    Bungie Day 2021

    Source: https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/50460

Happy Bungie Day, everyone! You know how it's awkward when it's your birthday and you are having to open presents while a bunch of people watch you. Then people begin singing... and you just want to escape out of a window? That's kind of what this is like for us. We wish we were pretentious enough to make up a holiday dedicated to ourselves, but looking back, we like to use this opening paragraph to anxiously explain that we would never do something like that.

Bungie Day was created by our amazing community long, long ago because of something to do with our weird fixation on the number seven. So here we are on the seventh day of the seventh month celebrating our still-amazing community and the years of action-packed memories forged in the worlds we've created. Without you, this world wouldn't feel as bright as it does.

Between the charity initiatives you've supported and constant comradery we see on display throughout social media and in-person events, we can safely say that every day with this community is a gift. You've been a beacon of hope, a source of joy, a ferocious beast hellbent on wearing a raid boss's ass as a hat, and so much more. Thank you for everything you've done, and everything you will do in the future.

    Coming Soon

This morning, we sent out a save the date for next month. We hope you can join us on August 24 for some exciting news about the future of Destiny. These are our favorite times, and we look forward to sharing more with you, but for now... no spoilers.

    Bungie Foundation - Giving Campaign

Time and time again, this community has been a powerhouse for good. With every charity initiative, you smash records and fill hearts across the globe. Today, we're excited to announce the Bungie Foundation Giving Campaign.

Bungie Foundation: Bungie Day is upon us! We are so grateful for each of you who have chosen to be a part of this incredible community. You have demonstrated time and time again that your passion goes beyond the digital spaces of Destiny and reaches out to every corner of our world through your kindness and compassion. You truly are the driving force behind all the good work we at Bungie seek to do for the people and world around us through the Bungie Foundation.

We focus our efforts on three core pillars:

    • Improving children's health and wellbeing
    • Uplifting the voices and rights of all individuals and communities
    • Providing humanitarian aid in times of crisis

By donating to the Bungie Foundation's Giving Campaign between July 7 and July 20 at 11:59 PM PDT, you are helping us make an impact in each of these areas – from our iPads for Kids Program to helping communities impacted by a natural disaster, you are changing lives and proving that the Bungie community is the best there is.

This has been an unprecedented year of hardships for so many around the world, including many of you. Thank you for leaning into your friendships and shared passions to lift each other up and support each other when it was needed the most. And yet, there is so much work to do. Please help us by donating today.

As a thank you for your donation, we are excited to offer you several incredible in-game items:

$10+: 2020 "The Bungie Foundation" emblem

Notes: To be eligible for the in-game items listed above, donations must be made to this campaign between July 7 and July 20 at 11:59 PM PDT. Unique redemption code(s) will be emailed to you on Thursday, July 29th following the completion of the fundraiser. One redemption code per item, per email for qualifying donations.

    Early Presents

Our in-game updates went live yesterday, but we're guessing you don't mind getting the good stuff a day early. For anyone stumbling upon this Bungie Day post who hasn't heard yet, we launched our mid-Season update yesterday and our Solstice of Heroes event kicked off.

    Video Link

It's that special time of year when Guardians travel to European Aerial Zone to earn their Solstice armor and get their glow on. You can get the full scoop on our Solstice of Heroes page.

We also had Vault of Glass Master difficulty go live yesterday and a mid-Season shake-up of the weapon sandbox. For the full details check out last week's TWAB and our patch notes for Update 3.2.1.

    Bungie Store Sale

In honor of Bungie Day we are running a sale on the Bungie store! You can expect to save up to 50% off select merchandise. Who says you can't look good both in and out of the game?

    Image Linkimgur

Everyone who makes a purchase on the Bungie Store from now until the end of July 13 will receive an exclusive "Bungie Day 2021" emblem.

In the mood for some arts and crafts? We have a special papercraft character bundle of Crow, Eris Morn, and Drifter you can create. Just go download the free kit, print and fold a new friend to perch up on your desk.

    Bungie Memories

One thing we wanted to do around Bungie Day this year is reflect on the past. It's hard to believe that Bungie has been making games for 30 years now. We know many of you have amazing stories of the epic moments and friendships forged through our games over the years. We would love to hear them!

We would like videos of you telling your story about your favorite Bungie memories. It could be your favorite Bungie game, a Bungie related event you attended, or a positive interaction with a Bungie employee you had. Doesn't have to be Destiny, you can reminisce about high-intensity Halo LAN parties or show your age by talking about how you played Pathways into Darkness on your Mac in 1993. Maybe it was that time when you bought the first copy of Halo 3 from Bill Gates?

If you want to share your story, just post your video on either Twitter, Instagram, or... we guess TikTok, too, with #BungieMemories. Try to keep them somewhat brief and under one minute. We are going to pick a few we like and use them for something special in the future.

Quick Note: By using this #BungieMemories or #BungieDayArt, you are submitting content to Bungie. When you submit content to Bungie, you agree to the Bungie Services Terms of Use, which also means you're promising us that you have the right to upload that content, that we can freely use it, and you agree that your submission follows our Code of Conduct.

    Bungie Day Art Show

Similar to the Bungie Memories above, we are also putting a call out to all our extremely talented community artists to create artwork centered around your favorite Bungie games. Same thing as before, this can be Destiny related or from any games we have worked on. Share your art on Twitter or Instagram using #BungieDayArt and we will pick out our favorites and use them along with the Bungie memories videos mentioned above.

    One More Thing

Before we wrap up, we had one more gift for you to commemorate the seventh day of the seventh month. We made a Spicy Ramen emblem and it's available now for everyone who wants it. You don't have to buy anything, it's totally free! Are you surprised? Maybe, maybe not.

Either way, we know it's a small token, but we hope you enjoy the noodles.

    Image Linkimgur

    YRC-C3D-YNC

Sign in to your Bungie.net account, head to the Redeem Codes page, and use the code above for the sweet new emblem.

That about wraps up our Bungie Day post. Before we go, we want to thank you for consistently being an amazing community. We truly love getting to make games for you and hope you have enjoyed playing them over the last 30 years as much as we have enjoyed making them.

    Happy Bungie Day!

The Witch Queen campaign better not consist of the same “Take out X number of villains’ generals/commanders/trusted associates”

    Posted: 07 Jul 2021 07:24 PM PDT

It's getting boring now. Please make DLC story with actual flow, not the same structure of taking out goons and then a short boss fight. It was absolutely laughable to listen to a random eliksni captain read out the names of the literal gods we've killed and then act like they even stood a chance against us.

Bungie, thank you for showing us where the chests are at the end of the EAZ

    Posted: 07 Jul 2021 04:41 AM PDT

Finding those chests was my least favorite part of the EAZ. It wasn't fun. It was annoying to miss out of rewards that you had earned. By leaving the beacons up at the end of the encounter, you make it so it's almost guaranteed that the team can track them all down. Nice QoL improvement.

I just realize that Shaxx is the only vendor in the tower that I care about that did not get featured in any season or expansion or had any relevance to the story

    Posted: 07 Jul 2021 01:36 PM PDT

Zavala and Ikora had a lot of relevance to the overall story

Drifter had his season and played a role in Arrivals

Banshee had a part in Beyond Light and Forsake

    Ada had her season

Amanda played a part in Chosen

And Saint played a part in Dawn and Spilcer

You’re guaranteed to get an Explosive Payload/Firefly on your Timelost Fatebringer.

    Posted: 07 Jul 2021 09:45 AM PDT

Let me explain: the Timelost weapons have additional swappable perk nodes like ritual weapons do. This week is the Hezen Vengeance, which will always have Overflow/Cluster Bomb because that is it's curated roll. Fatebringer's curated roll is Explosive Payload/Firefly, so that means you won't have to grind for that roll.

Imagine a roll that has Tunnel Vision and Kill Clip, so you have a god roll for PvP/PvE O_O

Hello! Got something extra for y'all this week with Solstice of heroes re-releasing yesterday!

Video explanation above but if you prefer to just read, here ya go:

You can make your own copy of the spreadsheet and use it as a personal checklist by clicking File > Make a Copy > (Optional) Give it a name > OK.

The first page shows all requirements for all pf the armor sets. The 2nd page named "order" shows all requirements in a list format, with a recommended order showing which activities to do to get as many birds with 1 stone as possible. The (0) step in each of the order columns shows all of the objectives that are not activity specific aka objectives you can do while you do steps 1 through X.

1 thing that I forget to mention in the video is FINISH A COMPLETE SET BEFORE MOVING ON TO THE NEXT. Finishing sets unlocks a buff from eva that increases the speed at which you complete subsequent sets!

As always, if you have any questions at all, drop them down below and I will do my best to help!

    Good luck!

    Artifact power needs to stop

    Posted: 07 Jul 2021 06:02 AM PDT

I'm 1339 with a +19, I stopped grinding bounties because I don't enjoy doing them and I didn't think I'd need to be higher than 1335 for GMs. I load into master VoG today and shit hurts, granted I can still do my side without too much trouble, however this isn't the case for my friends that don't grind bounties and play destiny 2 like it's their job! I'm sorry but it is not good game design to have to spend 50+ hours grinding bounties just to play some difficult activities without being slammed! I love the difficult content, not the prerequisites. Why couldn't we just be capped at 1330 power or have our artifact bonus taken away like in trials and be 1320 in a 1330 or 1340 zone. The bounty grind is even worse when I know that I'll have to restart next season! I just want to play the game, grinding bounties isn't difficult, it just sucks.

Considering champions are the new "Hard Mode" for almost everything in game and not the mechanics (which earlier used to be). We need much more permanent in built champions disruptor on abilities and exotic weapons.

    Posted: 07 Jul 2021 10:03 PM PDT

After playing the MASTER version of VoG it's clear that bungie is now more focussed on synthetic difficulty. Increase the power level of enemies beyond the reach of maximum population and just throw each and every champion in it. BOOM you got hard mode, master mode, corrupted mode whatever you want to call it. People who have played D1 raids and even leviathan they must be knowing what i am talking about. It was NOT FUN doing master VoG (we were all conquerors, Raid titles guys and still we were struggling. everyone was pissed off many just rage quitted) . People always argue not all content is meant for everybody and all that. Well then this post aint for you i suppose .
I know nothing will change as bungie has embraced this mode of increasing difficulty. So let us give much more choices to deal with these champions other than just few artifact mods.

Happy Bungie Day! Here’s a photo of the King’s Fall armor I made for myself

    Posted: 07 Jul 2021 11:57 AM PDT

I made this cosplay entirely myself a while back, and it's still one I'm very proud of. I built all of the armor out of EVA foam and all the fabric parts were patterned and sewn by me as well. For anyone wondering, the armor is the fully ornamented Age of Triumph set from King's Fall with the Bones of Eao instead of the regular boots, and the Shimmer shader.

Bungie's definition of hard content is getting out of hand

    Posted: 07 Jul 2021 08:16 AM PDT

    Dear bungie,

Credit is due where credit is due. Vault of Glass was a great addition to the game and from my perspective, relatively well altered for Destiny 2. Adding some difficulty where it was needed and little changes to the mechanics to freshen the vault up. But, with the latest addition to the game in the shape of the Master variant do we see the recurring problems with the design philosophy pop its head out. I will try to illustrate the problems as accurately as possible below:

Apparently, difficulty in the dictionary of the devs at bungie translates to small combatants nearly OHK players just like every other type of combatant does in the so called "hard content". The problem with this type of difficulty is that it is not engaging, mind numbing, frustrating and hard to play around in a damage phase scenarios. What happened to mechanical difficulty and enemy density? why does making hard content always include one shotting combatants while such damage output should only be reserved to the boss? A good example is the opening of the vault where you're either blown to bits by cyclopses or shutdown by overload champions and snipers from across the map.

the other problem is availability to the average Joe. right now Master vault of glass is locked away behind artifact levels. the effect of this is that a players has to play farming simulator first before he can attempt the challenging content. Challenging content SHOULD NOT be locked behind a ridiculous level requirement above the original pinnacle cap and this should specifically count for raids which are one of the main selling points of Destiny. Instead, try to attain difficulty by looking beyond someones level and more to someone's skill.

How could bungie go about fixing this? I would advise ditching the OHK practices and instead increase enemy spawns to introduce pressure that requires efficient clearing instead of hiding to not get one shot. a slight increase to their health pool isn't a big deal as long as minors don't start feeling like majors. Mechanics should be altered like they were in D1 and prestige leviathan way back when. mechanical difficulty is widely more preferred than getting your head smashed in by a harpy that shoots with the power of multiple suns. Also, make the raid more accessible to casuals. catering to the streaming community that can spend days on the game upping their level to astronomical heights is probably the worst thing you can do to your average player. challenge doesn't mean high level if you make it that way.

sorry for the long post but I feel like bungie is losing out on so much potential. I just want this game to be the best it can be and these are some of my views on this.

    Regards,

    A concerned Guardian

TL:DR: difficulty shouldn't be based on EXP grinding and OHK enemies but on intrinsic difficulty.

The Dreaming City loot grind is so bad that no one is talking about how the new weapons reissued with patch 3.2.1 are bugged and not dropping because bad rng is expected in D.C.

    Posted: 07 Jul 2021 07:14 PM PDT

So if you go to light gg right now you can see that the new perks added to the Twilight Oath and Tigerspite have a 0.0% usage rate. Abide the Return has a 0.1 usage percent on the new perks.

But surely someone should have earned a Twilight Oath or Tigerspite with new perks If they are indeed dropping right? I did some research and I've heard if you are on a new account you can still earn a single drop of the weapons to fill your collection which could explain the 0.1 percent for the Abide the Return.

So It's clear that there is some bug preventing them from dropping yet I see no one addressing this. No youtubers have made videos yet and Bungie is probably hoping no one has noticed yet if they themselves are even aware at this point.

So this leads me to the point of my post. I believe it is a lack of farmability that keeps people from going into any dreaming city activities.

I love Waking Vigil and prefer it over Pali because I think the perk pool is better. I've never had a Retold Tale worth using drop for me and I've always wanted one but it wasn't enough for me to warrant actually putting myself through the very dull and demoralizing grind that is the Dreaming City.

Twilight Oath returning has changed that for me though. It was my favorite sniper and although it has me ready to step foot back into D.C. I do think that the majority of players aren't enticed enough to invest in this grind. My reasonings are

    • Waking Vigils poor range stat compared to Pali

•Shotgun nerfs making Retold Tales less desirable

•Twilight Oath having low zoom and low body damage makes people who crutch on AA view this sniper as a bad option

Sure these weapons have their weaknesses but I don't believe that's what the true problem is here.

The real problem is no one likes spending 2 days doing all the activities that will reward them gear just to get nothing but armor and being loot locked for another week. That is the true killer of this grind Imo.

My suggestion is a farmable blind well or shattered throne. All reissued gear should be easily obtainable in good faith to the community who already earned their god rolls.. unless of course Bungie isn't about doing things in good faith amiright?

    Master VoG makes no sense...

    Posted: 07 Jul 2021 12:36 PM PDT

It is called 'Master' but does not match the same power level of the other 'Master' level activities - For example, Master Nightfalls and Lost Sectors are 1340.

1350 - Getting to Artifact level 20 is somewhat achievable by most, but 30 is pretty out of reach for any normal person. Even many streamers and youtubers don't get to this point. This is the equivalent of about season pass rank 500.

    • In Season of Arrivals - the longest season we have had, and the one I played the most, like damn near everyday, I only managed to get to about SR 390, so unless you play the game 12 hours a day, 7 days a weeks, you are not getting to 1350.

Why was it not just called 'GrandMaster VoG' and implemented the same 1335 cap with contest mode. This would have made much more sense, been a sensible grind, and made the challenge the same for everyone, no matter your power level.

Also, what happens next season? Will VoG be at the same +30 requirement and need an absurd bounty farm to even attempt? Just make it work like GM Nightfalls - the system is already in the game and works soooo much better than this.

And I think I can speak for all Destiny players when I say this - the last thing we wanted was MORE bounty farming simulator. Stop the absurdity of the XP and just make the activities difficult. I want to be challenged, not forced to farm Moon bounties for 3 weeks before even stepping foot into the raid...

How to beat FALLEN S.A.B.E.R. on GRANDMASTER difficulty explained in about 6 minutes!

    Posted: 07 Jul 2021 10:29 AM PDT

    Video : https://youtu.be/zG_ChKGQX7o

Hello! Happy to bring you your weekly short grandmaster nightfall guide!

With only 5 total elemental shields in the entire strike, Fallen Saber is one of the easiest nightfalls to have freedom with your loadout. That doesn't mean its easy though! The key in this one is patience and target prioritization in the warsat area! If enemies are alive, dont stand in the circle! Additionally, those ship turrets are #1!!!

Well of radiance kicks so much butt in this NF allowing you to hit enemy snipers through a barrier servitor immunity. I consider it a must have personally. Boss room seems really rough, but the spots I show in this video make it a piece of cake!

As always, if you have any questions at all, drop them down below and I will do my best to help!

Please make all adept weapon mods available from completing Grandmaster Nightfalls

    Posted: 07 Jul 2021 08:40 AM PDT

Currently, only a subset of the adept weapon mods are available from completing GMs. The rest are only available via Trials (flawless runs, I believe). Heck, this season you can now get an adept fusion rifle from GMs, but you can't get Adept Charge Time, a mod specifically for adept fusion rifles, via GMs. It only drops from Trials. Bungie, please make all mods available from completing GMs (don't forget Adept Icarus Grip!).

EDIT: To be clear, what I'm asking for is any Adept mod can be earned whenever Adept weapons can be earned, regardless of whether the activity is PVP or PVE.

All that work for extreme bullet sponge enemies and taking ~150% more dmg to just get a +10 stats on a weapon or high stat roll is not worth it. Gm's are far more rewarding with adept weapons, mods and loot if you want adept gear. It seems the incentive for the raid is just for seals and for those who like to punish themselves.

Hey remember that one time when Bungie was like "Grinding bounties sucks!" so they released Weekly Seasonal Challenges to mitigate that bounty grind?

Only to release a "Master" version of the raid where in order to get close to level you need to... grind bounties?

Yeah that was a good time.

Solstice is a great opportunity to use your favorite sunset PvE gear.

I know technically the dungeons and the playlist strikes don't stop you from using those old beaters that you loved and have thousands of kills on, but I brought out my Ringing Nail for the first time in a while and it's been a blast from the past. It's gotten more miles today than it had since they reintroduced gnawing hunger. Damn I forgot how much fun a dragonfly Auto was, and it made the solar steps of the grind easy. Anyway, my point is, since the EAZ is 1100, bust out those old guns and let them have a blast while it lasts. Remember what guns made you love this game.

THANK YOU BUNGIE FOR NOT INCLUDING TRIALS IN THE SOLSTICE ARMOR

Big shoutout to bungie for not including any god damn Trials of Osiris!

Furthermore, they included many "this or that" objectives such as "Complete Blind Well in the Dreaming City OR Wrathborn Hunts"

And finally, every activity can be completed by my free to play friends! I made a post about this last year and they actually did it!

    Happy Solstice!
