    Trials of Osiris is LIVE

This thread is for all general discussion, questions, thoughts, musings, wonderings, etc. for the Trials of Osiris.

    FAQ

    What is Trials of Osiris?

    • Trials of Osiris is the pinnacle PvP activity. Every Weekend, the best players compete in 3v3 Elimination for one goal: Go Flawless.

    • To start, head to Saint-14 in the Tower Hangar and buy one of the possible passages (see below).

    • To reach Flawless and get to the Lighthouse, you need to win 7 matches without losing one.

    • It uses Win Based Matchmaking, which means you'll face teams with a similar amount of wins on their card. Matches will get harder as you win more matches.

    • There is NO fireteam matchmaking. You need to team up yourself!

    • Power Level matters, however bonus power from the artifact is not enabled.

How Long do the Trials of Osiris last?

    • Event Starts: Every Friday at Daily Reset (1700 UTC).

    • Event Ends: Following Tuesday at Weekly Reset (1700 UTC).

Where do I go to find Guardians to compete with in the Trials?

    • You can head over to /r/Fireteams, www.The100.io, Xbox LFG system, DestinyLFG.net or DestinyLFG.com, or go to the Bungie.net recruitment forum (also available through the Bungie App).

What if I have a question about another piece of armor/weapon or general Trials question?

    • Use Control + F (Or Command + F if on a Mac) and search for keywords in your question. Someone may have asked it already. If they haven't ask right below.

I know this is a pipe dream but can we have Zavala's Eliksni spear as an exotic or ritual weapon?

    Posted: 19 Jun 2021 02:12 AM PDT

If you watched Zavala's prelude, his M4 and his Eliksni spear are part of his gear for a long time. Like way before the City was founded.

It would be quite fitting if Mithrax gave us such a weapon in view of the alliance. Or Zavala and Mithrax can make one as a ritual weapon.

Just for the heck of it. But yeah I know it as pointless as hoping for the exotic M4.

I think Xür is so clutch sometimes

    Posted: 18 Jun 2021 10:48 PM PDT

I had an exotic cypher and on my first one, I got the Crimson, which is a gun Ive been DYING to get. Then, I try my luck on an exotic engram and get the Celestial Nighthawk. I kid you not, if you go lower skill tree on the golden gun route and land a precision shot after you get Knock Em' Down, you can get well over 450k on a enemy. Thank you Xür!

Vault of Glass but someone rides a sparrow for the entire run and nobody dies.

    Posted: 18 Jun 2021 11:47 AM PDT

The Flawless Sparrow Run in the Vault of Glass Raid was a challenge that Leopard came up with for his GCX block on the 14th of June 2021. The idea was to do this on a Micro Mini, with incentives to sabotage the run such as random boosts, ramming teammates or doing a lap around the arena.

We didnt get it done during the block, the furthest we got was the chasm after Gorgons. After the block ended though, we gave it another shot with 1) Always on Time and 2) no sabotages. This is what happened on the final attempt of the day.

Give Nightmare Hunts exotic drops like Legend Lost Sectors

    Posted: 19 Jun 2021 12:44 AM PDT

I've been revisiting Nightmare hunts since I'm going for Harbinger, and I realized they're fairly fun and short. These activities are about the same length and difficulty as legendary lost sectors. I think if legendary and master nightmare hunts were given a daily exotic rotation that would really open up some replayability for these activities.

The exotic rotation could offer a third option, or just match exactly what the lost sectors are dropping for the day. I'd love to hear anyones thoughts on this.

    Worst. Guardian. Ever.

    Posted: 19 Jun 2021 08:06 AM PDT

I wouldn't be surprised if the Vanguard performed a psychiatric evaluation to determine whether my Guardian is mentally fit to, you know, save humanity from mass extinction. It's amazing that the Traveler Itself hasn't revoked my Light privileges indefinitely.

What do I mean by this? During my first attempt at the Vault of Glass in Destiny 2 yesterday, I:

    • Accidentally passed through the portal to Mars during the DPS phase.

    • Wandered around the Vault like an idiot because my entire screen was black.

    • Shot the front middle oracle because I misperceived it as the back middle oracle.

    • Died from the exploding Wyvern in the Mars portal... while wielding the Relic.

    • Dealt less than 30,000 DPS to Atheon in the five DPS phases that my team and I attempted.

They say Guardians make their own fate. My Guardian just makes an ass of himself.

Bungie please: swap the "stun requirements" for overload and unstoppable weapon mods

    Posted: 18 Jun 2021 02:53 PM PDT

Before the comments spam "just get rid of champs!" we both know that isn't happening, bungie is NEVER going to remove them.

The gimmick to stopping overload champions is "concentrated fire" where doing multiple hits with a weapon stuns the champ, UNFORTUNATELY all overload champs except taken hobgoblins are teleporters, meaning maintaining fire on them is extremely annoying.

Unstoppable weapons however only require 1 hit after holding ADS (grenade launchers are an exception), that takes time to charge, which makes unstoppable champs laughably easy to stun since you can peak around a corner and stun them immediately.

the one time we had a good "anti-overload" mod was with bows, which only needed one hit. It felt like we needed to pin down a squirmy foe that wouldn't stop moving.

if they were swapped it would even the playing field by demanding players to hold their ground with unstoppable champs, making them a more interesting foe. And wait for the right time to shoot teleport spammers.

obviously don't change existing exotic weapons with a pre-built perk. They were designed specifically for those champion types and as such are thematically appropriate.

Bottom Tree Dawnblade needs a buff

    Posted: 18 Jun 2021 09:09 PM PDT

Let's talk about bottom Tree Dawnblade, and why I think it needs a buff and in which areas.

It's not top tree Dawnblade, everyone knows what a top tree Dawnblade looks like, especially when they're flying around the map at Mach 10 speed. But how do you know if someone is using bottom tree, simple answer, you don't. Either because it just doesn't match up to how good top tree is and nobody uses it. Or it's a Dawnblade, everyone assumes you can fly and dodge because it doesn't look any different from top tree.

Here's what I think we can do to differentiate bottom tree from top tree:

    1) Fated For the Flame - "Daybreak projectiles seek targets as they travel and, upon impact, launch a streak of deadly flames."

Both of these are sub par, I main bottom tree and have seen that. I believe the tracking from Dawnblade projectiles should be increased a little bit more, as they're not really that great at tracking. And secondly the supposed "streak of deadly flames" that erupts from the dawnblade attack isn't all that great either. I feel like to improve this we need to make it do what the "Martyr's Retribution" grenade launcher does, to make it more effective.

    2) Igniting Touch - (Melee) "Strike an enemy with this melee to burn them AND cause them to explode."

This melee ability finds itself severely lacking in PvP and PvE, yet performs slightly better in PvE. What we can do to improve this is either 1 of two things. 1 is we now have two melee charges, and the burn effects of the melee are slightly improved, that way you can at least get the melee explosion kill in the crucible more often. Or 2 you melee and that does the explosion on them. Melees normally remove the first shield in pvp, the extra explosion would do about half of the health left over when the shield was removed from the initial hit.

    3) Phoenix Dive - "Activate while midair to quickly descend and restore health. While Daybreak is active, descend causes explosive damage and returns super energy."

Phoenix Dive initially already has a timer on it but to improve it, let's start with having that timer show in the corner. Normally 1 Phoenix dive gives the player about less than half of their healthbar. It performs best when your health starts to regenerate and you use it to get a quick boost of health during the health regen, making it basically top off your healthbar. But back to improvements, the animation speed should go faster as starting it midair gives a brief moment where you are just frozen in midair. To compare, it feels slower than shatter dive when you do it. More or less the actual ability itself is fine, however I do feel like warlocks could benefit from an exotic that acts like the wormhusk crown hunter exotic and completely fills health and shield bar with overshield (if I'm not mistaken, I believe that's what it does.) when you use the Phoenix Dive. Inside of the super however I have not seen it return super energy, only the Dawnblade kills return the super energy itself (not very much in PvP, it's fine in PvE though).

To improve on the Phoenix dive while inside the super, while it's decent (and saying that is a stretch) damage, its not the best. A way to make it even more of a viable ability as a super would be to give it the forward momentum of a shatter dive that way you can reach enemies faster. And instead of the initial burn damage tick that it does, let's give it a solar burst of damage AoE effect like the Titans "Ballistic Slam" arc effect, but solar.

    4) Everlasting Fire - "Killing an enemy with Daybreak extends its duration."

I like this idea, but as I mentioned already Daybreak kills return super energy, they don't extend its duration. So this column feels empty and useless and needs something new. I have no ideas on what it could need so I'll leave it up to you to decide what that fourth empty slot would be.

Let me know your thoughts on this, would these changes overpower the super? Do you think the super is already fine enough as it is? What would you like to see changed?

It would be great if Xur sold an engram containing a random unowned mod

    Posted: 18 Jun 2021 03:40 PM PDT

To clarify: I am suggesting this as a mechanism to obtain mods otherwise sold by Ada or Banshee, not raid or adept mods. It just sucks when a mod you don't have is sold on a day when you aren't able to log in and then it seems like you won't see that mod again. Ever.

A weekly engram sold by Xur for shards (similar to his current exotic engram) is one idea to fix this problem.

Can Console get a faster scroll cursor option for menus? Like a go fast menu update for the cursor?

    Posted: 19 Jun 2021 06:39 AM PDT

It takes so long to move the circle and wish we had a more fluid cursor like PC. Can we get an option or a straight up upgrade to the speed we move the cursor on console menus? Like for example, when going through mods, the cursor automatically slows down. Don't slow it down.

With future focusing systems, non-seasonal activities should reward small amounts of the focusing currency while having the seasonal activity continue to reward significantly more.

    Posted: 18 Jun 2021 07:54 AM PDT

    The Problem

I understand wanting us to play the seasonal activity. It was fun and exciting for the first week, but now it's become a frustrating and repetitive process where half of the players just go AFK, looking for a free (over)ride. It's also no-longer fun once players run 50 of them just to unlock half of the perks that only apply to that activity.

This leaves us in a tricky situation. The activity becomes a chore that players stop enjoying, but it's the only reasonable way to get seasonal gear from umbrals, which can drop from everywhere.

Hear me out. The Chosen focusing system had a very long and stingy gameplay loop. The Splicer loop feels less stingy but it's not much shorter. One thing that both seasons have in common is, if you want seasonal gear, you have to play non-seasonal activities for Currency-A in order to play the seasonal activity for Currency-B, which is required for focusing seasonal umbrals. Nobody likes this.

    Solution

Taking this all into consideration, there is one simple change that could make this system exponentially better. Reward small amounts of the seasonal umbral-focusing currency from *all* activities. Obviously this shouldn't be as simple as "kills can reward Currency-X" (looking at you, Thrallway). Rather, it should just be activity completion-based, scaling based on the activity type but giving significantly more from the seasonal activity.

    Example

Assuming the season pass boost is maxed and only applies to the seasonal activity, here's what it could look like, using Season of the Splicer as an example:

    Activity Data Rewarded on Completion
    Override (Seasonal) 75
    Raid (Per-encounter) 10
    Dungeons (Per-encounter) 5
    Ordeals 15
    Crucible/Strikes/Gambit 10
    Public event 3
    Heroic Event 5

A system like this would let players progress how they want through every activity, albeit at a slower rate, but also push them to the seasonal activity if they want to expedite things. This would be a big step towards owning the "play your way" statement.

    TLDR;

In future 'engrem focusing systems, every activity completion should reward varying amounts of the currency required to focus umbrals but they should all be less-rewarding than the seasonal activity in order to give it purpose.

Javelin-4 continues to be a breath of fresh air in the crucible playlist

    Posted: 18 Jun 2021 06:34 AM PDT

Fair warning, this post has no plan or direction. All of this is purely my opinion and I'm not trying to argue that I am right. I have just noticed that I have subconsciously preferred Javelin-4 over nearly any other map for sometime now and this is me gushing about it.

I don't know for sure why it always feels this way for me, but I can't argue with the fact that I always look forward to playing it. My main theory is that it simply has some of the best engagement diversity across the active map pool. I'm sure there are other maps that have these qualities, but Javelin-4 is what comes to my mind. There is room for shotgunning, but I think it is still slightly harder than on other maps. There is also a good amount of long range fights that you can take. For being a largely "indoor" map it still has a a lot of verticality. There isn't really any clutter to annoyingly bump into stopping all of your movement. Above all else though, there is just so much room and I rarely feel claustrophobic. looking at you twighlight gap

Does anyone else feel the same? Or the same about another map currently in the playlist? If a Europa pvp map does come to Destiny 2, I really hope it has some of the above attributes.

This is going to sound hilarious but how do I cancel an order from Bungie store

    Posted: 19 Jun 2021 07:07 AM PDT

I probably should've done research before buying. £110 total for a toaster which is basically worth about ten dollars, the exact model of which is actually unsafe (you can find the exact model of the toaster on a lot of sites for very cheap as it breaks quickly). Sure, I love them emblem but I'd actually be okay losing it tbh. Fairly quick buyer's regret lol!

Please let us solo queue for all pve activities

    Posted: 19 Jun 2021 12:12 AM PDT

Many of the activities in this game do not have nearly enough enemies, making them exceedingly boring to play as a team. Fighting over kills with teammates is easily the least fun part of this game. Letting us solo queue for pve activities would be the quickest and easiest way to mitigate this problem

Bungie, we need more than one catalyst per season

    Posted: 19 Jun 2021 08:56 AM PDT

The catalysts we've been getting each season have been pretty good, but only getting one feels a little bad considering how many exotics don't have one. I don't know how hard they are to make and put in the game, but if we keep getting one per season it's gonna be a while before each exotic has a catalyst.
