PLEASE remove glimmer to apply mods so API apps like Ishtar can apply them to loadouts

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 01:05 PM PDT

Destiny is a massive game, with loads of content, that all requires different load outs and mods.

This in my eyes is the ultimate QoL change they could make. Hitting one button to swap all mods on all armor, and glimmer seems to be the only thing holding back amazing apps like Ishtar or DIM from adding mods to loadouts.

edit: damn this is getting some traction, credit for this post idea goes to my good friend and life partner u/fj54

Bungie, can we spend shards to "unlock" affinities on our armor instead of switching them?

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 08:58 AM PDT

It sucks to spend a shard to keep switching based on your current needs. I also understand the need to spend resources in order to get your optimum builds ready. I think it would be awesome if I could spend three shards on a legendary and it would allow me to switch the affinity of an armor piece anytime I would like.

To the invader that came in to hug me after my 3 teammates bailed in gambit

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 03:51 PM PDT

    You are a great person.

It was so weird. We banked our motes after 2nd wave. I went in as an invader got 3 kills and as soon as I was back there was no one left. Next a guy invades and goes straight for a hug. Thank you Sebstone_5 (I think?) I needed that.

This Past Week is Proof that Next Season's Nightfall Weapon Pursuit Will be Miserable.

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 02:09 PM PDT

After spending a full week of Destiny doing almost nothing but chasing my preferred roll on the Adept Palindrome, I think I can safety say that the decision to have multiple weapons each week next seasons is a terrible one. After 114 completions of the Grandmaster Disgraced Strike with double drops I walked away with a grand total of 12 Adept Palindromes, none of which came close to the roll that I was chasing.

There are already several layers of randomness which exist between a player and their desired weapon rolls, of course varying from person to person based on the specificity of the roll they want. However, the insertion of another layer of randomness hurts everyone substantially even if it is only a coin flip as it halves your pre-existing odds.

A long-term solution needs to be found as more weapons are added over the coming seasons, but in the meantime eight weapons could easily spread over the course of the next season on a one per week basis. The season is going to be at least 19 weeks long, and will probably be even longer than that assuming that Witch Queen doesn't launch the first week of January. That is enough time for two full rotations with room to spare for at least part of a third.

TIL: You need to reach Season Rank 463.61394 to be at level for Master VoG

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 04:42 PM PDT

Just reached +30 Artifact Level today.

Will be curious to see if they increase the level for it again next season (1360?), or leave it as is.

Edit: as a follow up, this wasn't meant to say that you "needed" to be at 1350 to complete it, and I fully believe in completing it under levelled (I did complete contest mode including challenges). This was more curiosity as to how much xp it actually takes to reach the +30 mark.

When you buff Mythoclast, please fix the reload too

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 01:35 PM PDT

If you try to reload while you're still on the trigger or too quickly after you've released the trigger, it will stop firing but it won't reload. This frequently leads to having to double-tap the reload or be very deliberate about releasing the trigger before reloading, which can get pretty annoying.

This isn't an issue with other weapons with alt-fire modes that swap using the reload button, like Cerberus+1 (with catalyst) and Symmetry.

Behemoth needs SERIOUS readjustment, we can talk about it without playing The Devil's Advocate (Just like Shadebinder)

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 08:19 PM PDT

Behemoth holds no value in PvE and was reduced to cheesy/specific builds for PvP. The subclass's use nowdays is to give Nova Warp mains a friend whom they can relate to. Jokes aside and now that the "heat" about the subclass has been lowered, we can fairly discuss about it's usefulness in what the game has to offer.

DISCLAIMER: This is not a "Bring back 1.0 Behemoth" discussion, or "Super buff Behemoth." All that I'll ask in the end (spoiler) will be the treatment Shadebinder received (which I think we can all agree is fairly balanced in all parts of the game). I'm NOT bringing up other classes and subclass to call for nerf or "what about those?", the examples are there to add to the context of some of what I consider unfair changes to Behemoth and Glacial Quake.

    Edit1: Formating

Edit2: Typos, will edit for more

Ok, let's get down to it.

    IN BEFORE... (again)....

While some may argue that the class is "S-Tier" solely because it can be 'viable-ish through the use of a certain loadouts and exotics, I'm afraid they are telling that just to prevent the subclass from getting overturned again or damage control in it's essence. (Let's face it, S-Tier subclasses are flexible and don't need gimmick playstyle to shine, anyone could slap Contraverse Hold on Nova Warp or Ashen Wake on Burning Maul and say "done, it's fixed, it's viable now. Doesn't need buff").

BEHEMOTH'S PvE PROBLEMS (Purpose, Super, Function)

The Subclass basically offers NOTHING for PvE, no synergy whatsoever unless you put it in shard-creation duty. While Hunters can keep everything slowed through Dodge, Enhanced Duskfield Grenade and Chain-Shuriken bouncing, Warlocks can control the battlefield by freezing everything with their Stasis Turret and shattering targets for chain-freeze. So the job of slowing and freezing was covered by both of those classes. What does Behemoth offer? Shattering.

Yes, the subclass is supposed to be the shattering one, HOWEVER you can't really shatter that many enemies, let alone efficiently shatter them like Hunter.

    What about battlefield control?

None, Behemoth's Crystal and freezing is nothing compared to Shadebinder (who can chain-freeze and shatter in instants) or Revenant's tornado that will automatically do the job for ya. Burn enough super energy to freeze everyone in those crystals and your super is over with a job that is far worse at everything.

So one of the most NICHE uses of Behemoth in PvE is by shattering targets frozen by Shadebinders and Revenants. The subclass needs to synergize with other stasis classes (not even their own) to do its job to a maximum effect, and with little return and value.

    DIAMOND LANCE USEFULNESS

Perhaps one of the few power-fantasy things to ever appear for titans, the lance is a major deception. For something that is clearly PvE focused you get just ONE fragment slot, and you can't even chain freeze as effective as Shadebinder or slow many targets like Revenant. You pick one, toss at the enemies and then you have a Cooldown to create another Lance. You can't hold it forever and it won't last forever if it's not picked.

    SHIVER STRIKE (PvE)

What should be the "Stasis should charge" barely does any damage to tickle the enemy, isn't buffed by any other source and it's only "good" effect is the slow detonation it creates, but who's gonna leap into a living target surrounded by enemies in higher level plays with that? The Charged Melee's usefulness is entirely on Howl, sadly.

BEHEMOTH IN PvP, WHAT IT RIGHTFULLY DESERVED

The initial issues Behemoth had were underlooked by Bungie. 2x Charges of a longer Dunemarchers Slide and then a Freezing Slide with a giant cone, and then you could spam M1/Light Attack without burning Super Energy, with a Freeze on Cast (basically Panic Button) and a whole 60% damage resistance? Ask ANY player that used Behemoth and they will agree with you that it was complete bullshit.

    SHIVER STRIKE (PvP)

Shiver Strike didn't deserve this. It can't even function as a gap-closer anymore while in Super Form, or even as a proper melee. The Snow Detonation was a good change, because you shouldn't be rewarded for diving into a outnumbered location and slow everyone in the process and in the explosion of the connection to the target, BUT...

Shiver Strike was mainly used as a poor man's Twilight Garrison, or even better: the biggest excuse for a dodge ever. Even with high Strength build you couldn't repeatedly use it like Icarus Dash or Hunter's Dodge. MOST COMPETITIVE PLAYERS used it like that, hell those who chose to cheese were the ones burning their Charged Melee for Howl of the Storm.

One of Bungie's Argument was to "offer counterplay" / "make better for console players to track." But how many Melee Supers can you really bail out from their fast-connecting M1's/Light Attacks? A spamming Spectral Blades will fully slaughter you, a Striker can zip-zap connecting to targets.

SHIVER STRIKE IS AN IDENTITY ABILITY! It's glorious form and speed gave part of the uniqueness of Behemoth, being a shadow of it's former self really brings it down

Revert Shiver Strike, if the problem is easy of use to dive into Guardians then give it the Shoulder Charge treatment, if the problem is how far it can connect then reduce that (again, like Shoulder Charge). At this point NO ONE is using Shiver Strike for PvE or PvP (only for Howl's Crystals). Possible dead ability with barely use at any content.

Melee Roaming Supers as well as Daybreak have up to 56-60% Damage resistance, Behemoth has 47%

The change from 50% to 47% was made so you have to use the +10 Recovery Aspect, which then gives the 3% more while in super and near a frozen target or stasis crystal.

However, it makes no sense to lower that further. It's so easy to Gun down a Behemoth nowdays that even if he burns out of his M2/Heavy Attack to create crystals, you can still jump over that or just run away and leave the dude who wasted all of his energy for those barriers.

Spectral Blades (Visible) has 60% Damage Resistance, Daybreak has 56% and has ranged projectiles. Behemoth is the lowest of the Melee Roaming Supers. It's use in competitive PvP was turned into "bring the round into match point to wall off the flag" or "use to scare the Spectral blades from engaging us." It's offensiveness was greatly reduced. You are basically meat if you get out of a stasis crystal range and outmaneuvered by high jumps (pretty much a fusion between Nova Warp and Arcstrider's weaknesses into one subclass).

NO ONE WANTS IT TO BE OVERPOWERED

Everyone just wants it to be usable in PvP without being locked into a specific playstyle and use it in PvE for something other than finishing the BL campaign as a titan/unlocking aspects.

Don't get me wrong, the nerfs to Howl, the freeze detonation of Shiver, the CD for Cryoclasm's Enhanced Slide are all good for PvP and balanced, but Shiver Strike's situation was overdone and the Super turning into paper with punishment for closing the gap is terrible.

So if anything, ANYTHING. A Simple restoration to Shiver Strike's speed, being able to shatter with Cryo without the Enhanced Slide and an extra fragment slot and no cooldown for Diamond Lance would REALLY help a lot now without delving into game balance.

LETS DISCUSS IT, no torches or forks yet

You may be downvoting OP right now or trying to understand what got into my mind to play the devil's advocate to the (former) most overtuned subclass to have ever stepped in Destiny's history, but one thing is nerfing and other is re-balancing it.

I think bungie did great job finding a way to make a raid title difficult without flawless.

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 11:17 AM PDT

Just got fatebreaker, and I'm happy. Master vog was really fun for me and my group, and while I would have rather had flawless alongside master triumphs for fatebreaker I still really appreciate how fun this title was compared to the last two raid titles. Descendant was so auto-pilot mode I just lost interest and didn't bother getting the last one I needed. Thank you bungie, keep it up with the next raid :)

edit oh my god can i learn how to grammar in titles

For the next reprised D1 raid, can we not exclude some weapons?

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 01:05 AM PDT

Praetorian Foil, Praedyth's Timepiece and Atheon's Epilogue were all excluded when VoG returned for (what I believe) is to fit into this new system of tight raid loot pools, e.g DSC only has 6 legendary weapons so VoG only got 6 legendary weapons as well

I personally don't see the reason in doing this, I've never seen "less loot" as a good thing except when the world pool is pumped full of reskins so I personally believe it shouldn't happen for the next raid (which I believe is Crota's End, which iirc has like 9 legendaries)

I know some meta apes are probably gonna be like "BuT bUT tHey wErE tRaSh" about VoG and future excluded weapons, this is always a dumb statement, this is a completely different game, a lot of people loved these weapons and metas constantly change.

I gotta say, “Fatebreaker” is the first title in a while that has actually instilled a sense of pride after I earned it

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 02:03 PM PDT

Back in Forsaken, titles were advertised as pinnacle endgame rewards, with only the most skilled players being able to earn them with their mastery in an activity.

They stayed pretty true to that when they were first available, with titles like Rivensbane and Unbroken, but stuff like Wayfarer and Chronichler were a little weaker, although they made up for it in quantity of requirements compared to difficulty.

Now in Beyond Light, most of them are nothing more than glorified checklists, mostly relying on rng drops or just doing slightly above the bare minimum. Even the raid titles, Enlightened and Descendent, barely have any clout because of the fact they don't require flawless completions. After getting my EoT drop, I just claimed the title and went straight back to Conquerer.

I didn't have high hopes for Fatebreaker, like the others there was no flawless requirement, and I was originally expecting master mode to be a steamroll after a while like in D1. But bungie dropped the bomb of making it actually pretty difficult. The first week of gatekeeper challenge was very rough. Almost killed my interest in the title to be honest. But, I kept going, each week it got a little easier, and, dare I say, a little more fun. Now here we, the last challenge available, and I'm actually excited to show it off.

The master mode challenges, I think are actually more difficult than doing a flawless raid. This gives me a lot of hope and excitement for the Witch Queen raid and future master raids.

I hope bungie keeps it up with actually challenging endgame pve 👍

The Solstice double & triple XP progress should be applied to every other part of Destiny

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 08:26 AM PDT

For players that run all 3 characters (or really for those who don't want that amount of grinding), the solstice progress buff really makes life better for players and should apply to almost every facet of Destiny. Here's just a sample of what it can be used for:

    - Campaign rank up progress. Not power level via gear, but when there is a new DLC, we have to rank our characters up again at times. Second & third characters gets a speed boost through those levels.

    - Subclass/Stasis upgrades. The Aspect/Fragment grind was a perfect example, although Bungie toned that down. But having the speed boost would lower the grind.

    - Iron Banner. D1 used to be like this, where the second & third characters got a speed boost. Bring that back for the bounties and seasonal quest steps.

    - Trials weekly bounty. Finish 1 character, get the speed boost on the next 2 character weekly bounties.

Some may even ask for the 3 games per playlist or 8 weekly bounties per vendor, but those seem fine per character since it's not really a shared activity. It's really the longest grinds in the game where all 3 characters have to complete the same objectives, but separately.

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 11:41 AM PDT

I like the idea of the perk, but in practice it just isn't viable to run as it loses it's burn proc way too easily. And is probably why nobody uses it.

Suggestion: keep burn active until death.

Behemoth only having one specific decent build for a niche playlist pretty much bring us back the tree branches and it sucks

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 03:33 PM PDT

Literally half of Behemoth aspect are dogshit so you are locked to only 2 decent one where you need to use a very specific build pretty much the same as all the light subclasses and let's not talk about how this specific build almost has nothing to do with the universal kit of Behemoth because the Melee and Super are trash as well

People say that the nerfs gave Behemoth a different identity that is not true since nothing about was buffed the "defensive" play style was always there to use people just chose not to the only thing those nerf did was to eliminate options

so please for the love of god

    Buff Diamond Lance

    Buff Cryo

    Buff Shiver Strike

    And Buff Glacier Quake

So we will actually have a choice and make it actually usable in PVE

Bungie please make it so we can cancel icefall mantle

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 05:03 AM PDT

I feel like this exotic must almost never get used even though the idea of it is really cool. Its just not very often worth trading THAT much mobility for the overshield. I think if you could hit the ability button again and give up the shield but get your mobility back. Maybe to balance it you would still have to wait the extended cooldown even if you cancel early.

Optimized Bounties For 2021/8/3 + Bounty Stacking Guide For S15

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 10:49 AM PDT

PSA: We're three weeks out from the new season, so it's time for my quarterly bounty stacking guide! Check it out below the bounties.

Deer trivia: Fallow Deer and Moose are the only two species of deer that have palmate antlers. Palmate antlers are those that look like a palm with fingers extended, as opposed to the more common antlers that look like tree branches.

Step 1 - Give Saladman a big ol' kiss for sparing us from "An Arsenal of Tricks" this week.

Step 2 - Pick up the following bounties. Remember, you can use the Destiny 2 Companion app!

    Tower Bounties:

    • Saladman – Oath of the Pack – Assist Kills in Iron Banner
    • Saladman – Around the Fire – Capture Zones in Iron Banner
    • Saladman – Maneuver Warfare – Zone Advantage Kills in Iron Banner
    • Saladman – The Rout – Kill Enemies in Iron Banner
    • Zavala – One Shot, One Kill – 25 Precision Kills
    • Zavala – The Harder They Fall – Kill 10 Challenging Enemies in Strikes
    • Zavala – Vanguardian – Kill 50 Enemies in Strikes
    • Zavala – Fast and True – 25 Bow Kills in Strikes
    • Shaxx – Coordinated Fire – 5 Assist Kills in the Crucible
    • Shaxx – High Energy – 5 Energy Weapon Kills in the Crucible
    • Shaxx – Peak Efficiency – 2 Kills in 1 Life in the Crucible
    • Shaxx – Unlimited Power – 3 Super Kills in Mayhem
    • Banshee – Pulse Rifle, Sniper Rifle, Linear Fusion Rifle, Void Weapon Calibrations
    • Drifter – Big-Game Hunter – Kill an HVT in Gambit
    • Drifter – Elite Executioner – Kill 10 Challenging Enemies in Gambit
    • Drifter – Not Your Mama's Combat Drill – Kill 50 Enemies in Gambit
    • Drifter – Envoy It While It Lasts – Kill 2 Primeval Envoys in Gambit

    Planetaries:

    • Shaw Han – House Cleaning – Kill 20 Hive in the Cosmodrome
    • Shaw Han – From Grace – Kill 20 Fallen in the Cosmodrome
    • Shaw Han – Bring Your Toolbox – 10 Ability Kills in the Cosmodrome
    • Shaw Han – Leave Nothing Behind – 5 Power Weapon Kills in the Cosmodrome

Step 3 - Follow These Steps:

    1. Fly to the Cosmodrome, grab Shaw's bounties, then run either The Disgraced or Devil's Lair Strike. Use a Bow, Sniper Rifle, and Linear Fusion Rifle, at least one of which is Void. (15 minutes)
    2. Play one match of Mayhem, and if needed, one match of Iron Banner. (10-20 minutes)
    3. Play one-to-two matches of Gambit. Use a Pulse Rifle. (10-20 minutes)

    Total Bounties Cleared:

    • 20 Dailies (you won't clear any of Saladman's today, but we're grabbing them to work on all week long)

    Total Time: 35 – 55 minutes

    Bounties Per Minute: .44

    Rewards:

    • 120,000 XP (unmodified)
    • 20 Vanguard Tokens, 4/8 Vanguard Weekly Challenge
    • 4/8 Crucible Weekly Challenge
    • 4/8 Gambit Weekly Challenge
    • 4 Enhancement Cores
    • 8 Mod Components
    • 20 Spinmetal

    Season Ranks Per Hour: 1.6

It's that time again! Three weeks before the new season starts means it's time to start stacking bounties to prep for next season. Veterans know what this is, but for the New Lights, a brief refresher:

    Q. WTF are you talking about?

    A. Bounty stacking is the practice – nay, the art - of completing bounties but not turning them in until the new season begins.

    Q. Why would I do that?

    A. There are a few reasons to do this. One, you can gain around 15-20 levels on the rewards track immediately if you do it on all three characters. That means a bunch of Upgrade Modules, which can help you raise your gear to the new cap, and several XP boosts, which means you'll begin leveling faster, sooner. And if your goal is to hit Level 100, gaining a bunch of levels on Day 1 takes a lot of the pressure off for the rest of the season.

Another reason is quick progress on unlocking Artifact Mods and gaining Artifact Power.

    Q. OK, you've convinced me! What should I do?

    A. All you need to do is complete bounties, then let them set in your quest log unclaimed. But there are some rules you should follow for which bounties you bank.

    1. Your priorities should be planetary dailies and weeklies from the Cosmodrome, the EDZ, Nessus, the Moon (including the Lectern), and Europa. If you bank everything you can from those and still have room, you can start grabbing Banshee's dailies as well.
    2. You should also complete and bank Iron Banner bounties this week. These will not only give big XP, they have the chance to award you whatever the new weapons are for the next season.
    3. Do not bank anything from the Tangled Shore or the Dreaming City. The XP for those is butts.
    4. For this season, do not bank anything from Zavala, Shaxx, or Drifter. Sometimes it's OK, but Vanguard Tokens/Rewards are disappearing next season, and all vendor rep is being updated, so the bounties probably aren't going to carry over.

    Q. OK! My quest log is full of bounties! What should I do now?

    A. Here is the order of operations you should follow:

    1. Before the new season starts, abandon the Wrathborn Lure from your quest log, because let's be honest, are you ever really going to use that again? Fill that space with a bounty.
    2. When the new season starts, DO NOT TURN IN ANYTHING YET. Make sure you have at least one empty spot in your quest log.
    3. Do whatever the opening quest for the season is to get the Seasonal Artifact.
    4. Once you have the Artifact, equip a Ghost mod that boosts your XP.
    5. If you can, join a fireteam for the extra XP bonus.
    6. NOW turn in your bounties. I recommend not spamming ten of them per second – I've never had an error happen before, but better safe than sorry.
    7. Log out, switch to other characters with banked bounties (if you have them), and repeat.

    Q. How much XP can I expect to gain from this?

    A. For every season since Undying, I've stacked 60+ bounties on all three characters. It's different each time, since the amount of Weeklies and Dailies has changed over time, but I typically gain 15-20 levels after turning everything in.

    Q. Isn't grinding bounties super tedious and boring?

    A. If you turn it into a full time job, yeah. I do it in little chunks. If I have nothing to do in Destiny today, I'll hop on for ten minutes and go knock out Shaw's two weeklies and four dailies in the Cosmodrome. That's 48k XP – half a level, before any modifiers – for ten, maybe fifteen minutes of play (play that I enjoy, because pew pew space magic). If the EDZ's bounties can be done in five minutes, that's a coffee break. You don't need to put hours and hours into it, especially if you start early. Just pick up a few here, a few there, and you'll be good.

    Q. Anything else I should know?

    A. Yes.

    1. If you have Beyond Light, then three weeks means it's your last chance to get all three Empire Hunt weeklies. Make sure you pick them up each week.
    2. The Lectern Weekly for Nightmare Kills in Lost Sectors actually doesn't need to be done in Lost Sectors – Nightmares from the Altars of Sorrow count.
    3. If you're a New Light who does not have access to Moon, Lectern, or Europa bounties, then you may need to fill in the gaps with repeatable bounties from Banshee or Shaw. Be aware that repeatables are half the XP of regular bounties, so only use these as a last resort.

Thought Experiment - What would Destiny look like if Bungie leaned way harder into class identity?

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 11:04 AM PDT

This is just for fun, not a real suggestion with any thought of balance or a level playing field. The lore surrounding each class often plays up certain characteristics that, aside from the meme-y personality traits (Nerdy Warlocks, Edgey Hunters, Dumb Titans), harkens back to classic MMO class identity.

What would Destiny's gameplay look like if it had been developed down that route?

    • What if Titans were more traditional tanks? Giant walls of ironclad defenses that drew the attention of enemies and shielded their allies?
    • Hunters as classic Rogues/Assassins, sneaking around the shadows getting bonuses for back attacks, poisoning and blinding foes or misdirecting with illusions?
    • Warlocks playing as true mages, surging buffs and debuffs throughout the battlefield, surging elemental powers, and healing fallen and wounded allies?

How might Destiny's encounter design develop from this point? Or how would the subclasses abilities alter the core function of the parent class?

Where are all the aggressive frame pulse rifles (4-burst archetype)?

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 06:47 AM PDT

Currently there is only 1 non-sunset aggressive 4-burst pulse rifle which is the Sacred Provenance from GoS and it came out in Shadowkeep almost 2 years ago. We're definitely long overdue for more weapons of this archetype.

They are arguably the best type of pulses for PvE and PvP and it sucks that the only one that you can use is stupidly hard to get a god roll of.

SPLISH SPLASH emote should loop FOREVER

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 06:17 PM PDT

I didn't spend $10 to only splish splash for twenty seconds. Let me splash forever. Why is Bungo such an oppressive overlord?????

I wish titles were different colors based on the content you earn them from

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 02:51 PM PDT

Imagine if Fatebreaker was a nice light blue or Dredgen was gambit's shade of green etc. If they wanted to get crazy with it, they could add some sort of subtle animated particles by the text like those white vex lines around Fatebreaker. I'd be fine with just different colors though. Thoughts?

My New Light Experience (Warning: Some Positive Opinions)

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 12:52 PM PDT

hey everyone! for some context, i started playing destiny 2 on my birthday, may 30 (about 2 weeks into season of the splicer) when a friend recommended it to me. without myself having played even a minute of the game, he made the risk of buying me all three dlc and the season 14 pass as a birthday present. he helped me through the campaign and i've been hooked ever since. i already have over 250 hours in the game (unheard of for me) and this week i'll hit 1335 light and will be attempting my first gm nightfall!

    my first impressions:

the new light campaign did a great job of introducing me to the general mechanics of the game. however, it did take me a few weeks to realize that i could equip mods on my weapons and armor, let alone learn how armor stats worked. a huge resource for me was crazymrpipz on youtube. the beginning quests felt fluid and genuinely fun, and there was a whole lot to do after that.

however, the crucible and gambit were untouchable by me for at least a month, because every time i joined a game as an 1100 i'd get slaughtered by 1320s or lasered by invaders (i know that power level is irrelevant in crucible but that still doesn't leave a good impression to new players who are used to skill-based matchmaking).

all three dlc campaigns were very fun, especially forsaken. i actually felt bad for cayde without knowing any of the context or lore. the splicer campaign was also nice, and i've enjoyed attempting tartarus speedruns with my friend.

almost all of the pve content has felt very engaging and rewarding. i love running prophecy each week and my current favorite activity is legend lost sectors. no complaints on any pve activities in general! i haven't yet done a raid, but i might give dsc or vog a shot before i leave for college.

the lack of lore explanation was completely justifiable to me. byf's 4 hour video was a great watch for me and i honestly prefer it over what would have been countless hours of extra campaign gameplay. on my first character, hunter, everything flew over my head, but it was fun replaying the campaign as a warlock and then a titan, understanding more and more about the lore each playthrough.

    suggestions:

pvp is absolute no man's land for beginners. maybe new players can be matched against each other up to a certain xp level (combined across all seasons played to prevent problems at the beginning of each season).

there should definitely be some sort of tutorial portion discussing mods, affinities, weapon/armor upgrades, and the player's goals post-campaign.

this might be a stretch, but maybe regular lost sector, public event, or playlist strike-exclusive legendary gear/weapons to incentivize players to run those activities. i'm not looking for anything near meta, just something light to grind for passively while working on things like weapon catalysts. would make those activities slightly more enjoyable imo.

    petty feedback:

the ribbon road on prophecy is really rough. if i die once, it takes 45 seconds to respawn, and by the time i'm back up it's usually too late to get the chest, meaning not only do i miss out on loot, but i also don't get the chance to actually practice the ribbon road unless i run the whole dungeon again (except no pinnacle at the end). this means the cycle usually repeats each week.

100 guardian eliminations with grenade launchers for the witherhoard catalyst. do i even need to explain this one?

that one overload captain in concealed void before the wretch room. is it just me or does it not get stunned? pain.

    conclusions:

i still have a few questions that i haven't found answers for yet, so for the sake of brevity (i think it's already ruined now lol) i'll leave those in a comment.

i absolutely love destiny 2. huge shoutout to everyone on reddit and youtube who helped me learn this incredible game over the past few months, and a special shoutout to my friend. hope you all have a wonderful day, and enjoy this week's activities. maybe i'll catch a couple of you in my gm attempts (sorry in advance if i feed)!

Quickest Decrypted Data Farm - Sub-3:45 - Expunge: Tartarus

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 10:58 AM PDT

Here is what I believe to be the quickest way to farm Decrypted Data and Splicer gear. Once you have Corrupted Keys, complete the "Expunge: Corrupted Tartarus" mission on Europa.

Hunter + Breach and Clear armor mod + Bottom Tree Gunslinger + Celestial Nighthawk. Titan with Cuirass of the Falling Star can also one-shot. Haven't tried with Warlock yet...

    Video Link: https://youtu.be/HP_3vWtsOZo

It is possible to one-shot boss from the first phase, but I can't get my super to charge quicker. Any ideas?

I've found that the fastest way to collect corrupted keys is play Shiro Chi checkpoint on The Last Wish raid. I was getting them about every 3 minutes. They drop randomly from enemies.

Raid mods either need a rework or just made intrinsic to the armour

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 10:42 AM PDT

As it stands there is absolutely no reason to give up enegry slots for the mods we currently have.

Dsc mods psh I cant remember ever seeing someone use them outside of day one and even then they took it off because it wasnt doing anything.

Vog mods I've only ever seen people use them for solo content, as someone who has two and three manned the whole raid they are actually pointless.

I know bungie doesn't want a repeat of the last wish and crown mods taking over the whole game so I suggest having the mods cost 0 enegry but only be allowed to applied to raid armour that way they can stay at the same power but not be worthless.

It gives an incentive to actually farm a good set of raid gear and use it in that raid, think wrath of the machines mods.

I don't get it why does destiny have such boring PvP maps?

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 06:00 PM PDT

IDK I love destiny's PvP but man I can't bring myself to play it anymore. I'm just so tired of the maps. So I started playing MCC and wtf the maps are still so freaking good and have such a clean design. For example using I can actually use micro terrain a dive behind a small hill on gultch. The maps just make me feel like there's alot more freedom even though the movement itself is severely limited. Hell even halo 2 has interesting vertically.

I don't get it they're the same company what happened to all those years of wonderful map designs? Did they loose the talent when they transitioned away from Microsoft? Is PvP map design just not a thing anymore? It's a shame too especially since the pve maps all have very interesting environments why can they just repurpose some of those?
