Just wanna say, thank you for changing the tone of destiny compared to when d2 came out.

The lore is so deep and beautifully written, and the world is as beautiful and expansive. Funny jokes here and there is cool to lighten the mood like with Saint saying he'll wear a suit and shit, but I feel it used to come at the cost of keeping me interested in the story and feel like it's something that is a threat to humanity to the point I never actually paid attention to the story before.

Since shadowkeep tho, I feel like story has slowly become the thing I look forward to more than anything. I appreciate that bungies writing team is utilizing their crazy world building and story telling to use instead of paying these highly talented writers and voice actors to make cringy lines.

    DMT is Inconsistent

    Posted: 26 Jul 2021 04:15 PM PDT

    Crossposting from https://old.reddit.com/r/CrucibleGuidebook/comments/os8wfj/dmts_hipfire_is_still_inconsistent/

The last time I made this people completely missed the point of the thread. This is not about whether or not DMT is strong, weak, deserved nerfs, didn't deserve nerfs. This is nothing to do with salt from usage or balance. This is about DMT either missing shots intentionally and bungie didn't tell anyone or DMT is glitched to fuck up its shots unintentionally. As a reminder from Bungie's patch notes regarding DMT they did two things.

"Removed hipfire damage falloff scalar (was 1.8x to match zoom). " and "Reduced Aim Assist cone angle hip scalar from 1.5 to 1.2. "

This means they changed how much the aim assist will drag bullets to enemies. This does not have anything to do with random bullet deviation, accuracy, or anything like that. It makes the bullets bend less than before and you can still clearly see what the actual aim assist cone is from the reticle.

I was told to provide more "concise" information and I'm not very skilled with video editing. But here it goes. Here's 4 more videos.

    https://imgur.com/UuZrfZt

The first clip is to show that DMT's accuracy cone doesn't expand at max fire rate. I slowed down the video to 50% and zoomed in. The reticle's inner circle is the ACCURACY cone the outer circle is the AIM ASSIST cone. You'll notice that neither of the cones move while I'm hipfiring at max speed.

    https://imgur.com/Ewr8ltQ

The second clip shows me using DMT outside of the hipfire's damage fall off. The first 2 shots crit and the other 5 miss. There was actually one other shot but the red banner goes right in front of the screen so I made a cut. Admittingly shots 5 and 6 are a little far to the left. Shots 3, 4, and 7 are admittingly on target but still missing.

    https://imgur.com/FkDL2tE

The third clip is trying to show what it looks like when the enemy and me are both strafing. This one is kind of hard to get consistently since we're not bots. I slowed it down to try and show it as best I could. Shot 1 is too far to the left and hits the shoulder. Shots 2 and 3 are dead on. Shot 4 looks a little funky but not nearly as bad as the first clip I posted from the thread that got taken down

You can see that one here https://imgur.com/a/uhiZlM3

There's no other standard primary (non standard primaries are things like fighting lion, skyburners, etc) that would have these weird hiccups while strafing that close to each other in a weapon's intended range. And before anyone says "but it's a scout rifle it's not supposed to be good at close range" DMT's exotic effects and identity are about using the hipfire up close accurately and reliably AND ADS'ing far away accurately and reliably.

    https://imgur.com/KxPB7JW

The last clip is showing the inconsistency and random bullet behavior from the just past the edge of the hipfire's range where damage fall off kicks in. This range is the edge where the damage can still reliably 3 tap if you hit all head shots from the hip. I shoot slower to let my aim fully reset without changing it. I'm letting the game reset my reticle as closely as possible to where the first shots are. I am also shooting at the very edge of the larger circle (the AIM ASSIST CONE) to prove that's the extent of the bullets bending to reach targets within range. The first 6 shots hit for bodyshots, then it crits, then it again straight misses twice in a row, then it crits 3 times in a row killing my friend. I haven't moved my aim at all and the gun displayed different behavior at random ranging from hits, crits, and misses.

Once again, this is not about whether or not DMT is over powered, weak, or anything of that nature. This is about the gun not working as intended, glitching, or in a worst case scenario bungie made the gun randomly miss on purpose without telling us. Please keep your salt and misinformation out this time.

In the Collections Section, show us ALL the possible perks for a specific weapon.

    Posted: 26 Jul 2021 05:57 AM PDT

I know we can go to Google and whatnot to find this out, but maybe some folks, like myself, have their console attached to the living room TV. And the computer is way across the house. Or some such. Anyway, seems like a handy way to check out what potential perks I can get for a weapon in between whatever I'm doing at the minute.

Seriously, what's the matter with Nightfall players this season?

    Posted: 26 Jul 2021 06:49 AM PDT

i can understand that this post may sound elitist, but i'm soo done with these people, i just want to have fun during NF. and watch out, long rant ahead.

i'm a veteran solo player so i use the bungie site or discord LFG to do NFs, and in the previous seasons i was able to find very good players, nothing incredible or pro players, but people with their head on the shoulders. now, for all this season, it has been a litteral ordeal to find even decents players, making almost impossible for me to do even 1310 NFs!

and please, you have to understand that with "bad players" i don't intend everybody that isn't at 1350 with gilded conqueror and capable of doing solo flawless every GM back to back, with that term i intend:

    • - people who refuse to equip at least one anti-champion mod because "you already have one lol, i don't need to equip it" or "this season's weapons aren't my favourite guns, so i don't use them"
    • - people who actively ignore champions and when called out say "we don't need to kill them, don't worry". have they never heard of CHAMPION REWORDS: PLATINUM?!?!
    • - people who use unstoppable GL and need to use AT LEAST 10 ammo just to stop ONE, SINGLE UNSTOPPABLE! for the love of the traveller, it's really that hard to hit one big target with a GL?? and if it is for you, WHY DON'T YOU USE UNSTOPPABLE SIDEARMS!?!?!?
    • - people who don't revive you even if you are at 20cm from them, but that's nothing new, am i right?
    • - people who don't know the mechanics of the strikes, like how to survive at the boss fight in Warden of Nothing, it's really that hard to go in cover????
    • - titants with Crownsplitter that go under unstoppable champions imagining to one shot him when he's NOT distrupted... what where you thinking would have happened, dear 1325 titan without energy accellerant? and after dying 4 times againist the same champion, didn't have you learned the lesson?
    • - people A LOT underlevelled that want's to do the 1340 NF. like, i can understand that Bungo is Satan and don't want you to complete the "best activities in the game" so they use ARtiFicIal DifFiCoulTy, but i would like to run a NF without having to revive you 100 times, thanks.

and i could go on for pages and pages, but i stop here. i want to underline that i'm not talking about people who are new to the game, i would never do that, but if you are 350 Seasonal level with gilded dredgen, i think you should be able to play a NF. am i asking to much? because if this continues, i will have to carry 3 anti champion mods in order to even get platinum rewards, and thats absurd and insane.

what's your experience? had you run into people like this? are you one of them? and if you are, why you want to watch me suffer at every NF?

I wish Legendaries still felt like it, instead of like standard issue.

    Posted: 26 Jul 2021 02:47 PM PDT

Legendary gear basically occupies the entirety of the 'not exotic' category; it's just everything else. Common and Uncommon doesn't exist. And Rare gear is infusion fodder or glimmer.

Back when the game launched, it felt good to get a legendary because it meant you got something worth keeping. Now most legendaries are dismantled. I'd love for Legendaries to have status again, and be exciting to receive.

But if the lower rarities are going to be more than just "the gear you get while playing the story", they'll need improvements that make them potentially worth using longer term. Legendary gear would then need to be improved too. But I don't think this would require power creep.

One way might be for rarity to become a simple modifier to every piece of gear, affecting its features. As an example, imagine the different tiers of a Chroma Rush this season:

    • Common: Has a single static perk (Heating Up).
    • Uncommon: Drops with a random second column perk in addition to the static perk. Can be infused.
    • Rare: Drops with a random perk in each column and a random masterwork stat. Has options for barrels/scopes/magazines.
    • Legendary: Drops with a random perk in each column plus the static perk (swappable). Barrels, scopes, magazines, and Masterwork may be rerolled at the Gunsmith. Accepts mods.
    • Endgame activities: Always Legendary. Adept variants have double swappable perks.

Common gear essentially becomes the new infusion fodder, but also establishes a sort of base schematic for an item's higher rarities, which all have random perk potential; Uncommons and especially Rares could drop with combos that make them worth keeping. Legendaries, which won't drop as frequently any longer, will have the bonus of extensive customization.

I think it would be really interesting to see people holding onto lower rarity gear because they got good rolls. And when the Legendaries drop, it'll feel even more special.

What do you all think? How would you do it? I didn't talk about armor, but I suspect that the changes Bungie is probably making to armor for Witch Queen will line up more with this rework than our current armor would (e.g. set perks/bonuses).

    Bring back some Veist weapons

    Posted: 26 Jul 2021 06:46 AM PDT

Aside from 80% of Linear Fusion rifles and a few other select weapons, Veist foundry weapons have been abandoned since before Shadowkeep.

I do know that the Death Adder smg is popular among former Recluse users. But while I also kinda think its dumb to only have it drop from the Prophecy dungeon, Veist weapons could use some much needed love.

Valakadyn and Perseverance were fun Auto Rifles back in D2 vanilla, they could use an update into the loot pool.

Is anyone bothered that the shatterdive- glacial nade combo is still as effective as before?

    Posted: 26 Jul 2021 08:42 AM PDT

What was nerfed was the deadliness of the glacial nade/crystals. Fissures was also tuned and made less devastating. Shatterdive was "nerfed" you cant do it over and over in quick succession. However, this never touched how quickly this can be done. You can be a couple inches off the ground and pull this off. The nade can be thrown and before it hits the ground the hunter can be on its way down to shatter. Not to mention no physical contact has to be made with the crystals since it has that aoe to make it that much easier to shatter. I don't think any class should have an instant detonation ability that is not a super. Bungie has said they want to move away from an ability based game and more about positioning and gunplay. This clearly steps all over that.

I'm not one to call for nerfs, I would like to see some balance. Buff the hunter melee targeting or change it to one shuriken but it applies the same stacks and damage as hitting the two.

Not to mention, the nerf to fissures did more damage to the behemoth class since the super relies on crystals. It just further reduces its effectiveness in PvP and more so in PvE on top of all the nerfs to this super.

Making the different weapon foundries a bigger part of the storyline would be a pretty interesting way to introduce and/or bring back some more tomorrow interesting weapons.

    Posted: 26 Jul 2021 12:37 PM PDT

Maybe even a way to add catalysts to exotics that still need it? I'd also really appreciate more "Branding" on gear like what we got in the Prophecy dungeon.

EDIT: somehow the word tomorrow ended up in the title, thanks phone autocorrect.

there needs to be a way to target farm dreaming city weapons

    Posted: 26 Jul 2021 12:40 AM PDT

with dreaming city weapons now back in the pool, i am trying to hunt down my beloved tigerspite. today only, i farmed over 20 pieces of gear. here is what i got

    3 x reverie dawn helmets

    3 x reverie dawn gloves

    2 x reverie dawn chest

    2 x reverie dawn legs

2 x reverie dawn class items

4 x abide the return sword

    2 x sleepless rocket launcher

    2 x vouchsafe scout rifle

1 x waking vigil hand cannon

1 x twilight oath sniper rifle

i deleted a few more things that i cant remember. i will also mention that not a single one of these rolls were good. there NEEDS to be target farming, just like on the moon. come on bungie... this is ridiculous. theres no way i farm THAT many pieces of gear, and not a single one is the thing that i want, nor are the things i got even usable

Affinity Armor Mods + Extremely High Cost to Switch Armor Affinity is Infuriating.

    Posted: 26 Jul 2021 08:27 AM PDT

Title. There are a ton of 4th slot armor mod combos that I am unable to try out because my armor affinities are incompatible with the mods. I've already spent a ton of time grinding for an armor set with good stats and I don't have the time or inclination to grind out another armor set with different affinities.

The designers haven't even offered an in-game explanation for why certain mods are relegated to certain affinities; it's just more mindless and insulting busy work to keep us running the hamster wheel, because for some reason they seem to believe that if we get what we want, we'll stop playing. This couldn't be further from the truth. Arbitrarily locking me out of playability options is much more likely to get me to turn Destiny off.

Either the cost for switching armor affinities should be substantially lessened/removed, or else the 4th slot mods should not be restricted to certain affinities (in the same way that the seasonal artifact mods are not).

    This Community !

    Posted: 26 Jul 2021 12:44 PM PDT

I need to say this, as corny🌽/cheesy as it might sound.

I'm a seasoned gamer 👀. Had many PC's. Most consoles since the Atari 2600 all the way to the PS5.

    Love D1.

Just returned to D2. Way better now than at launch. Posted on the Bungie app for some assistance. Needed help with the Xenophage quest. Not the most skilled guardian when solo. Didn't think anyone would even try to help.

Honestly I'm genuinely blown away with how many people offered to help. One guy joins me and basically back packs me through the entire quest. And he didn't even need it. So grateful as I'd really tried on my own.

I'm not used to people actually helping others online. Went through the vile cesspit that was the dawn of online multiplayer games.

So yeah some people are abhorrent douche bags online. Maybe I've been lucky since I've come back. I think this community is awesome. 👍👍👍👍👍✊✊✊✊✊

Why does bungie keep putting competitive bounties in cooperative game modes?

    Posted: 26 Jul 2021 05:27 PM PDT

Trying to get boss kills in the EAZ and if a teammate kills the taken boss you get no credit. Meaning you have to play upwards of 10 EAZ missions for the bounty. Why doesnt teammate kills count?

Hey Bungie, can we get seasonal Ghost perk that drops extra Seasonal materials?

    Posted: 26 Jul 2021 11:46 AM PDT

Ghosts get perks for almost every standard game activity these days, it stands to reason we should have a ghost perk that applies to seasonal materials (i.e. Decrypted Data, Recon Data, etc.).

It could drop into our collections tab the moment we pick up the new seasonal artifact each season.

Shayura’s gave us an cool smg that can compete with the meta in PvP, can we get a sidearm like that?

    Posted: 26 Jul 2021 01:39 PM PDT

I might be a PvE main, but I do spend a lot of time on PvP. I love shayura's wrath. It seems like the devs made an smg that was perfectly designed for pvp. It feels great to bring something that isn't a hand cannon, pulse or DMT into pvp.

Now sidearms, well they're sidearms. Like I get it, they're supposed to excel at close ranges but at that range you get destroyed by Chappy, fusions, TLW, or literally almost every other weapon. Now it might mostly be a sidearm problem, or a controller-user problem, but every time I use a sidearm that doesn't have full auto it just feels awful to use. Getting a sidearm that can compete with other weapons in the crucible, or that at the very least feels good to use would be great. If there's an archetype that really needs some love its sidearms, they're probably the only weapon type I can think of that isn't worth bringing to PvP or higher-end PvE.

EDIT: Sorry if I didn't explain myself correctly. I don't think sidearms CAN'T compete in PvP, they are made for close range engagements and they excel at said range. My main point of the post(I got derailed ik) is that it'd be great if we got a sidearm with higher than normal range and stability that feels great to use, like shayura's for smgs. At least for controller idk how non-full auto sidearms feel in MnK.

    Optimized Bounties For 2021/7/26

    Posted: 26 Jul 2021 11:46 AM PDT

Deer trivia: In 1960, a plot of land in the Monks Wood was harvested for the last time, then ploughed and abandoned. A scientist in the nearby Monks Wood Experimental Station wrote note saying "It might be interesting to watch what happens to this area if man does not interfere." So they did just that. Not only did deer move in once wild vegetation grew; their presence helped shape the area itself. Because the area was not fenced, deer could roam inside and eat the rapidly expanding undergrowth, which meant they weren't nibbling on the newly growing trees. Those trees grew unhindered, and the Monks Wood Reserve is now a complex multilayered woodland environment.

Step 1 - Thank your deer neighbors for contributing to the long-term growth of your neighborhood's property value.

Step 2 - Pick up the following bounties. Remember, you can use the Destiny 2 Companion app!

    1. Fly to the EDZ, grab Devrim's bounties, then run the Arms Dealer Strike. Use an SMG, Shotgun, and Sword, at least one of which is Arc. (15 minutes)
    2. Play one match of Control, and if needed, one other Crucible match of your choice. (10-20 minutes)
    3. Play one-to-two matches of Gambit with a Void Subclass. (10-20 minutes)
