    Trials of Osiris is LIVE

This thread is for all general discussion, questions, thoughts, musings, wonderings, etc. for the Trials of Osiris.

    FAQ

    What is Trials of Osiris?

    • Trials of Osiris is the pinnacle PvP activity. Every Weekend, the best players compete in 3v3 Elimination for one goal: Go Flawless.

    • To start, head to Saint-14 in the Tower Hangar and buy one of the possible passages (see below).

    • To reach Flawless and get to the Lighthouse, you need to win 7 matches without losing one.

    • It uses Win Based Matchmaking, which means you'll face teams with a similar amount of wins on their card. Matches will get harder as you win more matches.

    • There is NO fireteam matchmaking. You need to team up yourself!

    • Power Level matters, however bonus power from the artifact is not enabled.

How Long do the Trials of Osiris last?

    • Event Starts: Every Friday at Daily Reset (1700 UTC).

    • Event Ends: Following Tuesday at Weekly Reset (1700 UTC).

Where do I go to find Guardians to compete with in the Trials?

    • You can head over to /r/Fireteams, www.The100.io, Xbox LFG system, DestinyLFG.net or DestinyLFG.com, or go to the Bungie.net recruitment forum (also available through the Bungie App).

What if I have a question about another piece of armor/weapon or general Trials question?

    • Use Control + F (Or Command + F if on a Mac) and search for keywords in your question. Someone may have asked it already. If they haven't ask right below.

I Feel the Priority of Destiny's Development has Shifted from Creating a Unique, Memorable Experience to Inflating Playtime At-All-Costs... and it Feels Pretty Shitty.

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 04:24 PM PDT

While the story changes are welcome and appreciated, I can't help but feel like a chump every time I boot up the game.It feels like Wolf of Wall Street McConaughey is riding shotgun telling me my 1700 hours on PC alone are "rookie numbers".

Queue the obligatory "validate me" stuff-

I've been around since the D1 AlphaBetablahblahblah. I've seen the highs of the Age of Triumph and the lows of D2Y1 (which I actually enjoyed well enough).

What I've noticed is that I have never felt such a need to play so much, yet felt the least amount of joy while actually playing, as I have now.

The ceaseless season pass grind is getting stale. What's the point? Sure, GMs exist, but I'd argue that their delayed release and arbitrarily better weapon stats compared to non-adept weapons don't justify the grind. Master VoG? Gotta get to an immense season pass level to even consider it. And for what? Timelost weapons are on a specific weekly rotation instead of an flat drop rate, so people must wait and come back on the week their desired weapon is dropping. The biggest draw for me is the damn ship, and I only have to clear it once to get it! It. Doesn't. Make. Sense.

FoTL, Solstice of Heroes, the Dawning, all rehashed content from years prior with minimal adjustments (save the stuff in the EV store), that encourage us to do what? GRIND EXISTING CONTENT. I'm doing the same shit in Solstice of Heroes that I did THREE YEARS AGO. Come on man...

The reissued weapons from DC and Moon have been the last straw. It leaves a sour taste in my mouth to spend more time grinding the same activities I did years ago to receive the same god rolls I already had- but wait! The new perk pools are significantly worse.

I'm sure there are a multitude of other examples of inflated playtime that I'm missing here... but I believe I've made my point. It just hurts because I LOVE THIS GAME. I've been hooked up to the Bungie titty for a good part of my life. I'm just now feeling less valued as a player.

I do understand that developing IP of this scale costs MONEY, and active players are more likely to buy MTX, but the decisions made by Bungie as of late make me feel as if the player is more of a cow to be milked than a respected part of a community that supports and plays their game.

(Opinion) End game will never have great loot unless the community accepts not everyone will get it

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 04:59 AM PDT

Just my personal opinion. TL:DR - loot isn't special because the community isn't ready to accept that they may not get it. Bungie doesn't want to ruffle feathers by putting special drops in things the average player will not engage with or complete.

Edit: some people are falsely claiming this post is asking for broken weaponry and coming from a place of elitism. This is typical of the community and why we can't have any real discussion about end game loot.

Preface: I am a middling PVP player who has never came close to trials adept weapons. My forte is PVE specifically. I willingly accept not achieving end game pvp loot until I'm good enough to achieve it.

End game content/loot is essentially neutered due to the "leave no one behind" philosophy of Bungie. While there are occasional pieces of loot that are worth it, a lot of them aren't related to particularly hard content (before you say, yes difficulty is subjective). It's mostly a case of finding yourself a fireteam and spending enough time in the activity to get the correct roll.

A common complaint is that things aren't fair for solo players, or that it's not fair that content is locked behind end game. Why not? Most of the content is pretty comparable to stuff you can earn elsewhere, which leaves end game in this situation where it's just barely worth it for those that engage in it.

I feel like the community has to accept that not everybody will be able to earn everything, because otherwise there's little point to end game beyond sheer enjoyment of the extra challenge, or a special emblem or title.

Players should be pushed out of their comfort zone to not only improve as a player, but also reap the rewards as well. This is a way to introduce truly special drops that display how you were able to apply yourself and get the job done.

Edit: potential rewards could be ornaments for armor or weapons, and/or weapons not available anywhere else (I.e not the adept system) but function similar to weapons available elsewhere.

Overload Champions/mods need some serious reworking.

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 05:32 PM PDT

Anti-barrier is perfect. You shoot the champion, it breaks the shield, and the champion stuns.

Unstoppable is pretty good, ads for a short moment and fire to stun the champion.

Overload is miserably horrible. Not only are the overload champions all the enemies that can teleport over and over with no cool down, but the overload mods don't even stun them consistently. It takes half a mag of smg ammo or several hand cannon shots to stun the champion, and by that point they are already teleporting around. On top of that, if you aren't constantly hitting overloads with your overload weapon, it will regen its health ridiculously fast. This is one of the reasons why no matter what happens to anarchy next season, I'm still running it, just so I can damage ocerloads and keep shooting with my overload primary.

The only good overload options are divinity and Overload bow from last season, simply for the fact that they are instant overload stunners. All overload mods should work instantly like these two do.

I love getting blue gear from solstice package, thank you bungie!

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 01:35 PM PDT

Solstice is literally the best event I have ever experienced in destiny 2. There's nothing more statisfying than farming EAZ, which is a map created 4 years ago, over and over, and then getting blue gears from a small number of packages I get for opening dozens of chests.

I feel like my time is finally valued and I can't wait to farm EAZ again. Thanks bungie!

I really hope the witch queen adds some strikes

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 09:27 AM PDT

It was awesome getting a new strike and two reprised ones in season of the chosen. We only got one with Beyond Light as well as one reprised one. Whether we love it or not, the endgame right now consists of GM's and the new master raid. More strikes give our endgame a lot more variety.

Timelost VOG weapons have different flavor text than the non-Timelost versions. Some of them are pretty cool.

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 04:04 PM PDT

While the Fatebringer one sounds super dumb, other ones are pretty awesome:

Fatebringer: Delivering the inevitable, one pull at a time.

Fatebringer (Timelost): But where is your fate, and who brings it to you?

Praedyth's Revenge: Praedyth's fall isn't over… because it hasn't happened yet… and it will happen again.

Praedyth's Revenge (Timelost): Praedyth will never fall.

Vision of Confluence: What you have seen will mark you forever.

Vision of Confluence (Timelost): In the abyss of time, all the lines converge… upon you.

    Found Verdict: Witness.

    Found Verdict (Timelost): Guilty.

Corrective Measure: It breaks the rules of reality as ruthlessly as it shatters your foes.

Corrective Measure (Timelost): A full measure annihilates the rules of reality.

Hezen Vengeance: The Hezen Axis Mind is tireless and infinite. While it cannot be stopped… it can be paused.

Hezen Vengeance (Timelost): The Hezen Axis Mind is tireless and infinite. Tireless and infinite. Tireless and infinite…

Just thought i'd share as I haven't seen anybody talking about them. I believe they are from the perspective of after we beat the Vault of Glass.

Damage + Reload will be the meta forever until Bungie creates perks worth using.

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 08:11 AM PDT

    Title.

Damage + reload is what I look for on a good 80% of weapons. Why is that? It's cause a large (overwhelming) amount of perks serve almost zero purpose.

What's happened to the Moon & Dreaming City weapons was criminal and clearly they had intention with their decisions since they never said they were changing all the perks only that they were adding. This in itself would've been fine, but instead they've slaughtered classic weapons that the community loves.

"Oh? You want to play with your awesome Outlaw + Explosive Payload Loud Lullaby?? Oh we're bringing it back, you can't use that roll you have sitting in your vault you can use the NEW AND IMPROVED one!"

    Give me a break.

We need more conditional perks. Period.

Rapid Hit is one of my favourite perks in the game - why? Cause it rewards you for hitting precision hits. It's a feedback loop of "I'm doing good, my gun is getting better as I slay out"

    We need more of that.

This post is referring to PVE not PVP, as there's obvious winners in the PVP scene like QuickDraw/Snapshot/etc.

Devour Melee shouldn’t be eaten if Devour is currently active

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 12:44 PM PDT

Title. It's just a minor annoyance that the enemy I was going to kill with a melee anyway and refresh my devour will consume the melee.

Not the biggest issue, but it would be nice if the Devour Melee only activated if Devour was not active.

Don't dismantle/dismantle for infusion Magnificent Solstice gear. Without completing the quest. You wont be able to get them back.

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 07:20 PM PDT

So I was an idiot and accidentally dismantled for infusion the gloves for the Solstice Magnificent Gloves before I finished the quest. I can't get another pair from Eva, she doesn't sell them, and I can't pull from collection because "Random Stats" (God forbid Bungie lets us pull armor at 40 Stats and 1100 Light Level.)

The timer on the dismantle for infusion is the standard 2 seconds, instead of the 10 that it is in the inventory (This should be addressed as-well)

My main problem is, I've currently opened around 50+~ Solstice boxes, and I've YET to receive a pair of Gloves, or Helm. (The two that I have yet to complete.) However I have received a lot of the other ones that I have.

Not only this, I just spent the last 4+ hours grinding another set of Majestic Gear (Because you can pull this) in hopes to be able to meditate again, and to re-receive the Magnificent Gear, but nope, that doesn't work either.

So yeah, don't be an idiot like me.

You do NOT need to be wearing the legendary Solstice armor pieces to earn their glows

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 08:14 AM PDT

I just finished a Master nightfall wearing Nezarec's Sin and still unlocked the glow for the Solstice helm. I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, or if I had some one-off fluke, but this should make doing the rest of the pieces significantly simpler.

If anyone is willing to test it - do you need to be wearing your class armor piece for the kills against Champions to count?

Dear Bungie, please give me a way to turn Vanguard tokens directly into legendary shards.

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 01:12 PM PDT

I have no interest in spending several hours turning in my thousands of Vanguard tokens and immediately dismantling every item I receive. Just give me a button at Zavala to press that will immediately exchange a thousand at a time for shards, or planetary materials, or enhancement cores, or whatever else.

I would be shocked if I'm the only person who feels this way.

Even if only for a little bit, I’m happy Blind Well is relevant again.

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 04:21 AM PDT

I forgot how much fun it is to load into there and see six other people and then just absolutely decimate the closest thing we have to a horde mode.

The boss fights are just an absolute chaotic blast and the ability to have so many super uses just brings me some joy.

I'm not going to recommend any future content being similar to this or whatever, just want to appreciate Blind Well.

    Always loved it, always will.

    Rampage, Dragonfly, and Surrounded

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 01:47 PM PDT

The weapon mods for those three perks are such a waste. I don't mean that they aren't good, I mean it's a waste that you have to use a mod slot to make a perk viable. Granted rampage spec isn't super great, but for dragonfly and surrounded it's almost mandatory to make those perks viable.

Dragonfly weapon load outs have been enjoying this season thanks to Energy Accelerant, but that makes 2 mods required for a perk to be good, and it's still inferior to chain reaction. Surrounded is great for it's situations, but outside of soloing and trash clearing in gambit their aren't a lot of group activities that have situations where you will regularly be surrounded by enemies, but that's what makes the mod even more critical to making that perk viable.

I think they just update those perks to naturally include benefits of the mods, and drop weapon mods that improve specific perks. Weapon mods should be more targeted to the base weapon functionality, not supplementing perks that should better but aren't because of "balancing".

Can we have a story recap for New Lights?

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 03:16 PM PDT

Something similar to the comic-style cutscene of Zavala's near assassination or Mithrax's retelling of "The Saint" that details the story of Destiny 2 (and maybe Destiny 1) that plays as a cutscene for New Lights would greatly improve their experience. I have a lot of friends who have been willing to give the game a try, but when I have to tell them "Here's what you missed." they feel dissuaded.

On the one hand, I understand from the perspective of a new Guardian not having their memories that they wouldn't know. But from the perspective of a player, it feels disorientating to be thrown in with no explanation of who or what anything is.

Even something as simple as explaining who Ghaul was, what he did to the city, and the Guardians' triumphs since the beginning of Destiny 2 would improve the New Light experience.

Also this is personal opinion, but if this is done, the narrator should be our Ghost. Thank you.

For the hunter poison super, they need something defensive

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 09:19 PM PDT

Titan main here, Most classes have a good pve super. Titans have bubble. Warlocks have well. These protective/ buffing supers allow them to be useful in stuff like GMs and raids. The best pve super hunters have is a tether, which does nothing for protection. Golden gun is ok for damage, but all attack and no defense. They have to rely on seasonal mods to come out (like focusing lens) to make them useful in stuff.

All I ever see in lfg posts is people asking for stasis loc, welloc, or chaos reach. Or bubble titan. If hunters had good defensive stuff, then they wouldn't be so left out and undesirable in end game pve. Which I believe would help balance the game just a bit more and help resolve class in equality
