throw it in there. Bring back the Tangled Shore and Dreaming City maps because there's zero reason to not have them with Gambit Prime gone. Bring back all the D2 vaulted Crucible maps to simply add variety to the playlist.

I don't care if my install balloons by 20GBs. These playlists are in DESPERATE need of ANYTHING at this point - especially when you always end up having quests or seasonal activities also revolve around playing the Core playlists.

The lore for Truth pretty much reflects how we felt seeing baby Eliksni

    Posted: 05 May 2021 10:06 AM PDT

He is about to abandon a ruined Devils skiff when he hears a faint hiss from inside a ventilation shaft. He clambers up to peer into its grate and sees four wary eyes shining back at him.

A hatchling, still soft and translucent with its egg-molt.

Carefully, he pries the grate open and beckons to her. "Velask, kelekh," he murmurs. "Nankemrak."

She crawls into his palm and his heart surges.

It stops being funny when Barrier Servitor RNG is the difference between a 6 and 11 minute Lost Sector run.

    Posted: 05 May 2021 03:25 AM PDT

Bungie really has to do something about this. I get it, it's fun to have enemies behave differently for every run. It cuts down on the monotony of farming Lost Sectors. But Servitors randomly hiding in unreachable spots, shielding everything around them, sometimes including unstoppable/overloaded Champions, is just not fun. Especially when the only counterplay option is: wait until the Servitor moves out of its hiding spot.

The daily K1 Logistics makes this painfully apparent. You can't just flank them. The corridors are too narrow or you'll just get nailed by whatever the Servitor is immuning.

    Posted: 05 May 2021 05:45 AM PDT

From the new season's page - As a token of friendship, Mithrax bestows Guardians with Cryosthesia 77k, a Stasis-powered Sidearm with Liquid Cooling tech.

Relevant line from Coldheart's lore - Its liquid ammo, which doubles as its coolant, is a game-changer on its own—never mind Coldheart's first-of-its-kind laser-powered trace weaponry.

They require a high level of team play (my clan has been helping each other to it).

The buildcrafting required is very, very fun.

    Fuck Proving Grounds. Seriously.

I can't wait to gild it again next season.

I know it's already too late, but I sure hope Bungie gives us the Age of Triumph VoG armor set, instead of the base set...

The Age of Triumph set is infinitely better than the original VoG armor. Honestly, D1 Y3 armor looks better than anythingin D2 so far, by a long shot.

I know the likelihood of us getting this amazing version of the VoG armor is slim, but hopefully they took it into consideration when they planned to bring the Raid back.

So, as a Titan, I've accepted my bronze fate for this guardian games. It's honestly how it was always going to be, when based on player population. However, I am deeply saddened that my gold class item from last year is now bronze. That's not okay...

I mean, do you take gold medals from from last years Olympians, and then give them to the new winners? Do old trophies transmute into different materials if you don't continue to win each year? Spoilers. They don't.

I feel like our 2020 class items should reflect the outcome of that year since we seem to get a new class item each year. But, maybe that's asking for too much from the class that's out populated by all other classes.

Stay strong Titans, remember that we still run the Vanguard, the Crucible, the Iron Banner, and Trials. The tower would literally collapse without us.

Anyone Remember the Wish Ender DPS Glitch in Season of Dawn?

Title says it all. I think back fondly on that time very often, seeing everyone run around with bows and 1-2 shotting yellow bars. Even better, it wasn't TOO overpowered AND it wasn't broken in PvP
