    Focused Feedback: Player Movement

    Posted: 14 Jun 2021 09:19 AM PDT

    Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding 'Player Movement' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

A Season Pass that never expires

    Posted: 14 Jun 2021 09:00 AM PDT

In the latest Halo Infinite vidoc they talked about their Battle Pass (essentially the same as our Season Pass) and how it will never expire. In Infinite, you're able to purchase all previous Battle Passes at any time and choose which one to pour your XP into and progress.

Something like this would be amazing for Destiny. As someone who hates all the FOMO of having to max my season pass before it all vanishes forever at the end of the season, and someone who has had to tell a friend wanting to jump back into Destiny that the cool exotic I'm running or activity I'm playing was part of a previous season that he doesn't have access to, I'd love the ability to be able to buy a previous season to access its content and be able to switch which reward track I'd like to progress.

I know you can buy the Deluxe edition to gain access to previous activities, but that's quite an expensive option especially if you've already bought the current season and are only looking to play one activity you misssed out on. You also don't get access to any of the season pass tracks from previous seasons either, that stuff is gone forever. Imagine coming back to Destiny after a year and having 4-5 whole season passes worth of stuff to unlock as you play all their associated content, rather than having to wait until the next major expansion for just a fraction of it to potentially be added to the world loot pool.

    Decrypted Data > Hammer Charges

    Posted: 14 Jun 2021 12:51 PM PDT

Thank you bungie for improving upon last seasons system. I like being able to decide whether I spend data on splicer upgrades or engram focusing. The splicer gauntlet itself is better than the hammer too. I like that I can bank so many keycodes and make them in my UI while playing other activities. Ether feels plentiful, and doesn't take long to max out. Hammer charges felt like a pain to acquire and socketing different "mods" in the hammer didn't feel necessary.

Please continue to take what works from previous seasons and update what doesn't. Thanks!

Change the "Show Lore" on weapons/armor from hold to toggle

    Posted: 14 Jun 2021 08:04 AM PDT

Just voicing a repeated suggestion on this sub. For longer lore texts it's kind of a dealbreaker when I have to hold a button to prevent the text from disappearing. I wanna be able to appreciate the amazing lore in-game :/

Roaming supers need a buff in PvE.

    Posted: 14 Jun 2021 09:06 AM PDT

I just want some more variety in what I can bring into endgame PvE. Defaulting to Well/Chaos, Bubble/Thundercrash, or Invis/Celestial Goldie is getting a bit boring. The only decent one is bottom tree Sunbreaker (sunspots do massive damage, and the super lasts pretty long). I especially love the subclass with Phoenix Cradle and Wrath of Rasputin/Rage of the Warmind.

Every other roaming super subclass feels like it was designed around PvP. They all either have low damage output or a short duration (some have both issues). Increasing the damage and length of these supers (for PvE only of course) would put them in a much better spot and possibly usable for quick ad clear in endgame activities.

I can’t be the only one who thinks there needs to be base campaign for New Light players.

    Posted: 14 Jun 2021 04:03 PM PDT

The New Light experience definitely improved with Beyond Light, but I still think there needs to be a base campaign akin to Red War for new players to resonate with. As much as I'd love Red War to come back, I think it would honestly just confuse new players even more, especially with Cayde being alive.

Honestly, I can't even imagine how confusing tre story would be as a new player. Feel free to give your thoughts below :)

Gl's are not op, they are just annoying (shotguns mini rant)

    Posted: 14 Jun 2021 06:32 AM PDT

GL's are not op, they are just annoying to fight against. If you use a shotgun in pvp as ur main special, then u have no right or room to talk about annoying or op, shotguns are favoured by most players, because most players are, hunters and the vertical movement pairs well with shotgun, also the smaller map design for d2 maps makes it so it is easier and more encourages to use a shotgun. I do not want to hear that gl's are op, while most people in the game ape with shotguns and complain that pvp is stale when they never try anything else. Nerf shotguns, then we can maybe discuss and have a talk about nerfing gl's since gls are good counters to shotguns.

BTW, just to clarify, I've been playing since dark below in D1, so I have a long experience with destiny's many ups and downs when it comes to pvp. Saying this before I get people saying that I am a newb or some other stuff. Warlock main for 7 years and it feels good to be a space nerd : D

Also for pvp I have a consistent 1.9-2+ kd, idk if you think that's bad or not, but just saying that I'm not bad at pvp (not amazing either lmao)

This season, now more than ever before i think, has made me want our Guardian to have dialogue

    Posted: 14 Jun 2021 10:16 AM PDT

Ive wanted our guardian to be more vocal before. I lost my shit when we said "uldren sov is mine". Now, with the current seasons plot and witnessing the House Light encampment sacked, and watching Lakshmi basically say "tough shit everyone hates you" i wanted so bad for us or at least our Ghost to chime in with ANYTHING. We are THE guardian. I feel like what we say would have weight and could help calm tensions a little. Im not expecting a town hall cutscene but LET ME TELL LAKSHMI TO STICK A RUSTY POLE SOMEWHERE PLEASE.

Queenbreaker could really use a rework

    Posted: 14 Jun 2021 08:46 PM PDT

    "Blinds enemies on precision shots"

Worst exotic perk ever 0/10 would use again

In all seriousness it's a good idea on paper, get a headshot, blind a foe and make it easier to land follow up shots. And i think the weapon also does fairly good damage per shot all things considered, and is an absolute monster of a heavy in gambit as invader with combat sights.

However, in practice the 2-3 enemies you'd want to abuse this synergy with are unaffected/shrug it off too quickly to be of use, and the rest... well is it really worth giving up your exotic slot for it when you could use say... Texas yehaw (deadman's tale) or heir apparent...or really just anything that doesnt suffer from the unfortunate fate of needing two scavenger and reserve perks to use for more than HVT's.

I think queenbreaker would benefit more from a perk like deadman's where multiple headshots stack up extra damage or maybe some sort of perk like 4th times the charm. Just anything that helps boost its dps over vorpal linears.

[Hunter DPS for Aetheon] 2.5 Million Damage Shards of Galanor Build.

    Posted: 14 Jun 2021 08:30 AM PDT

I'd like to thank muffhound on reddit for the great suggestion on this build. We did a run where i did 2.4M so i think this build can go up to 2.5M easy.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Qw9mvf2FHU

    Edit:
What you should know : Spamming Blade Barrage alone isn't efficient.
The Combination of Tripmine Grenades + Anarchy and Salvo plus the Blade Barrage is key to get good amount of damage.
I prioritize on Applying 2x Anarchy ALWAYS, after that i make sure to pop my Salvo + Tripmine and then I'll pop my Blade Barrage-- After the Super animation is finished i should get my grenade back to do Tripmine + Salvo again-- rinse and repeat.

Weapons : Salvager's Salvo with Demolitionist + Vorpal Weapon, Anarchy
Mods: 2x Firepower Mod, High Energy Fire, Taking Charge Mod and Breach and Clear.
    + 2x Innervation Mods
Exotic Armor : Shards of Galanor
    Mid Tree Solar Gunslinger

    Override maximum efficency

    Posted: 14 Jun 2021 05:27 PM PDT

After doing 100 Overrides these are a few tips to maximize your efficiency.

    1. It only takes 5 motes to open the vex gate, grab five and deposit first to open it up so you can go grab the data spike.

    2. After depositing the data spike, collect motes but don't deposit. Odds are your team will be almost maxed out for the current level - hold on to your 10.

    3. During the unlock phase you shoot 2 oracles back to back, then a wave of ads spawns before the third oracle turns red. Do not be distracted by the ads. Just wait, look for the red oracle and shoot it so that the platforms appear.

    4. You (or someone else) climb the platforms and perform the unlock. This will reset everything and start the second wave.

    5. Now deposit your 10 motes, which opens the vex gate, rinse repeat.

What you're trying to avoid is having 10 motes and depositing when you only need less than 10 motes, because it cuts them off. If you need one mote to trigger unlock phase, depositing 10 wastes 9.

Depositing data spikes increases chances of getting treasure goblin but after 100 plus runs I've seen maybe 7.

Would love to hear if anyone has any other optimizations.

We all need a reality check.

    Posted: 14 Jun 2021 11:12 AM PDT

To everyone that hates (x) special weapon:

    We're all wrong.

See Salvo Susan over there spamming her skill-cannon? Yeah, she's having a blast because she just shot the floor, killing Ape Andrew and his 2 friends with one shot, were all hoarding 18 shots in their Felwinters while they cockroached around corners to shoot people in the crotch.

Fusion Frank? Well, nobody knows why he's that way but clearly that barrage of 15 Jotuun balls flying across the map is from him. Meanwhile, Bodyshot Barry is sitting in his empowering rift around a corner, hugging his sword and 4 mags of sniper ammo, waiting for someone's torso to spam with his Frozen Orbit.

Special weapons are not broken in pvp.

    (Many gasps)

Being able to pick up more than 1 shot from a special ammo brick is broken.

    (Many scoffs)

Aim assist and damage buffs have already lowered the skill floor for special weapons, but having endless ammo to spam them with put the skill floor in the basement.

Lastly, let's stop with the "get good" or "counter it". This is a weak excuse for people to ignore a poorly balanced sandbox and lacking matchmaking. There's no counter to someone chucking 12 GLs into your spawn or one devour lock slide shotgunning the enemy team for 10 minutes straight because he's picking up 2+ shots per kill and never out of ammo.

    TLDR;

    • Too much special ammo in PvP leading to frivolous use of specials.
    • Scavenger perks are unhealthy for PvP.
    • Special weapons are mostly fine otherwise.
    • Ideal Fix = Tweak tracerifles into an AR class, disable scav perks in PvP, possibly limit ammo pickups to only the person that got the kill.

I was so relieved to see that Cryosthesia 77k went in the kinetic slot and I really hope the Stasis legendary weapons we get next season go in the kinetic slot as well. The energy slot is just way to crowded right now and I hope Bungie realizes this as well.

    Increase Ascendant shards pls

    Posted: 14 Jun 2021 09:34 PM PDT

Can we get an increase in ascendant shards, prisms and vault space please? The fact that I can't save more then 3 shards is annoying and a big inconvenience. Having to find an exotic or pull one out just to add energy and use my current ascendant shards and other materials to leveling that exotic only to claim a shard I'm old on the season pass feels bad.

Edit: I meant 10 not 3. I was thinking about something else. But my point still stands.

    Somehow one-phased Kell Echo??

    Posted: 14 Jun 2021 01:51 PM PDT

I was practicing on Kell Echo for solo flawless Proph, did one phase of damage (it was at a little over half health), went into my menu to send a few messages on discord, and then somehow the boss just randomly died while I was in menu? I got mission complete and it said I didn't even do three million damage. I clipped it and took a screenshot of the final screen with damage, but I've never seen anything like this happen before. I did tag the boss with Anarchy right before teleport, but I've done this a dozen times and never had this happen. Has this happened for anyone else??

Anyways enjoy the table as all the others i've seen aren't visually appeasing. (I didn't know what to call the encounters exactly so I just used semi descriptions from the wiki that fit.)

    Top Tree Golden Gun Rework

    Posted: 14 Jun 2021 05:55 PM PDT

There are already 10 billion of these

    Perk 1: High Noon

Golden Gun is drawn significantly faster and targets are easier to hit with it.

    - This perk is designed to play into the power fantasy of GG of a "cowboy". Due to top tree's short duration, the intent of this version of the super is to be a "quickdraw shootout" type of super, meant for getting 6 kills in quick succession through precision aiming. Ideally this would help to encourage this, allowing you to pop Golden Gun without the animation, like you're drawing TLW, and burn down your opponent.

Perk 2: Bag Em and Tag Em

Your throwing knife is now a proximity explosive knife. Explosion damage now highlights targets. While Golden Gun is active, enemies are constantly highlighted.

    - The highlight is similar to the present OEM or target-marking scopes that see through Europa's cold weather, outlining them in bright red. This perk is mostly just an addition to the explosive knife, but now boosts the grenades to allow you to locate targets better and have you spend less time tracking while in GG.

    Perk 3: Chains of Woe

Precision kills increase reload speed, stacks up to three times. Each stack of Chains of Woe increases your explosion damage. Golden Gun causes targets to explode on kill.

    - Way of the Sharpshooter focuses very heavily on precision and the weighted knife, Way of the Outlaw focuses on explosions and your grenades. This perk specifically buffs all three grenades, potentially into one-shot kill range at maximum stacks. I'm hesitant to allow that, as getting three precision kills is significantly easier than something like Roaring Flames, but this is primarily a PVE perk for making your grenades better, and in PVP would be a lot more tame.

    Perk 4: Anything That Moves

Golden Gun has six rounds, and refunds a bullet with each kill. Final blows against tagged targets restore ability energy.

    - The big perk that ties it all together. Deal damage with your explosives, more if you can aim, finish a tagged bounty off and get paid for your efforts. Toss a nade, burn your targets down, and chuck another no problem. Be a rootin, tootin, dynamite shootin outlaw. While abilities tags in Destiny 2 aren't remarkably hard, a class focused around explosions and quick thinking sounds like a lot of fun, and enabling that sounds like the ideal way to go for when you're not quick-drawing your enemies.
