It cracks me up how, over the span of the franchise, we've come to accept Bungies naming convention for gear

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 01:32 PM PDT

Just the way in which they go about setting a name for weapons, armor, and whatnot never stops being amusing me. If I told you there was a Scout Rifle in the game called, "Skip to My Lou", you'd probably be like, "Yeah, I can see that being a thing." Or some Fusion Rifle called, "A Bad Hangover".

Chad Destiny Player: Uses Anarchy, Breach and Clear, and Cuirass of the Falling Star on Quria

Also Chad Destiny Player: "This boss fight took 30 seconds wtf Bungie."

    Ridiculous.

Just because an enemy isn’t made a raid or dungeon boss, that doesn’t mean they were treated badly.

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 05:51 AM PDT

Okay this is kinda a rant, but something needs to be said about unrealistic expectations, and misapplication of lore!!!

First on unrealistic expectations. To everyone complaining the fight with Quria was "easy"….. ITS A FREAKIN STORY MISSION NOT A GM NIGHTFALL!!!! Story missions are made to be accessible to all players no matter of their level of skill.

Now for misapplication of lore. To everyone complaining that Quira died easily and how she was soooooooo powerful….. You are wrong.

Just because a character is somewhat unique and has lore relevancy, that doesn't make them some Uber powerful end game threat. Let's look at Quira's background.

    • Created by the Vex to understand the rules of the ascendant realm when they invaded Oryx Throne world

    • Taken by Oryx but with a smidgen of free will given to it

    • Gifted to Savathun by Oryx

    • Controls Taken by simulating Oryx

Okay that's done. Someone might incorrectly thing that Quira must be super strong. Not really. Quira is still just a Vex mind. We have killed….. a lot of those

But she's taken! Yes she is…. She's also not the first Taken Vex mind we killed.

    • Sekrion, Subverted Mind
    • Morphon, Blighted Mind
    • Seditious Mind

Those 3 in particular are Hydras but there are plenty of taken Vex Minds. Remember a Vex mind doesn't just mean "Hydra".

So Quira's status as a taken Mind isn't special. But she has some free will left, just like Riven! Okay let's discuss that and why they aren't comparable.

Riven, the last known Ahamkara, a paracausal wish dragon. She aided Mara Sov in building the Dreaming City, and after Mara's death, she was taken by Oryx but left with a bit of free will.

The difference between Riven and Quria? Agency.

Riven was an individual. She had her own thoughts, motivations, and feelings. Quira is Vex. A part of a collective. Quira being left with free will, does not mean she will suddenly act differently than a Vex would. A Vex with free will is still a slave to Vex purpose.

But she can take! Without her there can be no more Taken!

Quira takes by SIMULATING Oryx, she herself as no such power. Do you really think Savathun would just let us take this from her? The same Savathun who has learned Necromancy from Nokris?

Finally and most importantly, for people complaining that Quira wasn't made a raid or Dungeon boss.

Quira isn't powerful enough to warrant that. Importance doesn't equal power. She was created to understand Hive behavior and their realms. She wasn't in charge of a prediction engine like Panoptes, in charge of terraforming a planet like Argos, or in charge of the Vault of Glass like Atheon.

Quira has been a background character as long as she has existed. She was given proper story relevance, a fun fight, and then dealt with by us. Someone who has killed things FAR more powerful than her. Quira was always just a pawn.

And with Bungie's current track record of exceptional story telling, I am confident we will see the repercussions of her defeat soon to come.

TLDR: Quira was dealt with properly, stop confusing lore relevancy with being super powerful.

Grandmasters should have a guaranteed adept drop

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 04:04 PM PDT

Hey Bungie, can we just auto-complete the stasis quests on second and third characters?

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 06:05 AM PDT

I've been doing the stasis quests for my warlock as it's probably the best for GMs. But wow, doing these aspect quests again is just painful. It's not a fun grind, it's just boring. I haven't even done the campaign on my titan, dreading that.

Edit: Wow this blew up. Glad to see I'm not the only one who wants this. Cheers all!

Grenade kill bounties should have their kill requirement reduced from 25 to 10

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 09:02 PM PDT

in comparison to melee kill bounties, getting 25 grenade kills is much harder, due to the fact that grenades are more often than not, on cooldowns. Melees on the other hand, have no cool down at all. I always found that my grenade kill bounties took much much longer than the other bounties as well

Season of Dawn weapons were legit beautiful and I hope they get brought back from sunset.

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 02:36 PM PDT

Steelfeather repeater, Breach light, Line in the Sand were some of my favourite weapons to use and I was sad to see them become legacy.

The perks were nice too. A "firing line" perk Line in the Sand was actually decent boss DPS. Steel feather was a great kinetic rapid fire option with swashbuckler, breach light was nuts with any of its damage perks (outlaw multi kill clip was my favourite).

I hope they get the Seraph weapons treatment and return! That is all.

Dawnblade Projectiles need a slight DMG buff for PvE.

It doesn't feel great not being able to one shot a yellow bar Acolyte or yellow bar grunt with it still having 10% of its health left. Just give us enough damage to wipe out that yellow bar grunt in one projectile, please.

I think Bungie should keep incorporating major characters and events into storyline content.

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 07:08 AM PDT

For me, this season had by far the best storytelling this franchise has had in a long time (perhaps that's not exactly a hard thing to accomplish).

But it wasn't only because of the many intricate and great character interactions, but rather because the actual story felt grand and pivotal to the universe of Destiny.

That's why I tend to disagree with the complaints about reserving major characters for dungeons, raids, etc. — many of us only feel that way because Bungie's method of storytelling for the past 7 years has conditioned us to feel that way.

I'm not saying we should kill off characters like Savathun in a story mission, but simply that a story should showcase at least some crucial moments, characters and make the player feel like they're actually doing something worthwhile. This season was a great step in that direction.

We need more meaningful stuff for solo players to do in the "MMO" sandbox

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 09:04 PM PDT

I mostly play solo. Back in D1 and early D2 days, I enjoyed the hell out of free roaming, doing patrols, and doing public events with ransoms on the map. Part of the magic of Destiny was the random, serendipitous encounters where you got to work together with others without the need to LFG or have a clan.

Matchmaking activities just don't feel the same. Strikes are a set 10-15 mission that consists of three people basically going through the motions. Raids are great but so many people aren't able to get a 6-person FT together and dedicate 2-3 hours.

I want something consequential to do as a "drop-in" player. I wanna land on a planet and go from public event to lost sector to patrol to public event again, with the opportunity to earn some actually decent gear.

How to beat the INSIGHT TERMINUS on GRANDMASTER difficulty explained in about 5 minutes!

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 08:55 AM PDT

    Video : https://youtu.be/hDYP-aMKADg

Hello! Happy to bring you your weekly short grandmaster nightfall guide!

Insight Terminus and the season 14 artifact mods are a match made in heaven. Long range anti barrier options in scout rifles along with unstoppable mods being paired with massive DPS weapons like grenade launchers. The icing on the cake is of course breach and clear. Kargen is a bit tricky to hit with anarchy, but there are moments where his movements are very predictable like when he goes into the air to do his void psion blast where you can hit him easily!

As always, if you have any questions at all, drop them down below and I will do my best to help!

    Good luck!

Last Week made me realize: Gambit might actually be my favorite game mode in Destiny

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 03:55 PM PDT

It's such a good concept but is given even less love than Crucible(which at least gets Balance patches every Season instead of new maps and game modes).

I don't know what can be done to improve it, but it NEEDS something.

Did anyone look into the explosion at the end of the new expunge?

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 05:03 AM PDT

Sorry if this has been pointed out before. I have posted this in /r/destiny2

I don't know if the video is going to be good enough, but if anyone does it again, look up at the explosion, it's like a window into another world. I can't put my finger on what it looks like, I'll have to do it again. I believe what is flying away at the end is Quria?

    https://imgur.com/a/2x8KpxB

Edit: ok It might be a filter not being applied correctly. I'm not totally convinced because it looks like I can see through the wall behind the explosion at the beginning. And I don't think it matches the rest of the terrain that is in the expunge. But again, might be wrong and this is nothing.

Edit2: Yeah I tried to recreate the image and did not get the same thing. I am so sorry, this is probably nothing.

Entirely True Season of the Splicer Facts

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 08:19 AM PDT

The endless night was not much of a problem for those who live directly underneath the Traveler, as the shadow from it causes them to live in near perpetual gloom anyway. Thus, they were called upon to aid in therapy sessions for those who found it difficult to cope without sunlight.

Ikora and Osiris have never been closer, in no small part due to their research together and the shared belief in Mithraxx. They have even been observed laughing together, a sight not seen since before Osiris' exile.

Following Quria's death, city builders have begun arriving to the Eliksni quarter to build them better housing and some comforts such as running water, solid ceilings and better beds. The House of Light cannot show their gratitude enough, offering stuffed toys and technology as payment, but no builder has accepted, stating the Eliksni have already paid for their services.

Anti-Fallen graffiti had been put up nearly everywhere in the city, but the children of the last city have been covering them up with pictures of unity and compassion. Shaxx gave them the chalk and paint to do so.

Saladin has found it difficult to accept the Eliksni presence in the City, but trusted the Guardian over Ikora and Zavala to make the right call. He is happy to find that his distrust and apprehensiveness have been for nought.

Drifter and the House of Light do not seem to like each other. It could be the ponchos some of them wear, but it could also be because he used to eat hatchlings.

The Eliksni in the tower finally figured out how to access the cold drinks in the vending machine, and some have become thoroughly addicted to Cola-Coca. It seems to have a calming effect on them, they have been sighted loafing around and laughing at their own hands.

The 15th wish was discovered by a Guardian who entered an expunge mission. She nearly managed to escape and inform others of her discovery, only to then be captured by the Taken and held inside a blight. She is still there now, waiting for someone or something to release her.

Mithraxx has made friends with a Ghost called Tides, named so for her love of the water. She spent a great deal of time on Titan, certain she would find her Guardian there, but that feeling of certainty faded around two years ago. She doesn't seem too judgemental of the Eliksni, which is considered quite the oddity among other Ghosts.

One of Eido's hatchling's spoke their first word, "Saint", while reaching up to him. He took him gently, and the Hatchling has shown no intention of letting go. It's been three days. Not that Saint has any objections.

Zavala and Crow speak regularly in Zavala's office, alone. None know what is said behind those closed doors, but Crow always leaves with a look of uncomfortable knowledge. He is concerned Zavala is grooming him for the role of Hunter Vanguard. He's right.

Ada-1 was so certain she was doing the City a favour by partnering with Tess, but now... She's not so sure.

Lakshmi-2 is becoming less and less popular, even among her own followers, with some saying that with no way to verify what she has seen, she could simply be making her visions up in order to make a play for power, and she used the newly arrived Eliksni as a scapegoat in her own personal ambition. She has rejected that claim, but Dead Orbit in particular are keeping a close eye on her.

The Vex portals in override missions pass through the Pyramidion very briefly, almost as though they were a shortcut through the domain. If Asher were still with us, he would have found that fascinating.

Saint-14 has recently been sighted at the City tailor, wearing a frankly stunning suit with a top hat and bow tie.

Rahool hates the umbral decoder and has been trying to find a way to break it. Fortunately for us, he doesn't even know how to hold a screwdriver let alone break such a powerful piece of equipment.

Vex mythoclast catalyst. Get that catalyst quick once you open the portal

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 02:12 PM PDT

I recently joined a group on LFG because we all 6 needed the catalyst for the vex mythoclast. Had a great time doing it, was actually pretty easy to get, following a YouTube guide for the locations of the oracles.

The biggest tip I can give is to get everyone to the portal at the very end before destroying the final set of oracles. (the set that requires 4 waves worth, easy once you get the order. Just stand at portal and use a scout with the mod for oracles)

We had two guys who just Absolutely Sucked at jumping puzzles. They kept dying over and over and couldn't get to the portal on the far end. After about 15 minutes, they made it, but the portal closed. Could no longer see through it to the whisper side, and walking through it no longer awarded them the catalyst. I felt really bad for the 2 guys :/ I don't know how long it stayed open for exactly, but just be ready after the last wave is destroyed. Sorry if this has been posted before, but I don't want anyone else to get that far and then not get it.

A majority of the game does not feel rewarding.

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 09:20 PM PDT

Basically title, there is very few activities that feel rewarding to play. Lost sectors can take up to ten minutes to complete on a bad run and literally reward nothing. The hardest difficulty of NFs won't give you an adept guaranteed. Gambit has no real reason to play it, Strikes have nothing, Comp has no pinnacle weapons or loot. There is no real reason to play the game outside of the raid.

Penalties on void armor should be removed

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 08:50 PM PDT

    Title.

It makes no sense to have JUST the armor with void affinity be penalized. Even just looking at the two "Become Charged with Light" mods, the penalties seem really harsh for the archetypes of weapons used:

    • Precision Charge (bows, hand cannons, scout rifles): -10 Strength

    • Precisely Charged (linear fusions and snipers): -10 Discipline

When looking at the other two elemental affinities, Arc and Solar, the difference is really stark. Solar armor receives zero stat penalties, while Arc armor receives stat INCREASES. There's no contest when it comes to choosing what element your armor should be; the answer is almost always Arc.

TL;DR: Void armor is bad, Bungo pls fix.
