My wife jokingly took over my game, told her to try the tire game, she stumbled upon a perfect game first try and got me the triumph.

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 09:13 AM PDT

So I was just getting some Eris bounties when my wife jokingly comes and sits on my lap and says she's taking over. I'm like "well then, try the tire game". She responds "I"m just kidding, I'm going to yoga in a min so I can't play". But I told her it's right behind her, "just try it", thinking to myself it should be fun to laugh with her as the tires fly off to the sides n such. Well, the joka was entirely on me. I literally am still chuckling. I've never been able to hit the middle crater and she did all 3 first try IN SUCH A SCUFFED WAY. I present the "full run".

People keep asking why Bungie hasn't nerfed Striker/OEM. I don't think they're incompetent, so one possibly is because the data hasn't supported it. Titans have the #2, #5 and #9 (worst) KDA's on console. OEM/Striker do need to be adjusted, but Titans as a whole will need some help once they are.

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 01:23 PM PDT

I know this is probably going to be met with a (blade) barrage of downvotes, but hear me out. I don't think Bungie is incompetent, and I don't think they're biased towards any one class. (Although I think most players, myself included, are). I'm a Titan bottom tree Sentinel main on Xbox, so my experiences are colored from that POV. The majority of reddit likely plays on PC, and the majority of players in general play Hunter, so that colors the discussion as well.

To avoid bias and subjectivity, let's look at the true data around subclass performance.

I completely understand the frustration with Striker and OEM, especially on PC. The stats bear that out, Striker is the best subclass on PC if you're looking at win % and KDA.

However on console, where the majority of players play, it is a completely different story. Here, Striker is the *only* above-average subclass Titans even have, and it's win % and KDA's are is still a good bit lower than Arcstrider's. I don't want to necessarily get too into it, but Hunter's agility combined with the FOV/input device play a huge role here in the platform differences.

Yes, Striker's super is incredibly strong (and is getting rightfully nerfed) Yes, OEM is extremely powerful. And yes, they both need to be adjusted. But even WITH those broken things, Titans are STILL outclassed on console by Arcstriders.

I know how frustrating playing against Striker/OEM players can be, I play against them too. I main bottom tree Sentinel and I just wish my goddamn subclass actually worked properly.

So to answer the question of "why hasn't this been nerfed yet?!?!!?", it's because, objectively, it's likely one of the few things keeping Titans competitive. I only hope that when Bungie kills the only two reasons to play Titan they buff up some of the other subclasses and give Titans an alternative to OEM Striker.

Please, no more Final Blow quest steps...

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 06:17 AM PDT

I would be fine with increased requirements, but final blows cause unnecessary competition between team mates. It feels contradictory to what Destiny is all about.

Edit: for a bit more clarification, I don't want something easier or shorter. I just want quest steps to be something I do with my buddies, not against them. We the quest step in Vex Offensive the other night and I finished before them because every kill I got was one they couldn't have. I'd just like to see more collaborative (or at least somewhat mutual) steps, because playing together is always more fun than playing against each other.

Also, thanks to whoever gave the gold and silver. That's the first I've ever received them and I don't even know what to do with it!!!

so after almost completing "undying" and playing vex offensive for hours on end, 2 things were made abundantly clear...

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 08:30 AM PDT

    1. not being able to put artifact mods on exotic weapons should have NEVER made it past testing, its just a stupid design choice limiting loadouts
    2. vex crit spots are BROKEN with bows. i dont care about your secret crit locations aka dick or above, THEY ARE BROKEN.

How About Rewarding Ascendant Shards for Raid Completion and Prisms for Encounters

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 05:35 AM PDT

So, we all know that the raids only give legendary gear as a reward (other than GoS), which doesn't exactly promote playing the older raids except for raid gear for their 2.0 versions. How about adding prisms for each encounter and a shard for completing a raid. I wouldn't make it farm-able each time, otherwise people would only do the quickest raids, but once per week per character would be fair. This would add another source for getting prisms and shards while still having the nightfall being the farm-able method. It may even encourage veteran D2 players to help the new light players get through the older raids.

If that sounds like it is too rewarding and would make the nightfall useless because of guaranteed prisms and shards from raids, then maybe have a featured raid or 2 per week with the rewards.

I just want to be able to do the old raids for fun, but still be able to progress in some way by doing them. As it stands, master-working just one set of armor for 1 character is extremely expensive or requires a massive time investment. And if you masterwork 1 piece and then get a better piece, or want to have different builds, you are either out of luck or Destiny is you job.

Xur needs an Overhaul for Veteran Players

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 10:50 AM PDT

So I go find Xur today and I see that again, his lootpool for the week is the exact same as what you can reaccquire from collections. I understand that Xur is there to sell exotics people don't have and yes that is a very good thing but with the affinity tied to armor now getting the actual exotic is only half the grind. I guess I'm just confused why Xur can't benefit new and existing players with his lootpool. I don't think it'd be unreasonable if Xur would just sell exotics with random affinity's. And if it happened to be the same as collections here or there, then that's fine. But to have it every week be the same static roll seems kinda pointless to me. I think that this would be less of an issue if we had a way to reroll only exotic armor affinities. Have Xur sell an expensive consumable that would allow you to reroll an exotic armor piece once per week? I don't know. Just kinda sucks being a verteran player and not being able to look forward to Xur anymore besides a fated engram that has a 50/50 chance of giving me a weapon.

The total cost of masterworking your armor

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 04:06 AM PDT

Apologies in advance for the lengthy read everyone. I'll start this whole thing off with the raw data so you guys can view it right at the start. After seeing how important masterworking armor was in 2.0 I noticed it was taking a bit to mw my gear so i decided to get the raw total amount of items you would need to get solely thru banshee and it looks like this:

    enhancement prism:

    • 10 enhancement cores

    • 25 planet mat

    • 10k glimmer

for mwing armor you will need 3 enhancement prisms for legendaries, 5 for exotics.

ascendent shard needed for tier 10 of mw:

    • 10 enhancement prisms

    • 100 planet mats

    • 50k glimmer

so the total items needed for 1 ascendent shard is:

    • 100 enhancement core

    • 350 planet mat

    • 150k glimmer

for legendary items you need 1 ascendent shard to mw 3 for exotics. so to mw one exotic you need:

    • 300 enhancement cores

    • 1,050 planet mat

    • 450,000 glimmer

so to fully masterwork a full set of armor with 1 exotic piece soley thru banshee you will need the following:

    Enhancement prism total cost:

    • 150 enhancement cores

    • 375 planet mats

    • 150,000 glimmer

    Ascendent shard total cost:

    • 700 enhancement cores

    • 2,450 planet mats

    • 1,050,000 glimmer

    grand total of:

    • 850 enhancement cores

    • 2,825 planet mats

    • 1,200,000 glimmer

THAT'S ALOTTA MATS so what else can we do to achieve them? Well to get enhancement prisms we can get them via the battlepass at select tiers and via nightfall the ordeal at tiers 2(rare),3(uncommon),4(common) and for those unaware of what tier 4 looks like fallout plays did a really great montage of the hell that looks like.

furthermore that method is by no means a guranteed way of earning your enhancement prisms and ascendant shards needed for the final boost to your armor is only gotten from the final tier. Ya know the one in the above video. And the ascendant shards in tier 4 are by no means guranteed and are an uncommon drop. And like with all aspects of rng you could go through and never get one. Meaning yet again banshee n the battlepass are our best means to get these.

Most can go hey the old system MWing wasn't to important so i don't see the need really to do it now. However Masterworking your armor at current if you do all 5 pieces of armor grants you +10 in all stats. That's a big difference thats the equivalent of having a single mod for each stat on. Furthermore you also get all 10 mod slots so your gear can statistically become better by having more stuff on it. Which leads us into the final problem. Polarities and the rng of armor 2.0 as a whole. Fellow redditor JpDeathBlade did a great writeup on how 2.0 rolls stats recently.

This means your god roll armor is that much important and the question of should i invest or wait out getting that slightly better roll becomes an even bigger question. Plus polarities weighing the whole ordeal down. In what way does this astronomical cost which gives a statistical advantage in all content increase build diversity? Increase what we can do with our builds when we can truly only ever have one set of armor. The last question i'll leave off on is this: What of next season when we might need new armor with a new mod slot to do the new content?

TLDR Armor 2.0 masterworking costs are incredibly high further restricting the concept of build diversity. As masterworked armor gives incredible statistical advantages to its peasant counterpart. This is further damaged by polarity system and everything else that goes with it and needs be addressed.

EDIT 1: I posted this then yeeted myself to sleep but i've been browsing all the comments i can since then. IN regards to my tldr comment about peasant armor poorly worded I'll admit but I'd like to examine the benefits to masterworked armor real quick. You get a plus ten to all stats which seems small however what this does is raise your floor. Right now I have an int and strength mod attached to my gear to bring it out of the stat danger zone so to speak. As with my current preferred armor. I have less than 10 int. leading to a seven minute super time. Masterwork armor could save me 8 mod points at current as I wouldn't need to band-aid over the gaps. On top of actively saving me mod energy I now have an extra 3 points of mod energy to spend. Allowing me to consider additional enhanced mods, Ie: momentum transfer or enhanced ashes to assets. Or making higher tier nightmare hunts a tad easier. Bungie said its goal with this system was to allow more build diversity but due to the 2.0 polarities and masterwork system I have simply resorted to using a single build. Rather than have my raid armor, pvp armor, gambit armor etc. As they suggested in some of their vidocs and TWABs. And as for Nightfall grinding while i did slightly address it. Its still not a guranteed drop and that is my main issue with it. Having to run the same strike till my eyes bleed potentially 100 times for a puck for all my fav exotics n armor pieces simply doesn't respect my time or my desire to have fun doing the other content i enjoy in this game.

EDIT 2: Bolded solely thru banshee for better visibility at start n total cost sections and added bullet points where i forgot them.

Make sure you loot the second chest to get your Divinity!

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 08:17 AM PDT

Had a guy last night rage quit because he saw Divinity popping up for everyone else but him. Started cursing Bungie and the game and left the fireteam immediately. He was still in the party as we were all yelling for him to hold on and we asked if he popped the chest, he answered no. Once we explained that and he realized he couldn't rejoin because we already beat the boss he really went off. I'm sure this is Super Obvious Advice for most of you and yeah that guy did that to himself but just wanted to put it out there for other quick to temper Guardians.

EDIT: I put this in a comment but I want it to be known the Guardian in question was a great raid team member. Helpful, encouraging, would make lighthearted jokes after a wipe, and no toxicity at all. I didn't make this post to call him out for rage quitting but rather to maybe help someone else out to not make the same mistake. I can definitely understand his frustration from spending hours trying to accomplish something only to feel shafted by thinking he didn't achieve his goal. Remember that we all struggle in different ways to find the Light in this crazy world.

Where and How to Use Divinity (Interactions with Bosses / Other Weapons)

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 12:30 PM PDT

Divinity is a really weird gun. Understanding the math behind it and all of its weird, one-off interactions is key to getting the best use out of this gun. In the right hands it makes DPS phases considerably easier for your entire team and is a solid gun in its own right; in the wrong hand it's a beam of -50% damage.

    Benefits of Divinity

Divinity's main perk is that it spawns a bubble on a boss that causes all shots that hit it to crit, and buffs damage done to the boss by 25% (independent of all other damage buffs and enemy debuffs).

+25% damage means that Divinity follows the rules of Banner Shield from the Forsaken era. You break even with a fireteam of 5, and gain about 5% total team damage with a fireteam of 6. Divinity is slightly better than Banner Shield was, however, because it actually does damage itself.

This leads to two use cases:

    • Fireteam damage buff when you have a fireteam of 5 or 6 (raids, Menagerie, etc.)

    • Easy crits to quickly take out priority targets (ex: Divinity + 2x Izanagi in 980 nightfalls)

As an actual gun, Divinity has slightly lower DPS than Coldheart, which puts it below most special weapons but above primaries and LMGs. A respectable placing for a gun you're mainly using just for a buff.

    The Double Crit Bug

I previously made a post describing a bug where Divinity was overriding the crit multipliers of bosses with doubled crit multipliers, effectively halving your DPS. There's one critical thing we've learned since then: only Divinity's crit spot overrides the crit multiplier. Turns out that the +25% damage buff and the crit spot are two separate effects. In other words, on affected bosses, you're fine if you can manage to shoot the boss's normal crit spot and not the Divinity bubble.

There are 5 bosses with doubled crit multipliers, and whether or not divinity is safe to use on them depends on where the bubble spawns and if it covers a crit spot:

    • Calus: Safe; Divinity spawns the bubble low enough on his chest that it never covers a crit spot

    • Kalli / Shuro Chi: Not Safe; Divinity covers head on both

    • Riven: ???; Theoretically should be safe because Divinity spawns the bubble inside her, but Riven's crit spot working as intended is so hilariously inconsistent that I honestly don't know how this would pan out

    • Sanctified Mind: Safe; Bubble is spawned way below its normal crit spot

Basically, just don't bring Divinity to Last Wish and you'll be alright.

    Oddities

    In no particular order:

    • Anarchy shots bounce off of the Divinity bubble. If you're using Anarchy, apply it before Divinity.

    • White Nail, Whisper's perk, counts shots on a Divinity bubble as 2 hits. You don't gain any damage, but Whisper will reload every 1.5 shots instead of every 3.

    • You can tap-fire Divinity to keep the bubble and buff up while spending half the ammo and losing most of Divinity's DPS. I recommend a macro for this if you're on PC.

    • Divinity's damage buff stays on long enough for you to swap to another weapon and get a shot or two off, and these shots will be affected by the +25% damage. This is very nice with Wendigo in particular and provides a solid offensive burst option in a pinch.

    • This was mentioned a bit in the previous section, but Divinity spawns its bubble in very strange spots sometimes. It's based on the enemy's model. For example, on Insurrection Prime the bubble is practically between its legs

    7 Players. 7 rounds of 2:00 minutes.

One player is randomly selected each round to be empowered meaning they can choose a roaming super and have it up the entire round. They also have increased ability regen, resilience, mobility, and recovery.

The remaining 6 Guardians are suppressed and cannot use Supers or abilities. Guns only.

    Essence Activity Percentages

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 12:49 PM PDT

I did a quick search and didn't see this data anywhere so I put together a quick chart of what activities on the Moon grant activity percentage for the essences:

    Activity PCT
    Opening Helium Coils 2
    Open World Chest 4
Vex Invasion Gate Lord Kill 6
    Vex Invasion Overlord Kill 6
    Vex Offensive 1st round 6
    Vex Offensive Boss round* 6
    Patrol 8
    Public Event 12
    Lost Sector 16
    Heroic Public Event 18

Also forgot to mention a list of activities that don't count towards Activity Percentage:
    Regional Chests
    Moon Story Missions
Locked Chests (chests that require to shoot symbols in a sequence to open)
    Wandering Nightmares
    Nightmare Hunts
    Random Spawning Nightmare

*Confirmed that the second round of the Vex Offensive does not give Activity %.

EDIT POST: to add Vex Offensive (thanks to TheVenerated1 for the tip)

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 11:00 AM PDT

Bungie, you did a fantastic job with Divinity.

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 03:58 AM PDT

Divinity is a very, very, very good weapon for support, the weapon damage itself is not bad but not great either and it's first function is support and DPS last.

The quest was fun (especially the last puzzle) and the way you can you support the team by sacrificing your damage is worth it all the way by debuffing the enemy.

Bungie, you really hit home with weapon and you really should make more unique weapons like this who have utility perks like this one.

I expected this from Lumina from its healing function but alas it didn't do that much or should I say it was underwhelming and I hope you can rework the weapon.

Not every exotic should be a DPS weapon and Divinity is a prime example of this point.

    Leviathan's Breath: You're losing ammo.

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 04:55 AM PDT

Leviathan's Breath is weird, or at least the way it interacts with the heavy weapons ammo economy when you switch weapons.

If you are using Leviathan's Breath, you can also use most of another exotic heavy weapon's total ammo supply (55%) before switching to Leviathan's Breath, which will be at full ammo.

A large chunk of ammo from a previous weapon can be used (~55%), before switching to Leviathan's Breath which will have full ammo reserves.

To calculate this, I first tested all exotic heavy weapons in the tribute hall.

Procedure: Fill Test heavy weapon with ammo from Ammo Synth. Use X amount of heavy weapon ammo change to bow, If bow has full ammo, switch back to test weapon and refill, this time using slightly more ammo, inching the gap. If bow ammo becomes less than 10, I backtrack 1 ammo at a time to find the exact amount of ammo that can be used for free

    Terminology:

    Amount Free:

I tested how much ammo could be used by taking Max Ammo – Remaining Ammo After Test = Amount Free, to calculate Amount Free as doing it this way resolves extraneous variables like Mulligan on Whisper of The Worm causing unintended variance in results.

    Mag Size:

Total magazine size of the exotic (Some are MW'd)

    Total Ammo:

Total ammunition capacity of the exotic

    Boring Stats (for Nerds):

Using the Pearson's correlation coefficient, I measured the correlation between variables to test if there is a strict ratio as to how much ammo is granted "for free" depending on that weapon's total ammo capacity. I also tested Amount Free against Magazine size, but this proved to be an irrelevant variable (r=0.77862) In correlation with Amount Free. When comparing Amount Free to Total Ammo Capacity, we see an extremely strong correlation to Maximum ammo size (r=0.99948) From a look at the graph it is fairly clear to see that there is a strong correlation between how much ammo is allocated for free, and the mag size. From there I summed and averaged Free Ammo/Total Ammo Capacity, (9 .497622/17 = 0.558)

    Boring Data (for nerds):

    https://imgur.com/a/WBJuBTu

    https://imgur.com/LLqm1GI

    https://imgur.com/a/cfTIBtI

(Note: tests done with some weapons masterworked. Mag sizes represent that.)

TOO LONG: TITAN CANT READ If you're using ward cliff at full ammo, and fire 3 shots, you can switch to Leviathans Breath and have full ammo for it.
